More than one thousand articles have probably been written about tuning the 469 series of the UAZ. I found this one at the UAZbook and distinguish it from all the others by its colorfulness, the presence of a large number of photos, the price of tuning the UAZ and a simple writing language. In the future I will write my story, but for now ...

The idea, how to emphasize in particular the 30 - "Jubilee" car, prepared in the Off-road Tourism Workshop - "MVT" - has been ripening for a long time.

And as soon as an offer was received from Dmitry Volkov, the founder of the OJ Company, to promote a new series of front power bumpers on the market, corresponding to the new Tech. Requirements and those who have a number of original ideas embodied in metal - the decision was made.

In the car dealership was purchased new UAZ- 469 new from the DYMOS checkpoint, and after registration was delivered to the MVT Company. Here are some photos of the "old" UAZ 469

Why did you choose 469?

In our opinion, this the most favorable cost-quality ratio.

Good old "kolkhoz" bridges with GP 4.625, if desired, without problems and modifications, it is possible to install 5.125, which is unattainable for "spicers", disc brakes and a spring suspension provide the same level of comfort as the "Hunter".

Derated motor "Euro-1", without electronic pedal gas, with conventional tensioning mechanism drive belts and simpler electronics.

The five-speed DYMOS gearbox ensures proper coupling of the revving engine and transmission.

Tailgate or door, whichever is more convenient? The question is controversial, so to speak: "in taste and color, there is no comrade", but it seems to us that the option of a tailgate for expeditions is more convenient.

Simple metal bumpers, which are all one for emission, and you do not need to overpay for their cost.

The cost of the car in this configuration was 339 thousand, of course, we with a fight abandoned the actively imposed "special stages", we managed to do this, only approximately describing the forthcoming amount of work, which clearly aroused the respect of the manager.

The concept of preparing the car: Hunting - Expeditionary option, however, no matter what, it would be a shame to drive up to the restaurant with a young lady.

The craftsmen set to work with enthusiasm, especially since, as usual at the beginning of the construction process, the passion for destruction that lives in everyone is realized. Everything was dismantled from the car, for which something, someone - fitted and screwed on "unnecessary", namely: standard wheels, bumpers, interior along with ever-moisture-gathering trim, a stove, and the headliner was also dismantled for safety. The car was put on wheels of various colors and sizes, assembled throughout the workshop. The standard wheels, interior, trim and rear bumper found new owners at a fairly high speed.

After dismantling the interior, a huge hole was cut in the ceiling with our own hands, where, using the installation of amplifiers, a huge hunting hatch was inserted, which can be opened to the position: airing, and also taking out the cotter pins (which remain hanging on the chain and are not lost), the hatch completely leans back, and 2 hundred kilogram uncles in winter clothes can easily be placed in the resulting opening. The hatch is sheathed with aluminum and insulated to prevent condensation from forming.

The hatch leans back entirely and in the tilted position is fixed on its own on the counterparts fixed to the trunk.

The floors and inner sidewalls of the car, the tailgate and door cavities, were completely laid, first with vibration insulation, later with soundproofing, and only then sheathed with aluminum, all joints were sealed, and a flat floor was made instead of the "turtle". The UAZ plant probably does not know this technology of noise and water resistance! 🙂

An upper shelf was made, in which, in addition to a niche for cards, cigarettes and other such things, were placed: a radio tape recorder, a radio, a navigational light, a relay block and fuses for additional light headlights on the bumper.

The torpedo was covered with a stylish stainless steel trim, the structure repeating the pattern of the leather interior, moreover, the steering column shroud was re-fabricated and covered with vinyl. Photo pleases:

The tuning of the UAZ 469 salon did not end there! Standard stove, replaced by the NAMI-7 stove with cabin filter, for additional users, the number of cigarette lighter sockets on the torpedo has been increased to 3.

A leather interior from Honda CRV was installed, with separate tilt and longitudinal adjustment of the rear seats and heated front seats, the interior has many opportunities for transformation and easily turns into a comfortable berth for 2 people. Of course! This is the whole tuning of the UAZ salon 🙂 They took and threw out the salon and inserted everything from Honda! Norm, cho! Also thanks to the huge longitudinal adjustment rear sofas, it is very comfortable to stand in full height in the hatch, and during the movement the rear passengers can go with their legs fully extended. With the rear seats fully folded down, there is ample storage space.

The steering wheel has been replaced with a more ergonomic and comfortable one. In the center, which organically fit the emblem of the MVT company.

The rear semicircle windows are tinted.

A ventilated compartment for the second battery is mounted in the floor of the rear part of the body, the buttons for disconnecting both batteries are located to the left of the steering wheel and have an indication of switching on.

A snorkel is brought out of the engine compartment to the roof level.

Tuning of the UAZ 469 suspension

In the car suspension. The decision was also made to make significant changes. Aggressive tuning UAZ 469, so aggressive to the end!

Springs, shock absorbers, springs and salent blocks were replaced with a set of the Australian company DOBINSONS, developed specifically for UAZ cars, which give a suspension lift + 5 centimeters and significantly improve the car's behavior on the road.

External tuning of UAZ

On the front part of the bumper OJ - protected, shockproof halogen headlights with variable focus from LIGHTFORCE are installed.

Below it is possible to see the difference in focusing m / y of the right and left headlights - the left one is adjusted for diffused light, the right one is collected in a beam, on the right photo the LIGHTFORCE headlights are set to a far light and are combined into a beam.

In addition to the frontal light on the bumper, on the OJ expeditionary trunk there is a chandelier for the main and working lights.

Sand tracks are also fixed on the trunk.

After a 5 cm body lift and a suspension lift, NOKIAN wheels with dimensions 285x75x16 were chosen, which were assembled on alloy wheels Korean company SWIGER.

For confident evacuation, to the rear and front bumper and well-proven winches U4х4, with a remote control remote control and 12,500 lb. pulling force.

After, as all the parts were assembled together, the installation of the power body kit provided by the OJ Company began, and the attachment of additional equipment to the body kit.

First, we installed power sills with fuel tank guards.

Later, a front bumper was installed, with a platform for a winch, protective grilles, horns for quick winding of the cable. The bumper and side skirts are connected m / y by removable protective arches.

The protection of the steering rods and side windows were also installed, by the way, the protection of the side windows (with proper fastening) - perfectly serves as steps for accessing the trunk.

At the rear, the currently exclusive OJ bumper was installed, which combines: a power bumper, a platform for a winch, a wicket, a platform for a high-jack, a bracket for a removable towbar, a license plate frame with illumination and a cup holder (where without a cup holder, in during the halt).

As a result, having collected all the components together, we have got: practical, easy to operate, maximally convenient, keeping everything positive traits and acquired new advantages - the good old, brutally beautiful UAZ-469 NEW from the MVT Company.

Originally conceived as an army Gelendvagen (SUV) and a car for the Interior Ministry workers, the first Soviet UAZ-469 was not distinguished by its graceful contours. When developing this model, a practical goal was pursued: increased cross-country ability for work in off-road conditions.

At the same time, another, cargo-and-passenger model "UAZ" appeared, due to the similarity with the standard form of bread, called by the inhabitants "loaf" (UAZ-452). Currently, there are 2 main variants of it: body and onboard (UAZ tadpole). The difference between all UAZ models is the 4x4 wheel arrangement.

Half a century has passed since then, and cars designed for heavy working conditions have found many admirers in the person of hunters, fishermen and athletes, who liked the undemandingness, durability and cross-country ability of UAZ vehicles of various models. Modifications were released for civilian use, for farmers, increased comfort, etc. Each such enthusiast tries with his own hands to make changes to the original appearance of the car.

Can I change in my car?

In fact, you can change anything that pleases the soul of the demanding owner of the UAZ 69, tuning involves the replacement of any unit or assembly. The main thing is to decide for what purpose the changes are being made. To show off on unusual UAZ, tuning can be limited only by external changes: body kits, turning the UAZ into a convertible, painting in camouflage.

Fishermen or hunters may wish to increase ground clearance, install a snorkel, change wheels and make a number of changes as in appearance, and in the design, turning the car into a full-fledged Gelendvagen. And even this will not be enough for sports fans, and they will bring the UAZ 452 (loaf or UAZ tablet) to complete perfection.

There are a few feasible changes to parse for common car models Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant... They are suitable for UAZ 39094 farmer 4x4, for gear UAZ 3151 or export UAZ 31514, UAZ 31512, UAZ 31519.

DIY external tuning

The simplest revision is to change the appearance of the "UAZ". You can start by repainting the body in camouflage colors. It is necessary to take into account the original color: cars UAZ 69 4x4 and UAZ 452 "baton" were produced in 3 basic colors (gray, beige, khaki).

The same is the color of the UAZ 3909, tuning by repainting in camouflage begins with the selection of brown, dark green and black colors for the UAZ, khaki, dark gray, white and black - for the initially gray car. For beige, dark brown, yellow (light) and black are recommended. For painting you will need:

  • 2 cans of paint of each color;
  • masking tape.

Preparatory work consists in removing body kits, mirrors and everything else that will be difficult to clean from paint. The glasses are covered with paper, it is desirable to treat the body with an anti-corrosion compound. After that, in random order, the contours of the spots are marked with tape and painted. It is important to remember that the spots of the lightest shade are applied first, and the black color is left at the end of the work. After drying, the removed parts are returned to their places, and at this the tuning can be considered complete.

A more difficult option is the installation of power kits (bumpers, kangarin, winch and trunk, lighting devices). These accessories are purchased from specialized stores and installed according to the attached instructions. Powerful front and rear bumpers, in addition to decorative functions, will serve as a good service for those who like to go to uninhabited places.

Depending on the complexity of the operating conditions, you should also choose the thickness of the steel from which they are made. Powerful body kits will make the Gelendvagen much heavier. But this will make the car easier to go off-road and shift its center of gravity downward, giving more stability.

Kangurin is a metal arc that is welded onto the bumper from above. This protects against damage to the front of the body and headlights in case of collisions with unexpected obstacles. The winch will come in handy in the event that an untouched place is chosen for the trip. Even a Russian Gelendvagen can get stuck in the mud. It is worth choosing a winch with an effort of at least 5 tons so that its power is sufficient in any difficult case. The roof rack will allow you to purchase additional space to accommodate your cargo.

It should be borne in mind that this load is capable of shifting the center of gravity upward, which, in the event of a lateral roll, can lead to overturning of the UAZ 4x4. Additional lighting devices ("chandelier" or light bar) are usually placed on the trunk. After such tuning, the UAZ 4x4 may look attractive (Fig. 1).

If you have the skills of welding and working on metal, the power bumper can be made independently by notching and bending the channel of the required thickness. The principle of manufacturing such a bumper is shown in Fig. 2 (photo 1 shows the places of cuts, bends and welding, photo 2 shows a finished bumper with a kangarin from an ordinary water pipe of a small diameter). A similar structure can be designed independently for the UAZ "baton".

For 31512, tuning (UAZ convertible) is simple: remove the tarpaulin roof, cut off the door arches, leaving only the windshield with the frame. Since such a revision is made to increase comfort, it is usually supplemented by upholstering the seats in the cabin and installing metal arches over the open body. A set of these can be purchased at the tuning accessories store.

UAZ 4x4 for off-road travel

Anyone who has been where instead of roads there are only directions, knows that the body raised above the ground means a lot when driving on a deep rut or bumps. The increased distance between the wheel axles and the bottom makes it possible to fit large diameter wheels.

This allows you to slightly increase the clearance of the UAZ farmer or tablet, while tuning increases the cross-country ability. The muddy road is not such a big problem. The body lift can be carried out using spacers installed between the body and the "cushion" through which the body is fixed to the frame. To perform body lift you will need:

  • a ready-made set of spacers for UAZ made of caprolon or polyurethane;
  • set of wrenches;
  • jack;
  • elongated bolts, the length of which is equal to the length of the native bolts with the thickness of the spacer.

The revision consists in the fact that the bolts of fastening the body to the frame are unscrewed or cut off, the body is jacked up and spacers are placed on the standard "pillows". After that, the body is lowered and secured with new long bolts through the spacer. In this case, the steering column moves up slightly. To eliminate its tension, the fastening of the crosspiece and the steering shaft is loosened, thereby lengthening it. The cutout in the case for the column is enlarged.

Unexpectedly, it turns out that it is impossible to engage reverse and 4th gears. The malfunction is eliminated by increasing the hole for the gear lever. This completes the tuning of the UAZ farmer with his own hands.

Another way to supply wheels with an increased diameter is to cut the wheel arch. The operation consists in the fact that part of the metal is removed with a grinder along the previously drawn contour of the new arch and the cut is processed by welding a curved profile pipe along its edge. In addition to the fact that it becomes possible to put big wheels, on a used UAZ 69 tuning makes it possible to get rid of the rusted part of the arch. The car takes on a more presentable look. After welding, the seam is cleaned, putty and painted (Fig. 3).

Among the owners of the UAZ 31512, there are many who wish to improve the characteristics of their SUV, while finding a high-quality, step-by-step description of the tuning process is quite difficult. The material described in this article will allow you to achieve the desired goal and, following our recommendations, you can turn your " UAZ "into a full-fledged off-road vehicle for mountainous and forest areas.

To achieve the desired result, we will make the following changes to the design of the SUV:

  • Expansion of the wheel arches;
  • Suspension lift;
  • Installation of large radius wheels;
  • Installation of a snorkel (air intake);
  • Strengthening the protection of steering rods;
  • Installation of a forced blocking system for bridges;

Body tuning

Lifting and preparation for the installation of off-road rubber. And so, as mentioned above, tuning will be carried out in several stages and the first stage will be an increase in the wheel arches. Mainly, this will make it possible to install wheels of a large radius, which will significantly increase the vehicle's cross-country ability.

First, you need to mark the line of the future cut of the arches, stepping back 4-5 cm from the edge of the arch. Next, cut off the excess metal according to the applied markings. The result should look like ( photo 1). After that, it is necessary to strengthen the edges of the arch, for this purpose a metal profile (30 * 60mm) is suitable from which we make a part, as shown in ( photo 2 ) and weld it to the edge of the arch.

The next step will be the body lift, that is, lifting it relative to the axles of the rear and front axles. There are two most common options that can be used individually or in combination. In the first version, for these purposes, you will need standard hockey pucks, which will be installed in two pieces at the junction of the body and frame ( photo3).

In total, they are connected - 12 bolts, respectively, you need 24 washers, in the center of which you need to drill a hole equal to the diameter of the bolts. Also, for these purposes, it is possible to install elongated spring earrings, which can be taken from a Gazelle car. For a more reliable fastening of the springs, in the middle of the earring it is necessary to screw in the tightening bolt ( photo4).

At the end, it will be necessary to replace standard shock absorbers with elongated ones, since the maximum travel of the native shock absorbers is too small.

Now you can freely install imported 35-inch rubber, in our case these are available, while having good characteristics, tires - GoodrichMud-Terrain 35x12.5 R15.

Preparing "UAZ" for water obstacles

To be able to overcome water obstacles, we install a snorkel (air intake) on our "UAZ" with an output of its end on the roof of the car.

To improve the passage of difficult sections, it is also advisable to install a forced wheel locking system on an SUV. This system will completely disengage the differential, which makes it possible to obtain full and even traction. Do not forget to turn off the lock after overcoming difficult areas, as this can lead to damage to the parts of the bridge.

As a result of the changes made, we have a full-fledged all-terrain vehicle capable of overcoming both water obstacles and small mountain passes.

UAZ 469 vehicles are reliable domestically produced vehicles. Tuning UAZ 469 is needed to improve the technical characteristics of the vehicle and create comfortable driving conditions. Many owners tune UAZ for hunting, fishing, long trips, going out into the countryside and other needs.

Some motorists tune the UAZ 469 on their own. There are a number of advantages to self-upgrading your vehicle:

  • The quality of work. When doing work with his own hands, the owner independently controls the entire work process. This allows you to perform work at a high level;
  • Uniqueness. After the modernization process, the car becomes unique;
  • Adaptation to specific tasks. The car owner can tune the car for the necessary purposes;
  • Comfort. For each person, comfort is determined by various details. Therefore, if you do the work yourself, you will be able to make the car comfortable for a particular person.

Before starting tuning, it is necessary to determine for what purpose the car will be used. When intending to travel long distances, the greatest attention should be paid to ride comfort. When upgrading a UAZ for hunting, fishing and other trips to nature, more attention should be paid to cross-country ability and versatility. There is an opportunity to perform tuning UAZ 469, suitable for trips on an asphalt surface and outdoor trips at the same time.

Tuning UAZ can be divided into several types:

  • Interior modernization. Allows you to make driving comfortable;
  • External tuning. Required to create a unique design and install protective structures;
  • Tuning power unit... It makes it possible to increase the power of the standard power plant;
  • Suspension and transmission modernization. Allows you to increase the performance of the vehicle.


Tuning UAZ 469 for hunting and off-road

When upgrading a vehicle for hunting, attention must be paid to improving the vehicle's cross-country ability on difficult sections of rough terrain. The vehicle must be adapted for off-road travel and meet the functional requirements of the hunter.

External tuning

When preparing a car for hunting, it is necessary to make the body parts resistant to blows from branches or stones. For this, the lower part of the UAZ body is sheathed with metal sheets. Thin sheets of aluminum or stainless steel are suitable. Once the sheets have been installed, layers of primer and paint can be applied.

REFERENCE: Some owners install a metal roof rack on the roof. It allows you to transport goods and protects the roof of the car from damage.

When traveling through forests, the UAZ windshield is protected from blows by branches. Protection is carried out in the form of two metal cables.

On one side, they are installed on the front of the wing, or on the "kengurin" on both sides of the car. The second part of the cables is attached in the area of ​​the upper edge of the side windshield pillar. The cables are tensioned and fastened using specialized brackets. During the movement, the blow of the branches falls on the cables, and not on the windshield. You can also read about.

When building a car, given its size, the total future weight, Gas engine(rather big fuel consumption), I decided to provide a good cruising range so as not to drive around the gas station and not store a bunch of canisters in the trunk (during a long hike). The solution to the problem had 2 ways: 1. Weld the required stainless steel tank; 2. Find a suitable one according to the required dimensions. Alas, the first option turned out to be quite costly, in total, in terms of money, taking into account the material and work, it came out about 7-8 thousand rubles. Therefore, it was decided to look for something that would satisfy my needs. After repeated searches and selections of all different fuel tanks, I came across as it seemed to me the best option ... And it turned out to be a 200 liter fuel tank from the AN-2 aircraft made of duralumin-1000 rubles. (lightweight weighs about 6-7 kg.). Few alterations - 500 rubles. (in the boiled filler neck, steam pipes, a place for the intake, a sump with a drain valve). Everything else remained its own, even a sensor with a float, a native aircraft ... In general, the issue has been resolved and full of joy pants)))

In order not to draw undue attention to the gas tank located in the luggage compartment of the car, I decided to hide it from prying eyes ... I used ordinary timber and moisture-resistant plywood (I spilled everything in 2 layers additionally)

In view of the rather difficult operating conditions of the car, and the experienced unbearably hot summer days, I decided to install additional electric fans from the VAZ 21213 (Niva).

According to the well-known drawing of the front power bumper, a group of like-minded people made a device specifically for the modified frame design ... Further painting with polymer paint and installation ...

Taking into account the fact that after assembling the chassis it was quite difficult to drive a car on the road, since yawing was similar to driving the old Zil, I decided to contact the "Camber convergence 3D" station to adjust the convergence (it was very difficult to find a station where they would agree to take on the Oise, even for the standard). But still there was such a hero! This master was not even embarrassed by the appearance of the Oise on non-standard tires. As a result, the convergence was carried out on URA ... There are no discrepancies, the convergence indicators are even less than the tolerance norm ...

Finally, a dream came true, for 3.500 we purchased a metal roof with an excellent removable hatch and a frame windshield with armored glass. These components used to decorate the collector's UAZ. Everything is painted black, before painting, it is suitably processed and seated on a polyurethane sunroof sealant. During the installation, problems arose with the roof itself, although most likely with the body of the UAZ (not quite in perfect condition), since all the points of its attachment had to be untwisted in order to remove the previously created metal stress. As a result, the gaps between the body and the roof became much smaller and the result of their fusion was successful. In addition, the frame with armored glass fell into place after all, creating a rather brutal appearance. Stretching the ceiling created a lot of problems, 2 leatherette ceilings were damaged, all because of the hatch and its non-standard location, in view of which an ordinary black carpet was purchased and bolted.

We decided to pile the acoustic shelf back with a sidekick, so we still could not decide on the front one. I used a glued board with dimensions of 1500X1000X15. The front part was cut out in place, adjusted to the relief of the roof, the lower part was made as wide as possible to accommodate more trash 1420х400х15. Accordingly, space for speakers, a glove compartment, lighting ... There is an idea to tie up a hiding place for a hunting rifle, but so far in deep thoughts. Subsequently, the bskf shelf was spilled, pasted over with thin paralon and trimmed with red leatherette and installed in its intended place

I decided to diversify the interior decoration of my war horse by painting the stove and instrument panel with polymer paint in the color "red gloss"

Winter is just around the corner, and I really want to have a good view ... In view of this, it was decided to improve the already poor airflow. I purchased diffusers from GAZelles (side, old panel). I drilled holes by eye with a metal crown 40 mm. and simply simply cutting off the extra stiffeners on the diffuser, inserted it into the panel, followed by connecting the standard hoses, which were slightly lengthened with a radiator pipe (pre-heating the standard one).

Due to the fact that the new armored glass, or rather its reinforced frame, closed the regular windshield blowing, it was decided to create a new version so that in cold winters not to torment either oneself or the car ... Thus, looking at the already available options on Drive 2, I bought 2 diffusers from VAZ 2106, 2 anthers from the VAZ 2109 front struts and began to sculpt))) ... As always, using a 70mm crown, I cut out holes for diffusers, adjusted the diameter using a round rasp (taking into account the tensioned anthers). On the diffusers, I cut off the standard latches with a clerical knife, pulled the anthers on them (preheating) and inserted them into the holes, leaving the protrusion necessary for me in this case (so that the airflow falls into the center of the windshield). I inserted the standard stove pipes into the anthers, as deep as possible. That's all…
