This time we have collected tires for the test, which almost all manufacturers present as the most balanced in all characteristics. A very fresh model sets the highest price bar Continental PremiumContact 6 Cooked in Mexico. Another novelty - which is made (pay attention!) In Russia.

Whet your appetite

Without stopping after a ten-kilometer run (even a short stop will allow the tires and transmission elements to cool down, which will negatively affect the results), we proceed to the assessment. In the out-of-town mode (90 km / h), the leaders were five subjects - Continental, Cordiant, Firestone, Michelin and Toyo. The success of the Cordiant was especially surprising, since the previous model (the Comfort of the first release) was quite voracious. Skoda used the most gasoline on Viatti tires.

At 60 km / h city, the aforementioned five turned into the top three - only Firestone, Michelin and Toyo retained their leading positions. Viatti was insatiable here too.

Who is the noisiest in the world

We move to other roads, teeming with cracks, potholes and even holes. Here the tires are noisy, humming, shaking, transmitting jolts to the body and seats, and - some are stronger, others are weaker.

The experts gave the highest marks for acoustic comfort to the tires Continental, Cordiant, Hankook, Nokian and Nordman. Michelin tires also do not emit loud noises when rolling, however, they differ from the top five by a change in the tone of noise on surfaces of different quality - they are not so much melodious as they are discordant on patches made of dissimilar asphalt, traditional for Russian roads. This is why we have lowered the Michelin tire rating by half a point.

The noise record was set by Kumho. Noisy, booming rolling, sounding of the pavement and road irregularities. They also turned out to be the toughest, actively transmitting shocks and vibrations to the floor of the body, seat and controls. Itching is especially unpleasant on microroughnesses and rough asphalt. The best results in terms of smoothness were brought by Hankook and Cordiant: on them the Octavia rolls smoothly and comfortably.

Let's slip along the lane

On an unpaved 12% rise, we estimate the tire loyalty to unpaved roads. Driving uphill with “gas” and “without gas” and attempts to accelerate intensively allow us to find out which tires grip the ground well, to what extent and how sharply they contribute to the loss of traction during slipping. Traction control system, of course, turn it off.

Viatti is more confident than others on unpaved slopes. No wonder! Pay attention to - all checkers are finely chopped, as if M + S tires are intended only for country lane.

And more than others, Continental tires are prone to slipping and insufficient traction - we rated their "dirt" ability at four points. Do not leave hard roads!

The results are quite natural: it is impossible to make a tire that will be the best both on asphalt and on the ground.

On the brakes!

In the wet, Hankook beats everyone. Continental and Nokian breathe in the back of his head with the same stopping distances. In the lagging behind - Firestone, losing to the leader by almost seven (!) Meters. In the penultimate position - Viatti with a lag of 4.3 meters.

On dry asphalt Octavia is better only brakes on Michelin tires. The second result is shown by Continental, losing only 30 cm to the leader. The trailblazers in this exercise are the same, only now behind all Viatti, and in front of him is Firestone.

On wet pavement, the most stable performances are in Conti, Nokian and Kumho: the spread is no more than 20 cm. The maximum difference in the results obtained in different attempts was a little more than a meter - Firestone and Pirelli excelled. In dry conditions, Michelin provided the most stable braking, with only half a meter difference in six approaches. But Firestone, Nordman, Pirelli and Viatti showed the maximum spread - more than two meters.

On rearrangement

We perform this test to evaluate the behavior of the tires during extreme maneuvering. Skoda, moving at a constant speed in fourth (direct) gear, abruptly (at a distance of 12 meters) rebuilds into the adjacent lane. The tester starts the exercise with a low, obviously throughput speed and each time increases it by 1–2 km / h. In addition, he gives an expert assessment based on the recorded comments on the behavior of the car and the ability to drive it.

Skoda showed the highest speed (69.3 km / h) on wet asphalt on Nokian tires. And the most modest result (63.7 km / h) was given to it by Firestone.

Nokian tires retained their leadership, the speed maximum on them increased to 71.2 km / h. The Firestone remained the most modest, it could not rise above the “67.5 km / h” mark when performing an extreme maneuver.

And Skoda is most pleasant to drive on Nokian tires, both on dry asphalt and on wet ones. The testers noted clear reactions, adequate steering angles and sufficient information content. The balance of handling is close to neutral.

Firestone tires made me sweat on wet pavement. The low speed is due to the early onset of sliding, which translated into common language means insufficient grip. In addition, the almost complete lack of information content on the steering wheel does not allow you to select the required angles of rotation in order to make the car move along the desired trajectory.

On the dry surface, the same Firestone remained in the lagging behind in behavior, but already in company with Toyo. The Octavia's Firestone tires have such large steering angles and reaction delays that the driver has no time to turn the steering wheel to the required angle. The situation is complicated by the volatile nature - the car slides its muzzle outward at the entrance to the first corridor, demonstrating understeer, which, when the car stabilizes in the adjacent lane, turns into oversteer, forcing the Skoda to "take revenge with its tail."

On Toyo tires, the initial reactions are good, but as the speed increases, the Octavia starts to skid unexpectedly and is very difficult to cope with. At the same time, the steering wheel becomes so "empty", as if it was disconnected from the wheels.

We put in places

In thirteenth place in our ranking, with only 796 points and falling into the Weak Tires category. Disastrous by modern standards results in the nominations "Safety" and "Behavior". Strengths are the average level of comfort and high, on a par with Michelin-starred, fuel efficiency. Possible application - unhurried, accurate driving with the stabilization system always on.

In twelfth place - Viatti Strada Asimmetrico V ‑ 130... Only 835 total points put them in the "Mediocre tires" category. Weak braking, worse results in fuel efficiency, the comfort level is close to average. Surprisingly agreeable in handling. Suitable for leisurely driving on hard roads, including unpaved ones.

The tenth and eleventh places are divided by and. Despite the equal number of points scored, they are completely different in nature. “Koreans” are frankly failing in comfort, but in the “Safety” nomination they are ahead of Toyo and even the superior Cordiant and Nordman. "Japanese" are slightly better in behavior, moreover, they will delight the driver with high fuel efficiency, comparable to the Michelin one. Both are suitable for driving without fanaticism.

On the ninth line. Ay yes Taiwan! Maxxis is a fairly young company, but rapidly progressing. Premitra HP5 has bypassed more eminent Japanese and Korean rivals. These are not the most best tires for aggressive driving due to difficult behavior during extreme maneuvers. But suitable for everyday quiet driving, and will provide higher safety than those higher in the final rating Cordiant, Nordman and Dunlop. They are close to the middle peasants in terms of comfort and economy.

On the eighth step -. The new model has significantly added relative to the representative of the first generation. Now it lives up to its name and rightfully won the title of the most comfortable tire (albeit in company with Hankuk). Another achievement is that these tires are among the most economical at out-of-town speed. A noticeable disadvantage is difficult handling during extreme maneuvers on dry surfaces. These tires are not built for aggressive riding, but are suitable for everyday use.

Russian with 889 points prints out the group "Good tires". Strong middle peasant by all objective indicators, the only exception is "dry" braking, in which it gave a slight slack. But in the category "Behavior" competes with the tops,- Michelin and Hankook are even slightly inferior to him.

: The sixth place in the final standings and the closing position in the "Excellent tires" category is an undoubted success. In terms of performance and character, these tires are comparable to those of the Pirelli. For such indicators as handling, comfort and economy, they go head to head.

The fifth line in accordance with the brand's position in the top five world tire manufacturers is Pirelli with model Cinturato P1 Verde... A few years ago, tires under the Pirelli brand stood out for their driving inclinations. Now Nokian has taken the palm in terms of handling, but Pirelli did not give up the leadership in directional stability. And therefore it best long distance tires- if you can come to terms with the increased noise level in the cabin and the rigidity of the course.

Russian tires are symbolically located on the line corresponding to the serial number of the model. Leadership ambition is underpinned by better results in fuel economy as well as braking on dry asphalt. And in wet braking - only the fifth result, which is contrary to the modern trend. After all, nowadays almost all tire workers try to improve braking on wet surfaces as much as possible, since it is considered to be the most dangerous. Still, the tires are great, no limits.

An article on how and which tires are best to buy: 10 important tips and tricks for the buyer. At the end of the article - a video on how to choose tires and what you need to know when buying them.

The content of the article:

The variety of manufacturers and brands of tires can be confusing for any buyer, especially if this is the first time this important component is purchased for a car.

The situation is aggravated by the fact that the tires differ not only in the name of the manufacturer - they are really very different. How to avoid mistakes and make the right purchase? Let's figure it out.

A wealth of choice

Tires are very diverse in their purpose. For driving in a dynamic sporty style - some, for measured movement - others. Moreover, when choosing tires, you need to take into account the peculiarities of the weather in the area where the car will be used.

Car tires also differ according to the season: there are tires for winter and for summer, and there is also a budget all-season option.

Summer tires can be used at temperatures above plus five degrees. They fall into the following categories:
  • tires of universal type;
  • tires for driving on roads;
  • tires for driving on mud and rough terrain.
Universal tires marked A / T. They perform well on clean asphalt and mud. The disadvantages are driving noise, which is higher than in the case of asphalt tires, and less stability on urban asphalt.

Road tires- the most common option. Marking - Н / Т, Н / Р. They are distinguished by low noise, high grip, but it is better not to use them in mud and off-road.

Mud tires more suitable for off-road use. Their marking is M / T. On a clean road, they are noisy, but they cope well with mud and rough terrain.

Winter tires also have their own categories, depending on what type of winter the motorist is looking for:

  • scandinavian studded;
  • arctic;
  • European.
Scandinavian studded tires designed for ice. On "bare" asphalt, such tires make noise, and it is not recommended to develop high speed on them, so that the spikes do not fly out.

Arctic tires, or, as they are also called, "Velcro", are focused on harsh winter conditions, low temperatures. The treads of such tires are distinguished by a very dense pattern, their rubber is soft, which retains its properties well at low temperatures.

European tires designed for winter in a mild European climate (hence their name), in which precipitation in the form of rain and sleet prevails. They have a well thought out drainage system, but on an icy or snowy road, tires of this type are not the most convenient option.

All season tires good for short distances, low vehicle loads. They are inexpensive, but they do not last long. The only plus is the ability to use them at any time of the year.

In addition to the above classification, tires are also distinguished:

  • low-profile - convenient for flat roads in the city, but unsuitable for off-road;
  • Run Flаt tires - for cars with tire pressure monitoring, allowing you to drive up to 150 km even on punctured tires;
  • off-road - for rough terrain and clay trails.
Also, tires are distinguished by the pattern. He might be:
  • symmetrical directional - for high-speed sport driving resistant on wet roads;
  • symmetrical non-directional - inexpensive, most common for the city, but not allowing high speed in winter;
  • asymmetric directional - the most expensive option, which makes it possible to move at good speed along wet slopes but difficult to install;
  • asymmetric non-directional - a popular choice for driving on wet roads, it has good handling.

As you can see from the above classifications, the abundance of brands and varieties of tires can really be confusing. Therefore, when buying, it is better to use a number of useful tips.

1. Choose the right time of purchase

It is best to plan the purchase of tires in advance - this is an opportunity not only to thoughtfully approach the choice, but also to save significant funds.

It is most profitable to buy tires during the off-season, from January to March or from May to September. It was at this time that a lower activity of customers was observed in shops and at the tire service: everyone had already changed their shoes, the queues disappeared, discounts on tires appeared in stores.

The time is also right when manufacturers change their product lines. During this period, stores strive to get rid of previous models as quickly as possible, doing this with the help of large discounts. Sometimes the discount can be up to half the original tire price.

Finally, it is better to purchase tires in advance for the simple reason that with a “burning” purchase in stores, there may simply not be the required model and brand, and then you will have to take something else, and even at exorbitant prices.

2. Analyze opinions and reviews

Having stopped your choice on any brand of tires, it will be useful to get acquainted with the reviews of motorists. And here there is one important nuance: the most valuable will be the reviews of those motorists whose tires have served no less than a quarter of the declared resource.

That is, if a rubber has a declared maximum mileage of 80 thousand kilometers, the reviews of drivers who have had such tires “run” at least 20 thousand kilometers will be interesting and informative.

Any tires will be perfect as long as they are new. But statistics indicate that most of the problems with rubber arise when its resource is depleted by a quarter or more. At this time, there may be problems with balancing, uneven abrasion, aquaplaning, swelling on the rubber, and noise when driving.

One more important point- the make of the car on which the tires are installed. Feedback from owners of cars of the same brand will be most useful for the buyer. The modern range has a wide range of tires that can be fitted to almost any type of passenger car, from sports coupes to SUVs.

But on different types of cars, such tires behave differently, so it is important to know what it is like when operating on a car of a specific weight and power.

3. Average cost is not an indicator of durability

This advice is based on observations made in recent years. Unfortunately, even manufacturers of high-quality tires have recently somewhat "lowered the bar", and now the concept of "the most expensive rubber" is not identical with the concept of "the most durable".

Famous brand manufacturers focus on the performance of their products, not their durability. If earlier buying expensive rubber meant buying it for a long time, today the emphasis has shifted: expensive tires are excellent characteristics that correspond to the declared data in the product passport, but at the same time such tires are not at all obliged to serve for a long time.

4. Features of using the car

When choosing the type of tires, it is important to take into account the real conditions in which the car is operated.

With constant operation of the car in the city cycle and traffic jams, it makes no sense to buy tires designed for the dynamic food of a sports car - with its excellent appearance and excellent characteristics such tires will “kill” in traffic jams very quickly.

Rubber is a material that changes over time. Even the best quality tires degrade over the years. Therefore, it is best to purchase newly manufactured products.

The shelf life of rubber largely depends on the conditions in which it is stored before being sold and installed on a car. You should be aware that rubber tires do not tolerate ultraviolet light, sunlight, and storage conditions in store warehouses can be very, very different. Therefore, there is only one way out - to try to purchase tires that were stored there for a minimum time.

The tire production date can be seen on the side wall. Tires are marked with the year and week of manufacture (four-digit DOT code).

Tires are something that you should never buy used. If a car is purchased, there should be enough funds for its tires, otherwise it is not worth buying it at all. If other components can still be purchased used, then this is unacceptable with tires.

The reason for this strict rule is that used tires are very difficult to assess. The inner cord of the tire can be damaged, and this problem "crawls out" only when air is supplied to the tire under pressure. Used tires, as a rule, are sold without wheels, and you won't be able to see the problem.

It's fair to say that good used tires also exist, but this is more the exception than the rule.

7. Don't pay too much attention to the brand.

Modern production is such that not a single, even the most famous brand, insures the consumer against low quality.

Even Nokian and Michelin have both excellent and not the best tires in their lineup. Therefore, you should not become an ardent fan of the brand, not paying attention to the features of various models.

8. Choice in the store

The chosen model must be carefully examined. Important characteristic- the sidewall of the tire. If it is thin, the car can get additional instability on the track. And an excessively soft wall will be unnecessarily vulnerable to lateral impacts on the tire.

A shallow tread is, of course, beautiful, but it should be remembered that after 15 thousand kilometers, many tread elements disappear, and with them the main characteristics of the tread.

9. The choice of tires depends on the intensity of car exploitation.

If a driver operates a car with a low intensity, he should not buy tires that have a declared large resource. The reason for this warning is that rubber loses its properties over the years. Therefore, it may turn out that a lot of money has been paid for the protectors, the resource has not yet been developed, and the quality is already beginning to deteriorate rapidly.

If the annual mileage is low, it is better to buy cheaper tires., which "cope" with the mileage, but during this time will not have time to lose the properties of the material.

Living in regions with severe winters requires a special approach to the choice of "winter" tires. You should not try to save money by purchasing "all-season" tires: such savings can be expensive. All-season tires are only good for warm climates without snow and ice, and they require frequent replacement.

Tire selection is a question not to be approached lightly, because not only ride comfort, but also safety on the road depends on how well the protectors are selected.

* Review of the best according to the editors of the site. On the selection criteria. This material is subjective, does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.

One of the most important elements of a car that affects driving safety is the tires. Choosing the right car rubber not only has a positive effect on driving safety. Driving comfort is improved, fuel consumption is reduced and the service interval is extended. There is an abundance of tires in the domestic car market. All well-known tire concerns have arranged product supplies to Russia. The rich assortment makes it difficult to choose; the recommendations of our experts will come to the aid of motorists.

How to choose the right car tires

Landing diameter. Experts advise starting the selection of tires with the landing diameter. It must match the diameter wheel rim on which the bus will be mounted. In the marking, this figure is indicated in inches after the letter R. The most popular wheel rim bore diameters in cars are in the R13-R17 range.

Seasonality. Seasonality becomes the next important tire parameter. The motorist is offered summer, winter and all-season tires. Experts believe that it is best to have a set of winter and summer tires, although the purchase of an all-season is more economically profitable. A snowflake or a combination of letters M and S (M + S, M.S) must be present in the designation of winter tires.

Tread pattern. Some users do not focus on the type of tread, which can lead to minor problems later. According to the structure of the pattern, a symmetrical and asymmetrical protector is distinguished, moreover, it can be directional or non-directional. The most popular because of the affordable price are symmetrical non-directional tires. But if you start from the technical parameters, then it is better to give preference to a directional protector. This type of tire is best at draining water out of the contact patch. The asymmetric tread offers excellent water drainage and excellent directional stability. However, you can rearrange wheels with an asymmetric directional pattern only on one side of the car (front to back or vice versa).

Tire width. The first numerical index in the marking indicates the width of the tire in millimeters. For each wheel rim, it is allowed to install several standard sizes. It is important to consider the following points here.

  1. The wide tire forms a large area of contact with the road surface. Consequently, the grip of the wider tires will be better.
  2. But narrow modifications gain in weight, which has a positive effect on fuel consumption.
  3. The narrower the tire, the less it undergoes aquaplaning. In addition, the narrow tire has better flotation when driving on snowy roads.

Profile height. One of the most confusing characteristics of a car tire is its section height. It is indicated in the marking after the "/" sign. The number indicates the ratio of the profile height (in mm) to the width (in mm), expressed as a percentage. For example, in marking 185/70, the tire width is 185 mm, and to calculate the profile height in mm, you need to divide 185 by 100 and multiply by 70. You get 129.5 mm.

  1. High profile tires provide the driver with maximum ride comfort and are puncture resistant.
  2. Low profile tires provide excellent handling. These models are worth buying if you often have to travel on good paved roads.
  3. The wider the tire width (with the same diameter and profile height), the greater the height in mm.

Load index... Each tire has a maximum load limit. It is indicated in the marking with a number that follows the bore diameter. To find out permissible load in kilograms, you will have to look into a special translation table. For example, the number 88 indicates a maximum load of 560 kg.

Speed index. Tires are limited in speed mode... To designate this parameter, a letter classification is adopted. It will also be possible to convert to traditional km / h using the table. So, the letter H corresponds to maximum speed 210 km / h

We have selected 13 of the best car tire brands for our review. All of them sell their products at Russian market... When allocating seats, the opinion of the expert community and the reviews of domestic motorists were taken into account.

The French Michelin concern boasts a glorious hundred-year history. Since the founding of the brand, employees have paid the utmost attention to research work. For example, Michelin is considered to be the first manufacturer of pneumatic wheels. And today, designers, together with engineers and chemists, are trying to implement new ideas. One of them is the replacement of carbon black with silicon. EverGrip technology has increased the wear resistance of the tire, while maintaining its basic parameters. The brand's products are designed for both passenger cars and commercial and freight vehicles, special equipment and electric cars.

Experts appreciated the exploration efforts of the manufacturer, giving him the laurels of the winner of our rating. Users are only dissatisfied with the high price of tires.

disadvantages

  • tires are afraid of strong bumps.

The Italian car tire manufacturer Pirelli has focused on the production of products for racing cars. And the company has succeeded in this. The company was founded in 1872 when the young Giovani Pirelli acquired a small Milan rubber factory. The brand is currently owned by the Chinese chemical concern ChemChina, although the head office remains in Milan. The manufacturer is not limited to tire products for racing cars, the range includes tires for ordinary cars, motorcycles and bicycles. The experts paid attention to this, giving the brand a prize in our rating.

Users noticed only one flaw in Pirelli tires... They are not sufficiently resistant to strong impacts on potholes, which is why "hernias" appear.

The tires of the South Korean company Hankook are in steady demand among Russian motorists. This brand appeared in 1941, having gone the hard way from a small enterprise to an international concern. Most recently (2017), a plant was inaugurated in the American city of Tennessee. But the manufacturer not only builds production sites; great attention is paid to research work. Experts highlight several advantages of South Korean rubber, due to which the brand occupies a leading position in the world. These are wear resistance, elasticity and durability.

Domestic car owners appreciate the availability of tires with decent quality. Bad behavior on the wet road is often mentioned as a disadvantage, which is why the brand does not make it to the top three of our ranking.

Dignity

disadvantages

  • tires do not behave well on wet roads.

The German concern Continental occupies a leading position in the world tire market. The annual production volume amazes even experts, more than 90 million tires leave the conveyors of production sites. The brand is the official supplier of tires to the largest car factories in Germany, the USA and Japan. The manufacturer constantly tests and tests its products, comes up with new designs. Therefore, Continental tires outperform their competitors in such categories as braking distances and handling in different road conditions.

Russian motorists praise German rubber for its quietness, high quality, and excellent grip on the road. The main disadvantage that affected the position in the rating is the high price.

Dignity

  • German quality;
  • innovativeness of developments;
  • excellent grip;
  • noiselessness.

disadvantages

  • high price.

The northern regions are home to the Finnish tire company Nokian. This oldest tire manufacturer in Europe started its activity in 1898. The company created the first in the world winter tire for trucks. The plant has been operating in Russia since 2005, which made it possible to reduce the price of premium tires. About 14 million tires of the highest quality come off the factory conveyors annually. According to the German magazine Focus Money, the Finnish brand produced the best car tire in 2018. Experts point out such strengths of the manufacturer as good cross-country ability and stability on slippery and wet roads.

Car owners are pleased with the low noise level, good stability, and ease of balancing. The sixth place in the ranking is due to the high price and fragility.

Dignity

  • high quality;
  • low noise;
  • stability on slippery and wet roads;
  • softness.

disadvantages

  • fragility.

It is symbolic that Japanese company one of the seven most large manufacturers tires, occupying the same seventh position in our rating. The company was founded in 1917 through the merger of Japanese and American enterprises. The brand got its name in honor of the city where the cooperation agreement was signed. The first tires were produced only in 1930, and it was this direction that became a priority for the company. The brand tests its products at sports competitions. As a result of tests, tires are supplied to the conveyors of auto giants such as Mercedes benz, Porsche and Toyota.

Russian car owners appreciate Japanese tires for their good grip, softness, and optimal price-quality ratio. The disadvantages include the loss of thorns and thin sidewalls.

Random review from Oleg:

I liked the grip of these tires. Excellent road holding on dry and wet asphalt. Track sensitivity is minimal. I was also surprised by the durability - after 6 years of operation, the tread is completely intact, the rubber has no cracks.

These tires are part of the Hakka range. Designed for harsh Russian weather conditions. Tires provide confident handling in wet and dry weather. Reliable grip on the road surface is achieved through the use of new technologies, in particular, Dry Touch sipes.

At 80 km / h on wet roads, the braking distance of these tires is one meter shorter than that of conventional tires. Tires can be used from early spring to late autumn.

Tires have low rolling resistance, which means more low consumption fuel. The rubber contains pine oil, which improves heat resistance.

The developers of the design and tread structure took into account the behavior of the car at high speeds. The model is presented with different speed indexes and shows excellent performance in extreme conditions

  • High stability on wet roads;
  • The shortest braking distance;
  • Confident controllability;
  • Soft, does not become "oaky" at sub-zero temperatures;
  • Weak sidewalls;
  • Harsh when driving (not critical);
  • Wear out quickly on the primer.

Comment from Ivan:

I am completely satisfied with these tires, the tires exceeded all expectations. It is especially worth noting the resistance to aquaplaning, they hardly notice rutting, they row well on light mud.

The eighth place of our top summer tires for 2019 is rubber, which uses the unique ActiveBraking technology, which contributes to improved tire grip and shorter braking distances. These tires performed excellently on wet road surfaces with an 8% reduction in braking distances.

Another technology used in the production of tires is WearControl, thanks to which low rolling resistance and more economical fuel consumption have been achieved.

Many car owners speak positively about this rubber and especially note the increased ride comfort, rut resistance, low noise level and a soft ride.

  • Confident car control;
  • Short braking distance;
  • Economical fuel consumption;
  • Low noise level while driving;
  • Reliable traction.
  • Hum during sudden braking;
  • Not resistant to strong blows (hernia);
  • Average indicators of wear resistance.

Review from Arcadia:

Nice summer tires for the money. After the purchase, I specially went out in rainy weather to test a little - I made sure that I had not spent the money in vain. The car behaves confidently, did not notice aquaplaning, it passes through the puddles at a speed of two times. By the way, she is not afraid of temperature changes - at minus 9 degrees she did not feel cold. If you are not sure which summer tires are best for the budget segment, then take a look at Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance.

These tires are designed for both executive and middle class cars. The tires are manufactured using technologies to improve wet and dry behavior and improve cornering. It is also worth noting the excellent grip, quiet passage of joints on bridges, stability in a rut, confident handling.

The tires have exceptional grip and a high level of safety while driving. A key feature is also considered to be more economical fuel consumption when driving on this rubber.

  • Low noise level;
  • Excellent grip on the road surface;
  • More economical fuel consumption;
  • High resistance to aquaplaning;
  • Wear resistance.
  • When starting and braking, the grip is “lame”;
  • The price is high.

I put it instead of the factory ones. I noticed that the turns are now much more "fun". It behaves confidently in the rain at a reasonable speed. Strong, side cut resistant.

A relatively new model with improved flotation, aquaplaning resistance, increased safety and comfort. The sidewalls of the tires have a special rubber coating that effectively resists shock and vibration.

The unique tread structure increases the drainage of water from the longitudinal grooves. Tires Nokian Hakka Green 2 is perfectly adapted for driving in changeable weather conditions and is optimally suited for Russian roads. In addition, the composition of the material uses rapeseed oil, pine oil, small particles of soot, which makes the rubber environmentally friendly and easily adaptable to the individual driving style, temperature, road surface.

  • Excellent handling;
  • Holds well both dry and wet roads;
  • Soft, does not lose its properties with temperature drops;
  • Economical fuel consumption;
  • Smooth ride, comfortable ride;
  • Low noise level;
  • Reasonable price.
  • Low wear resistance;
  • Weak sidewall.

Review from Oleg:
I have been using tires for a long time, which I liked:

  • Excellent road holding at speeds up to 150 km / h (no longer accelerated);
  • There is a wear indicator;
  • Optimal price / quality ratio;
  • In wet weather, driving at a height;

Of the minuses, I will single out only one - wear and tear. Although if you do not drive with trains, then it will be enough for 3-4 seasons, maybe more.

Top summer tires continue with time-tested tires. Ideal for both everyday and long journeys. Designed for use in regions with variable weather. In the production of tires, the NanoPro-Tech technology is used, thanks to which the grip on the road becomes reliable, and maneuvers are as safe as possible.

The cords of the treads are radially positioned, thereby increasing the strength of the tire structure. Other advantages of tires are short braking distances even on wet roads and reduced rolling resistance.

  • Optimal price;
  • Balanced perfectly;
  • Soft;
  • Predictable behavior on wet roads;
  • Reliable and durable;
  • Holds well when cornering and braking.
  • Noisy, but in moderation.

Review from Rinat:
Departure on it for 5 seasons, normal flight. Sometimes it was necessary to fish deep holes, but no damage. I can say with confidence that the rubber really works. When cornering, the car behaves confidently, even a hint of aquaplaning was not noticed in the rain (I don't drive much). Durable and have excellent traction.

During the development of these tires, great attention was paid to such indicators as safety, comfortable and confident handling, reduced fuel consumption, and improved grip on the road.

Experts especially commend the tire durability, which has been achieved thanks to the use of IronFlex technology. As a result, the consumer has received wear-resistant tires that are resistant to uneven road surfaces.

The advantages of this rubber should also include confident handling, accurate course following, reduced fuel consumption for any driving style. The disadvantages include weak braking performance on dry asphalt.

Review from Pavel:

Used all last year's season. What I didn’t like was a bit noisy, but this is an individual indicator. I drove from early spring, when the temperature dropped to -3, -5 degrees, the tires did not get stiff, remained soft. Another plus is good grip. Otherwise, everything is fine, if it were not for the noise, which by the way dies down when outside from +15 degrees, I would give these tires the highest mark.

These tires are specially designed for use in difficult road and weather conditions. In Russia, these tires have become very popular, as they provide comfortable and confident driving, reliable grip on the road, and high directional stability.

The tread pattern has a speed index W (270 km / h), so the rubber does not lose its performance properties even at high speeds. The tread has a multi-layer construction and is made with Cool Zone technology, as a result of which the maximum response to the steering wheel is achieved, especially when cornering.

The tread grooves are positioned to effectively drain moisture from under the wheels and to minimize the risk of aquaplaning. Car owners also note more comfortable driving on these tires and a minimal noise level while driving.

Review from Marat:

All of us, before choosing tires, are interested in what summer tires are the best. I also re-read a bunch of forums and reviews, in the end I made right choice- bought tires Nokian Nordman SZ. I want to say that the tires are of very high quality, are resistant to damage, behave very well both on the track and on the dirt road. Skated the season, flew into the pits, drove along the rut, dirt roads, in the mud - everywhere she showed herself on the good side. Recommend.

Top 10 summer tires are topped by tires that have a number of advantages and have received thousands of reviews from car owners around the world. The advantages include excellent braking performance on a wet and dry road surface, minimal rolling resistance, confident handling and high cross-country ability.

When developing tires, much attention was paid to such a parameter as adhesion to the road surface. To this end, a unique tread pattern has been created that improves grip, especially when cornering.

Acoustic performance is equally important. In order to reduce noise, special elements were introduced into the protector that bridge the blocks, due to this, most of the noise is suppressed. The projector is designed so that water is removed from the contact patch as quickly as possible to prevent aquaplaning.

Foreword

It so happened that on our site there were two articles of similar topics. Therefore, we decided to combine these two articles into one.

Article 1. Choosing tires for the summer

Changing winter tires to summer models is a must for every car. This is due to basic safety rules and correct
operation of the machine. But how to choose the right summer tires for Russian roads and what parameters should you focus on in the first place? To solve these issues, it is necessary to understand in detail the classification and consider the characteristics of popular tire models.

How to choose tires for your car for the summer?

The defining parameters of the choice are the brand of the car, its weight and operating conditions. For the 2016 summer season, manufacturers offer a number of new models and time-tested classic tire options.

The main differences between winter and summer models are the types of protectors. They determine the quality of tire adhesion to the road surface and reduce the influence of external factors - moisture, dust, sand, gravel, etc. Therefore, before deciding which tires are best to choose, you should study the types of treads:

The next group of factors is the technical qualities of summer tires. They indicate the maximum load on the structure, as well as speed limits:

In addition to these indicators, it is necessary to pay attention to additional designations on tires and be able to read full markings. Additionally, it is recommended to choose models that are wider than those of the winter options.

The best summer tires of 2016, their rating. We draw conclusions from the magazine "Behind the wheel"

The official publication of the rating of tires for passenger cars by the magazine "Za Rulem" in professional circles caused a lot of confusion. This is due to the fact that the test results are distorted by the known brand"Nokian". The official winner according to the results of the domestic publication was the model "Nokian Hakka Green 2". But is it really so?

To compare the test results, you can refer to similar foreign publications - Autonavigator, ADAC, AutoBild, Vi Bilagare. Almost all of them gave preference to other manufacturers. The difference between the choices is within the margin of error.

Nokian Hakka Green 2

These tires are designed to fit on mid-size and small cars. In addition to preventing the effect of aquaplaning, it has a positive effect on reducing fuel consumption.

However, despite positive reviews domestic publications, Finnish experts from Vi Bilagare identified it only the penultimate place in their ranking. This is mainly due to a decrease in operational and technical qualities models when tested on a dry surface.

Continental ContiPremiumContact 5

This model is the flagship of the company. In the process of its development, the latest technological innovations were used. In particular, macroblocks, due to which the contact patch of the tire with the road is significantly increased.

As a result of the tests, the tires performed well on dry asphalt, forming a minimum braking distance. On the highway, the results were no worse. We lost ground a bit during the tests on wet surfaces. As a result: Vi Bilagare - 1st place; ADAC - 2nd. In the rating of the magazine "Za Rulem" this model of summer tires of the 2016 season only got the 6th position.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance

The tires have perfect grip on wet surfaces. This is facilitated by the unique shape of the tread. Active braking technology, pioneered in this tire manufacturer's tires, achieves better results during the tests.

Edition tests: Vi Bilagare - 2nd line; Hungarian Autonavigator gave 1st place to tires. The magazine "Za Rulem" ranked them in the 2nd position of its rating.

As can be seen from the test results, the three leaders in world rankings differ from the published selection of summer tires for 2016 by the magazine "Za Rulem". This year, companies that specialize in the development and production of racing tires took the last positions in the TOPs. Among them are well-known brands - Yokoham Toyo.

What are the best tires to buy for the summer? Feedback from specialists 2016

Despite the authority of the described publications, summer tires for Russian roads must be chosen according to one more criterion - expert reviews. They will allow you to create an objective opinion about the quality and technical parameters of the model.

About Nokian Hakka Green 2

“The Nokian Hakka Green 2 came out just this year. In the previous version, I drove about 5000 km. The main problem there was a weak grip on the grass, which is a priority for Russian roads in the summer (or rather, their absence). Apparently, the manufacturer decided to take this nuance into account.

The new summer tires for 2016 have grousers. They are located in the lateral and central areas. A significant drawback from the previous model was removed in the design - dividing partitions in the center. They almost completely neutralized the expected effect of the lugs. This issue has now been resolved. But more truthful results should be expected at least by the middle of summer. "

Evgeniy, Moscow, 32 years old

“I decided to buy the Nokian Hakka Green 2 as summer tires. First I got acquainted with the test results from Za Rulem. After installation, they were tested in spring conditions. At first glance, the tires behave well - the braking distance has decreased, and you feel confident when cornering. Side hooks allow you to overcome slush, do not allow you to get stuck in the mud.

The only negative point is the relatively high noise level. But it is felt only when driving onto a dirt road. Most likely, it is associated with the tread pattern. But this is my subjective opinion. "

Roman, Kaluga, 28 years old

About Continental ContiPremiumContact 5

“I put a Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 on my Lancer 6. First impressions - summer tires are very quiet. They respond well to bends. When driving through puddles at 80 km / h, the aquaplaning effect was not observed. I tried to accelerate to 100 km / h - the tires are helped by ABS. As for the wear, I can not say anything yet - the mileage is too low.

Feel confident in a rut. When entering a 90-degree turn at speed, skidding was not observed at all, they did not even squeak. "

Sergey, St. Petersburg, 38 years old

“Summer tires just fly away: yes, they are expensive, but the workmanship and reliability of the grip are at the highest level. I noticed that they are practically silent, they behave perfectly on a wet track.

However, after checking the emergency braking from 140 km / h to 0, I observed slight abrasions on the central part. I hope it will not have a big impact on further exploitation. "

Vladimir, Stavropol, 30 years old

About Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance

“Our company has purchased Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tires for service cars - Opel 'Vivaro'. Despite the soft surface, the grip is good and the noise is minimal. Have a positive effect on saving gasoline. On one of the cars, after 2000 runs, two small dimples appeared on the side of the tread. So far nothing has been done with them.

I was especially pleased with the braking distance. I had to make an emergency stop, as the tires in combination with ABS showed a good result "

Vitaly, Vladivostok, 27 years old

“Overall, the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance models are rated 4.5 out of 5. They ride well on wet and dry asphalt and are durable. I tried to ride on grass and ground - I'm happy with the result. During the season, not a single "bump" was "caught", although I often traveled and not quite on the roads.

The disadvantage is that the noise level rises over time. And this was noted not only by me. "

Boris, Astrakhan. 42 years

Article 2. Which summer tires are best?

When to change your car for summer tires in 2016?

This question is relevant every year. But it will not be superfluous to analyze the details of the answer to this question, and for someone, perhaps, new facts will be discovered that will spill
light on the problem. Go! When to change tires for summer tires in 2016?

So, firstly, it is necessary to take into account the geographical location of the region. On the territory of the Russian Federation, winter comes unevenly, which means that you need to follow the forecasts of weather conditions.

Secondly, it is important to consider your travel geography. If you drive in the general traffic through traffic jams and through central highways, there is every chance that the asphalt in those places is dry and summer tires will be in place here, as well as Velcro. If your trips are impossible to predict and plan - do not rush to change your vehicle. In the courtyards, puddles are often covered with an ice crust; certain sections of the road outside the city can also sin the same.

In addition, do not forget the main thing - it is better to change the rubber after the moment when the temperature of +5 degrees will be stable for several nights. It is with her that puddles remain puddles, and the properties of adhesion of summer rubber to the road are maximized.

Can you ride summer tires in winter?

After the past 2015, the answer to this question has become unambiguous. It is forbidden to ride on tires that do not correspond to the season of the season. It is important to note that, taking into account the peculiarities of the weather conditions in certain regions of Russia, the traffic police may increase the terms of using winter tires. It is unambiguously clear that changing shoes after the end of the calendar winter on March 1 is not worth it.

But, on the other hand, there is no direct punishment for this offense. After all, they will definitely be fined only for tires with a low residual tread height or the presence different tires on one axis. And for using a car with summer tires in winter, a fine can be charged in the amount of 500 rubles. And also the inspector has the right to issue a warning. It all depends on the human factor.

As a result, we get a contradictory situation - if in winter you ride on summer tires with a tread depth that is adjusted to the norms for this type of car, the inspector will confirm this fact, but he will not write out a fine for summer tires in winter 2016.

However, the situation at the legislative level can change at any time.
Considering driving a car on summer tires in winter period, it is worth remembering that this is dangerous. This is especially true for drivers with little experience in driving a vehicle. Also in an emergency, except for yourself and your vehicle you can harm other road users as well. Therefore, change the shoes of the car on time with tires that are in good condition, and do not skimp on safety.

When the issues related to the operation of summer tires have become resolved, it is necessary to move on to the selection of the tires themselves.

Summer tires rating 2015 - 2016 published by the magazine "Za Rulem"

This publication presents tire models from the most popular manufacturers - Kama Euro and Cordiant, to top models from world firms - Michelin and Pirelli. Also on display were models from Goodyear, Nokian, Hankook, Continental, Goodyear, Toyo and Bridgerstone.

So, let's start looking at the main indicators. Let's start from the end, namely with the model Kama Euro 129.

The rubber was really created taking into account the roads in Russia - strong and with increased wear resistance. Hence, there are positive results when passing the track and a confident exit from there. But only the transition to a good asphalt pavement deteriorates the results. Excessive noise appears, with sharp maneuvers in emergency situations it does not behave in the best way. Hence the low score and the last place in the rating.

The only indisputable advantage that Kama Euro manages to keep is its pricing policy. A set of 4 tires is the most affordable of all those presented on the test.

Cordiant Sport 3- the next instance in this rating. The pricing policy of this manufacturer is close to the most affordable. Depending on the place of sale, prices are on par with Kama. This model is aimed at driving on an asphalt surface, which is additionally indicated to us by the Sport prefix and the appearance of the tread. This implies as many as two negative moments- pebbles often remain in the tread and add unpleasant sounds in motion, and when driving off-road, it is easy to sit down even in the sand. According to the experts "Za Rulem", this is an example of an affordable model that does not surprise with its characteristics and is suitable for a measured movement of the average car owner.

Bridgestone Ecopia EP200
Is one of the most common models in the variety of the great tire manufacturer. By the way, they are produced in Thailand. During their tests on test cars, an increased fuel consumption was noticed, as well as low adhesion properties during sharp maneuvers in an emergency, both on dry and wet asphalt. Otherwise, when operating these tires in urban areas without extreme loads, this is the most optimal ratio of price and balanced performance.

Toyo Proxes CF2
... Test drivers with this particular model have noted reduced fuel consumption. In addition, this is the most affordable copy with the inscription "Made in Japan". Otherwise, it shows excellent results on asphalt surfaces, but absolutely useless in off-road conditions and even sand.

Nokian nordman sx
became a sensation in the price-quality category. The model shows excellent handling and lack of noise, as well as the absence of increased fuel consumption. There are practically no obvious flaws.

Hankook Ventus Prime 2... It was this instance that rediscovered the driver's properties of the car and was the first to please in all parameters of handling and comfort. Only the price can really upset, and also their off-road operation, judging by the reviews of the owners, often led to damage.

Michelin primacy 3 opens the four winners. The model will delight you with precise handling, regardless of whether it is wet or dry asphalt on the road, as well as on all other points, including the absence of noise, reduced fuel consumption and ride comfort.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance- the model of the German tire manufacturer, which showed the best handling on wet pavement (and even the leader of the test). And if you move the car on these tires on dry asphalt - there is something to worry about. The coupling properties are clearly out of order here. But all this can manifest itself only in extreme situations. With quiet driving in city traffic, you will get comfort for a very affordable price.

Nokian hakka blue
- the softest rubber that has shown balanced performance and comfort on all surfaces. Surprisingly, it combines excellent handling on all asphalt options.

And finally, the model of the Italian tire industry leader became the undisputed leader - Pirelli Cinturato P7... The model stands out for all test indicators, as well as for individual sellers it can please with a price tag.

Which summer tires are the best according to reviews?

By asking this question, a slightly different rating is drawn, in contrast to what is obtained from the testers of the magazine "Za Rulem".

Almost unanimously all tire owners Nordman SX note their excellent performance when combined with affordable price... Perhaps the latter factor is achieved by the transfer of its production to the territory of Russia.

  • “Used 195/65 / R15. Due to the presence of longitudinal grooves, they resist aquaplaning without any problems. Not a single hernia for 30,000 km, where I caught 3 pieces on Barum. And even quieter are Kordiant and Barum Brilliantis - they were the ones before this model. When driving smoothly, first of all, on the highway, if judged by the wear indicator, it was erased by half. I am glad." Andrey

  • “I left for two seasons, I am satisfied with the tires! According to the rating in the magazine "Za Rulem", they are the ones who occupy the 1st place in the price-quality group, which is why they took them. Simply put, I advise! Cheaper and with the best characteristics find nothing! " Seryoga

  • “Unmatched rubber! I chose between her and the Chinese brand. As already understood, I preferred it, tk. psychologically not ready to trust Chinese brands. Rubber has shown itself in a year, be healthy - it cuts water at once, in turns on wet asphalt 100-120 km / h - easily (I'm afraid faster), in a straight line 160 - it keeps the road. " Vovchik

  • “Good road holding! In the rain, I have never felt avkaplaning, even when on the highway from a hill I drove into a huge kalyuzha at 120 km / h! Strong, I thought a couple of times that I would catch a hernia - but no, it survived. At the start, it hooks perfectly. We must try to get the sound of screeching! And turns are unusually confident, even when loading a car of 4 people + luggage. " Arthur

Also model from Michelin car owners liked it. Unfortunately, the price tag is not democratic for them, but the tires will please with performance characteristics.

Here are the words of the real owners of the Michelin Primacy 3:

  • “This rubber is quieter and softer than any Bridgestone and even softer than the Pilot. Hence the grip is different, and the inhibition. But all this will show up on the track. Nice business in the city and on the highway! Everything with her - handling, acoustic and other comfort! At first, the braking was not enough, but then I honed this habit. I recently put wheels with this rubber for the third season. " Sanyok

  • “Rubber justifies the cost on all counts. For the sake of experiment, I wanted to put the wheels on a smaller diameter in order to achieve comfort and put rubber with a large profile. As a result, this Michelin was bought for R16 wheels. Glad like an elephant! The tires have proven themselves brilliantly in all conditions! Both in the city and outside the city, in places where no one has seen asphalt, the car drives very gently! The suspension tolerates bumps more calmly, and on the track I hear only a breeze, because the noise from it is minimal! From the first days, as Primacy 3 shod, I instantly noticed that the car began to brake much more confidently. Compared to Continental Sport, this Michelin is better in all respects! " Toha

  • “Quiet. Soft. Excellent road holding under any weather conditions. I did not find any flaws. " Alexander

And if to the reviews about the question "Which summer tires are better?" add wheel diameter by 16 inches?

The picture will be similar, because "Behind the wheel" they tested tires on a golf-class car. And if the rubber is in the R15 dimension, all standard sizes and R16 are necessarily produced. Such is the law for a tire company.

Here are examples of Michelin Primacy 3 reviews in R16 dimension:

  • “The driving style is calm. I drive Focus 2 on 205 R16 tires. Awfully glad, I like everything! During 2 seasons, I hit 10-15 thousand km, and the tires are in good condition. If you keep your driving style, you will have a couple more seasons. " Zheka

  • “Too soft and quiet, super road holding on dry asphalt! Of course, an acceptable price is also important, and with this she has complete order. And the tire fitter noted that he is well balanced. " Oleg

Concluding this article, we note that any rubber is good for a calm driving style and driving on flat surfaces. If you have deviations on one of these points - make a choice from all the variety on the market.
