The Hyundai Elantra is a mid-size car that has been in production since 1990. It received the last generational update at the beginning of May 2010. Since then, the engineers have carried out one restyling, which made the car even more powerful and more aesthetically pleasing than it was before.

In Russia, the car is selling quite well. In its class, it has won the trust and love of consumers. We became interested in the question of whether it is really as perfect as the owners describe it. And, as you know, the quality of a car depends on where the model is made. Therefore, we will figure out where Hyundai Elantra is assembled and how it is produced.

Countries where cars from Hyundai are assembled

In general, the South Korean company Hyundai has a lot of factories around the world. The engineers of the concern ensured that their models became recognizable and popular. Production is located on all continents of the world, where Korean cars are sold. That is why the corporation is showing such huge sales. But, most likely, the quality of assembly, rather than the number of factories, affects the popularity of cars.

Naturally, the first plant, which we will talk about, is located in South Korea. Hyundai Elantra is assembled here in the town of Ulsan. The plant makes about two-thirds of the total volume produced by the company for the year. Some of the cars remain in the domestic market, but most are sent abroad.

Hyundai Elantra is also produced in Turkey. The Hyundai factory in this country was opened in 1998. It was the first venture that enterprising Koreans designed outside their home country. Today one of the most powerful factories with huge production volumes is located here.

Until 2010, Elantra was assembled at the TAGAZ plant in Taganrog. As you already understood, we are talking about production in Russia. But, now the models are produced at Hyundai's own enterprise. It is called Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Rus and is located in St. Petersburg.

Also worth mentioning are factories in America, Brazil, China, India and the Czech Republic. But, these manufactures make the Hyundai Elantra for the global market. They do not go to Russia. Therefore, we will leave the disassembly in their assembly to the Europeans and Americans, and we ourselves will understand the work of the engineers of those countries where this model is assembled for Russia.

The assembly of a model always depends on who assembles it. As mentioned above, the Hyundai Elantra has been in production since 1990. At that distant time, the car was delivered to us by sea from the plant in Ulsan. The South Korean assembly did not cause almost any criticism. Now in Russian car dealerships you can find about 60% of cars of this production. The rest of the cars were assembled here, first at the plant in Taganrog, and now in St. Petersburg.

In any case, our Hyundai Elantra appeared a year later than on the world market. But, on the one hand, this is very good. After all, it is in the first year of operation that all the visible flaws of the model appear.

Our engineers assemble the car according to all world standards, slightly adapting it to Russian roads. For example, they installed heated seats, a warm steering wheel and slightly increased the ground clearance. It rains all year round in Korea. Thus, the engineers installed excellent rain and glass sensors on the car, from which water quickly drains. Russian engineers did the same. Only for us this feature is more suitable for snow.

In general, there are no comments either to the chassis, or to the appearance, or to the technical characteristics of the Hyundai Elantra assembled in Russia. Therefore, when purchasing this machine, you do not have to worry about its quality.

The Hyundai Elantra sedan was launched in 1990 and exported to the European and American markets. In some countries, this model was called. The car was equipped with licensed Mitsubishi engines of 1.6 liters (113 hp) and 1.8 (124 hp), and an automatic transmission was offered as an option.

2nd generation (RD), 1995-2000

In 1995, buyers were offered the second generation Elantra with sedan and station wagon bodies. The Korean version has a new name. The base car of the car had a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 107 hp. with., there were also modifications with engines of 1.6, 1.8 and 2 liters.

3rd generation (XD), 2000-2010

The third generation cars began to be produced in 2000. The name remained in the past, and in all markets except Korean (where the name was retained) the car was known as the Elantra. Instead of a station wagon, a five-door hatchback appeared in the lineup. Buyers were offered versions with 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 engines, as well as with a two-liter turbodiesel. In 2003, the exterior of the car was slightly changed.

In 2006, the car gave way to the assembly line of the fourth generation model, and soon the production of the "third" "Elantra" was resumed at TagAZ, where the car, called the Hyundai Elantra XD, was made from 2008 to 2010.

The Hyundai car brand is one of the most popular and recognizable in our country, the name of the company is translated from South Korean as "modernity". By the way, the correct pronunciation of the brand is not "Hyundai", not "Hyundai", not "Hyundai", as many mistakenly pronounce, but "Hyundai". Hyundai cars are assembled at once in several countries of the world and on all continents, from where they are delivered to all over the world. The company's production volumes are also mesmerizing: 1.73 million vehicles were produced in Hyundai in 2010.

Hyundai models sold in Russia are assembled in different countries; Let's list the largest car factories where Hyundai cars are assembled for subsequent sale in Russia:

  • The car plant in Ulsan, South Korea is the largest Hyundai plant, where the largest number of cars of this brand are produced, 2/3 of which are assembled for further export to other countries.

The car plant is located in the industrial area of Kamenka in St. Petersburg.

Hyundai is one of the best-selling car brands in Russia. It is not for nothing that the name of the concern is translated as "modernity", because the developers always keep up with the times, and always use the latest technologies.

Hyundai cars are produced in many countries of the world, and according to the level of filling the market, the company is in the top three.

The productivity of the company is impressive: in 2010, 1,750,000 vehicles were assembled at all Hyundai branches. South Korea made the largest contribution as a producing country.

For Russia, "Koreans" are assembled at many factories, both domestic and foreign. Among them:

  • the South Korean plant in the city of Ulsan, which is rightfully the most powerful enterprise of the company;
  • Taganrog plant "TAGAZ", which made Hyundai cars until 2010;
  • a plant in St. Petersburg, construction of which began in 2008, and the first cars rolled off the assembly line in 2010;
  • the Turkish branch of Hyundai, which has been operating since 1998.

Also, Hyundai cars are manufactured at factories in Brazil, the USA, the Czech Republic and India. However, their products are not supplied to the Russian market.

Solaris is one of the leaders in sales in Russia. The debut of the model took place in 2011, and a very heavy burden was placed on her shoulders - to become a quality replacement for the Hyundai Accent.

After the Koreans opened a branch in St. Petersburg in 2010, serial production of Solaris for the domestic market began.

It should be noted that at this enterprise the complete assembly of the model is carried out, including welding and painting.

Hyundai ix35

If you ask any domestic car enthusiast the question: "What is the best Korean crossover?", Then the answer will be: "Hyundai ix35".

The debut of the model took place in 2009, and she was supposed to replace Tucson.

The year 2010 was marked by the fact that the producing countries, including South Korea, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, began mass deliveries of ix35 to Russia.

Representatives of the company promise that the production process of the crossover in Russia should soon be adjusted.

Hyundai i30

After the 2007 Hyundai i30 was first presented to the public, it immediately became clear that the car was simply doomed to success.

Today, the assembly of the third modification of the model is already underway. i30 are supplied to the Russian market from a Czech company located in the town of Nosovits.

It should be noted that until 2009, exclusively Korean-made cars were exported to Russia.

Hyundai Santa Fe

Today, Hyundai Santa Fe can already be safely called the legendary crossover, which is the older brother of Tucson and ix35.

At the moment, the model is being assembled at American and South Korean branches. However, for the Russian market, the model is supplied only from Asia.

The first two generations of the model were assembled at an enterprise in Taganrog.

Hyundai i10

The subcompact car Hyundai i10 was officially presented in 2007. Of course, the model did not become as popular as the developers expected, but it has its fans all over the world.

At the moment, i10 is being assembled at the facilities of India and Turkey. It is the Turkish-assembled cars that can be purchased at dealerships. But, in fairness, it should be noted that until 2013, more preference was given to cars from India.

Hyundai i40

Hyundai i40 is one of the few models that is assembled exclusively at Korean factories.

It was first presented to the public in 2011 - a station wagon, and 2012 - a sedan.

Hyundai i20

The car appeared on the domestic market in 2009. It was supplied from South Korea, Turkey and India. But, due to low demand, now Hyundai i20 is exported only from Korea.

Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Elantra is one of the most "ancient" models of the company. It began to be assembled back in 1990, and since then the car has remained one of the best-selling in its class.

To date, the model is assembled at the South Korean plant in Ulsan. From 2000 to 2007, the car was produced at the Taganrog enterprise "TAGAZ".

Hyundai Sonata

Even older than Elantra, the car. Today, Hyundai Sonata is produced in South Korea, and at subsidiaries in the United States. In the second case, cars are supplied only to the local market.

From 2003 to 2010, the Sonata was released in Taganrog.

Hyundai Coupe

One of the youngest Korean cars, the Hyundai Coupe was produced until 2009.

Its assembly took place at factories in South Korea, Turkey and Thailand.

Models of the South Korean assembly were supplied to the Russian market.

Output

The Hyundai company produces some of the most recognizable cars. The production workshops of the concern are located all over the world, which does not in any way affect the quality of the vehicles.

The famous Hyundai Elantra car in Russia belongs to the C-class. In its segment, it occupies a leading position, since this car is well sold not only in our country, but also in the markets of other countries. The production of the very first generation of this model started back in 1990. Therefore, this car is already quite old age. Today the car is sold under the names - Lantra and Avante. And where is Hyundai Elantra assembled for Russian buyers? This question today torments not a single owner of a comfortable "Korean". The model was last updated five years ago (2010).

Since that time, engineers only once subjected the model to restyling, after which it took a leading position in its class. There was a time when Hyundai Elantra for the European and Russian markets was assembled at an enterprise in Czechoslovakia (the city of Nosovitsa). Today the cars are assembled at the St. Petersburg plant "Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus". And in 2009 in Ukraine at the "Bogdan" plant they also set up the assembly of this "Korean". In addition, Hyundai Elantra is produced by South Korea (Ulsan), from here cars are sent to world markets, including the Russian one. Almost all generations of the Elantra model are assembled at the South Korean enterprise. The exception is cars that were assembled for other countries. In the period from 2000 to 2007, some generations of Elantra were produced in the Russian Federation in Taganrog at the TAGAZ enterprise.

In what other countries is the "Korean" collected?

The South Korean concern Hyundai has a lot of points around the world where they assemble Hyundai Elantra and many other cars. Automobiles of the Korean concern are recognized all over the world. Thanks to the hard work of the brand's engineers and designers, the Hyundai Elantra car is loved by consumers in every corner of the universe. But, for consumers, the main thing is the build quality, and not the number of factories where Hyundai Elantra is produced.

The main and largest enterprise where this machine is assembled is a plant in South Korea, located in the city of Ulsan. Some of the cars produced are sold on the domestic market of the country, the rest are exported to Russia and other countries. The release of this model of the "Korean" has also been launched in Turkey. Here the Koreans opened the enterprise back in 1998. A large number of cars are produced here, and the enterprise is one of the most powerful. In addition, Elantra manufacturing plants are located in:

  • Czech Republic
  • India
  • Brazil
  • China.

Unfortunately or fortunately, cars from these enterprises do not enter the Russian market. Elantra of domestic assembly is maximally adapted to Russian roads. Whether our engineers succeeded in making a truly "Russian Korean", you need to ask the owners of the sedan.

Vehicle equipment

Hyundai Elantra is a C-class executive sedan. A restyled version of the vehicle debuted in 2013. The changes affected both the exterior and the equipment of the sedan. The machine received:

  • new bumper
  • a different radiator grille
  • new rear bumper
  • other disks on wheels.

The interior of the updated "Korean" now has ventilation for the rear and front seats, there are air ducts and a new armrest. Engineers built Hyundai Elantra on a platform with McPherson struts. The quality and reliability of the vehicle depends on where the Hyundai Elantra is produced. The restyled "Korean" will receive new options and, depending on the configuration, may have:

  • side airbags
  • active headrest
  • dynamic stabilization system
  • functional multimedia system
  • power package
  • tire pressure monitoring system
  • SPAS system.

The engine range of the model remained the same, plus a new power plant entered it. Now a 1.6-liter gasoline engine is installed on the sedan, which is capable of delivering 140 horsepower. The Russian consumer can be offered Elantra, both with a manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox.
