Owner reviews

At the moment, I have wound my 12 thousand km, I will try to describe the sensations ... Living in the outback, I still clearly feel how people drill their eyes and turn their heads. Yes it's an Opel, but damn lucky appearance leaves no one indifferent.

When I bought a car, many kept saying, they say, how to live with it as a three-door. However, sitting back is quite normal, and sitting behind a person of average height is quite normal. My wife and I are not taller, the seats are pushed back quite a bit, so in the second row there is a solid space to the front seats. The back also has its own lighting, speakers, space for glasses, bottles or something else, there are hooks for clothes.

In general, what I like about this car is that for all its "youth" it provides a very adult level of comfort and equipment. Rain and light sensors work adequately. The adaptive bi-xenon is beautiful at night, the diode eyelash bezels look cool.

The engine lives only from two and a half thousand revolutions, before that it was quite a vegetable. In sixth gear at 3000 rpm, the speed is exactly 130 km / h. My consumption is mainly on the highway, and in the summer the average does not exceed 8.4 liters (of course, with condender, and the power loss from the condender is minimal), in winter the consumption is a little more, somewhere up to nine liters. Engine 180 HP frisky in moderation, or rather the car is very heavy 1613 kg. Besides big wheels so there is no overclocking that takes your breath away.

Video review

A month after the purchase, we set off with the girl on a trip to Altai on the GTC. For the trip I had to drive about 2,000 km. And then I realized how comfortable this car is for long trips on good roads... Active light, cruise control, rain sensor, good music - this helps a lot on a long trip. Then there were many other trips out of town - and each time the car was a real pleasure.

Keeps confidently on the track, there are enough dynamics to confidently overtake. Just switch to 4th or 5th speed and you're off. It is comfortable to drive on highways at 125 km / h. Discomfort is caused only by unexpected bumps on the road - a more or less serious bump can "pierce" the suspension with a characteristic sound.

The appearance at first drove me crazy, blissed out from everyone's attention. He constantly turned around when he got out of the car, beholding his beauty. Now I'm more or less used to it, but Astra still gives aesthetic pleasure.

And now honestly about the cons:

1. Large turning radius. It is compensated by beautiful large wheels.

2. The rear of the car quickly gets dirty due to the absence of mud flaps, and their presence greatly spoils the appearance.

3. Driver's seat. After adjusting for roll-out, the seat is not always fixed to the end, and you need to insert the seat into the groove with additional effort until it clicks. Moreover, after bad road in the city, the lower back begins to weep.

4. Electronic handbrake. There were a couple of cases when I did not put the car on the handbrake, and the car began to slowly roll back. A sharp click does not always work. Therefore, you need to press the button with emphasis.

But I will not attribute large doors to minuses. Yes, you need to calculate the distance to the next car when parking, but what a pleasure it is to open and slam a large and heavy door!

Review of the Opel Astra GTC 1.4 turbo (140 hp) on the mechanics of 2012

The comfort of the front sports seats, you sit like in a "capsule";
+ good noise isolation (only the muffler hums on high revs);
+ good information content of the instrument panel, a lot of buttons (feeling like on an airplane);
+ the interior is beautifully illuminated (door opening handles, panel near the gearshift knob).

- it is inconvenient to sit in the seats, as well as very inconvenient to climb out of them (especially who has a large 5th point);
- disease of the combined seats (after 30 thousand km. Everyone has cracked the lower lateral support of the seat made of leatherette, on which they usually sit down when landing, for someone it is generally torn into the trash);
- because of the wide front struts, visibility is lost.

Next, let's move on to the body. The body is the hallmark of this model. Due to large standard 18-inch wheels and design features, the car has a small steering angle, which is very inconvenient, especially in a large city. It is also inconvenient with huge doors, which, although they open almost 90 degrees, that at least take a running jump, but because of this it is difficult to look for a parking place, because with such an opening of the doors, a lot of space is needed.

Suspension:

On the track with its own weight and wheels it goes like a tank.

- albeit on 18 wheels, but tough, every joint and bump is felt, it shakes well!

Manual transmission:

I think that the GTC's manual transmission is a weak point. I was faced with the fact that this box, with a NATIVE run of 75,000 km, whistled a bearing input shaft... The problem turns out to be massive, many people drive with it anyway, so when accelerating over 40 km / h, a whistle appears in the box (everyone thinks that this whistle is somewhere else). I also dug up on the Internet that at high speeds in the box goes strong heating, and then oil overheating, and then the consequences are clear to everyone ...

Engine:

The 1.4 engine is a strangled engine with a small impeller, which, as they say, does not need to be cooled even after a trip, but I still got used to cooling it down for a minute on long journeys. He does not like racing, as well as high speeds, it is worth stamping and something is sure to hit somewhere, so there is only one word from the SPORT equipment and the exhaust system.

Review of the Opel Astra GTC 1.4 turbo manual transmission 2012

In the parking lot next to the GTC, all other cars seem featureless and unprepossessing. When you start the engine, turn on the music and start smoothly (although you could light it up), you forget about all the problems and worries that tormented and haunted. You turn on the heated steering wheel and you feel the vibration of the low frequencies of the audio system with your whole body. Well, you must !!! I go without gloves, my hands do not freeze. It's just some kind of holiday!

I let others pass, I climb into a row with full confidence that they will let me through, and this happens. I can easily go around any car I feel like going around and feel a huge amount of power under the hood.

But at the same time, I absolutely do not want to drive. I am pleased to turn on the fifth gear at 80 km / h and, slightly touching the pedal, out of the corner of my eye, see the message: 4.5 liters per 100 km. But with this smooth movement, I know that at any moment, staying in the same gear and slightly pressing the pedal, a car with a cheetah growl will accelerate from 80 to 120 km / h in a couple of seconds.

On the GTC, all the small and natural irregularities of the Russian roads are perceived as a slight vibration. But if you fly into a serious pothole at speed, then the blow will be strong. And at this moment you realize how stiff the car's suspension is. As a result, you have to work on the steering wheel, bypassing all this disgrace.

We drive up to the office, looking for a parking place. I find my usual space of 4.5 meters and I understand that my car is exactly that length, so I can only park on such a heel with a crane. I find a place for a meter more. Seems like it should be enough.

I began to back off, and immediately heard the scream of the chamber. I get out of the car. My God, and there is still about a meter - to crawl and crawl. It would seem, turn off the parking sensors and calmly back up another 50 centimeters, but set high rear glass does not allow you to see the hood rear car... As a result, you have to maneuver, pressing against the car in front, since there are no problems with visibility in the front part.

Konstantin, review of the Opel Astra J GTC 2.0d diesel (130 HP) MT 2012

Someone may disagree, but personally I think that today of all Opels, the GTC is the most beautiful and harmonious.

There were no problems with adaptation, the wife got used to the car very quickly, which is not surprising. The steering wheel is very pleasant, lightweight, the pedals are also very soft, getting into the car is comfortable, the steering wheel is adjustable both in height and in reach, there is powerful lateral support and a bunch of settings for the seat itself.

The decoration and quality of materials in the cabin are also at a height, the seats are combined, and in the place where they have the fabric, the fabric itself is very dense, I think it will be very difficult to kill it. Everything else is automotive leather, stitched together. In general, everything is done very soundly.

A very pleasant sound of the engine, such a deep bass with a roar, and the sound insulation for its class is at a level, and it is interesting that on winter tires the car became generally very quiet.

The car holds the road perfectly, and in general, excellent taxiing is the most vivid impression of this car. The ground clearance for a car of this class is also quite satisfactory, almost 16 cm. winter tires so in general 17 cm.

So, what is impractical and inconvenient in this car ... Firstly, these are huge doors, so when parking you need to think about this first, it is better not to drive into a narrow place, because the swing of the door is not less than a meter. Secondly, the left stance - it really bothers me. You can't see a fig in the rear window either, but actually there is nothing to look at, since there are parking sensors.

Review of the Opel Astra GTC 1.4 automatic 2013 onwards

Opel, which left us untimely, left as a memento numerous offspring of its once most popular Astra model. Was this Generation J flower (2009-2015) too delicate?

Epics about Opel rusting in a sieve are things of bygone days. Today, elderly Asters J, having a trouble-free fate, resist serious age-related corrosion quite successfully - the initial signs of disease in the rear arches, lower edges of doors or the trunk lid of two-volume booms are rather the exception than the rule. And the weak point unexpectedly turned out to be the cavity of the rear fender near the fuel filler neck of all five-doors and station wagons: in 2016, they even staged a revocable anticorrosive treatment campaign.

There are also copies of the first years of production (both European and St. Petersburg assembly), the paint from which I tried to fade in pieces: repainted elements are a sign not only of road accidents, but also of warranty dealer repairs. The painting technology in terms of improving adhesion was quickly finalized, but the layer itself paintwork from this did not become stronger: in just four to five years, the wheeled "sandblasting" is able to nullify it at the bottom of the flanges of the front fenders and on the sills.

It is premature that the roof, unlike other exterior body panels, is not honored with a zinc layer, reminds of the legends of deep antiquity in a light form. With the tint of bugs willingly settling in the edge above the windshield, do not pull.

Bubbling or peeling of pieces of "chrome" coating on the face or door moldings in three or four years is already a sure sign of the present era. As well as flimsy mounts for fog lights (from 100 to 280 euros at the rate of 67 rubles per euro), which cannot tolerate even harmless poking into a snowdrift. And the delicate windshield (220 euros for a brand name and from 100 for high-quality analogs) not only is easily rubbed, but also tends to crack at the slightest temperature changes.

At first, the Astra was only a five-door hatchback, a wagon was added a year later. The three-door GTC is never older than 2011, and the sedan was the last in 2012.

Seeing the adaptive headlights AFL (Adaptive Forward Lighting) in the list of equipment of the vending instance, do not rejoice, but carefully look into the eyes of the chosen one. They shine better, but their caps turn cloudy after four to five years as easily as ordinary ones. In addition, the designers missed the grade of plastic for the reflectors of the additional side sections: over time, it melts and flows like plasticine in the sun! Expensive (600 euros each) headlights, of course, can only be officially changed as a whole. So while the dealers were trying to deal with the scourge by reducing the reprogramming time for switching on the sections, the craftsmen mastered their repair - also for the reanimation of the lens drive motors, which after five to seven years become monuments to themselves. At the same time, the headlights are equally likely to stare either under their breath or into the sky. And the AFL control unit is also trying to bring the heap, to replace which in 2014 it was necessary to arrange a revocable campaign.

Water, water, water all around ...

The roof will also have to be inspected not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Condensation on a weakly insulated panel sometimes accumulates noticeably: streaks appear on the ceiling, and the ceiling light tries to depict a shower head! In the presence of a hatch, the situation can be aggravated by its own leakage, and leaking seals of the additional brake light on the tailgate often contribute to flooding the stern. Warranty dealers changed the entire cover together with the seal (40 euros). And if you give up on it, the spare wheel niche can turn into a pool squelching on the go.

A brake light on the tailgate can leak water into the interior

However, the most popular place for a “wet” hangout among pre-styling specimens is the floor underfoot in front. Moreover, one of the methods of penetration, the water chose a very exotic - sniper dripping from the cylindrical rod of the trapezium of the wiper into the air intake under it. On the way, of course, making it unusable cabin filter... In 2011, we had to start a service campaign to batten down Kingston in an equally original way: clamps were attached to the traction, from which the water drained even before the grate, into the groove. And then they staged a second action - to educate the drainage pipe of the air conditioner heat exchanger, which wetted not only the rugs on the floor. If Astra suddenly turns into a haunted house, having thought of honking without asking, clicking door locks, waving the wipers or arranging a color music, it means that the BCM unit located under the central air duct (140 euros) has been bathed.

Opel Astra j 1.6 liter engine... Today we'll talk about its turbocharged modification Opel Astra J with 180 hp. Z16LET. The motor appeared in 2006 and was created on the basis of the Z16XER series engine.

The Z16LET turbo engine, in addition to the well-known design, received the same problems as its atmospheric counterpart. As for reliability, the Opel Astra turbo engine runs on our fuel and is not very quality oil may become unusable after 100 thousand kilometers. Quite a whimsical engine that requires high-quality and timely service.

Opel Astra j 1.6 device

The basis of the engine design is a cast iron cylinder block. The cylinders are machined directly into the block. The 16-valve mechanism usually does not cause problems, since there are hydraulic lifters and it is not necessary to adjust the thermal clearance of the valves. At the heart of the timing belt is the belt. But we'll talk about the belt drive below. The main feature of the motor can be considered a phase change system on both camshafts... It is this system that causes a lot of trouble. especially if you pour low-quality oil. After all, phase shifters work exclusively due to oil pressure, focusing on various sensors. If you hear a strange rattling sound from under the hood (diesel sound), then do not rush to sin on hydraulic lifters, most likely it is the actuators of the CVCP valve timing system that are out of order.

A schematic of the operation of the CVCP phase change system is shown in the following picture.

As a turbine, the designers of the engine installed the KKK K03 unit, which provides not only high power, but also excellent torque already from 2000-2300 rpm. The compression ratio is reduced to 8.8. Due to the high loads, under which almost all parts of the motor, extraneous noise and vibration quite often appear. Of the minuses, the engine's great appetite for oil can be noted.

Timing device Opel Astra j 1.6

Features Opel Astra j 1.6 (180 HP)

  • Working volume - 1598 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 79 mm
  • Piston stroke - 81.5 mm
  • Timing drive - belt
  • Power hp (kW) - 180 (132) at 5500 rpm. in min.
  • Torque - 230 Nm at 5400 rpm in min.
  • Maximum speed - 221 km / h
  • Acceleration to the first hundred - 8.5 seconds

  • Compression ratio - 8.8
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 9.8 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5.5 liters
  • Combined fuel consumption - 7.3 liters

If the modification of the Z16LET engine met the Euro-4 requirements, then the A16LET version fits into the Euro-5 environmental standard. Actually, the engines have no constructive difference, only the settings have changed. Among other things, the Opel Astra j 1.6 turbo engine is very picky about fuel quality. In our country, it is better to fill in AI-98 gasoline.

Opel Astra J is positioned by the manufacturer as a car for a young family. It was intended to replace the previous Astra family of the H series. The letter designation "J" indicates ninth generation this line. The reliability of the machine plays a decisive role in sales and it is this that determines the activity in sales and the growing popularity of this series. Several body options and the presence of a diesel engine in the range allow you to choose a car to suit your preferences and tastes.

Disadvantages of the "Astra J" model

The advantages of the car, which is produced under the Opel brand, can be enumerated for a long time. All the advantages are well known not only to the owners and admirers of this brand, but also to people who are uncertainly oriented in the automotive field. But it is worth focusing on the shortcomings, especially if you want to buy a car "J" - series on secondary market.

Let's start the review of "sores" with the chassis and suspension.

An eternal disease at "Opel" - the ends of the steering rods. Very rarely, when they nurse more than 30 thousand km. Back multi-link suspension with the Watt mechanism suffers from the fact that the rods bend from the loads. Weak rear silent blocks of the front levers require special attention. The front shock absorbers can leak and start knocking after 50,000 km. All this can be revealed if, when buying, you carefully examine the chassis and take a short test drive.

Transmission units do not cause any special complaints, but there are several features

When equipping the car with automatic transmission, pay attention to the radiator. When it is depressurized, the performance of the automatic transmission will be a big question, since the coolant enters its hydraulic circuit. No wonder Opel conducted a revocable campaign on this issue. This applies to vehicles manufactured in 2009-2010. If you come across a car with a robotic gearbox, then remember - even before reaching 60 thousand km. they caused problems for the owners. If you feel strong while driving jerks or jerks, refuse to purchase this car. Know resource robotic box much less "machine".

Weaknesses "Opel Astra J"

Brake system and thermostat in the cooling system. Vibrations, noise during braking indicate the curvature of the brake discs. This is especially true for the top versions of the car, which have discs with a diameter of 321 mm. With strong heating as a result of braking and sharp cooling, the surface of the disc "warps", which manifests itself in vibrations. On machines manufactured in 2010-2012, the thermostat suffers from fragility, which is accompanied by the almost continuous operation of the cooling fans. When replacing, the gasket must be changed, otherwise the leak will be guaranteed.

What to look for when buying

The main disadvantages of "Opel Astra J", which you should pay attention to when buying a car, are: frequent failures in electronics, mediocre noise insulation, poor visibility, poor quality of finishing materials in the cabin, which leads to the appearance of "crickets" already at the initial stage of car operation , low-quality glass, especially the windshield, which very quickly "overwrites" and becomes cloudy.

Of course, any sores can be cured both independently and in a specialized technical center. Practically on any thematic forum there is a lot of information about what breaks most often in the "Astra J". There are problems with valve failure in the intake manifold. This applies to cars equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, as well as problems with paintwork.

There are many cases where the paint began to peel off in large pieces on cars that had not been used for more than ten years. Visually, you can determine this yourself, using a thickness gauge. As with all cars, the most problem areas- these are the sills, the trunk lid, the joints of the bumpers and fenders.

That's about all you need to look at when buying an Opel Astra J. If these typical sores were eliminated by the previous owner, then you can safely purchase this car... He will bring you great pleasure from management and from the very fact of owning this car.

The fourth-generation Astra, popular in Russia, underwent restyling in the summer of 2012, but the most significant fact for Russians is another event - the expansion of bodywork options for this model. Simply put - a four-door sedan was added to the previously offered hatchback, station wagon and “GTC coupe”.
As part of this review, we will look for new details in the exterior of cars and get acquainted in detail with the new product in the face of the sedan so expected by Russian motorists.

Opel Astra J (4th generation) and before restyling looked handsome, what did the designers decide to change in the appearance of the car? Interventions are only noticeable when looking closely at the front and rear. At the front, the updated Asters differ from dorestyling cars by a narrower false radiator grille with a stylish crossbar in the form of aircraft wings, a new bumper with a powerful relief and an increased air intake. The aerodynamic lip has become brighter. Almond-shaped depressions along the edges of the bumper to accommodate double anti-fog lamps (horizontal narrowed shades and round "eyes") with chrome boomerangs of the frame. The rear of the cars has got modified bumpers, decorated with a chrome strip. That's the whole facelift, the rest of the models have not changed and as before they look exemplary and stylish.

Sedan Opel Astra J, as befits this body version, with three-volume proportions. When looking from the side at the sedan, we highlight the dome-shaped roof line, which quickly runs down to a somewhat heavy stern with a lean trunk. Side four-window glazing with chrome edging together with a visually weightless roof and pillars give the car a lightness. The lower part of the body with the inflated arches and door surfaces visually expands the sedan. With the same wheelbase of 2685 mm with the hatchback and station wagon, the new four-door sedan "Astra" has 4658 mm in length, which is 71 mm longer than that of the five-door hatchback, and only 40 mm less than that of the station wagon "Sports Tourer". An interesting fact is the height of the sedan - 1500 mm, i.e. the hatchback is 10 mm higher, and the station wagon is 35 mm higher. So the dome of the roof of this "three-volume from Opel" is what is called domed.
The ground clearance of these cars in Russia is 165 mm.

The rear of the sedan is equipped with large lampshades for overall lighting, extending from the sidewalls to the vertical of the trunk lid of a compact size with an imitation of a spoiler on the edge and a powerful bumper. There are eleven color options for painting the body of the Opel Astra J family: white, blue, red, blue, black, brown, two shades of silver, gray-green, Asteroid Gray and Noblesse Bronze. Depending on the equipment level, tires with 205/60 R16 and 215/50 R17 disks are installed on the car, 225/45 R18 can be installed as an option.

Restyling in 2012 did not affect the interior decoration of the cars. Let's take a seat in one of the updated cars. Comfortable driver's seat with excellent profile, characteristic lateral thigh and upper body support. The grippy three-spoke steering wheel fits nicely in your hands. The range of adjustment of the seat and steering column allows you to easily find the optimal body position, both for active driving and for long stays on the road. Dashboard with two large and a couple of small "wells" in a chrome ring (the font would only be clearer). Center screen on-board computer providing the driver with the necessary minimum of information. A front dashboard with smooth contours, a center console with an intimidating array of buttons. According to reviews Opel owners Astra J you quickly get used to the scattering of keys, I am glad that each button is responsible for a separate function and when using it you do not have to look for a control method in the “branches” of an abstruse menu (a disease of many modern cars). Ergonomics at height, everything is at hand in the correct and correct accessible places, detailing and assembly of the salon for 5 with a plus.
The second row will comfortably accommodate three passengers, even the one sitting in the center will not feel like a "poor relative", there is an air conditioning system duct. With the advent of the Astra J model, Opel definitely managed to rise to a higher level in terms of the quality of the interior, the materials used, the level of soundproofing of the cabin and filling the car with additional comfort functions.
Let's see what's in the trunk of these German cars. The hatchback in the stowed state is ready to carry 370 liters of cargo, folding the second row seats we can load 795 liters (up to the glass level), and 1235 liters will fit under the ceiling. The five-passenger sedan has 460 liters, transforming the second row and loading it under the roof, we count 1010 useful liters. The luggage compartment of the station wagon can hold from 500 to 1550 liters. A full-size spare wheel is housed underground.

On Russian market The 2015 Opel Astra J is offered in three trim levels: Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo. In the initial version of Essentia, there will be guaranteed: front and side airbags, air conditioning, heated front seats, front power windows, a CD 300 radio (CD Aux), heated electric mirrors, ABS and ESP (+ assistant when starting up a hill), engine compartment protection and reinforced suspension. As an option, it is possible to order adaptive bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, 7-inch color display, traffic sign recognition system, parking assistant, blind spot monitoring system and other "chips".

About the technical characteristics. Regardless of the type Opel body The Astra J has excellent suspension characteristics thanks to the front-mounted MacPherson struts and the rear torsion beam with Watt's mechanism. Having paid 40,000 rubles, the owner will receive a car equipped with an adaptive FlexRide chassis with three suspension modes (Normal, Tour and Sport), capable of changing the suspension stiffness and steering wheel efforts depending on the road situation. As systems responsible for safety, it is envisaged to install ABS with Brake Assist, a dynamic stabilization system (ESP), depending on the level of equipment, an electro-hydraulic or electric power steering (SSPS), an assistance system when starting up the hill. Such a technical arsenal in real operating conditions gives the drivers of the Opel Astra J a lot of pleasure from driving. The car is characterized by stable and predictable behavior not only when driving with the permitted traffic speed, but also at “penalty” speeds.
In terms of power plants- "Astra" of the 4th generation for Russian motorists is available with four petrol engines:

  • Initial 1.4 l. XER (101 hp) with 5 manual gearbox is installed only on a five-door hatchback, has a moderate "appetite" and, according to the manufacturer, is content with 5.5 liters of fuel in mixed driving mode. Suitable for a slow driver, acceleration to 100 km / h in 14.2 seconds and a maximum speed of 178-183 km / h. But since 2013 it is no longer offered.
  • The next engine is 1.6 liters. XER (115 hp) with 5 manual gearbox (6 automatic gearbox) consumes an average of 6.3 (7.1) liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. More "live" engine, acceleration to the first "hundred" in 11.7 (13.3) seconds and maximum speed depending on the body type is 182-193 km / h.
  • The most "optimal" turbocharged 1.4 liters. NET (140 hp) with 6 automatic gearboxes consumes 6.7-7 liters of gasoline on the combined cycle and allows you to confidently dial the first “hundred” in 10.2 seconds and accelerate to 200-207 km / h.
  • At the top is a 1.6 liter turbo. LET (170 hp) with 6 automatic gearboxes, which consumes an average of 7.2-7.5 liters of gasoline with reasonable handling of the gas pedal and provides dynamics up to 100 km / h in 9 seconds, if the road situation allows the engine to accelerate the car to maximum 210-213 km / h. Data on dynamic, speed and fuel-economic indicators are given by the factory and may differ from the real ones during everyday use.

Price Opel sedan Astra J in Russia for 2015 starts at 829,900 rubles, for this amount you can buy it in basic configuration Essentia with 115 horsepower engine. And the richest grade Astra J Sedan Cosmo 1.6 liters. LET (170 hp) with 6 automatic gearboxes is offered at a price of ~ 1 230 thousand rubles.
