Most commercial vehicles are very similar to each other. However, the Renault Kangoo I is one of the few in the class to have an all-wheel drive modification and offered sliding rear doors for the first time.

Model history

Renault Kangoo's technography began in 1997, when the French presented their futuristic Pangea prototype during an exhibition in Geneva. The serial version of the model appeared in car dealerships a year later. And although outwardly Kango did not differ much from the conceptual Pangea, technically the difference between them is huge.

In the same year, the French began to offer a special "off-road version" of the Pampa, which after the very first facelift in 2001 was equipped with four-wheel drive... This is a very interesting solution considering that few competitors have such an option. The pampa features additional black plastic overlays, increased ground clearance and tinted headlights.

At first, the car was offered with only one rear sliding door. A year later, the manufacturer installed sliding doors on both sides. Such a practical solution has not been offered by any of the competitors for some time. In 1999, the French delivery man became the most popular vehicle in the class not only in France, but also in other European countries. In terms of sales, it even surpassed minivans and minibuses.

Two years later, in 2001, Renault decided to slightly rejuvenate the Kangoo I and carried out a thorough restyling. What has changed? First of all, the headlights, bonnet, radiator grill and front bumper... Corrected a little taillights, and began to use plastic more High Quality... The soundproofing of the cabin has also noticeably improved.

Two years later, Renault carried out another modernization. This time, the changes were purely cosmetic. The production of the first generation model was completed in 2008, followed by the second generation. The car was assembled not only in France, but also in Malaysia, Argentina and Morocco.

Engines

R4 16V 1.0 (69 HP)

R4 8V 1.2 (61 HP)

R4 16V 1.2 (76 HP)

R4 8V 1.4 (76 HP)

R4 16V 1.6 (97 hp)

Diesel:

R4 1.5 DCI (58, 65, 69, 71, 83, 86-90 HP)

R4 1.9 D (56-65 HP)

R4 1.9 DTI (82 hp)

R4 1.9 DCI (82-86 HP)

Range power units seems rich, but the list of proposals clearly lacks higher power engines. On the other hand, in a car of this kind, dynamic characteristics usually fade into the background. Not all of the above versions are available in our market. Which ones should you choose?

Those who prefer gasoline engines are easier to decide. Regardless of the engine chosen, only one problem will have to be solved - short-lived ignition coils. You will hardly find a weak 1-liter engine, as well as a "sleepy" volume of 1.2 liters. Not worth paying attention to is the 1.4-liter unit, which has the same power as the 16-valve 1.2 liter, but consumes much more fuel. In terms of dynamics, the best is 1.6 liters: it allows you to reach the first hundred in about 11 seconds. Unfortunately, he asks for a lot of gasoline - about 10 l / 100 km, and with high mileage, you must be ready to replace the gasket under the head. The cost of such an operation, together with replacing the timing belt, is about $ 500.

Those who choose diesel are faced with a dilemma: to rely on stability or dynamics. Most will certainly prefer less power and higher reliability. For them, 1.9 DTI is best suited - rarely found. It is devoid of serious drawbacks (with high mileage, the injection pump may fail - $ 200-500) and is very economical, but it does not cope well with the weight of the car and is quite noisy. In addition, a car with this engine has an ineffective heating system. In severe frosts, glass often freezes. The atmospheric 1.9 D has become more widespread - a real workhorse, but too "slow".

If dynamics is important to someone, then you should pay attention to the dCi units, which are distinguished by very soft work. Unfortunately, in samples with big runs more and more often we have to deal with the failure of injectors, fuel pump, a turbocharger (about $ 500) and an EGR valve. Many of these problems were virtually eliminated after 2005. However, the diesel version is worth purchasing only if you can afford a younger one.

Design features

Most representatives of this class have a drive only to the front axle. But in lineup Renault Kangoo found a place for the all-wheel drive version of the Pampa. Two gearboxes were aggregated with the engines: a 5-speed mechanics and a 4-speed automatic. MacPherson struts work on the front axle, and a torsion beam at the back. But the all-wheel drive version has a system of independent levers on the rear axle.

Renault Canggu is a fairly safe car. In EuroNCAP crash tests, it earned 4 stars.

Typical malfunctions

The reliability of French cars is often controversial. Some copies are constantly breaking down, while others are operated without any problems. The same goes for Kango. What to look for in order not to get hit by a time mine?

First of all, you should carefully inspect the body, exhaust system and suspension. The specimens of the first years of production were intensively rusted. Do not forget to check the operation of the sliding door mechanism and locks rear doors... After many years of operation, they can become difficult.

Sand gets into the guides of the sliding door drive mechanism, which quickly wears out the moving elements.

Bare sliding door rails corrode rather quickly.

It is also necessary to check the transmission and engine - they often suffer from oil leaks. The disadvantages include too soft mount transmission. This is reflected in noticeable gear lever movements when adding and subtracting throttle. Replacing the pillows under the engine and gearbox improves the situation, but does not completely eliminate the "childhood ailment". It is also worth taking a closer look at the cooling system, which regularly lost its tightness in the cars of the first years.

Corrosion exhaust system- a common occurrence.

In the front suspension, the struts and stabilizer bushings, ball joints of the levers (change separately) wear out relatively quickly. And with frequent trips on bad roads with a full load at the rear, the geometry of the wheels usually disappears. In the future, expensive repairs of the beam will be required. It will take about $ 300 to fully regenerate. Used part good condition will cost $ 200. The average resource of the beam is 150-200 thousand km. Light knocks will tell you about the need for repair. The longer version of the Kangoo Maxi (or Grand Kangoo) has a modified and stronger rear suspension.

Brake discs wear out relatively quickly, especially during regular operation with a full load.

Owners often complain about wiring problems - contact disappears. For this reason, malfunction indicators, most often airbags, come on. Very often the glass heating, the generator and its pulley (in diesel versions) fail. The combined steering column switch often fails and central locking. Over time, the plastic in the cabin begins to creak strongly. Fighting noise doesn't make any sense - you just have to get used to it.

Corrosion of the electrical connections will cause the rear window defroster to stop working.

Conclusion

And yet the list possible malfunctions big enough. So will you be able to enjoy yourself in a moderately problem-free operation of Renault First generation Kangoo? Yes, but on condition that you purchase a well-groomed copy, it is better after the first restyling.

Prices secondary market range from $ 3000 to $ 8000. What does the buyer get in return? Very functional and roomy interior (luggage compartment 600-2400 liters), comfortable suspension and relatively economical engines. An important advantage Kangoo - many versions of the body, so you can choose a car for both family and work. The biggest drawbacks are the high risk of malfunction, poor quality plastic, unsatisfactory corrosion resistance of pre-styling versions (up to 2001) and rather sluggish engines.

Over time, the spare wheel locking mechanism will turn sour.

Typically in automotive world are highly respected by powerful and expensive cars... But the new 2019 Renault Kangoo is not one of them. The Renault Kangoo 2020 model is a budget car, but the quality is fully consistent with its price tag.

TO powerful car everyone's attention is constantly riveted, they are traded for at auctions, they are kept in expensive collections. But the automobile economy, and just the economy, is based on completely different cars, nondescript at first glance, but truly practical and useful. Not so expensive, but no less valuable. Such as Renault Kangoo.

All companies

So, Renault Kangoo. In fact, it is small commercial vehicle from a French manufacturer. In 1998, the company's management announced the start of sales of the first generation of a model focused on business and small cargo transportation. The car was selling very well, so in 2003 a thorough restyling was carried out, and in 2008 the world saw a new generation of cars - Renault Kangu 2. The model received a new line of engines, both diesel and gasoline.

The choice of Renault Kang was offered engines with a volume of 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6 liters (gasoline), capable of quite dynamically, in comparison with a diesel engine, to accelerate a car. However, in the domestic open spaces, it was the diesel versions of 1.5 dCi and 1.9 dCi, which were distinguished by extremely low fuel consumption, were more popular. Such versions could consume from 4.5 to 6.5 liters per 100 km of run. As a box, it was possible to order either a 5-speed automatic or a 4-range automatic. Among other things, there were versions with both front and all-wheel drive.

Today, the second generation Renault Kangoo has long been removed from the assembly line and this model can only be found in the secondary market. So the price in Russia starts with a revenge of 220-230 thousand rubles for cars of the first years of production. For an amount of about 700-750 thousand, you can buy a fairly fresh used Renault Kangu in good condition with low mileage and in a good configuration.

Description of the external appearance

The Renault Kangoo model sold well by the standards of commercial vehicles. Therefore, in 2013, the management announced the start of sales of a substantially modernized model - thoroughly revised and improved. Moreover, the changes affected all areas - from appearance and ending with undercarriage and the engine.

Also look at and.

So, Renault Kangu received new body... Who said that looks are not important for commercial vehicles? Renault Kangoo's designers thought differently. The exterior of the car deserves very good reviews. Renault Kangoo can now be called expressive: large aquariums of headlights, a massive front bumper of a non-trivial shape, puffy wheel arches with small cute wheel rims- all this creates a very pleasant image. The picture is complemented by a striking, rounded side glazing line and large vertical brake lights on the fifth door.

The general style of Renault Kanggu is excellent. However, it is advisable to buy a car in bright body colors - this way it looks more expressive. Although there is no hint of aggressiveness or dynamics in it, it is completely unnecessary for such a car. The car looks extravagant and touching. Absolutely in the spirit of French cars.

Getting into the salon, you find a lot of reasons in defense of those owners who bought Renault Kangoo 2019. There is really enough space here, the finish, as well as the selection of materials, is decent, and the look is pleased with many stylish little things and accessories. The view from the driver's seat is not bad - the struts do not cover much space, and the rear-view mirrors have a large area. The fit can be adjusted for yourself - there are plenty of settings.

The seats are soft so as not to get tired on a long journey. The gear lever is located at the tide of the cockpit and it is quite comfortable to reach it. On rear seats in an abundance of free space, and the absence of a transmission tunnel allows three passengers to comfortably accommodate. The trunk, on the other hand, pleases with huge opportunities for transformation, as well as a flat floor formed when the second row of seats is folded.

Of the shortcomings of Renault Kangoo (pictured), it is worth noting the modest basic equipment. For standard configuration relies on a central box for the front row, ABS system, hitch and a few little things. And seat height adjustment, boxing for the second row of seats, cruise control and even air conditioning will have to be ordered for a fee.

Gasoline diesel or electricity

The latest version is equipped with two engine options - gasoline and diesel. A gasoline unit with a volume of 1.6 liters can produce about 100 hp. at 145 N / m of torque, and diesel 1.5 - 86 hp. and 20 n / m, respectively. Renault Kangoo 2019 engines, of course, do not shine with technical characteristics, but their trump card is clearly not that. Their advantages are low consumption fuel. So, the appetite of the engine does not exceed 6 liters per 100 km, and the gasoline engine consumes no more than 9 liters.

But, the main feature of this generation Renault Kangu is the presence new version Renault Kangoo ZE. This variation has a greater length - 4666 mm, which had a positive effect on volumes luggage compartment... It grew to 3.4 cubic meters. m. And the main feature is the electric motor producing 60 hp. and having a power reserve of about 170 km.

On the move, he is pleasant and obedient (see video test drive). Of course, it is not so easy to get sane dynamics from him, but this car was created for completely different purposes. The long-travel informative clutch makes it easy to meter out thrust at the start.

The Renault Kangoo gearbox does not give rise to negative reviews - the gears are engaged clearly, the lever does not dangle, and the suspension has sufficient energy intensity to soften the bumps on the road, and ground clearance allows you to overcome all obstacles, such as speed bumps or small and medium bumps.

The business, started by 3 brothers in France in 1899, turned decades later into a very profitable business Renault is now the 4th largest automaker in the world thanks to its partnership with Nissan in the form of the Renault-Nissan holding company, and today Renault cars are assembled in various parts of the world on different continents. There are Renault assembly plants in Russia, and not even one, because the brand is very popular in our country.

In Russia, Renault is represented by its subsidiary Renault-Russia (known as Avtoframos until 2014), which began operating in our country since 1998. Renault-Russia, therefore, also presents its own car plant, which is in fact a joint venture with the Moscow government. The assembly of several Renault models, most popular among Russians, has been established here. In addition, Renault cars are also assembled at the AvtoVAZ plant - Renault owns 25% of the shares of the largest Russian automaker.

Thus, among the largest car factories where Renault is produced and assembled, the following should be highlighted:

  • The Romanian plant produces cars mainly for the entire European market. Romanian Renault cars can also be found in Russia.
  • AvtoVAZ - cars for Russia are assembled here.
  • Automobile plant "Renault-Russia" near Moscow - assembly of most Renault models is established here, and this is the largest supplier finished machines in Russia
  • Automobile plant in Brazil - from here the cars of the brand do not reach Russia.
  • Indian Automobile Plant - Renault is produced here for the domestic market, as well as for a small number of countries in Asia and Africa.

So, now let's find out where Renault cars are assembled directly by model.

Where is Renault Logan assembled?

The most popular Renault car model in Russia, Logan, has won this status, largely due to its cheapness and overall price / quality ratio as an excellent alternative. Inexpensive price on Renault logan, in turn, is a consequence of the almost full cycle Russian assembly models at two car factories at once: at the Renault-Russia plant near Moscow and at AvtoVAZ.

As for the build quality and which assembly of Renault Logan is better, this question is widely open - only Logans of the 2014 generation are assembled at AvtoVAZ, and in Moscow the model is assembled much longer. In addition, the assembly cycle is deeper precisely in Moscow - only panels and assemblies come here, and welding, assembly, and painting are already produced in Russia. However, despite such a difference in the assembly processes, the drawbacks of both assemblies are practically the same: squeaks and uneven gaps between body parts, although such drawbacks manifest themselves, of course, not on all Logan cars.

Where is Renault Sandero assembled?

Another well-selling car in Russia is Renault Sandero and his "older brother" - Sandero Stepway, began to be sold in our country in 2009; and immediately assembled in Russia. At the Avtoframos plant, now Renault-Russia near Moscow, an almost complete cycle of assembly of Renault Sandero cars has been established.

Where is Renault Duster assembled?

And here is the most popular and one of the most inexpensive (perhaps the most inexpensive among non-Chinese crossovers and not Russian production) crossover and the best-selling Renault SUV not only in Russia, but all over the world. No wonder the car is assembled at all major Renault car factories, including factories in India, Brazil, India and others.

In Russia, Renault Duster is assembled at the same Renault-Russia plant near Moscow. Its conveyors are designed to produce more than 150 thousand cars per year, fully meeting the demand for the model in our country and even the neighboring countries.

Where is Renault Megane assembled?

The oldest model of the company, Megan, has been satisfying car enthusiasts in our country since 1996, when the car replaced the outdated Renault 19. Since then, the car has gone through three generations and even more restyling, and wherever this model was not going! But let's start in order.

The first generation of Megan was a "purebred" French - the car for Russia was assembled at the Douai automobile plant in the north of France. In addition, for some other markets, the first generation of Renault Meganes was also produced in the Spanish city of Palencia. And since 2002, the second generation of the car has seen the light. At first, the car was produced simultaneously in three countries: a sedan in Turkey, a station wagon in Spain, and hatchbacks are still in France, but then, after the redesign, Renault cars were assembled in Turkey - at the Oyak-Renault car plant in the city of Bursa. From that moment until 2011, Megan was supplied to Russia, assembled in Turkey. The third generation was also assembled in Turkey and for some time in Russia - from 2012 to 2013 - at the Avtoframos plant. And, starting in 2014, after the third generation restyling, Megan again began to gather in Russia near Moscow.

Where is Renault Fluence assembled?

One of the youngest models presented at Russian market and in the whole world, Renault Fluence, first saw the light in 2009, but the Russians first got acquainted with the model in 2010, when its production was established at the car plant, which was then called "Avtoframos" (now Renault-Russia). In addition, almost simultaneously with the sales of Russian-assembled Fluence, cars began to be imported to Russia and from Turkey, where they were assembled at the Oyak-Renault automobile plant. And in 2013, after restyling, Fluence for Russia is also assembled in South Korea at the Renault plant.

The new Renault Kangoo belongs to the class of compact minivans, a car with a spacious interior for 5 seats, a trunk with a volume of 660/2 600 liters. A choice of 2 petrol engines is available 1.6 - 102 hp. and diesel dCi 1.5 - 86 hp. Disc brakes front and rear. Volume fuel tank 60 liters. Car weight from 1368 kg.

Renault Canggu's technical characteristics are common with Scenic, the cars are built on a common platform. The car is specially prepared for Russia, high ground clearance, additional noise insulation, anti-gravel coating, energy-intensive suspension, and the engine is ready to start at negative temperatures.

The body of the Kangoo is reliable and safe. According to the EuroNCAP crash test, the car scored 4 stars out of 5.

Kangu's characteristics for diesel engine dCi 1.5 - 86 HP: fuel consumption city / highway - 5.3 l / 100 km. The power reserve on a full tank is 1132 km on the highway. The maximum speed of the car is 158 km / h, acceleration to 100 - 16 seconds for manual transmission.

Kangu specifications for 1.6 - 102 HP engine: fuel consumption city / highway - 7.9 l / 100 km. The power reserve on a full tank is 759 km on the highway. The maximum speed of the car is 170 km / h, acceleration to 100 - 13 seconds for manual transmission.

I will remember my extreme trip along the Baltic highway in winter 2006 for a long time. The track deeply squeezed by heavy wagons turned out to be too wide for my vehicle, which at that time acted "Renault-Kangu": the "heel" simply slid in the grooves beaten by the tracks, like soap in a wet bath. In order not to be in a ditch, I involuntarily had to pose as Gronholm at rally "Sweden", actively turning the steering wheel in order to force the car to go forward with its nose and not with any other parts of the body. And what were these Frenchmen only thinking when they decided to sell their cargo-and-passenger van in Russia? The narrow "heel" is ideal for the narrow streets of European towns, but not for most of our roads, infinitely far from ideal.

So, in my opinion, the main advantage of the freshest "Canggu" in comparison with its predecessor is precisely in the track increased by more than 10 cm, thanks to which the car holds on to the road much more confidently - even if it is mercilessly riddled by trucks. Moreover, being built on the "Reno-Nissan" platform C (the same one that underlies the Renault-Megan and Nissan-Qashqai), the car completely got rid of the manner of its ancestor to jump over bumps, like a tennis ball, and even without a full load, it passes the areas corroded by potholes and cracks quite smoothly. The chassis is quite suitable for our roads.

Slow delivery service

The only possible for the Russian "Kangu" power point consisting of 84-strong gasoline engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox, completely unsuitable for long journeys. Reseeding from a 120-horsepower "Peugeot" to a "heel", I even doubted its health. The long-travel clutch pedal and the vague gearbox mechanism are still half the trouble. Much worse is the fact that Renault categorically does not want to accelerate. And this is actually very strange, because in its former incarnation, even with 75 “horses” under the hood, even with 75 “horses”, “Kangu” ran very fast.

In addition, usually passenger versions of cargo vans inherit from these "short" - with close gear ratios- boxes that allow you to briskly start even with a heavy backpack on your shoulders. But no matter how I tried to stir up the Kanga, diligently stomping on the gas pedal, the motor spinning into the red zone only snapped back at me, stubbornly refusing to accelerate the car faster. Such inhibited behavior of "Renault" not only completely eradicates any desire to overtake at speeds over a hundred, but in the urban environment it puts you on a par with "Gazelles" and other purely economic equipment. However, do not think that I loaded the Kanga with full ballast, forcing him to carry the maximum allowed 525 kg. In the car, I was in splendid isolation, and I weigh exactly five times less than the maximum permissible load.

But in a thoroughly grown (180 mm long and 160 mm wide) Renault, you just want to immerse something furniture! In addition, an irresistible craving for self-help is provoked by the rear doors-vests, which allow you to drive up close to the ramp, as well as a hefty trunk - 70 liters larger than its predecessor. However, due to the weak heart of "Kangu", I still would not advise to expose him to excessive stress.

Eh, where can I get a more powerful motor?

All the best for children!

I think the most suitable place to work for this car would be a small private school. As you know, Kinders must be transported carefully and slowly - and our Renault has succeeded in this. Moreover, “Kangu” looks very positive and funny: big-eyed and high-browed, he would have passed for the character of the cartoon “Cars” even without additional makeup. And in the cabin, it will be pleasant not only to the driver himself, who, I have no doubt, will appreciate the comfort of fit and the quality of the finish, but also to the younger generation. Thanks to the huge area of glass in the "Cangu" you sit, as if in an aquarium, watching other cars sail around with different-colored fish. If the landscape outside the windows does not inspire, then you can turn your gaze to the interior decoration - toy-looking air conditioner twists, a center console with a protruding tongue support for the gear lever and a bright spot of the information display. The instrument panel is decorated in the most cheerful way: with the onset of dusk, the flattened top and bottom speedometer looks like a tangerine, decorated with numbers at someone's whim. And what exactly "Kangu" is capable of conquering both large and small passengers is the incredible number of drawers, shelves and pockets that abound in the car's interior. And all of them are surprisingly sensible: for example, in a shelf above the sofa, reminiscent of a bread bin, you can easily remove three school backpacks.

Of course, any school caretaker will be puzzled by the question, is it worth the candle and how much will the purchase of "Kangu" be justified? Alas, at a price of 580 thousand rubles for the basic version, Renault turns out to be more expensive than the competing FIAT-Doblo and Citroen-Berlingo - by 49,000 and 32,000 rubles, respectively. However, it is quite possible that the initial overpayment can be reimbursed during the operation: the factory warranty for Kangu is valid for three years or 100,000 kilometers from the date of purchase, while Doblo and Berlingo's warranty is limited to only two years.
