I bought a Pickup in June 2009 ... Before that I shoveled everything I could on the topic (I used to want to take the UAZ Patriot). And when I saw a UAZ pickup and found out the price, I immediately realized - this is my car.
Basically I drive it, mainly around the city: from work to work. I got used to the car very quickly, the dimensions of the car are well felt. Sometimes it's true, you have to strain, say, when you park reverse... Mirrors bring objects very close and therefore it is difficult to correctly estimate the distance to objects. Considering the weight, the dynamics of the car is quite good.
The visibility is good, the view is 5 - 6 cars ahead. The body is deep, in terms of roominess, other similar cars did not even come close. I immediately give advice from personal experience: remove the body trim from the inside and treat it with anticorrosive material.
One day I had to remove the rear wheel. Well, I took it off, but I didn't manage to install it the first time. It seems that the wheel is attached securely, and it seems to be as it should, but it is impossible to remove it and then put it back in place without getting dirty. And there are no tools for performing such an operation. Of course, I would like the car to be cheaper and more economical. However, for its size, weight and dynamics, the UAZ pickup truck has quite normal fuel consumption indicators.
What were the problems:
1. When buying, I replaced the defective turn signal relay. And the headlight lacked a bulb of dimensions - he inserted it himself.
2. After replacing the "native" rubber "Cordiant" with "Michelin", vibration disappeared at a speed of 60 - 70 km / h, and the problem of directional stability also disappeared.
3. Once the clutch pedal failed (repaired at the service station, using the GTZ pumping).

A huge, heavy machine. Over the past year, the most common question for me has been: how much does it cost and eat? I immediately answer that it eats a lot, but given the price and the fact that this is a 2.5-ton four-wheel drive truck, it is not necessary to expect that its consumption will be similar to the Daewoo Mathis. It is a pity, of course, that we have not yet learned how to make good turbodiesels (as well as normal diesel fuel). Diesel would definitely be better. The passability is normal, but there are not enough blockages.
I loaded the declared 800 kg into the body, but for him it is still a bit too much, but 600 kg can be transported without problems on any of our off-road. The maximum speed at which I drove is 140, but usually I drive 90 - 100.
Summing up, I will say that I wanted to take a car with a large carrying capacity, and so that it was passable, and up to 500 thousand rubles, and I wanted it to be a car, and not a museum exhibit. Having bought a car and traveled a little, I concluded that UAZ has no competitors in this segment. In short, happy with the car.
Problems that have surfaced: I won't say anything new: the build quality is lame (although I probably got a good copy), as well as the quality of the painting. Current malfunctions for the year: the oil tap leaked (replaced under warranty), and at the beginning of winter the lock broke (also changed under warranty) and the mesh filter in the gas tank was clogged.
