From the moment of its appearance, the transport, which was produced at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, was in demand. Until now, among motorists there are adherents of these cars, which are distinguished by their simplicity and reliability. At all times there were specialists who did not like basic configuration UAZ cars and they tried to turn it into something unusual. A lot of modernization options have been carried out, but I would like to dwell on the most unusual and memorable ones.

This vehicle is often improved for its good driving characteristics and suspension quality.

The most common modifications of the UAZ car. Some owners of such machines only replace wheels and recycle undercarriage... As for the economy, this is the option that will be the most profitable for a common man in the street.

You can easily find an all-terrain vehicle on tracks. Such vehicles are perfect for driving on swampy areas, as well as on snow-covered sections of the road. UAZ-All-terrain vehicle of this type weighs much more, and it is more difficult to maintain it. Compared to tracks, the advantages tend to favor the latter due to good grip.

Some models amaze with their appearance... Craftsmen alter the design of the car body in such a way that it is difficult to recognize it. As a rule, more money must be invested in such a vehicle and real masters must be involved in the work. On the roads of Russia there are all-terrain vehicles that have an unrecognizable body.

But loaf models are also changing. Most often, caterpillars are installed on them. There are also models with large ones, but their permeability is worse.

Swamp vehicle based on UAZ: details and design features

Let's analyze in detail design features a swamp rover based on a UAZ vehicle. If you decide to make such a transport, then you will need:

  • duralumin sheets;
  • screws M5;
  • rubber and metal pads;
  • synthetic rugs;
  • foam rubber;
  • cardan from the Volga car;
  • plastic.

First you need to make a frame. It is best made from steel pipes, which must be joined using welded seams. If there are no skills, then you need to contact a qualified welder. It must be understood that the frame has a significant load, since the all-terrain vehicle moves on an uneven road. From duralumin sheets we make the hood lining and the floor inside the cabin. The material must be taken with a thickness of 2 mm. To connect them to the frame, you will need the M5 screws you bought earlier. The joints will have to be treated with rubber gaskets to keep moisture out.

From the inside, the cabin must be sealed with foam rubber and plastic. Doors must be treated with a special sealing material that can withstand high loads. The seats of the UAZ are comfortable, so it is better not to touch them. Some designers recommend installing the fuel tank behind the driver's seat. The inner luggage compartment will also be conveniently located in the passenger compartment.

As soon as you started installing the wheels, you need to take into account the level of camber. Both axles of the car must be fastened to the frame with bolts and shock absorbers. Now we need cardan shaft from the Volga. Due to its simplicity, it allows easy installation on other units. There is one caveat - the holes from the UAZ and the Volga may not match. In this case, you need to prepare in advance and squander additional ones.

Do-it-yourself tracked all-terrain vehicle based on UAZ: what to buy

Unlike a regular swamp rover, you have to spend a little more here. The owner of the UAZ car will need to buy a set of their two tracks. You can try to put blocks separately on each wheel, but this will cost more. Some experts argue that having two tracks provides reliable traction on the road, so the performance of the all-terrain vehicle will improve.

If you put separate blocks on each wheel, then you need to install a standard UAZ hub in the largest roller. For this reason, torque will be transmitted to the entire track mechanism. The advantage here lies in the steering control and ease of control. The ground clearance of this all-terrain vehicle will be impressive. Some people make it a little easier by placing the tracks on top of the wheels. On such tracks, it is difficult to overcome obstacles in the form of fallen trees. The rest of the structure is completely carried out in the same sequence as on a conventional swamp vehicle.

When driving on tracked all-terrain vehicle we must remember about the rules of movement on asphalt, because there are speed limits. After assembling the resulting vehicle, it is necessary to check the operation of all mechanisms. If there are any problems, then it is better to fix them immediately and on the spot.

Made by the author for a special order. The future owner wished to make some kind of crossing of a regular UAZA with a gas-66 and add to this composition more wheels and a few gadgets for better off-road cross-country ability. The model of such an all-terrain vehicle has undeniable advantages due to the bridges, which are virtually indestructible even under the most terrible operating conditions. In addition, they have blocking and swapping, which is also very important.

A very controversial project, even in my far from technical point of view, but nevertheless it was born.

Consider the mechanisms and materials used in this all-terrain vehicle:
1) engine internal combustion left from the UAZ.

3) Front and rear axle from the same Gaz-66
4) The author used A-trans with dimensions of 1300 by 700 as wheels.

Let's consider in detail the most basic manipulations and improvements of the all-terrain vehicle.

First, you need to familiarize yourself with the frame of the structure, after all, two completely different machines, both in characteristics and in class, had to be combined into one indestructible composition on a new frame.

In order to better understand the device of the all-terrain vehicle, as well as understand the stability of the machine, you need to look at the location of the engine. After all, it is the all-terrain vehicle engine that carries the bulk of the entire structure.

For a comfortable ride on bumps and bumps, as well as for greater durability and reliability of the structure, it is necessary to reduce the load on the frame and axles, and this can only be achieved by installing a shock absorption system.

Unfortunately, the front spring mount in the photo is seen rather poorly, but best quality the author did not provide. I can only say that the author had problems regarding the difference in width, however, the solution was about the same as for the rear spring, so the mount looks almost the same.

As for the wheels, everything is fine. The selected rubber is probably only inferior in weight to the best tires from TREKOL, but thanks to these tires we can say that everything will be in order with the axles and they will last a long time. And because of the TREKOL, there is an increased load on the bridges, therefore, choosing reliability, the author decided to abandon them.

What are the advantages besides an interesting design and impressive appearance does this model all-terrain vehicle?

One of the author's good ideas was the decision to use side boxes, which can be seen on the sides of the frame, at the bottom. These side boxes are hollow inside, that is, they are filled with air. This was necessary so that the all-terrain vehicle could move not only on land, but also on water. That is, it is these boxes that provide the buoyancy of the all-terrain vehicle. Actually, thanks to this solution, thinner wheels could be used than TREKOL.

As already mentioned, the main feature of the all-terrain vehicle in reliable and non-kill bridges from Gaz-66, their excellent qualities (as well as the build quality) are proved by the fact that during the year of intensive operation of the all-terrain vehicle, no problems were found regarding the bridges of the all-terrain vehicle.

Many car enthusiasts who are fond of fishing or hunting, as well as those who live in the countryside, often think about how to increase the cross-country ability of their car. Many are interested in whether it is possible to turn an ordinary car into a cross-country vehicle with their own hands.

  • when it comes to driving on an asphalt surface, you must take into account that it wears out low pressure tires a lot. Therefore, frequent and long-term movement on asphalt surfaces is not recommended for all-terrain vehicles of this kind;

  • with speed, you also have to be careful. Low-pressure tires are not designed for high-speed movement - here the main task is to drive on off-road surfaces and overcome obstacles;

  • rubber for low pressure does not have a clear division into summer and winter options. For winter, such species are used that do not become tough at negative temperatures. This can negatively affect the passability of the vehicle;

All work on the manufacture of an all-terrain vehicle based on a UAZ vehicle can be divided into several conventional stages. Let's analyze them one by one:
