There are several rules when overtaking and cornering on a Nissan CVT. This type of transmission responds to increased engine speed. The most unfavorable mode for her is when the car starts off sharply with the wheels turned out in automatic mode transmission operation: the clutch abruptly connects the rear axle, and this creates an increased load on the transfer case. The rest of the nodes are quite reliable - with reasonable operation, of course.
  • When driving off-road, you can secure the transmission elements as much as possible with the following technique. We turn off the stabilization system and forcibly block the interaxle coupling. If the car is standing, then forcibly turn on the first virtual gear. In this case, it is more difficult to overload and overheat something.
  • Crosspieces cardan shaft break only after 100,000 km. They die most quickly on cars that are idle on the street for a long time: the connections acidify, this accelerates their wear.
  • The rear brake calipers are poorly positioned and poorly designed. Even during normal operation, a lot of dirt gets into the calipers, as a result, they become very sour. In general, CVT stepless gearboxes have proven to be reliable units even in Russian road and climatic conditions. However, "outbreaks" of massive malfunctions sometimes occur on selected models certain years of release. Sudden CVT breakdowns at low runs (20-70 thousand km) were encountered in Juke, X-Trail and the aforementioned Qashqai. And we can only advise the owners to change the oil in the CVT at least once every 60 thousand km (even if the manufacturer calls the variator maintenance-free), as well as regularly update the software from dealers when fresh factory "firmware" is released.
