Volkswagen Caddy - the development of the Volkswagen concern, the model is presented as lightweight commercial vehicle... The start of production started in 1080 and has 3 generations of the model. The first is 1979 to 1996, then the second generation from 1996 to 2004 and the last third generation from 2004 to the present day. The third generation Cuddy underwent several facelifts (2010 and 2015), which undoubtedly increases interest in the car.

This small commercial vehicle is no more difficult to maintain than others cars... I merged the old mining, filled in new oil, changed the cleaning filter and drive another 15,000 km until the next change. What you need to have before starting work is a minimal set of tools on hand, rags, an empty canister to drain the used oil and a new consumable.

Filling volumes and oil selection

Owners of Volkswagen Cuddy cars pour mainly 5W-30 and 5W-40 synthetics into the engine. Regarding the choice of the "brand", any more or less reputable company will do, and it is not necessary to buy the most expensive one.

  • Motul 5W-30;
  • Castrol EDGE 5W-30;
  • Shell Helix 5W30;
  • Repsol Elite Evollution long life 5w30;
  • Aral SuperTronic Longlife III 5W-30;
  • XENUM VX 5w30;
  • Castrol Edge Professional Long Life III 5W-30
  • LIQUI MOLY Top Tec 4100 5W-40;
  • ENEOS GRAN-TOURING SYNTHETIC 5W-40.

The amount of oil required depends on the specific engine configuration:

  • 1.2 TSI (CBZA) - 3.6 L;
  • 1.4 (BCA) - 3.2 L;
  • 1.6 TDI (CAYE, CAYD) - 4.5 L;
  • 1.6 (BGU, BSE, BSF) - 4.5 L;
  • 1.9 TDI (BJB, BLS, BSU) - 4.3 L;
  • 2.0 EcoFuel (BSX) - 4 L;
  • 2.0 TDI (CLCA, CFJA, CFHC) - 4.3 L

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Warm up cold engine... We need to clean the old oil from the engine crankcase, the more it flows out, the better.
  2. For easy access to the drain plug (and in some models, the oil filter is also attached from the bottom) and the bottom of the car as a whole, you need to jack up or drive into the inspection pit ( the best way). Also, in some models the "protection" of the engine crankcase can be installed.
  3. We unscrew and pull out the oil dipstick and filler plug... Thus, we will allow air for a better stack of old mining from the crankcase.
  4. Substitutes a large container (equal to the amount of oil to be poured).
  5. We unscrew the drain plug with a key. Sometimes the drain plug is made as a usual "bolt" for an open-end wrench, and sometimes it can be unscrewed using a four or a hexagon. Do not forget to wear protective gloves, the oil will most likely wake you up warm, but you need to be careful.
  6. We are waiting for about 10-15 minutes until the mining drains into a bowl or a cut plastic canister.
  7. Optional but very effective! Flushing the engine special liquid is not included in the service schedule and is not mandatory - but. Having a little confusion, you will at times better flush the engine from the old, black oil. At the same time, flushing is performed with the old oil filter within 5-10 minutes. You will be surprised what kind of black oil will pour out with this liquid. This liquid is very easy to use. A detailed description should appear on the flushing fluid label.
  8. We replace the old filter with a new one. In some models, it is not the filter itself and the filter element (usually yellow) that are replaced. Impregnation of the filter with new oil before installation is mandatory. Lack of oil in a new filter before starting the engine can cause oil starvation, which in turn can deform the filter. In general, this is not a good thing. Remember to also lubricate the rubber o-ring before installation.

  9. Fill in new oil. After making sure that the drain plug is screwed in and installed new filter oil cleaning, we can proceed to filling new oil guided by the dipstick. The level should be between the minimum and maximum mark. Also, you need to remember that after the first start of the engine, a little oil will go away and the level will drop.
  10. Recheck the oil level on the dipstick after the first start. Let the engine idle for about 10 minutes.

Vadim () To pour only synthetics according to the tolerance of 505.00, but you can also have a better tolerance, I personally pour 507.00, but it is expensive and honestly I think that I shouldn't pour it though .... The oil practically does not go to waste, although it was in the summer heat of 300 grams. I change the oil every 10 thousand km more often I don’t change it because I’m not a racer, if you drive aggressively, then you need to change a thousand after 8. The filter used to be a small bollard, but for two years now UFI has excellent quality and is a bit cheaper. On the last question, I honestly don't know, I always merge.

Andrey will say the marking according to the catalog in any decent store, the recommendations of the plant, and then we judge by the weather conditions and the temperature at which the car will operate, well, the manufacturer comes from the greed of the owner and the appraiser for the reputation of the oil manufacturer.
