This car has won love and respect among car owners in all CIS countries. This is not surprising, because for many years it has been providing the most favorable ratio between prestige and price! So new Skoda model Octavia A7 (we wrote about the previous one), there is no doubt that it will not shame its predecessors, because it has absorbed all the best and has become even a little better.

Reviews of the Skoda Octavia:

Exterior:

  • It is made in the best traditions of the Volkswagen concern. Smooth lines, deliberate modesty, successfully combined with style, charisma and solidity - this is exactly the impression the new A7 makes. In profile, it is very similar to a sedan, the branded radiator grill has not gone anywhere, the modest and solid stern is decorated with the same lamps. Truly - "Simply brilliant!"
  • The universal is less popular, but created according to the same principles - rationalism at the head of the image.
  • However, such an officialdom may not be to everyone's liking. The classic and, to some extent, insipid design is clearly not to the liking of fans of eccentric and stylish sports cars from Japan and France, although in terms of dynamics, the Octavia may have odds with many of them ...

Engines:

Traditionally for the German car industry, a wide range of power units, among which there are both gasoline and diesel.

The list opens with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine. Despite the modest volume, its characteristics are impressive - thanks to the turbocharging, the engine power is 105 hp. s, and the torque is 175 Nm! Moreover, it is already available from 1400 rpm. It accelerates the car to a hundred in 10.3 seconds, which is very good for such a modest volume. Even with him at the crossroads you will not have to peer into the footsteps of the leaders.

Next comes a turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol unit. It is even more powerful - 140 "horses" under the hood and as much as 250 Nm of traction, which is available from 1500 rpm! Not all competitors can come close to such numbers. Acceleration to hundreds in 8.4 seconds. impressive ... it perfect option both for the city and for the highway.

Well, the 1.8TSI engine became the most powerful and fastest. This "beast" produces 180 liters. with. and has a diesel traction of 250 Nm, and it is available from the very bottom - from 1250 rpm! 7.3 sec. up to 100 km / h! With him, you can leave behind all the assorted bully at traffic lights. In addition, all these engines are not only powerful and high-torque, but also very economical - gasoline consumption does not exceed 6.4 liters when driving in a combined cycle.

The 2-liter, 143-horsepower turbodiesel also stands apart. It just has a huge torque of 320 Nm, and it delivers maximum thrust in the optimal operating range - from 1750 to 3000 rpm. At the same time, fuel consumption is surprisingly low - only 5 liters in the "city-highway" cycle. Nevertheless, in spite of the fact that he consumes "diesel fuel", with acceleration to a hundred in 8.9 seconds. such an engine will leave behind many "gasoline workers".

  • The disadvantages of such power units include the complexity of the design and, as a result, the high cost of operation and repair, as well as great risks when buying a car for secondary market- Octavia A7 may require a serious application of hands and funds ...

Gearbox, suspension and drive:

With regard to the undercarriage, different versions there are major differences. The front suspension for all modifications is made according to the standard and time-tested McPherson scheme. As for the rear, there is an independent multi-link on the modifications with the 1.8TSI engine. In all other cases, a torsion beam is installed at the back. In principle, even the beam fully justifies itself in terms of handling, however, the presence of a top-end engine of 180 "horses" obliges ... In a pair of such a suspension, only front-wheel drive is available.

Gearboxes are also tricky. The car can be equipped with either "mechanics" or "automatic", but this is not a traditional torque converter, but a preselective transmission, which provides dynamics and efficiency, not worse, and sometimes even better than with a "handle". In addition, there are no jolts and pauses when switching, typical for a conventional automatic transmission.

The number of gears in the manual transmission varies - if the weakest version with a 1.2 TSI engine has a 5-speed gearbox, then all other petrol modifications are equipped with MT with 6 gears. What is most interesting - manual transmission is not provided for diesel engines at all.

DSGs can also be different - gasoline models are equipped with a 7-band box, while only a 6-band is available for a turbodiesel.

  • Such a variety of choices, of course, cannot but rejoice, but for the owner, this abundance can turn into considerable expenses. If to manual transmission questions almost never arise, then in relation to preselective transmissions there are more than enough of them. With a long ride, the box heats up, jerks and jerks appear when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. Besides, given type The checkpoint is extremely expensive to repair due to the complexity of the design and relative novelty. Therefore, when purchasing a car with DSG, service must be carried out exclusively at the dealer and not "fly away" from the warranty.

Interior:

The salon is made in German soundly and efficiently. As in the exterior, officialdom prevails in the interior. The location of the controls is thought out as if a car is made for each client individually - you can use the keys and dials with your eyes closed. The seats are very comfortable, the "tidy" is perfectly readable, the steering wheel fits nicely in your hands, there is enough space in the back for three passengers, and you can take 568 liters of luggage on the way (1558 liters with the rear sofa unfolded!).

  • However, the story with the exterior may repeat itself - many do not like such "dryness" and severity in the interior of the "Czech". Many say that the word design is alien to the creators of Skoda. However, design is not for everybody.

Prices:

The price of this car starts at RUB 589,900. That is how much they ask for the basic version with a 1.2 TSI engine and manual transmission. For DSG, you will have to pay already from 647,900 rubles. 1.4-liter modification will cost from 764,900 rubles. for manual transmission and from 804 900 rubles. for AT. The top motor costs from 839,900 rubles. for "mechanics" and from 879,900 for "automatic". Diesel price tag - from 924 900 rubles

The legendary Skoda Octavia turns 60 this year. It's time to remember the pros and cons of the latest, most current generation.

It's like Golf, only better

Golf is one of the best-selling cars in the Old World and the main donor of VAG. From its base they receive Seat Leon, Audi A3, Golf Sportsvan and Tiguan. The Octavia also borrowed the golf platform, but in a more sophisticated way.

Firstly, the Czechs found extra millimeters of legroom and liters for luggage, it would seem, where there is nowhere to take them. Therefore, the Octavia has the most spacious trunk and rear sofa in the class.

Secondly, the Skoda developers have thought through everything to the smallest detail. The A7 has ashtray smartphone holders and ribbed cup holders that can be opened with one hand. Plus an ice scraper in the fuel filler flap and optional dog harnesses! On the way out, this is the most practical family car.

Why Octavia is better than competitors

Skoda Octavia is a really practical car. Her dignity - good overview for the driver, space for passengers, roomy trunk at 568 liters. Plus, it's technologically advanced. This applies to:

  • the overall lightness of the MQB platform;
  • suspension settings that make driving enjoyable;
  • accuracy of responses to gas;
  • the rate of fire of the gearbox, after which, say, Renault or Toyota variators will be simply painful.

It is also better in terms of content. Back in 2013, the Octavia automatically kept itself in the lane and steered away from the markings if the driver was distracted or started to fall asleep. The Japanese offered analogs of the system of keeping in the lane only five years later.

The same with multimedia. From the very beginning, the A7 had different options for standard head units - from simple five-inch radio tape recorders and "combines" to seven-inch "heads" with advanced navigation.

In general, despite the conservative appearance and family status, Octavia is not alien to innovation and is liked by a wide range of buyers, rather than competitors.

By tradition, Octavia received:

  • two body types: liftback and station wagon;
  • six engines: 1.2; 1.4; 1.8; 2.0 turbo, naturally aspirated 1.6 and diesel 2.0;
  • two special versions: the sporty RS and the off-road Scout.

With 1.2 turbo A7 entered our market in 2013. The nameplate on such an oversized car is an outright mockery, although it gives out characteristics at the level of 1.6.

After 2014 on Russian "Octavias" the base was 1.6 liters per 110 liters. with. from the new EA211 line. It differs from the old one - a timing chain drive, an aluminum cylinder block and an intake manifold built into the cylinder head.

The 1.4L and 1.8L turbo engines are similar in torque (250 Nm), but differ in suspension combinations. From 1.4 there is a beam, from 1.8 there is a multi-link at the back. Multi-link "Octavias" are more versatile and better cope with changeable terrain.

Diesel 2.0 went unnoticed. Russian people do not want such motors, and in vain. There are fierce 320 N * m of thrust, a consumption of about 5 liters per 100 km on the highway and a minimum vibration load. Diesel "Octavias" held out until the 2017 restyling and disappeared into oblivion.

Modifications

And while we're on the subject of exoticism, it's time to remember the charged RS and the workers 'and peasants' version of the Scout. The hot hatch RS in this generation has a 2.0 turbo engine blown up to 220 hp. with., sporty suspension settings, sporty interior and customizable exhaust sound. It turned out quickly and practically, therefore RS'ka enjoyed a small but steady demand.

Scout was the last to appear. This is a station wagon with a ground clearance of 171 mm, phenomenal volume (588-1718 l) and a trunk layout, a protective body kit around and four-wheel drive... In Russia, it is only available with a 1.8 turbo.

All-wheel drive modifications of the A7, except for the Scout, are also found. Before restyling, only the Combi were equipped with a 4x4 system with a Haldex clutch. After restyling, she appeared on liftbacks.

Transmissions

In terms of transmissions, the Octavia A7 is a typical VW product. The initial versions are aggregated by mechanics, an aspirated 1.6 - 6-band automatic machine Aisin. Paired with small turbo engines (1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI), a seven-speed DSG robot works, with older gasoline and diesel engines- six-step.

The differences between transmissions are significant:

  • Skoda Octavia's Aisin machines are the most durable and non-capricious. Of the minuses - it is necessary to change the oil more often and avoid overheating, since the valve body and clutches do not like high temperatures.
  • Seven-speed DSGs have a reputation for being the most flawed, which isn't always true. After 2012 VW revised their design, and after 2014-2015. complaints about crumbling clutches and mechatronics have dropped dramatically.
  • Sores in the six-speed DSG "Skoda Octavia" are minimal. They are more tenacious, because the clutches there work in an oil bath, that is, they better tolerate mechanical and thermal loads.

Difficulties of choice and cons of "Skoda Octavia"

The turbo engines cause complaints. But if you look at the total circulation of cars sold, it becomes clear that you should not take conversations about the fragility of turbines or oil scraps to heart. Overall, the Octavias are hardy and robust. The rest are exceptions to the rules, often arising from improper operation.

The reliability of the car is evidenced by its demand in taxi companies. Almost every seventh Octavia, as shown by an analysis of 40 random reports requested through March through May, works in a taxi. For purchase, such a "Skoda Octavia" will not work. Too shabby both morally and technically, it can be on lease or as a pledge and have a bunch of other problems:

The most common problems of a used A7, according to Avtokod statistics, is the calculation renovation works(18 out of 40), road traffic accidents (14 out of 40) and unpaid fines (7 out of 40). We met copies with twisted mileage - 3 out of 40 and a duplicate PTS (2 out of 40). 2 cars turned out to be pledged, 5 cars were leased.

Prices for Skoda Octavia A7 in the secondary market

Pre-styling A7s are richly presented. You can find all motors, special versions, option packages. 1.2 TSI + DSG is the smallest option. The price varies from 400 to 725 thousand rubles for copies with a mileage of no more than 60 thousand km.

1.4 TSI + DSG are more common. Prices range from 450 thousand for pre-styling versions to more than 1.4 million for restyled copies.

Variations with engines 1.8 and 2.0 TSI and DSG are sold in the range of 459 thousand -1.6 million rubles.

For RS they ask from 360 to 980 thousand.

The average price tag for "Scouts" is 857 thousand rubles:

Should I buy

Concluding the review, let's say that it is worth taking the Skoda Octavia. She is comfortable, spacious, ideal for a family. If you are looking for an affordable copy for 350-400 thousand, take a closer look at a car with an aspirated 1.6 liter. But keep in mind that most of these have a taxi past and huge mileage.

If you want to "rock", take the RS, if you go far and with a full trunk - Scout. But in the first case, the car can be tired from starts with two pedals at traffic light races, in the second - from long runs to the Kola Peninsula and back.

When choosing, watch ads from private traders, and not in a soulless trade-in. And to be calm, check the history of the Skoda A7. After all, a family car should give you peace of mind.

Have you had any experience of owning a Skoda Octavia? What problems did you encounter during operation? Let us know in the comments.

Skoda Octavia of the third generation under the A7 index is the sales leader in the golf class on the Russian market. Selling Better Than Volkswagen jetta, Toyota corolla, Kia cerato, Hyundai elantra and other representatives of the C-class.

This car is loved for its modern appearance, thoughtful interior design, powerful and economical engines, as well as a roomy and functional trunk. Simply put - Octavia looks great, rides fast, it is comfortable and spacious inside.

The perfect car? I would not rush to answer this question in the affirmative. Not everything is as smooth as it seems at first glance. Like any other car, the Octavia has its own weak spots and the problems that will be discussed in this article.

1) DSG-7... Many car enthusiasts have heard of problems robotic boxes how they break, require repair and, of course, financial investments. Octavia did not bypass this problem.

The seven-speed DSG-7 robot, indexed DQ200, has undergone a deep modernization after 2014. However, even on these models, released after 2014, the mechatronics and clutches often fail. This usually happens at 70-100,000 kilometers.

In the photo - DSG-7 DQ200

And on cars of 2013, owners have to meet with such a problem more often. There mechatronics and clutch die every 40-60,000 km. However, if you installed upgraded parts, then their resource will be greater.

By the way, even for cars manufactured before 2014, the manufacturer gave a 5-year warranty or 150,000 km of run. And on the model from 2014 - a warranty of only 2 years.

The cost of a new clutch is up to 30,000 rubles, mechatronics - from 50,000 rubles. Work - 10-15,000 rubles. And this is not from official dealers.

Therefore, before buying an Octavia with a DSG robot, be sure to diagnose the box from an authorized dealer. They will determine exactly how long she has left to live.

2) Turbocharged engines 1.4 TSI CHPA (140 HP), 1.4 TSI CZDA, CZEA (150 HP and 1.8 TSI CJSA; CJSB (180 HP). These are high-torque and economical engines. For example, the 150 HP version with the DSG robot accelerates to the first hundred in just 8.1 seconds, and the average fuel consumption is 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers. According to the passport, in practice, about 7 liters on average. car.

But there is one caveat under the name, or rather its actuator (pressure regulator). It can fail on almost any run, most often after 70,000 km. Official dealer often claims that the actuator cannot be replaced separately and that a complete turbocharger must be purchased. The price of the new turbine is 116,000 rubles. You can find a used one with a working actuator.

But it's worth noting that some dealers help owners purchase the actuator separately. The price is about 13-15,000 rubles. Some of the owners independently repair the actuator.

3) Aspirated oil oil 1.6 MPI (110 HP). It would seem that naturally aspirated engine without a turbine should be simple and hassle-free. But not in this case. Owners have to add 300-400 ml of oil per 1000 km of run. The manufacturer is not going to fix this problem in any way and indicates in the operating instructions that, depending on the driving style and operating conditions, oil consumption can be up to 0.5 liters per 1000 km.

There is a nuance in which the oil consumption increases - this is driving in traffic jams. If you drive mainly on the highway, then you will have to add no more than 1 liter per 10,000 km of run, and when driving in traffic jams, 2, or even 3 liters of oil.

Some owners claim that when filling with oil with a viscosity of 0W30, the oil burner passes.

At the same time, the 110-horsepower aspirated engine is really reliable. Many taxi companies in large cities use Octavia with this engine and the mileage there reaches 200-300,000 km without major repairs.

Despite their weak sides Skoda Octavia A7 continues to be the leader in the C-class. It is very liquid in the secondary market, it loses little in price and is sold quickly. Apparently, those who buy Octavia know what they are doing and its undoubted advantages overlap the disadvantages.

The third generation Skoda Octavia debuted at the end of 2012. It is built on the modular MQB platform - the one that underlies the VW Golf VII and many other models of the German VW Group.

Compared to the second generation, the third Octavia has grown significantly. For example, the wheelbase has increased by 10.8 cm. The dimensions call into question the positioning as a compact car. This model turned out to be somewhere between the C and D classes. Despite the increase in dimensions, the weight has decreased by almost 100 kg.

Octavia, as before, was offered in two body styles: liftback and station wagon. The trunk of both versions is simply huge: 590-1580 and 610-1740 liters, respectively.

Fortunately, the manufacturer did not skimp on amplifiers in critical locations. Skoda Octavia A7 earned 5 stars in crash tests. The predecessor was able to get only four stars.

In early 2017, a restyled version with twin headlights was introduced.

Modern equipment

Basic modifications of the Octavia A7 were completed mechanical box transmission, air conditioning, electric and heated outside mirrors, front electric windows, 2 airbags, ABS and central locking.

For an additional fee, it was possible to significantly expand the level of equipment. For example, purchase a two-piece panoramic sunroof, active cruise control, emergency braking system, lane assist, keyless entry and much more. The predecessor could not offer so much modern equipment.

Czech cars are appreciated for many useful solutions in the cabin (Simply Clever): a cooled, temperature-controlled glove box, a vest under the driver's seat, openings in the front doors that can hold 1.5 liter bottles, an umbrella in a station wagon or the famous green glass scraper under the lid filling flap.

The dimensions of the cabin delight people in the first and second rows. Passengers with long legs on the backseat won't have to complain about discomfort on long journeys.

Engines

One of the popular gasoline engines is the 1.4 TSI. The third Octavia uses its revised version EA211. Instead of a timing chain, a timing belt is installed here. The engine has not yet created major problems, and the oil consumption is within reasonable limits. Nothing is heard about the accumulation of carbon deposits.

However, many owners have to deal with turbocharging malfunctions. The problem is in the turbine actuator that wedges. Until September 2014, it was integrated into the turbocharger, so the entire unit had to be replaced. After that, it became possible to change the actuator separately from the turbine.

Some owners point to the fact that the upgraded 1.4 TSI is much louder than the previous EA111. Perhaps it's all about simplified noise isolation.

The reliability of 1.2 TSI is also well rated. True, its power is clearly not enough for such a large car. The most powerful 1.8 and 2.0 TFSIs are the same EA888 with a timing chain drive. Fortunately, problems with the timing drive have not yet been encountered, and the issue of oil consumption is not as acute as before.

The new naturally aspirated 1.6 liter (now with a chain-type timing drive) is sometimes closer to 100,000 km, rather disappointing noisy work a gasoline pump or phase shifter.

The thermostat is a common ailment in gasoline-powered cars. Its malfunction can lead to underheating, and sometimes to overheating of the engine. He can refuse after 10-20 thousand km. After 50-100 thousand km, the pump can also fail.

The 1.6 TDI CR replaced the 1.9 TDI. It was not offered in Russia. In the basic version, the young motor has the same power and torque as old engine... But the 1.6 TDI consumes less fuel - about 5.5 l / 100 km. Even when fully loaded, it burns about 6.5 l / 100 km. Typical problem a small diesel engine - premature failure of the water pump. Another common ailment is the failure of the charge air sensor.

No less good is the 2.0 TDI CR (150 or 184 hp). Its main vulnerability is the timing belt tensioner, which cannot withstand the 200,000 km allotted to it. It has to be changed closer to 150,000 km.

Transmission

The most expensive faults are associated with transmissions. For example, there is premature wear of bearings in manual transmissions. In this case, a characteristic noise appears.

The notorious DSG has not relieved the owners of their anxiety. Although we must admit - the percentage of faults has decreased. The worst opinions are collected by DSG7 (DQ200) with dry clutch. After 150-200 thousand km, repair is almost impossible to avoid. However, there are also positive examples with trouble-free mileage of more than 350,000 km. Most often you have to change the clutch and release bearing, less often mechatronics. It is noteworthy that until 2014 the robot's warranty was 5 years, and after that it was reduced to 2 years.

The DSG6 (DQ250) with an oil bath clutch turned out to be much more durable. It is used only in combination with a 2-liter turbodiesel. DSG7 wet clutch is only for RS version with gasoline engine with a capacity of 245 hp.

The hydromechanical automatic machine went to the 1.6-liter aspirated. It does not cause any complaints yet.

Undercarriage

The universal platform made it possible not only to increase the wheelbase, but also to use different kinds pendants. Depending on the engine version in the Octavia, a torsion beam or a lever system is installed at the rear. The multi-link scheme is used in the most powerful modifications of 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI (RS), as well as in the presence of an all-wheel drive system.

The suspension has a decent lifespan, but often pesters with knocks, especially at the rear in the beam versions. It is possible to get rid of noise by replacing standard shock absorbers for analogues. The knock in the front end, as a rule, occurs due to the banal wear of the struts and stabilizer bushings.

Typical problems and malfunctions

The first customers faced electrical failures. In most cases, it was possible to get rid of ailments by updating the software. There were also problems with electric windows. After replacing the switch, the problem did not return.

The touch screen of the Balero head unit is often buggy - it stops responding to touches, especially in wet weather. Dealers change the screen, and in the meantime, the owners have found a simple solution - to use a screen protector.

In a car with xenon, the headlight washer sometimes refuses. Due to damage to the spring, the injector remains in the open position. The service completely changes the atomizer.

Another childhood illness is the spontaneous lowering of the back of the driver's seat with mechanical position adjustment.

Special versions

Skoda Octavia RS

Octavia RS III presented at the 2013 Goodwid Festival of Speed. Like its predecessor, it was equipped with two engines: a gasoline 2.0 TSI / 220 hp. and diesel 2.0 TDI / 184 hp The RS has big brakes, lowered suspension and sports seats.

In 2015, a more powerful version of the RS 230 was presented with a 10 hp boost. 2.0 TSI and electronically controlled differential. She is capable of accelerating to 250 km / h. In 2017, another limited edition RS 245 with a capacity of 245 hp was presented.

Skoda Octavia Scout

The Scout version appeared in 2014 and was based on the Octavia Combi 4x4. It has an increased ground clearance (31 mm), special overlays for the body and 17-inch wheel disks... The transmission uses a 5th generation Haldex clutch. All Scouts, as well as all-wheel drive modifications, have multi-link rear suspension.

Conclusion

The strengths of the Skoda Octavia are its huge interior and trunk, good equipment and the latest German Volkswagen technology. Today gasoline engines practically do not cause concern, but the DSG robot still haunts its owners.

The 3rd generation Skoda Octavia (A7 body) was one of the first to receive a new modular MQB platform as a base. The car body is a light and rigid structural structure made of 26.2% ultra-high-strength steels. In the Euro NCAP safety tests, the car confidently earned the maximum five stars.

The Skoda Octavia A7, whose sales began in 2013, is characterized by an abundance of modifications formed by various combinations of bodies, power units and transmissions. So, along with the classic versions of Skoda Octavia (liftback) and Skoda Octavia Combi (station wagon) there is an off-road modification (station wagon with increased ground clearance and four-wheel drive), as well as sports variations and the Octavia Combi RS.

On Russian market new model from Skoda came out exclusively with turbocharged engines. At the time of the start of sales, the following units were in the arsenal of an ordinary liftback:

  • 1.2 TSI 105 HP, 175 Nm. Combines with 5MKPP or "robot" 7DSG.
  • 1.4 TSI 140 HP, 250 Nm. Works in tandem with a 6-speed "mechanics" or 7-band DSG.
  • 1.8 TSI 180 HP, 250 Nm. The pair of gearboxes is the same as that of the 140-horsepower turbo engine.
  • 2.0 TDI 143 hp, 320 Nm. The only diesel engine is aggregated with a 6-speed robotized DSG transmission.

All of these configurations were available for both the liftback and the station wagon. However, the Octavia Combi also had one all-wheel drive version with a 1.8 TSI 180 hp engine. and 6-speed DSG.

During the revision of the engine range in 2014-2015, the Skoda Octavia A7 not only acquired a new base engine, but also received modernized versions of the remaining ones. The current line of engines includes units:

  • 1.6 MPI 110 HP, 155 Nm. The atmospheric unit with multipoint injection replaced the 1.2 TSI turbocharged four. The engine has been assembled in Kaluga since September 2015 and, in addition to Octavia, is installed on and.
  • 1.4 TSI 150 HP, 250 Nm.
  • 1.8 TSI 180 HP, 250 Nm.
  • 2.0 TDI 150 HP, 320 Nm.

All-wheel drive is still available along with a 180-horsepower turbo engine and 6DSG only for the Skoda Octavia Combi station wagon.

The upgraded TSI units perform well in terms of gas mileage. The fuel consumption of the Skoda Octavia A7 1.4 TSI averages 5.3-5.5 liters, the version with the 1.8 TSI engine consumes about 6-6.2 liters, the diesel version burns no more than 5 liters per 100 km.

The cargo compartment of the hatchback with the backrests up rear seats holds 568 liters, when folded - 1558 liters. The trunk volume of the Skoda Octavia A7 Combi station wagon is only slightly larger - 588 and 1718 liters, respectively.
