TagAZ is a large Russian car manufacturer. The main plant is located in the city of Taganrog. The enterprise started its work quite recently - in 1998. Its production capacity was planned to cope with the production of 180,000 vehicles per year. The first significant step in the development of this brand was the start of joint work with the Korean concern Hyundai. The result of cooperation was the first machines Hyundai accent that the world saw in 2001. After 3 years, the company mastered the production of the Hyundai Sonata business-class sedan. In 2007, the production of a crossover begins Hyundai santa Fe Classic, and a year later - Hyundai elantra XD, the C-class sedan. In addition, the direction of production gradually developed commercial vehicles... To date, the range of machines produced at the plant has expanded even more. TagAZ still assembles several Hyundai models, as well as "own" models of SUVs and passenger cars, which are also licensed and previously produced in Korea under the SsangYong brand and in China under the Chery brand.

Cooking this material was more difficult than usual: most official dealers TagAZ took up a perimeter defense, not wanting to share information. But you can't hide an sewn in a sack - all of Tager's ailments are well known and are actively discussed on the Internet. That "Korando", that "Tager" are built on proven Mercedes units and really look like two peas in a pod. But not from the point of view of reliability, which we will talk about today.

TRANSITION PERIOD

The most painful topic for the owners of "taggers", known from the very beginning of the production of the model, that is, since 2008, is the useless reliability of a manual transmission on cars with gasoline engines ( ZR, 2010, No. 8 ). It is often unsafe to drive with such a box.

For example, if you need to shift to a lower gear in order to slow down the engine, you will be faced with a difficult task: the lever will rest against an invisible obstacle due to the difference in shaft revolutions, which is due to a synchronizer that does not cope with its duties, more often the second or third gear. If you still manage to turn on the gear, the unpleasant crunch emitted by the box discourages the desire to even touch the lever. It's easier for those who know the old techniques - re-gas and double squeeze clutches, but master them on modern car, besides, bought for a lot of money, is hardly acceptable.

The owners demanded that the dealers replace the unit. And they were not ready. But the dealers, TagAZ itself was in a difficult situation: the plant had to allocate a separate workshop, where in the first nine months 183 failed boxes were repaired - almost every fifth! They changed the synchronizers of the second, third and fourth gears assembled with clutches, but often this did not help: the repaired unit soon began to crackle again.

Some owners changed the box four to five times! Meanwhile, TagAZ, unable to cope with the repair, came up with the idea of depriving the owners of the warranty due to the allegedly improper operation of the machine: they say, one should not change gears at rpm above five thousand. But there are no such restrictions in the operating manual, so the case sometimes went to court. As a rule, the decisions were in favor of the owners - of course, at the cost of frayed nerves. In fairness, we note that the plant recognized the defect as massive and even publicly apologized to the owners.

After all, TagAZ was also held hostage to the current situation, since SunYong concealed the scale of the problem and was in no hurry to resolve it. It seems that the agreement between the enterprises did not provide for any sanctions in case of delivery of defective parts. The Koreans took advantage of this: according to rumors, in order to reduce costs, they moved the production of some units, including gearboxes, to China. An indirect confirmation of these rumors is the fact that the Korean marking has disappeared from the crankcase.

As it turned out later, it was not only the synchronizers, but also the misalignment of the shafts. This defect was learned to be eliminated at one of the firms in Yekaterinburg. There, they remove all the filling from the box and, having collected the parts of the crankcase, process the bearing beds in one transition. And in order to fix the outer ring with an interference fit, additional bushings are pressed into the bed. And only then are new couplings and synchronizers installed. There are no complaints about the gearboxes brought in this way, but not every owner is ready to go for repairs thousands of kilometers.

ADVENTURE ELECTRONICS

With the arrival of autumn 2008, other difficulties began: at temperatures slightly below zero, the Tager gasoline engine could only be started from the fifth or sixth attempt. On the Korando, by the way, there was no such problem. It turned out that the Koreans, adapting the control unit program for our climate and gasoline, made a slight mistake with the settings: due to a short pulse on the injectors, the mixture was too poor.

The defect was eliminated by changing the parameter fuel performance from one to four and adjusting the temperature coefficient. The blocks were reflashed for free, under a guarantee. There was just one catch: not every dealer had the equipment they needed. On the first "taggers" in the T5 configuration, the engine cooling fan was constantly working. This defect was dealt with quickly enough - it turned out that it was necessary to swap the contacts. By the way, the dealer network of TagAZ is also his sore spot. There are known cases when during installation additional equipment at branded service stations, they managed to undermine the squibs of the seat belt pretensioners. TagAZ even had to terminate contracts with some sellers.

HOMELAND WILL HELP

All these problems have tempered the owners, and now they are actively discussing on the Web which domestic counterparts are suitable instead of the capricious original. Some SUVs in rear suspension the UAZ springs are already working, which are a little stiffer than their relatives, thanks to which it was possible to raise the rear part of the body by 55 mm (this became a good help on the off-road).

So that there is enough shock absorbers rebounding, they are replaced with "Volgov" ones. It is only important to remember that the carrying capacity of the machine does not increase from this. It's a pity that no adequate replacement has yet been found for the factory rear axle semiaxes, which, it seems, are also Chinese - with a decent "egg" in the area of the oil seal working surface. Therefore, oil leakage to the brakes after 20 thousand km is a common thing. Moreover, there are practically no original semi-axles on sale, and if they are, then they are three times more expensive than usual.

DROP BY DROP

There are no particular problems with engines. True, TagAZ distinguished itself here too: if the turbocharger served quite reliably on the Korean "SanYong-Korando" with a diesel engine of the OM662 series, then on the "Tager" it sometimes misses oil. The defect did not become widespread, but where did it come from on a seemingly worked-out design? Apparently, the unknown origin of the unit again affects, this time the turbine.

There is one more defect on five-door "taggers": by 50-80 thousand km the rear wiper axle may acidify. We recommend at the first sign, when the brush begins to crush on the glass, disassemble and lubricate. More serious problems also happen.

By a car that visited our editorial office a year ago ( ZR, 2010, No. 6 ), cracks were found in the frame in the area of the rear left suspension arm. The fact that the load-bearing part did not break in half is considered to be the merit of our test group, which discovered the defect in time. But everything could have ended sadly! There are no other complaints about the chassis.

Perhaps only the stances are recognized as relatively weak. front stabilizer- after 40-50 thousand km, if you please, change. Ball joints, silent blocks, tie rods and tips sometimes serve more than 180 thousand km. With wheel bearings, how lucky. The spread over the resource is in order: from 20 to 200 thousand km. Here, by the way, Chinese components are superior to Korean ones.

The rear axle is in the version with disc brakes: the stockings are still dry, but sometimes they start to sweat with oil when you run 2–3 thousand km. Here, the input shaft of the gearbox is sweating, which is atypical.

Rear axle in version c disc brakes: the stockings are still dry, but it happens that they start to sweat with oil when they run 2–3 thousand km. Here, the input shaft of the gearbox is sweating, which is atypical.

Both "Korando" and "Tager" cannot be called full-fledged heroes of this section, since the former is already old, and the latter is too young. Therefore, we present the third table without the traditional calculation of the cost of costs per kilometer of run ( ZR, 2011, No. 1 ). These machines go beyond the accepted methodology, we decided to talk about them only out of a desire to draw the attention of manufacturers to the need for a more competent choice of models for our market. So that simplified technologies do not undermine consumer confidence in the long-known model.

Sales market: Russia.

Tager, apart from the UAZ jeeps, is the most affordable full-fledged SUV on our market. And it doesn't matter that this is a licensed copy of the Korean Ssangyong korando... The latter was created according to all the canons of a now forgotten genre. Spar frame, one-piece rear axle, front double wishbone suspension, four-wheel drive, which has a Part Time scheme and a step-down row. Now such a set can be found either in specific models, or in rare large and expensive SUVs. Korando has had it since 1996, Tager since 2008. As a reminder, in 2007 the Russian company acquired equipment and rights to industrial assembly of an off-road vehicle. The Taganrog counterpart, together with the chassis, all-wheel drive transmission and gearboxes (5МКП and 4АКП), also got the engines "as a gift". Gasoline 2.3 liters (150 HP) and 3.2 liters (220 HP), as well as diesel 2.6 liters (104 HP) and 2.9 liters (120 HP). ). Most of the modifications are equipped with mechanical box gears and only for the most powerful 220-horsepower motor is offered "automatic".

The main difference between Tager and SsangYong is a five-door body, which is produced in Taganrog together with a three-door. The package bundle is typical for the 90s, that is, no newfangled electronics. The practical interior certainly does not look modern, however dashboard the car is quite informative, all readings are easy to read, the control unit on the center console is functional and, for greater convenience, is complemented by a deep niche for storing small items. Below it is another niche with a tray and two cup holders, there is also a tray for small items above the center console. The plastic interior trim is practical and easy to clean. Basic configuration Tagera includes power steering, adjustable steering column, standard power accessories (power windows, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors), immobilizer, air conditioning and central locking with remote control. In more expensive equipment, the car will offer a CD player with 6 speakers, leather upholstery and heated front seats.

Under the hood, TagAZ Tager can be found power units of different volumes and capacities, both gasoline and diesel. All are manufactured under license from Mercedes-Benz. The initial 2.3-liter gasoline "16-valve" with multipoint injection produces a maximum power of 150 hp. (at 6200 rpm) and 210 Nm of torque (at 2800 rpm). Another common option is a 3.2-liter in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine. It has a capacity of 220 "forces" (at 6500 rpm) and 307 Nm of torque (4700 rpm), which allows Tager to gain a "hundred" in 10.9 seconds and maximum speed 170 km / h, while for the basic version it is 12.5 seconds. and 165 km / h, respectively. Installed on TagAZ Tager and diesel "four" - a volume of 2.6 and 2.9 liters. They are more modest in terms of power (104 and 120 hp), but they have quite decent traction (216 Nm and 256 Nm), on average being content with 8.7-10.5 liters of fuel, while gasoline is consumed in the combined cycle 10.2-15.9 l / 100 km. Volume fuel tank all versions have 70 liters.

As already mentioned, Tager incorporates design solutions that are classic for an SUV. Among other things, the car is equipped with hydraulic power steering and disc brakes front and rear (front ventilated). The part-time 4WD transmission can only be used on slippery road, on dry asphalt, you can only move on the rear wheel drive. The front wheels are turned on with the help of electric vacuum clutches, the electronics also control the inclusion of a downshift. The body size differs depending on the number of doors. The five-door Tager has a length of 4512 mm, the three-door - 4330 mm. The wheelbase is 2480 or 2630 mm. The standard for the SUV is 235/70 R16 tires, the spare full-size wheel is fixed to the tailgate. Itself luggage compartment has a volume of 350 liters, it can be increased to 1200 liters by folding the backrest of the rear seat (it is divided into two equal parts), thus forming a flat floor.

Despite the outdated design, safety requirements are not forgotten. In the standard, the TagAZ jeep has stiffeners in the doors, a safety steering column, three-point belts, an anti-lock braking system(ABS), a driver's airbag, and a passenger airbag was offered for a surcharge. No crash test data available.

TagAZ Tager aroused great interest of buyers due to its low cost. The main advantages of the model are excellent cross-country ability, good dynamics, high maneuverability, comfortable interior and good equipment. Among the disadvantages, the owners often name a tendency to "goats", high consumption fuel, small trunk. Another disadvantage manifests itself on the 3-door version with the most powerful engine - the combination of high thrust and short wheelbase leads to a tendency to drift. Full-time all-wheel drive (which the Korando 3.2 AT originally offered) would not hurt here, but Tager is deprived of such pleasure. Although on the Internet you can find a solution to this problem by folk craftsmen by partial replacement nodes. There are disadvantages due to the build quality: not very clear gear shifting (especially when switching to a reduced one), problems with paintwork and insufficient corrosion protection.

Read completely

SUV production TagAZ Tager was launched in early 2008 by the Taganrog Automobile Plant. The Korando model of the Korean automaker SsangYong was taken as the basis for the developed car. At the same time, back in 2007, a domestic manufacturer bought out the rights to a new product being prepared for production, after which it received specifically for Russian market its existing name.

The ambiguity of the embodiment of the TagAZ Tager exterior

In accordance with the manufacturer's statement, the vehicle under consideration embodies the most daring ambitions, while the car is a real SUV in form, spirit and content. Truly unusual appearance In 2013, TagAZ Tager cars were created according to the classic canons of legendary army cars, as a result of which it is unambiguously associated with reliability, endurance and strength, and is also absolutely not subject to any fashion trends.

Of course, the design of the car is implemented for an amateur who wants to buy TagAZ Tager, in an extremely ambiguous and unusual form, which can be visualized in six color schemes: white, beige, silver, dark blue, dark red and black. The realized dimensions of the machine are presented for each of the proposed six configurations, which will be discussed below, with the following characteristics:

They have, in addition to MT1, exterior mirrors painted in body color and a spare wheel cover. In addition, glass is integrated in the car with light factory tinted, wheel mud flaps, 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and also made anti-corrosion treatment of the body.

Among other things, the car is equipped with inertial seat belts and power steering. For all variations, except for the base one with the presence of only the driver's airbag, the installation of an analogue for the front passenger is provided. Also in the stock version there is no heated front seats. Exclusively in AT5, you can find front fog lights together with a rain sensor.

But otherwise, any of the modifications for which, during operation, spare parts for TagAZ Tager can be purchased at the maximum affordable prices, has air conditioning, immobilizer, central door locking, electric heating and adjustment of rear-view mirrors, power windows with the addition of automatic lowering and an audio system with six speakers installed.

TagAZ Tager interior and its aspects

For modifications, in addition to the basic one with the presence of fabric trim, leather upholstery is offered. At the same time, the AT5 version can boast of the presence of height adjustment of the driver's seat and a lumbar support for the driver.

What are the owners' reviews about TagAZ Tager

Looked closely, but then decided to buy. Almost never regretted the purchase. Minor shortcomings are present, for example, too large a stroke of the existing gearshift lever and its capricious switching, but they are fully compensated by the advantages of the car, expressed in comfort, cross-country ability, high seating position, good handling, high-torque unit and frame structure.

Sergey V., modification 2.6 TD manual transmission, 4 * 4, 2012

It should be noted that almost all the reviews of the owners of TagAZ Tager, in general, fully correspond to the above opinion.

The budget SUVs "TagAz Tiger" are serially produced. Russian designers took the platform as a basis korean car Ssang Yong Korando. Despite the fact that the novelty has more than half of reliable Korean spare parts in its design, it has not received much popularity in Russia.

Design

Tiger cars have a very interesting appearance. Such an SUV will clearly attract the attention of the public and will not get lost in the gray mass of other cars. In the front part there is a massive bumper with integrated triangular foglights. Above it, the radiator grill is well placed. On the sides are round headlights and wide turn signals. However, along with their uniqueness, Tiger cars are very outdated in appearance. This design was popular in the 1970s (remember the Jeep Wrangler, does it look like anything?), Except for the plastic body kits and roof rails.

In profile, Tiger cars are more like a hatchback with their compactness. Moreover, the trunk of the novelty has the smallest volume - 350 liters. This is even less than some hatchbacks. No SUV or crossover can boast of such "spaciousness".

Specifications

It should be noted that Tiger cars are produced in several body variations, each of which is equipped with its own line of engines. So, five-door SUVs are equipped with gasoline engine with a capacity of 150 Horse power and a working volume of 2.3 liters. Three-door modifications are equipped with two diesel units... Among them - power plants a volume of 2.6 and 2.9 liters and a capacity of 104 and 120 horsepower, respectively. Three-door cars "Tiger" can also be equipped with a gasoline engine for 150 and 220 "horses". With regard to transmissions, the buyer has no choice but a mechanical "five-step". Exceptions are AT5 modifications. They are equipped with a 4-band "automatic".

"Tiger" -car: price and configuration

The cost of a Russian SUV directly depends on the configuration. Thus:

It should be noted that all configurations are equipped with disc brakes (front - ventilated, rear - with a mechanism parking brake), ABS wheels, 3-point adjustable seat belts and hydraulic power steering.

A variety of body colors will be good news for motorists. In total, the buyer can choose one of 6 color options. The domestic off-road vehicle "TagAz Tiger" is offered in white, beige, silver, black, dark blue and dark red.

Conclusion

Considering the cost and level technical equipment, we can say that Tiger cars are a serious competitor for Chevrolet Niva, but for some reason the latter remains more popular on the Russian market.
