Periodically (but at least once every 30,000 km of run) check the oil level in mechanical box gear. The manufacturer does not provide for an oil change. However, sometimes such a need may arise, for example, when switching to oil of a different viscosity, when repairing a gearbox, etc. Due to the absence of elements for oil drainage on the gearbox (plug, sump, etc.), contact the service to change the oil.

Fill the manual transmission with API oil GL4 SAE 75W-80.
1. Unscrew the check (filling) plug by placing a container in case of oil leakage.

2. Check the oil level: it should be at the lower edge of the filler hole.

3. If necessary, add oil with a syringe until it emerges from the filler hole.

4. Screw on the filler plug and tighten it to a torque of 30 Nm.

CHECKING THE FILLING AND CHANGING THE OPERATING FLUID IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The manufacturer provides for checking the level of the working fluid in automatic box gears every 60 thousand kilometers. Fluid change is not provided for the entire life of the vehicle. However, the need to replace the fluid may appear if it becomes dirty or smells like burning. In this case, contact the service, since in addition to replacing the fluid, they will diagnose the gearbox there due to the fact that the listed symptoms may indicate its damage.

Apply working fluid recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other fluids or oils will lead to malfunctions or failure of the transmission.
You will need: working fluid for the gearbox, a funnel, a clean rag, an Allen key "5".

1. Start the engine and warm up the transmission. The temperature of the fluid in the gearbox must be 50-80 ° C. To speed up the warm-up time, you can take a short trip with the car. Typically, at an ambient temperature of 20 ° C, a 10-minute ride is sufficient.

The temperature of the working fluid is determined using special diagnostic equipment connected to the diagnostic connector of the vehicle.
2. Park the car on a level horizontal surface and brake with the parking brake.

3. Press the brake pedal and, while holding it down, alternately set the selector lever to all positions from "P" (parking) to "D" (forward), briefly stopping in each position to fill the torque converter with fluid and hydraulic system... Then set the selector lever to the "N" (neutral) position. Release the brake pedal.

The fluid level changes with temperature. Controlling the fluid level at low temperatures leads to overfilling, and at high fluid temperatures leads to insufficient filling of the gearbox. Overfilling or insufficient filling interferes with the operation of the transmission.

4. Place a wide container under the transmission to drain the working fluid.

5. Remove the oil level control hole plug.

6. At a normal level, the working fluid begins to flow out of the hole when the temperature reaches 35-37 ° C.

A bypass tube B is installed in hole A to control the level, the upper edge of which corresponds to the normal level of the working fluid.

The burning smell of the working fluid with the simultaneous presence of foreign particles in it in the form of fragments of friction material indicates the need to repair the gearbox.

8. If the working fluid does not start to flow out of the control hole when the temperature rises to 45 ° C, it is necessary to top up the fluid.
9. Insert a hose into the overflow tube through the level hole so that the end is above the edge of the overflow tube.

10. Install a funnel in the upper end of the hose and, when operating in mode idle move fill the engine with working fluid until it starts to flow out of the control hole.

The liquid should come out of the inspection hole in separate drops. If it comes out in a continuous stream, drain off the excess until it drips.

11. Tighten the control hole plug to a torque of 27 Nm.

Check the condition of the plug gasket, replace if necessary.

The gearbox is one of the main components of the Volkswagen Polo. Reliable and long-term operation of the gearbox is only possible with the right choice transmission oil and compliance with the timing of its replacement.

According to the recommendations of experienced car owners, changing the oil in the automatic box Volkswagen polo carried out after 65 - 80 thousand km of run. Dealers recommend pouring original oil into the Volkswagen Polo sedan box, the article number of which is VW ATF G055025A2. Alternative options which can be used in automatic transmissions are Castrol Spezialprodukt, SWAG 30 91 4738 or LIQUI MOLY TOP TEC ATF 1200.

The original lubricant for manual transmission is VAG G052512A2 API GL4 SAE 75W-80. In addition to branded products, Castrol Syntrans V FE 75W-80 oil shows itself well. It is possible to use products from other manufacturers. At the same time, the lubricant for the Volkswagen Polo manual transmission must comply with the SAE viscosity - 75W-80, and also meet the API standard - GL 4 or GL 5. The oil must be made only on a synthetic basis. It is recommended to change the fluid with a mileage of 80 - 100 thousand km.

Is a kind of quality and reliability standard in the automotive industry. It is believed that the transport from the German manufacturer is the easiest to maintain, and its performance characteristics differ in duration. Despite such a leading quality position of transport, cars from a German manufacturer can also fail. This is especially true of transmission units and mechanisms, which, without timely and proper maintenance, can reduce the performance of transport. In this article, we will talk about the Volkswagen Polo car, tell you whether you need an oil change in the Polo Sedan manual transmission, when and how to change the used lubricant, how to make a DIY replacement at home.

When should you change?

Many owners of "Volkswagen Polo" have a question whether it is worth changing the oil in the manual transmission, since the user manual for the vehicle says that the lubricant in the box is designed for the entire service life of the car. Indeed, in a gearbox of a mechanical type, oil is not consumed if there are no structural defects that cause lubricant leakage. However, it should be borne in mind that the operational characteristics of units and assemblies of machines vary depending on climatic conditions, driving style and many factors that cannot be absolutely calculated by the manufacturer. In addition, the concept of "operational period" is interpreted differently in our country and abroad. In Germany, the operating period of a car rarely exceeds seven years, and in our country, a car can be driven for more than thirty years.

A manual transmission, despite the high criteria of stability and reliability, in comparison with an automatic transmission, is subject to the influence of external factors, poor-quality roads or complete off-road, significantly depends on the driving style. It is necessary to regularly check the oil level in the "Polo Sedan" box, and also pay attention to its quality. Indicators for should be the following factors:

  • noises and knocks atypical for transmission units;
  • Difficulty shifting gears or deterioration of vehicle handling and maneuverability.

In addition, if, when checking the lubricant level, it is found that it has acquired an unnatural shade, has impurities or bad smell, this signals the need to replace it. Specialists service centers and experienced car owners recommend at least every sixty thousand kilometers. If the car is operated in aggressive conditions, then the working units of the vehicle require more frequent maintenance, approximately every thirty thousand kilometers traveled by the car.

Which oil to choose?

The question of choosing an oil is no less difficult than the need to change it. The modern market for lubricant products for transmissions has a rich assortment, which causes significant difficulties when choosing a lubricant. Which one is better to use for filling the manual transmission of the Polo Sedan car? When choosing an oil for your car, you need to be guided, first of all, by the requirements for lubrication from the manufacturer, which are set out in the instructions for the car. The most correct option would be to buy original oil with the article number G052512A2 from the manufacturer, however, its cost exceeds the market price of quality analogs by more than two times.

According to the vehicle regulations, the filled oil must meet the SAE viscosity criteria - 75W-80 and meet the API quality standards - GL 4 or GL 5. In this case, the oil must only be of the synthetic category. As for the lubricant manufacturer, preference should be given to certified, well-known brands, and you need to buy the product only in official car dealerships in order to avoid buying a fake.

Replacement steps

For a complete Volkswagen Polo Sedan, you will need two liters of oil, a seventeen hex wrench, a container for waste fluid, a rag and a syringe or funnel for filling the fluid. If on your vehicle there is a mechanic, the oil in the gearbox should be changed according to the following regulations:

On this replacement lubricating fluid in the manual transmission "Polo Sedan" can be considered complete. After a short break-in of the car, it is necessary to check the oil level again, and also check the system for leaks.

Let's sum up

Mechanical transmissions "Volkswagen Polo" are characterized by excellent maintainability, which allows them to be serviced at home without resorting to expensive professional assistance. Following simple recommendations, even a novice car enthusiast, no experience technical works, will be able to successfully change the oil on its own. Monitor the condition of the manual transmission, regularly check the oil level and replace it if necessary, as your safety on the road directly depends on this.

Timely replacement transmission fluid in an automatic gearbox (automatic transmission) - an integral part Maintenance VW car.

It must be produced first of all according to technical instructions specific vehicle. However, there are some recommendations, the use of which will only improve the life of your car with automatic transmission.

Changing the lubricant, as recommended by professionals, should be depending on the mileage, which should be no more than 60-80 thousand kilometers. It is also necessary to take into account the fact that most imported cars are not focused on their operation in the harsh Russian conditions. And it is better to change the lubricant every year, even if the mileage does not exceed 60-80 thousand kilometers, during this period of time. It will be better to change the lubricant during the preparation of the car for the winter season, so that the lubricant does not thicken in frost.

The carmaker Volkswagen does not set hard deadlines for changing technical fluids in its vehicles. Including the replacement of transmission fluids by the manufacturer is not regulated. However, the ATF refresh rate depends on the mode in which you use your car, and this, in turn, affects the amount of transmission life.

The approximate mileage after which you need to change ATF to Volkswagen in Russia is about 60,000 kilometers. This is approximately how experienced motorists and some experts determine the service life of an oil in a box. In addition, it should be remembered that this range is determined by the vehicle manufacturer itself under normal operating conditions. The worse these conditions are, the more often the change will need to be made.

What are the worst conditions? For example, climate (dust, snow, frost, constant temperature changes, high humidity). It can also be overloading of the engine (for example, when delivering heavy bulky goods), which also does not support the performance of the oil. As a rule, under the worst operating conditions, experts recommend reducing the period from oil change to oil change by about 30%.

Process technology

At Volkswagen service stations, there are two ways to change the oil:

  • The simplest one is oil renewal or its partial replacement.
  • Complete replacement - replacement

The first method is very simple and does not require additional equipment- the old technical liquid is drained through the drain hole, and, naturally, a new one is poured through the filler hole. The advantages are that when using this method, you save a lot of effort, money and time. Disadvantages - not all of the old emulsion is drained, but only 2/3. The new oil is partially mixed with the old one.

When using the replacement method, a special apparatus is used that squeezes out the old grease under high pressure, replacing it with a new one. Advantages - complete replacement liquids. Disadvantages - with the inept use of this method, the Volkswagen automatic transmission may be damaged. Also, it is not advised to use this method on old cars with high mileage... Replacing the transmission lubricant with full replacement is possible due to the fact that the emulsion circulates inside the box. When the lubricant is completely changed, the mechanic simply opens the necessary nozzles and starts a special unit that pumps out the old grease and at the same time pumps in a new one.

After changing the oil in a Volkswagen automatic transmission, you should regularly check its level. It will not take a lot of time, at most 2-3 minutes. But it will allow you to extend the life of your beloved car. And remember, even a slight deviation from the oil level leads to increased wear of parts of the automatic transmission and its breakdown.

Tools and materials

First you need to find the right transmission fluid. It is recommended to purchase only original ATF, for example, ESSO ATF LT 71141. Do not purchase fluid from questionable sellers. Such a lubricant will not fully comply with the machine manufacturer's approvals, which will lead to a sufficiently rapid failure of the gearbox.

  • New transmission oil pan gasket;
  • Drain plug with gasket;
  • Oil filter, automatic transmission VW;
  • Capacity for draining technical fluid;
  • Set of wrenches
  • Rags

ATF replacement step by step

  1. The car is installed on an inspection pit with a muffled engine and switched off lighting equipment and other devices.

  2. The transmission grease must be warmed up, then it will not thicken and will drain faster.

  3. Removing the engine crankcase protection (if any).
  4. A container for draining the transmission fluid is placed under the drain plug, which is unscrewed.

  5. Wait about 45 minutes until the old grease is completely drained.
  6. Carefully loosen the pallet mounting bolts automatic transmission... Usually it may contain some more hot lubricating liquid, so safety precautions are required.

  7. After the pallet is removed, the dismantling of the old oil filter... It is usually held in place by three bolts (depending on the specific car model). It is possible not to change the filter if the operation is performed for the first time, but then the remnants of the old emulsion must be removed from it with a syringe.

  8. The dismantled pallet should be washed from the formed carbon deposits. There may be metal shavings that need to be removed as well.
  9. A new gasket is put on the pallet, after which it is put in place.
  10. The drain plug is screwed in with a fresh O-ring.

  11. The ATF is replaced with a syringe or flexible tube. After filling with oil, you need to let the motor run a little idle with a different position of the "automatic" selector.

Subtleties of replacing fluid for transmission

Transmission fluid, depending on the brand, may have a different color and smell. These indicators, by and large, do not affect the properties of lubricating fluids, since during operation car engine they are light brown to black in color, indicating the life of the grease.

It is usually impossible to achieve complete replacement of the used transmission fluid with fresh one, since it will inevitably mix with a small amount of working off. Therefore, even after a short time of operation, it is simply impossible to establish the type of lubricating fluid by external signs.

The statistics of the repair cases of Volkswagen "automatic machines" show that the units break down not due to the mixing of different emulsions. The operating conditions of the transmission are of paramount importance, and even the most expensive synthetics will not help if they are violated.

When changing the lubricating emulsion, the temperature of the gearbox should not exceed 45 degrees. Do not forget to set the level of the grease poured into the box. To do this, the engine and the Volkswagen automatic transmission warm up again to 40 degrees, after which the gearbox selector is moved several times to all positions sequentially forward and backward with a pause of 5 seconds. Then remove the drain plug so that a small trickle of oil flows out. As soon as it stops flowing, it means that the fluid level is set correctly.

Original lubricants are usually indicated in the operating instructions for the car or on the oil dipstick. Most suitable for VW are G 052 025 (A2), Esso Type LT 71141 and G 052 182 A2.

In order to prevent the lubricating fluid from overheating, a radiator is provided in the automatic transmission design. Therefore, when changing the lubricant completely, you need to pay attention to how the hydraulic lines are laid through which the transmission emulsion flows. Incorrectly connecting the oil change unit, you can provoke the Volkswagen automatic transmission out of order.
The hydraulic fluid in the transmission not only lubricates the moving parts, but also transfers some of the torque. Therefore, its composition is different compared to that of VW manual transmission fluids.

A correctly set transmission fluid level is very important for smooth operation VW gearboxes. It is necessary to check the lubricant level at a certain temperature, established by the vehicle manual. In German boxes, a so-called inspection hole is used for this. If oil barely drips through it, then the level is normal, if it goes in a trickle, then the level is too high.

How to properly and inexpensively maintain a vehicle?

The fluid must have the required valid Volkswagen Group approvals. Most preferably, a synthetic lubricant is used. If you buy a lubricant from another company, it is advisable that this company is a manufacturer, and not just a supplier of technical fluids.
