Two weeks ago, information appeared on the network that the Lada Xray Cross crossover, the start of production of which is scheduled for the end of 2016, will not be produced with all-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive on Lada Xray Cross

On Hray Cross there will be an all-wheel drive system from Nissan All Mode 4 * 4-i with an electromagnetic clutch. Nissan system ALL MODE 4x4® ensures safe and easy driving, while the electronics take care of everything related to traction on the wheels.

Essentially, ALL MODE 4x4® provides traction to the wheels at all times, regardless of the condition of the road or ground the vehicle is driving on. But, unlike some others automatic systems For wheel drive control, the ALL MODE 4x4® system uses modern electronic rather than hydraulic devices to distribute torque between the wheels and axles.

Under normal conditions, the front wheels are driven to minimize frictional losses and conserve fuel. When the system detects slippage of one of the wheels using an automatic clutch installed in the rear axle, the wheels are connected rear axle for adequate distribution of torque to the wheels in changed conditions.

Modes of operation of the drive: The system provides 3 modes of operation of the drive by switching the desired one on the center console. The question is complex enough. What we planned to do - but in fact, we wanted to build new car, with a different track, with a different base, with slightly different dimensions, a different sidewall, a different body - in the current economic conditions will require very large investments. And we have already held several meetings on how to improve the situation. We now have an understanding. We are talking about the fact that in 2016 we will have XRAY Cross, but it will be maximally made on the same platform on which XRAY is made. Here we will try to surprise our clients - I emphasize, surprise - but at a lower cost.

But will there be four-wheel drive?

Working on an all-wheel drive issue? Interesting. Could the XRAY Cross be essentially the same car as the XRAY, only, shall we say, with four-wheel drive? And even without him?

No, it won't be the same car. It will be different in appearance, it will have a completely different ground clearance. Will have a 4x2 version and hopefully a 4x4. And this car will also be very interesting for buyers. But now I would not want to go into the technical part of this project, because, firstly, the concept is still under final approval, and secondly, we would like to show all the secrets, all the “tasty” things just before the launch. We try not to declare many points so as not to overheat market expectations and demand. XRAY is a very interesting product. And for those who will lack the "crossover", SUV-component, we will prepare a car with slightly different characteristics.

That "breaking" of the VAZ system, which we spoke about, is not only people, it is, on the whole, the whole tradition of AVTOVAZ, which has been taking shape for decades. For example, a huge workflow, often unnecessary. Now decisions are made in a day that used to take a month. Is there really a new stage at AVTOVAZ, and what should all this ultimately lead to?

Absolutely true, the stage is new. Less bureaucracy. As a project manager, my work has become more comfortable. Because in the morning the president writes an order, signs - and this is an order. Nobody is discussing this anymore. You don't need to register it, you just attach it to the document flow. And yet no one dared not to fulfill it. Or say that it is not valid. Everything is really, everything is legitimate, everything is in front of witnesses, everyone hears these decisions. Moreover, they do not wait for a copy of this document to be sent to him, but run now, at seven in the morning, to work.

You know, it’s very difficult to talk about what “breaking up” an enterprise is. In fact, standardization is very important for such large enterprises. If you have a clear standard, then it’s clear how to work. It is quite clear that we are now changing the standard. And on the example of XRAY - we have already said that we are using the new Alliance standard, where there was a lot of virtual design, there were few samples and, in fact, the first samples were VC-Lot. This is a revolution in general, in which no one ever believed at AVTOVAZ, and then bang - and all this appeared. Interesting thing.

But what is important, as it seems to me, is now changing the culture of teamwork at AVTOVAZ. That is, if earlier a person was responsible for his perimeter and said: “Do you have any complaints on these issues? No? Goodbye". Now there is no such thing! It is very easy for me to involve representatives of other services in the project. How was it before? There are two divisions, some kind of struggle is going on between them. Someone is draining resources, someone does not want to work ... Now there is no such thing, and everyone understands that if there are no new products, there will be no life at AVTOVAZ.

If we have such a design - once again I want to say thanks to Steve Mattin - then we must not let you down! We now have a chance to really make the product unique. We should not have such that the box makes noise, there should not be this viscous steering wheel, there should not be non-functional noises in the cabin - and we are working on it. We are now all organized this way - from engineers to workers - to do this. We have no problem with motivation now. We consult with workers on the VC-Lot assembly line. Workers and engineers, in fact, write the technical processes themselves! The way it suits them. They change them to suit their style. This is also a new standard. Previously, it was all written from above. And until the right person comes and changes this piece of paper through some kind of notification system, you should not turn this nut with a different moment. And now it is done in the workplace. The master comes and says: "We are spinning like this, everything has been agreed."

Within a day, any issue is resolved, the problem is resolved immediately. There is communication from the very bottom to the top - this allows you to really work as one team. I feel that in our project we managed to establish such a structure - from top to bottom and from bottom to top, then the information flows very quickly, and the feeling of such a team spirit, in the mood for the result. Moreover, we have a good result now. And everyone sees it, appreciates it, likes it. This is confidence that the car will be, and the future of AVTOVAZ is also defined in good side... Indeed, now we do not have that inert structure that hindered our work.

But standards are not created from scratch, but on what needs to be experienced. Something turns out, something does not work out, we improve something, but it is important then to make a system out of this. When people have these standards become a culture, then they work. Up to this point, you can write anything, but that does not mean that it will be done. If people do not recognize this, at any level - executive, leadership - there will be no effect. It is important to present new standards so that they become a culture of life, a culture of production. And then you get a very efficient system and good result... It seems to me that this is the main thing that is happening at the plant now - the culture is changing.

Do you really believe that a sense of responsibility is deeply rooted in a Russian person and is one of his main qualities?

Yes. I have a lot of examples of this in my team. People can work hard to get things done. You know, we had an interesting case. Our French colleagues were simply shocked.

Winter. January. Snowfall, frost. Transport does not run. People who work at enterprises where there is a continuous process - a metallurgist and other workshops - they stayed. They didn't go home, they stayed to wait for the second shift. And the people who were supposed to change them, in a blizzard and severe frost, went to the plant on foot! And no one left before the replacement came. And when our French colleagues watched from the balcony of the skyscraper how the lines of people go to the plant in a blizzard, they realized that the plant, in general, has to live and live. I remember that at that time the President wrote out an award to all people who came to work in these workshops to reward them for this commitment.

And when they tell me that all our workers just want to drink and leave work early, I answer - this is not the VAZ system. I myself have worked in the VAZ system for 21 years. I remember when I worked as an engineer, our engineer never left on time, we always stayed to work a little more - until we did the work that we had to do or we tested the solution that we found. Engineers never left on time. This is a very important factor. I have grown so much. Therefore, it is quite simple for me when we say that we have to work seven days a week. Of course, it is difficult, but this culture was at the VAZ before. And she is in the character of a Russian person. It is important not to lose it.

At its core, the new Xray Cross is a copy of the regular Xray hatchback, with minor changes to the exterior and suspension. Popular models are often cited as competitors. Renault Sandero Stepway and Duster. But X Ray is more compact.
