The Russian automotive market is full of cars from various well-known world concerns. Therefore, our compatriots have a lot to choose from. We sell Japanese, German, Italian, French, American, korean cars... And recently, more and more buyers are interested in the cars of the Chinese company Lifan. Over the past few years, the Chinese have significantly improved the quality and reliability of their cars, and they cost much less than vehicles of other brands. In particular, fans of the brand are interested in where the Lifan X60 is assembled, a crossover with imperfect quality, but with an ideal cost.

Interior and exterior

Chinese Lifan company improved the technological component of its machines and improved the quality of production. At home, the Lifan X60 model is considered an SUV, but for our country it is an urban crossover suitable for operation on the highway, but not for rural and dirt roads... The model is devoid of all-wheel drive, but the Chinese claim that they will eventually install it on this crossover. Outwardly, the "Chinese" is very similar to the "Japanese" - Toyota RAV 4. The Chinese do not deny this, they completely copied the front part, only they put a different radiator grill on their car. Also, where the Lifan X60 is produced, interestingly shaped headlights, swollen wheel arches, and a massive bumper are installed on the car.

At the back, as is customary, a branded spoiler was installed. The dimensions of the five-door Chinese crossover are: 4325 mm × 1790 mm × 1690 mm. This car cannot boast of good build quality, although the Chinese assemble it according to new technology... On a five-point scale of quality, the car pulls a C. Speaking of the center console of the crossover, we can say that it is the same as that of the Japanese original. Some will say that Chinese designers have no imagination at all, this is so, but on the other hand, the buyer will receive a car with a good and multifunctional interior.

There is a lot of space inside the "Chinese" and it is cozy, five adults can easily accommodate here. The seats in the front are a bit disappointing as they lack lateral support and are a bit uncomfortable in shape.

The luggage compartment of the Lifan X60 is average, only 405 liters. All the details in the interior of the car are fixed conscientiously, and the quality of the materials used for finishing is disappointing. To some extent, the interior of the "Chinese" is better than the interior of the "Japanese". When driving inside the car, unnecessary squeaks and extraneous sounds will not be heard, which is good news.

Specifications

Where the Lifan X60 is produced for Russia, they took into account the operating conditions and the quality of the road surface, but not quite. The MacPherson front independent suspension is installed on the crossover, and the three-link independent rear suspension is installed on the crossover. The handling of the "Chinese" is good, wheel responds well enough to cornering. High-quality disc brakes on all wheels and ground clearance... Under the hood of the crossover, a Chinese-English 1.8-liter gasoline power unit with 133 horsepower (168 Nm) is installed. The car can accelerate to the first hundred in 11.2 seconds.

The maximum speed of the "Chinese" is 170 kilometers. The average consumption of AI-95 gasoline per hundred kilometers is 8.2 liters. This Chinese crossover pleases with its low cost. Basic configuration will cost the buyer 450,000 rubles. The most expensive "Chinese" costs 585,000 rubles. The owners of this car model are not entirely happy with such a purchase, since the car often breaks down and you have to wait a long time for new parts for repair. The owners say that the car is poorly assembled and not at all ready before being used in winter Russia... The main advantage of this crossover is the price, and for most buyers this is the main indicator for purchasing a car.

The Lifan X60 is in many ways a typical low-cost crossover. His design is "without problems" - front-wheel drive, 1.8-liter Gas engine and mechanical five-speed gearbox gear. And the exterior is shamelessly "assembled" from the stylistic elements of the models of famous manufacturers. Almost immediately, the features of the Toyota RAV4 are guessed, Hyundai santa Fe and Opel antara... But the "mixture" turned out to be quite organic and modern.

The creators of the X60 do not hide that they designed their crossover with an eye on at least one of the listed cars - the Japanese bestseller RAV4. The motor of the X60, by the way, is also "Toyota" - the time-tested aspirated 1ZZ-FE. However, before getting under the hood of the X60, this engine was re-optimized by the specialists of the famous English company Ricardo. Changes include a different firmware of the control unit and layout nuances, and "at the output" it turned out to be 128 hp. at 6000 rpm and 168 Nm at 4200 rpm.

Acceleration to 100 km per hour is achieved in combination with mechanics in 13.1 seconds;



  • a mechanical unit with 5 gears is used as a transmission - it accounts for up to 80% of sales. In more expensive trim levels, a continuously variable variator is used as a transmission. Such a mechanism is notable for its good working capacity, it “clicks” the gears adequately, however, in terms of acceleration dynamics, this combination of engine and transmission is rather mediocre;
  • the suspension is typical for most models of the automaker - there is a multi-link in front, and a beam with a stabilizer in the back. At the same time, there is no possibility of choosing an all-wheel drive version in the trim levels, which is uncharacteristic for crossovers of this size, but if there was such, it would significantly increase the cost of the final cost of the car.




It is noteworthy that in the course of the two last restyling changes in the technical part of the Lifan x60 2017 were not carried out, but only concerned the exterior design and, to some extent, the interior, which, of course, did not affect the final cost, but allowed to increase sales. That is, Lifan x60 characteristics in terms of technical equipment remained unchanged.

Design

The design of the car is original for the most part, but the aspects and details of the "donor" RAV 4 of the previous generation are clearly visible. This is noticeable both in overall dimensions, general layout, and the general appearance. The first generation cars, which were produced from 2011 to 2015, clearly show the features of the early Chinese car industry.
In the version of the first 2013 Lifan x60, the interior space, especially the central tunnel, is almost completely a copy of the RAV4 model. The front of the exterior is highlighted by a large chrome-plated radiator grille with vertical spokes and a large company logo.



In the restyled version of the second generation, which became a transitional version from the old version to the new, it was made for a short time from 2015 to 2016, the changes were purely cosmetic in nature - the radiator grill became even larger, a new audio system appeared inside the cabin, and the beige interior colors disappeared in the equipment. Also there is a new form wheel rims... Not every consumer will be able to distinguish the first generation from the restyled one, since the changes were mostly formal in nature.
But time passed inexorably and the model outwardly became obsolete every year, the concern understood this and knew that changes in the part of the exterior should be of a more cardinal character. Therefore, at the end of 2016, the last generation of the crossover appeared on the market, which is currently present in our market.




The third or full-fledged second generation of Lifan x60 new in the final appearance has an order of magnitude more originality, since the front part has been redesigned with a change in the radiator grill, the interior decoration has received additional elements in the form of stitching for seats and side door cards, as well as a central tunnel with a new audio system. In general, the external and internal appearance of the crossover is characterized by:

  • the exterior of the Lifan x 60 car in the new 2017 body is distinguished by impressive wheel arches, in which not too large discs of 16 or 17 diameters are installed (it is clearly seen that there is an opportunity to install 18-20 diameter rims). Also in the side parts, the embroidery line is clearly visible at the level of the chrome door handles, which stylistically dilutes the overall space of the side part. In front, the car contains a massive block of headlights, at the bottom there are slightly less massive fog lights. In the central part, the bumper is crowned with a radiator grill with a crossed out stripe with the concern's emblem in the reystaling version. Also below the fog lights are LED running lights... The back has blocks rear lights equipped with LEDs and a chrome trim above the license plate;
  • The interior of the Lifan x60 car in many respects repeats its donor in the front. On the sides there are round air duct deflectors, the central part with an impressive audio system and a climate system control unit is located at an angle to the driver, which almost exactly repeats the previous generation RAV 4 layouts. Lifan x60 has a good view from the driver's seat, given the high seating position. The seats are comfortable enough and moderately hard, the internal space is enough for the comfortable movement of 5 medium-sized passengers. The trunk volume is 290 liters, which is not bad for of this body... In expensive trim levels, it becomes possible to equip the interior with leather seats.

Options and prices

The range of cost indicators for this model is from 720 to 980 thousand rubles. A total of 8 configurations are available with 5 equipment levels:

  • in the original trim levels, the standard equipment includes power steering, 4 airbags, a climate system in the form of an air conditioner and stamped discs with hubcaps. In the initial versions, there is no possibility of choosing a variator as a transmission. In terms of safety, the model includes a stabilization system and a stability control system in any configuration;
  • in more expensive trim levels, in addition to the variator, alloy wheels, climate control, leather seats and additional airbags. The cost of the additional payment directly depends on the level of equipment.



At the same time, dealers have a flexible system of discounts due to which the models of previous years do not accumulate in warehouses.

Main competitors

The main competitors of the machine are models Renault Duster, Lada x-ray and Renault Kaptur, that is, models costing either up to 1 million rubles, or with a price tag of just over a million.

Features of the model that distinguish it from competitors

The features of the model include a combination of the developments of past generations - this is a combination of reliable engineering solutions, and modern equipment both in terms of safety and comfort. In the technical part, such a machine will hardly surprise anyone; in its appearance, many will also immediately recognize the RAV 4, however, in combination of Chinese and Japanese technologies, an interesting specimen has turned out, which, if not the greatest, but is in steady demand.

Pros and cons of the model

Like any X60 car, it has both disadvantages and positive aspects.

















The pluses include:

  • combination of reliable solutions and the use of new technologies for comfort and safety;
  • competitive cost, on average 100 thousand cheaper than competitors, which for many is a decisive factor when buying;
  • the model has been on the market for more than 7 years, and the demand for it is increasing every year, even despite the price increase;
  • the optimal combination of complete sets in accordance with the cost.

The disadvantages of the model include:

  • unstable build quality at the domestic Derways plant, which is why many consumers complain about the final product;
  • weak engine and mediocre acceleration dynamics;
  • a certain distrust of Chinese manufacturer, due to which sales cannot reach a new quality level;

Outcomes

As a result, the Lifan X60 crossover rightfully occupies a leading position among the products of the automobile concern, due to the presence of undeniable advantages. In the future, the company plans to continue modernizing the model and improving the technical part and appearance.
In the end, the majority of consumers vote with the ruble and stable, albeit small, sales of the model speak volumes and there is a prospect for a breakthrough in the implementation of the X60.

Of course, the Lifanovites call the x60 their own development, but the genesis of the model is more prosaic - it is taken as a design basis. Toyota model RAV4 second generation. Apparently, unofficially: Lifan has no legal relationship with the Japanese company, and the Chinese are engaged in "imitation" at their own peril and risk. But it would be rash to call the x60 a copy of the RAV4. Rather, it is a "plot based on": the structural and layout scheme is similar to the RAV4, but the dimensions have been changed, as well as the overall aesthetics of the car.

Lifan х60 - a car with a monocoque body and a transverse arrangement power unit... The engine is new, with a volume of 1.8 liters (133 hp), with a variable valve timing system. In the Chinese version, the phase shifter is denoted by the abbreviation VVT (Variable Valve Timing), which also echoes the "Toyota" development VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence). The 1.8 VVT LFB479Q engine was made in cooperation with the English company RICARDO, which is even mentioned on the official website of the British. Many other design details are also taken from European manufacturers, in particular from Bosch and Valeo. The Chinese are even proud of this, emphasizing the "new level of quality."

The x60 design is quite typical for cars of this class: McPherson front suspension, rear - independent "multi-link", disc brakes on all wheels with 4-channel ABS. Steering rack and pinion, with hydraulic booster. The supports of the power unit are selected correctly, no vibrations are transmitted to the body and controls. Even the air conditioner radiator is not rigidly fixed to the front beam, but through additional dampers and is separated from the engine radiator by foam rubber gaskets. A trifle - but nice.

Transmission - only a five-speed "mechanics", no variator, no automatic transmission is provided. Unfortunately, no all-wheel drive is envisaged either, they think about it, but there is no solution yet. It's expensive and goes beyond the concept of the x60 as an extremely cheap car. At the same time, the Chinese already have the design of the drive to the rear axle through a viscous coupling, it's only a matter of the economy of the project. Now the Lifan marketers think that the all-wheel drive version of the x60 may not withstand the competition.

From this it is easy to deduce the market framework of the model: an urban SUV or even just a station wagon with an increased ground clearance, in which there are more comfort, convenience and versatility than claims to conquer off-road. The salon is not made in Chinese with high quality, even, from good fabrics and plastics. There is a pungent smell in new cars, but this is not phenolic emissions, but the "aroma" of glue and sealants, which quickly evaporates. We got used to the smell after half an hour of getting to know the car.

The architecture of the front panel is simpler than "Toyota", for example, the Chinese did not begin to reproduce the spectacular "glove compartment" with a sliding lid, located in Toyota between the passenger airbag and the main glove compartment. The center console and dashboard are different here. The RAV4 is only reminiscent of a similar arrangement of deflectors and climate control "krutilok". The transformation of the cabin is beyond praise: backseat can be folded separately and completely, with the pillows recline forward, and the backrests lie on the floor, forming an almost level platform. For rear passengers, there is a large folding armrest with two cup holders. More of the little things: a 12-volt socket in the armrest box for the front riders, cup holders in all side doors, a small folding niche to the left of the driver.

So far, the Lifan x60 is offered in two trim levels - LX and EX. The first - basic - includes two front airbags and ABS + EBD. Various nice things are added to the EX, such as a two-din DVD audio system with a large screen, navigator and visual parking sensors, a key with a remote trunk opener, leather steering wheel, front seat belt pretensioners, climate control.

The Lifan Motors proving ground, where it was proposed to test new crossovers, is not very suitable for a full-fledged test drive, to put it mildly: it is extremely compact, representing only a road with three types of irregularities and one “driving” hairpin turn. Therefore, so far we can only speak approximately about what x60 is in motion.

The curb weight of the crossover is 1330 kg, which is comparable to a conventional C-class car. Therefore, the engine is 133 hp. "Lifan" is more or less enough. The Chinese have not yet shown the graph of the dependence of the torque on the rpm, but it is obvious that the motor reaches its maximum return at about 4500 rpm.

The first two gears are quite short and fast, and the third is long, with a claim to economy. With a sufficiently "sharp" steering wheel (a little more than 3 turns from lock to lock), the steering wheel lacks sensitivity. The position of the rudder at "zero" is indistinct and there is not enough feedback. This does not add confidence when maneuvering at high speed.

Third gear, revs of about 4000, "throttle to the floor" - and at the apex the engine starts to die down: it lacks traction. In general, Lifan x60 has a weak handling character, unsuitable for active driving. But economical urban movement is his element. Hence the excellent fuel consumption indicator: 8.2 liters per 100 km (according to the passport). The 1.8 VVT engine, the only one in the Lifan range, is driven by electronic pedal gas and complies with Euro-4 standards.

From April Lifan x60 will be produced in Russia at the Derways plant in Cherkessk. The scale of the project has not yet been determined, even the Chinese themselves do not know in what trim levels the car will be released on Russian market and at what prices. The future name of the novelty is also unknown. Although the "Lifanovites" in Russia give their cars more poetic names than digital indices. The price will be more affordable than the main competitor - Vortex tingo... The latter in a mono-drive version is now sold for 500 thousand rubles.

WITH four-wheel drive for x60 there is no clarity yet, but the "automatic" for the car is not provided in principle. And this is a big marketing blunder of the Lifanovites. It will be very difficult to sell the planned 25 thousand cars without the "automatic machine". It is this amount of x60, according to the Chinese, that the Derweiss conveyor is capable of providing. In China itself, by the end of this year, only 10 thousand cars will be assembled, half of which will be exported.
