So 5 years have passed. Mileage 45000 km. I did not go to TO-4, I changed the oil in the engine, oil and air filters... Doesn't eat oil.

What has been done: change the front wipers. Replacing burned out front dipped beam lamps at 32,000 km. At one time, there was some kind of metallic clicking sound in the area of ​​the engine when the selector was switched to the "drive" mode. The official service did not say anything intelligible about this, the Internet is also silent. Scored. There was a crunching sound in the grenades when turning the steering wheel. Scored on him. It passed by itself. In winter, there was a creak when turning the steering wheel. The Internet writes that this is some kind of rubber band on the steering shaft. At positive temperatures, the creak disappears. Scored. One mudguard flew off under the bottom (like the wings), the other just took off for symmetry :) Several times the fasteners that hold the foil protection between exhaust pipe and the bottom. The battery has died, replaced with a new one. Moreover, his death at first raised doubts. Happened at the most inopportune moment.

When arriving from Astrakhan to St. Petersburg, somewhere near Tver, on the highway, at night, from Saturday to Sunday, the car did not start. Everything works, turn signals, lighting, but the car won't start. The starter will crack and that's it. Frankly, I experienced unpleasant sensations. Rather reflexively than instinctively, he dropped the terminals from the battery and went to bed. After 3 hours I tried to start it again. And, lo and behold, the car reluctantly, but started up! Until Peter turned off the engine. Ironically, this happened literally a couple of kilometers from the Tverskoy Nissan salon. Upon arrival, I took the battery from another car. Thus, it became clear that it was in him.

So, two days later, the 4th winter (calendar) operation of this Kashkai, bought new in 2011, ends.

Since this is my weekend car, and now it is parked in the parking lot, and until March 1 I will hardly go anywhere in it, then we can definitely sum up some results.

During all this time, there were no breakdowns on the car. Well, do not consider the replacement of consumables for MOT as breakdowns, and one burned-out light bulb in the headlight (bought and replaced it myself). There are no crickets, extraneous noises and rumblings. The machine does not eat oil at all, no liquids flow out of anywhere. Gasoline consumption for 45 thousand km the average for checks (Moscow + region + few routes) - 10.7 liters. Service - from the officials, according to the full program recommended by them (usually they offer to do something else besides the regulations).

Strengths:

The car is unpretentious for Russian roads, services, gasoline, etc., with a wide service network, without problems with consumables (except for the front wipers) and spare parts (ugh 3 times).

Not particularly hijacked (CASCO is inexpensive).

Large gas tank (65 liters).

Does not splash with mud (neither the muzzle, nor the sides, nor the rear, nor the roof), no aerodynamic noise up to 150 km / h.

Weak sides:

In severe frost and snowfall, the brushes of regular wipers freeze (it would not hurt to heat them or at least select non-freezing ones, but too lazy to fool around).

There is not enough steering wheel heating (you have to sit down in winter and ride with gloves for the first time).

The reliability of the variator (and the cost of repairing or replacing it) is still in question. Some (very rarely) are unlucky (twitches or breaks altogether). Replacing with a new one is expensive, but repair and maintenance is no more expensive than an automatic transmission.

A small trunk (your set of tires barely fits) and not a spacious rear row. For those who like to carry a lot - not the best way.

The dynamics of the car is not for those who like to "burn out", but for driving by the rules - more than.

There are too many such cars on the streets, not only in Russia, but all over the world (in Europe - for sure).

Both of these models belong to the C SUV Volume class - the mid-price category of mid-range crossovers. Therefore, we will compare them to the fullest extent - middle class must know what he is paying for.

Outside and inside
We will not argue about the appearance. It's a matter of taste if you have one. We can only say that the design of the Qashqai is newer than that of the Mazda CX-5, which appeared in 2012, and therefore Nissan attracts more attention, looks fresher. But this phenomenon is temporary and after half a year, the novelty of Qashqai will naturally disappear. And there, you see, the CX-5 will be updated. The facelift version has already been shown in spy photos. Therefore, it is worth comparing objective indicators. For example, crossover sizes inside and out.

The difference in price does not imply that the Mazda CX-5 has to be bigger, because it is more expensive. But it is so: the CX-5 has a length of 4555 mm, and the Qashqai has a length of 4377 mm. The Mazda is also slightly larger in width. But the main thing is that the Mazda CX-5 has a slightly larger wheelbase: 2700 mm versus 2646 mm for the Qashqai. These 5 cm are not superfluous at all. First, they compensate for the larger volume that four-wheel drive Mazda (diesel Qashqai - front-wheel drive). Secondly, the trunk volume of the CX-5 is 443 liters, while the Qashqai has 400 liters. But the main thing is that the CX-5 has more space in the cabin. Although the Qashqai salon cannot be called cramped, the CX-5 has more space.

The interior design is also more modern for the Nissan Qashqai. And many passengers liked it better. I must say that the exterior and interior design of the new Qashqai is one of the best, if not the best in its class. But, in full "stuffing" in the diesel Mazda CX-5, the design of a boring and somewhat old-fashioned interior is brilliantly enlivened by the red stitching on the leather seats.

If we compare the Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Qashqai in terms of the level of equipment and all sorts of fashionable and not very bells and whistles, then the light of the Mazda CX-5 in the test complete set Premium - excellent - bi-xenon. Many people like the panoramic glass roof on the Nissan Qashqai, which was included in the test package. In addition, the Nissan Qashqai received a 360-degree view system, similar to the Infinit FX. Comfort
The fact that there is a diesel under the hood of Mazda is understandable only to the driver who knows about it and feels excellent traction and throttle response. The torque of the CX-5 motor of 420 Nm is something.

Neither vibration nor the characteristic diesel sound can be heard in the cabin. The engine compartment is perfectly insulated. Such insulation would still be for the underbody and wheel arches. But this is a feature of all Mazda, which you get used to very quickly and stop noticing. Moreover, in the new lineup Mazda, they've done some serious work on creating the quietness in the cabin.

Do not affect the ride comfort and misunderstandings on our roads. The suspension of the Mazda CX-5 is excellent. On the track, she confidently holds and drives the car at a good speed (much higher than the highest allowed on our roads). Although, objectively, after 130 km / h the gas pedal CX-5 loses its former responsiveness.

On the pits and "police" the suspension resiliently with the sound of reliability is triggered without discomfort even for rear passengers. Off-road (relative) Mazda CX-5 behaves like a well-trained urban tourist. Ground clearance 210 mm, four-wheel drive, powerful diesel torque. You won't get stuck.

In the Nissan Qashqai, the diesel runs relatively quietly. Although, there are lounges and quieter, where it is not clear whether the engine is on or not. With Qashqai, it's understandable. During normal driving, you get used to this quiet rumble and do not notice. When overtaking, when the revolutions exceed 2500 per minute, the sound of the engine is already heard well. But not so much that you have to shout over him. That is, the soundproofing of the cabin is normal.

But the suspension could be more powerful. She is clearly urban. Qashqai rolls in corners and "gags" in our pits. Absolutely not critical - almost the same as the previous generation of this crossover. Since such features did not prevent him from being popular, it means, basically, these are nit-picking of those who often change different cars and has the ability to compare. Nissan Qashqai speaks about the city registration ground clearance at 185 mm. Although there are enough of them in the city.

Driving joy
In a nutshell: you drive a Nissan Qashqai, and a Mazda CX-5 you light it up. Nissan is more suited for a calm, relaxed ride. Mazda is for a groovy drive, although it is relaxed to drive a quarter of the gas pedal, no one forbids it either.

In the city hustle and bustle Mazda CX-5 - very decent, understandable and sharp steering, even in spite of the large 19-inch wheels. The steering speed of the diesel CX-5 is 2 and ½, so the crossover is easy to obey the steering wheel. The sharpness of the control allows you to maneuver quite extreme in narrow places, but thanks to good visibility from the driver's seat, such maneuvers are tightly held without heart sinking. In the corners, the crossover gives, of course, a roll - the ground clearance of 210 mm is not going anywhere. But the roll is confident, not terrible even for the mother-in-law. Without a hint that the Mazda CX-5 is about to tip over or start sliding off the road. The diesel engine is heavier than the gasoline engine, and the diesel CX-5 weighs almost 200 kg more. But this does not impair the crossover's handling. On the contrary, it seems that the car is more confident on the road.

And the acceleration dynamics of 9.4 s to a hundred can not be called weak. Mazda CX-5 rides fervently. Overtaking is not a problem, especially in the manual gearshift mode, which is available on the 6-speed automatic. He, by the way, does not "dull" - switch from gear to gear on time and does not force the driver to adapt himself - to make a reserve of time for the acceleration to start with some delay. At the same time, I would like to note the correct operation of the i-stop system, which turns off the engine at traffic lights and saves fuel.

In terms of driving dynamics, the Nissan Qashqai is neither a leader nor an outsider. It is slower than Mazda, but 11.1s to 100s is a normal result. In sports mode, the car rides, of course, livelier. More precisely - sharper, which creates the illusion of additional dynamics. But hardly faster. The variator responds faster. But in the "eco" mode it sometimes seems that the spring in the gas pedal has broken. So limp and almost without resisting, she falls through the first third. The controllability is clear and not bad. 3 and ¼ turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock is not a sports indicator, but quite acceptable for the average motorist. The power of the Nissan Qashqai engine is enough, the dynamics are normal, the variator works practically without delays, there is sport mode and the ability to manually shift gears.

Who's better?
So what do we have for the $ 4,000 difference? The CX-5 has four-wheel drive, more spacious salon, more powerful motor, better dynamics and off-road qualities... All of the above is definitely worth such a price difference.

Both diesel engines proved to be quite economical in urban conditions. Not the same, of course, as in those characteristics of the manufacturer, but still. In Mazda СХ-5 Average diesel consumption is 7.6 l / 100 km. Nissan Qashqai has 7.5 l / 100 km.

The Nissan Qashqai is a balanced average car that should and should please the average buyer. Mazda CX-5 - more sub-drive. Moreover, for additional drive and four-wheel drive, you do not have to pay with higher fuel consumption.

The answer to the seemingly specific question "who is better?" leads many into the jungle of virtual thinking. And even philosophizing. Why? Because the Mazda CX-5 could be better from a driver's point of view. Passengers will like Nissan Qashqai more. Objectively, the Mazda CX-5 has a more powerful engine, better dynamics, four-wheel drive. And diesel consumption is practically the same as that of Qashqai. But subjectively (and this is how a car is most often chosen - I want it all), it is difficult to say who a potential buyer will choose. More precisely, he will prefer it. Perhaps detailed tests of each model, which were published by our source, will help with this.

“They usually get cars from here by helicopter,” either joked or sympathized with the local “jeep” who “tore off more than one towing eyelet here”. Meanwhile, Nissan Qashqai lagged behind Mazda by several tens of meters: the crossover could not overcome the track overgrown with slippery grass. The all-wheel drive system works almost without errors, shifting the moment to the right wheel, and it seems that the Qashqai is about to go ashore, but the suspension arms are retracted into the ground.

Nissan ground clearance Russian assembly in comparison with the English version, it was increased by exactly one centimeter - this was achieved due to stiffer springs and shock absorbers. As a result, the Qashqai's ground clearance turned out to be very decent for its class - 200 millimeters. So you can't complain about the geometric cross-country ability of the Japanese crossover - if Nissan frankly doesn't export it somewhere, then this is definitely not a problem with low bumpers.

Mazda CX-5 risked to remain in the swampy slurry forever - the body slowly sank deeper and deeper, which even had to turn off the engine. Land Cruiser prado seemed like a sure savior, but the problems began with the crossover towing eyelet getting bogged down in the mud. After the "Mazda" somehow managed to hook on the dynamic line, the problems began already with Prado.


On very viscous surfaces, even prepared for difficulties Land cruiser Prado turned out to be helpless - it simply does not have a “cowshed” regime. The Japanese SUV is equipped with a highly intelligent Multi-terrain Select system that fine-tunes engine, transmission and suspension modes to suit current road conditions. For most road conditions these packages are enough, where the electronics itself decides what kind of slippage to allow, whether individual wheels need to be braked and what traction limit must be ensured in order to overcome a steep climb. In addition, the Land Cruiser Prado has "classic" locks for interaxle and rear interwheel differentials. You can, of course, also turn on the lowering row and raise the stern thanks to the rear air struts.

Prado, unlike its competitors, did not fall into the abyss - at some point it simply hung in place, burying itself even deeper. What was under the wheels of the SUV, and it is difficult to call the earth. However, when the Land Cruiser cannot move, another Land Cruiser comes to its aid - in our case, it was a turbodiesel version of the previous generation. Towbar, dynamic sling, blocking - and the prepared SUV pulled two cars at once.

Lumps of clay, monotonous engine sounds and an eerie rumble are not military actions, but just a Nissan Qashqai, whose road tread is completely clogged. He, on the verge of a foul, overcame another difficult section and was already preparing to turn around, when he refused to go on the necessary tractor and got stuck in the deepest puddle on the route. But Qashqai unexpectedly refused the services of Land Cruiser Prado: a few minutes of races - and the crossover independently got out onto the asphalt without a hint of overheating of the variator.
Mazda CX-5 went along the path of "Kashkaya" gracefully, almost without mistakes. Where there was a lack of grip on slippery surfaces, a 192-horsepower engine came to the rescue. There was no need to complain about the geometric cross-country ability: the ground clearance from the lowest point of the bottom to the ground is 215 millimeters. This is already quite off-road performance, but the overall potential outside the asphalt was slightly spoiled by bulky overhangs. "Clack clat bang" - this CX-5 rides over bumps, each time clinging rear bumper on the ground. Better to be careful with speed than looking for bumper clips in the clay. But the crossover does not forgive mistakes: once we were modest with the "gas" - we run after the Land Cruiser.

These cars belong to the crossover segment and represent a popular solution among many car enthusiasts. The crossover is a kind of intermediate link between massive SUVs and compact passenger cars.

The main advantages of such cars are considered to be that they allow you to expand your range of potential target use. Crossovers quite successfully cope not only with medium-quality asphalt pavement, but also allow the owner to drive off-road.

In terms of comfort and handling, crossovers are not inferior passenger car, and in terms of technological components and cross-country performance, they have much in common with full-fledged SUVs.

The objects of our comparison today will be crossover Mazda The CX-5, which was introduced in 2011, and the popular 2013 Nissan Qashqai. Model versions have diesel and gasoline engines, The check point is represented by an automatic and a manual transmission.

At the same time, the classic traditions of modern automobile construction and body design have been fully preserved. However, having put both cars side by side, Mazda CX-5 is still half a step ahead. The general concept of the car is better traced in this model. The balance between the front, side and rear exteriors is more harmonious and styled than the Nissan Qashqai.

The interior of the Mazda CX-5 promises a lot. The first impression is positive. All details are of high quality, without sharp corners. You can observe a certain inclination of designers to round off the shapes that make up the internal component of the crossover.

The roar of the engine begins to bother only outside the mid-range.

With many similar features and quality indicators, the interior of the Nissan Qashqai in high trim levels looks more modern and technologically advanced than the solution from Mazda. It is worth considering the fact that the Mazda CX-5 appeared earlier than the model from Nissan, and the question of time is very important for technological progress. If we compare the configurations close to the basic ones, then Mazda is in no way inferior to its more modern competitor.

Driving performance

Mazda CX-5

A crossover with a high-torque diesel heart is a dream for any of the motorists. This type The internal combustion engine, paired with an excellently tuned suspension, provides the Mazda CX-5 with outstanding performance and driving performance. Even at those speeds that are far ahead of the permitted ones, the car behaves confidently. The suspension is knocked down and elastic, on serious obstacles and potholes it works out, although not quite imposingly and gently, but it does not come to breakdown or unpleasant sounds. Both front and rear passengers feel comfortable. Clearance allows you to attack low curbs and minor holes.

The steering wheel is sharp, the car obediently and predictably reacts to the slightest wiggle of the steering wheel. A large number of electronic systems active safety make driving in Mazda reliable, calm and comfortable. The only caveat is the lack of proper reactive effort on the steering wheel when picking up speed. Information content is lost a little, but this is not a problem, rather, just a matter of habit.

There are no questions about the brake system, all settings are predictable. The car's brakes are excellent.

Nissan qashqai

Power and torque, please note, not the most voluminous diesel engine, Nissan Qashqai is missing. Both in the city and on the highway, it is quite possible to dynamically accelerate and maneuver.

But there is a certain list of complaints about the implementation of the suspension functions. All undercarriage assemblies are clearly tuned for comfort. The suspension is soft and quiet on small irregularities, but when the wheel hits the pit deeper, a dull knock appears. This is not a breakthrough yet, but it is close to that. It turns out a kind of payback for comfort. With sharp maneuvers, slight rolls are observed, which affects the sharpness of taxiing and overall controllability. The crossover is clearly focused on calm urban driving, as evidenced by its clearance. Departure on light off-road is understood rather as a forced necessity, rather than a specific goal.

In the track mode, active electronic assistants, although they try to improve the situation by keeping the car on a given trajectory, but the feeling that the car is rolling does not leave you when driving at slightly higher speeds.

The crossover brakes confidently, no nuances were revealed here. Customization braking systems at a high level.

Both cars show excellent dynamics for their class and provide a comfortable and reliable ride. Mazda pulls ahead slightly ahead of Nissan in handling and power characteristics. Qashqai is the preferred option for comfort and leisure in urban environments. If you intend to operate a crossover for high-speed driving on highways, you are planning trips on light off-road terrain, then you should pay more attention to the CX-5 model.

Spaciousness

Both models are practically equal in their overall characteristics... The slightly larger wheelbase of the Mazda CX-5 allows you to win a small headroom. Both models have ample headroom and width in the front row. The back row allows you to comfortably accommodate two adult passengers, three are already cramped. There is plenty of legroom for the back row.

It is worth considering separately the fact that on the passenger front seat and in the back row, the space above the head may not be enough for those people whose height is at around 190 cm and above. This is due to design feature sloping roofs for both Mazda and Nissan.

The trunk of the Mazda CX-5 allows you to get 443 liters of usable volume. Rear seats fold easily, giving access to an almost flat floor of 1.7 meters in length and a maximum of 1560 liters, which is an impressive figure.

The trunk of the Nissan Qashqai is capable of providing a volume of 430 liters. Folding the back row, we get 1585 liters, respectively.

Fuel consumption

Fuel efficiency of crossovers is high, considering that both cars have excellent dynamic characteristics... Particularly surprising is the crossover from Mazda, which is distinguished by outstanding power at a fairly low diesel consumption.

According to our source, in the popularity rating Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX-5 are next to each other. They are in the top ten in their sales class. But this is in the overall standings, which, among other things, includes the recently appeared new diesel Nissan Qashqai and the diesel Mazda CX-5, which has been on sale since the spring of this year. Both of these models belong to the C SUV Volume class - the mid-price category of mid-range and mid-range crossovers. Therefore, we will compare them to the fullest extent - the middle class should know what it pays for.

Our source tested diesel Nissan Qachqai New and diesel Mazda CX-5. Nissan Qashqai with a 1.6-liter engine producing 130 hp. and a stepless CVT variator in full minced meat for 446 thousand UAH. But! It was July 18th. Today - August 15th, this model costs 488,160 UAH. Therefore, we write: the equivalent of $ 37,000.


The test Mazda CX-5 was equipped with a 2.2-liter 175 hp engine. and a 6-speed automatic gearbox in full minced meat for UAH 492,700. But! It was August 1st. Today is August 15th, this model already costs UAH 513,500. Therefore, we write: the equivalent of $ 39,000.

Total: regardless of the course, the difference is $ 2 thousand.

Outside and inside
We will not argue about the appearance. It's a matter of taste if you have one. We can only say that the design of the Qashqai is newer than that of the Mazda CX-5, which appeared in 2012, and therefore Nissan attracts more attention, looks fresher. But this phenomenon is temporary and after half a year, the novelty of Qashqai will naturally disappear. And there, you see, the CX-5 will be updated. The facelift version has already been shown in spy photos. Therefore, it is worth comparing objective indicators. For example, crossover sizes inside and out.

The difference in price does not imply that the Mazda CX-5 has to be bigger, because it is more expensive. But it is so: the CX-5 has a length of 4555 mm, and the Qashqai has a length of 4377 mm. The Mazda is also slightly larger in width. But the main thing is that the Mazda CX-5 has a slightly larger wheelbase: 2700 mm versus 2646 mm for the Qashqai. These 5 cm are not superfluous at all. First, they compensate for the larger volume that Mazda's four-wheel drive takes (the diesel Qashqai has front-wheel drive). Secondly, the trunk volume of the CX-5 is 443 liters, while the Qashqai has 400 liters. But the main thing is that the CX-5 has more space in the cabin. Although the Qashqai salon cannot be called cramped, the CX-5 has more space.

The interior design is also more modern for the Nissan Qashqai. And many passengers liked it better. I must say that the exterior and interior design of the new Qashqai is one of the best, if not the best in its class. But, in full "stuffing" in the diesel Mazda CX-5, the design of a boring and somewhat old-fashioned interior is brilliantly enlivened by the red stitching on the leather seats.

If we compare the Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Qashqai in terms of the level of equipment and all sorts of fashionable and not very bells and whistles, then the light of the Mazda CX-5 in the test complete Premium package is excellent - bi-xenon. There is a parking sensor with a video camera that work correctly and accurately, without raising an alarm a “kilometer” before an obstacle. Navigation knows everything. In any case, in Kiev we did not find any “blank spots” on the map. And she prompts the turns in time. The Bose audio system was not at all superfluous in the complete "stuffing" of the test CX-5.

Many people like the panoramic glass roof on the Nissan Qashqai, which was included in the test package. In addition, the Nissan Qashqai received a 360-degree view system, similar to the Infinit FX. The new Nissan Qashqai also has a blind spot monitoring system. When someone catches up to you on the right or left, lamps come on in the cabin at the level of the exterior mirrors. The optics of the Nissan Qashqai are also premium: both front and rear LEDs, and in the top versions - xenon. What I liked especially in the summer was the cold air cooling of the driver's and passenger's cup holders that was turned on, if necessary.

That is, according to the trim levels of both crossovers, it is easier to say what they do not have in full stuffing. By the way, both leather seats are heated (which is important in winter), but they do not have ventilation (which is important in summer). Regarding what is, sometimes the question arises whether this option is needed, in principle, and whether it is worth paying for it.

By and large, most of the equipment you've just read about is what passengers most often pay attention to. The driver has other joys.

Comfort
The fact that there is a diesel under the hood of Mazda is understandable only to the driver who knows about it and feels excellent traction and throttle response. The torque of the CX-5 motor of 420 Nm is something.

Neither vibration nor the characteristic diesel sound can be heard in the cabin. The engine compartment is perfectly insulated. Such insulation would still be for the underbody and wheel arches. But this is a feature of all Mazda, which you get used to very quickly and stop noticing. Moreover, in the new Mazda lineup, they have seriously worked on creating silence in the cabin.

Do not affect the ride comfort and misunderstandings on our roads. The suspension of the Mazda CX-5 is excellent. On the track, she confidently holds and drives the car at a good speed (much higher than the highest allowed on our roads). Although, objectively, after 130 km / h the gas pedal CX-5 loses its former responsiveness.

On the pits and "police" the suspension resiliently with the sound of reliability is triggered without discomfort even for rear passengers. Off-road (relative) Mazda CX-5 behaves like a well-trained urban tourist. Ground clearance 210 mm, four-wheel drive, powerful diesel torque. You won't get stuck.

In the Nissan Qashqai, the diesel runs relatively quietly. Although, there are lounges and quieter, where it is not clear whether the engine is on or not. With Qashqai, it's understandable. During normal driving, you get used to this quiet rumble and do not notice. When overtaking, when the revolutions exceed 2500 per minute, the sound of the engine is already heard well. But not so much that you have to shout over him. That is, the soundproofing of the cabin is normal.

But the suspension could be more powerful. She is clearly urban. Qashqai rolls in corners and "gags" in our pits. Absolutely not critical - almost the same as the previous generation of this crossover. Since such features did not prevent him from being popular, it means, basically, these are nit-picking of those who often change different cars and have the ability to compare. The ground clearance of 185 mm also speaks about the city registration of Nissan Qashqai. Although there are enough of them in the city.

Driving joy
In a nutshell: you drive a Nissan Qashqai, and a Mazda CX-5 you light it up. Nissan is more suited for a calm, relaxed ride. Mazda is for a groovy drive, although it is relaxed to drive a quarter of the gas pedal, no one forbids it either.

In the city hustle and bustle Mazda CX-5 - very decent, understandable and sharp steering, even in spite of the large 19-inch wheels. The steering speed of the diesel CX-5 is 2 and ½, so the crossover is easy to obey the steering wheel. The sharpness of the control allows you to maneuver quite extreme in narrow places, but thanks to good visibility from the driver's seat, such maneuvers are tightly held without heart sinking. In the corners, the crossover gives, of course, a roll - the ground clearance of 210 mm is not going anywhere. But the roll is confident, not terrible even for the mother-in-law. Without a hint that the Mazda CX-5 is about to tip over or start sliding off the road. The diesel engine is heavier than the gasoline engine, and the diesel CX-5 weighs almost 200 kg more. But this does not impair the crossover's handling. On the contrary, it seems that the car is more confident on the road.

And the acceleration dynamics of 9.4 s to a hundred can not be called weak. Mazda CX-5 rides fervently. Overtaking is not a problem, especially in the manual gearshift mode, which is available on the 6-speed automatic. He, by the way, does not "dull" - switch from gear to gear on time and does not force the driver to adapt himself - to make a reserve of time for the acceleration to start with some delay. At the same time, I would like to note the correct operation of the i-stop system, which turns off the engine at traffic lights and saves fuel.

In terms of driving dynamics, the Nissan Qashqai is neither a leader nor an outsider. It is slower than Mazda, but 11.1s to 100s is a normal result. In sports mode, the car rides, of course, livelier. More precisely - sharper, which creates the illusion of additional dynamics. But hardly faster. The variator responds faster. But in the "eco" mode it sometimes seems that the spring in the gas pedal has broken. So limp and almost without resisting, she falls through the first third. The controllability is clear and not bad. 3 and ¼ turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock is not a sports indicator, but quite acceptable for the average motorist. The power of the Nissan Qashqai engine is enough, the dynamics are normal, the variator works almost without delays, there is a sport mode and the ability to manually shift gears.

Who's better?
So what do we have for the $ 2K difference? The CX-5 has four-wheel drive, a more spacious interior, a more powerful engine, better dynamics and off-road qualities. All of the above is definitely worth such a price difference.

Both diesel engines proved to be quite economical in urban conditions. Not the same, of course, as in those characteristics of the manufacturer, but still. In Mazda СХ-5 Average diesel consumption is 7.6 l / 100 km. Nissan Qashqai has 7.5 l / 100 km.

The Nissan Qashqai is a balanced average car that should and should please the average buyer. Mazda CX-5 - more sub-drive. Moreover, for additional drive and four-wheel drive, you do not have to pay with higher fuel consumption.

The answer to the seemingly specific question "who is better?" leads many into the jungle of virtual thinking. And even philosophizing. Why? Because the Mazda CX-5 could be better from a driver's point of view. Passengers will like Nissan Qashqai more. Objectively, the Mazda CX-5 has a more powerful engine, better dynamics, four-wheel drive. And diesel consumption is practically the same as that of Qashqai. But subjectively (and this is how a car is most often chosen - I want it all), it is difficult to say who a potential buyer will choose. More precisely, he will prefer it. Perhaps detailed tests of each model, which were published by our source, will help with this.
