The main purpose of the UAZ Patriot SUV is to overcome different types obstacles and off-road. Sometimes there is a desire to go on an SUV trip to have a good time with your family. In order not to pitch tents or look for an overnight stay on this journey, the UAZ Patriot SUV allows you to spend the night in the cabin, and in a comfortable position. As you know, all cars provide for the possibility of folding the seats in a horizontal position, which allows the driver and passenger to rest. But it is very difficult to spend the night in this position, since the legs are in an upright position, and there is not enough space on the seat that it is impossible to turn around. But this issue is solved on the UAZ Patriot SUV without any problems, and independently. To do this, it is enough to make a special device - a sleeping bag. It is about a sleeping bag for an SUV that this material will tell.

Of course, it is not necessary to equip the car with a sleeping bag just so that it is. But if the owner uses the car, in particular, for travel, travel, then a bed in the cabin will not hurt, but even, on the contrary, will allow the driver and passengers to sleep in a comfortable position.

The place where you can place your sleeping bag is, of course, the trunk. There is so much space in the trunk that it can easily accommodate 2-3 people. In addition, spending the night in a car is not only comfort, but also safety. After all, spending the night in the forest is a danger of attack by various animals, and even wolves will be afraid to approach a steel horse. Thus, the purpose of the sleeping bag is to enable the driver and passengers to spend the night in a comfortable bed, and not languish all night in a bent seat.

What are sleeping bags made of?

A sleeping bag for an SUV is not manufactured at the factory, because this element is created exclusively at the request of the car owner. Therefore, whoever wishes will have to work hard with his own hands. In the UAZ Patriot, the sleeping bag is often made of steel and wood. Although steel construction is already much less valued, as metal is more difficult to work with. A wooden sleeping bag for an SUV is not only convenient, but also simple. Just collect according to your imagination, desire and convenience.

Thus, we will consider the main features of how to equip a bed in a UAZ Patriot with our own hands. What is required for this and where to start.

Features of making a sleeping bag

The sleeping bag in the UAZ Patriot is installed in the trunk, so the first thing to start with is measuring the free area of ​​the trunk. Knowing the size of the trunk, you can judge how much space there will be for the night and how many people will fit there.

So, the arrangement begins with the fact that you need to make an appropriate drawing of the product in real dimensions. Based on the drawing, you should move on to bringing the product to life.

The process of making a sleeping bag for an SUV is as follows:

  1. You will need a board 35 mm thick and 1350 mm long. The base of the berth will be assembled from the board.
  2. To create a frame, you need to take a steel tube 25x25 mm or a bar, but its dimensions should already be more than 40x40 mm.
  3. It should be repeated that installation from wood is much easier, but if you have a familiar welder, then you should weld a steel frame that should fit in the trunk of an SUV. The rear seats should be folded down.

    Since 2007, the UAZ Patriot SUV has been equipped with folding rear seats from Rexton. The main feature of these seats is that when folded, they create an uneven surface, and on a slope. This bias will actually be used for the sleeping bag.

    The head rail is not needed only if a 35 mm board will serve as the basis for an overnight stay. If you plan to use chipboard, then you should weld even more crossbars on the upper base.

  5. After the steel frame is ready, you should move on to creating a wooden base. The photo below shows an example of such a base assembled.
  6. The wooden base should be in two removable parts for easy installation in the trunk.

The front seats of the UAZ Patriot are separate, with mechanical adjustment of the longitudinal position and backrest angle. Additionally, the driver's seat cushion is height adjustable. The headrests of the seats are easily removable, adjustable in height.

The driver's seat and the angle of the steering column must be adjusted to ensure a correct seating position. The driver must rest sufficiently firmly against the seat back. Both hands, holding the top of the steering wheel, should be slightly bent at the elbows. Legs, when pressing the pedals all the way, should not be fully extended.

Seat head restraints must be adjusted in height so that when the head is tilted back, the back of the head is in contact with middle part headrest. The head restraint can be changed or removed by vertical movement of the head restraint.

Up - by hand effort to the extreme upper position. Down - when the head restraint button is pressed. Removal - by moving from the uppermost position upwards with the head restraint button pressed. The driver's seat headrest tilt has three fixed positions.

Adjusting the position of the front seat UAZ Patriot.

The front seats are longitudinally adjusted using the seat longitudinal locking lever. Move the lever up, move the seat and release the lever. The backrest tilt is adjusted and the seat is folded out to the resting position using the backrest tilt adjustment lever. Lift the lever up, move the backrest and release the lever.

The seat back has a lumbar support mechanism that has three fixed positions and allows you to select the most comfortable seating position. Adjustment is made by turning the lumbar support adjustment lever. The driver's seat additionally has a cushion height adjustment. The adjustment is carried out by the height adjustment knobs for the front and rear of the cushion.

The rear seats of the UAZ Patriot are separate, with mechanical adjustment of the backrest angle. The rear triple seat consists of single and double sections. Each of these sections can be folded down to increase the volume of the room or unfolded into a resting position. There is a floor container under the seat.

Formation of a cargo area in the UAZ Patriot cabin:

- Pull one of the backrest locking levers and tilt the backrest forward until it stops against the seat cushion.
- Pull one of the cushion release handles and tilt the seat forward into an upright position. Move the front seats forward if necessary.
- Secure the rear seat section in the load position at the head restraint post front seat belt in the seat base pocket.
- Fold up the second section.

To return the seat section to its original position, tilt it back until the latches engage and raise the backrests in the same way until the latches engage. To access the floor, lift one of the sections of the rear seat of the UAZ Patriot as described above.

The seat section can be folded out to the resting position or by using one of the backrest locking levers. Lift the lever up, move the backrest and release the lever.

Seats for the driver, front passenger and side rear seats equipped with three-point diagonal seat belts with inertial reels, for the middle passenger in the back seat there is a static (non-inertial) lap belt.

Seat belts are intended for individual use by drivers and adult passengers at least 144 cm tall and weighing at least 36 kg. To fasten the belt, pull on the belt tongue and, without twisting the straps, insert it into the buckle until it clicks. To unfasten the belt, press the red button on the buckle.

After adjusting the positions of the front seats, it is necessary to adjust the position of the upper anchorage point of the seat belts. Adjust the position of the upper attachment point of the front seat belt using the adjuster lever so that the belt does not touch the neck and does not press on the shoulder, and to increase the height, it is enough to push up the guide bracket.

If there is no adjuster lever, adjust the position of the upper seat belt anchorage point by moving the belt guide bracket up or down. To do this, pull the bracket towards you by pressing with your thumb on the decorative cap of the bolt and move the guide bracket.

Service of the seat belt of the front and rear seats of the UAZ Patriot.

Keep the straps and buckles of the seat belt clean. If they become dirty, clean them with a mild, alkali-free soap solution. Protect the straps from rubbing against sharp edges. It is recommended to protect from direct sunlight. In order to clean the buckles from dust at least once a year with their compressed air.

It is prohibited:

- Twisting of the shoulder strap, its folding along its length, as well as excessive slack.
- Ironing the webbing.
- Fastening a child sitting on the passenger's lap with a belt.
- Introduction by the consumer of any changes in the design of the belt.

Seat belts must be replaced if they are worn or damaged and if they have undergone critical load as a result of an accident.

Removing and installing the front and rear seat belt of the UAZ Patriot.

Remove seat belts in the following order:

1. Remove the B-pillar trim.
2. Remove the front seat belt.
3. Remove the height adjuster installed on the B-pillar.
4. Remove the arch trim rear wheel.
5. Remove the rear side seat belt.
6. Remove the middle lap seat belt.

Install the seat belts in the reverse order. To avoid installation errors that impair system performance passive safety, it is recommended to install seat belts at a service station.

All somehow did not get around to try to fold the rear seats to see what comes out of it.

In general, I did not like it. The seats are folded as in a conventional passenger car, for example, the same 2109. You can see everything in the photo. However, at 2109, this results in a flat floor and the seats do not get dirty on the rugs, and in the Patriot it sucks. The seat cushion can be said to fall to the floor, and the folded backrest does not form a flat surface with the boot floor. With such a size of the cabin, in particular the distance to the front seats, this option of folding the seats is very unfortunate.

By the way, there are braces on the bottom of the backrests that keep the belt buckles from falling down when you lift the seat. However, the factory either does not know about them, or simply ignored them.

The boxes under the seats cannot be called big, but the dimensions are such that it begs to place amplifiers and a computer a la CarPC there. I have been thinking about this for a long time, I wanted to put it in the top nine, but decided to wait new car... So the pleasant process of installing a normal multimedia system will begin soon.

First of all, while I decided to change the speakers. I looked under the grids, and there, as expected, there is a 13-cm paper broadband (by the way, it looks very solid), and it is not opposite the grid, but shifted to the side, that is, it plays generally hell knows where))). For the holidays I will go to the dacha, through the spacers I will put a 16 cm column. While they are playing from the standard GU, then I will put the amplifier.

By the way, on May Day I drove the Patriot out of the city for the first time. Well, not to shit, of course)), but just to the dacha. Why am I writing, because it was the first trip on the highway. In short, my expectations were not met. I expected to be high frame SUV on the track it will behave differently - make noise, scour the road, goat at high speed. However, the Patriot surprised me. First, the acceleration is light and stress-free. Secondly, it goes on good asphalt like on rails. Even when the broken section began, all in patches, I calmly walked along it at a speed of 100 km / h, without feeling any discomfort. And with all this, we were quite calmly talking in the salon, and there were 4 of us. Overtaking also did not cause difficulties, I did not even switch to fourth. And finally, the main advantage over conventional puzoters is the overview. Everything that happens a few cars in front is perfectly visible, this is a very big plus when driving on a highway with a fairly heavy traffic

In general, I was very pleased with the driving qualities of the Patriot. We will continue driving and see how it goes.

P.S. Still, there are very few handles on the front pillars in the cabin, it would be much more convenient to get into the car with them. I'll have to put it myself. More on this next time.
