Leonid on the Gislaved Nord Frost 200 tire

Right off the bat. I did not choose the tires very carefully, I went to the site, looked, read, thought, ordered. I rolled the winter in the Far North. I think everyone understands our temperature conditions for the operation of this product. I drove at temperatures down to -30 (32) and This is with Wtbasto. Below, it's just a pity to rape the car. And at the moment, the snow is already melting, there were puddles and clean ice and clean asphalt at -20 (25).

So, when driving minus 20 and below on clean asphalt, the rubber showed itself at 3 +, at the same temperature but on asphalt with snow by 4 +, on rolled snow or with a crust on the asphalt perfectly. At temperatures from 0 to -15 at clean asphalt at 5, the same rating when it is snowy. In the spring it showed its negative sides, aquaplaning is very uncomfortable. If loose snow, if a little gasp, it will burrow (I think that all tires do this) In general, I am satisfied with rubber, think in the future I won’t, but I’ll take this one right away. Like, in short, everything. Not a nail or a rod at all. Thank you.

Alexander about the tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200

I bought this rubber because the family has been on RAV 4 for four seasons and pleases Nord Frost 100 (Germany). There were doubts whether to take on the mondeo Nord Frost 200, as it is produced in Russia (if I am not mistaken, in Voronezh).

The impressions are twofold. Perhaps because of the 16 radius, which is not enough for mondeo.

Wheels hold the road perfectly on a snowy winter track. Accelerated up to 140, excellent stability, no problems during rebuilding. Keep the road simple God forbid.

The fact that they behave perfectly on ice, I realized when I got out of the car onto the road and almost fell. I moved my foot, the whole road froze. But sitting behind the wheel, I didn't even feel it and rarely ever felt it at all. The thorns do their job perfectly. Probably the truth is a new technology and a special form of thorns are working.

Of the problem - bad water buoyancy, rutting and handling in wet snow. In the first two cases, it hits the steering wheel hard and tries to throw the car, in the second it sweeps its tail around corners and constantly triggers ESP during acceleration.

In terms of quality ... You know ... I will not take any more domestic-made rubber. On the rear wheels, 8 studs flew out, provided that the car has front-wheel drive and the studs rolled 400 km. I think the whole point is that the tail was often blown away when cornering ... apparently the spikes have poor lateral stability and they fly out.

Next winter I plan to take this rubber, but already on the 17th radius. It will be interesting to compare the sensations.

In general, I liked the tires! But nord frost 100 is definitely better :)

Pavel about the tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200 honest review

I will not say that I am an expert and understand all the nuances of handling and other characteristics of tires. This fall I bought a set winter tires Gislaved Nord Frost 200, new, replica continental, etc.

What can I say about these tires - the handling is good, on dry (set in the fall before frost) asphalt - like a car goes on the rails, I did not notice any drifts, on wet asphalt, which is mainly found in Moscow for most of the winter - also no complaints, it slows down just as confidently enough, although some say that the thorns on the wet asphalt - like a cow on the ice - did not notice this.

On completely off-road and virgin soil, they have not yet left, but on freshly fallen snow - they row, pull, earlier on old rubber (it was bald, of course, but still) I got out of such snowdrifts with which the tractor buried the car only with the help of a shovel))) Skid on on a snow-covered road - if you re-gas, then any tire will break into a skid, but nevertheless, at high speed, you should not go into turns on the snow on these tires. Braking performance on snow - not the best, Nokian probably slows down better, but also quite worthy after bald wheels. There was one accident - through my fault, I got distracted and pecked a BMW, but in front of the pedestrians who jumped out in the yard from behind the cars I had time to brake in advance. I did not ride on the ice, because strong ice have not met this winter.

Whether the thorns are flying out - I don't know, in the spring it will be visible, while it seems to be in place.

noisy - you can hear the thorns clinking when braking, they do not make much noise.

Would advise someone to buy them - for their own money - good rubber If there is money for a more expensive one, it is not worth saving on your own safety and the safety of others.

Mikhail about the tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200 honest review

I will single out the most unexpected (and therefore the most pleasant) quality of this rubber: very quiet! Highly!

Owners of VAG cars (at least Skoda) probably know that our cars are very picky about the hum / vibration transmitted from the roadway through the suspension elements. I bought NF200 after Hakka7, because Hakka (worn out) began to naturally harass with her hum. Now I go and bastard. Rubber in the size 205/55/16 (like the previous Hakka), but at the same time, minor irregularities and joints are much softer (also a very tangible advantage, taking into account the PPD on my Superb).

Of the shortcomings (again compared to Hakkoy7). Less confidently starts on packed snow. Demolition is a little more willing, especially at speeds above 60 km / h. But everything is within reason, predictable. Electronic assistants of the machine are quite "friendly" with this behavior of the machine.

Braking - on a solid "5", predictable, accurate, no matter what surface.

In general, it seemed that rubber loves it when it's colder outside. She becomes more tenacious.

The mileage is still small, 4 thousand km. Until the end of winter operation, I think, 6 thousand more will pass. Then I will check the wear and count the number of spikes that have flown out. Riding 70% - city, 30% - highway, region - Western Siberia.

Rubber is not without flaws, but none of them looks critical yet, and the price gives a reason not to look at these flaws very closely.

My conclusion: solid, predictable, very comfortable tires for a reasonable price.

Ivan about the tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200

Purchased the specified tires in the size 205/50/16
At the time of writing the review, the mileage was 9000 km.
The tires were run in according to all the rules, then I drove without regretting much.
The car is 1.8T all-wheel drive.
Overall, very good tires. Strong enough. I flew into a hole, bent a stamped disk, the tire survived this moment without consequences.
If we do not forget that these are winter studded tires and it is winter outside, then everything will be fine. In comparison with the Finnish Hakka 2, which stood before them, I did not feel a cardinal difference.
The only gripe with these tires is the lack of grip at near-zero temperatures on snow slush.
Everything else is fine.
During the operation, the tires have lost 1-2 spikes on each tire.

Sergey about the tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200 honest review

I bought it in October 2018, before that I went to Gislaved Nord Frost 100 for 5 years, they were satisfied with everything !!! but since there are no more of them I took 200, the first 5 thousand I missed 100) but now apparently I got used to it and the tires rolled in ... in general it keeps the road well, at 150-180 km.h it keeps the changes on the track just like 100kah, in my the look is perfect! there is nothing to compare, I drove on another winter tires 6 years ago, but if everything suits me, I see no reason to experiment, drift and drifts if possible with pleasure) well, and probably the Octavia DSG 1.8 itself 180 hp, dynamics, handling and stability on the road is very pleasant! at the moment the mileage is 140000 km, only the final ones !!! I don’t look at the presence of thorns, 10 more or less ... I don’t think and I don’t feel that this somehow affects the ride, in general I recommend, for this price, perfect tires!

Tires Gislaved Nord Frost 200

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 is a winter studded medium tire with an asymmetric tread pattern for passenger cars and crossovers.

Country of origin: Portugal.

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 test from Finnish Test World conducted in 2016

In 2016, experts from the Finnish organization Test World tested the winter studded tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200 in the size 205/55 R16 and compared it with budget, medium and premium tires.

In total, 21 tires took part in the test, among which there were similar studded models, friction tires Nordic type and one "European".

Test results

According to the results of the test, Gislaved Nord Frost 200 took seventh place in the overall standings.

The tire showed low level noise, short braking distances on wet asphalt and snow, and average results on dry surfaces. On the ice, the tire performed well overall, but its braking distance and handling were worse than similar studs.

Review of the experts who conducted the test:

Compared to the previous model, the number of studs for the Gislaved Nord Frost 200 has been increased to 130, in general it provides good grip on ice, but the braking distance could be shorter. On snow, the tire reacts sluggishly to steering, and this is especially evident at speed when making extreme maneuvers. On the other hand, the Gislaved did an excellent job on asphalt, and one can even say that it is better than other studs for asphalt. At the same time, it turned out to be a fairly quiet and economical tire.

Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 | Shina Guide Tire Review

Photo and description

Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 is an asymmetric winter tire designed for use in harsh winter conditions, which has excellent traction and grip characteristics. lateral stability on ice and packed snow, steering precision and stability, and optimized handling on asphalt.

The Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 tires, introduced in 2015, were created to tame the winter elements with all its weather surprises. When creating it, the developers of Continental (and as you know, the German company "crushed" the Swedish brand for itself in the early nineties of the last century) decided to go the proven way.

They awarded the 200th model with a tread pattern that closely resembles the design of the 2010 tire. Continental ContiIceContact, which was highly appreciated not only by Ukrainian and Russian testing organizations, but also by independent experts from the Nordic countries.

The asymmetrical tread pattern of the Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 significantly improves the tire's grip and handling characteristics on all surfaces. The center of the tread is made up of polygonal blocks that have different shapes, says a Shina.Guide technician. Such engineering solution led to a significant increase in cutting edges, providing reliable contact with icy and snowy surfaces.

The multi-directional working edges enhance the grip and stability of the NordFrost 200 both longitudinally and laterally.

The dense siping of the tread blocks with three-dimensional and wavy sipes enhances the interaction of the tire with ice and snow during starting and braking, as well as when making maneuvers at high speed.

A dense network of wide drainage grooves intersecting each other at different angles prevents snow from clogging the tire tread and facilitates efficient drainage of water and melted snow from the contact patch. As a result, the Gislaved Nord Frost 200 tires not only resist aquaplaning and slash planning well, but also behave confidently on snow slush and wet asphalt.

The optimal distribution of contact pressure between the tire and the ice ensures maximum grip, as well as efficient braking of the Nord * Frost 200 and a high level of comfort.

The special rubber compound of the tire maintains an ideal balance between tread stiffness and elasticity during temperature changes, and also guarantees high productivity Gislaved Nord Frost 200 on winter surfaces throughout the entire service life.

For more soft terms winter period Swedish tire manufacturers recommend using the Gislaved Soft * Frost 200 model.

Winter apocalypse: Continental tests winterContact SI, Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 and General Tire Grabber Arctic tires

When we buy a car, we usually sign up for a test drive of various models in order to eventually find the one that suits us best.

The same happens when we choose a TV or tablet, that is, we usually have the opportunity to test the performance of the desired object before buying.

In the case of tires, this rule is much more difficult to enforce. Almost none of the sellers will agree to install tires on the wheels of your car before you ask to offer tires of another model, and it is quite possible that more than once. That's why we buy tires sometimes at random. What if you're lucky and they will meet our requests and expectations as much as possible.

To help sellers seeking to improve their selling proposition, Continental holds an annual winter testing for their new products. The event compares the tires of the "empire" Continental with their direct competitors, notes the technician Shina.Guide. This year, the Continental Tire held its winter apocalypse in the town of Mirabell in the Canadian province of Quebec.

In 2015, three new models were presented: General Tire Grabber Arctic, Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 and Continental WinterContact SI, which we wrote about earlier. It would be illogical for a manufacturing company to create products that compete with each other, so each tire is focused on a specific part of the market.

The General Tire Grabber Arctic is specially designed for light commercial vehicles and large SUVs with a minimum installation dimension of 245/75 R16. Continental WinterContact SI tires will be available for mid-size SUVs and large cars with increased cross-country ability, while the Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 tires were designed for Vehicle middle and compact class.

In light of the experience gained during the test drive, the participants noted that all three new Gislaved, Continental and General Tire tires would be ideal companions for the rather harsh winter conditions, regardless of the car brand. The newer models allow for more confident maneuvering than comparable tires and exhibit shorter braking distances. Although we are talking about only 2-3 meters. The difference is certainly small, but in emergency she can change everything ...

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 - tires for the Scandinavian frost

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 is the successor to one of the most popular winter tires.

Despite the fact that the Swedish tire brand Gislaved can hardly be called popular in Russia, its products are in stable demand. In confirmation of this, the Swedes brought to the market a new product - the successor to one of their most successful winter tire models - Nord Frost 200.

In this article, you will learn:

Model overview

The model belongs to the type of winter studded rubber. It was shown to the public on September 3, 2016. They are presented on the market in dimensions from R13 to R19. The permissible tire width ranges from 155 to 255 millimeters, and the profile height ranges from 40 to 70.

The Swedish brand is part of the group of companies of the German concern Continental, positioned in the middle price category.

The design of the tires can be called cute, but nothing more - only original patterns on the sidewalls and on the shoulder sipes attract attention. But, looking at the tread, you can see its considerable depth and emphasis under snowy roads. Compared to the Nord Frost 100, the 200th model has undergone changes in the composition of rubber and studding.

The new rubber compound has become more pliable to the touch and at the same time sufficiently elastic, which should increase the efficiency of grip on the winter road, while the studs are made using Eco Tri-Star technology (the component supplier is the Finnish tire company Tikka) and integrated into the Nord Frost 200 in the amount of 130 pieces (the predecessor has only 100).

According to the manufacturer, these tires can now compete on an equal footing even with the tires of the first echelon brands. In particular, relative to the previous Nord Frost 100 series, grip and braking on the winter road improved in the range of 3 to 6 percent, and on asphalt - by 2 percent.

Strengths

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 are traditionally good on snowy roads. The tires exhibit clear and precise steering responses, excellent lateral grip, good traction and high braking performance.

On the ice, one can note a confident and smooth start from a standstill and a minimum of slippage when picking up speed. On wet pavement, braking performance is traditionally high, as well as directional stability on a straight line. Smoothness is acceptable even on pronounced unevenness.

disadvantages

There are small remarks regarding lateral grip on ice - drifts are sometimes unexpected and difficult to control. The permeability in deep snow is not bad, but you expect more from such an aggressive tread - with active overglowing, the tires are heavily buried.

On dry pavement, the steering wheel response is slow and the braking performance is not the best. As others weaknesses- strong hum and high rolling resistance, which is bad for fuel consumption.

What are users saying?

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 appeared on the market quite recently, so car enthusiasts treat these tires with caution, although they remember how efficient from the point of view of operation the Nord Frost 100 was. Those who bought these studded tires note the pleasant spike shape and softness of the rubber compound as well as an acceptable cost.

Gislaved is a Swedish tire brand. Founded back in 1893 in the town of the same name Gislaved. It was most fully realized in the automotive field starting only in 1927, and before that time the plant was producing tires for bicycles.

By the 1960s, Gislaved reached the peak of its popularity in Western Europe and produces about one million tires a year. At the same time, the company now produces about three million tires. Gislaved specializes mainly in winter tires.

In 1983 the company became Gislaved Dack AB. A little later, in 1987, this division merged with another tire brand - Viking Deck A / S Tires, and together they form Nivis Tire AB.

However, the union was not destined to last long and already in 1992 this production association became the property of Continental AG. From that moment to our time, it is Continental that produces Gislaved tires, while tires are manufactured in different countries, and the last tire from Sweden left the assembly line back in 2002.

winter studded tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200

Continental premiere: Gislaved Nord Frost 200 studded winter tire

Gislaved Nord Frost 200 delivers superior grip on ice Excellent handling on all surfaces and improved tire durability thanks to optimized tread stiffness New high-tech Eco Tri-Star stud in larger quantities for increased safety and improved ice grip Innovative rubber compound

Continental presents the new Gislaved Nord Frost 200 studded tire from a subsidiary brand that specializes in uncompromising models for harsh winter conditions (http://licsp.ru/specialization/gynecology/).

The evolution of the tread pattern

The three previous generations of the Nord Frost model, which were very popular on Russian market, used a symmetrical V-shaped tread. New tire Gislaved Nord Frost 200 is equipped with an asymmetric directional tread pattern - this solution has proven its effectiveness in premium models of the concern and is now presented in the middle price segment.

The outer part of the tread is mainly responsible for handling and directional stability, as well as providing stability when cornering. The inner section works for grip on all sections of the winter road and resistance to aquaplaning. Both parts are equipped with developed shoulder blocks with sharp edges, which increase the passability in deep snow and rut.

The directional tread design forms a "half-arrow" pattern in the center of the tread for improved drainage of water and slush from the contact patch.

An increased number of multidirectional blocks with multiple sipes form multiple engaging edges. All lamellas have walls with interpenetrating elements, which ensures the rigidity of the blocks in motion. Serrated sipes dominate on the outer side of the tread, and stepped micro-grooves on the inner side. Together, the combination of blocks and sipes guarantees reliable grip in any steering position.

On all types of winter roads, the new tread provides precise handling and stable directional stability, as well as confident cornering.

Eco Tri-Star Spike

Continental has extensive experience in using complex studs to optimize grip under any load vector. The Gislaved Nord Frost 200 tire is equipped with a new innovative Eco Tri-Star stud, manufactured by Tikka, Finland Spikes OY, a subsidiary of the Continental concern.

The cleat is equipped with a carbide directional tip, which is shaped like a truncated three-pointed star and has many sharp engaging edges and edges, as well as a faceted tip. This design provides increased traction for any distribution of forces during acceleration, braking, cornering, the risk of skidding or drifting.

The double-flange design of the stud body provides a secure and durable fit in the tread, and the low weight (less than 1.0 g) reduces the load on the road surface. This made it possible to equip the Gislaved Nord Frost 200 with significantly more studs than in the previous model, increasing traction and braking performance on ice by 6%, while reducing road wear.

Around the stud seat in the tread, special "pockets" are provided, which absorb and immediately remove ice crumbs, continuously cleaning the working edges of the stud even under increased load, for example, during intensive braking.

Innovative rubber compound

The Gislaved Nord Frost 200 tire is designed for use in a wide temperature range, including in the most severe frosts. Therefore, the tread contains a high-tech rubber compound with a high content of silica and proprietary polymers. This allows it to remain elastic at low temperatures and stiffness along with resistance to abrasion during thaw.

The Gislaved Nord Frost 200 is a winter studded medium tire. The rubber has an asymmetrical tread pattern.

It is designed for crossovers and light vehicles. Owner reviews and numerous tests indicate the good quality of the tires and their excellent performance.

Manufacturer overview

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

Gislaved has been making tires since 1905. In early 2008, it became part of the Continental concern. For such a long period of rubber production, the company managed to gain the trust of car owners and firmly occupy its niche in the world market.

Gislaved designs tires independently in its own R&D department. This allows innovation to be introduced into each new model... Therefore, Gislaved rubber stands out for the use of advanced technologies, bypassing most of the competitors.

All Gislaved factories have rigorous, multi-level quality control. Thanks to this, it is possible to almost completely exclude the defect from entering the retail sale.

Winter tire quality and features

The special shape of the tread facilitates the rapid removal of water and snow slurry from the contact patch. Gislaved Nord Frost 200 has an asymmetrical pattern that allows you to maintain stable grip regardless of the type of road surface.

To improve handling, 3D stepped sipes are used on the inside of the tread. Outside there are sinusoidal lamellas. This combination contributes to good grip on asphalt, snow and ice.

There are special grooves around the pins. They help drain water and slush. As a result, the spike has the ability to more firmly hook onto the road surface. The owners' comments note that these grooves are erased after a run of 10-25 thousand km.

The manufacturer has increased the number of studs to 130. They are located mainly in the shoulder area. The spikes are made of aluminum alloy, so their weight does not exceed 1 g.

Studs on Nord Frost 200 are located in the shoulder blocks. They are recessed into the tread to reduce noise levels. This allows you to ride comfortably on dry asphalt, even at high speeds. This innovation also has a negative side.

The spikes are located along several lines. When driving on snow, a bump is encountered under the center of the tread while slipping. The tire rises above the road. Small spikes no longer reach the road surface. As a result, the car loses its ability to move.

Despite the softness of the alloy used in the manufacture of studs, they are very wear-resistant. The owners note that Nord Frost 200 winter tires can last for several seasons without losing a single stud.

During the development of the Nord Frost 200 tires, special attention was paid to the rubber compound. It contains silicon and high-strength polymers. This made it possible to minimize the dependence of tires on ambient temperature and increase their wear resistance.

According to the reviews of car owners, the Nord Frost 200 tires perfectly resist damage. The wheels have increased strength of the sidewalls and the shoulder of the tread. As a result, driving on bumpy roads or ruts rarely damages the tires.

Dimensions

The Nord Frost 200 tires are designed for passenger cars and crossovers. The company has a wide assortment of Nord Frost 200, which allows to cover almost any wishes of car owners. All Gislaved sizes can be found in the table below.

Table - Overview of tire sizes

The Nord Frost 200 tests have been repeatedly carried out by independent experts. According to their results, the tires confidently occupy the middle positions. Below are the diagrams by which you can evaluate performance characteristics winter tires Nord Frost 200.

Advantages and disadvantages

Tires Nord Frost 200 have a number of advantages, but not without disadvantages. The table below presents a selection of the main disadvantages and advantages of rubber according to reviews from car owners and expert opinions.

Table - Pros and cons of tires Gislaved Nord Frost 200ъ

Feasibility of acquisition

The shape, size and arrangement of the studs allow the vehicle to travel at high speed on hard road surfaces. The disadvantage of this technical solution is the risk of slipping on snow and ice. Therefore, tires should not be purchased when operating a car in places with a large snow cover and in the presence of ice. If the car will drive mainly on cleaned city roads, then the expediency of purchasing Nord Frost 200 is very high.

Over the past winter, I have developed the skill of flawlessly getting the car out of a skid. To be honest, it is absolutely not worth the spent nerves and scratches on the case. So in the fall I very meticulously chose the tires of my dreams to replace the pieces of rubber that had lost all contact with reality. The Gislaved Nord * Frost 200, produced by a subsidiary of Continental, may not seem like the most obvious option to some. Swedish brand, German concern, Russian production. They appeared on the market only this year and did not manage to gain a large number of fans. Nevertheless, reviews on the Web were present and made it possible to conclude that for its reasonable price it would be great option for the Russian winter.

First of all, their relationship with the ContiIceContact tires, the undisputed hit of the 2010 Continental, hinted at this fact. Unlike its symmetrical predecessors, the Nord * Frost, the 200th model borrows from the ContiIceContact a complex asymmetrical pattern with an increased number of cutting edges, significantly increasing the machine's confidence on ice and snow of varying degrees of compaction. A cunning network of drainage grooves and dense sipes promised to reliably maintain grip on wet asphalt and in a slush of snow. In addition, due to the composition of rubber with a high content of silica and branded polymers, they are well tolerated by sudden temperature changes and severe frosts. Plus they are equipped with innovative Eco-Tri Star spikes in the shape of a truncated three-pointed star: each weighing less than a gram, but showing tenacity at the right time.

As a conscientious driver, I changed my shoes in advance and managed to drive half a thousand kilometers before more or less constant snow fell. On the asphalt Nord * Frost 200, first of all, we were pleased with the low noise level. And with the rolled kilometers it only became quieter. In the rain, the tires held the road securely, and I didn't have a chance to do an extreme sport - aquaplaning. The number of lost thorns is zero.

Finally, the snow covered the Samara roads, and the real tests began. My Škoda has become noticeably better obeying when cornering in any direction. Being ahead on the winter track has ceased to be a risky luxury, for once becoming a common maneuver. On the icy road, the braking distance was noticeably reduced, thanks to which I was able to afford to move around the city faster. In a rut - as in a rut, the steering wheel has to be held tighter. But the tricky tread pattern was clearly borrowed by the “Gislavedians” for a reason - the tires were confidently clearing the snow porridge. I usually do not climb into the snowdrifts in my car, but I continue to get out of the freshly filled parking lot every day without any problems.

However, I must warn you that in difficult circumstances, ideal behavior from the Nord * Frost 200 is still not to be expected. Even though they have significantly more studs than the predecessor model, each stud surrounds a “pocket” to effectively eliminate ice chips, and as a result, traction and braking performance is improved by six percent. But this, alas, is not enough when you are driving on ice covered with snow. Here you have to act carefully and smoothly. Do I agree to put up with it? Undoubtedly. Because tires that are guaranteed to perform better under the same conditions will cost twice as much. And also, no matter how you scold the Samara roads and city services, the neglected areas I have named are mainly found in separate courtyards. Maneuvering them on the Fabia with its dimensions was quite graceful. Maybe on big cars it would be more difficult.

I can't talk about the high abrasion resistance announced by Gislaved, but the spikes are still in place and nothing bodes well for quick wear. A couple of times in the reviews I met a comparison with Velcro, but this comparison seems to me correct only if we are talking about a low noise level. Gislaved Nord * Frost 200 proved to be good-quality winter tires, in terms of their qualities close to the samples of premium price segment and undeniably worth the money spent.

A year ago, I bought myself a studded car for my car winter tires(nevertheless, I think -), size 235/45 R18 by GISLAVED, model Nord Frost 200. And then it began in the comments - “why did you buy them, but their spikes are flying out, and the rubber is g # clear, etc. " YES, I agree, the reputation of rubber in Russia is ambiguous, some say that it is durable and not noisy - super tires. Others write that this is a quiet horror, the thorns fly out in the first year and then do not hold the "ice". But how are things really? Personally, I have prepared my own review for you as the owner of this rubber, there will also be an interesting video review, where we will shoot three models (200, 100 and 5) of this manufacturer at once. So we read and watch ...

I have no task - to praise or "find fault" this manufacturer. Therefore, in the beginning, I decided to ride the NORD FROST 200 for a season, look at their behavior on the road (in different conditions), look at the spikes, and after that (it turns out in the second year), leave my feedback. However, let's start from the moment of purchase.

How did you come to the purchase?

In principle, everything is simple. I want to start my review with this - I have a 2017 KIA OPTIMA, a special version of the car dedicated to FIFA 2017. It differs from the usual version by a large number of "goodies", well, and other wheels that come in maximum trim levels. Dimension 235/45 R18. To be honest, I had no idea that this size is quite a rarity for winter tires! They are designed (as it seems to me) mainly for Europe, because they are mainly produced by various manufacturers with Velcro.

No, of course I found studded tires of this size. They were mainly NOKIAN, MICHELIN, CONTINENTAL, etc. That is, manufacturers of the "first echelon", and the price tag for their tires started from 15 and reached 18 thousand rubles.

Just go crazy! 4 tires 15 each, that's at least 60! And if 18 = 72,000 rubles.

In general, I began to look for cheaper, I agreed with our Russian manufacturers. BUT, unfortunately, none of them produced such studded tires! Here is R17 235/45 in bulk, for reasonable money, but R18 simply does not exist (I even thought to buy wheels with tires, with a diameter lower). The cheapest option was to take a Chinese one, with my size, for about 5-6 thousand (but I have no confidence in it, and again, "linden").

For a long time I studied the Internet, and then I came across GISLAVED NORD FROST 200 rubber, spikes, my size, PRODUCTION IN GERMANY, and the price tag was more or less, about 9500 for a "balloon" (including delivery) ... Straight some kind of fairy tale.

I ordered it via the Internet (from Moscow), now I will not fire the store, because they did not consider it an advertisement. After 5 days was with me.

Why exactlyGISLAVED?

Well, as you understand, the first item was exactly the price. Yet less than 40,000 per set is much better than 60 or 72,000!

Second, my brother on his FORD FOCUS 2 has been using the rubber of this manufacturer for about 8 years and is ALMOST satisfied (why almost, about this a little below).

The most important thing that my brother said was that the tires were practically silent (in terms of acoustic comfort - like summer tires). All this is a special form of a spike, and there are not so many of them on the wheel, about two times less than that of other manufacturers (about 90 - 100 pieces). There is no hum as from other manufacturers, in particular NIOKIAN. And indeed it is!

YES and the production of Germany won over. By the way, GISLAVED is also produced here, but you can see not such standard sizes.

That is why I bought it, and you know a year later, I don’t regret it at all! BUT there is always a fly in the ointment.

So differentNORDFROST 200, 100 and 5

BUT, as I wrote at the beginning of my review, many began to write to me - that this rubber, to put it mildly, is not worthy of attention! That you shouldn't take it at all! Goes bald almost in a month. So what's the deal?

And here's what ... Rubber has earned a bad reputation GISLAVED NORD FROST 100 , which was produced in Russia and there really were problems with it.

From my own experience, my brother experienced this, he has a "100" and after one winter season almost all the thorns flew out (about 80-90%), then the rest fell out in the second year.

Now is the third season and he doesn't know what to do, change tires or put on? After all, on ice it is practically useless (fortunately, our roads are flooded with reagents) and they are rarely covered with ice.

BUT THE FACT REMAINS A FACT - NORD FROST 100, I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO TAKE!

Of course, the tires are not noisy, they dig snow well, but the spikes fly out (and by the end of the first season). And this is not an isolated case, I have at least three friends who remained "toothless" on this GISLAVED in the first - second season.

Why is this happening? Some write that the rubber is too soft and does not hold the spikes well, others say that the steel element itself is small and simply not capable of holding normally, others complain about Russian production... But nobody knows for sure!

GISLAVED NORD FROST 5. BUT there is another side of this manufacturer, initially on his FORD (back in 2011), my brother took NORD FROST 5, made in Germany, and for almost 8 years about him only positive emotions and decent mileage (only winter about 80,000 km). The front tires were very worn out, the cord got out of them, and they just had to be replaced with NORD FROST 100 (which saddened me).

But the rear ones are still standing. Of course, the tread is already about 5 mm and for good reason they should also be replaced, and there are few spikes left. However, about the old GISLAVED (it is no longer for sale) - only positive emotions! BUT damn it, why did they screw up so much with 100?

NORDFROST 200. What about her?

As I wrote at the top of the review, I rode the season and wanted to realize from my own experience - how does 200 behave? I have only four main evaluation parameters:

  • Thorns. How to hold, acoustic comfort
  • Ice grip
  • Snow passability
  • Snow porridge and thaw

SPINKLED ELEMENTS ... My mileage was about 10,000 km last season, this season is already about 2,000 km, that is, a total of 12,000 km. As my brother told me that at 5000 km he had about half of the spikes (on his 100-ke). My "two hundredth" has not lost more than one thorn! Everyone is kept clear and does not think to fall out. ACOUSTIC COMFORT - everything is also good here, GISLAVED does not have so many studded elements (I wrote about this above), and they are made in the form of a triangular star, apparently because of this you go like in the summer, no hum after HAKKAPELIPA is just a huge difference. 5 out of 5 points

CLUTCH ON ICE ... Despite the fact that there are fewer elements, grip on ice does not cause any global problems, it climbs confidently into the rolled slides. No drift was noticed on icy bends, I personally like it.

In general, I think that NORD FROST 200 is something between Velcro and spikes. Indeed, there are not so many steel teeth.

PASSAGE ON SNOW ... This is the merit of the protector. Personally, I never got up at OPTIME during the whole winter, although the snow sometimes fell heavily, and the utilities did not have time to clean up. BUT, I deliberately did not climb into unnecessary snowdrifts, nevertheless I have a heavy sedan, if you sit down, it is difficult to pull it out (). In the urban cycle I give five points.
