The gearbox is a rather complex mechanism of any car, and this is especially true for automatic transmissions. Car owners need to regularly monitor the condition of this unit, servicing it in a timely manner, changing ATF and oil filter.

ATF replacement intervals

According to the regulations established by the automaker, the oil change in the Honda SRV box should be carried out every 30-35 thousand km for automatic transmissions and up to 60 thousand for manual transmissions. At the same time, under operating conditions in our country, it is better to reduce these periods by at least one and a half times.

Reasons that indicate the need to add or replace fluid in the transmission include the following:

  1. Shocks when shifting gears.
  2. Stuttering when pressing the gas pedal.
  3. Various slippage, rebounding, etc.

What kind of oil to fill?

The oil in the automatic gearbox Honda SRV is an ATF-Z1 fluid, which is a special mineral fluid. It was used in all cars from 1995 to 2011. After 2011, a new oil was poured into the automatic transmission - ATF-DW1.

Changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 3 or 1 is performed according to approximately the same instructions. The difference is that for the first generation, 3.5 liters of lubricant are needed, and for the third generation, a little more than 4 liters.

As for the manual transmission, to change the oil in them, you need to use the original lubricating fluid- Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF).

Tools for the job

To change the oil, you will need the following set of items:

  • transmission oil ATF Z1, ATF DW-1 or MTF;
  • purification filter with number 25430-PLR-003;
  • a seal for the automatic transmission plug under the number 90471-PX4-000;
  • the container into which you will pour the old grease;
  • a set of keys;
  • rags.

Instructions for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV

There is nothing difficult in changing the oil in a Japanese car Honda SRV of the first or third generation. You must follow this instruction:

Automatic transmission is one of the most technically complex components of any car. An automatic transmission always requires increased attention and proper maintenance, and if the filter of the box is also changed within the terms set by the manufacturer of the automatic transmission, the box will last its entire service life without requiring overhaul... Changing the oil in the automatic transmission in the Honda SRV 3 can be done independently.

Features of automatic transmission Honda CRV 3-1

The third generation of CR-V crossovers is equipped with two gearbox options:

  • mechanical 6-speed;
  • 5-speed automatic transmission.

Automatic transmission, controlled by the original Grade Logic control unit, ensures smooth change of transmission stages and low fuel consumption, in comparison with "mechanics". The box ECU shifts gears based on the readings of numerous sensors:

  • speed;
  • engine speed;
  • slope;
  • pedal positions, etc.

All this allows you to change gears in an optimal way.

The automatic transmission was designed by Honda engineers. It uses special materials designed for high temperatures and "harsh" operating conditions. But to ensure smooth operation boxes it needs to be replaced regularly transmission oil... Symptoms indicate the need for an immediate oil change:

  • "Kicks" of the box when depressing the accelerator pedal;
  • overgas, frequent slippage;
  • felt when driving;
  • and other behavioral anomalies.

But this happens already with worn-out oil, which has not changed for a long time. If the replacement is carried out on time, the box continues to work without interruptions and problems. The official recommendation is every 30-35 thousand km. In Russian realities, this period can be halved, since cars with automatic transmissions are sometimes operated in rather harsh conditions. It is advisable to do the prevention of the box with an oil change in the automatic transmission Honda SRV and when buying a used car.

Important: the degree of oil wear in an automatic transmission Honda SRV is determined by real mileage... The popular method of visually inspecting transmission oil for color and sediment does not work as CRV transmission fluid is not prone to change in consistency and light. Only its cooling and lubricating properties are deteriorating, which are lost after about 40 thousand km.

What kind of oil and how much is needed

There is an opinion among car owners that any oil can be poured into an automatic transmission, as long as it fits within the tolerances. This is categorically incorrect: the experts of the Honda concern strongly recommend using only original oil, otherwise, rapid wear of the box is likely.

Until 2011, Honda-Z1 grease was used in the boxes, which was also poured into the automatic transmission Honda SRV RD 1, of the first generation:

In car models produced after 2011, the new ATF DW-1 fluid is used.

Interesting: oil for automatic transmission Honda SRV DW-1 and Z1 are compatible, and allowed partial replacement old oil boxes for a new fluid, without removing the old one.

To change the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 3, you will need about 10 liters of fluid in full, for a partial one - about 4.

Transmission Oil Change Procedure

In Honda CR-V 3 and generation 1 crossovers, fluid can be changed in two ways:

  • complete;
  • partial.

Complete replacement

It is better to carry out it in a car service, for this you will need about 10 liters. oils. Usually, with a complete replacement, it is customary to change the filter, but the feature of the Honda SRV 3 automatic transmission is that the filter is non-removable, located in the middle of the box, therefore, even in a car service, it is suggested to carry out the procedure without changing the filter element of the box. If you nevertheless change it, the box will first have to be dismantled and disassembled, which significantly increases the cost of the procedure.

In addition to the internal one, the Honda SRV 3 box also has an external filter that you can change yourself. Its scheduled replacement period is every 90 thousand km. Part code - 25430-PLR-003 (oil filter):

The reason for this: there is no removable pallet in the "automatic" from Honda. This means that it is physically and technically impossible to remove the pallet and clean it from the accumulated deposits. And if you rinse the box with oil under high pressure, the suspension will rise from the non-removable sump and contaminate the oil filter of the Honda SRV 3 automatic transmission, which, in turn, will lead to its laborious replacement and significant waste.

Partial oil change

As mentioned above, you will need about 4 liters of new ATF (it is recommended to take a little more, with a margin). In addition to oil, you will need:

  • set of tools;
  • metal brush;
  • cleaning rags;
  • gloves;
  • container for draining "working off" from the gearbox.

The automatic transmission oil change is carried out in several stages:

  • If there is, it must first be removed.
  • Place the previously prepared container under the hole, and unscrew the plug:

  • Old liquid starts to flow:

  • Then the plug is screwed back in. Before that, you can put a new washer on it:

  • After that, new oil is poured through the dipstick hole, the standard replacement volume is 3.5 liters. After that, you should check the level with a dipstick and add the missing / drain the excess, if necessary.

For filling, you can use a special device, for example, a syringe:

The car starts up, a test drive is made, a control measurement is made and drain / refill, if necessary.

Interesting: in this way, you can carry out a complete replacement, repeating the procedure two or three times, at weekly intervals.

Honda CRV cars of the 3rd generation are equipped with 2 types of gearboxes - a mechanical six-speed and a five-speed "automatic", which is quite reliable if it is serviced in a timely manner. Changing the oil in a vending machine is a simple and fairly cheap procedure. Let's take a look at how professionals do it.

When to change automatic transmission fluid

The oil in the Honda automatic transmission is changed by mileage - there is no reference to the years of operation. It doesn't matter that it is light and does not smell like burning, no sediment falls out - it will always be like that, but it will begin to lose its properties closer to 40 thousand km. Hence the recommendation - to make a replacement every 30 thousand km. If the car is used in difficult conditions, the fluid is changed more often (every 15-20 thousand km), but partially.

If you do not follow the rules, you will soon have to repair the box.

When buying a car from hands, the oil should be changed immediately, no matter how the previous owner assured you that “just changed it”.

What kind of oil to fill

By design, automatic transmissions of Honda cars differ from boxes of other manufacturers. Parts are made of materials that can withstand high loads and temperatures.

Otherwise, the box is unlikely to live up to the 50-thousandth run. Other oil is not able to maintain its properties at high temperatures - it will just boil.

What is needed

The procedure can be performed if there is a lift, pit or overpass.

You will need:

  • ATF DW1 fluid (four liters);
  • set of tools;
  • container for draining the waste liquid;
  • new aluminum washer for the drain plug;
  • funnel or large syringe with hose and gloves.

Replacement procedure

Engineers of the manufacturing company argue that on Honda SRV cars, oil change in automatic transmissions should be done differently - not like on other cars.

To pump a large amount of "transmission" under pressure - only harm the box. The design of the Honda automatic transmission has features:

  • there is no removable pallet, which makes it impossible to clean it from wear products of rubbing parts. If you try to flush the box under pressure, all the dirt will move to the filter;
  • the filter is also non-removable. To clean it, you need to disassemble (and then correctly assemble!) Almost the entire box, which is very expensive.

When flushing, the filter will become clogged with slag, which will disable the automatic transmission. Due to clogging, the oil pressure increases at the inlet of the system, but there is no more pressure at the outlet of it. The car will not even budge or will move on high revs... If you see this, get ready for an expensive automatic transmission repair.

Some Russian service stations are very fond of telling tales about the complex procedure for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 3. Service stations are trying to “rip off” money for this to buy 15 or more liters of fluid.

It is optimal for the third generation Honda CR-V automatic transmission to partially change the fluid - in this case, only 4 liters will be enough:

  • warm up the car and the box to operating temperature, place it on a lift, above a pit or on an overpass;
  • stop the engine, open the hood, wait 5 minutes. Then measure the level with the dipstick. If there is a shortage, top up to the upper mark through the dipstick hole (at its upper mark). Do not put the dipstick back;
  • wait another 10 minutes (so that the liquid cools down) and look for the automatic transmission drain hole. If the protection is installed, it will have to be dismantled. The plug is located to the right of the car's engine near the wheel. Clean it from dirt with an iron brush;
  • Place an empty container with a volume of at least 4 liters under the plug. An empty 5-liter water or washer bottle will do;
  • using a square ⅜, carefully unscrew the plug almost to the end;
  • now put on gloves and completely unscrew the cork without dropping it into the container;
  • let the oil drain completely. A little less than 3.5 liters should flow out;
  • then clean the magnetic part of the plug from chips. Be sure to replace the old plug sealing washer with a new one;

  • measure the volume of the leaked oil. This will tell you how much new fluid you need to add;
  • replace the plug;
  • go to fill. Insert a funnel or a hose with a syringe at the end into the hole of the gearbox dipstick, fill in the fluid as you have drained. It is important not to pour ATF, it is better to add a little later than to pump out the excess;

  • start the car and warm up power unit to operating temperature. Together with it, the automatic transmission will also warm up;
  • switch gears of the box, lingering in each position for 5-10 seconds;
  • stop the engine and wait about 10 minutes. Now measure the level, top up if necessary.
There are opinions that the liquid level should be at the maximum mark or in the middle. And so, and so it will be correct, the main thing is not to overflow.

For a complete oil change, three partial changes must be carried out at intervals of approximately one week. You will have to buy about 12 liters of ATF.

CR-V 2

The procedure is performed in the same way. Only the amount of oil differs: the total volume is 7.2 liters. Partial replacement drains 3.1 liters.

CR-V 4

Changing the automatic transmission oil in a Honda SRV 4 is absolutely the same. With a mileage of 90 thousand km, the external automatic transmission filter also changes. The original number is 25430-PLR-003.

Nothing complicated in the oil change procedure automatic transmission There is no Honda CR-V of any generation - if a car service issues an impressive bill for this procedure, refuse and look for a more honest service station.

Finally, a video on how to change the oil in a Honda machine:

The car owner can change the transmission oil for the Honda CR-V 2 on his own, without the help of specialists. However, without a specialized tool and disassembling the gearbox, it will not be possible to completely drain the lubricant. Therefore, the car owner can only make a partial replacement with his own hands.

Which oil is better to choose in an automatic transmission for a Honda SRV 2?

When changing the oil in an automatic transmission on a Honda SRV 2, the main focus is on choosing a new lubricant. They buy it in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer to maintenance car.

It is not recommended to fill in other analogs in the automatic transmission of Honda SRV 2. This is due to the high thermal loads on the transmission, due to which the oil boils. As a result, the gearbox fails after 30-50 thousand kilometers.

When do you need to change the oil in the automatic transmission on a Honda CR-V 2?

A separate aspect is the frequency of oil change in automatic transmissions in the Honda CR-V 2. There are several common indicators, which are paid attention to when solving this issue:

  • indicators from the manufacturer - according to them, the lubricant in the transmission needs to be changed every 50 thousand km;
  • Russian operating conditions of the car - taking them into account, the service life of the lubricating fluid is reduced to 20-40 thousand km;
  • individual conditions of use - depending on these factors, the overall indicator may also be reduced.

K n personal factors that reduce the service life of the lubricated grease, include:

  • driving speed and aggressive driving;
  • the frequency and duration of city trips;
  • frequent stops, turns;
  • road covering, sliding, slipping, holes;
  • additional loads, lifts, towing of trailers;
  • climatic conditions, annual temperature fluctuations.

Taking these aspects into account, it is recommended to identify the gearbox oil change intervals on an individual basis. For this, attention is paid to preventive checks, during which the volume of the lubricant is measured and its appearance is assessed.

Signs of the need to replace the transmission oil include a change in its color and density, the appearance of a burning smell, impurities, sediment. These factors indicate a loss of lubricating properties, which can soon lead to malfunctions in the operation of the automatic transmission.

Some car owners also refer to interruptions in the operation of the gearbox as signs of an expired lubricant service life. Inconsistent shifting, extraneous sounds, jolts and vibrations - all this indicates not only the need to change the oil, but also the relevance of diagnostics of the transmission system by specialists.

It is not recommended to wait for breakdowns in the gearbox - this unit is considered one of the most difficult in a car and its repair will be quite expensive. At the first suspicion of poor-quality oil performance, its preventive replacement is performed. In this case, even partial draining and refilling will avoid costly repairs in the future.

Replacement process

Do-it-yourself oil change in automatic transmission Honda SRV 2 begins with the process preparation... During it, they prepare necessary tools, buy consumables, choose a place to work.

The specificity of the assembly of the Honda CR-V 2 does not allow you to remove the pallet, also when self-replacement oils do not change the filter. This is due to the need to disassemble the gearbox, which should not be done in the absence of skills and knowledge.

On preparatory stage check the system for faulty connections, purchase replacement parts for them. Usually, during the prevention, together with the oil, they must change the drain plug washer, if the bolt is damaged, they also change it.

To work with changing the lubricant and components, you will need a flat space with convenient access to the main components of the system. The possibility of using a flyover, a repair pit or a lift is emphasized. If they are absent, a jack with supports will do.

In the process of work, attention is paid to compliance safety precautions... The vehicle must be secured safely for the owner. Some people remove the negative from the battery as an additional precaution.

Also pay attention to the high temperature of the drained grease and its toxicity. In the process of work, they use rubber gloves, to collect liquid, an unnecessary container is prepared, preventing the mining from getting into the soil.

List of instruments for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda CRV 2 includes the following accessories:

  • a set of keys and screwdrivers, gates with socket heads;
  • clothes that you do not mind getting dirty, lint-free rags, rubber gloves;
  • capacity from 4 liters for collecting mining;
  • new oil, a washer for the drain plug, if necessary, and other components to replace worn parts.

Given the impossibility of carrying out a complete oil change on your own, the procedure is carried out at a partial level. To increase the efficiency of the process, the general procedure is repeated - this increases the oil consumption, however, it makes it possible to better clean the system from the residues of the spent liquid.

Draining old oil from the tank

Drain the oil from the automatic transmission on the Honda SRV 2 according to the following procedure:

  • warm up the engine by circulating the lubricant;
  • uncork the filler neck in the engine compartment;
  • find a drain plug from below, substitute a container under it;
  • uncork the drain, allow the liquid to drain into the prepared container.

It is usually drained up to 3.5 liters, the amount is determined using a measuring canister. According to the obtained value, the volume of oil for filling is further measured. If time permits, allow the working off to cool down for a more accurate value.

Pallet rinsing and swarf removal

In the Honda CR-V 2, the sump is not removable, which to some extent complicates the process of draining and flushing. Given this factor, the emphasis is on cleaning the entire system.

The flushing procedure involves refilling the oil at various intervals. Some do it immediately after warming up the engine, others after several hundred kilometers.

This cleaning of the transmission involves the following steps:

  • drain the old lubricant, fill in a new one in its place;
  • let the car run, it is better to drive for a while;
  • drain new grease as used, refill with fresh one.

The process can be repeated several times until the drained liquid remains sufficiently clean. This method increases the required amount of purchased oil up to 15 liters.

Flushing removes waste grease residues and sediment from the system. Taking into account the cost complete replacement for specialists, this option, even with additional costs for oil, is cheaper for the driver.

Filling in new oil

Filling the automatic transmission of Honda SRV 2 with oil does not involve complex actions. After draining and flushing, clean the drain hole and plug, change the washer, and, if necessary, the bolt itself. The system is plugged, the tightness of the connection is checked.

New fluid is poured into the filler neck, through which the level of transmission lubricant is checked. If the volume was measured on a non-cooled working off, it is recommended not to add a little.

Then the engine is warmed up for several minutes with all gear shifting. After warming up, measure the oil level, top up or pump out if necessary. In a heated and cooled state, the amount of lubricant should not exceed the permissible limits indicated on the dipstick.

Many Russian car enthusiasts want their favorite car to have a comfortable modern interior, a powerful engine, as well as an excellent suspension that can cope with any off-road conditions. These characteristics are fully consistent with the crossover, which was designed by engineers and designers. Japanese company Honda Motor Co., Ltd. The model is called CR-V III (third generation). The car was produced from 2007 to 2012, after that it was replaced new model 4th generation.

Transmission features

Honda SRV 3 is equipped with two types of gearboxes - manual transmission (6-speed manual) and automatic transmission (5-speed automatic). V automatic transmission includes:

According to numerous reviews of car owners, the CR-V machine does an excellent job of its job - it changes gears very smoothly and gives a minimum overconsumption of fuel. The torque converter works in the driving range from second to fifth gear. The McPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension make it easy and comfortable to ride on any road. On the Internet, advertising videos can be used to appreciate the beauty and power of this car.

Grade Logic system as component The automatic transmission shifts gears not only depending on the engine speed. Driving conditions are also analyzed - downhill, downhill, in the city, on uneven roads, as well as the position throttle, the use of the brake pedal and other parameters. Depending on this, a regulator with a fuzzy algorithm selects the most suitable gear, moving the shift moment to one side or the other.

Structurally, the automatic transmission, designed by Honda specialists, differs from similar units from other manufacturers. Other materials are used in the production of parts, the structure can withstand higher temperatures, because it is able to work under heavy loads. Therefore, the deputy chief designer of Honda Motors, Masahira Ishikawa, claims that no other ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid), except for the one provided by the manufacturer, cannot be poured into the automatic transmission. It used to be ATF Z1, today it is the original ATF DW1. Otherwise, the box will fail after 30-40 thousand km, since no other oil can withstand such temperature regime- it will just boil, with far-reaching consequences.

When and how to change transmission fluid

CR-V owners should remember that in a Honda automatic transmission, the working fluid changes only by mileage. That is, it is useless to hope and wait until the oil darkens and a sediment appears in it. Transmission fluid, as a rule, does not change color, consistency over time and remains the same transparent. Only its properties change, many of which are lost after a run of 30–40 thousand km. Therefore, it is highly recommended to replace ATF after every 30 thousand run. If you have any additional questions on this topic, look at the videos, there are a lot of them on the Internet.

If the operating conditions are difficult, only partial replacement is regularly performed, then it is advisable to change it more often, after 15–20 thousand km. If you do not keep to the schedule - over time, expensive repairs may be needed. If the car is purchased at secondary market, then an oil change is immediately required, no matter what the previous owner of the car may say. According to Masahira Ishikawa, for automatic machines CR-V the oil replacement method used in automatic transmissions of other manufacturers is not suitable.

That is, pumping oil under pressure and using a large amount of new fluid at the same time can only do harm. After all, Honda's gearbox design is unique. There are at least two reasons why you should not rinse the box:

  1. The Honda assault rifle does not have a removable sump, so it cannot be physically removed and cleaned of deposits. During flushing, this turbidity will rise from the sump and settle on the filter, clogging it.
  2. The filter is not removable and not reusable. To get to it, you will need to completely disassemble the gearbox; the service station is unlikely to agree to this, and the cost of such work is very high.

Thus, the failure of the filter will sooner or later entail a breakdown of the entire automatic transmission. A clogged filter causes an increase in the pressure of the working fluid at the inlet of the system and its absence at the outlet. As a result - the inability to get under way or the start of movement at high engine speeds. This means that the automatic transmission in the CR-V is out of order and very expensive repairs will be required.

Optimal and correct for the 3rd generation CR-V will be a partial replacement, in which the automatic transmission will require about 4 liters ATF oils DW1 - strange as it may seem at first glance. This transmission fluid replaces ATF Z1 and is fully compatible with it. That is, it is possible to partially replace ATF DW1 instead of the previously filled ATF Z1.

The procedure for partial replacement of the lubricant

Oil change in a 3rd generation Honda SRV car is displayed in the video - many videos on this topic can be found on the Internet. Partial replacement of the lubricating fluid can be carried out independently, only for this you need to place the car on an overpass or above a viewing pit. In addition, you need to purchase 4 liters of the original transmission ATF fluids DW1 (preferably with a small margin), and also have rubber gloves, work clothes, a set of tools and a container into which the old liquid will be drained.

  1. The engine and transmission are warming up, the Honda CR-V is placed on an overpass or above a viewing pit. The hood opens, and 5 minutes after the engine is turned off, the oil level in the automatic transmission is measured. If it is below the required level, a new one is added to the filler hole (where the dipstick was) to the required level (just below the upper mark of the dipstick). After this procedure, the probe is not installed back.
  2. After another 5-10 minutes, you can drain the old transmission fluid... A temporary delay is made so that the oil cools down a little and does not cause burns. Then you need to find the drain hole. The machine should be located to the right of the engine belt. In order to get to the drain plug, you will have to remove the protection (if installed) and clean the drain plug with a metal brush from dirt. She should be near the right front wheel Honda SRV.
  3. A container with a volume of at least 4 liters is placed under the cork, and the cork is carefully unscrewed with a 3/8 square. It is necessary to tighten it with your fingers, after putting on gloves so that it does not fall into the container. Oil will begin to flow out of the automatic transmission crankcase.
  4. After a while, it will stop flowing altogether. The container should contain about 3–3.5 liters of waste liquid. After that, the magnetic end of the drain plug must be cleaned of metal chips and dirt, for this you can use WD-40. After cleaning, it is imperative to replace the old aluminum washer in the cork with a new one.
  5. The volume of the leaked liquid is measured, this can be done using plastic bottles with a volume of 1 liter, pouring mining there. After that, it will be known more precisely how much of the old grease has flowed out.
  6. The plug is installed in its place. The filling phase of the new lubricant begins. For this purpose, you can use a funnel with a hose or a large syringe (not medical), to which you also need to connect a hose. The hose is inserted into the filler hole (where the dipstick is). The replacement of a new transmission fluid in the automatic transmission is carried out in the same volume as that leaked out.
  7. In the process of pouring, you need to be careful not to pour ATF, it is better to add a little later. Otherwise, you will have to climb under the hood again, remove the dipstick and suck the excess liquid back with a syringe.
  8. The engine starts and warms up, and with it the automatic transmission. After warming up, the motor turns off and a temporary pause is taken from 3 to 5 minutes. Only after that the level of the working fluid is measured with a dipstick. This sequence is required for the Honda CR-V.

According to the oil level in the automatic transmission Honda CR-V: some masters advise that it be on the upper bar of the dipstick. Others believe that the level should be located in the middle, between the minimum and maximum. In any case, the car will drive normally, the main thing is that the level is not higher than the maximum. Otherwise, the gearbox will have problems over time.

And one more tip: do not fill in transmission fluid from other manufacturers - only from Honda. Only in this case the CR-V transmission will delight with trouble-free confident operation.

There are also supporters of a complete lubricant change, but this may require 10-12 liters of ATF. Replacement is done in 2-3 steps, between them you need to drive a car for a week.
