Vehicle class and cost have little to do with suspension durability. Are you surprised? We are not. According to the latest rating of car malfunctions, this time compiled by Polish mechanics, urban and compact cars have the most durable suspension. At least, the Poles were convinced of this on their city roads.

Worn hinges, shock absorbers, damaged bearings, corrosion - these are all, according to mechanics, the most common malfunctions in car suspension systems.

The worst steel in terms of suspension durability french cars , the best - Japanese cars (we emphasize that we are talking, most likely, about "left-handed" models, with "right-hand drive" cars the quality should be even higher). WITH German cars not everything is so simple. Some models turned out to be cheerful, others are better not to take.

Cracks in the suspension rods, leaking shock absorbers, the car pulls to the side or the rear axle starts to steer in corners - problems with the suspension manifest themselves in different ways. Unfortunately, many drivers often underestimate the severity of the situation. Serious problems arise when you need to make a sudden, abrupt maneuver to avoid hitting an obstacle or avoiding a collision. It is at the moment of overload that a final breakdown can occur. In this case, it will be problematic to keep the car on the road, and the scenario of the winner's way out of the situation is sharply painted with black paints.

Polish experience useful for Russian motorists

According to colleagues from Poland, the average state of the suspension on cars operated in the country can be estimated at 4.1 points on a 6-point scale. According to mechanics, the most common problems in a typical car are worn hinges, shock absorbers, damaged bearings, and corrosion.

French cars were the weakest in terms of suspension

In the prepared rating, as we have already said, French cars received the weakest marks. Took the last place Mégane III- interestingly, the second generation of this model turned out to be not much better, and the third place from the end received Renault scenic III.

Cars with the most unreliable suspension types

There were also many other surprises in the ranking. For example, the most popular models on the market are Volkswagen passat B5(it has a fairly reliable suspension, but its complex front architecture and repair costs negate all comfort), (B6 and B7) and Audi A6 (C5) ranked closer to the bottom of the list, only 45th or so. Weak positions in the suspension strength rating complement Ford Mondeo third generation(47th place) and Peugeot - 207,407 and 307(39th place).

Cars with the most reliable suspension

Toyota Yaris turned out to be a city car with the most durable suspension. The first place with an average rating of 4.9 was taken by the second generation of this model, and the second position belongs to its successor. Right behind them stood Honda civic viii and Volkswagen golf VI.

A car is more expensive - doesn't it mean better?

Among cars worth up to PLN 10,000 (167 thousand rubles) mechanics rated the highest score - 4.5 - old Audi A3 8L... This model had the lowest number of suspension failures and, if any, were mostly related to problems in individual suspension components. The lowest score (3.5) in this price range was obtained by Volkswagen Passat B5... The latter most often had difficulties in the operation of the suspension and with the wheel bearings.

In the range from 10 to 20 thousand zlotys (167-335 thousand rubles) Toyota Yaris II(4.9) was not equal. Its suspension turned out to be the best in the entire rating. The mechanic did not find any faults in this model. The worst in the considered price group was Audi A4 (B6 and B7)(3.7). Both auto mechanics and car owners do not like it: it often breaks down, often requires intervention.

Among the most expensive cars included in the rating (price range from 335 thousand rubles to 500 thousand rubles), best result(4.8), as in the second group, took Toyota Yaris, only more new model- 3rd generation. A high rating does not mean, however, that the car's suspension is problem-free. Difficulties in operating this model were mentioned, for example, damage to bearings or cracked springs. The great loser in this group is the Renault Mégane III (3.5), which also became the lowest-rated suspension in the entire ranking.

For most car enthusiasts, it is largely determined by its reliability. The high cost of a vehicle is not always a guarantee of flawless operation without breakdowns. Both budget segment cars and premium cars fail. Only the last ones are much more expensive to repair than the first ones.

Almost any modern car straight from a car dealership can drive, for example, 300,000 kilometers, with the only difference that the amount that will need to be invested in car maintenance during this sprint will differ. Naturally, it is much easier and more practical to purchase not only safe, but also reliable car where investment in renovations will be minimal. It is enough here to carry out the planned Maintenance, keep the car in order and frequency, and it runs for a very long time.

The situation in the car market

Thematic publications and magazines have repeatedly conducted research in this area and have compiled specific tops, which include the most indestructible cars (the rating is presented below). Almost all more or less significant and large sales markets were studied - from the Middle Kingdom to the European car industry. The picture was not the most rosy, but the researchers managed to identify a number of more or less reliable cars.

It should be noted right away that all representatives of this rating cannot be called budgetary, but it is understandable: the quality of performance has always been distinguished by the corresponding price, and confidence in the reliability of the vehicle simply cannot be cheap.

So, we present to your attention a list of cars, which includes the most indestructible cars, according to experts in this field. All models can be seen live in the vastness of our homeland, touched in car dealerships, and, if desired, purchased. That is, there will not be any exotic things like Jaguars and Porsches - all cars have adequate prices for their segment and are real for purchase, and can also easily drive 300,000 kilometers without major repairs.

The most indestructible cars according to the eminent thematic publications:

  1. Honda Accord.
  2. Toyota Camry.
  3. Honda Odyssey.
  4. Honda CR-V.

Honda accord

"Honda Accord" is not only a well-equipped good family sedan, but also the most indestructible car, and at a very reasonable price. The car proved to be excellent on the road and is easy to handle in any, even the most difficult conditions.

The interior of the car inspires respect and looks very solid. In addition, the interior turned out to be spacious, so there should be no discomfort if on back seat there will be three people of average build at once.

The most unkillable car entered the Russian market in two variations: with a 3.5-liter V6 class engine and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. A continuously variable transmission consumes only 9 and 7.8 liters per 100 km, respectively, which is a very good indicator for a car of this class. As for reliability, neither the experts nor the owners have any questions here.

Toyota Camry

"Japanese" have always been distinguished by attractive features of the body and increased indicators of convenience with comfort, and "Toyota Camry" is just a striking representative of its race. In addition, the model received an enviable stigma as the most indestructible car.

The latest Camry lineup has received a significant interior redesign, and dashboard with the interior became even more beautiful and more ergonomic. The already reliable suspension has been further redesigned into better side: added stability and significantly increased undercarriage soundproofing.

Distinctive features of the car

The model came to Russia in several engine variations - from 1.8 liters to 3.5. Average fuel consumption "Camry" fluctuates within 9 liters per 100 km. The long and serious history of Toyota includes not only the beauty and complaisance of cars, but also reliability, which is once again proven by the Camry line. The model became so popular among domestic consumers that they began to assemble it near St. Petersburg in the village of Shushary, of course, with the knowledge and consent of the venerable concern.

Honda odyssey

Unlike other minivans and frame vehicles, the Honda Odyssey is not easy vehicle for a solid company, and a car with responsive and soft control, which is rare for a car of this class. Let's add here the high reliability of the chassis with a body and get perfect option for a large family.

The car is equipped with a six-speed and 3.5-liter V6 engine. Average fuel consumption per 100 km ranges from 11 liters, which is very good for such a bulky and roomy car.

Features of the car

The most unkillable car can accommodate up to 8 passengers, but for proper comfort, you should not take more than seven people of average build on board. In addition, the body has the ability to transform for some kind of cargo needs, which significantly expands the scope of the family minivan. It is also worth mentioning separately that the manufacturer has worked especially meticulously on the attachments for child seats, where the problem of synergy different models There are no seats in principle due to the variety of adaptation brackets.

As a fly in the ointment, it is not fully worked out with which only a savvy specialist or a person who has read an impressive manual is able to figure it out. Also, many owners complained about the quality of the interior trim, because the price of a minivan requires, if not leather, then at least another material of similar quality.

Honda cr-v

The CR-V model from the venerable Honda is a frame car with high reliability. In addition, the car distinguished itself spacious salon and an excellent functional set. In Russia, the model is available with two engine variations - 2 and 2.4 liters. Both run on gasoline and have a CVT. Average fuel consumption per 100 km ranges from 10 liters to the envy of other gluttonous SUVs.

The car has practically no flaws, but many owners in their reviews complain about the goofy multimedia and entertainment system. As in the previous case, it is difficult to learn and sometimes behaves in a completely different way than we would like. Moreover, the system greatly distracts the driver while driving if it is turned on even by 50% (for passengers in the back seat).

Separately, it is worth noting the excellent handling of the car, despite the stiffness of the suspension. The car is obedient and easily controlled by the driver, even if it feels bumps on the road. Also, some owners are unhappy with the noise in the cabin, which this year's version could not get rid of. But this misfortune of all frame SUVs, so this moment can be called critical only at a stretch. So, in general, the model was a success, and the CR-V series can be designated as the most indestructible cars.

Although the quality of Russian roads has improved slightly in recent years, drivers still have to take care of the suspension of their vehicles quite often. But as it turns out, the owners of certain brands of models have even more reasons for concern. British insurance company Warranty Direct has published a rating of brands, models of which are most often forced to visit services to fix chassis breakdowns. The faults of shock absorbers, levers, silent blocks, hinges, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic suspension elements were taken into account. Do not stay away from the drive, differentials and locks.

10. Volvo - 27.5%.

The Swedish brand has been renowned for the high level of safety of its vehicles for many years. However, in terms of serviceability, not all Volvo models look better than their popular rivals. It also happened this time. According to Warranty Direct, Scandinavian vehicles have a high risk of premature wear on suspension and drivetrain components. It is noteworthy that most often problems are found in vehicles with four-wheel drive.

9. Chevrolet - 27.8%

The mark that left Russian market was a cheaper alternative Opel models, with which she was closely associated. As it turned out, cheaper doesn't mean better. Cars with a cross on the hood make you invest more often in repairing the suspension and drive elements.

The German model in the small city car segment can be taken as a model in the area passive safety compact designs. The situation is much worse with the durability of the suspension and transmission.

7. Bentley - 29.2%

The low reliability of the suspension of the British brand, owned by the Germans, is surprising, but hardly upsetting a wide range of motorists. After all, we are talking about cars "off the top shelf", which 99.99 percent of the world's inhabitants will never be able to reach. And yet, the engines of enormous power, and the sporting ambitions of the owners, led to the British brand's suspension showing a high failure rate.

6. Mercedes - 29.7%

The German brand, which has been recovering its undermined credibility in recent years, is not showing progress in suspension and drivetrain durability, according to the British. Most often, failures occur in models with an all-wheel drive system and powerful engines.

5. Alfa Romeo - 30.7%.

The models of this Italian brand are famous for their beauty and good handling. Suspension durability has never been rated well, however. Thus, if the reliability of the Alpha as a whole can still be argued, then no one doubts the veracity of the data obtained on the endurance of the suspension and transmission.

4. Land rover - 31,4%.

The British manufacturer offers one of the world's finest SUVs. But to our deepest regret, the suspension and mechanisms of the all-wheel drive system do not always easily endure the hardships of life. It is worth noting that Jeep, whose models also occasionally roll off the asphalt, was ranked 27th with a result of 17.8 percent of chassis faults.

3. Mazda - 32%.

Mazda has been delighting car enthusiasts with its modern design and great engines lately. And, nevertheless, fans of this brand will have to prepare for the elimination of unexpected malfunctions in the suspension.

2. Suzuki - 34.2%

In Europe, the Suzuki brand is represented primarily by the Swift and Grand vitara... The first is a fairly rugged city dweller, the second is one of those rare modern SUVs that does not fail away from the asphalt. For a moderate price tag, the Japanese SUV offers four-wheel drive and the ability to manually lock the differential. The chassis proved to be the only weak link in the brand's vehicles.

1. Subaru - 34.6%.

Last but not least, Mini and Kia topped the list of the strongest suspension brands!

In conditions bad roads in our country, and in the near abroad, our motorists are always worried about choosing a car with a reliable suspension that will withstand all bumps, potholes and can hold out without replacing component parts for a long time. What is she best suspension car? we will try to find the answer to this question in this article.

The car's suspension is designed to be the connecting element between the road and the car body. In full-fledged SUVs, the suspension is connected to the frame, not to the body. The first suspensions appeared in carriages and carriages, so that the first cars received patented systems for damping loads when driving on roads.

Most modern passenger cars mobiles are equipped with several types of suspensions. A MacPherson suspension or double wishbone suspension is installed in front. And at the rear, the suspension can be dependent, semi-independent and independent with a different number of levers.

Car front suspension on double wishbones It has coil springs that give elasticity, and two levers that are attached to a subframe or frame. A similar suspension can be found in large-sized sedans (business and executive class), as well as crossovers and SUVs. This type of suspension is characterized by low wear, except for the aluminum components. So aluminum levers in this type of suspension are installed by brands such as Audi and BMW. On the one hand, this gives a low weight of unsprung masses and increases comfort, but the wear of such parts is too great in our bad roads.

Also, the double-wishbone front suspension is often expensive cars equipped with pneumatic or hydropneumatic elements that make the suspension the most comfortable, but such components are very expensive. On Russian roads, pneumatic cylinders can go no more than 50,000 kilometers.

The MacPherson strut front suspension is based on a shock absorber strut and a coil spring around it. The end result is a fairly compact suspension that fits easily under the hood of small cars. Actually and popular given type suspension for cars A, B and C classes.

Large sedans and crossovers are equipped with independent multi-link rear suspension. This type can guarantee excellent ride comfort and smoothness. But this suspension easily "killed" over pits and bumps, which are many on our roads. With this type of suspension, pneumatic elements are also often installed in expensive car models.

As rear suspension on passenger cars most often used is a simple torsion-bar semi-independent suspension. It can be found under the underbody of most modern small hatchback and sedan models. It is quite simple, cheap and hardy. Among the shortcomings can be noted the high rigidity of the suspension, but on the other hand, this means that it will be difficult to "break through". They are equipped with such a suspension, Lada granta, Renault logan, Peugeot 301, Volkswagen Polo sedan and their other classmates.

As a result, we can conclude that the best car suspension for our roads is the MacPherson type at the front and the semi-dependent torsion-bar suspension at the rear.

Suspension is a multi-piece structure that connects the wheels to the body and softens road bumps. It includes:

  • parts responsible for the elasticity when the car moves up and down on a bumpy road;
  • guides involved in turning the wheels to the desired position and preventing;
  • shock-absorbing elements that prevent passengers from feeling shocks from bumps and other imperfections in the relief.

By type of suspension structure there are:

  • spring - the very first in the world and still used;
  • spring-loaded - durable, reliable, not requiring special care;
  • torsion bar - compact and customizable;
  • pneumatic - allow you to change the value ground clearance.

According to the principle of operation, the suspensions are divided into:

  • dependent - they are used in heavy vehicles, frame SUVs;
  • independent - they are used in cars;
  • semi-dependent - used in light budget cars.

Usually, cars are bought with ready-made suspensions, that is, the choice remains with the manufacturer, but some drivers subsequently replace the design. To determine which car suspension is right for you, and to better cope with the road on which you constantly move, you need to consider all the options available.

Leaf springs

The leaf suspension is a fairly simple structure: it is a bow-bent plate made of several layers of elastic steel, which, together with a corresponding pair, is laid along or across the body, between it and the wheels.

A similar suspension (but more primitive) was used even in horse-drawn carriages, and is now used in Gazelles, UAZ vehicles and trailers for heavy equipment. Despite the considerable age of the system, it has a number of undoubted advantages:

  • it extends the service life of the shock absorbers, since it itself suppresses some of the vibrations;
  • easy to repair;
  • the best in terms of efficiency car suspension.

Among the minuses of the springs are:

  • a narrow range of applications - only in dependent suspension, which more and more car manufacturers refuse every year;
  • fragility - the spring protects the shock absorbers, taking on the main load, therefore it often wears out;
  • for passengers it feels quite tough and uncomfortable, so cars with such a suspension are bought only for work in the field of public transportation (minibuses, etc.) in order to save money;
  • the spring requires care - it must be lubricated so that the metal layers do not rub against each other;
  • over time it starts to creak.

Spring loaded

A practically indestructible spring suspension is used in both dependent and independent versions, and also does not have a high price. As you might guess, it is a spring, the curls of which are smaller at the edges than in the middle, in order to more efficiently transfer axial forces.

Such suspensions are used in inexpensive passenger cars, and in modern foreign cars - the best multilevel springs (the so-called "swinging candle"). Their advantages:

  • price;
  • durability;
  • unpretentiousness - the suspension does not need any lubrication or gaskets.

Disadvantages:

  • the suspension requires levers to properly direct the forces;
  • good hydraulic or telescopic shock absorbers are needed, because the spring does not dampen vibrations by itself.

Torsion

The main component of such a suspension is a torsion bar - a rod made of elastic steel, one of the ends of which is attached to the frame or body, and the other has a special lever. Thanks to this, you can change the amount of ground clearance by tightening or loosening the torsion bar. A similar suspension is now used in SUVs based on a frame frame.

The advantages of torsion bars:

  • in the event of a malfunction, they can be replaced without the help of a specialist;
  • they weigh little and are quite simple;
  • allow you to adjust the height.

Disadvantages:

  • requires attention and proven production technology, since it is very important that the ends are correctly secured with a gear connection;
  • production is expensive and also affects the final cost of the machine.

Pneumatic

The most progressive and softest type of car suspension: its reliability rating is very high in recent years. It is a capsule with compressed nitrogen, the change in pressure in them allows you to achieve a shock-absorbing effect and do not use additional shock absorbers.

It is very easy to adjust the suspension in such a way as to adjust the amount of ground clearance: for example, on the highway it can be made smaller and increase the speed, and off-road - more.

If your car has a different type of suspension installed at the factory, but you want it to be converted to pneumatic, then the shock absorbers must be left.

Air Suspension Pros:

  • it takes over the functions of all three suspension elements: elasticity, setting the desired direction and damping;
  • softness can be changed at your own discretion;
  • you can increase / decrease the amount of ground clearance without much effort.
  • price;
  • on high speed machines and the suspension wears out quickly;
  • only a specialist can replace the suspension.

Dependent, independent and semi-dependent

The independent suspension assumes that the pair can move up and down independently of each other. Thus, if one wheel hits an obstacle, this will not affect the position of the other. Due to this feature, passengers do not feel shaking and travel with comfort.

In the case of a dependent suspension, the opposite is true: a common axle rigidly connects two wheels and makes them synchronously respond to road irregularities. From this sensation, passengers may not be very comfortable, but when cornering and on difficult terrain, such a suspension prevents skidding when cornering and slipping. It is used in buses, trucks and frame SUVs.

The semi-independent suspension has trailing arms that are connected by an elastic axle, which is much less rigid than in the dependent version. Thanks to this, it is possible to combine best qualities both types and make travel comfortable.

On modern cars often put different pendants: for example, on the front wheels - independent, and on the rear - dependent or semi-dependent, to make the car more comfortable and maneuverable.

Thus, the choice of suspension depends on what tasks your car will face: whether it has to overcome off-road conditions or whether it has to drive around the city and on a good track.
