"The results of the work have exceeded our expectations!" - With these words the Managing Director of Sumitimo Rubber Industries, Minoru Nishi, began the presentation of the studded new Dunlop products. Intrigued Nishi-san ...

Bridges between the shoulder and center tread zones provide rigidity

Judging by the indices, SP Winter ice 02 (bus for passenger cars) and Grandtrek Ice02 (off-road tire) are a modification of the previous model - SP Winter Ice01, which debuted on the market back in 2008 and had good sales figures. “SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 will demonstrate high quality, comfort and affordability, - continued Minoru Nishi. "But at the same time, both models are completely new products." And in this Minoru did not sin against the truth. It should be added that SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 are twin brothers in design, physical parameters, and the composition of the rubber compound. Differences are only in the lines of standard sizes. And now in more detail about the tires themselves. Externally, the design of the tread, the new product is strikingly different from its predecessor. Moreover, the design is really quite original: the directional protector is all cut by sharp blocks of different sizes. But in this seeming chaos everything is "laid out on the shelves." The center rib creates a series of unconnected triangular blocks. This design is designed to ensure the directional stability of the tire in straight-line motion. But the checkers of the peripheral zone of the central rib are more focused on ensuring the stability of the tire when maneuvering - the tire should not "float" due to the displacement of the tread blocks, since the blocks of this part of the central rib are connected by jumpers with the checkers of the shoulder area. And this scheme works: when rearranging both on a snow cover and on an icy surface covered with snow, the behavior of SP Winter Ice02 is clear and predictable, without surprises. But the main part of the tire presentation took place directly on Lake Baikal, in conditions of snow and ice cover and an almost perfect winter. But what about our regions, in which most winter period are we driving through the snow slush? Numerous and fairly wide transverse grooves (if not to say - channels) are designed to cope with this scourge, providing a sufficiently effective removal of moisture from the contact patch. And yet in winter we are most concerned about the level of grip of tires on snow and ice. Speaking of tread, Dunlop was proud to talk about the unique three-dimensional sipes of the tread blocks that contribute to that very grip. The original shape of the edges of sufficiently long sipes provides the tread blocks with additional rigidity, which has a positive effect on both handling and uniform wear of the tread. And this technology was developed ... by the Japanese astrophysicist Kore Miura, after whom the Miura-ori was named.

This is how 16 rows of studs work on the ice surface.

New original spike and "branded" hole for its fixation

Today, the debate among car enthusiasts about which tires are preferable is no longer so active - a lot is determined by the wide choice of tires and the environment in which they are used. At the same time, Dunlop marketers believe that studded tires are the most sought after product. Therefore, another, and perhaps the main, innovation of SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 is a new stud design. In an aluminum case with an enlarged base for better fixation, a rectangular, four-edged, core made of durable and heat-resistant tungsten carbide is installed. The holes in the tread blocks fix the strictly oriented stud as efficiently as possible. Studded SP Winter Ice02 and Grand trek Ice02 are fully compliant Technical regulations Of the Customs Union, which comes into force in January 2016 and regulates the number of studs per running meter of a tire - no more than 60 pieces. I asked Minoru Nishi if the developers were tempted to increase the number of thorns and prove the compliance of such a model with environmental standards by testing? Nishi-san just shrugged his shoulders. “For what? Our setup provides 16 rows of studs and we are quite satisfied with the performance in this tire specification. " On icy surfaces, the SP Winter Ice02 tires are really good at both braking and acceleration. Compared to the previous model, the braking and acceleration rates on ice are 13% and 25% higher, respectively. By the way, the performance became better in the snow (7% and 10%, respectively). And this is already a merit of the design of the tread, coupled with the composition of the rubber compound from which it is made. The tire, traditionally for winter studded models, uses a two-layer tread. The rigid lower part not only provides the tire with stability in terms of handling, but also improves the retention of the cleat (for which an original hole has been developed in the tread layer). And the upper, softer compound with a high silica content contributes to reliable grip on snow and ice surfaces. And here is another know-how - the technology of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd, called 4D Nano Design, which allows at the development stage to model variants at the molecular level. Thus, the developers were able to provide optimal strong chemical bonds in the material from which the tread layer is made, and to provide the same compromise between tire grip and handling. And the last thing. To be honest, when choosing tires, we pay attention to the country of origin. Say, is it possible, say, in the southern latitudes, to develop a worthy tire for the Russian winter? The SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 models, which were developed at the headquarters of the technical department of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd, located in the Japanese city of Kobe, were tested both at the northern proving grounds in Japan and at the proving ground in Elvsbin, Sweden, and, as mentioned above , on our lake Baikal. As for the choice, the SP Winter Ice02 model on our market is presented in 46 standard sizes with landing diameters from 13 to 20 inches and with profiles in the range from 35 to 70, and the Grandtrek Ice02 model has 42 standard sizes in its line with landing diameters from 15 to 21 inches and with profiles from 35 to 75.

Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 is a premium winter studded tire with directional tread pattern for passenger cars and crossovers.

Country of origin: Thailand.

The Dunlop brand belongs to the American.

Test Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 from the Russian "Za Rulem", conducted in 2016

In 2016, experts from the Russian publication Za Rulem tested the Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 winter tire in the size 195/65 R15 and compared it with eleven similar budget, medium and premium studded tires.

Test results

According to the results of the test, Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 took the ninth place in the overall standings and received an expert rating of "good".

Their best qualities the tire opened in the snow, where it showed a short braking distance and good time overclocking. The behavior of the tire on ice is less unambiguous: it has average braking qualities and acceleration, but the worst handling. Dunlop showed herself worst of all on asphalt: both on dry and wet surfaces, her results are below average, although without significantly lagging behind the leaders.

DisciplineA placeA comment
Braking on wet asphalt11 The braking distance is 2.6 meters longer than the leader of the test.
Dry braking9 The braking distance is 2.3 meters longer than the leader of the test.
Braking on ice6 The braking distance is 2.6 meters longer than the leader of the test.
Handling on ice12 The average time to complete the route is 3.2 seconds longer than that of the leader of the test.
Acceleration on ice6 The acceleration time to 30 km / h is 1 sec longer than that of the leader of the test.
Snow braking2 The braking distance is 0.1 meters longer than the leader of the test.
Acceleration in the snow8-11 The acceleration time to 40 km / h is 0.4 seconds longer than that of the test leader.
Economy at 60km / h4-11 Fuel consumption is 0.1 l / 100 km higher than that of the leader of the test.
Economy at 90km / h9-12 One and the worst results. Fuel consumption is 0.2 l / 100 km higher than that of the test leader.

Review of the experts who conducted the test:

It brakes very well on snow and provides high cross-country ability. Long braking distances on wet asphalt and poor road holding. On ice - worst lateral grip. One of the most high costs fuel at a speed of 90 km / h.

Tested tires list:

It would seem that it is impossible to come up with something radically new with winter tires. After all, the optimal number of studs per square centimeter, the chemical composition of the tires, the tread pattern have long been calculated ... And all these assurances from manufacturers that, they say, "we have reduced the braking distance, increased efficiency, reduced noise, increased wear resistance" are more like a marketing ploy rather than the truth. However, having been on a test drive of the new winter tires from Dunlop, we have to admit that modern technology really allows tire workers to evolve with each new season.

Two modifications were presented at the test: tires for Dunlop SP Winter ICE 03 cars, installed on the Audi A3, and "shoe" for crossovers and SUVs Dunlop Grandtrek ICE 03, which were equipped with Toyota Land Cruiser 200. The tests took place on a huge ice track, where it was possible to use a lot of rubber at various speeds and types of surfaces.

60% more

What, in the first place, distinguishes the new generation ICE 03 from what was on store shelves last year? The number of spikes immediately catches the eye: the new product has 60% more of them than in old model ICE 02. And the shape of the thorn is quite different from what we are used to seeing.

Nailed ...

The company's engineers have created, in fact, a new "nail" for their tires, and with a number of unique properties. First, the spike became directional and was called Anti-Tilt (which can be translated as "anti-tilt"). Thanks to this, when entering a turn, even at a decent speed, it bites better into the icy road surface and the car goes as if on rails. In addition, the so-called heel of the spike has been enlarged (the part that is hidden from our eyes and is located inside the protector). This solution made it possible to increase the reliability of fixation in the seat, which means not only to extend the stay of the studs in the rubber, but also to improve traction.

The cleat on the ICE 03 is an aluminum with a tungsten carbide core. It seems to be nothing revolutionary. However, the designers decided to make a beveled carbide insert. This made it possible to significantly reduce the noise level and achieve the fact that the carbide core is easier to bite into the ice almost perpendicularly. In addition, sharpened side edges appeared on the spike, increasing lateral grip in corners, and during any other maneuvers.

At the same time, despite the fact that there are significantly more spikes in the rubber, this did not affect the weight of the product in any way, since the new "teeth" are more compact and lighter than their previous version. For lovers of exact numbers, let's say that one spike weighs only 0.8 grams, while on the ICE 02 it weighed 1.1 grams.

Computer games

Creating new models SP Winter ICE 03 and Grandtrek ICE 03, Dunlop specialists tried to adapt them as much as possible to the Russian realities of operation. After all, we often have a strong frost in the morning replaced by a thaw, and the tire should work equally well both on ice and in a snowy mess. High wear resistance of rubber is also desirable. And so, in order to achieve the optimal chemical composition of the tire, which would show the same good characteristics Both in the fierce cold and in the spring flood, using 4D NANO computer technology, chemists began to simulate the composition at the molecular level.

As a result, artificial intelligence has deduced the perfect combination of silicon dioxide (it is responsible in tires for their rigidity and durability) and high molecular weight polymer (its task is to ensure sufficient softness and elasticity of rubber).

Thus was obtained optimal balance wear resistance, stiffness and elasticity for the best grip on snow, ice, wet and dry asphalt. According to the manufacturer's assurances, this rubber model will last much longer than its predecessors on the factory floor.

It never gets rounder

A bit strange wording, but nevertheless Dunlop representatives called Winter ICE "zero third" the most ... round tire. Of course, we are not talking about the fact that some other rubber is in the shape of a brick or a hexagon. The point is that thanks to the latest equipment, on which Dunlop tires are produced, and modern technology, the manufacturer has achieved absolute geometric accuracy of the tire.

The structure of the carcass using the Equilibrium technology and the arrangement of the elements of the internal structure of the tire allows you to maintain the shape of the contact patch and evenly distribute the pressure in it when different types loads: acceleration and deceleration, lateral overloads, uniform motion. This property helps maintain safe grip in various driving conditions while maintaining smoothness and comfort. Simply put, the new Dunlop tire remains a perfectly round tire in all conditions.

Of course, perfect "roundness", balanced chemical composition and high-tech studs are not enough for a winter tire to perform well. After all, the protector plays an important role. As on ICE 02 (remember, this Dunlop model 2015), the tread remained directional for the new season. The space between closely spaced tread blocks is formed into long, winding grooves, similar to a riverbed.

This natural shape helps to instantly remove water, slush and sludge from the contact patch, significantly reducing the risk of aquaplaning and increasing grip on wet roads. Judging by the annotation to rubber, such a pattern allows you to output up to 20 liters of liquid per second at a speed of 80 km / h. A very decent indicator.

Correct "cutting"

Another interesting feature is the V-shaped arrangement and structure of the tread blocks, which, according to the developers' idea, should provide good contact of the car on the snow and thereby increase its cross-country ability. I'd like to add that on the "skating rinks" Dunlop Grandtrek ICE 03, Land cruiser The 200 is really good at rowing on virgin snow.

Photo and description

Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 (Ice 02) is a mass-produced winter studded tire with directional design for passenger cars launched in 2015. The model is characterized by good stability on ice, excellent grip on snow and wet asphalt, easy handling.

The Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 tires have been designed for use in harsh winter conditions, as evidenced by the presence of snowflake icy peaks in the sidewall design.

The directional central part of the SP Winter Ice02 tread, made up of triangular blocks, provides stable handling by accelerating the removal of snow slurry and water outside the contact patch. The unique drainage system contributes to quick self-cleaning of the tread, high resistance to aqua and slash planning and excellent grip on winter roads.

The shoulder blocks of the Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 tread are connected to each other by bridge jumpers, which increases the stiffness of the tire and stability of handling on any winter surfaces. Chamfered central tread blocks and wide sloped grooves effectively compact the snow, increasing the tire's permeability on loose snow surfaces.

The proprietary technology of three-dimensional siping "Miura-Ori" prevents the tread blocks from breaking, as a result of which they retain their characteristics and ensure uniform tread wear. As the technician Shina.Guide notes, the long traction edges of the sipes ensure reliable contact with ice and snow, as well as precise and quick response to steering turns.

The element of Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 tires is ice. Their directional tungsten carbide core anti-skid studs provide high penetration and stability on ice.

The use of another patented technology of the manufacturer, called 4D Nano Design, allowed not only to model the tire, but also to evaluate its performance in dynamics at the molecular level. / p>

Performance characteristics Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 versus predecessor Dunlop SP Winter Ice 01

The engineers were able to strengthen the chemical bonds and maintain the elasticity of the rubber compound. As a result, the tires of the Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 model are less deformed, retain their rigidity and grip properties.

Behind the wheel: Test drive of Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 and Dunlop Grandtrek Ice 02 tires

The recently presented winter spikes Dunlop Grandtrek Ice 02 and Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 were in the hands of experts from the Russian magazine "Za Rulem", who tested both new products on the ice of Lake Baikal, on asphalt and on the snow in an attempt to find differences between both tires from their predecessors ...

Then Sergei Mishin says: “The instructor, sitting on the right seat, shows me the path of the antenna radio: Take it to the left, now move along this road. And where did he find his way here? Around us is an icy plain. Only on the right, about eight hundred meters away, the unfrozen mouth of the Angara hovers slightly. The Baikal ice is polished by the winds so that, it seems, through it, as through a lens, you can see the bottom. Only here and there a snowball. And what does he hold on to on this slippery surface? I follow the command and turn the steering wheel to the left - Volkswagen tiguan shod in Dunlop Grandtrek Ice 02 tires, without further thought, but at the same time quite gently maneuvers.

- Do you see two lanes? We must slip between them.

Mains here are called polynyas, which, among the hummocks, an uninitiated person is not able to notice. Maneuvering between open windows half a kilometer deep, with great difficulty I suppress the insistent desire to jump out of the car and send everything to hell. The seat belt is fastened behind the backrest front seat... This is a rule of the local Emergencies Ministry: it is strictly forbidden to wear a seat belt while driving on ice. The "tied" one has less chance of getting out if the car falls into the water.

The instructor reads my thoughts and encourages, occasionally stopping wrong actions:

- Skip the cracks on the move, no need to maneuver before the break. Pass the snowflakes in the hummocks at high speeds so as not to slip. I grumble silently, but I manage to note that these tires do not have a tendency to slip, they confidently cut through the snowdrifts. "

The fact that this is testing new Dunlop tires, and not an extreme journey, Sergey Mishin remembered only when he drove onto the asphalt. On hard surfaces, the tires did not feel as clear as on the more expensive Continental or Michelin tires. Volkswagen Tiguan sluggishly reacted to steering with obvious delays, which, however, is quite natural for representatives of winter tires of average price segment.

The tire guru solidified his impressions when comparing the new products with the Dunlop Grandtrek Ice and Dunlop SP Winter Ice tires, which were produced long before the appearance of the second generation tires. According to Sergei Mishin, progress is obvious. Grandtrek Ice 02 and SP Winter Ice 02 behave much more intuitively, on winter surfaces they behave more confidently and have better grip.

Both models are already on sale. The crossover Dunlop Grandtrek Ice02 is available in sizes from 205/70 R15 to 265/45 R21, and the light Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 model is available in “calibers” from 155/70 R13 to 275/35 R20. Both studs have a single speed index - T (190 km / h).

Dunlop's engineers did not overdo it, so both new winter tires have the same design and feature the same proprietary technologies. For example, the transverse sipes "Miura-Ori" improve the grip of the tire on snowy and icy surfaces, and on hard road surfaces increase handling and improve braking properties.

The tread on both models has two layers, says a Shina.Guide technician. At the top there is a softer rubber layer, which is designed for reliable contact with winter surfaces, and at the bottom - a tougher one, responsible for enhancing the clarity of reactions on any road and holding the studs, which are worth talking about separately.

The anti-skid studs in the new models feature a larger base and an aluminum body, which reduces the weight of the tire and improves corrosion resistance. The studs are made of tungsten carbide for reliable contact with snow and ice. Both models feature a 16-row stud.

Test drive the new Dunlop studded | Colesa.ru

Organizing a test drive for journalists is a troublesome business, but it can be solved. The main thing is to choose a location, plan a route, and then it all depends on what your imagination is enough for. It is much more difficult to organize a test of their products for a tire company. And the point here is not at all that special equipment is needed for accurate quality measurements, and all other tests are purely subjective. The specificity of this segment is in seasonal demand. In late summer - early autumn, people actively buy products for winter, and in winter - in spring they begin to think about summer tires Oh. Therefore, for each season there should already be reviews on new products, but where to find snow in summer and sun in winter? So rubber manufacturers have to look for unusual locations around the world in order to reverse the usual climatic conditions.

When the first spring sun had already appeared in Moscow, and passers-by began to think about light windbreakers and make plans for a summer vacation, we went to Irkutsk. Here passers-by are still wrapping themselves in warm down jackets and snowdrifts lie on the streets. Although here the approach of spring is already felt, and the sun begins to bake. Test the new line in the metropolis winter tires The company did not become Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02, but sent representatives of automotive publications to the ice of Lake Baikal. There is probably no better place for a winter tire test in spring. The entire surface of the lake is covered with an even layer of multi-meter ice, smooth as glass and very slippery. Each step on such a surface is difficult, and we are offered to go to the lake surface in cars, shod in a new product from the Dunlop company, and check how the rubber works on slippery surfaces. If the tires behave well here, then on the track in real road conditions you can rely on it one hundred percent.

Before going on the ice, some theoretical material. The new Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 tires differ from the previous model with a unique tread design. It is easily recognizable, and its powerful blocks indicate that this tire is designed for harsh winters with large skids and icy roads. The sidewall design with ice tops and snowflakes emphasizes the tire's purpose for winter conditions̆ operation. The special directional design of the central part of the tread in the form of triangles significantly improves the drainage of water and snow mass, as well as increases handling stability. The unique design of the drainage grooves running into the central part of the tread also helps to more effectively remove water and snow from the contact patch. In the shoulder area, the tread blocks of Dunlop winter studded tires are connected to each other by bridge jumpers, which increases handling stability on all types of surfaces. Oversized grooves and chamfered tread blocks effectively compact the snow, increasing the tire's permeability on loose snow.

Winter tires have special slots in the tread blocks, called sipes, which is a significant difference from summer tires. They help the tread blocks to cling to the bumps that are in the contact patch of the tire.

The new tires use an exclusive technology - Miura-Ori 3D sipes with special edges that prevent tread blocks from breaking, maintaining their characteristics and ensuring uniform wear. Longer zig-zag sipes improve tire grip on snow and ice, in addition to providing faster steering response.

Directional cleats with a rectangular grooved core are the secret behind the excellent grip of the new Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 winter tires on ice. The special shape and size of the core (2.8 mm x 2 mm) and the large spike base (9 mm x 8 mm) provide increased penetration and stability when driving on ice. The core is made of tungsten carbide, a hard and heat-resistant material. The body of the cleat is made of aluminum alloy, which makes it significantly lighter than on previous models.

The seat, specially designed for the size and shape of the spike, significantly increases the reliability of the fastening and significantly reduces the risk of losing it. New tire has a directional tread pattern, on which new studs are installed in a certain way. The use of a new-shaped spike made it possible to increase the number of facets of contact of the surface with the spike core to four. This technology has improved the grip of the new tires when accelerating and braking on icy surfaces.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries has also optimized the Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02's road surface contact pattern for improved handling, more even tire wear and longer tire life. This was achieved thanks to the use of a two-layer tread.

The upper layer, composed of a soft rubber compound specially adapted for studded rubber, provides improved grip on snow or ice. The stiffer base layer is responsible for the safety of the studs and further enhances the handling characteristics.

The profile of winter studded tires Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 of the correct round shape reduces the deformation stress of the tire in the area from the shoulder area to the sidewall. This improves both fuel efficiency and handling, as well as the level of ride comfort.

The theoretical information, of course, is excellent, but I want to understand how the new winter tire works in real conditions. Several special stages were built specially for the test. First of all, we go to the area where you can estimate the length of the braking distance. Looking at the flat ice surface, one gets the feeling that the car will not be able to move, let alone slow down in the allotted corridor. But the visual sensations are deceiving. We press the gas pedal, the spike bites into the ice surface, and now we have accelerated to the required speed. We approach the braking corridor, and the car, biting into the surface, stops in the allotted space. This means that the declared technologies work, and during emergency braking on bare ice, the driver can easily avoid a collision.

We change the exercise and go to a paved track with a lot of turns and the ability to accelerate. And in these conditions, the new tires demonstrate good performance. When entering a turn, the car, although it receives a slight drift, is quite within the limits of the permissible. So even if your route is on a winter road with a lot of turns, you will feel confident.

We have seen with our own eyes that the tires demonstrate excellent grip on icy surfaces, but for residents of megalopolises it is important how studded tires behave on asphalt. Therefore, we drive off the surface of the lake and go to a high hill, from where a panoramic view of the local beauty opens up. At first, the road goes on cold asphalt with a slight coating of water. The surface is very similar to the one that we meet on the streets of our cities. Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 behave quite adequately here, but the most important thing is that we do not get additional noise in the cabin. The asphalt ends and we find ourselves on dirt road... The coverage in this area is not simple: solid snow is mixed with porridge, which has already begun to melt in the sun, and sometimes thawed patches appear on the way. Add to this that the road goes uphill, and then you can understand the complexity of the proposed route. Test cars grip such a difficult surface and climb to the point we need.

It is clear that for an accurate assessment of all the qualities declared by the manufacturer of the new Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 winter tires, special equipment, a team of professionals and a training ground are needed. But based on my subjective opinion, I can say that during the time spent on Lake Baikal, the novelty seemed to me very comfortable and quiet. And on a winter road, the most important thing is that the tire shows excellent grip and with this by question Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 are doing just fine.

New winter tires Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 for passenger cars and SUVs have been available on the Russian market since spring 2015. The novelty is produced in 88 standard sizes and covers a wide range of consumers. Russian market.

    Pros:
  • high impact strength,
  • grip on ice.
    Disadvantages:
  • low smoothness of the course.

Thanks to the curved studs with powerful rectangular inserts on the ice, these tires provide good grip. On the handling track, they endow Vesta with a gambling tendency to skid, but for ordinary drivers this is rather a minus. And on a snow-handling track, good times prevent poorly predictable slides from showing.

On asphalt, the grip is average, but the noise doesn't stand up to scrutiny - the loudest tires in the test. And some of the toughest. But these tires are better than others in resisting impacts.

Review of winter tires Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02

Understanding the features of the Dunlop SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 winter tires with an innovative stud design

Judging by the indices, SP Winter Ice02 (a tire for passenger cars) and Grandtrek Ice02 (an SUV tire) are a modification of the previous model - SP Winter Ice01, which debuted on the market back in 2008 and had good sales figures. “The SP Winter Ice02 and Grandtrek Ice02 models will demonstrate high quality, comfort and affordability,” continued Minoru Nishi. But what about our regions, in which most of the winter period we drive through snow slush?

Today, the debate among motorists about which tires are preferable, spike or friction, is no longer so active - a lot is determined by the wide choice of tires and the environment in which they are used. Studded SP Winter Ice02 and Grand trek Ice02 fully comply with the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union, which comes into force in January 2016 and regulates the number of studs per running meter of a tire - no more than 60 pieces.

Hello. Pereobulsy early - in early October, we started to frost and my wife asked to take her wheels for balancing because she is a novice driver and is afraid of ice. There are gislaved nord frost 100, which she got along with the car from me, and I both shod them off, and did not balance them anymore (the tires covered about 35,000 km in 4 seasons, and there is still enough for this season). So, having arrived at the tire service, it turned out to be a small queue, and I decided to change my car at the same time, because I had to rearrange the wheels (I bought the car in the spring on summer and iron). At the same time, the run-in will take place ... And it passed on the asphalt for about 2500 km - it got warmer, it got cold ... Autumn. On the asphalt, with a slight overdose of gas, it breaks into the axle box - I had to get used to it. It brakes dry on average, but on wet it is even good (though you cannot compare it with gislaved because it behaves like a summer one on the asphalt - I have never seen anything like this before). There is practically no aquaplaning, of course, if the puddle is not knee-deep, and so 120 km / h in a rainstorm is not a problem (I no longer accelerated the run-in anyway). During the asphalt pokatushek I lost only 2 thorns on the front left wheel, and then on the same line (outside and inside) apparently pulled out when I drove onto the curb. The noise on the asphalt is very strong - no longer from the spikes, but from the rough tread pattern. Howls straight. And then winter came with muddy roads, ice and snowfalls, and then the rubber revealed its potential. It brakes on the ice as if rooted to the spot, keeps the trajectory and, under the addition of gas, is screwed into the turn. A rectangular spike works an order of magnitude or even two better than a triangular spike of a Gislaved. Snow, porridge, does not prowl, slows down superbly. The permeability is excellent. The noise on the winter road disappears immediately. This rubber is specifically for the harsh ZiM. Summing up, I would like to say that if you are a resident of a metropolis and often drive on asphalt, then this is probably not your option (especially when there is such an option as gislaved). If noise is a critical choice factor for you, you too will. Well, I live in my house, even within the city limits, but almost every day I go 25 km there and the same amount back to work early in the morning - at 5:50 am the road workers are still sleeping, even though this is the m4 don highway, in any weather, that's why I needed just evil tires, on which you can be sure that you will get where you need to in any conditions. And if you also take into account the price of this product (I took in the summer in the amount of 185 / 65r14 at 2200r per wheel) - this is generally a gift - thanks to the car! Good luck to everyone on the road, and do not forget whatever you are wearing there - winter is WINTER, and you should not once again risk either iron or the life of yours or those around you.

Nikolay Anatolyevich about the tire Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02

I want to leave a review about this rubber. I have been using it for 3 years, for the given time lost 1 spike per wheel. The rubber is moderately stiff, plus the grip on the rearrangement, and understandable controllability during acceleration and rut. Rarely does anyone keep the track and snowflakes like that, you go perfectly without straining your hands, like in summer. In the second year of operation on the track entered sharp turn at 140, it was phenomenal, the car didn’t even drift to the side of the road. On the other, I would have smoked behind the curb with wheels upside down. The side grip is excellent. In deep snow, too, everything is fine, only I drive from the front-wheel drive to the garages, while the rest go on foot. Some crossovers also either sit or walk on foot, but here the question is rather a matter of skills. The rubber goes well on the virgin soil, but if you just add the throttle inaccurately, it immediately begins to bury itself. The fault is deep tread blocks. For the price, quality, excellent tires, well balanced.

But!!! There is one significant drawback, this is the noise, or rather the hum on the asphalt. It is incredibly strong! It feels like you are flying a helicopter like mi8, etc.

Conducted an experiment, the noise decreases after 130 on the highway. Considering the budget of the Shumka polo, this is an awesome drawback. In all other respects, excellent tires for both leisurely driving and for fast and active movement in the city, on the highway and in deep snow.

I put this rubber on a Mercedes 221 body. Satisfied. The thorns do not make much noise and everything is predictable on the ice. I used Yokohama on the last car. Also a thorn. Conclusion one - dunlop a cut above

Eugene about the tire Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02

I decided to respond about this rubber, I will say right away, flattering. I walked about 1.5-2 thousand km on it. and in all weather conditions. At first it was dry November, here we can say about the background noise. He certainly is, but absolutely not annoying. I'll make a reservation, the car has good sound insulation, but in comparison with Bridge, it's just very quiet. When running in, at a speed of exactly 60 km / h (+/- 5), a slight increase in noise was noticed, as if the sound entered resonance. When changing the speed parameters, he went to his usual parameter. Over time, this "effect" came to naught. In general, the noise level for winter tires is 5! On dry asphalt, I did not tumble on it, so I can not judge how she holds it, was running in. But, on winter tires on dry asphalt you need to drive like on summer winter... I think it's understandable) Then winter came, this year we have it real, the city is littered with snow right up to the shops) My new shoes just impressed! Rows so that even some kind of superfluous self-confidence appears! Just a beast, I am very pleased! Neither fluffy, nor wet, nor loose snow never made us unaware. Rubber has never failed. Moreover, in the courtyards there were even cases when I was driving when others just stood and skidded! On the roads, the ABS was triggered extremely rarely, always good braking... Side skid - what is it? I have not heard. Keeps it clear! ... In general, guys, I highly recommend! Just two hands for !!!

Artemy about the tire Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02

Were purchased at new car... On the asphalt, whether wet or dry, they drive without question, they don't feel the rut at all. The behavior on the asphalt does not differ from a good summer one, except that the thorns are noisy. The thorns stick out quite strongly. In this regard, it is necessary to note three points: the stability of the pike, noise and tenacity on ice. Spikes fly, you need to drive carefully. It makes a lot of noise, which is not surprising. But, the hold on the ice is beyond praise. The spikes are rectangular in shape, I enter most of the polished races, slides, yards. For ice - five. The tread provides good grip when driving on snow, both rolled and fresh. Car on front wheel drive rides on the grill in the snow without any problems, punching his own rut. Rubber is great for our winter (Murmansk region) and for arctic conditions generally. Most likely, I would have taken it again. "Most likely" - because I would like more firmly seated thorns.
