A car over 20 years old has a hidden problem that can negatively affect performance. fuel system and engine. This is the internal state of the fuel tank, sudden changes in ambient temperature, low-quality fuel, mechanical damage, all this leads to clogging of the tank and the entire fuel system.

Toyota Prado with 1KZ-TE engine has one tank with a total capacity of 90 liters with an emergency reserve of 15 liters (only 75 liters are used).

Removing protection

In order to get to the fuel tank, you must first remove its protection.

The protection is fastened with four bolts for a 12-turn key. Before unscrewing the bolts, it is necessary to treat them with VD-40 liquid. It often happens that the edges of the bolts break off, in which case it is necessary to carefully drill them out and cut a new thread instead of the old one.

I did not have one bolt unscrewed, which I tried to unscrew by welding, welding a nut onto a torn bolt, but all my attempts were in vain, only half a day was spent. As a result, I had to cut off the bolt head with a grinder, drill a hole in the bolt and cut the thread by 8, since I did not find a tap for its standard thread.

After removing the protection, it is advisable to wash and paint it both inside and outside.

Removing the tank

Before removing the tank, it is necessary to disconnect three pipes from the engine side (fuel supply, return flow, tank ventilation) and two from the filler neck.

Disconnect the wiring plug attached to the frame on the side of the left rear headlight and drain the remaining fuel in the tank through the drain hole (head 17).

The tank itself is attached to the body with two clamps; to remove it, it is enough to unscrew the fasteners of the clamps on one side, it is better to do this from the back.

It is important if, according to the fuel sensor readings, you have 10 liters left, then be ready to drain all 25, since the free supply of fuel reaching the intake filter and the fuel quantity sensor float is 15 liters.

Dismantling the tank

It is necessary to disconnect all the wire chips and unscrew all the bolts using a Phillips screwdriver and an 8-point head (do not forget to use VD-40).

We take out all the "offal" and look at their condition.

Tank cleaning

During the inspection of the tank, areas of corrosion were found in the intake tub and foreign particles at the bottom. For cleaning, I used a körcher, with which, under high pressure all the dirt was washed away. After that, the tank was completely filled with water and left for one hour with a constant supply of water from the tap.

After draining the water, the tank was put for 2 hours in the sun to evaporate its residues, and at this time all pipes were cleaned, the internal filter was replaced, the tank ventilation air valve was cleaned of rust, which was completely clogged with rust, and its branch pipe did not let air through.

Tank assembly

We install all the giblets in place, having previously lubricated the rubber gaskets with a sealant.

When tightening the bolts, a slight torque is required not exceeding 3 Nm.

The fuel intake pipe filter was replaced with a new one (original number 7702326010 - 385 rubles), since the old one was very dirty, but I think that the old filter can be reused if it is cleaned with cleaning agents and blowing with compressed air.

We install the tank in place, first, with the help of molar tape, close the openings of the pipes in order to exclude the ingress of dirt from the frame, body, etc. First, we attach the pipes filler neck and ventilation, then we fix the tank with clamps.

Remove the fuel tank ventilation tip, which is installed on the frame near the fuel line pipes. We clean, rinse and blow with compressed air, and then put in place.

We connect the three front pipes and install the tank protection.

Removing the airiness of the system

After installing the tank, fill it with fuel (more than 15 liters) and, using the button on the engine compartment fuel filter, pump the fuel up to the filter. If he himself changes fuel filter, it is necessary to fill it with fuel.

If you cannot pump fuel with the button, we use the old old-fashioned method and suck it by disconnecting the pipe from the filter.

We start the engine and let it run for 10 minutes.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - SUV made in Japan, produced since 1990. The first generation model is presented in three and five-door bodies. The top version was designed for eight passengers. This model was considered an affordable alternative to the more flagship Prado 70 model. injection motors 2.4 and 2.7 liters, as well as diesels with a volume of 2.8, 2.4 and 3.0 liters.

In 1996, sales of the second generation Toyota Land Cruiser. Structurally, the car is no longer considered a copy of the older Land Cruiser model, and at the same time, it received a more expressive design. The line has retained three- and five-door versions, as well as frame structure... The front suspension has become independent (instead of a non-split bridge).

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV

The engine range includes the previous 2.7-liter engine (150 hp), as well as a modern 3.4-liter engine (175-185 hp). In addition, diesel versions of 2.8 and 3.0 liters were also available.

In 1999, a restyling took place, and a year later a modification with a turbocharged diesel engine of 140 hp appeared. with.

The third generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was introduced in 2002. The car has grown noticeably larger and acquired a more stylish design compared to its utilitarian predecessor. Three- and five-door versions were still available. In Russia, there are only five-door cars.

The range of engines has not changed much - gasoline engines 2.7 and 3.4 liters (150 and 185 liters. From. Respectively), as well as a three-liter turbodiesel. A 95-horsepower diesel version was also available.

In 2004, an update was released, as a result of which a 2.7-liter internal combustion engine (163 hp) appeared in the engine range, as well as a 4.0 liter V6 with a capacity of 249 "horses". The old 3.0 liter turbodiesel gave way to a more powerful engine with 170 horsepower.

The debut of the fourth generation Toyota Prado took place in Frankfurt am Main in 2009. And in the middle of 2012, the car successfully passed a test drive and was highly appreciated by its fans. The assembly of the Prado was immediately started in Russia. The Vladivostok plant "Sollers-Bussan" by the fall of 2013 mastered its capacity to the full. And already in November 2013, Russian dealers of Toyota presented a mid-size SUV Land Cruiser Prado 150. The start of sales began at a price of 1,700,000 rubles, which depends on the configuration and type of engine. The slightly updated car successfully passed the test drive and was closely examined from different angles.

The first generation of Land Cruiser Prado was released back in 87 of the last century. Since that time, Prado has gradually become an indispensable friend for fans of chic drive. "Pradik", as his admirers christened him, had many glorious pages in its history. I would like to draw attention to the impressive dimensions, power of forms and aggressive appearance. Some trim levels also feature modern dynamics with sporty touches. In total, the Prado now has 8 types of configurations: Prestige, Suite (7 seats), Luxury (5 seats), Sport (5-seat), Sport (7 seats) Comfort and Standard.

Exterior

Ruggedly tested over the years, the 2014 Prado has a sleeker look, along with technical improvements; angular shapes have been replaced by more streamlined, aerodynamic exterior details. 17-inch alloy wheels give Toyota Prado more elegance and some ease of movement. More clearly the test drive is presented in the video below.

The body length of the Land Cruiser Prado is 150 - 4780 mm, the wheelbase of the car is 2790 mm. The width of the body body is 1885 mm (this is excluding the rear-view mirrors). The height varies in the range of 1840 - 1890 mm and depends on the configuration. Ground clearance is 222 mm. The inner track width is 1583 mm. Taking into account the impressive dimensions, the minimum turning radius of the car is pleasantly surprising: it does not exceed 5.6 meters along the outer wheel. The total curb weight of an SUV, depending on the components of the configuration, can be from 2100 to 2550 kg.

In front of new SUV Landcruiser Prado 150 received original new headlights from Toyota designers. Lighting technology with stylish LED waterfalls day lights the updated Prado is harmoniously combined with a massive radiator grille. The chrome-trimmed vertical baffles and solid top and sides frame give the radiator grill a respectable and beautiful look. Large fog lights further accentuate the powerful front bumper.

The rear part of the body of the new Landcruiser Prado 150 has significant differences from the stern of the pre-styling Prado. The plafonds of the side lights have been changed, the door surface is decorated in a slightly different way luggage compartment, which is framed by a wide chrome strip, it appeared after the rework.

Interior

The two options for the layout of the Land Cruiser Prado differ in five or seven passenger seats. They are quite comfortable and have a decent level of comfort with quality materials.

Stylish, with modern display and control elements, the center instrument panel adds a sense of volume. On-board computer with a color display and intuitive characteristics allows even the least experienced drivers to effectively test vehicle components.

The center console is highlighted by the clear touchscreen of the multimedia electronics system. At the same time, it contains indicators of the state of some vehicle control systems.

The transmission control buttons and the selector are in an unusual, but rather convenient place on the lower part of the console, in front of the gearbox control. Instrument indicators are now more informative.

In other details, the interior remained the same as in the previous Prado, of course, if you do not pay attention to better and more modern materials used in the decoration. Comfortable and very comfortable chairs, a decent supply of free space, where people with the largest build can easily accommodate.

Immediately it should be reported that the changed appearance and interior design of the new Prado 150 2014 is cosmetic, and the electronic filling of a technically full-fledged SUV is only slightly modernized by Japanese manufacturers. And is it necessary to change the already perfect technique that has successfully passed a full drive?

The trunk of this SUV deserves special attention. In the basic configuration, its capacity is 625 cubic meters. cm for cargo. By folding the rear seats down, the luggage space can be increased to 2,000 cubic meters. see In the seven-seater versions of the Prado, the capacity characteristics of the trunk are reduced to 104 liters.

Specifications

As mentioned at the beginning of the review, Toyota Landcruiser Prado 150 is presented in three versions. power plants, of which two are gasoline. The base engine is the reliable 4-cylinder 2TR FE petrol engine. Its displacement is 2,695 cm3 (2.7 l), which, according to tests, is quite enough for off-road conditions.

Basic motor complete set:

♦ 16-valve DOHC chain drive.

♦ Electronic variable valve timing system of the VVT-i type, which is capable of developing power up to 165 hp. (122 kW) at a maximum speed of 5200 per minute. The peak torque is reached already at 3700 rpm and falls at around 246 Nm.

♦ Check point -5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.

2.7-liter power unit with manual transmission according to the test characteristics, it consumes about 12.3 liters of AI-95 gasoline in the urban cycle. In aggregation with the "automatic" gasoline consumption is 12.7 liters. The manufacturer does not advertise the dynamics of acceleration to "hundreds", but during a test drive it can be 18 seconds up to the maximum speed of the car at 167 km / h.

4.0 liter flagship motor for Land Cruiser Prado 150 looks much more impressive. This is a 1GRFE V-6. It uses a 24-valve DONS type gas distribution chain with electronic system phase change Dual WT-i. The maximum power is 285 liters. with. the engine develops at 5400 rpm. Moreover, the upper limit of the torque of 387 Nm is reached already at 4350 rpm.

The checkpoint for the flagship is provided only in the form of a 5-speed "automatic". In this ratio, the starting spurt to "hundred" occurs in 9.1 seconds. The test results fully comply with the required Euro-V standards, while the engine demonstrates excellent indicators of environmental friendliness and economy. Average fuel consumption (gasoline) according to the test drive in the urban cycle is within 11.5 liters.

Diesel power unit 1KD FTV brand occupies an intermediate position in its characteristics between the above gasoline engines... The four in-line cylinders have a working volume of 2982 cm3 (3 liters) and are capable of developing a power of about 170 liters. with. (125 kW), which according to the test is already achieved at 3400 rpm. At the same time, the peak torque is set at around 410 Nm and is kept in the range of 1650-2800 rpm. The diesel is equipped with a 16-valve DOHC type mechanism with a chain drive, an intercooler and a system Common rail, carrying out direct fuel injection.

The diesel engine is equipped with only a 5-speed "automatic", with which the acceleration to the mark of 100 km is achieved in 11.7 seconds. Maximum speed Land Cruiser Prado 150 Diesel is 178 km / h. Fuel consumption in the city is about 8.5 liters.

In all of the above trim levels, the Prado has common system permanent all-wheel drive, which is complemented by a Torsen limited slip differential. Common to all modifications are: traction control system TRC and VSC stability control system, chassis spar frame with spring-link independent front suspension and dependent rear. We only note that the luxury equipment offers a replacement rear suspension to pneumatic adaptive AVS. It is represented by three operating modes: Normal, Comfort and for professional drive - the Sport system.

Ventilated disc brakes fitted in all trim levels on the rear and front axles. Brakes are equipped with ABS systems, BAS and EBD, the test drive showed their sufficient efficiency.

Rack and pinion steering mechanism

The rack and pinion steering mechanism is complemented by an amplifier, which is very typical for SUVs. Ratio the rack and pinion is 18.4, which determines 3 turns of the steering wheel between the extreme positions.

Production of the four-wheel drive Toyota SUV with a supporting frame began in 1987. In 2009, the 4th generation of the Land Cruiser was presented to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show Prado numbered 150, which, like its predecessor, is made in 3 and 5-door versions. The modern version of the car has a reinforced frame and differential locks.

In the 3rd generation, this SUV was equipped with gasoline engines with a volume of 2.7 and 4.0 liters and diesel engine 3.0 liters. Maximum speed - 163-175 km / h, average consumption of gasoline - 13.5-14.0 liters, diesel - 10.8 liters.

Real fuel consumption

  • Stanislav, Sevastopol. I bought a brand new Prado in 2008, 249 hp, automatic transmission, 4.0 liter engine. After running 85 thousand, I can say that the main disadvantage of an SUV in its huge expense- up to 22 liters gasoline in the city with Conder. But on the highway at a speed of 120 km / h, the declared 11 liters are consumed.
  • Artem, Moscow. I wanted to buy an SUV with a healthy appetite. The choice fell on a diesel Land Cruiser 120. Build in 2004, engine 3.0d, mechanics. The car is just a tank on wheels - the pits are not even felt, roomy, heavy. Up to 13 liters of diesel is burned in the city, and no more than 10 liters on the highway. How many liters The cheap MOT also pleases, although I have only changed rubber and oil for the entire time.
  • Danila, Taganrog. The 3rd generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a beast. I took the assembly of 2008 with a 2.7-liter engine on the mechanics, I still can't get enough of it. Over the past 3 years, only the gasoline filter and oil had to be changed. As for the engine's appetite, about 9 liters are burned on the highway, in the city it is almost 2 times more.
  • Anton, Chelyabinsk. I had a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 120 from 2005 to 2008. I liked its exquisite design, ergonomics, the ratio of power and economy of the 4.0 engine. Consumption in summer 16 liters, in winter 19-21 liters. Outside the city, 12-13 liters fit calmly. Of the minuses, I remember an incomprehensible autobuck and antizanos - it was very difficult to get used to it.
  • Alexander, Khabarovsk. Took a used one Cruiser Prado 2006 in the 120th body. The car has never failed. The main thing is to fill the 3-liter engine with a high-quality diesel engine. For 6 years of operation, almost not a single serious problem, only in small things - wear of the stabilizer bushings, the suparts turn sour. Average diesel consumption is 11 liters.
  • Murat, Tambov. In 2008, my wife and I took a newcomer from the salon. An off-road vehicle with a 2.7 liter engine with an automatic transmission. I like everything except the expense, but they knew nothing to be done about what they were buying. After running in, it turns out up to 11 liters on the highway and in the region of 18 liters in the urban cycle. Too many, but pluses bigger car well stuffed with various gadgets.
  • Victor, Omsk. Land Cruiser Prado 120 4.0 liters, year of manufacture 2004. For our roads this is the most the best option: cross-country ability, reliability, cheap components and adequate consumption (10 liters on the highway and 15 in the city, in the winter on top + 2 liters). The car has almost no shortcomings, except for the inconvenient heating and mirror control buttons, as well as the lack of support for a USB flash drive.
  • Peter, Belgorod. Parents presented a brand new 120th Prado for his birthday in 2004 with a 2.7 engine and automatic transmission. Mileage is now 183 thousand and the car still drives like new. With such an engine under the hood, Russian roads are not at all terrible. But it has a price. high consumption gasoline. All 20 liters are spent in the city, about 15 liters on the highway.
  • Eugene, St. Petersburg. I got as a gift a diesel version of 2005 with an automatic transmission. Japanese quality speaks for itself - the 120th Prado Cruiser is simply unkillable. Well, if this is done and succeeded, then spare parts are always in stock and always cheap. Everything suits the diesel engine - 13 liters for such a monster is not an expense.
  • Nikolay, Kostroma. Drove with his father Land Cruiser Prado 120, assembled for the countries of the Persian Gulf. The 2.7 engine with mechanics perfectly pulls a huge SUV where other cars simply cannot pass. The car was produced in 2009, comfortable and ergonomic. But it only eats as much fuel as the 4-liter version up to 14-15 liters in the combined cycle.
  • Andrey, Moscow. Land Cruiser Prado 4.0 AT, 2007 onwards I bought 120 thousand kilometers with mileage. This is my fifth car and the best I've ever had - a reliable SUV for all roads and all weather conditions. In terms of consumption, about 19 liters of gasoline are burned in the city, and about 14 liters on the highway - for such dimensions and power, this is quite normal.
  • Ilya, Magnitogorsk. Until the 120th Land Cruiser, my wife and I drove an old 90th model. What's wrong with this one, no problem. Diesel engine 3.0 pulls well, the ride is smooth, the dynamics are 5 plus. For me, there are no shortcomings, but even with such a car size, the engine could eat less than 13.5 liters in the city.
