Seven years ago, "Qashqai" not only blew up the market - it became the ancestor of the class compact crossovers... "Skoda-Yeti", "Mitsubishi-ASX" and its French clones, "Renault-Duster", "Opel-Mokka" - they all appeared later, trying to keep up with "Qashqai" in terms of sales. Hmm, keep up? The Europeans, and after them the Russians, seemed to have gone crazy: queues stretched out for the "Qashqai"! Even last year, when the generational change was in full swing, the demand for it remained high.

ZR journalists also have a good "demand" for "Qashqai" (how many kilometers traveled on different modifications!), - and as soon as the second-generation car went on sale, we dispatched one of them to the Dmitrovsky auto-polygon. And the rivals were identified as a very successful in the market "Kia-Sportage" and gaining momentum "Subaru-XV". Are they too tough for a beginner?

PLACING THE FIGURES

The temptation was great to take "Qashqai" with a new 1.2-liter turbo DIG-T, which replaced the 1.6-liter aspirated. Kirill Mileshkin, who attended the pan-European presentation of the car, argued that this small-caliber brisket deserves attention (ZR, 2014, No. 4). And the new 130-horsepower 1.6 dCi diesel is interesting too! But our motorists are conservative in the oriental way. It was at the insistent requests of Russians and Ukrainians that the Nissan retained the 2-liter atmospheric "four" in the range - and we can safely assume that such cars will become sales hits. Well, let's go on about ...

The interior of "Kashkaya" got rid of its former modesty: such a quality of finishing materials was never dreamed of by the predecessor.

And also our people shy away from crossovers with mechanical boxes, for it is undignified. If you don’t want to turn the “stirrer”, take the 2-liter “Qashqai”, because the “small” gasoline engine is aggregated only with a six-speed “mechanics”. And since "Subaru-XV" is only four-wheel drive and only gasoline, we have no room for maneuver at all: we take four-wheel drive 2-liter cars with automatic transmission.

And the test participants stood up one to one: a 144-horsepower Qashqai with a CVT, a 150-horsepower Sportage with a six-speed automatic transmission and a 150-horsepower XV with a CVT.

Age is not a hindrance to the interior of "Sportage": it looks fresh to this day. The rear multi-plate clutch can be locked. The six-speed "automatic" does not differ in the rate of fire. To speed up the process, you have to switch to manual switching mode.

Why are they fighting such money?

For novelty and fashionable furnishings. Here you have cooled cup holders, and all-round cameras, and an electric handbrake, and heated windshield, and monitoring of "blind" zones, and a system for tracking markings ... Do most buyers need all this economy is a separate question. I was confused by the beautiful 19-inch wheels. It's not even that the kit winter tires will cost a pretty penny. I'm talking about smoothness. "Qashqai" and before did not differ in the softness of the suspension, and on these "rollers" with a 45% profile, the car turns into a tram: on the flat Dmitrovskoe highway, which leads to the landfill, I counted even cobwebs of cracks invisible to the eye!

I don’t want to run ahead with an assessment of the smoothness of the ride (what if the competitors are not better?), But I advise you to take “Qashqai” on smaller wheels, since other configurations mean 16- and 17-inch ones.

The competitors' wheels are more modest and the equipment is not richer, but the price tags are written off like a blueprint. Subaru-XV 2.0-S in the top-end EH version is priced at 1,306,000 rubles, and Kia-Sportage 2.0 in the Premium configuration costs 1,359,900 rubles.

COMBINATION VISION

The new "Qashqai" was designed in Europe, but under the supervision of the Japanese Shiro Nakamura, who created such masterpieces as the GT-R, 350Z and Infinity-FX. The talented chief designer also supervised the first "Qashqai": the family continuity is felt, although the former restrained appearance gave way to life-affirming forms with numerous folds and a flying sill line. And how pearl-white mother-of-pearl suits a beginner!

I look into the LED eyes of "Kashkaya" and ... It seems to me alone that it has become noticeably larger? Conducted a survey among colleagues - everyone nodded in agreement. But looked into specifications I couldn’t believe my eyes: the car had grown quite a bit and did not surpass its competitors in size, but only caught up with them. Design is a great power!

Look in the car and you will also gasp. Along with the former simplicity of the lines, the unassuming materials that we blasphemed more than once have disappeared. Whatever you touch, everything is pleasant to the touch. The symmetry of the front panel is broken by a barely noticeable turn of the center console towards the driver: the cockpit is still far away, but it still warms the soul. And the seats upholstered in white suede? Chic!

I already don't think the price is too high, and the electric handbrake does not seem to be an excess, and I involuntarily drive the most innocent doubts away: how can anything in this cozy car be uncomfortable, ill-conceived, strange?

Maybe. For example, the seats: they clearly lack a pronounced lumbar support. And the angle of the backrest makes you hunch back and stop for a warm-up after one and a half to two hours. There is little sense from the scanty resting area of ​​the left leg: the foot constantly slides off it.

Air ducts made at the insistence of Russian customers at the end of the central tunnel (they are not on European cars) are good. And wide rear doors swinging open at a large angle are also a plus. But in order to get on the second-row seats, you have to bend down pretty much - the dashingly falling roof forces you. And when you got in, you regret that "Qashqai" has not grown even more: it has become only a centimeter more spacious in the knees - you are not sitting close to each other, but you do not feel at ease either.

"Kia" was modernized at the beginning of this year, but its appearance remained practically unchanged, since only the filling was updated (ZR, 2014, No. 5). Nevertheless, "Sportage" remains one of the most eye-catching models in the class.

The interior, too, cannot be called outdated. The bright appliances built into the wells and the two-tier front panel are especially good. The seats are more comfortable than the Nissan ones, but the range of their adjustments could be wider (for example, tall drivers want to lower the seat by a couple of centimeters). The audio system with an external amplifier and subwoofer from Infiniti (the prerogative of the top version) pleased me with a powerful, rich sound - competitors did not reach this level. And how warm the steering wheel will please in winter! But on the whole, "Sportage" is inferior to "Qashqai" both in the quality of materials and in the level of equipment.

Subaru-XV is perceived differently. It looks menacing, but even the angular design cannot hide the fact that this is only a raised Impreza hatchback. An updated car is being sold this year (ZR, 2014, No. 5). The changes mainly affected the suspension and bypassed the interior. And you can feel it. The salon is the simplest in our trinity. Laconic center console, unassuming instruments. Sad.

Experienced subarists will find something to argue: they say, this is not the main thing in Subaru cars. Agree! There are no complaints about ergonomics: perfect fit, excellent visibility, everything is at hand. And the XV will certainly show itself in driving. But, friends, in a 1.3 million car there should not be four different-sized displays with dubious picture quality. Why is plastic so rough everywhere? Why is the variator lever covered with leatherette? What prevents the backlight from being built into the sun visors? And isn't it time to teach turn signals to triple blink in response to a light touch of the lever?

And how to explain that, with similar dimensions, XV is noticeably closer? In the second row, you feel like in exile - there is enough room for your knees, but your feet tend to get stuck under the front seats. The center tunnel is large, there are no additional air ducts, and there is only one paper pocket - in the back of the right front seat.

"Sportage" is an example for everyone! Comfortable rear seating, spaciousness in all directions, and the transmission tunnel is purely symbolic. For complete happiness, only the central air ducts are lacking, which pleases only "Qashqai".

TIME CONTROL

The machines have similar motors in terms of recoil, but how different their characters are!

"Sportage" has a sufficient strength by the standards of the class of 150 forces. But this is only on paper: the engine copes with its duties with a C grade. Rapid acceleration from medium speeds is a daunting task. If up to 60 km / h the "Korean" goes head to head with rivals, then it turns sour. He gains a hundred in 13.2 s, and this is a small eternity. The situation is not saved by the transfer of the "machine" to the manual mode of switching: what's the point if the motor has pronounced heart failure.

For the sake of fairness, it must be said that not a single car at the test site confirmed the declared acceleration time. Partly because the top-of-the-range cars are noticeably heavier. By the way, "Sportage", which is the heaviest in basic equipment, sagged more than others.

Subaru? His famous boxer produces the same 150 "horses". But what a cheerful start! Just touch the accelerator - and the car rushes forward with a jump. At low speeds, such a pressure even seems excessive, but nuances soon creep out. It turned out that the elasticity here is far from complete openwork: acceleration from 80 to 120 km / h takes more time for the XV than for its rivals - overtaking is not easy for the driver. Let's be glad then that Subaru turned out to be the most economical: the average consumption during our test was 9.7 l / 100 km, while opponents on the same path drank a liter more.

"Paper" power, in theory, should send "Qashqai" to the knockout - 144 hp. But measurements showed that the Nissan has the best dynamics! And he feels more cheerful than others. The engine willingly accelerates the car from the bottom and turns with ease all the way to the red zone of the tachometer, which starts at 6400 rpm. Surprisingly good is the variator, which imitates the switching of quasi-fixed gears and allows you to actively brake the engine in manual mode.

"Qashqai" pleased not only on the straight line. In running turns, he also showed himself to be a good fellow: he willingly stands on an arc and strictly adheres to a given trajectory, without annoying with excessive rolls. Transparent steering with a verified effort on the steering wheel allows you to keep the car under full control both on the straight and in the corners. There are sport mode, giving the steering wheel pounding weight. But there is little excitement in all this. And if you exceed the speed even a little in a corner, the Nissan slides limply outward at all - but so softly and predictably that even an unprepared driver can catch this moment.

Subaru-XV is a fighter! Its steering is perfectly tuned, and from the first moments you understand that the engineers did their best for you, the driver. With such a sophisticated drive information content, you always know what is happening to the wheels. Every quick turn is a little delight! How dashingly he fulfills all my commands, how quickly and willingly he changes the trajectory. Maybe a joke with him, with cheap interior plastic?

The Sportage is not so agile in turns. I already grimace at the pronounced understeer as the car tries to get out of line instead of diving into a corner.

Tangible rolls and not the most accurate steering wheel do not add confidence. The variable "severity" of the electric-assisted steering is a toy: in any of the three modes of operation of the amplifier, an unpleasant understatement remains between the driver and the car.

TECHNICAL VICTORY

Eh, wheels ... My hopes were not justified: "Qashqai" turned out to be the toughest. He regularly broadcasts all the small things on the road to the salon with an unpleasant rumble and microtickles. It is good that the steering wheel is "untied" from the wheels - there are practically no impacts on it. But it hurts not even for myself, but for the suspension: I feel that it is working on the brink of possibilities, unable to cope with the heavy 19-inch wheels. On more serious irregularities, the Nissan rolls a little softer, but all the same, it's not enough happiness to rush along the average bumpy Russian road, because on bumps the car jumps off the trajectory, and I have to steer. Such shoes are not for our roads!

What I liked about the Nissan was its soundproofing. The first "Qashqai" was at first a chaise chaise. After the facelift, it became clearly quieter, and the car of the new generation did acquire a nobility that had never existed before. A more serious barrier was placed not only on road noise - the engine was also calmed down. And since the variator operates according to a new program and even imitates an automatic transmission, even with intensive acceleration, the engine does not bother on one strained note, as the Subaru does in the old fashioned way. Measurements confirmed: "Qashqai" is the quietest in the trinity.

The "Sportage" wheels are one inch smaller, but on the same Dmitrovka the slightest irregularities turned into uncomfortable shaking. It's just a disaster! They let the tires cool down, checked the pressure - and there was an extra half atmosphere. They squandered the excess, and the character of the "Korean" became more peaceful. And also "Kia" liked the stability on the high-speed track. Where the Nissan forces you to work at the steering wheel or even drop the speed, the Sportage rushes as if nothing had happened. Decent option for long range.

Only the Sportage has a full-size spare tire. The rest have a stowaway.

"Subaru" not the most comfortable car. The engine roars during intense acceleration, like a baby after childbirth, and the body sways on the waves and dances on the gullies, forcing it to constantly adjust the trajectory. But how confidently the suspension holds the blow! Pits and potholes do not care: XV swallows them without choking, and confidently flies along the bumpy road. There is excitement in this car, rally blood has not been completely washed out of its veins! XV is more youthful, more perky, more interesting. I would raise acoustic comfort to a decent level, increase the trunk, slightly improve the interior and slightly cut the price ... Am I too dreaming?

"Kia" attracts with extraordinary, timeless design, spacious interior and capacious trunk. But the poor dynamics is depressing: with a diesel engine "Sportage" in our test would have achieved more.

And the winner deservedly becomes "Qashqai"... A beautiful, modern, richly equipped and balanced crossover in most parameters. Looking at the final table, you understand that even in a more modest (and inexpensive) configuration, he would not miss a victory: the basic values ​​will not evaporate, and the car will be much more comfortable on 16-inch wheels. So the debutant has every chance to repeat the success of his predecessor. Or maybe surpass him. Have you signed up for the queue yet?

It often happens that one car wins in a point test, and your sympathy is turned to the other, the loser. This time everything has grown together: the first place was taken by "Nissan-Qashqai", which looked to me from the first minutes of our acquaintance.

All machines are equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch. But at "Sportage" and "Nissan" it can be blocked.

All have a similar architecture of suspensions: in the front - wishbones and McPherson struts, in the back - multi-link (the front-wheel drive "Kashkaya" has a torsion beam). Nissan and Kia rear springs installed separately from the shock absorbers, and the "Subaru" - shock-absorber struts: XV and here is the most passenger in the trinity.

Outside the asphalt, "Sportage" allows you to go fast enough without fear that on the next unevenness the car will bite its nose or strike with protection. To "Qashqai" driving on a country road is more difficult: you have to work with the steering wheel more, and the suspension protests loudly - you want not to rush, but to crawl! It is clear that the chassis will withstand a lot, but instinctively you start to feel sorry for the car. XV on the ground is closer to "Sportage": the car is perky, encourages to move more actively, since it is easy to drive. Longitudinal swing is small, and a solid ground clearance of 210 mm (for Kia and Nissan, respectively, 175 and 190 mm) gives hope: you will not hook on the ground.

The XV is noticeably noisier than the Kia, but quieter than the Nissan in terms of suspension performance. But the crunch of stones on the bottom of the "Subaru" is heard louder than others. "Qashqai" upset with the creak of plastic interior panels.

As for the survivability of the units, the advantage of "Kashkai" and "Sportidge" is largely due to the layout. Their transversely mounted engines and gearboxes are completely protected from impact by the subframe and factory protection.

At Subaru, the steel sheet protects only the engine crankcase, and the bottom of the gearbox is not covered by anything. For lovers of driving outside the asphalt, I recommend the protection of the box, which is sold with full set fasteners.

Of course, it makes no sense to make a comparison in the form of a special test "Nissan-Qashqai" and "Kia-Sportage", since everyone has different tastes, so here the general parameters of the two cars will be given. Looks, design pros and cons, prices, and technical components will be compared. As a result, you will determine for yourself which is better - "Kia-Sportage" or "Nissan-Qashqai".

Freshly released Kia sportage lures buyers with its non-standard, catchy appearance. In this he is helped by the optimal proportions both for a sporty style and for a family "hard worker". However, Nissan Qashgai is not much inferior in this parameter. Its appearance is more suitable for measured movement, picnic trips, family travel. Based on this, we can conclude that in the question of what to buy - "Kia-Sportage" or "Nissan-Qashqai", comes forward Japanese company... In turn, Nissan Qashgai offers no less interesting options for the layout of the aggregate device. The car is great for driving both in the city and on suburban roads. The power reserve will be enough with surplus, and especially in the city there will be no noticeable difference between the two cars.

The salons of the new "Kia-Sportage" or "Nissan-Qashqai" are made with texture and quality. The Sportage, due to its straight-line design, looks more spacious and roomy than the competitor. Also worth mentioning is the chic back row. The specialist put great emphasis on him, and they achieved the desired result. The chairs have a perfect fit and restraint elements, incredible softness and pleasant tactile sensations from the materials. In Nissan, the situation is a little worse. The quality of the chairs is also made, but their rigidity leaves much to be desired. The front seats are about the same in terms of comfort, but with a micro-plus in Nissan.

With such restrictions, the price of the Kia Sportage from the base 859 thousand at a time jumps to 1 109 900 rubles. After the recent modernization, the appearance of the "Korean" has undergone subtle changes, but the car is still one of the most striking representatives in its class. And the interior cannot be called frankly outdated, although the hands of an experienced cosmetologist are clearly not enough in its design.

The cheapest Qashqai can be bought for 848,000 rubles, but this option does not meet the conditions we set, the main of which is four-wheel drive. The 4WD version is at least 1,116,000 rubles. The new generation of the Japanese bestseller is not going to give up its positions, taking on more interesting and life-affirming forms.

There is no alternative to the all-wheel drive XV forcing you to overpay not so much for the variator, but for the two-liter engine, which in its characteristics is closer to the motors of the other test participants. With this in mind, the updated car, sold from this year, becomes much more attractive.

Nevertheless, for discerning and advanced buyers, Qashqai provides a much larger set of various electronic systems responsible for helping the driver than its rivals in the test - for additional money, of course. True, to get to this Klondike, you will have to pay no less than 200 thousand rubles above the optimum - this is exactly the amount of the LE + version is more expensive than the SE, which we decided to recognize as reasonably sufficient.

"Subarik" is not the most comfortable car, but it retained the driver's passion from its rally ancestors. Its famous boxer produces the same 150 "horses" as the Sportage, but what a cheerful start!
