Touareg 2018. Fans of the model immediately divided into two camps, some of which are disappointed in the model, due to the complete transformation of the once serious SUV into an urban SUV, others are happy with modern technologies and engineering solutions in the new model.

Of course, these points of view have a place to be, because initially the Touareg was a real SUV with an honest all-wheel drive, a low gear and a center differential lock. On the other hand, the second generation was very late on the market and was no longer relevant, because the 2nd generation Touareg was born in 2010 exactly 8 years ago.

Since we are interested people and consider the model not from the point of view of a simple consumer, but from the point of view of model fans, let's start from afar and fast forward to 2002, when the car was first presented at the Paris Motor Show. Then the Touareg made a big impression, as it combined the comfort of business class sedans and off-road qualities large frame SUVs.

In 2007, the car underwent a restyling, which undoubtedly benefited, since the first generation was not very reliable due to the electronics. The line of motors has also been updated, they have been improved and get rid of old problems. A new three-liter diesel engine has appeared which has gained immense popularity in world market, in mainly due to its combination of power and flow. A little later, we were presented with a charged version of the Touareg r50 with a 5-liter diesel engine, familiar to us from the first Tuareg. The car received nice buns, adaptive cruise control and a blind spot tracking system. In 2007 it was cool and few competitors could boast of the same options.

It should be noted that Volkswagen Touareg in the Russian Federation, wealthy people bought and for the most part honestly earned money, because Volkswagen never shouted about itself and was never a premium brand, like Mercedes or BMW, but meanwhile it was not inferior to them in terms of comfort and any driving characteristics ...

In 2010, a completely new Touareg is released that raises the bar for competitors. The new one became even better handling, and the new one simply impressed with its dynamics and torque. The car received all the modern systems that were popular at that time. By off road Touareg everything was also moving well, although slightly worse than the previous generation and it is not even connected so much with the device all-wheel drive as with a new body and its painted lower bumper parts.

In 2014, there was a restyling. A more modern appearance and refinement of NF children's sores made the car truly flawless. Finally, bi-xenon headlights were already installed in the base and the terrible halogen, as it was on the second body, was no longer there. The most popular diesel 3-liter engine was also modernized and the adaptive cruise control system was improved. But no matter how good car was not, time takes its toll and in 2018 this body is already morally obsolete, as well as all the electronic filling.

And finally, a new generation was introduced to us. Most auto bloggers and auto journalists agreed that new Tuareg will be the same Q7 with fewer options and a different design. As we understood this is not entirely true, the Volkswagen Touareg is built on the MLB platform, the car also received a very aggressive aspiring design and advanced optics.

Also, the interior decoration of Tuareg has changed quite a lot, two huge monitors adorning dashboard and the multimedia control unit are in perfect harmony with the atmospheric lighting that runs along the perimeter of the entire cabin. The long deflector on the passenger side, we are already familiar from the Audi Q7 and looks a little alien to me here.

The center console, made in high-tech style, is not overloaded with buttons, two transmission control washers, the choice of the four-wheel drive mode and the height of the ground clearance. Also, the gearshift knob on the Tuareg has disappeared, now there is a modern joystick, it looks good, but still the coolest and most comfortable handle was in the first generation, it resembled the thrust control on an airplane. Now, in the front row, you have access to massage.

From pleasant on the car, it became possible to order door closers. The rear of the car looks very massive new LED lights set new fashion all model a number of Volkswagen, and the elongated chrome Touareg lettering reminds us of the family ties with Porsche cayenne Also, for the first time, a night vision system appeared on a car.

But if appearance it's a matter of taste for everyone, then new line engines out of any discussion.

Let's not focus on technical details. power units, let's just say that the three-liter diesel engine remained, but of interest is the new diesel v8 4.0 accelerating the Volkswagen Touareg to hundreds in 5 seconds, its torque is 900 Newtons and the power is 415 Horse power... Also, the Touareg will now be equipped with a two-liter gasoline and a two-liter diesel engine, the power of which we do not know yet. The fight for the environment did not leave aside and new model from Volkswagen, a hybrid installation coupled with a gasoline engine will also be installed on the new Tuareg, details are still unknown.

What conclusions would I like to draw about the new model? Of course, the tour has lost its versatility and on serious off-road you are unlikely to go on it. But on the other hand, if you look at the entire history of the model, and at the global trend in general, Volkswagen has been deliberately moving towards this all these years, first removing unnecessary offroad packages, and then completely abandoning them. All this is due to the fact that the consumer does not need all these capabilities, Volkswagen sold very little Touareg 2 generations with an offroad package, with a low gear and a center differential lock, and there was simply no point in equipping a new model, all automakers quietly left this all-wheel drive design and if you think about it, the Touareg was probably the last European with such a powerful off-road arsenal. Of course stayed frame SUVs from Japan, but we do not even consider them, since they do not meet the needs of a modern person and produce irrelevant models.

Volkswagen Touareg firmly entered the premium segment, pushing its more famous rivals. Now people will seriously think about buying a Volkswagen Touareg, while comparing it with the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Mercedes GLS and BMW X5, X6. There is no nationality in the model, the prices promise to be high. Moreover, a new niche will occupy a more budgetary niche.

I would also like to note that, in general, the design and the ideology of Tuareg itself turned towards the Chinese and American markets, this is confirmed by the presence of a large abundance of chrome on the front end and narrow elements, as well as the power of the body and swelling of the arches. we advise you to read:

It is too early to draw conclusions on the model and all of the above, only value judgments, assumptions, what place the Touareg will actually take can be said only after it arrives in Russia

Thank you for reading to the end, subscribe to us on social networks there are many interesting things.

Cars belong to the class of off-road vehicles. Both brands are well known in the world of the automotive industry and enjoy great prestige among motorists, including here in Russia. These models from Germany, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Tuareg, belong to the class of elite cars.

A bit of history

Porsche was founded in 1931. An intricate emblem located on the hood of the car speaks of the connection of car manufacturers with the German state of Baden-Württemberg and its main city of Stuttgart, where Porsche is located.

The history of Volkswagen is notable for the fact that the company was created in 1933 by the idea of A. Hitler, who dreamed of releasing an inexpensive people's car for the Aryan nation - VolksWagen, which served as the name of the new company. It is noteworthy that the founder of Porsche, engineer and designer Ferdinand Porsche, was present at that historic conversation with the Fuhrer. Since then, the brands have been linked by strong family ties and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Porsche specializes in the production of premium SUVs and sports cars. I would like to note that the Porsche brand is the most profitable among other car manufacturing companies for its owners.

Volkswagen Group products represent an extensive lineup of cars of different classes, including the famous and beloved by many, the Tuareg model. The car got its name in honor of a tribe living on the African continent. This SUV has received recognition for its reliability in operation, good cross-country ability and a high level of comfort. A restyled version of the second generation of the model was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in 2015. The car does not correspond to the original purpose of the auto company to be a budget, but belongs, like the Porsche Cayenne, to the elite class.

Cayenne, this name he received in honor of the capital of French Guiana. The model has been produced since 2002. Now a restyled version of the second generation is entering the arena, the presentation of which took place in New York. The created car, the company's management has high hopes: its task is to become the fastest SUV in the world and at the same time to surpass its daring competitor Bentley bentayga... Only a car with a small mass can show the best speed. Therefore, in the production, composite materials and aluminum alloys were used, the weight of which is significantly less than body materials made of ordinary metal.

Model Description

Tuareg of the present time is not much different from the previous version of the model. Before us is a large SUV, the dimensions of which have increased.

On the exterior, he received a lot of elegance, especially in the front. Its classic straight lines are smoother and more attractive. A powerful bi-xenon appeared in the head optics. External appearance the body is undoubtedly decorated with chrome trim, including the radiator grille, where it looks especially attractive.

Porsche Cayenne externally has also changed little. The pompous old-style hood has been replaced by a more elegant one. But the smile of the front of the car, formed from the combination of the pattern of the headlights and the radiator grill, does not differ in friendliness. Before us is a smug respectable car that knows its worth. Ground clearance 215 mm, but may increase if air suspension is installed up to 268 mm. The car has more sporty features in appearance, thanks to which it is positioned by the company as a sports SUV.

Interior

Everything is great inside the salons of both German cars. Excellent finishing materials, technical equipment, comfortable chairs, praise for every element. The Tuareg has a more austere environment, Cayenne has a more "cheerful" appearance, but the comfort and convenience for passengers are everywhere at the highest level. In Porsche, more attention is paid to driving in extreme conditions: almost semicircular front seats that securely hold the bodies of the driver and passenger, additional handles for holding.

Perfect volume luggage compartments: 670/1780 liters in the Cayenne and 974/1814 liters in the Toureg. Such compartments will allow tourists, fishermen, entrepreneurs, all people who enjoy using these machines to take with them a large amount of luggage.

Summary

Convenient, comfortable cars with excellent technical characteristics are not cheap. Tuareg can be purchased from three million, Cayenne will rise a million more. I don't want to repeat the hackneyed phrase - you have to pay for beauty. And so everything is clear. Both SUVs belong to the elite of modern cars. Expensive materials, high-tech equipment, which are equipped with SUVs, make them available not for every motorist. For many, they remain the dream to strive for.

What do the Audi Q7, VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne have in common?

Unification in automotive world originated at the same time with the appearance of the first self-propelled carriages and quickly acquired a planetary scale. Cars of different concerns can be equipped with the same candles, identical motors are installed on two or three models of the same brand, and cars produced according to the same "pattern" are released under different names... The unification is hidden from the consumer, and it is all the more interesting to find out what the Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg and Audi Q7 have in common, because all three cars are produced under the wing of one giant corporation.

In 1965, the People's Automobile Company Volkswagen completed a deal to buy back from Daimler-Benz a full block of shares in the withering Auto Union company. Recall that in the post-war period, except for a small number of Horch assembled by hand (the last car was produced in 1953), Auto Union produced several models under the DKW brand and one - 1000 Sp Roadster - under the Auto Union brand itself. Since the mid-50s, the demand for Auto Union cars began to slowly fall, and by the time of the transition under the wing of Daimler-Benz (1958), the position of Auto Union was unenviable. The reason lay in two-stroke engines that gave the owners a lot of trouble. Managers of DaimlerBenz, trying to rectify the situation, sent their engineer Ludwig Kraus to Ingolstadt. However, he managed to cross the Mercedes four-stroke with the DKW F 102 only by 1965. The car, which opened the era of four-stroke engines at Auto Union, was named Audi F 103. However, the first Audi, which has nothing to do with DKW, saw the world only in 1968 - it was the Audi 100.

The beginning of unification dates back to that time. Audi models and VW. At first, it was about small things, but in the mid-70s, the fact of badge engineering was also recorded. When the first generation VW Polo was presented to the public in 1975, Audi dealers had been offering its technical counterpart - the Audi 50 for a year already. Despite the fact that the cars were located in different price niches, the cheaper Polo had already ousted the fifty from the market by 1978.

Actually, the history of the global automotive industry clearly shows that any unification leads to the loss of the technical individuality of brands and, as a result, to their disappearance. The most striking example is the British auto industry: at different times in foggy Albion there were more than 60 car brands, and almost all of them died out precisely after their products began to be unified. This process in the world continues to this day: last year, Pontiac has sunk into oblivion, this year Mercury is being closed. Saab, not long ago considered dead, miraculously resurrected (for how long?), But the legendary Alfa Romeo is heading into the abyss of badge engineering ...

The close cooperation between VW and Porsche began with the development of a platform for the Touareg and Cayenne models (2002). But in the bowels Porsche panamera(the model was ready for mass production back in 2007) engineers from Stuttgart hid the motors from Audi. The aggregate unification of the three brands reached its peak this year, when the second generation Touareg and Cayenne were presented to the public, and a little later - a modified Audi Q7.

Closer to the subject

So if we go over technical specifications The Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg and Audi Q7 will find that these models share the same engine, and the V6 diesel is far from the most powerful corporate diesel available. On the Cayenne, this unit was implanted only last year, while on the other two machines it was installed before, and on the Q7 there were fewer "heads in the herd" (233 versus the current 240). The choice of the engine is most likely due to the claim to high-tech: they say, if you really buy a diesel Porsche, then in order to drive it a thousand kilometers without refueling, nothing less. Indeed, on the modification with the Ingolstadt 6.0-liter V12 developing 1000 Nm, it would be difficult for the Cayenne driver to overcome such a segment, especially with a breeze. Diesel V6 is quite modern, but far from the latest squeak of fashion. Even the maximum injection pressure from Bosch is 1800 bar. Today you will hardly surprise anyone with this figure.

Much more interesting is the eight-speed automatic transmission of the classic hydromechanical design. Before the appearance on the Cayenne, Touareg and Q7, only two Lexus passenger cars could boast of a similar unit, the BMW 7 Series with gasoline engine V12 yes Audi A8 (December 2009). The box, according to the assurances of Audi specialists, is designed Japanese company Aisin. The firm is worthy, the mechanisms are wonderful, but the fact that for this German troika one of the key units was "composed" in Japan may be too tough for a part of the target audience of these machines. They will not understand this unification ... By the way, on the aforementioned BMW, the automatic, as always, is German - from ZF.

As for the transfer case, this is a cleaner case. This movement (now manufactured by Magna Powertrain) was inherited by the Cayenne and Touareg from the Audi Q7. And everything would be fine if, with its appearance, both the Touareg and Cayenne did not turn from SUVs into crossovers! Moreover, the buyer of the Touareg can still choose between the 4Motion crossover drive and the 4XMotion off-road drive, but for the owners of the second generation Cayenne, the "lowering" will remain pipe dream... True, they did not really need it.

By the way, here is another by-product of all these "upgrades": the second generation Cayenne is equipped with center differential only for diesel and hybrid versions! On other - gasoline - modifications there is no thrust distribution between the axles. One of the axles "pulls" constantly, while on the other, if necessary, a multi-plate friction clutch takes traction.

Differential installed in transfer case The Cayenne, Touareg and Q7 are of torque sensing type, that is, self-locking. Moreover, in this case, it can rightfully be designated as Torsen, with a capital letter, since the company that produces it, JTEKT, owns the Torsen brand. This mechanism is made according to a rare scheme that is almost not found today: the arrangement and functional purpose of the elements is like in a planetary gear, but the teeth of the gears (sun, epicycle and satellites) are cut along a helical line. Their configuration provides self-braking. In the free state, the differential distributes torque in a ratio of 48:52 (or 40:60 - depending on the model), when locked, up to 65% of traction can be realized through the wheels of the front axle, and up to 85% through the wheels of the rear axle.

Where the world is heading ...

The logical development of unification between the Audi Q7, VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne will be the appearance of a hybrid modification at the Ingolstadt crossover. Work in this direction was started five years ago. In 2005, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, even a conceptual Q7 Hybrid was shown. The very first experiments on the electrification of serial models in the newest Audi stories refer to 1989 - then, on the basis of the all-wheel drive Audi 100 Avant, they designed a hybrid with a weak 12.6 horse power electric motor and an exotic nickel-cadmium high-voltage battery from the standpoint of today! Nevertheless, environmentally friendly VW and Porsche cars were more likely to go into the series. What can I say, marketing ... It is hardly necessary to expect a serial Q7 Hybrid (already with a corporate drive) this year. After all, the main environmentally friendly premiere of Audi in the second half of this year should be the already announced mid-size Audi Q5.

As for the unification of the Q7, Touareg and Cayenne, and indeed Audi, VW and Porsche, it is obvious that this process will only intensify. The main thing is that everything is in moderation. And how would we not have to see a C-class passenger car from Porsche in a few years. It hardly seems unrealistic, because the Volkswagen W12 Concept supercar was already there, however, in 1997 ...

Problems with the pedal assembly on these cars were identified during internal checks. At the same time, cars produced for the period from 2011 to 2016 were checked.

According to preliminary information, manufacturers will recall about 390 thousand Volkswagen Touareg and 410 thousand Porsche Cayenne cars. Employees of the companies report that most of the cars subject to recall were sold on the German market.

Recall that these cars are built on the same platform - that is, in fact, they are the same cars, covered with different bodies. But nevertheless, it will hardly be possible to call the "traveler" Volkswagen Tuareg and "dude" Porsche Cayenne twin brothers.

For example, Volkswagen is much more spacious than the sporty Porsche, which, in turn, is distinguished by presentability and indescribable luxury.

With all this, manufacturers are in a hurry to assure that the elimination of the identified problems will take no more than half an hour for each car.

The main differences between Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne

As you know, the Volkswagen Touareg is considered the most productive, with an engine power of 360 hp, while the engine power of the "weakest" Porsche Cayenne is 300 horsepower. As for the suspension, it is much softer in the family, albeit rather expensive, "German" Tuareg, although its stiffness adjustment systems are installed on both compared cars.

Volkswagen recalls Passat cars

It is worth noting that the "mid-size" Volkswagen Tuareg is not the only car that has been recalled. German manufacturer... Over the last period, the revocation procedure has undergone and Volkswagen passat- there were identified malfunctions in the electrical circuit system.

By the way, representatives of the German automotive company drew attention to the fact that the process of recalling cars is not related to the recent scandal that erupted around the installed diesel power units, the test results of which, according to some reports, were faked by the company's employees.

WITH outwardly, they are so different! And in the decoration of the salons there is little in common. But it is worth stopping on the lift and looking from below ... All three - from one sandbox, whose name is Volkswagen AG, or simply VAG. And I really want to figure out how the new Volkswagen Touareg differs (or does not differ) from the Audi Q7, which it actually caught up with in price. Is the additional payment for the Porsche Cayenne justified?

They have a diesel gate overseas that has turned into a multibillion-dollar nightmare for Volkswagen AG. And here Volkswagens on heavy fuel are scattering with a bang - maybe also because the company, compensating for the decrease in demand for diesel cars in the USA and Western Europe, is trying to offer them in Russia at sweet prices. Lately, seven out of ten buyers have chosen a Volkswagen Touareg with a V6 diesel! And even if this version is somewhat more expensive than the gasoline version, it is considered (and not without reason) to be more reliable and, of course, economical. For the new generation Tuareg, nothing will change: the stake is on diesel! Moreover, an alternative to the diesel V6 will now be two-liter motor the same "tax" power of 249 hp. There is enough strength, but two liters under the hood of a "heavy" Tuareg ... Somehow strange. Yes, there is also a gasoline V6 TSI, but this is a completely different price (minimum - 4.44 million rubles) and other taxes - already based on 340 hp.

Thanks to the headlights integrated into the grille, the new Touareg looks much larger and more solid than the previous one.

However, our diesel Touareg in the performance of the R-Line, to put it mildly, is not cheap - almost 5.3 million rubles. And this is not yet full minced meat! I hear the owners of the current Tuareg hiccuping loudly. For that kind of money, you can buy a BMW X5 (nowadays there are good discounts for the outgoing model), the same Audi Q7 in a good configuration - and even a Porsche Cayenne, prices for which start at five million rubles. But raise your hands for those who bought the base-base Cayenne! There are no such? And because the marketing departments are not stupid - and for the most attractive options dealers ask for a considerable surcharge: for example, the Porsche Cayenne in our test costs 7.64 million. And this is the "input" petrol version with a capacity of 340 hp. Diesel and potentially more affordable Cayennes have been delayed for now - good if certification for the new WLTC driving cycle is completed by the end of 2018.

But for the Audi Q7 they offer exactly the same range of engines as for the new Tuareg. That is, the same V6 diesel is among the favorites (it is chosen by 95% of buyers). We took version 3.0 TFSI (333 hp) to use this example to tell about the features gasoline engine- and along the way to compare the settings of similar power units on Audi and Porsche.

The central display is tied to control not only "music" and navigation, but also the microclimate and chassis. The main thing is to remember where what lies: you can flip through the "desktops" with a wave of your hand along the bottom edge of the screen

Engaging in the battle for the premium buyer, Volkswagen is adopting the same tactics as Audi, Mercedes or BMW. The main thing is to impose the idea that the basic versions are intended for simpleton suckers, and a self-respecting customer chooses cars in the S line, AMG Package or M Sport body kit. In the case of the Tuareg, this is the R-Line version - with other bumpers and body-colored plastic linings on the sills and wheel arches. Everything that makes the SUV more vulnerable on the ground, but more effective on the asphalt. However, let's get closer. Why are the side sections of the grille docked with such careless gaps? Why are there two black holes under the top bar, in which the heads of the fastening screws are visible? This was during the first meeting - and now I understand him.

Already "in the base" front seats with electric drives and Vienna leather trim, and for a surcharge, lateral support adjustment, ventilation and massage ">

The massive handle of the electronic selector fits well in the hand. Shaking it towards you in the Drive position, you turn on the sport mode of the box
Already "in the base" front seats - with electric drives and Vienna leather trim, and for a surcharge - adjustments of lateral support, ventilation and massage

Audi in the S line body kit does not allow such negligence. But the Porsche Cayenne, even without body kits, looks in every sense the most collected, and at the same time - impetuous and sporty.
