It is clear that the company's profit is formed on the basis of indicators formed after all taxes have been paid, but even so, the profitability should be three times higher than that of Porsche. Based on the figures voiced by Demarchelle, we tried to calculate how much AVTOVAZ actually earns from its customers, and whether it really needed all these loans and state support during the crisis.

LADA Granta - 200,000 rubles

So, we have almost figured out the Granta. The cost of the minimum configuration of the sedan is 289,000 rubles, the performance of "Lux" is estimated at 488,800 rubles. With an average cost of 388,900 rubles, the weighted average profitability of the line is at least 206,500 rubles. Thus, if we consider that the production costs are equal to 55 thousand, the profitability is about 300%. Even taking into account the tax and other financial burden, on average AVTOVAZ should earn at least 30-35% of its selling price on this model. That is, at least 110 thousand per copy.

The average price of a Granta in the body of a liftback is slightly higher than that of a sedan - 396,150 rubles, provided that a 30 percent profit is maintained, and it is unlikely that it is less than that of a sedan; from each car sold in Togliatti, they earn at least 118,800 rubles. The Sport version for 482 thousand will not be taken into account, because it is still considered not so massive.

By the way, here we took a 30% profit as a basis, which is slightly lower than the figure allegedly declared by the vice president (about 40%), since the most popular are cars with a price tag slightly below average, so the profitability of these modifications is also slightly lower.

LADA Priora - 302,000 rubles

Let's move on to Priora. If the configurator on the official VAZ website is not lying, this model is represented by four modifications at once: coupe, liftback, sedan and station wagon. In order not to bring here complicated mathematical (at the level of the second grade of a general education school) calculations, we only note that the average (arithmetic) cost of each of them is: 440,950, 429,750, 424,850 and 433,450 rubles, respectively. Thus, depending on the modification on the Priora, the plant earns 132.2, 128.9, 127.5 and 130 thousand rubles, and the real cost of the model does not exceed 302,000 rubles. Moreover, the example of the second "ten" is the most indicative here, since the line for its production fully paid off five years ago.

LADA Kalina - 339,000 rubles

With Kalina, things are a little more complicated. Its history more or less resembles the life cycle of a normal European car, so we will take a 20% profitability as a base - after all, investments also need to be compensated somehow. Moreover, investments related to technical update... Indeed, over the past year and a half, AVTOVAZ not only made Kalina 2, but also launched LADA Kalina Cross.

However, lowering the "rate" below the 20% threshold is also quite stupid. Firstly, we are talking here, whatever one may say, about restyling, which costs an order of magnitude cheaper than launching a new model. Secondly, most of the nodes that were used during the debugging, one way or another, will appear on most cars of the current lineup... And on some new products. Including on LADA 4x4 Urban, and on LADA Vesta... However, understanding it above is also not handy: two out of four modifications of the model are quite expensive, and since our calculations are based on average indicators, they spoil the real picture pretty cool.

But let's start. Kalina, like Priora, is sold in four versions at once: hatchback, station wagon, Sport and Cross. Average prices for them are: 386,450, 413,550, 487,100 and 409,000 rubles, respectively. Thus, the average price of a line is 424,000 rubles, which means that even taking into account the investment load from each Kalina AVTOVAZ has at least 85 thousand.

LADA Largus - 346 800 rubles

The Largus station wagon built on the basis of Dacia is terra incognita in this case. We do not reliably know (and will hardly ever know) under what conditions AVTOVAZ got it. The only thing that is obvious is that Renault-Nissan did not give it away for free. Perhaps they paid for it in rubles, perhaps in euros, or maybe in yen or yuan ... It is also possible that it was credited as part of the payment for a stake in the plant or other preferences. So here we went with the standard 25 percent scheme.

The cheapest Largus costs 363,000 rubles, the most expensive - 465,200, and soon, as you know, we will get a couple of luxury versions - Cross and VIP, so the family's profitability will increase significantly. Now, however, neither one nor the other is on sale, so we got by with the current positions.

The station wagon, as you know, is offered in three versions - an all-metal van, a five-seater passenger car and a seven-seater passenger car. The first is the most budgetary one. The average cost here is 398,800 rubles. The second version is 430,733 rubles. The most expensive - 468,850 rubles. The average cost of a family, thus, almost reached the mark of 432,800 rubles. But, one way or another, AVTOVAZ has its own 86 thousand from each Largus. The price tag for the car itself does not exceed 350 thousand.

LADA 4x4 - 250,000 rubles

The good old "Niva" remained. More precisely, LADA 4x4, because the Niva brand has been owned by GM for more than 10 years. However, this car has not lost its relevance until now. Moreover, in Togliatti, for several days now, they have been assembling a new version of Urban suitable for urban use with air conditioning, power accessories and plastic bumpers, the price tag of which is set at around 430,000 rubles. However, it has not yet appeared on sale, so we limited ourselves to two old versions, differing in the number of doors and wheelbase.

The short version costs 364,500 rubles today, and the long version costs exactly 400,000. Thus, the average cost of a 4x4 is 382,250 rubles. Throughout its history, the classic "Niva" has already paid for itself five times, the investment component is negligible. As, by the way, and marketing - today only a clinical idiot does not know about the existence of this model. AVTOVAZ, by and large, here is spent only on production, wages and taxes with fees, so a 35% profitability in this case will be a fairly fair parameter. If we are right, the Togliatti auto giant earns 135 thousand rubles for every 4x4. The car itself costs him a quarter of a million.

This is our arithmetic. Recall that these are only our own assumptions, because there are no official comments from the plant. Moreover, it is far from the fact that Hugues Demarchelle really made these data public. One way or another, the information got into the media through third parties and none of the journalists heard them.

However, all this is very similar to the truth. Prices for AVTOVAZ products were greatly inflated even before the introduction of protective duties on foreign cars. They are also the reason that the sales of Togliatti dealers are declining from year to year, and the manufacturer is rapidly losing market share.

The third negative aspect is the principles of market pricing. Under normal conditions, he himself would have set "fair" price tags, especially since there were all the prerequisites for this, but the price dictates of AVTOVAZ, coupled with explicit state support, raised the lower bar by at least a quarter. As a result, the client is forced to overpay for everything: for LADA, and for Renault, and for KIA with Hyundai, and for Toyota, and for Mercedes ... car companies, not at all embarrassed, said that they would go to zero only if prices fell by 15-20 percent. AVTOVAZ, as you can see, remains the champion today. At the same time, it is a chronically unprofitable enterprise.
