The VAZ "seven" is the last classic model of the Zhiguli, produced from 1982 to 2012. Moreover, the injector and electronic ignition appeared on the VAZ 2107 car already in the 90s, and all previous modifications came with a carburetor and a mechanical (contact) sparking system. Since a lot of such cars "run" on the territory of the countries of the former USSR, the issue of switching to contactless ignition (abbreviated as BSZ) does not lose its relevance for their owners. It is solved without any problems, you just need to buy a set of new equipment and put it on the G7 with your own hands, so as not to spend money on car service services.

Electronic ignition design

To put a contactless system on the "classic" VAZ 2107 with a carburetor, it is advisable to study how it works. This will help you build the circuit correctly and get it up and running successfully. BSZ for old carburetor models of Zhiguli consists of the following elements:

  • distributor, it is also the distributor of the ignition system;
  • high-voltage coil of a new design (different from the old one, working with mechanical contacts);
  • a switch responsible for managing the system;
  • high-voltage and ordinary wires with connectors and terminals connecting the listed elements;
  • spark plug.

Reference. Since in new system Since there is no contact group, and its operation is controlled by an electronic unit, the names "contactless" and "electronic" are equally suitable for it.

The new high voltage coil has 2 windings. The primary is made of a large cross-section conductor and is connected to the car's electrical network through the ignition switch relay. The secondary winding is wound with a large number of turns of thin wire and connected with a high-voltage wire to a distributor, consisting of the following parts:

  • a housing with a centrally mounted shaft;
  • a movable contact is fixed at the end of the shaft (the so-called slider);
  • a cover is put on the top of the body, where high-voltage wires of large cross-section are connected to the spark plugs;
  • there is a protrusion (cam) on the shaft, opposite which the Hall sensor stands;
  • a vacuum diaphragm is attached to the side, providing ignition advance.

The switch is connected by conductors of small cross-section with a distributor and a coil, its task is to control the timely supply of a spark to the candles.

Reference. In newer versions of the VAZ 2107, where an injector is installed instead of a carburetor, there is no separate switch. There is no need for it, since the on-board computer controller controls the sparking and fuel supply.

The principle of operation of BSZ

Sparking with electronic control operates according to a fairly simple algorithm, which determines the reliability of such a scheme. When the driver turns the key in the ignition lock, a constant voltage from on-board network, which is why a magnetic field is formed around it. Then the system works like this:

  1. The starter turns the crankshaft and drives the distributor shaft together with the slider.
  2. The Hall sensor, which reacts to the passage of a nearby metal mass, registers the rotation of the shaft along the protrusion on it and sends a signal to the commutator.
  3. The electronic unit, on a signal from the sensor, cuts off the voltage supply to the primary winding of the coil.
  4. At the moment of breaking the circuit, a high voltage pulse (up to 24 kV) is generated in the secondary winding of the coil. It is directed along a thick wire to the moving contact of the distributor.
  5. The slider redirects the impulse to one of the fixed contacts built into the cover. From there, the voltage goes to the spark plug of the cylinder where the piston is at top dead center.
  6. At this point, the fuel is already compressed in the combustion chamber. When a spark jumps on the electrodes of the candle, it ignites.
  7. The slider rotates and transmits a spark to all cylinders according to the 1-3-4-2 scheme, after which the engine of the machine starts up and starts working.

Note. In old VAZ 2107 cars, there was no switch, and the electrical circuit was broken mechanically - the shaft cam opened the contact group.

Pros and cons of contactless ignition

At the moment, an electronically controlled sparking system is equipped with 100% of manufactured cars that use gasoline or liquefied gas as fuel. Mechanical ignition is obsolete and a thing of the past. The reason is its unreliability during operation, frequent malfunctions and low spark power. Compared to the contact system, BSZ has the following advantages:

  1. The lack of contacts, whose surfaces are constantly burning from high voltage, which is why the sparking power drops sharply.
  2. There are no wearing parts in the distributor of the electronic system, which had to be changed every 15-20 thousand kilometers.
  3. Thanks to the contactless circuit and the new design of the coil, the voltage supplied to the electrodes of the candles was raised from 18 to 24 kV. This has a beneficial effect on the ignition and combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders.
  4. Operational reliability and durability.

Reference. In the past, the owners of the VAZ "classics" quite often had to remove the protrusion burning on the surface of one of the contacts, which required a flat file. But on the second contact, a depression formed, which is quite difficult to clean, so manufacturers began to make contact groups with through holes.

Of the significant disadvantages of BSZ, one can be noted - the non-repairability of the Hall sensor. If the mechanical contacts are cleaned up, then the faulty sensor only needs to be changed, so it is advisable to carry it with you. On the other hand, this device is very reliable in operation and serves 40-50 thousand km without problems.

Reference. Owners of VAZ 2107 cars equipped with the first sets of BSZ, in addition to the Hall sensor, also had to carry a spare switch. But after 2 years, its design has undergone modernization, which is why the electronic components have ceased to fail.

Installation instructions for contactless system

The procedure for replacing a mechanical ignition with an electronic one is divided into the following stages:

  • selection and purchase of BSZ;
  • preparation of tools;
  • removing the old system and installing a new one;
  • ignition setting.

If earlier you did not have to independently deal with the problems of sparking in classic Zhiguli models, then you will have to allocate about 3-4 hours for all the work.

The commercially available BSZ factory kit for VAZ 2107 includes the following parts:

  • switch with catalog number 36.3734 (also 3620.3734);
  • main ignition distributor, marking - 38.37061;
  • high-voltage coil, catalog number - 27.3705;
  • harnesses with connectors.

Note. The distributor marking is indicated for cars with engines of 1.5 and 1.6 liters. In modifications of "sevens" with a 1.3 liter engine, the cylinder block is smaller in height, and the ignition distributor shaft is shorter. His catalog number - 38.3706–01.

On sale there is a similar contactless kit designed for the Russian off-road vehicle VAZ 2121 "Niva". In it, the distributor is marked as follows: 3810.3706 or 38.3706-10. You shouldn't buy it for the "classic", because the element differs in technical parameters, although it looks the same on the outside.

Among manufacturers producing ready-made kits electronic ignition for old VAZ models, the best company has recommended itself "SOATE", whose production is located in the city of Stary Oskol, Russian Federation. Reviews of the owners of the "classics" about the company's products are purely positive.

Advice. When planning to put BSZ on the "seven", in parallel, replace the spark plugs (brand - A17DVR) and high-voltage wires to them. They are not included in the scope of delivery, but they will be very useful for stable and economical operation of the engine with the new sparking system.

What tools do you need?

To install the electronic unit and other elements of the gas station, you will need a simple toolkit available in the garage of any skilled motorist:

  • flat and Phillips screwdrivers;
  • open-end keys in sizes 8, 10 and 13 mm;
  • conventional pliers;
  • a candle wrench equipped for convenience with a cardan;
  • manual or electric drill with a drill with a diameter of 3-3.5 mm.

Note. With the help of the keys, the terminals, the fastening of the distributor and the coil are unscrewed. You will need a drill to make 2 holes for mounting the switch. In some cars, you can find ready-made holes designed for mounting electronics, they are located on the left side member (in the direction of the car's movement).

It's good if you manage to find and borrow a special key designed for turning crankshaft VAZ 2107, gripping the ratchet nut. Another option is to rotate the crankshaft with an ordinary 30 mm open-end wrench or by turning the rear wheel with included 4th gear.

Carry out installation and configuration work contactless ignition it is possible in any convenient place, as long as the weather conditions allow. Since you do not need a viewing hole, a flat and well-lit platform will do.

Installation of BSZ on a car

Before installing the electronic ignition, you need to remove the old system from the car, proceeding in this order:

  1. Lift the bonnet of the "seven", disconnect the battery from the on-board network and remove the high voltage wires from the spark plugs.
  2. Remove the plugs and turn the crankshaft to bring the piston of the 1st cylinder to the top dead center (TDC). A long screwdriver inserted into a candle well will help you with this. Make sure that the notch on the crankshaft pulley is against the first mark on the cylinder block (it is the longest of the three).
  3. Unlock the metal catches of the ignition distributor cover and remove it along with the wires. To be sure, put a mark on the engine valve cover opposite the moving contact of the slider.
  4. Disconnect all wires from the distributor and the thin tube that connects it to the carburetor fitting. Loosen the nut that presses the distributor skirt to the cylinder block and unscrew it. Remove the old distributor, making sure that the gasket is not lost (it stands between it and the block).
  5. Disconnect the wires from the contacts of the high voltage coil and remember where they were connected. Unscrew the coil bracket and remove it from the body.

Start the BSZ installation by installing the electronic unit equipped with an aluminum mounting plate with holes (it serves as a cooling element for the device). If there are ready-made holes on the left side member, screw the switch to them with two self-tapping screws. Otherwise, find a free space near the coil, drill holes and secure the control box.

Advice. Do not place the switch under a flush fluid reservoir windshield... If it leaks, it will flood the delicate electronics and the ignition will stop functioning.

Install the elements of the contactless system in the following sequence:

  1. Take a new distributor, remove the cover from it and put on the gasket. Install it in the socket on the cylinder block so that the movable contact is against the chalk mark painted on the engine valve cover. Press down the distributor skirt slightly with the retaining nut so that it does not accidentally turn.
  2. Screw the high voltage coil back to the old place (fixings match). Connect the wires from the ignition switch relay, tachometer and switch to its terminals. The core coming from the contact "1" of the electronic unit is connected to the terminal marked "K" of the coil, and the wire from the contact "4" is connected to the terminal "B".
  3. Having established a gap of 0.8-0.9 mm between the electrodes of the spark plugs, screw them into the cylinder bores. Put the cover on the distributor and connect all high voltage wires, including the central one leading to the coil. Connect the vacuum tube, after which you can start starting the motor and adjusting the timely sparking.

Advice. When installing the high-voltage coil, the terminals are swapped, which causes some inconvenience. The issue is solved by loosening the nut of the fastening clamp and turning the coil body 180 °, after which it can be put in place.

High-voltage wires must be connected, guided by the numbers on the cover The switch is attached to the spar with 2 self-tapping screws

Ignition Setting Instructions

If you strictly followed the instructions set out, connected all the wires according to the diagram and did not knock down the aligned marks, then the motor will start without problems. To adjust the ignition, you need to achieve stable engine operation, so first warm it up for a few minutes without letting it stall by pressing the gas pedal.

Advice. If the start of the engine fails, and even pops do not appear when the starter is turned on, then you probably messed up with the wiring. Recheck everything according to the diagram supplied with the factory set of electronic ignition parts.

There are two methods of adjustment on a warm engine:

  • without the use of special devices - "by ear";
  • fine tuning with a stroboscope.

A stroboscope is a device with a light that flashes simultaneously with the transmission of an impulse from the Hall sensor. When the switched on stroboscope is brought to the crankshaft flywheel with the engine running, the position of the notch becomes visible. Hence the possibility of fine adjustment.

Connect the strobe power to the battery, and a thick vein - to the high-voltage wire of the spark plug of the 1st cylinder. Loosen the distributor retaining nut and bring the flashing lamp to the pulley. Slowly turn the distributor housing until the notch on the pulley takes place opposite the short mark, then tighten the nut.

Tuning in the folk way "by ear" is performed as follows:

  1. Start the engine and loosen the nut holding the ignition distributor.
  2. Smoothly and slowly rotate the distributor within 15 °. Find the position where the motor runs most steadily.
  3. Tighten the retaining nut.

Advice. When you start turning the ignition distributor by hand, try not to touch the high voltage wires so that you do not get an electric shock. The best option- take hold of the body of the membrane mechanism, where the tube from the carburetor is connected.

It is quite natural that after installing the contactless ignition system idle speed engine will grow to 1100-1200 rpm due to increased power sparks. Set the rate to 850-900 rpm by tightening the screw idle move on the carburetor and guided by the tachometer. On VAZ 2105-2107 carburetors of the "Ozone" type, this screw is located in the lower section of the unit on the right side and differs large size... In VAZ 2108 carburetors of the Solex type (these were also put on the "seven") there is a long plastic handle protruding to the right (in the direction of travel). The second screw, which regulates the air-fuel mixture, must not be turned.

Advice. If, during a sharp press on the accelerator, a loud knock is heard from the engine, then you have set the ignition timing too large and the mixture flares up earlier than necessary. Loosen the distributor nut and turn the body a couple of degrees clockwise.

Video about ignition adjustment on the "classic" Zhiguli

The best indicator of a successful installation and setup of a contactless ignition system is checking the VAZ 2107 on the go. It is worth driving a car for several kilometers to check under various modes - acceleration, straight-ahead and coasting with the gear engaged. You will surely like the behavior of the machine, and the hateful cleaning of contacts will be forgotten forever.

Contact ignition system in modern cars practically not used and gave way to contactless and electronic systems. Nevertheless, our car owners have a lot of old cars (in our case, this is the VAZ-2106), for which we would like to improve the performance of their engines. As a rule, two options are selected for this: installation of an injection power unit or a modern ignition system.

What is contactless and electronic ignition

It is necessary to immediately distinguish between the concepts of "electronic" and "contactless" ignition, since these are fundamentally different systems. Electronic ignition has a crankshaft position sensor and is controlled with its help through an ECU (electronic engine control unit). For contactless ignition to work, such difficulties are not needed.
How does it work? In the non-contact type ignition distributor, instead of open contacts, an induction coil is installed, which gives a high voltage current, which is then supplied to the candles. And then, as usual, the fuel in the cylinders ignites.

The advantages of using the system on a VAZ 2106

  • Lack of breakable contacts that often burn out.
  • No additional adjustments required.
  • The wear of the spark plugs is significantly reduced.
  • Fast "cold" engine start in winter.
  • Smoother motor operation.
  • There is no need to clean and change contacts.

Contact ignition is no longer available on modern cars. There are many reasons for this, including due to the large number of mechanical systems in the composition of such an ignition. What should owners of old cars do? Sometimes they ask themselves the question, is it possible to convert the contact distributor to a contactless one?

Advantages of BSZ (contactless system)

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

So, on the old-style distributor, due to the presence of a huge number of mechanical components, backlashes and gaps appear over time. The energy of the spark is not provided as needed, and the quality of the contacts themselves is highly questioned.

The installation of a contactless ignition system or BSZ can solve all the previous difficulties, since one hall sensor can replace a group of various mechanical elements at once. Progress is a good thing, you can't argue with that.

Hall Sensor

Since we are talking about the hall sensor, then we will consider those moments due to which it is considered significantly better mechanics, and is even capable of replacing several of them.

Note. It is interesting that up to a certain point this sensor could not be considered as an analogue of the mechanical component of the distributor.

However, over time, in the course of technological progress and obvious shortcomings of mechanical components, such as constant pollution, lack of contacts, etc., the hall sensor began to displace old systems. And today it is even installed on scooters, playing the function of an integral part of the ignition regulator.

Essentially, a hall sensor is a thin semiconductor sheet. In the course of a pulse hitting it, a current with a weak voltage appears. Amplification of the voltage is possible only if a magnetic field passes across the semiconductor. This property of the material was adopted by physics.

The element consists of a semiconductor material (plate), a chip (microcircuit), a magnet and a metal shield with slots. It is through the last component that the magnetic field is passed, which is why energy appears. The metal shield, of course, does not allow the magnetic field to pass through, but when the slots are opened, a low voltage pulse is generated.

An interesting point. When this device is combined with a distributor, a single unit is obtained called a distributor, which performs with great efficiency the standard functions of an ignition distributor.

Other benefits

The commissioning of BSZ has become one of the major innovations in the automotive industry. This innovation allowed not only to increase the power power plant, but also to reduce fuel consumption several times. In addition, thanks to the new system, it was possible to reduce the amount of harmful substances emitted into the atmosphere.

KSZ or the contact system did not meet the expectations of the designers, because it was not possible to increase the energy quantity in the spark, and even in the process of switching to more powerful engines, such a distributor no longer justified itself.

In a word, high-precision ignition control with KSZ is impossible, the engine constantly experiences interruptions in operation, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions increase.

Obviously, many experts consider the supply of relatively more energy to the candles to be almost the main advantage of the BSZ. Due to this, the spark, which is so necessary for the complete combustion of gasoline, increases. And this, in turn, leads to an improvement in the vehicle's maneuverability on the road.

BSZ distributor is both a general improvement, as well as pulse stability. On all ranges of operation of the internal combustion engine, recoil is significantly improved. The hall sensor in this case plays a much larger role, completely replacing the archaic contact system.

Finally, another indisputable advantage of BSZ is its simplicity and low maintenance requirement. Such a distributor will require adjustment only once, and not like KSZ - constantly.

Alteration of the KSZ in the BSZ will not take more than 1 hour, if you follow the correct instructions for carrying out. This applies, of course, to a person who is versed in an auto electrician and who knows what difficulties he can expect along the way.

Any operation, whether it is repair or modernization, begins with the preparation of the workplace.

  1. Decide where to install the switch. Many put it on the left mudguard, where it is fixed with two self-tapping screws to the body. However, you should be careful and make sure that the contact of the radiator of the device with the metal part of the car frame is as much as possible. Thus, better heat dissipation is ensured.
  2. Install the ignition tag on the 4th cylinder.
  3. Purchase a new set of SZ that would fit the BSZ. The gap in such candles should be set to 0.8 mm.
  4. Purchase and replace a coil.

It remains to change the distributor to an electronic one, install a hall sensor.

Arm yourself, of course, with the necessary tools:

  • A set of different keys.
  • A set of screwdrivers.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Drill with a set of different drills.

So, here's how the distributor changes:

  • The cover is removed to provide access to the rotor.
  • Set the slider rotor to a position that can be easily repeated when installing a new BSZ distributor. Mark on ICE.
  • Unscrew the distributor retainer completely and remove the device.
  • Take out the main armor wire, integrating the coil and distributor.
  • Set the slider of the new distributor in accordance with the old one.
  • Place the body according to the marks set in advance and marked on the body of the internal combustion engine.
  • Insert a new cover, connect the wires.

The coil is also being updated:

  • With an eight-key, we unscrew the nut-wiring contacts.
  • The ten-key loosens the fixation of the coil itself.
  • Install a new coil.

Attention. When installing a new coil, be sure to focus on the location of the contacts. It is better to put everything as it was done on the old scheme.

  • The new device is fixed.
  • The wires are connected to the contacts.

Advice. It is better not to remove the wires from the old coil for now, but to do this after installing a new one. This way, it will be possible to rethrow the wiring without making mistakes.

  • The main armored wire is threaded, connecting the distributor to the coil.

One of essential elements BSZ is a switch. As it was written above, its location is chosen in advance. It is put as follows:

  • The switch is leaned against the body to mark drilling locations.
  • The device is screwed on with self-tapping screws.

Attention. Under one of the self-tapping screws, a black ground cable is inserted from the connection block.

In fact, in some cases, the secret of the alteration comes down to replacing the distributor stem. On the old one it is shorter. If you manage to rearrange this very rod from some distributor of a new design, then as a result you can save a lot on buying a new distributor.

As for setting up the BSZ distributor, it is carried out only once. UOZ can be set without any devices. This is done on an internal combustion engine heated to 85 degrees, while driving at medium speed. The gearbox switches to 4th speed, the accelerator pedal is pressed into the floor. If a short-term detonation occurs, after which the motor picks up speed again, then the BSZ is set correctly. On the contrary, if a knocking occurs during this, you must stop. The ignition is set incorrectly. And here's what to do:

  • Rotate and distribute clockwise 1 degree.
  • Repeat driving with a sharp change of speed.

A similar operation is repeated until the correct ignition is set.

That's all there is to it. Good luck on the road with the new distributor!

The voltage sensor consists of a rotor and a stator. Fasten the octane corrector plate to the distributor sensor body with a bolt. 6. Establish a cover of the sensor-distributor, check the correctness of installation of the ignition wires to the spark plugs in accordance with the order of operation of the engine cylinders 1-2-4-3, counting counterclockwise. After each installation of the ignition, check the accuracy of the ignition timing by listening to the engine while the vehicle is moving.

Ignition system for UAZ 469

This mode is used if you start the engine with a starter. Ignitions for UAZ have a simple design. Contactless ignition is more convenient to use than contact ignition.

With anti-theft locking device, with blocking against restarting the starter without first switching off the ignition and with socket illumination. The locking device against restarting the starter must not allow the key to be turned again from position I (ignition) to position II (starter).

The operation of a car engine is impossible without a correctly set ignition timing. Rotate the distributor body until the middle mark on its body aligns with the mark on the engine. For example, for a VAZ-2106 car, the switch can be installed in an empty space between the washer reservoir and the left headlight. Drill 2 holes and screw on the switch with self-tapping screws. Correct installation the ignition timing in a contactless ignition system makes it possible to operate the car in a comfortable environment. Set the crankshaft to a position that corresponds to an ignition timing of 5 degrees. Check the connection order high-voltage wires engine cylinders.

UAZ underwater ignition circuit

Or you can go further, throw out the standard harness, the EPHH system and install a switch in place of the variator under the hood. The output of the additional resistance "to the starter relay" in some wiring options is connected to additional contacts on the ignition switch, and not to the starter relay. Coil - for contact ignition system! An interesting addition to the ignition system with an ATE-2 distributor and a Hall sensor will be the switch 962.3734 complete with a knock sensor (automatic octane corrector). The knock sensor is connected to the 7th leg of the commutator, which is not normally used. The bottom line is that the eight-distributor on the eight-motor is "from the ass" of the engine and is driven from the camshaft.

A pair of Hall sensors located at 90 degrees is placed in the distributor. relative to each other. A "butterfly" plate is put on the axle; when moving in the Hall sensors, it alternately generates impulses. Any trambler will fit, the main thing is that it is suitable for the type of drive and is serviceable.

Recommendations for setting up a distributor Is it possible to put a distributor from the Volga on UAZ. Experience in operating a distributor with a Hall sensor (article) How to isolate a distributor from water? Conversion of contactless ignition to contact I easily converted all electronic ignition to 31519 with a 3 liter engine. The standard electronic ignition distributor is replaced with a mechanical R 119-B; 2. The standard ignition coil is replaced with B-117 A; 3. The standard switch and variator are simply removed; 4. If there is a contact ignition system, then the bearing in the ignition distributor may be worn out or the gap between the contacts may be incorrectly set. You expose the distributor slider to the first cylinder with a curved starter, and the middle mark on the KV pulley (ZMZ 402) or the first along the pulley (UMZ engines) opposite the shaft. Designed for installation on GAZelle and Volga vehicles with carburetor engine ZMZ-4026.10 instead standard system ignition.

STEP 4: Connect the wiring and install the switch. We insert the wires into the distributor.

A guide to replacing a distributor with an oil pump drive

Turn off the ignition and dismantle the distributor cover, lugs and high-voltage cables are connected to it. Then from the distribution mechanism it is necessary to disconnect the wire connected to the switch. Taking a 13 wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the device and dismantle the mechanism from the power unit together with the oil pump drive.

What is the wiring diagram for electronic or contactless ignition, on the UAZ 417, how to convert contact ignition to contactless? Why is the coil heating and how to adjust and adjust the lead angle? Also, contactless systems are equipped with an electromagnetic device, which makes it possible to achieve more stable engine operation. One of the main nuances in terms of maintenance is the need for periodic lubrication of the distributor drive - at least every 10 thousand kilometers. After that, the cover should be removed from the distribution mechanism.

In order for the distributor to fit into the drive, it is necessary to achieve the coincidence of the protrusions on the coupling on the bottom of the distributor with the slots on the drive shaft. On the installed distributor, there should be no gap between the octane-corrector plate and the drive housing itself. Remove the cover of the new distributor. To do this, unscrew 2 screws with a Phillips screwdriver. The runner must look at the engine shield. The fact is that the numbering of the 1st cylinder of the ATE-2 distributor does not coincide with the numbering of the standard distributor. It is put on a regular place without alterations. STEP 4. Wiring connection and switch installation Nothing complicated. If a kit from a VAZ-21074 is used, then there will be only 3 contacts without pads.

The main components of a contact-type system are a battery, a short circuit, a drive, candles, a capacitor, and a breaker with a distributor. A contactless ignition system, which is called transistor. Unlike the two systems described above, the electronic ignition system is characterized by a complex device that ensures the operability of not only the torque, but also other parameters.

8000 km Tighten the distributor nuts and wire contacts. Lubrication of the rotor hub. 2. Remove the plastic cover from the springboard and make sure that the slider electrode is aligned with the notch on the cover.

Any car is possible due to the ignition of a combustible mixture in the cylinders of the power unit. To ensure the normal performance of the motor, the correct setting (SZ) is necessary. In addition, all elements, including the coil, the distributor of the UAZ car and other components must always be in working order.

Description of SZ for UAZ

How is the installation, setup and adjustment of the ignition circuit carried out on the AUZ 417 or any other? We will discuss this below. But first, let's understand the principle of the node, as well as the varieties of SZ.

The principle of operation of the SZ

SZ scheme and designation of its elements for old UAZ engines

As already mentioned, the ignition on the UAZ performs one of the main functions when starting the power unit. Thanks to this system, the procedure for igniting the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders of the power unit is carried out by supplying a spark. The spark is directly supplied to, one candle is installed on each of the cylinders. All these SZ operate in a sequence mode, igniting the combustible mixture in the required period of time. It should also be borne in mind that the ignition system on cars not only provides a spark, but also determines its strength.

The vehicle's battery is not able to generate the voltage and current required to ignite the mixture, since this device only produces a current of a certain strength. The ignition system has to help, the purpose of which is to increase the power indicator of the car's battery. As a result of the use of SZ, the battery allows you to transfer sufficient voltage to the candles to ignite the mixture.

Types of ignition systems

Contactless circuit SZ with a switch for UAZ

Today, there are three main types of ignition systems that can be installed on a car:

  1. Contact SZ. It is considered morally obsolete, but continues to be successfully used on vehicles domestic production. The principle of operation is that the system generates the necessary impulse, which appears due to the work of the distribution component. The contact-type device itself is simple, and this is a plus, because in the event of a breakdown, the driver will always be able to diagnose and repair on his own. The cost of replacement components is not high. The main components of a contact-type system are a battery, a short circuit, a drive, candles, a capacitor, and a breaker with a distributor.
  2. The system is called transistor. Many transports are equipped with this type. Compared to the above-described type, the system has a number of advantages. Firstly, the generated spark has a high power, which is due to the increased voltage level in the secondary winding of the ignition coil. Secondly, the contactless system is equipped with an electromagnetic device to ensure stable operation, as well as the transmission of energy to all nodes. As a result, with the correct setting of the internal combustion engine, this allows not only to increase the power of work, but also to save fuel. Thirdly, it is convenience in terms of site maintenance. To ensure performance for a long time, after setting up and installing the distributor drive, this element must be lubricated from time to time. To ensure normal operation, the element is lubricated every ten thousand kilometers. As for the shortcomings, it is the complexity of the repair. It is unrealistic to repair the device yourself; this requires special diagnostic equipment, which is only available at the service station.
  3. Another option for SZ is electronic, which today is the most technologically advanced and expensive, therefore new transports are equipped with it. Unlike the two systems described above, the electronic ignition system is characterized by a complex device that ensures the operability of not only the torque, but also other parameters. Currently, all are equipped with electronic systems modern cars... The key advantage is the simplified procedure for setting the lead angle, as well as the absence of the need to periodically check the contacts for the presence of oxidation. In practice, the air-fuel mixture in engines with electronic SZ almost always burns out in full.
    This type also has its drawbacks, in particular in the issue of repairs. It is unrealistic to make it with your own hands, since this requires equipment. detailed instructions on adjusting the ignition using a light bulb is presented in the video below.

How to set it correctly?

How, after connection, is the ignition set for the correct operation of the motor?

What is the order, how to correctly set the node setting, read below:

  1. First, the transport must be fixed in place, turn on hand brake... The piston of the first cylinder must be installed at top dead center, note that the hole on the crankshaft pulley must coincide with the mark located on the camshaft cover.
  2. WITH switchgear it is necessary to dismantle the cover. Having done this, you will see the slider opposite the input 1, inside the lid. If it is not there, then the crankshaft must be turned 180 degrees and the octane corrector set to 0. Using a wrench, screw the pointer to the distributor controller housing with a bolt so that it is aligned with the middle mark on the octane corrector. Loosen the screw fixing the plastic to the housing of the distribution controller.
  3. Rotate the housing carefully, holding the slider with your finger so that it does not rotate. This will eliminate the gaps in the drive. The body rotates until the sharp part of the petal on the stator is aligned with the red line on the rotor. Fix the plate with a screw to the controller case.
  4. The next step is to reinstall the controller cover and diagnose. They must be installed in accordance with the order of operation of the cylinders, that is, the first, second, fourth, third. When the ignition timing is set, it is necessary to diagnose the correctness while driving.
  5. Start the power unit and warm it up for about ten minutes, until the temperature is about 80 degrees. Driving on a flat and straight road at a speed of about 40 km / h, suddenly press the gas pedal. If, when accelerating to 60 km / h, you feel or hear a detonation, it should be short-lived, then everything is done correctly. If the knock is very strong, then the distribution controller must be turned half or one division counterclockwise. In the absence of detonation, the set advance angle should be increased, that is, the controller should be turned clockwise.
