In general, we can say that the appearance of the "updated Captiva" is always promptly "adjusted" in accordance with the corporate design of the brand, and the most interesting (and even menacing) car looks from the front - the narrowed head light optics, the "mouth" of the radiator grille and a powerful bumper with sections fog lights and a low "lip" (interfering with off-road).
The silhouette of the crossover also has a spectacular look, endowed with embossed wheel arches, expressive stampings and stylish mirrors on legs, but the feed is perceived somewhat simply - a large tailgate, LED lights and a bumper with massive plastic protection and two pipes exhaust system.
It should be noted that in Brazil in 2016 they presented "their own vision of a modern Captiva", but, most likely, this option will remain local - that is, outside of Latin America will not come out.
The dimensions of the Chevrolet Captiva allow us to consider it a "mid-size", but formally it is listed in the compact class: length - 4673 mm, height - 1756 mm, width - 1868 mm. The wheelbase of the crossover is 2707 mm, and the ground clearance in the curb condition is 200 mm.

The visual center of the front panel is the visor of the multimedia complex, which can be expressed by a small monochrome screen or a 7-inch "TV". The lower part of the center console is somewhat overloaded with buttons - this is where the "music" and "climate" control units are based.
The interior of the updated Captiva is finished with soft plastics, diluted with silver elements. The seats, depending on the version, are wrapped in fabric, artificial leather with fabric inserts or natural leather.
The front seats of the Chevrolet Captiva have a suboptimal profile and slight support on the sides, so they will not be comfortable for everyone. The middle row of seats is spacious and free for passengers of any height, but the "gallery" is suitable for children or short adults.
With a seven-seater layout, even a few travel bags can hardly fit into the trunk of the crossover - its volume is only 97 liters. With the third row of seats folded down, the capacity of the cargo compartment increases to 769 liters, and with the second - to 942 liters (reaching a maximum of 1577 liters - without passengers).
To load small luggage, the glass is opened in a separate section of the car, and the spare wheel is located under the bottom.
The power range of the Chevrolet Captiva FL consists of two gasoline units and a turbodiesel:
- The 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol "aspirated" is equipped with distributed injection and variable valve timing. Its maximum potential is 167 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm.
- "Top" version - atmospheric "six" with V-shaped cylinders, equipped with direct fuel supply. The 3.0-liter aluminum engine produces 258 hp. (249 in RF) at 6900 rpm and 288 Nm of peak thrust, reached at around 5800 rpm.
- A 2.2-liter unit with a variable valve timing mechanism and a turbine with adjustable impeller geometry is installed on the "diesel Captiva". The result is 184 horsepower at 3800 rpm and 400 Nm of torque delivered from 2000 rpm.
Four-cylinder engines are combined with "mechanics" or "automatic" (in each case, six gears), and the V6 engine relies exclusively on automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive system is available to everyone - the rear axle is connected using an electronically controlled clutch: standard conditions 100% of the traction goes to the front wheels, and in emergency situations up to 50% is transferred to rear wheels.
Depending on the modification, the crossover accelerates to the first hundred in 9-11.1 seconds, its peak is 175-198 km / h.
Gasoline consumption ranges from 9.3 to 10.7 liters (combined), for a diesel engine it will be 6.4 ~ 7.9 liters.
The Chevrolet Captiva crossover is built on the GM Theta architecture, which implies the presence of the classic MacPherson struts in the front axle design and multi-link suspension in the rear axle.
The braking system "flaunts" disc devices with ventilation "in a circle", which is assisted by four-channel ABS, and the rack and pinion steering- hydraulic booster.
In the Russian market, sales of Captiva were discontinued back in 2015, but in Kazakhstan, a restyled 2018 car is being sold with two gasoline engines in three equipment options - "Base", "LT" and "LTZ".

Indicators dashboard easy to read, all control buttons are at hand, and the wood and aluminum finish (in the expensive version) looks high quality and appropriate. The interior can comfortably accommodate up to seven passengers. The basic version is designed for five people. The seats are adjustable in all kinds of planes. The steering wheel can also be adjusted in height and angle. The audio system control panel is placed on it, as well as, in some trim levels, also the cruise control system control buttons.
The volume of the trunk is quite impressive, and if you fold the rear seats, the area of useful space doubles. The rear seat can also be folded in parts (60/40 ratio). There are also few changes in the cabin. The instrument cluster has slightly changed compared to the previous generation, now there are two distinct scales with a pleasant blue backlight. Between them is a small display that displays engine temperature, oil pressure and a few more indicators in real time. The steering wheel has changed its shape and received additional adjustments to the car systems. In addition to the interior design, the ergonomics have been significantly improved. From the inside, the car began to look much more expensive. Better quality plastics and fabric elements are used in the interior trim. The top configurations have got an updated leather interior with new trim colors, new front panel overlays and a few more minor innovations.
The transformation capabilities of the cabin deserve separate conversation... Everything is added here and in any combination. The previous version of Captiva did not have these features. Even a crossover version with a third row of seats allows for a flat loading floor without removing the third row. The seats fold in any proportions you need, that is, you can carry the required number of passengers and at the same time get excellent cargo space. Fully transformed, the car offers almost a thousand liters of usable volume. The standard luggage compartment volume is 477 liters.
Under the hood of the Russian version of the crossover, there are three representatives of the updated line of motors to choose from. Two gasoline units, including a four-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2.4 liters and a capacity of 167 horsepower. The more powerful six-cylinder engine has a displacement of 3.0 liters and an output of 249 horsepower.
The first motor is capable of accelerating the crossover to one hundred kilometers per hour in 10.3 seconds, and the average consumption will be 12.2 liters. With this motor, it will be possible to choose a 6-speed mechanical transmission or a 6-speed automatic. With the flagship engine, the car will become faster - only 8.6 seconds to one hundred kilometers per hour, and consumption will increase to 15.5 liters per hundred kilometers. Only automatic transmission can be used.
The third in the lineup is the diesel, which develops 184 horsepower with a volume of 2.2 liters. Acceleration of a crossover with such an engine is 9.6 seconds to one hundred kilometers per hour, and fuel consumption is 8.5 liters per hundred kilometers in urban conditions. With this engine, it will be possible to choose both mechanical and automatic transmissions.
All-wheel drive is offered for all variants of the car, but despite this, it is necessary to drive off the asphalt very carefully. The fact is that in the sill zone, the ground clearance does not exceed 170 mm, and there is even less space under the bumpers.
The concern offers two basic configurations: LS and LT. Also present special versions LT Plus and LTZ. In the basic version, the car is well equipped on all fronts: alloy wheels 17 inches, a full set of airbags for the driver and front passenger, ABS, exchange rate stability system, brake assist, air conditioning, heated front seats, proprietary audio system with steering wheel control. Top configurations offer heating rear seats, dual-zone climate control, engine start with a button, multimedia system MyLink, which supports voice control, as well as 18 inch wheels.
Special attention is paid to the issue of safety in this car. At the heart of the body, a solid steel frame appeared, equipped at the front with special zones of programmable deformation and reinforcements in door structures, which should protect against side impacts.
