The cost of a set of front pads is 1200–3200 rubles, rear - 980–1700 rubles.

Replacing the front brake pads

The inner pads are equipped with acoustic wear indicators that give you a screeching noise when braking. The pads also need to be renewed in case of oiling of the linings, when deep grooves, cracks, chips are found. If the fluid level in the brake and clutch reservoir is at the MAX mark, then before installing new pads with a syringe or rubber bulb, we pump out part of the liquid from the tank. We install the car on a factory-made stand. Remove the front wheel.

Before installation, we clean the parts of the brake mechanism from dirt and corrosion, especially the brake shoe seats in the caliper guide plates and the shoe guide. It is forbidden to use gasoline to clean the brakes and diesel fuel... If the guiding pin protective covers are torn, replace them with new ones. We assemble the brake mechanism in reverse order. After replacing the pads on both front wheels, press the brake pedal several times to set the gaps between the pads and discs.

Replacing the rear brake pads

Depending on the Solaris modification rear brakes can be disc or drum. We will look at the procedure for replacing pads on a disc version (works are shown on the left rear wheel). We install the car on a factory-made stand. Remove the rear wheel.

On a note

Brake pads need to be replaced only as a set - all four pieces on both front (or rear) wheels. Replacing the pads of only one brake mechanism can lead the vehicle to the side during sudden deceleration.

Pay attention to the markings on the brake pads. Buy new pads with the same marking. Rear pads HANKOOK FRIXA for Hyundai solaris are marked FPH26R.

For replacing disc brake pads rear wheel do the following.

Replace the rear brake pads only with a set of 4. (two on each side). Before replacing brake pads, check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.

If the level is close to the upper mark, it is necessary to pump out part of the fluid, since after replacing worn out pads with new ones, the level will rise.

2. Loosen the rear wheel nuts on the side of the replacement pads.

3. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle. Finally unscrew the fastening nuts and remove the wheel.

4. Remove the upper and lower bolts of the caliper guide pins, keeping the pins from turning with the second wrench.

5. Remove the movable caliper from the disc, without disconnecting the brake hose, and secure the caliper with a wire to the suspension elements, avoiding twisting or stretching the hose.

6. Remove the outer ...

7.… and inner brake pads.

8. Pry off with a screwdriver ...

9. ... and remove the lower and upper retaining plates from the guide shoes.

Whenever you replace the brake pads, be sure to check the condition of the rubber protective covers of the guide pins and the ease of movement of the caliper relative to the guide of the brake pads. If movement is difficult, lubricate the guide pin and its boot with grease.

10. Install a special tool on the caliper and, turning screw A, sink the piston into the slave cylinder.

11. In the absence of a device, you can press the piston in with the help of sliding pliers. Be careful not to damage the piston boot.

12. Install the retaining plates in the reverse order of removal. To prevent self-loosening of the caliper guide pin bolts, lubricate their threads before installing with an anaerobic thread lock.

13. Press the brake pedal all the way down several times to select the clearances in the brake mechanism that appeared after the pistons were pressed into the cylinders.

14. Install the wheel.

15. Replace the brake pads of the brake mechanism of the other rear wheel in the same way.

16. Check and, if necessary, restore the level of the brake fluid in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder.

After replacing worn out brake pads with new ones, do not rush to immediately leave on busy highways. It is possible that at the first intensive braking you will be unpleasantly struck by the low efficiency of the brakes, although the pads were supplied with proprietary ones. Brake discs also wear out, and new pads only touch their edges, practically not braking. Choose a quiet street or drive without cars and brake gently several times so that the pads rub in and begin to adhere to the entire surface. At the same time, evaluate the effectiveness of the brakes.

Try not to brake abruptly for at least the first 100 km. With strong heating of unworked pads, the top layer of their linings burns and the brakes will not be as effective for a long time.

Proceed as follows to replace the rear drum brake pads.

Rice. 9.7. Details of the drum brake mechanism of the rear wheel (details of the brake mechanism are shown on the left side): 1, 9 - rods of the support pads of the pads; 2 - front block of the brake mechanism; 3, 11 - spring plates; 4 - the front part of the spacer bar; 5 - upper clamping spring of the pads; 6 - worker brake cylinder; 7 - the rear part of the spacer bar; 8 - rear block of the brake mechanism; 10 - expanding lever of the parking brake drive; 12 - lower clamping spring; 13 - backlash regulator; 14 - backlash regulator lever; 15 - spring of the lever of the backlash adjuster

Replacing worn out brake pads with new ones, do not rush to immediately leave on busy highways. It is possible that at the first intensive braking you will be unpleasantly struck by the low efficiency of the brakes, despite the fact that branded pads are installed. Brake drums (and discs) also wear out, and new pads only touch them not with the entire plane, practically not braking. Choose a quiet street or drive without cars and brake gently several times so that the pads rub in and begin to adhere to the entire surface. At the same time, evaluate the effectiveness of the brakes.

You will need: Phillips and flat-blade screwdrivers, pliers.

1. Engage 1st gear (move the selector automatic box gears to position "P") and set wheel chocks("Shoes") under the front wheels.

2. Loosen the rear wheel nuts on the side of the replacement pads.

3. Raise and place the rear of the spring ... of the vehicle on the supports. Finally unscrew the fastening nuts and remove the wheel.

Brake system- Hyundai Solaris

Features of the brake system design - Hyundai Solaris

The car is equipped with two independent braking systems: working and parking. The first equipped with hydraulic drive, provides braking when the car is moving, the second brakes the car in the parking lot. Working system double-circuit, with a diagonal connection of the brakes of the front and rear wheels. The first circuit of the hydraulic drive provides the operation of the right front and left rear brakes, the second - the left front and right rear.

If one of the circuits of the service braking system fails, another circuit is used to stop the vehicle with sufficient efficiency.

The hydraulic drive includes the main brake cylinder, vacuum booster, hydroelectronic module of the anti-lock braking system, brakes of the front and rear wheels together with the working cylinders, pipelines.

The parking brake system - with a cable drive for the brakes of the rear wheels.

Rice. 1. Front wheel brake:

1 - brake hose; 2 - bolt of the upper guide pin of the caliper; 3 - air release valve; 4 - bolt-union of the brake hose; 5 - bolt of the lower guide pin of the caliper; 6 - brake shield; 7 - brake disc; 8 - shoe guide; 9 - inner brake shoe; 10 - movable bracket

Brake mechanism front wheel disc, with automatic adjustment of the gap between the pads and the disc 7 (Fig. 1), with a movable caliper 10. A single-piston working brake cylinder is installed on the movable caliper. The shoe guide 8 is bolted to steering knuckle... The movable bracket is bolted to guide pins installed in the holes in the shoe guide. The guide pins are greased and protected rubber covers... A piston with an O-ring is installed in the cylinder cavity of the movable bracket.

Due to the elasticity of this ring, an optimal clearance is maintained between the pads and the ventilated disc, the surface of which is protected by a brake shield.

When braking, the piston, under the action of fluid pressure, presses the inner pad against the disc, the reaction force moves the movable bracket on the fingers and the outer pad is also pressed against the disc, while the pressing force of the pads is the same. When released, the piston is pulled away from the pad due to the elasticity of the O-ring, as a result of which a small gap forms between the pads and the disc.

Rice. 2. Drum brake mechanism of the rear wheel (for clarity, the brake drum is removed):

1 - upper clamping spring; 2 - backlash regulator lever; 3, 11 - rods of the support posts of the pads; 4, 12 - spring plates; 5 - front brake shoe; 6 - spring of the lever of the gap adjuster; 7 - lower clamping spring; 8 - brake shield; 9 - working brake cylinder; 10 - spacer bar; 13 - rear brake shoe

Drum brake, rear wheel with automatic adjustment of the gap between the shoes and the drum. Brake pads 5 and 13 (Fig. 2) are driven by one hydraulic working cylinder 9 with two pistons.

The optimal clearance between the drum and the pads is maintained by a mechanical adjuster mounted on the spacer bar 10.

Rice. 3. Disc brake mechanism of the rear wheel:

1 - parking brake drive cable; 2 - fixing bracket; 3 - bracket for fastening the parking brake cable; 4 - clamping spring; 5, 9 - guide pins of the brake caliper; 6 - air release valve; 7 - parking brake cable lever; 8, 13 - brake pads; 10 - brake shield; 11 - brake disc; 12 - shoe guide; 14 - movable bracket

Rear disc brake(fig. 3) with automatic gap adjustment. The brake pads are driven by one hydraulic slave cylinder. The optimum disc-to-pad clearance is maintained in the same way as the front wheel brakes.

Parking brake Mechanically operated, it consists of a lever installed on the base of the body between the front seats, a front cable with an adjusting device and an equalizer, to which two cables are connected, and levers installed in the rear wheel brakes.

The parking brake does not require any special maintenance. At current repair check the degree of wear of the sector teeth and pawl.

If you find a break in the cables, replace them with new ones.

USEFUL TIPS

Some drivers, in an effort to reduce the wear on the parking brake cables, try to use it less often. Such "economy" leads to the opposite result: the cable, rarely moving in the shell, gradually loses its mobility, it gets jammed, as a result the cable breaks. Therefore, use the parking brake whenever necessary.

Rice. 4. Elements of the brake system located in the engine compartment:

1 - check valve of the vacuum amplifier hose; 2 - a hose of the vacuum amplifier; 3 - fitting of the vacuum amplifier; 4 - plug of the filler neck of the master brake cylinder reservoir; 5 - reservoir of the main brake cylinder; 6 - block of wires of the brake fluid level sensor; 7 - vacuum amplifier; 8 - supply hose working fluid v master cylinder clutch release drive; 9, 13 - nuts securing the main brake cylinder to vacuum amplifier; 10, 11 - nuts for fastening pipelines of the brake system; 12 - the main brake cylinder

Vacuum booster 7 (Fig. 4), installed between the pedal mechanism and the main brake cylinder, when braking due to vacuum in the intake manifold of the engine through the rod and the piston of the first chamber of the main cylinder, creates an additional force proportional to the force from the pedal.

Brake master cylinder 12 (see fig. 4) of the tandem hydraulic brake drive consists of two separate chambers connected to independent hydraulic circuits. The front camera is connected to the right front and left rear brakes, the rear camera is connected to the left front and right rear.

A tank 5 is installed on the main cylinder through rubber connecting bushings, the inner cavity of which is divided by partitions into two compartments. Each compartment feeds one of the chambers of the master brake cylinder.

When you press the brake pedal, the pistons of the master brake cylinder begin to move, the working edges of the cuffs overlap the compensation holes, the chambers and the reservoir are disconnected and the brake fluid is displaced.

Anti-lock braking system brakes(in a variant version). Consists of wheel speed sensors, a brake pedal switch, a hydroelectronic module and an indicator in the instrument cluster. The anti-lock braking system is also equipped with a self-diagnosis system that detects malfunctions of system components.

The safety of car operation directly depends on the serviceability of the braking system. When depressurizing during repairs, air enters the system, which, ultimately, can cause disastrous consequences on the road. In order to avoid them, you need to pump the Solaris brakes. It is very dangerous to drive a car with air tubes, because at the most inopportune moment the pedal can simply fail, which will provoke an accident.

Also worth remembering! If the brake pedal has become noticeably softer than usual, this most likely indicates that air locks have formed in the system.

Cooking tools and accessories

In general, this job is not difficult if you know what to do and have a reliable partner. It is also quite possible to pump one alone, but it is still difficult. Before pumping the brakes on Solaris, make sure that brake fluid, which we will top up, corresponds to the parameters of the already filled one. If we do not know, we will have to change it completely.

Tools and parts:

  1. Open-end spanner 10 mm. A spanner wrench is also suitable, but it will not be so convenient to work with it.
  2. Suitable container for draining liquid. A clean bottle of mineral water is quite suitable.
  3. The hose is about 20 - 30 cm long.
  4. Brake fluid.

We pump the brakes on Solaris with our own hands

Air is removed one by one from each circuit separately and with the power unit turned off.

The order of pumping:

  1. Right rear wheel.
  2. Left front wheel.
  3. Left rear wheel.
  4. Right front wheel.

Hyundai Solaris brake bleeding sequence

Before you start pumping the system, it is worth remembering that when doing this work, you should monitor the fluid level in the tank and periodically top up it. Otherwise, air will enter the brake lines again and the procedure will have to be started anew.

If the pressure on the pedal is still the same soft or the hardness is negligible. It is considered normal when the pedal travel is no more than half the distance to the floor.

Most likely, there is still air in the system. However, you should not immediately start pumping over again. Most likely, brake hoses, their joints, or cylinders are not tight. Therefore, the first step is to pay attention to finding a place where air penetrates, and after fixing the problem, pump the system again.

Replacing brake pads Hyundai Solaris in a timely manner, this is a guarantee of your safety. Therefore, you should not ignore this procedure. Moreover, such a car repair is within the power of almost any driver. Replacing brake pads on a Hyundai Solaris is required as both the pads themselves and the brake discs wear out. After all, the discs themselves change only with the pads.

Brake mechanism Hyundai Solaris is equipped with two independent brake systems: working and parking. The first, equipped with a hydraulic drive, provides braking when the car is moving, the second brakes the car in the parking lot.

The working system is double-circuit, with a diagonal connection of the brakes of the front and rear wheels. The first circuit of the hydraulic drive provides the operation of the right front and left rear brakes, the second - the left front and right rear.

Brake mechanism front wheels Hyundai Solaris disc, with automatic adjustment of the gap between the pads and the disc with a movable bracket. A single-piston working brake cylinder is installed on the movable caliper. The shoe guide is attached with two bolts to the steering knuckle. The movable bracket is bolted to guide pins installed in the holes in the shoe guide. The guide pins are greased and protected by rubber boots. A piston with an O-ring is installed in the cylinder cavity of the movable bracket. Due to the elasticity of this ring, an optimal clearance is maintained between the pads and the ventilated disc, the surface of which is protected by a brake shield. The complete process of replacing the front pads for the Hyundai Solaris is on this page.

To the question, when to change the brake pads for Hyundai Solaris, the answer can be given by special acoustic indicators standing on the pads. Simply put, there are metal "tweeters" on the pads, which begin to emit a nasty sound when braking, if the thickness of the pads approaches a critically low level.

Disc brakes rear wheels Hyundai Solaris has a similar design to the front brakes. The brake pads are driven by one hydraulic slave cylinder. The optimum disc-to-pad clearance is maintained in the same way as the front wheel brakes. In addition, the rear brakes also perform the additional function of a parking brake (handbrake).

Parking brake Hyundai Solaris driven mechanically. Structurally, the parking brake consists of a lever installed on the base of the body between the front seats, a front cable with an adjusting device and an equalizer, to which two cables are connected, and levers installed in the rear wheel brakes. The parking brake does not require any special maintenance. When the parking brake is raised, the cable is pulled and the brake piston presses the rear pads against the disc. detailed instructions to replace the rear pads Hyundai Solaris.

It is worth noting that the front pads wear out much more intensively than the rear ones, and therefore require more frequent replacement.
