In appearance, I think one can argue for a long time. Therefore, I will express my point of view. I can't say for sure which of these cars I like more externally. That the Focus (in my opinion) is like a remnant, that the Ceed is not distinguished by any graceful lines. Here I am not an advisor, choose for yourself what you like best.

Peculiarities

The most important negative Kia feature Sid 2017 - so this is insufficient clearance for our roads. For the 2018 model, the ground clearance has increased slightly, but still it is clearly not for Russian conditions. Design

I like Sid's interior better. Everything is harmonious here - there are no challenging lines. It seems to me that most potential buyers will like it.

The salon is interesting in that the designers were not afraid to use more than two colors and textures in the decoration. And with all the responsibility I declare to you that they did it quite well.

There is something about Focus's interior design that I don't like. Even reluctance to think about what exactly. I just don't like something.

Yes, compared to other interiors, it is not bad. But in comparison with Kia Sid, Ford Focus is clearly something too clever. I give a point to a Korean car. The score was equal: 2-2.

Quality of materials

The quality of materials for both machines is quite acceptable for this class: soft plastic is pleasant to the touch, assembly and fit of all parts are at a good level. Nothing squeaks, does not crack. Moreover, such pleasure is already available for basic configurations Sid. But I can't say this about Focus. In general, I will leave the account unchanged for now.

Ergonomics

Judging by the size of the front seats, it seems that the third generation of the Focus was created exclusively for the driver and front passenger.

Yes, the chairs are great. There is a good lumbar support and developed lateral support. But at the same time (or because of this) these seats take up a lot of space, leaving crumbs of free space for the rear passengers, in which only children or small adults can feel comfortable. In the Ford Focus 2, this injustice was not observed.

There are no such problems in Kia Sid. Here and the panel is made "humanly", and the design of the seats is quite acceptable for both rows, and the dashboard does not interfere with sitting.

Judging by the reviews of those who drove this car for long distances, the lack of lumbar support does not prevent you from sitting comfortably in the chair. Therefore, I want to give a point for the landing to the "Korean". The score is 2-3 in his favor.

With regard to visibility, the situation is unclear. It is absolutely clear that the end of the hood at Sid is not visible. Therefore, it is often not clear what is directly in front of the car, and where it ends. Without parking sensors in front bumper life will become more difficult.

Lateral visibility of the Kia Ceed is better than that of the Focus. The reason is the presence of a small window in the A-pillars in front of the outside rear-view mirrors in the first. The dead zone is minimized.

I like the steering wheel more at the Focus: here the grip is more comfortable, and there are fewer buttons. Sid just has a piano. Should I look at the road or look for a suitable button on the steering wheel? Yes, there are many interesting things there. But couldn't all this disgrace be taken somewhere else available space? Trunk

Now let's talk about volumes. The trunk of a five-door Ford Focus 3 hatchback holds 277 liters, and with the back of the rear sofa folded down - 1062 liters. The trunk of the Kia Sid 2 holds 380 liters, and with the backrest of the rear sofa folded down - all 1318 liters. Driving performance

This is the last thing I would like to compare with these models. The main reason is that the Focus is one of the class leaders in suspension, steering and handling. The second trick, of course, was cooler, but the third one was also one of the best.

The running gear of the Ford model is made moderately comfortable and tough. The car handles well and behaves almost flawlessly on the road. The suspension itself is very energy intensive. Everyone notes that it is simply impossible to “break through” it.

Sid's creators understood who he would have to compete with, but still they failed to do something similar. Yes, the suspension has been made stiff for the sake of better handling. But it unpleasantly fulfills even the slightest irregularities, often just triggering to the bumpers, transferring the energy of the blows to the car body.

If the Focus's suspension stiffness does not interfere with comfort, then the Sid even interferes. Forget about country roads and dirt roads - korean car definitely not for them.

According to the "hodovka", the "American" wins one hundred percent. Him and a plus sign. The score now stands at 4-6.

Summarizing

The score 4-6 in favor of Kia Sid says only that in the compared details he was more often the winner. However, do not assume that he is a winner. Firstly, this is a subjective assessment (of course, I tried to be as objective as possible), and secondly, there are many more nuances that can be assessed only during operation. But, nevertheless, I am ready to risk drawing some conclusions.

  1. If you need more volume, take a LED.
  2. If you are an avid summer resident or like to go out of town to nature, choose Focus, even if the trunk of the Ford Focus Wagon is smaller than that of the Kia Sid SW. It's just better suited for this - ground clearance, plastic skirt and all that.
  3. If your pocket is squeezed by extra money, and you like different "goodies" in the form of additional options - take Ceed.
  4. If you love drive, definitely buy Focus.

For performance comparisons, we used two front-wheel drive versions of the 2017 models, each powered by a 1.6-liter engine. It should be noted right away that due to the fact that both cars are designed for sale in the markets of developed countries, they are very demanding on fuel and do not perceive anything lower than 95th gasoline.

Even though the engines of both cars have the same displacement, they differ markedly in power. So, the "engine" Sid is capable of producing 130 Horse power, and his American opponent is only 85 "horses". Such a significant difference can be attributed to the large torque of the Korean car. Undoubtedly, this also influenced the dynamics indicators.

Opening the driver's door of the Ford Focus, you can involuntarily admire the variety of shapes and colors that are used by the designers of the famous car manufacturer... At the same time, the Focus strikes not only with the beauty of the interior decoration, but also with carefully thought-out ergonomics - using the multimedia system with a large round controller is almost as convenient as in BMW or expensive Volkswagen models. Previous-generation KIA Cee’d owners often complained that the seats in this car were more Asian than European, but in 2015 cars, both the height of the backrest and the length of the cushion allow for a comfortable position. Therefore, in comparison, Focus or Sid, the first wins only in the beauty of the upholstery. The rear of the KIA Cee’d is also much more comfortable, since the passengers have enough headroom and space to the front seats. However, the rather small dimensions of the car make themselves felt - it is very difficult for the three of us to sit on the back sofa, and you cannot call a comfortable long trip in this position.
