Not so long ago, on Russian market a car appeared that has been trying to conquer the US market for several years. We are talking about Toyota Venza, which was developed for North America, but then marketers decided that such a car could take its rightful place in Europe and Russia.

The pluses include a large glazing area and, as a result, a good view, although, judging by the reviews about Toyota Venza, with an increase of more than 190 cm, all this is not relevant.

Thanks to them, by the way, the car has excellent sound insulation. An unusual solution catches the eye already upon landing in Venza - the doors are made in such a way that they close the thresholds. It is very convenient, because, for example, for me, when landing in my former cars in a dirty season, I often had to shake off my trouser leg due to the fact that my leg was rubbing against the dirty outer part of the threshold. In this station wagon, this is excluded, because only the door from the outside gets dirty. The driver's seat looks like a home chair or even a sofa - it has almost no side supports, because of this, the driver's body is almost not fixed and a feeling of imposingness is created. Considering that in sports and dynamic performance this car does not stand out in any way, then, in principle, a special fixation of the driver is not needed here. Freedom, space and convenience - this is what you first feel while sitting behind the wheel of a Venza.

In terms of handling, one can note a very smooth ride, a suspension that absorbs all irregularities and an electric power steering with variable effort. At high speed, the steering wheel becomes heavier, this gives more stability when driving on the track. Outside the city, by the way, Venza rides like a tank - confidently and unshakably. Cheerful automatic transmission gears skillfully and in time changes gears in such a way as to maintain constantly that range of engine speeds at which the required torque is created. The low center of gravity of the car allows cornering with minimal heel, which, although felt, is negligible. This station wagon is also very stable due to the presence of the VSC stability control system.

In winter, this crossover is very warm. The engine warms up quickly and the stove works fine. Air vents for the rear passengers, passing through the center armrest, will keep them from freezing. The disadvantage of this solution is that the temperature in the armrest with the stove turned on is quite high and it will not work to store food there. And there is plenty of room in the center console. The armrest lid slides up to reveal a deep “drawer”, plus the lid with cup holders slides to the side to reveal another deep storage space. On the front panel in the central part there is a convenient niche for a telephone, as well as USB / AUX connectors.

Even with the available arsenal, broken country or blurred forest roads for the presented car are clearly contraindicated.

Getting behind the wheel of a car, you notice the elegance and luxury of the interior design. If in North American markets there are two power unit, then Russian buyers have no choice. Domestic dealers Japanese company offer cars with a single gasoline engine... The youngest of the two North American engines, the 2.7-liter four-cylinder 1AR-FE unit, was chosen for its role.

The presented 16-valve engine is equipped with a gas distribution mechanism with a reliable chain drive and a Dual VVT-I gas distribution system. The engine has undergone modernization specifically for the operation of the car in Russian conditions. This is reflected in a slight increase in maximum power, which now stands at 185 hp. at 5,800 rpm. Peak torque updated motor 1AR-FE falls on the 247 Nm mark, achieved at 4,200 rpm. These characteristics are quite enough for an almost two-ton car to accelerate to one hundred km / h in 9.5 seconds, with a speed ceiling of 185 km / h. Moreover, the dynamic performance of the car could be even better if the developers provided for the possibility of installing a manual transmission. However, the Toyota Venza is equipped exclusively with a six-speed sequential automatic transmission.

The basic equipment option provides for the use of front wheel drive... More expensive modifications of the Venza are equipped with a drive to both wheel axles. In this case, a plug-in version of the all-wheel drive system is used, when, when the front axle is slipping, the multi-plate clutch provides traction to the rear pair of wheels.

The car is not particularly fuel efficient. So, if the declared consumption of the front-wheel drive version of the crossover is about 12.5 liters of 95th gasoline per 100 kilometers in urban traffic conditions, then four-wheel drive vehicle will require at least 13.5 liters of gasoline per hundred in the city. In the suburban cycle, the car is more economical, consuming 7 and 8 liters of fuel, respectively.

Safety first

The refusal of the company's management to supply cars to Russia with a flagship 6-cylinder 3.5-liter engine can be explained quite simply. A more expensive SUV is equipped with similar motors. Toyota Highlander... Japanese marketers decided not to provoke potential buyers to abandon the more expensive (and more profitable for the company) car in favor of the Venza with a powerful engine.

Talking about others technical features crossover, it is worth noting that the suspension updated Toyota The Venza is fully independent front and rear. The designers used MacPherson struts in both cases, however, given the specifics of Russian roads, the car's suspension received special settings. The front wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, while cheaper non-ventilated discs are installed at the rear.

In Russia, the 2014 Toyota Venza is presented in three trim levels: Elegance, Elegance Plus, and Prestige. As a starting point, the Elegance package includes the presence of xenon headlights and LED backlight daytime running, panoramic roof with sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel and seats, the front pair of which is electrically adjustable. In addition, the car is equipped with cruise control, rain and light sensors, parking sensors and many other options.

Pros and cons of the model

The obvious advantages of Toyota Venza include the wealth of vehicle equipment. This statement is quite true even for the initial versions of the crossover. High-quality finishing materials and modern electronic driver assistants bring a solid japanese crossover to the level of premium cars, which the owners of the model cannot but like.

As for the shortcomings, perhaps the main one is the noise insulation of the cabin, which is useless for a car of this level. At times, it seems that there is simply no soundproofing treatment of the body. Significant front and rear overhangs of the car body are also a clear disadvantage. With a large ground clearance, the overhangs of the body practically negate the off-road inclinations of the car. Not the best characteristic machine is and fuel consumption- you can safely add another 10-15% to the declared manufacturers figures.

The creators of the car have something to work on, and therefore, the overall rating of the car is 4.

Having managed to be the owner of a rather extensive lineup cars, among which there were models of brands Audi, Opel, I and Toyota Camry owned, after which I moved to Land Cruiser prado, but not for long, literally a week after the purchase, I changed it to Toyota Venza, I can say with complete confidence that only the last car was able to fully satisfy my requests in all respects. For a long time I was looking for a large-sized car in which I could feel comfortable and status. And finally I found it. The main advantage is spaciousness and amazing functionality.



A year ago, I became the proud owner of a 2010 Toyota Venza urban crossover. Its progenitor was the Toyota Camry, which I used to drive with pleasure for about 3 years, so I know the cars of this brand firsthand.

The machine "eats" gasoline, feeding a 2.7-liter engine of the 1AR-FE series, equipped with 4 cylinders, 182 hp. The main advantage of this unit is the presence of a timing belt with a chain drive, a Dual VVT-I gas distribution system, as well as 16 DOHC valves. The unit accelerates the car up to 100 km / h in just 9 seconds, a high-spirited car, obedient, easy to control, which is provided by an electric booster, which has been supplemented by a rack and pinion steering mechanism. Speaking of gasoline and speed, one cannot fail to mention consumption. According to my calculations, in urban mode, 13 liters of fuel are consumed per 100 kilometers. When driving on the highway, the dependence of the flow rate on the speed is traced:

At a speed not exceeding 120 km / h, the consumption is 10.5 liters;

160 km / h - 11.5 HP

The numbers generally coincide with those declared by the manufacturer.

Separately, I would like to dwell on the dimensions, which played an important role for me. The length of the car is 4800 m, in width it stretches for 1905 mm, its height is 1610 mm. Clearance - 205 mm. But Venza, in addition to these systems, if there are other assistants, in particular, in a critical situation, when suddenly it was necessary to apply emergency braking due to the fact that a drunk (as it later turned out) driver "jumped out" in front of me, the built-in Venza came to the rescue auxiliary braking system. As a result, the collision was avoided, I believe, largely thanks to the aforementioned auxiliary system.

Exterior

The car looks gorgeous without exaggeration, especially in white. In the sun, the car shimmers, it seems that it is strewn with precious stones. Not a single passer-by can pass by without being delighted. It is so pleasant to sit inside a tinted car, to look at people passing by who, without hesitation, demonstrate admiration, and to understand that this "beauty" belongs to you.


Once I had to go to Bulgaria on vacation, the locals came up to me, asked about the cost of the car and my opinion about its quality, admired it, and one of them was simply stunned: “You are probably a happy person if you have such a car! " It was amazing to hear such words, but at the same time it was very pleasant.
