In January 2013, the Belarusian-Chinese joint venture "BelGi" launched the assembly of a new car intended for the Belarusian and Russian markets. Initially, the Geely SC7 sedan will be sold only in Minsk, but in the summer it is planned to start official sales in Russia.
The first official appearance of this chinese sedan The C-class took place in front of the public back in 2011 at the Beijing Motor Show, and in Russia the novelty was presented in December last year during a dealer conference in Moscow. Geely's SC7 car was developed by the manufacturer based on the platform of Geely Vision, well-known in our country, but for Russian market a modified version has been prepared, the production of which is planned to be deployed at the Belarusian plant in Borisov.
Externally new sedan does not differ in anything bright and catchy. The design is sustained in modern traditions and is consistent with the budget class of the car. In front, the oblique "eyes" of the fog lights look very attractive, as well as the chrome-plated radiator grill, from which three stamped edges of the hood emanate. On the side of the doors, a distinctive stamped line is also noticeable, sharply rounding off at the rear wing. A simple but high bumper and large lights with two transverse chrome stripes are installed at the rear.
The length of the Geely CS7 sedan is 4682 mm, the width is 1725 mm, and the height is 1485 mm. At the same time, the ground clearance of the novelty is 160 mm, and the wheelbase is 2602 mm. The volume of the trunk is 560 liters, which is a very good indicator. The curb weight of the car is approximately equal to 1248 kg.
The Geely SC7's five-seater cabin is quite spacious in the front, but a bit cramped in the back. As for the finish, it leaves much to be desired: obviously cheap plastic and unpretentious velor are used everywhere. The layout of the front panel and center console is also very simple, but quite ergonomic, although the car does not shine with special functionality. There are no elements on the steering wheel, there are not even basic audio control buttons.
If we talk about technical characteristics, then for the Russian market the Geely SC 7 sedan will be equipped with only one engine. Role power unit Chinese engineers provided new items to the four-cylinder gasoline engine JL4G18 with a displacement of 1.8 liters (1792 cm3). The engine is equipped with a distributed fuel injection system, is located in the front, transversely and has an in-line arrangement of cylinders, each of which has four valves. The maximum power of the motor used is 127 hp. at 6200 rpm, and the peak torque falls at around 172 Nm at 4200 rpm, which is enough to develop a maximum speed of 185 km / h. The manufacturer does not officially report the dynamics of acceleration of the car, but some foreign sources suggest that from 0 to 100 km / h the novelty is capable of accelerating in about 8-9 seconds. The JL4G18 engine complies with the Euro-4 environmental standard, and its average fuel consumption is about 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
The car has front-wheel drive and is completed with only a five-stage mechanical box transmissions, although in the Celestial Empire, buyers are offered a six-speed "automatic". Note also that in China for the Geely SC7 is available Gas engine volume of 1.5 liters and a 2-liter diesel engine, but their deliveries are not expected in Russia.
It is still difficult to say anything specific about the quality of the suspension of the novelty, it is only known that an independent system with MacPherson struts will be used in front, and a torsion beam at the back. It is planned to use ventilated brake discs on all wheels, but the manufacturer has not yet announced their diameter. The Chinese versions of the Geely SC7 sedan have successfully passed the EuroNCAP (crash test) test, as a result of which they received 4 stars for safety, which is considered a very high result for the Chinese car industry. In September last year, the novelty was certified in Belarus, and at the moment crash tests and other tests are being completed at the Russian Central Research Automotive and Automotive Institute (NAMI). It is planned that all tests will be fully completed by April - May, after which the novelty will be allowed for sale in Russia. The manufacturer is planning the official start of sales in the middle of summer.
It is assumed that the new sedan Geely SC7 in Russia will be sold in two trim levels: "Standard" and "Comfort", but this is not yet final data, since marketing preparations for the start of sales have not yet been completed.
Today it is known for sure that in basic configuration Geely SC7 "standard" sedans will be equipped with fog lights, power windows, two front airbags, air conditioning, heated outside mirrors and a modern MP3 audio system equipped with a USB output and six speakers. If desired, the buyer will be able to order leather interior trim and sunroof installation as a separate option.
As for the price of the car, while the official representatives of the Chinese manufacturer do not give exact figures, but promise that the cost of the Russian version of the Geely SC7 sedan will not exceed 400,000 rubles.

There is a lot of mistrust of Chinese cars, especially among Russian buyers, but Russia is one of the most lucrative markets for East Asia. The manufacturer is well aware that there is no point in getting into the premium segment, so in 2011 he created a spacious sedan, which is the flagship in the budget segment - Geely SC7.
The model was shown at the Beijing Motor Show, an exhibition was organized for Russian buyers in Moscow. Now the model is being assembled in Belarus at the BelGi enterprise.
Appearance
The design of such cars is strange, you should definitely not expect great attractiveness. Despite this appearance at a decent level, the car is definitely not ugly, it is ordinary.
The muzzle received the shape of the headlights already with a lens inside. The hood of the car with a stamping line in the style of old Mercedes lines the radiator grill. The bumper is as simple as possible, there is nothing special about it. The presence of foglights in the form of narrow petals pleases.
The side of the SC7 is hardly surprising at all. A slight swelling of the front wheel arch, a small bump at the bottom, large rear-view mirrors with a repeater and that's it. The quality of materials is far from the best, this is a budget segment, therefore, ordinary fabric and cheap plastic are used here, there is velor in some places. It can accommodate 5 people, they will be located on simple armchairs, there is enough free space.
Regular 4-spoke steering column, there may be two buttons installed on it in some versions. The dashboard is as simple as possible, but you do not need to understand it, everything is clear even to a person who got into a car for the first time. The tidy consists of two large pointer gauges, a small on-board computer and a lot of information bulbs.
The center console of Geely SK7 may be different, depending on the year of manufacture. If the model is old, then the most simple radio with a small monitor and buttons will be located on top. Below is the air conditioning unit with two washers and an information display. The 2013 model will receive a more modern radio and a completely redesigned climate unit, which also looks more modern.
In the cabin there is not a small armrest, a comfortable large gear selector, a spacious glove compartment. The cigarette lighter is located next to the checkpoint, it is not very convenient, it is usually hidden somewhere, but here it looks a little ridiculous.
In principle, nothing else could be expected from a budget Chinese. The salon is worthy for such a sum, but still some decisions are embarrassing. But the incredible size of the Geely SC7 trunk of 560 liters pleases, for family people this is very good, in 2013 the volume increased to 670.

The 16-valve internal combustion engine works in conjunction with a 5-speed mechanics. This rejects some buyers, since now everyone wants an automatic machine due to traffic jams in big cities. But the reliability of the box will be simply stunning, since there is nothing to break there - a simple design. The same goes for the SC7 engine.
Front-wheel drive and surprisingly the manufacturer claims that the sedan accelerates to a hundred in 7.5 seconds. In practice, the dynamics will be slightly worse, but the question is how much. The maximum speed is limited to 185 km / h. The motor complies with Euro-4 standards and buyers are most interested in its consumption. In the combined cycle, the unit consumes only 7.5 liters of AI-92, which, in principle, is not much.
The chassis of the car is a MacPherson strut in the front and a torsion beam in the back. It is difficult to say what kind of reliability it is, but at first it gives good comfort. Brake system disc, fully ventilated, ABS and EBD are present. A conventional hydraulic booster helps in management.
Price
The car was discontinued, but when it was sold new, the cost of the Comfort package was 450,000 rubles. In the secondary market, at least in Russia, Geely SC7 is not for sale, while the owners are present.
Modern Chinese cars are much better than their predecessors. Build quality has improved dramatically, and the quality of materials is driven by the price. The model is one of the most affordable, while not upsetting in terms of price / quality ratio. Despite our praise, it is worth remembering that the car is still cheap and attention to it will be required, it will need to be monitored and looked after.
