Barum Bravuris 2:
with checkers in the form of shark fins

This tire will look great both on a family car and on a retouched car. It has a striking asymmetrical tread pattern with dense outer shoulder blocks that provide stable handling and safe braking on dry roads, and funky curved inner blocks. Together with shark fin blocks, they reduce the risk of aquaplaning and provide reliable braking on wet roads. Add here four wide longitudinal channels - and it becomes clear that the tire's water resistance is all right. And how impressive one of the ribs of the central zone looks, as if laid out with the letters "M"! The tire successfully resists wear thanks to its optimized profile and the latest silica rubber compound.

The tire is available in a wide range of sizes and prices. For the 185/55 R15 N (210 km / h) option, you need to pay about 3000 rubles, which is generally inexpensive for such a model, and if you have huge rollers, say 255/35 R20 Y (300 km / h), - do not skimp on 11,900 rubles. (for one wheel, of course).

Sava Intensa UHP:
combination of incongruous

The very combination of the concepts of "budget" and "ultra-high-speed" (that is, UHP) is already unusual. But this model for sports and luxury cars really combines outstanding (in its price category, of course) handling on dry and wet roads with a high level of comfort. The wide tread provides optimal pressure distribution and a large contact patch, while the massive center rib and rigid shoulder blocks keep your back dry when cornering. Four wide longitudinal channels quickly remove water, and thanks to the special formula of the silica-based rubber compound, it adheres perfectly to the wet road. The tire carcass made of modern super-strong materials optimally distributes the load over the entire tread width and significantly reduces rolling resistance, which means your car will be less hungry.

All this pleasure is not so out of reach. For example, the popular size 225/55 R16 W (270 km / h) will cost about 4,700-5,000 rubles. Larger tires, for example 255/35 R18 Y (300 km / h), will cost about 7300 rubles.

Cordiant Sport 3:
drives on normal roads

The domestic brand, successfully operating in the B-segment, has recently introduced another tire for active driving, which is stated in the name itself. Externally, the tire really has all the hallmarks of a sports model. This is for you both the outer shoulder area of massive blocks, and three solid central ribs, and the inner side, separated by transverse arcuate grooves. All of this promises good cornering grip, reliable directional stability and precise steering response. Dry-Cor technology eliminates directional fluctuations and does not allow the tire to deform in a corner, maintaining tire grip and stability of the contact patch, as well as preventing drifts and skids. The optimized frame distributes the load for better pressure distribution. The designers also worked on the composition of the rubber compound under the self-explanatory name Sport-Mix. It is created on the basis of a combination of two rubbers - styrene-butadiene and diene, where the first is responsible for grip, and the second reduces tire heat. But, despite the abundance of beautiful terms in the description, this tire does not belong to the category of truly sporty and is not suitable for track days, although it makes it possible to steer with pleasure on ordinary roads.

Tire prices are pretty humane. Option 195/65 R15 V (240 km / h) can be found from 2000 r. Running size 225/55 R16 V will cost from 4800 rubles.

Tigar Syneris:
contradictory all such

Of the inexpensive high-speed models, this is perhaps the most controversial. To begin with, it looks great. Symmetrical directional tread, two central ribs with checkers resembling an arrow feather pattern, graceful shoulder blocks, cut with curved grooves - all this will decorate any car. This concept is typical for "rain" tires, and this tire holds really well on the wet road. On dry asphalt, it will also delight you with a soft ride, moderate noise and good grip, and at high speed. But you have to pay for the pleasure, and this time not with money (the prices are just fine here). But the tire's resistance to wear, to put it mildly, is not the best. If you burn rubber at the start and screech with it in corners, it is not a fact that it will last more than a couple of seasons.

The common size 205/55 R16 V can be found from about 2600 rubles, and the largest in the lineup, 245/45 R18 W (270 km / h), will cost about 11,000 rubles.

Kama Euro-129:
driver's set of qualities

Popular domestic rubber, which combines several qualities that are so necessary for our drivers: strength, catchy pattern, relatively high speed limit, good handling and low price... The model debuted in 2009 and is still in steady demand. In an asymmetric tread pattern, the outer side provides maximum grip on dry surfaces, while the inner side provides maximum grip on wet surfaces. The outer shoulder blocks are specially stiff to provide good lateral grip when cornering. At the same time, strong sidewalls guarantee stability under lateral loads and at the same time protect the tire from deformation on the road. Russian hinterland... Three wide longitudinal grooves and specially shaped blocks help to remove water from the contact patch. Another feature is the patented tire wear indicator, which allows you to determine the residual depth of the tread pattern, and is also able to identify at the initial stage a violation of camber / toe-in. We will not venture to call a tire a sports tire, but the fact that it allows you to drive quickly even on a mediocre surface is for sure.

Even a small standard size 175/70 R13 starts with a speed index H (210 km / h), and you can buy it from 1500 r. Option 215/60 R16 V (240 km / h) will cost from 2700 rubles.

Kumho Solus HS51:
engineering above all

This Korean tire looks like a classic sports model: asymmetrical pattern, rounded, almost solid ribs, deliberately disregard for design - engineering above all. Everything in school: the design of the central part of the tire is responsible for the stability of the tire on a straight line, and the impressive shoulder blocks are used for efficient cornering and resistance to drift of the car from a given trajectory. The tire is also durable: it features a steel belt and seamless cord, as well as a reinforced carcass and a reliable bead lanyard. In the company's lineup, the Solus brand is worn by several tires of different quality, so pay attention to the alphanumeric index.

With all its advantages, the model is moderately available. Its smallest size 195/50 R15 V starts at 2400 rubles, and the largest, 235/55 R17 W (270 km / h), costs from 6100 rubles.

Federal Super Steel 595:
sports without any reservations

A truly charismatic model that won the Taiwan Excellence Award for quality, excelled in drifting and rally competition, a sports tire with no qualifications. She is also simply beautiful - the directional V-pattern looks powerful and mesmerizing. But it's not just aesthetics. The tread blocks evenly distribute pressure over the entire surface of the contact patch, instantly drain water from it, ensure the stability of the car on a straight line and grip in corners. At the same time, the high qualities of the tire are retained in the course of its wear. Steel cord is responsible for strength. True, due to this, it weighs a little more than some analogues, and if someone is concerned about the characteristics of unsprung masses, then there is a reason to think. Otherwise, the tire can promise good acceleration and quick braking, stability on the autobahn and mountain serpentines, and good mileage.

The price tag starts from the ridiculous for such a set of characteristics 2600 p. (you get the size 195/50 R15 V) and reaches about 8100 rubles. (for 275/30 R19 W).

Outcomes

So, let's summarize. Most people expect two qualities from summer tires: a low price and a decent ride quality. But if you are a supporter of gambling and like to take it with a breeze, it becomes more difficult to choose. However, you see: there are options. To make your choice even easier, we have compiled an illustrative table, from which it is clear what to expect from each of the models.

Announcement
Your personal mechanic. Puncture! And the nearest workshop is far away, it is night time ... Did you get into such a situation?

For the vast majority of drivers, tire conversations usually end in the same way as disputes between football fans of different teams could have ended. Simply to each his own, and each evaluates in his own way one or another characteristic of the tire, not to mention the fact that most of the motorists do not have to evaluate more than 1-2 sets of tires, and therefore they have nothing to compare them with. At the same time, it is possible to determine the best tires in a completely objective way - for example, exactly the way we chose to determine the best summer tires of the 2015 season. What and how we evaluated:

  • The cost of rubber - we took one of the most common dimensions - 195/60 R15 and compared, basically, it.
  • Tire reviews are the main selection criterion best tires.
  • Tire ratings in reviews and test drives, evaluations by professionals.
  • After selecting many of the best tires, we sifted out even more of them, comparing their production technology, environmental friendliness.
  • Each tire in the rating must perform equally well in different road conditions: at high speed, in hot weather and on dry and wet roads, on bituminous patches, on concrete surfaces, in rut conditions and, of course, in pits and on speed bumps.

So, here's the best summer tires of 2015!

Michelin agilis

Perhaps this best rubber from one of the most famous brands. To tell the truth, we found only two negative reviews about this tire on the whole network, and this is not because there are few reviews about it; but even in these negative reviews (or, more precisely, moments), it was said about the behavior of Agilis in winter period... Thus, it is the best of the best summer tire among the inexpensive ones.

Michelin Agilis specifications:

It is not for nothing that tires are divided into winter and summer. Depending on the season, the rubber must take into account all climatic features. So, summer tires are made from more rigid rubber compounds, which provides excellent grip in the warm season. And the longitudinal stripes on the tread allow you to drain water from the contact patch in rainy weather.

Of course, each manufacturer uses its own tire manufacturing technology. And to answer the question: what kind of rubber is better to choose, as always, tests and reviews help.

How the summer tire test was carried out

The most important thing for checking all parameters of summer tires is the warm season, therefore summer tire test 2015 will be held at the height of the season, when car owners have already purchased tires, and we are presenting you with the results of last year's test, which is the most relevant in the 2015 summer season.

It is well known that the most reliable results of test rubber in Russia are published by two editions - “ " and " ". To compile our top ten, we took the weighted average results of two expert laboratories. Professionals evaluated handling, braking on wet and dry surfaces, directional stability, noise and driver comfort.

The next summer season is ahead, which means that soon you will have to change tires again, changing your car into summer tires. For most car owners, this period cannot be called easy, because you need to decide on the question - what kind of rubber is worth buying this year? To help you navigate the sea of new products, we decided to introduce you to the most interesting of them for the 2015 season, but if you plan to buy an "already proven option", then in the second part of the article we present the results of testing the most running tires for compact passenger cars... In general, read and choose.

So, Let's start with an overview of the new summer passenger tires, which are expected to appear in Russia in 2015.

The first on this list will be tires designed for fans of fast driving. The novelty received a rubber compound with a high content of silica, which guarantees high wear resistance, as well as significant fuel economy due to lower energy losses during friction. The tread of the Continental Semperit Speed-Life 2 tires has a directional pattern with scattering channels that ensure timely drainage of water from the contact patch area, and a rigid center rib, responsible for directional stability and steering precision when cornering. The design of the shoulder areas of the tire helps in the process of water drainage from the center section, and also provides sufficient traction when exiting paved roads onto soft ground. For full off-road driving, the Continental Semperit Speed-Life 2 tires, of course, are not suitable. Their main purpose is high-speed driving on asphalt roads, on which the novelty can become the main discovery of the year among the debuting tires.

The next novelty is an updated rubber, which received an improved multi-block tread pattern with three central polyhedral ribs and four drainage grooves. Maxxis PRO-R1 is a high-speed rubber designed exclusively for use on asphalt roads. Its intricate tread pattern with multiple curved and curving traction grooves maximizes wet grip, while its shoulder areas are designed with narrow grooves to reduce center noise for superior acoustic comfort. The new rubber compound of the Maxxis PRO-R1 tires is aimed at increasing the grip of the tire while increasing its wear resistance. Generally, Maxxis tires PRO-R1, according to the manufacturer, excellent trajectory, provide easy handling and acceptable braking distance.

Another new thing will appear in Russia by the summer of 2015 - an improved model, which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best in its price segment... This year Continental tires The ContiPremiumContact 5 features revised longitudinal groove geometry and new 3D sipes to dramatically improve wet performance. The shape of the center ribs of the tire has also been slightly tweaked, which means that the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tires have become more grippy and are able to further shorten the braking distance of the car. As before, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 maintains some of the best performance in terms of durability and acoustic comfort.

That's all for now, other manufacturers are in no hurry with "loud premieres", so at the moment we will limit ourselves to only three new products of 2015 on the summer tire market, which should be paid close attention to.

As for the models already presented on the summer rubber market, it's time to get acquainted with the rating compiled according to the results of a comprehensive test carried out by the specialists of the magazine "Behind the Wheel", during which, with the help of Lada priora 11 models of summer tires for compact cars were tested. As part of the testing, experts checked the car's handling and braking distance on a dry and wet track, assessed its directional stability, ride smoothness, acoustic comfort in the cabin, and also measured fuel consumption at speeds of 60 and 90 km / h. For each test, the tires received assessment points, the total of which influenced the balance of power in the ranking. Below is a short version of the rating of summer tires for compact cars, and you can find detailed test results of 2015 in the March issue of Za Rulem magazine.

"Honorable" last place with a score of 835 points went to tires produced in Thailand. With a symmetrical tread pattern, this rubber showed very fast results in all tests and only in terms of fuel economy was in the lead, demonstrating the best consumption at a speed of 90 km / h. Moreover, if we compare the braking distances of the outsider and the winner, it turns out that the rubber Bridgestone Ecopia The EP150 plays about 4 meters on wet pavement and almost 5 meters on dry. Actually, a test car easily fits into this distance.

The tenth line in the ranking of summer passenger tires of the 2015 season occupied Russian-made tires. These tires have an asymmetric tread with a tread depth that allows you not to be afraid of going on light off-road. The Matador Stella 2 scores 841 points, mainly due to its excellent fuel economy at all speeds. In addition, these tires have acceptable softness and provide satisfactory acoustic comfort, but low grip and poor handling even on dry surfaces negate all the advantages.

In ninth place with 867 points, tires also produced in Russia are located. Thanks to its well-designed directional tread pattern, this rubber shows nice results in terms of directional stability, ride comfort and handling, but at the same time has the highest fuel consumption, especially at a speed of 60 km / h.

One line above - on the eighth line of the rating- rubber of Turkish origin is located, also scored 867 points. Higher acoustic comfort and slightly more favorable fuel consumption helped Turkish tires climb higher. Of the other advantages of Formula Energy tires, we single out good directional stability. Of the minuses, we note the low handling both on dry and wet asphalt, as well as the "fear" of dirt roads.

Seventh place in the ranking of the best summer tires of 2015 are occupied by tires brought from Poland. Their result is 870 points and one of the best indicators of acoustic comfort among all tested models. Otherwise, BFGoodrich g-Grip performs satisfactorily close to rubber Cordiant Road Runner.

Sixth line went to tires of Hungarian production. Scoring 888 points, these asymmetric tread tires were noted for high acoustic comfort, reasonable braking distance, good behavior on the wet track, but at the same time they almost failed the road holding test, and in addition showed quite high fuel consumption.

List of top five leaders according to the results of the summer tires test opens, scored 889 points. Launched in the Philippines, this rubber proved to be quite balanced and economical in terms of fuel consumption at a speed of 90 km / h, but at the same time it is very tough, does not behave well on the ground and does not boast a good ride.

Fourth place the rating went to Russian-made tires, which managed to score 906 points. The main trump cards of Nordman SX rubber are excellent grip properties, good handling on wet roads and high acoustic comfort. There are also downsides. In particular, these tires lack a smooth ride, and in terms of directional stability, they are also not ideal.

"Bronze" in the rating of summer passenger tires of the 2015 season went to Japanese rubber, which has 907 points. Demonstrating high grip on any surface, as well as good handling, the tires Toyo proxes The CF2 fell significantly short of the other leaders in terms of acoustic comfort. At the same time, we note that with an average price of 2,180 rubles, this rubber is the most affordable among the top three.

Silver earned in 2015 tires made in Russia. Their result is 927 points. Among the advantages of this rubber, we single out excellent directional stability, which clearly stands out against the background of the rest of the test participants. In addition, tires Nokian Hakka Green hold the road well, provide good handling and guarantee high grip on any surface. Of the minuses of the Nokian Hakka Green, the low smoothness of the course stands out.

And finally first place in the rating with a score of 928 points, the aforementioned summer tires, imported from Portugal, were awarded. This rubber provides the shortest braking distances, excellent acoustic comfort and the best ride comfort. The wet handling and directional stability are slightly worse, but overall, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tires proved to be the most balanced tires tested.

Summarizing, we note that the most affordable tires tested to date are the Matador Stella 2 and Nordman SX tires, estimated on average at 1800 and 1970 rubles. The highest price (2655 rubles) has rubber Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, which took 1st place, but the most overvalued rubber in our opinion is the outsider of the 2015 rating - Bridgestone Ecopia EP150, sold for an average of 2370 rubles.

Modest 14-inch tires are not held in high esteem by manufacturers these days. Even budget cars are often fitted with 15-inch shoes. Therefore, explosive premieres in this size should not be expected: emerging new products are created mainly by scaling larger tires intended for expensive cars with wheels of larger diameter. But there is a silver lining: the less investment in development, the lower the price.

We carried out tests near Togliatti, at the AVTOVAZ test site, ironing its roads with one of the most massive domestic platforms: the aggregate carrier was a 106-strong Lada Priora, equipped with anti-lock braking system... According to our observations, some shortcomings in the car's behavior can be fully compensated for by installing high-quality tires.

The air temperature was 20–25 ºС.

FIRST LINE

We start with the most expensive ones. Tires ContiPremiumContact 5 sell for 2655 rubles apiece. Not cheap! As if to justify the price, they took first place, gaining 927 points. Among the main advantages are high speed at the rearrangement and short braking distance: one meter less than that of the closest competitor, when decelerating on wet asphalt from a speed of 80 km / h and as much as 3 meters when braking on dry land from 100 km / h.

For 2380 rubles goes Nokian Hakka Green... Born in Finland, made in Russia. New tire: in terms of development and time to market, comparable to the ContiPremiumContact 5. The green tire scored 926 points, just one point behind the Conti. Solid product. Moreover, the Hakka is balanced differently from the Conti: the car on these tires has more precise behavior during extreme maneuvering and high directional stability at high speed, as well as good feedback.

Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 a novelty for us, although this model has existed in the manufacturer's line for several years. Price - 2370 rubles. For her 11th place (835 points) in our test - too much! Ecopia EP150 demonstrates the weakest grip when braking: the difference with the leader is almost 4 meters on wet asphalt and almost 5 meters on dry. This is the length of the Priora!

It is better to forget about quick rearrangements: nimble maneuvers will come out sideways - in the literal sense of the word. The only bonus is the modest fuel consumption in the suburban mode. Perhaps the reason for the failure lies in the place of production? These tires came from Thailand, and Made in Japan tires have always performed better.

Modesty is not a vice

In the line of more modest tires, as well as in the top row, there are also weaklings who strive to sell at a higher price, and vice versa.

For the Japanese novelty Toyo Proxes CF2 ask for 2180 rubles. And she scored 907 points in our test and took a worthy third line. Tires with good braking properties also provide the possibility of confident extreme maneuvering - just like the Nokian Hakka Green model. You will only have to give up comfort: you cannot name a soft and quiet tire.

Tires are sold for 2165 rubles BFGoodrich g ‑ Grip from the pedigree of the Michelin company. That is why, apparently, they sell at a higher price, despite the "slower" speed index T (190 km / h). There are no obvious failures, but in all respects this tire is slightly below the average level. In our tests, it takes only the seventh position, in its piggy bank 870 points.

Model Formula Energy developed by by Pirelli, put up for 2150 rubles. But this tire cannot be tied to the racing formula, you cannot call it energetic: it is not suitable for extreme maneuvering. Keeping the car in corners requires extraordinary skill from the driver. Although on a straight line, the tires keep the car well even at high speed. As a result - 876 points and the eighth line for a pair with domestic tires Cordiant.

Korean tire Hankook Kinergy Eco(2135 rubles apiece) all characteristics are average. There are no failures, but also ups. Nevertheless, in the aggregate of all indicators, she scored 888 points and took already sixth place.

Russian Cordiant sell for 2135 rubles. In terms of characteristics, the Road Runner model is close to the Formula Energy tire: it is inferior to it in course clarity and comfort, but provides more intelligible handling in extreme conditions. 867 points, the eighth line of the rating.

ALMOST FREE

And so we dropped to the level of 2,000 rubles per wheel. It turns out that even for that kind of money, you can buy good tires - for example, Yokohama BluEarth... The Japanese Yoko always lists its tires at 15% less than its main competitor, Bridgestone, despite the fact that its performance is sometimes significantly higher. For example, in our test, the Yoko showed better braking properties and faster shifting speeds on wet roads. The BluEarth name was also reflected in the results: the Yoko tires achieved the lowest fuel consumption at 90 km / h. The result is 889 points and fifth place.

For loved by our motorists Nordman Nokian firms ask for 1970 rubles. The value for money is one of the best in our tests: 905 points and fourth place! (We consider the score over 900 points to be the criterion for excellent tires.) The handling of the car in extreme modes is at an altitude.

Tires Matador stella 2 with a speed index T (190 km / h) are offered for 1800 rubles. On these tires you will have to force yourself to drive without haste and with increased distance, since Stella has very modest braking properties (however, it is 1-3 meters better than the Bridgestone tire). And abrupt rearrangements should be excluded: in any situation, the steering wheel must be operated softly and smoothly. As compensation - fuel economy at any speed.

The tests were attended by: Anton ANANIEV, Vladimir KOLESOV, Yuri KUROCHKIN, Evgeny LARIN, Anton MISHIN, Andrey OBRAZUMOV, Valery PAVLOV and Dmitry TESTOV.

We would like to express our gratitude to the tire manufacturing companies that provided their products for testing, as well as to the employees of the AVTOVAZ test site and the Volgashintorg company in Togliatti for technical support..

Foreign cars in Russia

Five companies have their own production in Russia.

Michelin was the first to open a plant in Russia in 2004 (Davydovo, Moscow Region). Produces summer and Winter tires Michelin and BFGoodrich brands. Since 2011, he has been restoring Michelin truck tires.

The Nokian tire plant started operating in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad Region) in 2005. Produces Nokian and Nordman summer and winter tires for passenger cars and SUVs.

Pirelli acquired the Kirov Tire Plant at the end of 2011, and the Voronezh Tire Plant in 2012. After modernization, both factories produce tires under the Pirelli brand.

Yokohama launched its own plant in Lipetsk in 2012. Produces winter and summer passenger car tires Yokohama.

In 2013, Continental started production of Continental, Gislaved and Matador tires at its own plant in Kaluga.

Bridgestone in April 2013 officially announced plans to build a plant in the Ulyanovsk region.

Field players

Who is participating in our tests? First of all, tires from leading manufacturers. These are the so-called Top Five, the first five: Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental and Pirelli. Another important player is the Finnish company Nokian Tires: the capacity of its plant in St. Petersburg will soon reach 18 million tires a year. In total, these six strikers are selling to Russian market the lion's share of all.

On the second line there are mid-price tires: BFGoodrich, Sava, Gislaved, Matador, Formula, as well as tires from such fast-growing companies as Yokohama, Hankook, Toyo and other Asian manufacturers.

In defense - budget tires, including domestic ones, such as Cordiant. We also carefully study the tires of young Chinese companies: they do not make the weather on the field, but sometimes we take them into our tests - what if a brilliant newcomer appears and beats everyone?

Brake already

How do we measure stopping distance? The first step is to limit the braking lane to cones. For reliable results, it is important that all tires brake along the same trajectory. We brake six to eight times on the "technological" tires until the results begin to repeat (stabilize), thus clearing the braking lane.

The braking distance is measured using a special GPS-based Vbox measuring complex. The measurement accuracy is 1 cm.

On a dry road, we measure the stopping distance of a car at a speed of 100 km / h. This is the most modern technique. After all, "weaving" is the real speed of movement on a suburban highway. The car starts to measure at a speed of 103-105 km / h. The driver applies the clutch and hits the brake pedal at the same point (marked with cones) to avoid longitudinal displacement along the path.

The tester determines the speed of the car not by the arrow of the standard speedometer, but by the digital indicators on the monitor of the Vbox complex.

We measure the braking distance not until the car comes to a complete stop, but until the moment when the speed drops to 5 km / h. This avoids the variability in results associated with, often leading to long-term wheel blocking. The number of brakes for each set of tires is eight.

After each test, it is necessary to cool the brakes, so we go to the starting point braking the engine or coasting.

When processing the results, we throw out the pop-up values (with a deviation of more than 2%), and for the rest we calculate the arithmetic mean.

On a wet road, the procedure for preparing, measuring and processing the results is the same, but braking is from 80 km / h. We intensively water the lane both in the braking area and in front of it (8–10 meters) so that the tires have time to get wet.
