The hatchback will soon appear at most Ravon dealers. This is the fourth model available from the new brand, after the Ravon Matiz, the new Nexia and the Gentra. If the most affordable Matiz hatch has a rather old design, a low-power engine and only mechanical box, the more expensive Ravon R2 is a modern compact car with a more powerful engine and automatic transmission.

Like the rest of the Ravon models, which are essentially redesigned state employees of Daewoo or Chevrolet, the R2 is no exception. This is well known to everyone Chevrolet spark ... Under the new name Ravon R2, the car will become the most affordable car with a gun. Low price, great passive safety and a fairly comfortable and practical salon will certainly take a worthy place in our market.

Externally turned R2 differs from the Spark in a different grille and slightly modified bumpers. Otherwise, this is the same Spark in the back of the M300, which was shown to the public back in 2009. By the way, in Korea today you can buy a model Daewoo matiz Creative (M300), which differs from the Ravon R2 in only one detail - the logo on the radiator grill. If the Chevrolet Spark is sold with two main power units, a 1-liter engine and a 5-speed manual, or a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and a 4-band automatic transmission, then the Ravon P2 will delight with a more powerful modification. That is, a 1.2-liter engine with 85 hp. and automatic transmission. You ask why there is no mechanics, the answer will follow from the field of marketing. The 4-cylinder 16-valve engine with a volume of 1249 cc with automatic transmission accelerates the R2 model to a hundred in 12.4 seconds. The equipment of the base hatchback includes front airbags, ABS, immobilizer, daytime running lights, audio system with MP3 and USB input, and two speakers. Also, there are more advanced versions of Optimum and Elegant for 678,000 and 697,000 rubles. respectively.

Daewoo Matiz from the early 2000s, quickly gained popularity - compact, economical, and most importantly, very inexpensive, it attracted both novice drivers and all kinds of couriers and pizza carriers. But time passed, and over a decade and a half, the model became morally obsolete: modern motorists are accustomed to a completely different level of dynamics, safety and comfort.

Three configurations are available for Ravon R2, which at the time of publication of the article are sold at a price of 439, 479 and 509 thousand rubles, respectively.

And now it's time to say goodbye to Matiz: he was replaced by Ravon R2, built on the third generation Chevrolet Spark platform. Although outwardly he does not flaunt "bells and whistles" such as LED lights on the fourth generation Spark, but it looks modern in the style of transformers from the films of Michael Bay.

The model has only one engine / transmission combination: the R2 has enough modern motor S-TEC II 1249 cc, 85 hp This is more than most sparks, and very good for the class of urban compacts. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic Aisin AW 80-40LE. A version with mechanics is not provided - the creators considered that it was useless for a city car, moreover, in many respects focused on women.

The 1249 cc engine with 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing produces 85 hp. and 112 Nm. For an urban runabout, this is a lot.

The R2 design is almost one-to-one inherited from the Chevrolet Spark. The third generation of Spark appeared in 2009 and still looks quite modern.

The interior of Ravon R2 is relatively simple, except that the instrument cluster inherited from Chevrolet is unusual - the tachometer is placed on a liquid crystal screen with an on-board computer. It will be comfortable for a driver of any size to sit, only a tall landing will seem tall. And there is nowhere to put the left leg - due to the proximity of the arch front wheel area for it is not provided. Another disadvantage can be noted not the best visibility - thick beveled front struts can hide a pedestrian when turning. But safety is at a height - already in the basic configuration there are two airbags, and in our car there are 6 of them - and this at a cost of just over 500 thousand rubles! But there is no stabilization system in any version, which is strange - it would be useful to many novice drivers.

Interior materials are simple, but adequate to the cost. The passenger airbag warning light would be better extinguished after starting the engine - in motion it is perceived as a malfunction indicator and distracts from the road.

You can't expect much from the back row and trunk - in the city compact they play a secondary role. Two adult passengers in the back will fit, albeit without much comfort, but there is hardly enough space for luggage for four. It's good that there is a full-fledged spare wheel.

In the back row, the width and height are not bad for the dimensions of the car, but there is little entertainment - only power windows, which are only in the maximum configuration.

The R2 trunk is narrow but deep enough. If the volume of 170 liters is not enough, the rear seats will have to be folded.

DRIVE

Ravon R2 was very pleased with the movement - on the one hand, it retained the maneuverability and ease of parking, typical for cars of its class. On the other hand, unlike the same Matiz, thanks to the adequate dynamics, you do not feel defective in the flow. At least from the traffic lights, the little car starts very briskly. In part, the feeling of dynamics is added by the perky roar of the 1.2 engine - the machine on acceleration drives it into the zone high revs, for 4-6 thousand, where it gives out maximum torque and power. And even if after 80 km / h the agility gradually fades away, and sometimes four gears in the transmission are not enough - unlike many other budget compacts, the feeling of a full-fledged car Ravon p2 gives. It is a pity that the downstream neighbors are not always in solidarity - they are accustomed to the fact that unhurried inept people drive such cars, so there are few people who want to miss Ravon r2.

The site team has been trying for a long time to find the button for turning on the front fog lights. It turned out that on R2 they are connected as DRLs, and they work when the dipped beam is off.

Summing up, we can say that Ravon p2 is superior to Matiz in all respects - dynamics, security, prestige. Of course, the cost is no longer so attractive - the R2 price is close to the budget models of class B. The price list often changes - depending on the configuration, the Ravon R2 will be asked for from 439 to 509 thousand rubles, and from the new year it will still grow. However, the model is still the most affordable car with automatic transmission on the Russian market, so it will definitely find its fans among novice drivers.

Data on ground clearance the manufacturer does not give, but for any situation in the city there is enough cross-country ability - thanks to the short wheelbase and small overhangs.

In the city, a car is like a car. Do not suddenly rip off the spot, but it rides confidently, the steering wheel is not like a deflated ball. Let's just say that it is unlikely that you will be able to race with someone, but it does its job. And the machine (already in the basic configuration) does not bother in traffic jams. And he also drifts fervently, in the video I even admitted that it was better than sex, sorry, there was a moment's insanity.

A small car does not mean a toy at all. For example, I - a healthy guy with a height of 185 cm - easily fit into the Ravon R2 driver's seat, I don't cling to the ceiling with my head and even find a place for my left leg that is not used. Yes, the Spark in its current version is offered only with an automatic transmission, with an eye on the potential audience.

As you know, the R2 is nothing more than the Chevrolet Spark T300 or Daewoo Matiz in its third generation. The machine at one time turned out to be successful and was replicated by GM all over the world - from Korea and India to the States and Canada.

And what if I were a student at that time - I would definitely pay attention to Spark. But it didn't work out. And not only me. Domestic youth turned out to be either very poor or spoiled by used cars of a higher class. She was not attracted by the flashy colors (even now there are 11 to choose from), nor the motorcycle-style outboard tidy, nor the interior trim in body color. It would seem that for one or two people such happiness is above the roof, moreover, this "mini" was equipped with both "mechanics" and "automatic", and did not differ much in appetite.

By the way, what kind of "machine" is there? Quite a classic 4-speed Aisin AW 80-40LE box, paired with an 85-horsepower 1.2-liter 16-valve B12D2 Uzbek assembly. The couple, by the way, are extremely noisy - not a particularly euphonic howl power unit drowns out everything with intensive acceleration - both the radio and the noise from the arches. Moreover, it is not only the engine that makes noise, but the bundle - if you press down the "gas" in neutral, the sound will be completely different. Well, okay - after all, small cars are rarely properly soundproofed - take the same premium Smart, ...

Since comfort is objectively a little disappointing, maybe everything is great with economy? Alas, but once again, in practice, I confirmed the well-known thesis that the working volume of an engine is not directly related to its appetite. Fuel consumption in creeping traffic jams is still about "ten", on the highway - about 8 liters per hundred. But with parking, especially if this is a courtyard of a sleeping area, it has become much easier: both the size allows it, and R2 is not deprived of parking sensors.

What else is the advantage? So the price is the same! It starts at 439,000 rubles for the 2016 model (509,000 for the top version), and for this money the car is equipped with almost all the bells and whistles that are in "adult" cars. However, the design, in spite of the 8-year-old age, is quite up-to-date.

Almost like an adult

Yes, while in the twilight I found the seat heating buttons, driven under the center console and not illuminated, as well as the power window buttons, the interior was already warmed up. But at the time of the search, 4 airbags, air conditioning, on-board computer with a separate block of keys for searching and controlling it, a telephone Bluetooth-module and many nice little things in the form of slots for coins to the left of the steering wheel, cup holders, shelves and compartments: both in the doors and on the front panel. The Ravon R2 is quite light - 1,054 kg with a driver and a 35-liter tank, while its suspension is rigid, and the engine power is even abundant. On a dry and flat road, you can play pranks, but in winter it is not worth pursuing a passport 12.4 to a hundred. There is no ESP stabilization system on it, and with an unloaded rear end, you can send the baby to skid with an imprudent maneuver in a split second.

The electric power steering is well tuned to effectively maneuver in city traffic. Small 15-inch wheels 165x60 perfectly obey the slightest turn of the steering wheel. But this is still a smooth road.


On the slightest potholes, the Ravon R2 jumps, changing its trajectory. The rear end with a semi-independent beam is especially unstable, and the front MacPherson strut is too rigid. The height of 1,522 mm, which is considerable for such a short base, does not add stability either.


You can minimize some imperfections in movement with the help of additional automatic transmission modes. For example, in "I" mode it is more dynamic to accelerate or slow down - 4th gear is blocked, and in "L" with blocking also 3rd - crawl along a snowy rise or, without resorting to brakes, move off when it is completely slippery. Ravon R2 is one of the cheapest in its class. All parts are like Sparka, there is much more space inside than Matiz. An excellent four-speed automatic transmission and, most importantly, the engine is now 1300! Four cylinders (not three as in the previous body).

Of the minuses: not everyone will like the appearance, but there is no dispute about tastes. Expensive parts, but for what? A little "goats" on the bumps - you reduce the tire pressure from the standard 2.3 to 1.8 and is already much better. An unheated engine runs a little noisy, but after warming up everything is "ok".

Ravon P2 is just a nimble little bomb. Nimble, agile, gets under way briskly, overtaking on the track - without fear and problems. I can't get enough of it. Rides smoothly, confident. Ground clearance - 145. There was a rather high machine before it, and I thought the end would come quickly front bumper, but no - for half a year I have never touched anything, ugh ugh ugh.

I rode it 200 km from the car dealership to the house in December in one jacket, because the stove is fire! And the fire isn't just in the front of the car. In cold weather it starts up without any problems at all.

Of the minuses, a small trunk - 170 liters (three full packages), in addition, there is no shelf in the trunk. Between the spare wheel and the trunk itself there is some kind of rug ... Very sensitive ABS. It is impossible to brake on our roads, it blurs all the time. And in winter you need to get used to driving with it. There are no mirrors in the visors (minus in the opinion of female passengers).

Consumption in the city of 9 liters (I like to drive). For half a year, no problems arose, ugh, ugh, ugh. A little more than 6,000 km have been covered.

Where can I buy?

Today I have driven just over 9,000 km. The flight is normal. Satisfied completely - size, dynamics, interior. I am very pleased with the interior, suspension and overtaking kickdown ...

I couldn't find a comfortable position in the driver's seat. And vertically, and horizontally, and longitudinally - the back grows numb. On the forums, opinions were divided: who will not praise, and who cannot "agree" with the seat.

Review of the new Ravon R2 1.3 AT 2016

In general, the car left a positive impression. I liked the balanced motor very much, at idle it is not felt at all, only there is no sound insulation (at 40-50 km / h everything is already heard). We have already managed to make the anticorrosive and put the fenders in the back, it became quieter (well, probably at the level of budget Chinese / Koreans). We will also make soundproofing.

The music is still crap, then the speakers will also go for replacement. And in everything else, very decent car, nothing rattles on the bumps, does not shake, rides smoothly, does not blow away with the wind (except for jokes, the machine is small).

Although the automatic transmission is 4-speed, it is 3000 rpm - 115 km / h. Fuel consumption is low - now in the region of 8 liters, the city / highway ratio is 70/30. the trunk is small, but for trips to Auchan or MEGA it will do. There are ISO FIX mounts, the backlight is soft, not intrusive, as in the Chinese for example.

I liked the tidy, everyone writes that it is like a motorcycle, but I liked it, on the contrary, only the speedometer has an arrow, the rest is digital. There is only a pointer and an informant about the engine warm-up, you do not understand when you can go.

The complete set was taken to the maximum, without roof rails it somehow does not look. And so, somehow it looks even higher, a kind of small jeep. The wheels are narrow, 155 mm wide, for the winter we will take 175 mm, fortunately they enter the arch and do not rub anywhere.

There is one more thing. The box dulls on switching, for example, from 4th to 3rd, but then I heard there are masters who install a different firmware for the engine and automatic transmission, and the problem disappears.
