Now let's talk about replacing oils in automatic transmission Honda... The most important question is when should you change the oil?

If everything is more or less clear with the engine - the replacement time can be judged either by the mileage or by the color of the oil, then in the automatic transmission Honda oil changes only by mileage. Often, having stopped by a service station with a request to change the oil, a person hears from a pseudo-master, “why do you need to change it, it’s clean and doesn’t smell” ?! Remember: ATF Z1, judging by the drop of oil on the dipstick, does not change color, smell, and consistency until irreversible processes of destruction of the automatic transmission begin.

Drain the purest (as indicated by the dipstick) oil, and you will see that in fact it is not so clear. The special fluid for automatic transmission does not contain special detergents, therefore, if the unit does not begin to wear severely, it will not turn very black. Slight darkening is acceptable, but black liquid on the dipstick usually indicates that the automatic transmission is asking for a replacement.

That is why two rules should be observed - first, if the car was constantly serviced by a good master, then the replacement of the special fluid is made every 30,000 - 35,000 km. In the conditions of the northern regions, it makes sense to reduce the interval to 25,000 - 30,000 km. And the second rule, if you bought a car and do not know when the oil in the automatic transmission was changed, do not save, and change it immediately.

In Russia, there is a terrible tale about the complexity and high cost of replacing fluid in a Honda automatic transmission. At many service stations, colossal amounts of liquid (up to 16 liters!) Are prescribed for this harmless process, as well as expensive installations for pumping oil under pressure. Paradoxically, it is precisely this approach that destroys the automatic transmission. The fact is that many masters approach the issue of oil change in Honda automatic transmissions from the position of oil change in automatic transmissions of other cars, and you and I already know that these boxes are structurally different.

We will try to describe the process of changing the oil in a Toyota automatic transmission so that it is clear what the mistake of many masters when approaching Honda is. When changing the fluid in a Toyota automatic transmission, a special flushing fluid is used, which is certainly useful for an automatic transmission of this brand. Further, in the process of changing the oil, the automatic transmission filter is removed, which can be disposable (it changes), or stationary (reusable, it is cleaned either mechanically or by flushing fluid). The pallet is removed, the deposits that inevitably settle at the bottom of the pallet are washed out, the pallet is put into place on a new gasket. It would seem that everything is simple and clear. But, approaching Honda with the same order of things, we find the following - the box does not have a removable pallet! As a result, it will no longer be possible to clean the sump from deposits. Then, it turns out that the turbidity raised by the flushing liquid should settle in the filter, which must be replaced. And here the catch number two lies in wait - the filter is in the middle of the box, between the two halves of its case, and you can change it only by removing and disassembling the box. Not a single service station in the world will offer you in a sober mind to do this incredibly time-consuming and expensive operation when changing the oil in an automatic transmission.

What is fraught with such an incorrect replacement procedure as replacing "on the device"? Firstly, the failure of the automatic transmission filter. A filter clogged with deposits simply does not allow liquid to pass through itself, creating an enormous oil pressure at the inlet, while there is simply no pressure at the outlet. Of course, finding yourself in such a position, hydraulic system the box simply does not withstand the loads and breaks down. The most common symptom of a breakdown in this case is the inability to move the car from a place with the D4 selector lever position. As a rule, the car roars like a wounded animal, but cannot move. Sometimes, it happens, it starts moving, but at 3000 rpm. In fact, this means the death of the automatic transmission, in this case a very expensive and long-term repair is required, which is sometimes equal to half the cost of the car. How can you avoid this? It is necessary to change the oil in the automatic transmission correctly, and we will tell you how to do it right below.

Automatic transmission is one of the most technically complex components of any car. An automatic transmission always requires increased attention and proper maintenance, and if the filter of the box is also changed within the terms set by the manufacturer of the automatic transmission, the box will last its entire service life without requiring overhaul... Changing the oil in the automatic transmission in Honda SRV 3 can be done independently.

Features of automatic transmission Honda CRV 3-1

The third generation of CR-V crossovers is equipped with two gearbox options:

  • mechanical 6-speed;
  • 5-speed automatic transmission.

Automatic transmission, controlled by the original Grade Logic control unit, ensures smooth change of transmission stages and low fuel consumption, in comparison with "mechanics". The box ECU shifts gears based on the readings of numerous sensors:

  • speed;
  • engine speed;
  • slope;
  • pedal positions, etc.

All this allows you to change gears in an optimal way.

The automatic transmission was designed by Honda engineers. It uses special materials designed for high temperatures and "harsh" operating conditions. But to ensure smooth operation box, it needs a regular replacement of the transmission oil. Symptoms indicate the need for an immediate oil change:

  • "Kicks" of the box when depressing the accelerator pedal;
  • overgasm, frequent slippage;
  • felt when driving;
  • and other behavioral anomalies.

But this happens already with worn-out oil, which has not changed for a long time. If the replacement is carried out on time, the box continues to work without interruptions and problems. The official recommendation is every 30-35 thousand km. In Russian realities, this period can be halved, since cars with automatic transmissions are sometimes operated in rather harsh conditions. It is advisable to do the prevention of the box with an oil change in the automatic transmission Honda SRV and when buying a used car.

Important: the degree of oil wear in automatic box Honda SRV is determined by real mileage... The popular method of visually inspecting transmission oil for color and sediment does not work as CRV transmission fluid is not prone to change in consistency and light. Only its cooling and lubricating properties are deteriorating, which are lost after about 40 thousand km.

What kind of oil and how much is needed

There is an opinion among car owners that any oil can be poured into an automatic transmission, as long as it fits within the tolerances. This is categorically incorrect: the experts of the Honda concern strongly recommend using only original oil, otherwise, rapid wear of the box is likely.

Until 2011, Honda-Z1 grease was used in the boxes, which was also poured into the automatic transmission Honda SRV RD 1, of the first generation:

In car models produced after 2011, the new ATF DW-1 fluid is used.

Interesting: oil for automatic transmission Honda SRV DW-1 and Z1 are compatible, and allowed partial replacement old oil boxes for a new fluid, without removing the old one.

To change the oil in the automatic transmission Honda SRV 3, you will need about 10 liters of fluid in full, for a partial one - about 4.

Transmission Oil Change Procedure

V Honda cr-v 3 and generation 1 crossovers, the fluid can be changed in two ways:

  • complete;
  • partial.

Complete replacement

It is better to carry out it in a car service, for this you will need about 10 liters. oils. Usually, with a complete replacement, it is customary to change the filter, but the peculiarity of the Honda SRV 3 automatic transmission is that the filter is non-removable, located in the middle of the box, therefore, even in a car service, it is suggested to carry out the procedure without changing the filter element of the box. If it is nevertheless changed, the box will first have to be dismantled and disassembled, which significantly increases the cost of the procedure.

In addition to the internal one, the Honda SRV 3 box also has an external filter that you can change yourself. Its scheduled replacement period is every 90 thousand km. Part code - 25430-PLR-003 (oil filter):

The reason for this: there is no removable pallet in the "automatic" from Honda. This means that it is physically and technically impossible to remove the pallet and clean it from the accumulated deposits. And if you rinse the box with oil under strong pressure, the suspension will rise from the non-removable sump and contaminate the oil filter of the Honda SRV 3 automatic transmission, which, in turn, will lead to its laborious replacement and significant waste.

Partial oil change

As mentioned above, you will need about 4 liters of new ATF (it is recommended to take a little more, with a margin). In addition to oil, you will need:

  • set of tools;
  • metal brush;
  • cleaning rags;
  • gloves;
  • container for draining "working off" from the gearbox.

The automatic transmission oil change is carried out in several stages:

  • If there is, it must first be removed.
  • Place the previously prepared container under the hole, and unscrew the plug:

  • Old liquid starts to flow:

  • Then the plug is screwed back in. Before that, you can put a new washer on it:

  • After that, new oil is poured through the dipstick hole, the standard replacement volume is 3.5 liters. After that, check the level with a dipstick and top up / drain off the excess, if necessary.

For filling, you can use a special device, for example, a syringe:

The car starts up, a test drive is made, a control measurement is made and drain / refill, if necessary.

Interesting: in this way, you can carry out a complete replacement, repeating the procedure two or three times, at weekly intervals.

In order for the automatic transmission (automatic transmission) to Honda car CR-V worked more stable - it is necessary to regularly carry out its maintenance and periodically replace consumables, which include oil change.

Changing the oil in the Honda CR-V automatic transmission allows you to:

  • Increase the service life of the box - automatic
  • Protect it from overheating
  • Neutralize wear debris from parts constantly rubbing against each other.

When to carry out a full and partial oil change in an automatic gearbox Honda CR V

Partial oil change in automatic transmissions is carried out during regular and periodic service inspections, as well as in case of poor gear shifting. It is done very simply, but more on that later.

  • When buying a used car, when it is difficult to determine the quality of the fluid
  • With a car mileage of more than 90 thousand kilometers
  • If a permanent overheating of the transmission is detected
  • Breakdowns and malfunctions in which a complete oil change is required

This manipulation requires special equipment in the form of a flushing unit, therefore, in most cases, work is carried out in service centers.

Required consumables and tools

To change the oil in the Honda CR-V automatic transmission, we need:

  • Transmission ATF oil DW-1 Honda
  • 4-sided wrench for unscrewing the drain plug by 10
  • Its external filter No. 25430-PLR-003
  • Washer No. 90471-PX-000

Step-by-step instructions for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda CR V

Well, let's get down to the oil change procedure for the Honda CR-V automatic transmission:

  1. After we have turned off the engine, we take out the dipstick, clean it and measure the oil level within 60 - 90 seconds. The level should be in the range of marks
  2. We unscrew the drain plug and drain the old oil.
  3. We remove the battery, air filter, and unscrew the external filter, in my case it is held on by clamps. We replace it with a new one.
  4. Fill in new oil through the dipstick. By the way, do not forget to screw the drain bolt back.
  5. We run the box within 10 km, in all gears.

Well, that's basically all, I think my manual about a partial oil change in an automatic transmission of a car. Honda CR-V will help you save more than one thousand rubles on maintenance of your car.

The car owner can change the transmission oil for the Honda CR-V 2 on his own, without the help of specialists. However, without a specialized tool and disassembling the gearbox, drain lubricating fluid completely fail. Therefore, the car owner can only make a partial replacement with his own hands.

Which oil is better to choose in an automatic transmission for a Honda SRV 2?

When changing the oil in an automatic transmission on a Honda SRV 2, the main focus is on choosing a new lubricant. They buy it in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer to maintenance car.

It is not recommended to fill in other analogs in the automatic transmission of Honda SRV 2. This is due to the high thermal loads on the transmission, due to which the oil boils. As a result, the gearbox fails after 30-50 thousand kilometers.

When do you need to change the automatic transmission oil on a Honda CR-V 2?

A separate aspect is the frequency of oil change in automatic transmissions in Honda CR-V 2. There are several common indicators, which are paid attention to when solving this issue:

  • indicators from the manufacturer - according to them, the lubricant in the transmission needs to be changed every 50 thousand km;
  • Russian operating conditions of the car - taking them into account, the service life of the lubricating fluid is reduced to 20-40 thousand km;
  • individual conditions of use - depending on these factors, the overall indicator may also be reduced.

K n personal factors that reduce the service life of the lubricated grease, include:

  • driving speed and aggressive driving;
  • the frequency and duration of city trips;
  • frequent stops, turns;
  • road surfacing, sliding, slipping, holes;
  • additional loads, lifts, towing trailers;
  • climatic conditions, annual temperature fluctuations.

Taking these aspects into account, it is recommended to identify the gearbox oil change intervals on an individual basis. To do this, attention is paid to preventive checks, during which the volume of the lubricant is measured and its appearance is assessed.

Signs of the need to replace the transmission oil include a change in its color and density, the appearance of a burning smell, impurities, sediment. These factors indicate a loss of lubricating properties, which can soon lead to malfunctions in the operation of the automatic transmission.

Some car owners also refer to interruptions in the operation of the gearbox as signs of an expired lubricant service life. Inconsistent switching extraneous sounds, shocks and vibrations - all this indicates not only the need to change the oil, but also the relevance of diagnostics of the transmission system by specialists.

It is not recommended to wait for breakdowns in the gearbox - this unit is considered one of the most difficult in a car and its repair will be quite expensive. At the first suspicion of poor-quality operation of the oil, its preventive replacement is performed. In this case, even partial draining and refilling will avoid costly repairs in the future.

Replacement process

Do-it-yourself oil change in automatic transmission Honda SRV 2 begins with the process preparation... During it they prepare necessary tools, buy consumables, choose a place to work.

The specificity of the assembly of the Honda CR-V 2 does not allow you to remove the pallet, also when self-replacement oils do not change the filter. This is due to the need to disassemble the gearbox, which should not be done in the absence of skills and knowledge.

On preparatory stage check the system for faulty connections, purchase replacement parts for them. Usually, during the prevention, together with the oil, they must change the drain plug washer, if the bolt is damaged, they also change it.

To work with changing the lubricant and components, you will need a flat space with convenient access to the main components of the system. The possibility of using a flyover, a repair pit or a lift is emphasized. If they are absent, a jack with supports will do.

In the process of work, attention is paid to compliance safety precautions... The car must be secured safely for the owner. Some as an additional precaution remove the minus from battery.

Also pay attention to the high temperature of the drained grease and its toxicity. In the process of work, they use rubber gloves, to collect liquid, an unnecessary container is prepared, preventing the mining from getting into the soil.

List of instruments for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Honda CRV 2 includes the following accessories:

  • a set of keys and screwdrivers, gates with socket heads;
  • clothes that you do not mind getting dirty, lint-free rags, rubber gloves;
  • capacity from 4 liters for collecting mining;
  • new oil, a washer for the drain plug, if necessary, and other components to replace worn parts.

Given the impossibility of carrying out a complete oil change on your own, the procedure is carried out at a partial level. To increase the efficiency of the process, the general procedure is repeated - this increases the oil consumption, however, it makes it possible to better clean the system of waste liquid residues.

Draining old oil from the tank

Draining the oil from the automatic transmission on the Honda SRV 2 is carried out according to the following procedure:

  • warm up the engine by circulating the lubricant;
  • uncork the filler neck in the engine compartment;
  • find a drain plug from below, substitute a container under it;
  • uncork the drain, allow the liquid to drain into the prepared container.

It is usually drained up to 3.5 liters, the amount is determined using a measuring canister. According to the obtained value, the volume of oil for filling is further measured. If time permits, allow the mining to cool down for a more accurate value.

Pallet rinsing and swarf removal

In the Honda CR-V 2, the pan is not removable, which to some extent complicates the process of draining and flushing. Given this factor, the emphasis is on cleaning the entire system.

The flushing procedure involves refilling the oil at various intervals. Some do it immediately after warming up the engine, others after several hundred kilometers.

This cleaning of the transmission involves the following steps:

  • drain the old lubricant, fill in a new one in its place;
  • let the car run, it is better to drive for a while;
  • drain new grease as used, refill with fresh one.

The process can be repeated several times until the drained liquid remains sufficiently clean. This method increases the required amount of purchased oil up to 15 liters.

Flushing removes waste grease residues and sediment from the system. Taking into account the cost complete replacement for specialists, this option, even with additional costs for oil, is cheaper for the driver.

Filling in new oil

Filling the automatic transmission of Honda SRV 2 with oil does not involve complex actions. After draining and flushing, clean the drain hole and plug, change the washer, and, if necessary, the bolt itself. The system is plugged, the tightness of the connection is checked.

New fluid is poured into the filler neck, through which the level of transmission lubricant is checked. If the volume was measured on a non-cooled working out, it is recommended not to add a little.

Then the engine is warmed up for several minutes with all gears shifted. After warming up, measure the oil level, top up or pump out if necessary. In a heated and cooled state, the amount of grease should not go beyond the permissible limits indicated on the dipstick.

"Honda CR-V" - compact crossover, characterized by comfort, good handling and excellent off-road qualities... Currently, Honda has launched the fifth generation of the model. The car is delivered to Russia with 2.0 and 2.4 liters. gasoline engines and types of transmission, automatic transmission, manual transmission, variator. "Honda CR-V", having increased ground clearance, perfectly adapted to the conditions of the Russian winter and off-road.

As part of maintenance, it is necessary to change the oil in the Honda CR-V automatic transmission.

Motorists, choosing between manual, automatic and continuously variable transmissions, often opt for an automatic transmission that provides maximum driving comfort. Timely maintenance is essential for the transmission to function flawlessly. "Honda SR-V" 3 and other generations of the model are an important component of maintenance, allowing to extend the life of the device.

When an oil change is required

Periodicity replace ATF, declared by the manufacturer, is 30 - 35 thousand km. mileage for the automatic gearbox and up to 60,000 km. for mechanics. But this rule is valid under moderate operating conditions. The need for more frequent transmission maintenance is influenced by a number of external factors. The oil change in the box of the "Honda CR-V" automatic machine, operated in our area, should occur more often one and a half to two times the specified time, that is, after 15 - 20 thousand km. mileage. And when buying a car for secondary market recommended immediately.

Should I rinse the box

After a certain period of time, the oil loses its lubricating properties and ceases to cool the automatic transmission parts, provoking a quick wear of the device, then its replacement is required. It is not recommended to completely flush the box with the Honda SR-B machine. In addition, not all vehicle variants include a pallet removal. As a result of flushing, even more clogging of the box is possible and oil filter, as the accumulated dirt will begin to settle. Pumping oil under pressure with a large amount of fluid will not bring much benefit, so it is better not to risk using this method. But the need for timely verification remains. The procedure can be carried out both in the service and on your own.

Depending on the type of automatic transmission filter installed, manipulations with hardware flushing may be strictly not allowed. Full is possible on a car with an existing automatic transmission mesh filter. For the felt filter element of the box, the procedure is extremely undesirable. Car owners of some cars, for example, the 2004 Honda SR-B, often face the problem of finding a measuring device when changing the oil in an automatic transmission. If the probe is not in its usual place, it will most likely be under the battery. Carefully fumbling around the battery, you will find a small loop of the probe.

What kind of oil to fill

The automatic transmission "Honda" has some structural differences from the devices of other companies, for this reason the manufacturer recommends to fill only the original product intended for the automatic transmission "Honda SR-V":

  • ATF-Z1 - transmission oil used for standard automatic transmission "Honda" on cars from 1995 to 2011;
  • ATF-DW1 is a new grease with an improved formula that completely replaces ATF-Z1 and is used on machines manufactured before and after 2011.

When using other oils, experts predict an imminent failure of the box, therefore, in order to avoid the need for expensive repairs or replacement of automatic transmissions, it is better to use the recommendation of professionals. The oil change process is similar for all model variations, the only difference is how much oil you have to fill in the automatic transmission. So, for the car "Honda SR-B 1" you will need 3.5 liters, and for the "SR-B 3" - 4 liters lubricant ATF Z1 or ATF-DW1.

Replacement tools

Before "Honda SR-B", you need to prepare all the necessary tools and materials. Everything you need to replace ATP:

  • 4 p. original transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer. You can use ATF Z1 or ATF-DW1;
  • sealing ring for automatic transmission plug 90471-PX4-000;
  • flow-through filter element 25430-PLR-003;
  • keys;
  • gloves, rags;
  • container for draining the used transmission fluid.

Partial oil change

Change transmission fluid in the automatic transmission is easy. ATF is drained through the drain plug and poured into the dipstick hole. In this case, it is important to monitor the level so as not to overflow. Before checking the oil level after stopping the engine, wait about 5 minutes to avoid burns, because the operating fluid temperature is quite high.

The replacement procedure is performed as follows:

Some masters believe that it is necessary to top up the oil to the maximum mark, while others believe that it is up to the middle. In both cases, the automatic transmission will function normally, the main thing is not to overflow above the maximum.

Complete oil change

This procedure is carried out using a special apparatus into which oil is poured. The device, through the connection to the hoses of the cooling circuit, fills in a new fluid that replaces the old oil. Do-it-yourself change is also possible, while we go through all the stages of a regular replacement until the moment when we put the drain plug back in place and filled in a new liquid. Don't start the engine yet.

  1. Next, we remove the hose coming from the bottom of the radiator, lower its end into a transparent container of a small volume (about 1.5 liters).
  2. We start the car for a few minutes to pump up a liter of oil.
  3. Add the same volume of new ATF to the filler hole as it was drained.
  4. We repeat these manipulations until a clear liquid flows out.
  5. We return the cooling circuit hose to its place, top up the required amount of ATF, if necessary, adjust the level.

Complete oil change of automatic transmission "Honda SR-B" will require about 10 - 12 liters of ATF. Honda does not recommend this procedure. It is better to regularly renew the lubricant in the usual way after 15 - 20 km. mileage. If you want to achieve the maximum effect of the renewal, you will need to carry out 2 - 3 standard partial replacement procedures at intervals of about 100 km.
