ZAZ Forza- this is the name for the Ukrainian market of the Chery A13 model, which for a short time was sold with us with a Chinese name. The car was created by Chery Automobile back in 2009, and its mass production in China began in 2010. According to Chery Vice President Ju Biren, more than 100,000 A13 have already been sold in China.

The Chinese company is rightfully proud of Chery A13, since they have already created this car on their own, without borrowing and copying world analogues.

Italian designers from the Torino Design studio were involved in the development, and the harmony and modern trends of automotive fashion are already felt in the appearance of the car.

Engines of the new generation ACTECO were developed in cooperation with the Austrian company AVL, as a result of which it was possible to achieve their compliance with Euro-4 standards, and in the future also Euro-5. And the specific power indicators are impressive. So, the ZAZ Forza engine with a working volume of 1497 cc. produces 109 hp. at 6000 rpm, and a torque of 140 Nm.

As a result, Chery A13 in its characteristics is already strikingly different from the Chinese cars of the "first wave".

Strategy
ZAZ entered the crisis of 2008-2009 very quickly. The plant had to be stopped, as consumer demand in Ukraine collapsed literally in a matter of months at times. There is no trace of the former volume of full-scale production of 150 thousand. In 2009, ZAZ produced 43.9 thousand cars, including the assembly of SKD, and in 2010 - 42.2 thousand cars.

The only hope was for export to Russia. But here, too, the plant had to face an unforeseen circumstance. General Motors in 2009 refused to buy for sale in Russia Chevrolet cars Lanos. It was urgent to build a sales network from scratch, to start implementation on their own. I had to enter the markets of the CIS countries with a new name - ZAZ Chance. This partially allowed the plant to be loaded up, but as before, more than 50% of the capacity remained vacant. By that time, the production of "Tavriya" had already been curtailed, and "Slavuta" was sold extremely difficult due to high overhead costs, although it was the most affordable car on the market.

Even then it was clear that only export could save the plant. ZAZ urgently needed another car, with which it could enter not only the Ukrainian market, but also sell it in other CIS countries. In 2009, ZAZ began SKD-assembly of KIA C'eed, and the plant's shareholders were in talks with the Korean corporation for full-scale production. At first, the prospects seemed to be good, but KIA Motors staked on factories in Russia, and was very reluctant to agree to contract assembly.

In parallel, Chery experienced difficulties in organizing production in the CIS. This company was one of the first to come to Russia, was actively developing, in order to reduce the cost, it organized the assembly of its cars at the Avtotor Kaliningrad plant, and was ready to build its own plant in Russia. But the expansion of Chinese cars was opposed by the powerful lobby of the Russian auto industry. From the beginning, Chery was not given the opportunity to receive benefits and build its own plant, then the assembly contract was broken by Avtotor, and the distributor was also replaced.

Chery began to look for new car factories, and was forced to organize production in Taganrog, where the local manufacturer sold part of the cars under its Vortex brand, and gave part to the Chery dealer network. Chinese automakers also negotiated with the Belarusian authorities, promising to build a plant in Minsk, but then feared that the deterioration of political relations between Russia and Belarus would leave them without a main market.

All this time, negotiations with ZAZ were going on, and gradually Chery's positions became more and more loyal, which ultimately resulted in a strategic partnership agreement. ZAZ got the right to produce Chery car A13, which will be sold on the Ukrainian market under the name ZAZ Forza. For the Russian market, by order of Chery itself, ZAZ will supply cars under the Chery brand.

The agreement assumes that ZAZ will localize more than 50% of the added value finished car, including will carry out the assembly of the engine and gearboxes.

Thus, the partners got what they wanted. ZAZ is another model for loading production and selling on the Ukrainian market under own name... Chery - access to the Ukrainian market, and most importantly - to Russia, since Ukrainian-made cars can be delivered to Russia duty-free. The official documents mention the production figure of 10,000 vehicles in 2011, of which 2,500 units will be sold in Ukraine, and 7,500 in Russia. But the capacity for the Forza project is more significant. In the current operating mode, the plant can produce up to 8 cars per hour, which is equivalent to 24 thousand cars per year.

Investments in the ZAZ Forza project amounted to about $ 30 million, moreover, according to the Honorary President of UkrAvto Corporation Tariel Vasadze, the partners divided the costs in half.

Both ZAZ and Chery do not hide the fact that as soon as Ukraine enters the free trade zone with the EU, it is possible to supply cars to the European Union.

During the presentation of ZAZ Forza, the vice-president of Chery Automobile Ju Biren said that he was satisfied with the cooperation with UkrAvto and ZAZ, and the partners are already discussing the second model, the production of which will be mastered by ZAZ. She will be called in 3-4 months.

Judging by the rhetoric, ZAZ finally has a strategic partner. But it is too early to talk about it completely. How many were there before? Daewoo, General Motors, AvtoVAZ, KIA, and even Daimler-Chrysler. ZAZ has already carried out full-scale production of Opel Astra, Lada-21093 \ 99, planned the production of an E-class car, etc. But only Lanos was able to keep production.

An alliance with Chery could be very promising, given that it is one of the fastest growing companies in the world. Chery already speaks of sales of 1 million cars, although 4-5 years ago it produced 200-300 thousand cars, mainly Amulet and QQ. Now Chery already has its own engineering center, modern motor production, and several factories. ZAZ can become a partner of Chery in the CIS, and possibly the first bridge to enter the European Union. But there are many political obstacles along this rosy path, so it is too early to draw conclusions. Obviously, ZAZ simply did not have an alternative to cooperation with Chinese manufacturers... In post-crisis conditions, only they were ready to share their technologies with ZAZ.

According to the Deputy Head of the Management Board of ZAZ CJSC Yuri Plechun, production initially starts with a high degree of localization - by April the figure of 51.7% will be reached. At ZAZ, they not only mastered welding of bodies, painting and assembly, but they also produce a lot of equipment, assemble engines and a gearbox.

"Is it hard to say that there is more Ukrainian or Chinese in Forza?" - says Yuri Plechun. “European cars now also have a lot of Chinese components. Before starting production, we invited suppliers and together with them we developed a localization program. But it is not an end in itself for us to put Ukrainian-made components on Forza, if it is profitable to buy them in Europe, we will buy, ”continues Mr. Plechun.

“Due to the economy, we do not stamp body parts yet, as it is very expensive. We get all stamping from China. But 6 small parts of the engine compartment are already being made at ZAZ. "

ZAZ has completely mastered the production of plastic bumpers for Forza, almost all interior equipment is also made by ZAZ: the dashboard, door upholstery, ceiling, maps, seats, individual suspension elements. At Forza, Ukrainian exhaust systems produced by the ZAZ-Bosal JV, partly the power supply system, will have Ukrainian tires, disks, batteries, and air conditioner parts.

In the welding shop for Forza, a separate line was installed, where while the welding is carried out by hand. In the main conductor, the body elements are joined and the body geometry is formed. Then the wings are hung on it, the doors and the finished body are sent to the paint shop.


Forza is dyed on the same line as Lanos. Treatment with anti-corrosion primer is carried out by dipping in a bathtub, after which the body is dried and sent to a chamber where robots paint Forza in 10 different colors. For the degree of protection of the body against corrosion, Forza is not inferior to Lanos.

After quality control of painting, the body is sent to the assembly shop, where on the conveyor, from post to post, the car is assembled. On the assembly line, Forza is mixed with Lanos, but thanks to electronic system equipment, the assembler clearly knows which part of which configuration needs to be installed on a particular car.

After the assembly is completed, ZAZ Forza enters the diagnostic line, and completes the production cycle with an obligatory run along the test track on the territory of the plant.

If during the trip, deviations are revealed, then the car will be sent for revision. Prepare cars for handover to dealers at the final acceptance area.

The production technology of ZAZ Forza does not differ from that already known to us from Lanos. At ZAZ they promise both the appropriate quality and its control. Yuriy Plechun is proud that almost all of the car's interior is produced in Ukraine, which will guarantee its durability. New ZAZ Forza even smell like Ukrainian women - they joke at the factory.

While ZAZ Forza with a liftback body rolls off the assembly line (the trunk lid rises together with rear window), and already in May, production of models with a hatchback body will begin. There will be only one engine for now - a petrol 1.5 liter (109 hp). Transmission - mechanical 5-speed. By the way, both the engine and the gearbox are assembled in Melitopol (MeMZ), but according to Yuri Plechun, the plant has already begun to produce individual parts for new engines. So, in Melitopol, they make inserts, covers, flanges, and soon they will begin to produce gears for a gearbox. The ZAZ Forza engine complies with Euro-4 standards, and with minor modifications it reaches Euro-5 standards.

They talk at ZAZ and about robotic box programs for Forza, but no specific dates have been announced yet.

At first, ZAZ Forza will be available in 3 trim levels: Base Plus, Comfort and Luxury. The price starts at UAH 79,900. for the initial version, but for this money the car has air conditioning, power steering, ABS, driver airbag, electric drive of all windows, heating and electric control of outside mirrors. The car is initially equipped with high-profile tires of dimension 185 \ 60R15. Warranty - 3 years or 60 thousand km.

ZAZ Forza has already appeared in car dealerships, but it is still difficult to say what kind of car it is. During a visit to ZAZ, we managed to drive a couple of laps on the test track, and we are not ready to take the liberty of giving estimates on the basis of this trip. Now we can confidently assert that ZAZ Forza will become one of the most popular cars for the coming years in Ukraine, which Lanos once became. The era of Forza begins at ZAZ.

Initially, the car was supposed to be the successor to the ZAZ Chance / Sens, but in production the car served as a successor to the discontinued Opel Astra G OTGF69. The liftback is a largely localized version of the Chery A-13 with some trim changes: for example head unit replaced with "single-din" one without (only radio and mini-USB).

In Russia, where cars produced at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant (Ukraine) are sold, the name Chery Bonus is used. Since December 2011, the official sales of ZAZ FORZA (sedan and 5-door hatchback) in Belarus have begun.

ZAZ Forza is a class B car. It is presented in the budget segment. Manufacturers advertise it with loud words: bright design, powerful "heart", quality details... But is it really so? Let's figure it out.

Driver reviews are different. There are positive ones, but you can also find frankly negative ones. Of course, a cheap car has its drawbacks, but they are covered by the low cost. The buyer will have to decide for himself whether he is ready to put up with them.

Briefly about the car

Hardly anyone will argue that the most popular cars are representatives of the budget segment. An alternative to the Chinese copies is the Forza model, produced on the Conveyor line was launched in 2010. The manufacturer thought that this car would become the successor to the already familiar ZAZ Chance / Sens. But as time has shown, it filled the empty niche that was vacated after the Opel Astra G was discontinued.

The model was developed by Austrian designers. Chery A-13 was used as a basis. Due to the fact that the assembly was carried out at a Ukrainian plant in the city of Zaporozhye, the final cost of the car turned out to be quite attractive, which made it possible to compete with such famous models like Priora, Kalina, Grant lineup Lada.

Body features

The manufacturer presented several versions of ZAZ Forza: a hatchback and a sedan. As for the first type of body, its dimensions:

  • 4139 mm - length;
  • 1492 mm - height;
  • 1686 mm - width.

The sedan has almost the same dimensions. It differs only in length. In the sedan, it is 130 mm (4269 mm) larger.

The curb weight (1275 kg) and wheelbase (2527 mm) are the same in these cars. And here ground clearance more in a sedan than in a hatchback. The first has a clearance of 370 mm, and the second - 300 mm.

Appearance ZAZ Forza car can hardly be called original, since Chery A-13 was taken as the basis for this model. All the same streamlined shapes, exaggerated details, a voluminous bumper, the shape of a radiator grill are already familiar to domestic drivers. However, it cannot be said that the car has not been finalized in terms of design. All details are harmoniously combined with each other, making up a complete overall composition.

The appearance of the car is not the main selection criterion. Most drivers pay attention to technical specifications, in particular, the "stuffing", which is hidden under the hood. ZAZ Forza is equipped with only one type of power plant - ACTECO SQR477F. For its development, employees of the AVL company were involved. The motor is based on four cylinders. The volume of the unit is 1.5 liters. The maximum power of this power plant is 109 hp. with. The torque indicator is 140 Nm.

Front wheel drive model. This unit is equipped with one type of transmission - manual transmission. At the front of the car, the McPherson suspension and disc brake system... But at the back there is a spring semi-independent type with drum brakes.

Driving performance: reviews

The ZAZ Forza car gets not the best good feedback to the aerodynamic properties. Drivers believe that power point does not correspond to the characteristics declared by the manufacturer. During acceleration, a characteristic sound is heard in the cabin, which indicates poor sound insulation. The hum appears as soon as the car gains about three thousand revolutions.

The maximum limit of ZAZ Forza is a speed of 160 km / h, but the drivers assure that they accelerated to no more than 130-140 km / h. When it comes to fuel costs, this model is not economical. In the city, it consumes up to 10 liters, and in the combined cycle - 7.2 liters.

The driver will not be amazed by the acceleration rate either. From a place the car will pick up the first "hundred square meters", spending almost 12 seconds.

This model the car is considered the cheapest of those presented on Russian market... It is worth noting that it even surpassed the legendary Lada series. Of course, in terms of demand, the latter are still in the lead, but in terms of cost, Forza is beyond competition. In car dealerships, this instance is presented with a price tag from 390 to 420 thousand rubles. The choice of a complete set influences the formation of the cost. Three packages are offered: Base (standard set of options), Comfort and Lux.

I must say right away that the car was only photographed in the parking lot, it was not possible to take pictures during the course, all because: firstly, I was driving, secondly, the salon manager said that it was impossible to take pictures! But still a lot of photos were collected, and as usual there is a video file.

So, it was developed by the Chinese company Chery, and is called Chery A 13. Now a car assembled in Ukraine is supplied to Russia, I already wrote about this. I will not repeat myself, but I will just remind you that Forza, in Ukraine, is called the killer of Lada.

While the manager was busy in the salon, looking for keys and filling out papers for a test drive, I took the opportunity and took a picture of the car.

The body looks pretty good, the front is elongated, the rear is short and sharply cut. This is done on sports cars, but to call it a sports car, the language does not turn.

I must say the parts are fitted to each other, very well, the gaps are even, no distortions are noticed, as is usually the case on Chinese cars. The only thing that caught my eye personally was the protruding plastic wheel rims, not very beautiful.

But in defense, I will say the metal is not as toy metal as on the former Chinese cars, this is definitely a plus. It is also a point, welded seam quite often, which strengthens the body is also a plus. I even climbed into the wheel arches. Here is a photo

The rubber really disappointed, it is tough and of an unknown manufacturer for me. It makes a lot of noise when driving, even not at high speed. So definitely change. And what did you want "Forza" - very budget car and no one will put expensive tires on it, but in our review there is only the truth. Here is a photo of the name of the rubber. The nameplates on the rear trunk also bear the Chery name, and not the ZAZ as expected.

On the long, slightly slicked front, there were fog lights in front, but there was no radio, why ?! Paradox!

In general, the exterior did not leave any negative, everything was done according to the mind.

The cabin is spacious, the front and rear passengers will feel good, their legs do not rest on anywhere, so the long road is not terrible, you can sit comfortably.

The front seats are well done, and there is even some lateral support. The material of the seats is two-colored, leaves much to be desired, thin, it seems to me that it will not last long. See for yourself.

The plastic is very tough and budget-friendly; when moving, some of the panels already rattle and this new car, also crickets were heard from the continuation of the torpedo, in the area of ​​the parking brake. It is felt that there is no sound insulation at all, even with the windows closed, the road is perfectly audible, as is the engine. The gear lever is pleasantly in the hand and has a leatherette cover. As I already wrote, there was no radio tape recorder, the middle console has three adjusting knobs - the position of the air supply flap, the adjustment of warm and cold air, the power of the air supply of the stove / air conditioner. The steering wheel is made of cheap plastic, but it sits well in the hand. The doors close with a bang, it seems to me that in our cans it is about the same, gluing is needed.

There are buttons on the driver's door: control of all power windows, unlocking the trunk and gas tank flap, as well as adjusting the mirrors. Not bad!

The trunk is large, considering that this is a liftback, I think it will not be a problem to carry oversized cargo.

Engine and suspension

I can tell you that the engine has a pretty good traction, put pressure on the gas and the car accelerates quickly, 1.5 liters. and power (109 hp). The only thing, it seemed to me, the speeds are a little stretched, but there are no complaints about switching on, the box works out for five! Also, the engine is noisy, everything is perfectly audible in the cabin! The suspension is rigid, on small irregularities and rails, and I specially directed the car to those areas where there were rails, the car shakes, the plastic of the interior creaks and makes friends with crickets. In general, definitely gluing and wheel arch liners, otherwise it will be impossible to drive.

The car is equipped with a 1.5 liter SQR477F engine, as well as mechanical box QR515MHA gears developed based on the latest technologies... SQR477F engine - vertical, water cooling, four-cylinder, linear arrangement of cylinders, four-stroke with one camshaft and electronic multi-point fuel injection. The SQR477F engine has an ideal performance and a reliable design, in particular in terms of emissions and noise levels. When assembling and maintenance the engine, the requirements given in this manual must be adhered to, as failure to observe them may result in malfunction or even damage to the engine. The SQR477F engine features four valves per cylinder, namely, each cylinder has two intake valves and two exhaust valves. The intake valve head has a larger area than the exhaust valve head.

Disconnect the units and parts of the vehicle systems. Drain oil from engine crankcase and transmission case.

Place the cart under the power unit. Remove the subframe mounting bolts (1), (2). Remove the bolts securing the front support member of the power unit (3). Remove the radiator support bolts (4).

Install the trolley with the power unit, subframe, front beam on the lift. Raise with a lift until the silent blocks of the subframe and the front beam line up with the holes in the body brackets and secure:

  • the radiator beam with bolts (4), Mcr. = 45 N * m (40-50 N * m);
  • the front beam of the power unit with bolts (3), Mcr. = 130 N * m (120-140 N * m).
  • subframe with bolts (1), (2); Mcr. = 130 N * m (120-140 N * m).

Remove the cylinder head cover bolts using a 10 socket wrench. Remove the cylinder head cover.

Remove the two bolts from the upper timing cover. Remove the upper timing cover. Remove the lower timing cover with seals.
