The Swedish company Koenigsegg has long conquered the luxury sports car market. Having broken into the market not so long ago, the company quickly conquered its market.

The history of the Koenigsegg brand

The history of the Koenigsegg brand begins in 1994. It was founded by Christian von Königsegg, who at that time was only 22 years old. The young Swede wanted to create the perfect supercar. The prototype of the modern Koenigsegg was a car that had a carbon fiber roof. In 1996, it was tested on various race tracks and in a Volvo wind tunnel. For the general public, Koenigsegg first appeared in 1997 at the Cannes Film Festival. Such a gorgeous performance has secured several large international contracts for the young entrepreneur.

At the 2000 Paris Motor Show, the Koenigsegg was refined and brought to mass production, which kicked off in 2002. For the first time in series production, the CC8S model was presented.

Koenigsegg brand development

There was a major fire in Koenigsegg's primary workshop in 2003, so the headquarters were moved to a new base. It turned out that an area of 4,000 m² and a runway nearby are ideal conditions for production. The runway may well become a racetrack. In addition, Koenigsegg customers can use the landing strip for personal aircraft. There is also a helipad for those traveling by helicopter.

The Koenigsegg brand was one of those introduced with the "green" supercar. In Sweden, this trend is extremely popular, as the state is trying to completely switch to biofuels. In 2007, the first "green" supercar was introduced, which produced 1,018 hp.

The new Agera R, which is now very popular in the luxury sports car sector, was presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Koenigsegg state of the art

Things are going so smoothly for Koenigsegg that in 2009 Koenigsegg expressed a desire to acquire even the SAAB company. True, the negotiations ended with a message about the impossibility of making a purchase. It turned out that Koenigsegg on its own could not do this - either in partnership or with the attraction of loans.

The hundredth Koenigsegg car was released on December 3, 2012. This is the Koenigsegg Agera R Hundra. Almost all cars are produced according to individual orders and are designed based on the wishes of the customer.

Koenigsegg Automotive AB is a Swedish manufacturer of sports supercars, also known as hypercars, based in Angelholm. In March 2009, the Koenigsegg CCXR was selected by Forbes as one of the ten most beautiful cars in history. In December 2010, the Koenigsegg Agera won the BBC Top Gear Hypercar Award. The entire Koenigsegg range.

About company

The company was founded in 1994 in Sweden by a young Christian von Königsegg who wanted to produce a world-class supercar. The Koenigsegg trademark was developed from the heraldic coat of arms of the Koenigsegg family - the shield has been the coat of arms of the family since the 12th century, when one of the ancestors was knighted by the Holy Roman Empire.

In addition to the development, production and sale of the Koenigsegg line of supercars, the company also participates in the green technology program. Koenigsegg is also actively involved in development programs, producing modules and assemblies for electric vehicles and improving piston engines.

Dizzying takeoff

Christian's ambition led to the first car with a carbon roof - the Koenigsegg SS. After testing, the car was presented at the famous Cannes festival in 1997, which contributed to the conclusion of several contracts. Just three years later, the Paris Motor Show saw new model CC8S, and in 2002 it was already in production.

This machine met all safety and quality standards. The chassis and body were made of carbon fiber, which eliminated corrosion and reduced the weight of the structure. The suspension had much in common with the suspension of Formula 1 cars. Only six CC8S were produced in two years.

CCR

The CC8S was replaced by a worthy successor - CCR, which the company introduced in 2004. The following year, it set a new world speed record of 388 km / h. A special feature of this model was the body materials made of Kevlar and carbon fiber, as well as the carbon chassis, which significantly reduced weight and increased its aerodynamic capabilities. The power of the V8 engine reached 806 hp. due to the 2-screw Lysholm compressor and a new titanium exhaust system.

A change of scenery

In 2003, there was a big fire in the assembly shop, and the company moved to its current headquarters - a former fighter base with an area of 4 thousand square meters. It is ideal for testing high-speed cars, transforming a former runway into a racetrack. It is also convenient that many of the company's clients fly to the base on their own planes and helicopters.

CCX and CCXR

In 2006, Koenigsegg began production, where the X marks the 10th anniversary since the first CC was introduced in 1996. The CCX met exclusively the requirements of the United States market. The CCXR is a modified engine with biofuel capability, resulting in twenty-five percent more power than its predecessor CCX.

Agera r

In 2007, the company presented its first experience in the development of a "green" supercar. It differed in that its engine was designed to run on E85 biofuel, while developing a power of 1018 hp. A production-ready sample of the Agera R is shown at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, where it was the lightest car ever, with a dry weight of 1,330 kg.

The following year, at the same event, it was already presented updated: the use of all-carbon wheels helped to reduce the weight by 20 kg. And a special coating applied to the cylinder liners, which reduces friction - reduced fuel consumption.

The Koenigsegg Automotive Society released its 100th car on December 3, 2012, the Koenigsegg Agera R Hundra. It is equipped with a 5.0 liter turbocharged engine of its own production. with a capacity of 960 hp, and using gasoline with an octane rating of 93 - 1140 hp

I must admit that little Christian was still slightly different from the average Russian schoolboy, because he was the heir to an ancient noble family and had the title of baronet. From childhood, von Koenigsegg showed interest in technology, and at the age of 14 he already assembled and modified his moped. At the age of 20, he founds Alpraaz AB, a food supply company. It was thanks to this company that the young Swede was able to amass himself capital, which he later spent on the development of an ambitious project - his own supercar, and, in addition, to receive the proud title of "Sweden's first supercar" for his brand. And who would not be pleased to make their name in history? Christian understood that many enthusiasts before him had failed with this venture. Undeterred by problems, Koenigsegg opens the Koenigsegg Automotive AB car company in 1994.

1994 - Koenigsegg Automotive AB was founded

In addition to the personal funds of the heir to the title, subsidies for the opening of a new business from the Swedish Industrial Development Agency also became the capital for the company. The main idea of the baronet was to create sports car with the characteristics of a Formula 1 car. 22-year-old Christian not only thought out the design of his brainchild himself, but also worked on its appearance, which, however, was later modified by industrial designer David Kraaford.

The first prototype of the new car was built a year and a half later, in 1996, and became the ancestor of a series of experimental cars, which were subjected to fine-tuning tests and search work. Work on the creation of the car was carried out literally on the go. So, the first prototype was run in by the company's engineers on public roads, which attracted the attention of the Swedish police.

Having learned about the details of the project, the Swedish police even issued a permit to test the car on the road, but only ... if there was a body. Yes, yes, the company's engineers brought undercarriage a car that didn't even have a body! The exterior body panels were ready in no time, and the supercar received road test approval. In all stages of work on the car, computer modeling was widely used.

1997 - Koenigsegg CC Prototype

In 1997, the company presented its first child at the Cannes Film Festival. The public was interested in the new supercar, so Christian realized that he needed to bring his idea to mass production. The experimental car was named Koenigsegg CC (Competition Coupe). The Baronet's goal was to beat the legendary McLaren F1 in speed, but this did not happen. On tests, the car reached a speed of 370 km / h, not reaching the F1 record of some 2 km / h!

The car is based on a rigid aluminum monocoque body, to which external panels made of composite materials are attached. Suspensions are independent double wishbones. A modified V8 engine from the legendary Ford Modular engine series was placed under the hood. And to be absolutely precise, it is not under the hood, but within the base, because all Koenigsegg models are mid-engined. Also, until 2015, they were traditionally rear-wheel drive.

Initially, there was a 4.6-liter 32-valve V8, but Koenigsegg increased its volume to 4.7 liters by boring the cylinders, installed forged pistons and a crankshaft, and also installed a compressor. Engine power jumped from a stock 300 hp. right up to 655 forces. A 6-speed "mechanics" is aggregated with it.

With such a charge, lightweight, weighing only 1,200 kilograms, the supercar accelerated to "hundreds" in just 3.5 seconds. On tests, the prototype received good feedback, but it was not enough to build just fast car... He also had to comply with safety and environmental standards. The car's Spartan interior has been complemented by leather seats, air conditioning and a high-end audio system. The modified car was presented at the 2000 Paris Motor Show. As in Cannes, the prototype received many rave reviews, not only from the public, but also from a number of experts. The car has won several design awards and Koenigsegg has been named "Sweden's Car of the Year" by the Swedish magazine Automobil.

2002 - Koenigsegg CC8S

In 2002, the SS prototype was brought to mass production. The main difference new car from the experienced ones, there was a modified design of the front and rear lights and bumpers.

The main feature was the unique lifting doors, called the doors of the "beetle wing" type (not to be confused with the "gull wing"!). First, the door is detached from the body and then pivots upward on unique two parallel-arm hinges designed specifically for Koenigsegg, and freezes at right angles. The hinges pivot on a powered hinge and slide the door in an arc outward. The doors are equipped with gas shock absorbers, so a little effort is required to open such a door. This design allows you to open the door in a confined space, providing sufficient freedom of action for entry / exit.

The central section of the roof was removable, and with a slight movement of the hands, the coupe turned into an open convertible targa. The production model has no technical differences from the SS prototype: the same 655-horsepower V8, 6-speed "mechanics" and double wishbone independent suspensions front and rear. A total of 6 CC8S vehicles were produced.

2004 - Koenigsegg CCR

Christian did not stop there, and already in 2004 the company presented its new CCR model. Thanks to the use of two new Lysholm compressors and a titanium exhaust system, the 4.7-liter V8 engine from Ford, inherited from the CC8S model, has been boosted to 806 hp. It is curious, but true: the engine produced such power on a 92-m gasoline that was not at all supercar.

The engine is equipped with a new 6-speed manual transmission from the Italian company CIMA. By the way, the same company cooperates with. The main external differences from the CC8S model are the enlarged side air intakes, a modified rear part of the car to improve the aerodynamic properties of the structure, as well as new headlights. A total of 20 copies were produced at a price of € 530,000. On order, a 7-speed "mechanics" could be installed on the car, but then the price of the car increased by € 60,000.

On 23 February 2005, this car set a new world record at the Nardo high speed race track in Italy. maximum speed at 388 km / h. Later, however, this record was broken by the Bugatti Veyron.

2006 - Koenigsegg CCX

The new model was traditionally shown to the public at the autumn Paris Motor Show. CCX stands for Competition Coupe X, where X stands for the tenth anniversary since the creation of the first CC prototype in 1996. The car was designed with an eye to the American market and taking into account the same American safety and environmental requirements.

The same 806-horsepower compressor 4.7-liter V8 engine accelerated the supercar to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds, and the top speed approached the cherished 400 km / h. The aluminum alloy monocoque body remains unchanged, while the outer panels are made of composite materials. A total of ten copies of CCX were released at a price of € 630,000 each.

2007 - Koenigsegg CCXR

In 2007, the company introduced a highly accelerated version of CCX, which received another letter in the name - R. Ford's CCX engine was seriously modified, a new compressor, forged pistons and an exhaust system made of Inconel heat-resistant alloy were installed. Power reached 1,018 hp.

It is curious that such indicators were achieved by filling the tank with environmentally friendly fuel - bioethanol E85. The engine can run on regular gasoline, but the horsepower figures will not be as impressive. When using the 1,018-strong configuration, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.1 seconds, and the top speed reaches 402 km / h. Externally, the CCXR car does not differ from the CCX model and is, in fact, its more powerful and environmentally friendly version. The price of the car has exceeded € 700,000.

2007 - racing program, Koenigsegg CCGT

Along with the newest CCXR, a racing prototype dubbed the Koenigsegg CCGT was shown at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The FIA GT1 racing car was based on the CCR supercar. To match technical regulations class car underwent a comprehensive modernization.

Both compressors were removed from the original V8 engine and wasted to increase its volume to 5 liters. In addition, a dry sump lubrication system was installed to address oil starvation problems in corners and a multi-throttle air intake to improve cylinder filling.

The power of the new atmospheric "eight" in comparison with the supercharged version has dropped by more than 200 forces - up to 600 hp. Aggregated with the engine sequential box CIMA gears with magnesium housing.

In accordance with the FIA competition rules, the GT1 "Swede" is equipped with a developed roll cage and pneumatic jacks. The aerodynamics of the car have been refined with racetrack in mind - a rear wing and a new diffuser have appeared, and a more developed spoiler has been installed in the front. But while the prototype was being brought up to a full-fledged car, the homologation rules in the GT1 class were changed: to pass, it was required to release a batch of at least 50 production cars.

Considering that no more than 25 Koenigsegg cars are produced per year, the dream of motorsport had to be said goodbye. CCGT remained in a single copy, which was not destined to start in races.

2008 - Koenigsegg Edition

In 2008, Koenigsegg introduced a special edition of its vehicles called Edition. A total of 20 cars were produced, 14 of which were in the CCX Edition and only 6 were in the CCXR Edition. The series was purely fashionable: the cars were distinguished by wheels made of polished aluminum and body panels made of unpainted carbon fiber.

2009 - Koenigsegg Quant Concept

In 2009, Koenigsegg surprised all enthusiasts and fans with its concept, which received its own name Quant. It is the first electric vehicle for the brand and the first vehicle for the brand with more than two seats in the cabin. True, in Koenigsegg they were only engaged in the design of a four-seater electric car, and the Swedish company NLV Solar AG, which creates photovoltaic cells and batteries, was responsible for the technical "stuffing".

The construction of the almost five-meter electric car is based on a carbon-fiber monocoque on which external aluminum panels are hung. Two electric motors are located on each of the rear wheels for a total of 512 hp. Quant is powered by an electrochemical FAES (Flow Accumulator Energy Storage) battery with flow batteries. Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, streaming batteries use two separate liquids in which active substances are dissolved. Two pumps constantly pump electrolyte through the working area - hence the name.

The advantages of such a battery over lithium-ion are a longer service life and a greater number of charging cycles. Among the disadvantages are high cost and explosion hazard. The battery is located in the base under the floor and can be charged in several ways. In addition to the usual recuperation systems for braking and charging via a wire, you can also charge from the sun's rays, which are captured by a special body coating.

Unfortunately, Koenigsegg did not have enough funds to continue working on this unique project. But NLV does not give up hopes of creating production cars and founded nanoFLOWCELL in Liechtenstein, which presented an experimental prototype of the nanoFLOWCELL Quant F in Geneva in 2014. However, this is a topic for a separate article.

2010 - Koenigsegg Agera

In honor of the 15th anniversary of his company, Christian von Koenigsegg presents a new model called Agera. In Swedish, agera means "to take action." This is exactly what the brand did, producing a car that has become a worthy competitor to the Bugatti Veyron.

Agera is a further development of the concept of the previous models of the brand. Like its predecessors, the Agera is a two-seater hypercar with an aluminum monocoque and carbon fiber body, capable of accelerating to more than 400 km / h. The car is very compact and is only 4.2 meters long.

3 / 3

The aerodynamics of the car have been carefully worked out: a new front bumper with a developed spoiler, enlarged side air intakes and a new rear bumper with a developed diffuser. Not without a new wing.

Under the hood of the car is a 5-liter V8 engine with two compressors developed by the brand's engineers. The basis, again, was taken from Ford's Modular engine, which underwent major changes. The atmospheric version of this engine, as we remember, was run in on the CCGT racing prototype. Compressor version for Agera new engine weighing only 197 kg, it produces over 960 hp. and 1,100 Nm of torque.

The maximum speed of Agera exceeds, as we have already said, 400 km / h, and acceleration to "hundreds" takes about 3 seconds. Wherein new motor meets the latest environmental regulations where this machine is sold in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

The engine has a dry sump in the lubrication system, which lowers the vehicle's overall center of gravity. The lubrication system is controlled by a special electronic system, which, thanks to a high-performance oil pump, allows oil to be supplied under any, even the most difficult conditions, which prevent normal circulation in the motor.

Seven-stage robotic box The dual-clutch transmission was developed in collaboration with CIMA. Thanks to the parallel operation of the two clutches, gear changes are almost instantaneous. In addition, compared to the previous gearbox, the new one is lighter and more compact.

Thanks to all the tweaks, the weight of the car did not exceed 1,350 kg. Among the new products is a limited slip differential with an electronic control unit, which is connected at the required moment, having previously analyzed the longitudinal and lateral acceleration of the car, steering angle, body tilt angle, vehicle speed and engine speed.

The system also includes intelligent control of the distribution of traction between the two rear drive wheels, which adapts to the driving style of the car.

The interior trim of the car is made of expensive leather and Alcantara - especially soft suede, as well as carbon fiber and polished aluminum. All interior details are made specifically for this car.

2011 - Koenigsegg Agera R

For those who don't think Agera is fast enough, in 2011 the company presented an even more forced version, which received the letter R. in the name. The craziest detail of the new hypercar was ... a roof box for transporting skis (by the way, together with skis).

The V8 engine from Agera is prepared to run on a mixture of bioethanol and E85 gasoline and produces a monstrous 1,140 hp. and 1,200 Nm of torque. In addition to new compressors, the car has a more breathable exhaust system. However, if the engine runs on regular gasoline, its characteristics will correspond to the characteristics of the "regular" Agera.

The aerodynamics of the car was also slightly fine-tuned - a new diffuser appeared in rear bumper, an oversized wing and a front spoiler. Another interesting novelty was the new independent rear suspension type Triplex, developed in conjunction with the renowned company Ohlins. The rear wheels are interconnected by a beam, which made it possible to install softer elastic elements.

To lighten the weight, air-filled hollow rims were created. This made it possible to win back as much as 20 kg from unsprung masses. The maximum speed of Agera R exceeds 440 (!) Km / h, and acceleration to 100 km / h takes 2.7 seconds.

On September 2, 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R hypercar set 6 official world records at the Koenigsegg test site: a record acceleration time from 0 to 300 km / h and 200 mph (322 km / h), better braking from a speed of 300 km / h and 200 mph, and the best time exercise "acceleration to 300 km / h (200 mph) and deceleration to 0".

2013 - Koenigsegg Agera S

The supercar was positioned as an intermediate model between the "regular" Agera and the "hot" version of the Agera R. The 5-liter V8 engine is boosted to 1,040 hp and the torque reaches 1,100 Nm. Acceleration to "hundreds" of the S takes 2.9 seconds, and the maximum speed exceeds 400 km / h. The first Koenigsegg Agera S was sold at a special auction in Singapore - the bright blue car went under the hammer for $ 4.2 million to a customer who wished to remain anonymous. Thus, Agera S has become the most expensive car which was sold in Singapore.

2013 - Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra

In 2013, the company built its hundredth car, which received its own name Agera S Hundra (translated from Swedish it means "one hundred"). In terms of technology, the car almost does not differ from Agera. The 5-liter supercharged V8 develops a whopping 1,030 hp. With such a “herd,” acceleration to “hundreds” takes only 2.9 seconds, and the official maximum speed is not disclosed, it is only said about it that “exceeds 400 km / h”.

A distinctive feature of the car from its brethren is the unique finishing of some elements in 24-carat gold. The rear wing, the exhaust pipe and even the springs in the suspension are gilded. In addition, some details in the cabin were also plated with gold, for example, some buttons and switches were gilded. Built in a single copy, the Hundra was sold to an anonymous collector in Singapore. The deal was valued at $ 1.6 million.

2014 - Koenigsegg One: 1

At the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the company unveiled the world's first megacar, the Koenigsegg One: 1. The name of the new car is explained by the fact that its power / mass ratio is 1: 1, that is, each horsepower carries only one kilogram of curb weight. The power of the car is one megawatt or 1,360 hp. - in fact, that's why the creators call their car a megacar. The car is made on the basis of Agera, but deeply modernized.

Among the novelties, it is worth noting a complex of active aerodynamics. The CFRP elements at the front of the vehicle can be bent using hydraulic drives to increase downforce in corners and reduce air resistance at top speeds. Not without an electronically controlled wing, which is also an additional aerodynamic brake.

The car was lightened as much as possible: the carbon fiber elements were made according to a different weaving pattern, which made it possible to reduce the number of carbon fiber layers. Not only discs and seats are made of carbon fiber, but even sun visors (several hundred grams were played on them).

The 5-liter V8 engine from Agera received a new turbocharger with variable geometry, and some of its elements were made on 3D printers, which allowed a little reduction in weight. Even the end piece of the titanium exhaust system was made with printers. Layer-by-layer printing of such a titanium product takes three days. The company felt it would be easier to 3D print a series of six than to find an outsourced company ready to take on the part.

Among the innovations, it is worth noting the adaptive suspension with variable ground clearance... Moreover, the suspension memory contains the settings for the best racing tracks, and the results of the lap can be saved in the owner's smartphone.

A total of 6 One: 1 cars were produced. The price of the model exceeded $ 2 million.

2015 - Koenigsegg Regera and Koenigsegg Agera RS

At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the company presented two new items at once - the Regera megacar and the Agera hypercar in the RS version.

In addition, the megacar does not have a traditional gearbox. Torque is transmitted to the wheels via the Koenigsegg Direct Drive system via an electric motor directly to the axle, resulting in almost no transmission losses.

Like any hyperhybrid, the Regera is capable of driving solely on electricity, but the range is limited by a small battery (so as not to further burden the car) and is only 35 kilometers. The car weighs 1,420 kilograms, but due to the fact that it has more power than mass, it is able to accelerate to "hundred" in just 2.5 seconds. The maximum speed of the new hybrid has not been announced.

The hypercar received a new aerodynamically thought-out body with active aerodynamic elements. Like the rest of the Koenigseggs, the central part of the car roof is removable. The opening of the doors, hood and trunk can be controlled using the remote control.

The standard equipment of Regers includes a multimedia system, developed in conjunction with Apple with a nine-inch touch-screen, leather interior with electric drives and air conditioning. For a surcharge, a titanium exhaust system, Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes and carbon discs will be offered.

In total, 80 hyperhybrids will be produced over the next five years. As the company explains, the number 80 was not chosen in vain: in numerology it means achievement and dominance. The price of the car reaches $ 1.9 million excluding taxes.

Together with Regera, a forced version of Agera, named Agera RS, was shown at the auto show. In the new model, solutions previously applied on One: 1 found their place. So, active suspension and carbon rims were used. The weight of the car dropped to 1,330 kg. The 5-liter V8 develops 1,176 hp. and 1,280 Nm of torque. Acceleration from zero to "hundreds" was 2.8 seconds, and the maximum speed - 415 km / h. The circulation of the model was limited to 25 copies.

Plans for the future

Koenigsegg has been working on an engine design for several years now, where electromagnetic actuators under the control of electronics will be responsible for the operation of the valves, that is, each valve will work independently. Thanks to this, there will be new expanded possibilities for adjusting the valve timing, which will improve the characteristics of the engines. According to the head of the company Christian von Koenigsegg, work on a motor with such a drive is almost finished, prototypes are being tested. In the next few years, the baronet expects to bring this technology to small-scale production.

Unsuccessful purchase of SAAB

In 2009, the General Motors concern was on the verge of bankruptcy due to the financial crisis, and got rid of a number of its assets. Koenigsegg considered the purchase of the Swedish brand Saab, listed in the American concern. The tiny supercar maker has secured a $ 600 million investment by bringing in the Swedish government, which did not want to lose jobs in Saab, and the Chinese company BAIC in the operation. General Motors accepted the offer, but negotiations dragged on. Concern GM feared that the Chinese company would gain access to the technology transferred by the concern to Saab in recent years. What happened to the company next, we described in detail in the obituary - Automotive program Top Gear tested a Koenigsegg CCX car on May 6, 2006. Renowned TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson not only praised the car for its accelerating dynamics and top speed, but sharply criticized it for its lack of downforce. Subsequently, in the race for the best lap time on the telecast racetrack, the car driven by the "tamed racer" Stig was crashed. Analyzing the accident, the driving team came to the conclusion that the car would have been more stable if it had been equipped with a rear wing. On May 28, 2006, the company provided the program with an upgraded CCX with a rear wing. Then, under the control of Stig, the car set a lap record on the track.

Koenigsegg car manufacturing

Initially, the company was located in the small Swedish town of Olofstrom, and in 1997 it moved to Margretethorp, a suburb of Engelsholm, where it acquired a small premises for a factory. In 2003, there was a severe fire at the factory, the cause of which was a short circuit. Fortunately, they managed to save all the documentation, and the company moved again, occupying the old military airfield, located under the same Engelsholm.

The old hangars were converted into a factory, they were equipped with equipment for assembling cars, and one of the buildings of the former airport is now used as an office. The company has restored the old runways, partly turning the former airfield into a test track, on which all the cars he built are run in personally by Christian von Koenigsegg. The presence of its own runway allows the company to receive wealthy clients on private jets.

The company produces up to 20 cars annually. Each car is built by hand to a special order. The company is engaged in the production of its own power units and car components, but a small number of components and assemblies are still purchased from other manufacturers. The firm's suppliers include Ford (engines), CIMA (transmissions), Ohlins (suspension elements), AP Racing and Brembo (braking systems).

What makes Koenigsegg cars so special?

1. Lap records on several well-known circuits (eg Top Gear Test Circuit, Hockenheimring, Laguna Seca, Nürburgring North Loop);
2. Power-to-weight ratio 1 to 1 on model One: 1;
3. Several models for driving on a mixture of gasoline and ethanol;
4. Using the archaic Ford Modular engine as a basis;
5. The design of the doors of the "beetle wings" type.

Cars with the prefix "most" have ceased to amaze. Well, by God, what else can you surprise even a non-connoisseur of automotive technology in the 21st century - with speed, price, size, tuning? Hardly. But if you collect all the excellent qualities of a car, known to man, and realize them in one brand, then how? Doesn't this happen? How it happens. The unique Swedish company Koenigsegg proves once again that the impossible is possible. The main thing is to want very hard.

Christian Koenigsegg's aristocracy and speed

New Koenigsegg Regera

Swedish Koenigsegg cars do not compete with Ferrari, Bugatti, Lambo or Pagani. It's useless. They are simply better. Better just as much as everyone can imagine due to their technical literacy. Koenigsegg are always masterpieces of engineering and design, masterpieces of technology and masterpieces of PR and marketing. Any Koenigsegg car is also worth a masterpiece. The cheapest model can be purchased for at least 700-900 thousand Euros. In rubles it will be ... But what's the difference. All this was achieved practically through the efforts of one person - a descendant of the Swedish knights of the 12th century, Christian Koenigsegg. He led his team to build the first production supercar at the age of 22.

A happy childhood is where all the outstanding victories in human life come from. Christian did not receive cuffs from his relatives for the fact that already at the age of five he dissected VCRs and coffee machines, trying to figure out how they work there, how they work and how to make them better. Probably because after the experiments, any technique in his hands not only continued to work, but worked even better. The guy grew up and became known in certain circles as the god of tuning scooters and mopeds. In Stockholm he had no equal, and the first commercial invention, which, by the way, is used by each of us today, he presented already at the age of nineteen.

The car is not from our galaxy

It was a glueless way of fixing parquet and laminate, however, the guy failed to patent it. His stepfather (he was one of the key leaders of the laminate flooring company) was not very enthusiastic about the idea of attaching the slats in a simple but original way, so it is not surprising that the invention was quickly attached to the legs and now the Click method is associated with other names. And Christian had no time to waste time on all sorts of nonsense - he had already set himself a different goal. Build the fastest and most best car in the world. So in 1994 a company appeared, the logo of which became the family coat of arms of the von Königseggs. The company has built cars from scratch, better than which, perhaps, not yet.

Koenigsegg are cars completely unlike any other sports car in the world, they do not copy anything and do not use other people's components and assemblies.

Each bolt and each terminal is made in Sweden by the hands of a team of several dozen engineers, but each machine is not a single copy, but a serial, full-fledged road car for real life. And what this real life will be like, the new Koenigsegg Regera 2016-2017 model year will show.

Koenigsegg Reger, the best money can buy

At the last auto show in Geneva, von Koenigsegg unveiled the latest live development, a fully series-ready Koenigsegg Regera. She has already collected her portion of reviews and pre-orders, as a concept, at last year's auto show, but the new Rigera 2016-2017 received more than one and a half thousand changes in a year and is now fully ready for the start of sales. The supercar does not have a traditional gearbox, it has the most powerful hybrid engine in the world and the most reliable and progressive technological design.

If someone from car manufacturers and can be blamed in connection with alien intelligence, this is primarily Christian von Koenigsegg. Rieger will be the flagship of the brand, it will be better than any of the company's cars available today, and its price is 1.9 million euros. Whether the car will appear in Russia and how much Koenigsegg Regera costs in rubles, it will soon be possible to find out from the most impatient oligarch. The first 80 cars have already been painted by name; versus the Bugatti Ziron, which costs 2.5 million and is produced in 500 units, the series is not so impressive, but for a tiny Swedish company it is a real breakthrough. Both technological and marketing.

Specifications. How the Koenigsegg Regera works

You need to recharge to be fast and beautiful

The world's first hybrid vehicle designed and installed, tested and perfected power point with a total capacity of one thousand five hundred Horse power... The installation is made of a five-liter gasoline engine with a double turbine. 1115 hp V8 works in conjunction with three Yasa electric cars, two of which are propelled rear wheels and the third works instead of the starter and generator. For the first time in the world in a production car, batteries are used, arranged in an 800-volt unit with water cooling. Previously, a similar solution was used only singularly and only for Formula 1 cars. The battery pack has a power of 4.5 kW / h, when the car accelerates, it delivers 526 kW of power to the electric motors, taking about 200 kW in the recuperation mode. It is significant that the battery pack was developed jointly with an unknown company from Croatia Rimak, they build premium electric vehicles.

God forbid mentioning the word "hybrid" under von Koenigsegg. This type of drive, according to the company's engineers, has tarnished its reputation quite hard and the use of this term in relation to the Koenigsegg Regera is unacceptable. A radically new algorithm for the symbiosis of the internal combustion engine and electricity has been developed here, which is completely devoid of all the drawbacks of the hybrid unit that has already become almost a classic. The success of the car as a technical product is evidenced by the numbers and this is what the real test drive of the Regers of 2016-2017 shows. Note Serial Regers:

  • the total weight of the machine does not exceed 1600 kg;
  • the total power of the power plant was brought to the beginning of the series to 1,500 horses;
  • sports car thrust - fantastic 2000 Nm;
  • dynamic data have no analogues at all on planet Earth: a car will accelerate to a hundred in 2.8 seconds, from a standstill and to a maximum speed of 400 km / h, a pilot can reach a supernatural 20 seconds.

This sports car is special not only for its technical characteristics, but also for the fact that it does not have a gearbox as such. Its role is played by a system that von Koenigsegg managed to patent this time. It is called Kоenigsegg Direct Drive.

  1. Engine internal combustion not used in mode low revs, and in high mode there is no need to change gear ratios transmissions. The total power and elasticity of the power plant is enough so as not to switch anything and do without breaking the torque flow.
  2. From here comes the highest efficiency. In a classic hybrid, a mass of energy simply goes into the air, on the effort for the transmission, on heat losses during its operation, and using the Koenigsegg Direct Drive system, the useful torque transmitted to the drive wheels has doubled.
  3. The principle of operation of the KDD system excludes double conversion of energy - a gasoline engine into electricity, and then again conversion electrical energy in mechanical for wheel drive. Von Koenigsegg avoided intermediaries and avoided energy inefficiencies.

There is no limit to perfection. Koenigsegg Regera - the ideal is in the details

The KDD system, and the very idea of such a power plant, is not just amazing, it is discouraging. How did I not think of this myself? That's it, the laminate is also simply fixed, "click", and you're done. But the Koenigsegg Regera's drive system is far from everything, before which you have to open your mouth in surprise. The car sports an active electro-hydraulic rear spoiler and the same flaps implanted in the front bumper. Exhaust gas removal system exhaust pipe) is made of high quality stainless steel.

The car is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers, which themselves know when and how to change the ground clearance and stiffness, and carbon-ceramic brakes with 397 mm discs in the front and 380 mm in the rear are compressed by six-piston calipers. Wheel disks- different sizes. The front is 19 inches and the rear is 20 inches and is made of carbon fiber. In fact, it may seem that only a pilot who has completed a six-month training course can drive this car, but in fact the Swedes are convincing that any kettle can drive the Koenigsegg Regera. A good couple of dozen auxiliary systems and safety systems are integrated into the car, and in addition, there is a smart electronic stabilization system. It has three modes of operation, and besides all this, for greater comfort, the power plant is suspended on adaptive supports that dampen even a hint of vibration, vibrations and, accordingly, noise. The Koenigsegg Regera is arguably the most comfortable and quiet supercar on the planet.

Born to rule, photo by Koenigsegg Regera

“Reger” is translated from Swedish in different ways, but we still tend to the interpretation of “born to dominate”. And there is every reason for this. This is the best hypercar of our time and offers not only fantastic power and dynamics, but also fantastic comfort. In the interior of the car, polished aluminum, expensive leather and carbon look organically, nanofoam with a memory effect will adapt to the figure of the pilot, a nine-inch touchscreen display will show any information about the operation of the car's systems and allow you to use the global network. The ability to diagnose and configure machine systems remotely, as well as update the software, has also been implemented.

Video: Koenigsegg Regera review

The superhybrid has no equal yet and for the near future it remains the only car, albeit remotely, but still competing with the Bugatti. By the way, at the beginning of autumn 2016, almost all 80 Koenigsegg Regera cars have already found their owners, but if you hurry up, you can still catch the departing train. Christian von Koenigsegg will not wait, he already has plans to build a new hypercar ...
