The Honda CR-V has been produced since 1995. In Europe and America, the abbreviation CR-V stands for Compact Recreational Vehicle - a compact recreational vehicle. The car quickly won the sympathy of the owners due to its reliability, comfortable salon, good driving characteristics, economy. The 4th generation of the crossover is currently on sale. In our country, the abbreviation CR-V was Russified as SRV or CRV. The number after the name indicates the generation of the model. The car is quite easy to maintain, many operations are available to the owner of the crossover. For example, a motorist can change the oil in a Honda SRV 3 or 4, 2, 1 box without any problems - both in mechanical and automatic (automatic transmission).

When to change the oil in the Honda SRV box

Starting with the first generation SRV models, Honda's transmissions included an automatic transmission option. At first, these were four-stage boxes, then five-stage automatic machines appeared on some of the second-generation crossovers. On the third and fourth car models, automatic transmissions are only 5-speed. In total, more than 10 modifications of automatic transmissions were created for the SRV. However, they are all similar in design, in service they are practically the same. The specificity of Honda automatic transmissions is that they differ in the design of the mechanical part from most types of automatic transmissions from other manufacturers. Usually, behind the torque converter in the automatic transmission, there is a mechanics built on planetary gearboxes.

Honda went its own way, and applied a gearbox with multiple shafts, like conventional mechanical boxes... Each pair of gears on the shafts implements one of the gearbox stages, is connected by an individual multi-plate "wet" clutch, which are lubricated with transmission fluid under pressure. The clutch discs, which are not currently engaged in gears, rotate freely relative to each other. The distance between them does not exceed 0.1 mm. Pressurized lubricant provides easy disc slippage. Therefore, the requirements for cleanliness, the pressure of the transmission fluid in the Honda SRV boxes are high. When the transmission fluid filtration system becomes clogged, increased wear of the clutches occurs, as a result, a decrease in the resource of the entire automatic transmission.

The box contains 2 filters, one of which is coarse. It is located inside the automatic transmission, it can be replaced only when the box is disassembled. The fine filter, "pass-through", is brought out to the outside of the machine body and is periodically replaced.

Such an automatic transmission device Honda SRV dictates to replace working fluid every 45 tons. km of run. The fine filter must be replaced at least once every 90 tons. Km. But some owners combine filter and oil change every 45 tons. Km.

Such a careful approach to technology does not go in vain. At one of the specialized forums "Hondavodov" recorded the appearance of a first-generation crossover with a mileage of about 700 t. Km without overhaul of the power unit.

What kind of oil to pour into the Honda SRV machine

The manufacturer requires the use in its automatic transmissions, in particular on the Honda SRV 4 and SRV 3, transmission oil of two types:

At the same time, for new models of crossovers Honda SRV 3rd and SRV 4th generation, a more modern, exclusively synthetic oil ATF - DW1. Its original number is 082689990 4 HE. The cost of a liter is 800 - 1000 rubles.

Attention! CVT oils for Honda SRV HCF-2 are not suitable for hydromechanical gearboxes.

How much oil is in the automatic transmission Honda SRV

The total volume of oil in the box for the Honda SRV is about 7 liters. In this case, in the case of a partial oil change, 3.2 - 3.7 liters of the "transmission" are drained. The same amount will need to be poured into the box. With a complete replacement, it is necessary to have 8 or even 9 liters of transmission fluid.

Changing the oil in the box machine Honda SRV

When changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV, two main methods are used:

  • partial replacement;
  • complete replacement.

And in fact, and in another case, you will need almost the same set of tools and devices, the difference will be only in the amount of purchased oil.

Important! The corporation manufacturer of the Honda automatic transmission does not recommend changing the transmission fluid using pressure flushing devices.

At the same time, in Honda machines, clogging of the internal filter may occur, followed by a deterioration in the lubrication regime of the gearbox assemblies.

To carry out the work you will need:

  • transmission oil;
  • key or bit "square" 3/8;
  • drain plug O-ring (orig. No. 90471-px4-000);
  • container for draining mining;
  • transparent hose for draining and filling the working fluid (2 pcs. 1.5 m each);
  • funnel for the transmission bay;
  • large syringe (200 - 300 ml).

When replacing a fine filter, you need to buy an original product. No. 25430-R5L-003 (price 1500 - 1800 rubles)

The work of changing the oil in the automatic transmission is responsible, but not difficult, although painstaking. Expensive tools and complex fixtures are not required. Replacement should be done at a viewing pit or overpass.

Complete oil change in automatic transmission Honda CRV

An assistant is required for this operation.

Place the vehicle over a pit or overpass. Depending on the crossover model, either remove all the protection of the power unit, or the hatch on it, get access to the oil drain plug from the automatic transmission. Warm up the engine, and with it the box.

Remove the dipstick for checking the oil level of the box. Unscrew the drain plug with a 3/8 square wrench. On the last threads of the thread, it must be unscrewed with your fingers. Drain the oil into a container substituted in advance 4 - 5 liters.

It is easy to make such a container from a drinking water can by cutting off its top.

While the oil is draining, the magnetic tip of the plug should be inspected.

There should be no metal shavings on it. large sizes- 0.5 mm or more. The appearance of steel particles in large quantities indicates technical problems Automatic transmission.

In any case, the plug must be rinsed in gasoline or diesel fuel, and the O-ring must be changed. Reinstall the plug and tighten with a wrench.

Measure the amount of drained oil, then use a funnel and a hose to pour a fresh "transmission" into the box through the dipstick neck.

Remove the air filter box. There is a fine filter under it.

Remove the clamp securing the filter to the box. Unclench with pliers and move the spring clamp of the drain fitting (upper in the photo). Remove the tube from the filter. Put a drain hose on the fitting, the other end of which is placed in a transparent 1.5 liter bottle.

The removed pipe from the filter can be plugged with a plug, but it is better to substitute a small container under it. A little liquid will come off during work.

The assistant turns on the engine for 15 to 20 seconds. Dirty oil begins to flow into the container through the filter. After draining approximately 1 liter, command the engine to stop. Pour fresh liquid into the box, the amount of which should be equal to the drained.

Repeat the operation 2-3 times until clean oil begins to flow into the drain container.

Then you can replace the filter. Put the pipes on it, tighten them with clamps. Attach the filter housing to the automatic transmission. Replace the air filter box. Install the engine crankcase and gearbox protectors.

Start the engine, move the selector switch sequentially to positions from "P" to "D". Switch off the engine.

After a few minutes, check the automatic transmission fluid level with a dipstick. The transmission fluid must be between the "Max" and "Min" marks.

Make a test drive 5 - 8 km. In 5 - 7 minutes after stopping and turning off the engine, check the level of the "transmission", bring it in line with the marks on the dipstick. Top up or pump out excess with a syringe using a hose through the neck of the dipstick. The oil change in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 2 is carried out in a similar way.

Partial oil change in automatic transmission Honda CRV

Partial oil change in automatic transmission Honda SRV is a simplified operation described above. The transmission fluid is removed only through the drain hole once. Filter replacement is at the discretion of the owner of the car.

How to check the oil level in the automatic transmission Honda SRV

Checking the transmission fluid level in the Honda SRV box is carried out using a dipstick. The engine and gearbox must be warm. The machine must be parked on a level surface. The oil level should not exceed the upper mark on the dipstick and should not be below the "minimum" risk. Otherwise, it is necessary to either add liquid or pump out the excess. This work is best done with a large-volume syringe with a transparent hose put on it through the neck of the probe.

Conclusion

Transmission oil in a box of a Honda SRV 3 or any other generation is changed quite simply. The process requires precision and accuracy from the performer. Carrying out such an operation according to the regulations established by the car manufacturer will increase the resource automatic transmission and the whole crossover.

Now let's talk about replacement oils in automatic transmission Honda... The most important question is when should you change the oil?

If everything is more or less clear with the engine - the replacement time can be judged either by the mileage or by the color of the oil, then in the Honda automatic transmission the oil changes only by the mileage. Often, having stopped by a service station with a request to change the oil, a person hears from a pseudo-master, “why do you need to change it, it’s clean and doesn’t smell” ?! Remember: ATF Z1, judging by the drop of oil on the dipstick, does not change color, smell, and consistency until irreversible processes of destruction of the automatic transmission begin.

Drain the purest (as indicated by the dipstick) oil, and you will see that in fact it is not so clear. The special fluid for automatic transmission does not contain special detergents, so if the unit does not begin to wear severely, it will not turn black too much. Slight darkening is acceptable, but black liquid on the dipstick usually indicates that the automatic transmission is asking for a replacement.

That is why two rules should be observed - first, if the car was constantly serviced by a good master, then the replacement of the special fluid is made every 30,000 - 35,000 km. In the conditions of the northern regions, it makes sense to reduce the interval to 25,000 - 30,000 km. And the second rule, if you bought a car and do not know when the oil in the automatic transmission was changed, do not save, and change it immediately.

In Russia, there is a terrible tale about the complexity and high cost of replacing fluid in a Honda automatic transmission. At many service stations, colossal amounts of liquid (up to 16 liters!) Are prescribed for this harmless process, as well as expensive installations for pumping oil under pressure. Paradoxically, it is this approach that destroys the automatic transmission. The fact is that many masters approach the issue of oil change in Honda automatic transmissions from the position of oil change in automatic transmissions of other cars, and you and I already know that these boxes are structurally different.

We will try to describe the process of changing the oil in a Toyota automatic transmission so that it is clear what is the mistake of many masters when approaching Honda. When replacing fluid in a Toyota automatic transmission, a special flushing fluid is used, which is certainly useful for an automatic transmission of this brand. Further, in the process of changing the oil, the automatic transmission filter is removed, which can be disposable (it changes), or stationary (reusable, it is cleaned either mechanically or by flushing fluid). The pallet is removed, the deposits that inevitably settle at the bottom of the pallet are washed out, the pallet is put on a new gasket in place. It would seem that everything is simple and clear. But, approaching Honda with the same order of things, we find the following - the box does not have a removable pallet! As a result, it will no longer be possible to clean the sump from deposits. Then, it turns out that the turbidity raised by the flushing liquid should settle in the filter, which must be replaced. And here the catch number two lies in wait - the filter is in the middle of the box, between the two halves of its case, and you can change it only by removing and disassembling the box. Not a single service station in the world will offer you in a sober mind to do this incredibly time-consuming and expensive operation when changing the oil in an automatic transmission.

What is fraught with such an incorrect replacement procedure as replacing "on the device"? Firstly, the failure of the automatic transmission filter. A filter clogged with deposits simply does not allow liquid to pass through itself, creating an enormous oil pressure at the inlet, while there is simply no pressure at the outlet. Of course, being in such a position, hydraulic system the box simply does not withstand the loads and breaks down. The most common symptom of a breakdown in this case is the inability to move the car from a place with the D4 selector lever position. As a rule, the car roars like a wounded animal, but cannot move. Sometimes, it happens, it starts moving, but at 3000 rpm. In fact, this means the death of the automatic transmission, in this case a very expensive and lengthy repair is required, which sometimes is equal to half the cost of the car. How can you avoid this? It is necessary to change the oil in the automatic transmission correctly, and we will tell you how to do it right below.

Many Russian car enthusiasts want their favorite car to have a comfortable modern interior, a powerful engine, as well as an excellent suspension that can cope with any off-road conditions. These characteristics are fully consistent with the crossover, which was designed by engineers and designers. Japanese company Honda Motor Co., Ltd. The model is called CR-V III (third generation). The car was produced from 2007 to 2012, after that it was replaced new model 4th generation.

Transmission features

Honda SRV 3 is equipped with two types of gearboxes - manual transmission (6-speed manual) and automatic transmission (5-speed automatic). V automatic transmission includes:

According to numerous reviews of car owners, the CR-V machine does an excellent job of its job - it changes gears very smoothly and gives a minimum overconsumption of fuel. The torque converter works in the driving range from second to fifth gear. The McPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension make it easy and comfortable to ride on any road. On the Internet, advertising videos can be used to appreciate the beauty and power of this car.

Grade Logic system as component The automatic transmission shifts gears not only depending on the engine speed. Driving conditions are also analyzed - downhill, downhill, in the city, on uneven roads, as well as the position throttle, the use of the brake pedal and other parameters. Depending on this, a regulator with a fuzzy algorithm selects the most suitable gear, moving the shift moment to one side or the other.

Structurally, the automatic transmission, designed by Honda specialists, differs from similar units from other manufacturers. Other materials are used in the production of parts, the structure can withstand higher temperatures, because it is able to work under heavy loads. Therefore, the deputy chief designer of Honda Motors, Masahira Ishikawa, claims that no other ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid), except for the one provided by the manufacturer, cannot be poured into the automatic transmission. It used to be ATF Z1, today it is the original ATF DW1. Otherwise, the box will fail after 30-40 thousand km, since no other oil can withstand such temperature regime- it will just boil, with far-reaching consequences.

When and how to change transmission fluid

CR-V owners should remember that in a Honda automatic transmission, the working fluid changes only by mileage. That is, it is useless to hope and wait until the oil darkens and a sediment appears in it. Transmission fluid, as a rule, does not change color, consistency over time and remains the same transparent. Only its properties change, many of which are lost after a run of 30–40 thousand km. Therefore, it is highly recommended to replace ATF after every 30 thousand run. If you have any additional questions on this topic, look at the videos, there are a lot of them on the Internet.

If the operating conditions are difficult, only partial replacement, then it is advisable to change more often, after 15–20 thousand km. If you do not keep to the schedule - over time, expensive repairs may be needed. If the car is purchased at secondary market, then an oil change is immediately required, no matter what the previous owner of the car may say. According to Masahira Ishikawa, the oil change method used in automatic transmissions of other manufacturers is not suitable for CR-V machines.

That is, pumping oil under pressure and using a large amount of new fluid at the same time can only do harm. After all, Honda's gearbox design is unique. There are at least two reasons why you should not rinse the box:

  1. The Honda assault rifle does not have a removable sump, so it cannot be physically removed and cleaned of deposits. During flushing, this turbidity will rise from the sump and settle on the filter, clogging it.
  2. The filter is not removable and not reusable. To get to it, you will need to completely disassemble the gearbox; the service station is unlikely to agree to this, and the cost of such work is very high.

Thus, the failure of the filter will sooner or later entail a breakdown of the entire automatic transmission. A clogged filter causes an increase in the pressure of the working fluid at the inlet of the system and its absence at the outlet. As a result - the inability to get under way or the beginning of movement when high revs engine. This means that the automatic transmission in the CR-V is out of order and very expensive repairs will be required.

Optimal and correct for the 3rd generation CR-V will be a partial replacement, in which the automatic transmission will require about 4 liters of ATF DW1 oil - strange as it may seem at first glance. This transmission fluid came to replacement ATF Z1 and is fully compatible with it. That is, it is possible to partially replace ATF DW1 instead of the previously filled ATF Z1.

The procedure for partial replacement of the lubricant

Oil change in a 3rd generation Honda SRV car is displayed in the video - many videos on this topic can be found on the Internet. Partial replacement of the lubricating fluid can be carried out independently, only for this you need to place the car on an overpass or above a viewing pit. In addition, you need to purchase 4 liters of original ATF DW1 transmission fluid (preferably with a small margin), and also have rubber gloves, work clothes, a set of tools and a container into which the old fluid will be drained.

  1. The engine and transmission are warming up, the Honda CR-V is placed on an overpass or above a viewing pit. The hood opens, and 5 minutes after the engine is turned off, the oil level in the automatic transmission is measured. If it is below the required level, a new one is added to the filler hole (where the dipstick was) to the required level (just below the upper mark of the dipstick). After this procedure, the probe is not installed back.
  2. After another 5-10 minutes, you can drain the old transmission fluid. A temporary delay is made so that the oil cools down a little and does not cause burns. Then you need to find the drain hole. The machine should be located to the right of the engine belt. In order to get to the drain plug, you will have to remove the protection (if installed) and clean the drain plug with a metal brush from dirt. She should be near the right front wheel Honda SRV.
  3. A container with a volume of at least 4 liters is placed under the cork, and the cork is carefully unscrewed with a 3/8 square. It is necessary to tighten it with your fingers, after putting on gloves so that it does not fall into the container. Oil will begin to flow out of the automatic transmission crankcase.
  4. After a while, it will stop flowing altogether. The container should contain about 3–3.5 liters of waste liquid. After that, the magnetic end of the drain plug must be cleaned of metal chips and dirt, for this you can use WD-40. After cleaning, it is imperative to replace the old aluminum washer in the cork with a new one.
  5. The volume of the leaked liquid is measured, this can be done using plastic bottles with a volume of 1 liter, pouring mining there. After that, it will be known more precisely how much of the old grease has flowed out.
  6. The plug is installed in its place. The filling phase of the new lubricant begins. For this purpose, you can use a funnel with a hose or a large syringe (not medical), to which you also need to connect a hose. The hose is inserted into the filler hole (where the dipstick is). The replacement of a new transmission fluid in the automatic transmission is carried out in the same volume as that leaked out.
  7. In the process of pouring, you need to be careful not to pour ATF, it is better to add a little later. Otherwise, you will have to climb under the hood again, remove the dipstick and suck the excess liquid back with a syringe.
  8. The engine starts and warms up, and with it the automatic transmission. After warming up, the motor turns off and a temporary pause is taken from 3 to 5 minutes. Only after that the level of the working fluid is measured with a dipstick. This sequence is required for the Honda CR-V.

According to the oil level in the automatic transmission Honda CR-V: some masters advise that it be on the upper bar of the dipstick. Others believe that the level should be located in the middle, between the minimum and maximum. In any case, the car will drive normally, the main thing is that the level is not higher than the maximum. Otherwise, the gearbox will have problems over time.

And one more tip: do not fill in transmission fluid from other manufacturers - only from Honda. Only in this case the CR-V transmission will delight with trouble-free confident operation.

There are also supporters of a complete lubricant change, but this may require 10-12 liters of ATF. Replacement is done in 2-3 steps, between them you need to drive a car for a week.

In order for the automatic transmission (automatic transmission) to Honda car CR-V worked more stable - it is necessary to regularly carry out its maintenance and periodically replace consumables, which include oil change.

Changing the oil in the Honda CR-V automatic transmission allows you to:

  • Increase the service life of the box - automatic
  • Protect it from overheating
  • Neutralize wear debris from parts constantly rubbing against each other.

When to carry out a full and partial oil change in an automatic box Honda CR V

A partial oil change in the automatic transmission is carried out during regular and periodic service inspections, as well as in case of poor gear shifting. It is done very simply, but more on that later.

  • When buying a used car, when it is difficult to determine the quality of the fluid
  • With a car mileage of more than 90 thousand kilometers
  • If a permanent overheating of the transmission is detected
  • Breakdowns and malfunctions in which it is necessary complete replacement oils

This manipulation requires special equipment in the form of a flushing unit, therefore, in most cases, work is carried out in service centers.

Required consumables and tools

To change the oil in the Honda CR-V automatic transmission, we need:

  • Transmission ATF oil DW-1 Honda
  • 4-sided wrench for unscrewing the drain plug by 10
  • Its external filter No. 25430-PLR-003
  • Washer No. 90471-PX-000
  • Funnel with a hose, in order to fill in new oil through the dipstick

Step-by-step instructions for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda CR V

Well, let's get down to the oil change procedure for the Honda CR-V automatic transmission:

  1. After we have turned off the engine, we take out the dipstick, clean it and measure the oil level within 60 - 90 seconds. The level should be in the range of marks
  2. We unscrew the drain plug and drain the old oil.
  3. We shoot battery, air filter, and unscrew the external filter, in my case it is held by clamps. We replace it with a new one.
  4. Fill in new oil through the dipstick. By the way, do not forget to screw the drain bolt back.
  5. We run the box within 10 km, in all gears.

Well, that's basically all, I think my manual about a partial oil change in the automatic transmission of a car. Honda CR-V will help you save more than one thousand rubles on maintenance your car.

Honda CRV cars of the 3rd generation are equipped with 2 types of gearboxes - a mechanical six-speed and a five-speed "automatic", which is quite reliable if it is serviced in a timely manner. Changing the oil in a vending machine is a simple and fairly cheap procedure. Let's take a look at how professionals do it.

When to change automatic transmission fluid

The oil in the Honda automatic transmission is changed by mileage - there is no reference to the years of operation. It doesn't matter that it is light and does not smell like burning, no sediment falls out - it will always be like that, but it will begin to lose its properties closer to 40 thousand km. Hence the recommendation - to make a replacement every 30 thousand km. If the car is used in difficult conditions, the fluid is changed more often (every 15-20 thousand km), but partially.

If you do not follow the rules, you will soon have to repair the box.

When buying a car from hands, the oil should be changed immediately, no matter how the previous owner assured you that “just changed it”.

What kind of oil to fill

By design, automatic transmissions of Honda cars differ from boxes of other manufacturers. Parts are made of materials that can withstand high loads and temperatures.

Otherwise, the box is unlikely to live up to the 50-thousandth run. Other oil is not able to maintain its properties at high temperatures - it will just boil.

What is needed

The procedure can be performed if there is a lift, pit or overpass.

You will need:

  • ATF DW1 fluid (four liters);
  • set of tools;
  • container for draining the waste liquid;
  • new aluminum washer for the drain plug;
  • funnel or large syringe with hose and gloves.

Replacement procedure

Engineers of the manufacturing company argue that on Honda SRV cars, oil change in automatic transmissions should be done differently - not like on other cars.

To pump a large amount of "transmission" under pressure - only harm the box. The design of the Honda automatic transmission has features:

  • there is no removable pallet, which makes it impossible to clean it from wear products of rubbing parts. If you try to flush the box under pressure, all the dirt will move to the filter;
  • the filter is also non-removable. To clean it, you need to disassemble (and then correctly assemble!) Almost the entire box, which is very expensive.

When flushing, the filter will become clogged with slag, which will disable the automatic transmission. Due to clogging, the oil pressure increases at the inlet of the system, but there is no more pressure at the outlet of it. The car will not even budge, or it will move at high revs. If you see this, get ready for an expensive automatic transmission repair.

Some Russian service stations are very fond of telling tales about the complex procedure for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 3. Service stations are trying to “rip off” money for this to buy 15 or more liters of fluid.

It is optimal for the third generation Honda CR-V automatic transmission to partially change the fluid - in this case, only 4 liters will be enough:

  • warm up the car and the box to operating temperature, place it on a lift, above a pit or on an overpass;
  • stop the engine, open the hood, wait 5 minutes. Then measure the level with the dipstick. If there is a shortage, top up to the upper mark through the dipstick hole (at its upper mark). Do not put the dipstick back;
  • wait another 10 minutes (so that the liquid cools down) and look for the automatic transmission drain hole. If the protection is installed, it will have to be dismantled. The plug is located to the right of the car's engine near the wheel. Clean it from dirt with an iron brush;
  • Place an empty container with a volume of at least 4 liters under the plug. An empty 5-liter water or washer bottle will do;
  • using a square ⅜, carefully unscrew the plug almost to the end;
  • now put on gloves and completely unscrew the cork without dropping it into the container;
  • let the oil drain completely. A little less than 3.5 liters should flow out;
  • then clean the magnetic part of the plug from chips. Be sure to replace the old plug sealing washer with a new one;

  • measure the volume of the leaked oil. This will tell you how much new fluid you need to add;
  • replace the plug;
  • go to fill. Insert a funnel or a hose with a syringe at the end into the hole of the gearbox dipstick, fill in the fluid as you have drained. It is important not to pour ATF, it is better to add a little later than to pump out the excess;

  • start the car and warm up power unit to operating temperature. Together with it, the automatic transmission will also warm up;
  • switch gears of the box, lingering in each position for 5-10 seconds;
  • stop the engine and wait about 10 minutes. Now measure the level, top up if necessary.
There are opinions that the liquid level should be at the maximum mark or in the middle. And so, and so it will be correct, the main thing is not to overflow.

For a complete oil change, three partial changes must be carried out at intervals of approximately one week. You will have to buy about 12 liters of ATF.

CR-V 2

The procedure is performed in the same way. Only the amount of oil differs: the total volume is 7.2 liters. Partial replacement drains 3.1 liters.

CR-V 4

Changing the automatic transmission oil in a Honda SRV 4 is absolutely the same. With a mileage of 90 thousand km, the external automatic transmission filter also changes. The original number is 25430-PLR-003.

There is nothing complicated in the procedure for changing the oil of an automatic transmission of a Honda CR-V of any generation - if a car service issues an impressive bill for this procedure, refuse and look for a more honest service station.
