Japanese Nissan Beetle 4x4 is not easy standard crossover, but the driver has a real apparatus for producing excitement and adrenaline. If only because it has a sport mode, which you want to use even in the case when it is clear that it will be far from small, and in general there is nowhere in Russia to drive at such a speed. However, and appearance The car makes you think about speed - the red color has always been associated with it, and also with the comfort that the Nissan Juke 4x4 tried to provide within its capabilities.

How does four-wheel drive work?

The 4x4 all-wheel drive installed on the Nissan Beetle is an innovative development of leading professional engineers working at Nissan. To understand how all-wheel drive works on a Nissan Beetle, you must first understand that electronic system all-wheel drive All Mode 4x4-i is able to fully adjust the traction vector, and, if necessary, for any road conditions distribute torque between axles for optimal traction.

Equipment and price with all-wheel drive

All cars are always interdependent. The lower the price of the car, the worse its equipment. So you don’t need to assume that the minimum 650 thousand includes the maximum opportunities that are worth a million rubles. These are the cost limits that the Japanese outlined for their bug, which is sold throughout Russia.

They tried to equip it as attractively as possible: one central console, reminiscent of a motorcycle fuel tank, which is worth it. The speed switch is conveniently located on it, the steering wheel responds to every touch. Installed:

  • three-mode settings for vehicle systems;
  • display with many functions;
  • informative steering.

Specifications

Surprisingly pleasant from an external point of view, the car does not lag behind in all areas where it is involved. Five doors and a universal body type make the car attractive for solving family and household problems, especially due to the trunk, which can easily be increased from 251 liters to 830 liters. It accelerates in 8.5 seconds and can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. The version of the beetle with an automatic transmission and a one and a half liter diesel engine will hit the European markets, for which it was manufactured. In Russia, a version of the 1.6 liter engine with a manual transmission is being sold. Average fuel consumption is 9 liters per 100 km.

How does it behave off-road?

The car is definitely not made for dirt, which becomes clear once you look at the ground clearance, which is only 180 mm - there are no downshifts or locks. The Nissan Beetle muffler hangs low, is routed to bypass the drive shafts of the rear axle, and can come off in an instant on any good bump. Oily clay instantly clogs the tire tread, preventing further forward movement. Thus, behavior on the road leaves much to be desired. Everyone who spent time off-road understood that driving here is not recommended.

The steering settings deserve special praise. The crossover's steering rack is quite short - 2.5 turns from lock to lock. This provides fairly quick responses to control inputs and strengthens the Juke in the role of an urban weasel. By the way, the Qashqai is inferior to its “younger brother” in terms of the transparency of the steering drive. The “older” model clearly has less feedback on the rim. It is also significant that the steering force changes in the case of the Juke depending on the speed. If in parking mode the steering wheel is light, then on the highway it predictably becomes heavy.

The petrol 1.6-liter 190-horsepower turbocharged engine of the Juke is its indisputable competitive advantage and, if you like, the dominant of his choleric character. And since in our case the engine was offered in conjunction with an Xtronic CVT variable transmission and all-wheel drive, our Juke turned out to be completely armed to the teeth. However, in order to force the “Japanese” to show character, you need to follow clear rules. First: if you want to start confidently and powerfully, ignore the single-wheel drive transmission mode even in dry weather. Otherwise, 190 “horses” under the hood will seem like an empty declaration. Yes, and power steering will be noticeable. If you press the accelerator pedal at the start, when only the front axle is loaded, the car will sit down picturesquely. rear wheels, and then begins to yaw, the steering wheel will be torn from your hands. However, once you activate the all-wheel drive mode, the electronic system will automatically connect the rear wheels and transfer up to 50% of the torque to them. The result is a much more confident and quick start, especially on wet and icy surfaces.

The second rule: upon reaching 50-60 km/h, the Juke will show the character of a sports car in any transmission mode, especially if the NDCS (Nissan Dynamic Control System), which controls the settings of the engine, CVT, electric power steering and air conditioning, is switched to “Sport” mode. It is not at all necessary to assist acceleration with the manual gearbox mode, since there is almost always enough traction reserve. To quickly gain speed, it is enough to use “kickdown”. Driving in this manner is also matched by the brakes - tenacious and informative.

Golden mean

Price positioning Nissan Juke carefully thought out. For the basic front-wheel drive modification with a naturally aspirated gasoline engine, they are asking about 100 thousand rubles less than for the corresponding version of the Qashqai - 650 thousand rubles. Wherein four wheel drive vehicle in the top version LE, which we tested, will cost 1,065,500 rubles - almost the same (1,354,500 rubles) costs the MINI Countryman S 1.6 AT. The Juke's competitors include the all-wheel drive Suzuki SX4, although it does not fit into the concept of “fashion car” and is a more pragmatic choice (809,000 rubles for the top version). In other words, the all-wheel drive Juke, strictly speaking, has no direct competitors, which once again confirms its uniqueness.

The Nissan Juke is the strangest car on the market. The appearance of this, despite the inconsistency, has moved far from today. What do you need to know before you buy a Nissan Juke? Don't worry, we will tell you everything you want to know about this car as part of the new section "".

In the Republic of Buryatia, in the village of Verkhnyaya Ivolga, there is the Ivolginsky datsan, which consists of five Buddhist temples, a tomb, a library and a greenhouse for the sacred Bodhi tree. The residence of Pandito Khambo Lama, the head of the Buddhists of Russia, and the Buddhist University are located here. This place is so strange, even tourists are indescribably delighted with what they have seen. Visiting the Ivolginsky datsan, it may seem that we are not in Russia.

Nissan Juke is also like the Ivolginsky datsan in Buryatia. Its strangeness and boldness stand out to make this car popular, just as it is not enough for a huge number of tourists from all over the world to travel to the Ivolginsky Datsan just from the unusual temple buildings alone.

For example, in addition to the strangeness of the Ivolginsky Datsan and the Nissan Juke, each of them had to attract the public with something special. The Ivolginsky Datsan is not only the center of Buddhist culture in Russia, but is also a historical and architectural monument. That is why people from all over the world come to this place.

Or, for example, the Juke crossover managed to do this with the help of many practical things that are more interesting to buyers than just some kind of oddity in appearance. The crossover offers us excellent equipment as standard equipment, fun experience driving experience and excellent fuel economy.

Strange and fun... Agree, a wonderful combination.

Not all of us need a crossover with a third row of seats, and there are even many people who don't need the spacious back seats in a crossover. Despite the fact that the Nissan Juke looks relatively wide in appearance, it is nevertheless based on the B-platform, on the basis of which the company produces its smallest cars.

So, for two, the Juke is not cramped, and even seems big. But don’t think that if you go on a trip with five of you in this car, all your fellow travelers will be delighted at the end of the journey.

What's new in the 2015 Nissan Juke?

The car was first shown in 2010 at international motor show in NYC. Unfortunately, the car's debut didn't attract much attention due to its size and quirky design. with the same power units that are still available today (1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which works in tandem with a CVT or with 5 and 6 speed mechanical boxes gears).

From the time of its first launch until today, the machine has received only a few minor updates. For example, with a sports suspension and a more powerful engine.

Transmission: 5, 6-speed manual and continuously variable automatic (variator)

Drive unit: Front (2WD) - FWD and All Wheel (4WD) - AWD

Nissan's lineup includes eight all-wheel drive models, from the tiny Juke crossover to the full-size Patrol SUV. With such an abundance of different offers, the average person can get confused. Why is the Navara so much cheaper than the Pathfinder? Why does the Teana business sedan need all-wheel drive? We were able to understand the character of all-wheel drive Nissans on the icy surface of Lake Baikal.

Nissan X-Trail - from 905,000 rubles

In order for journalists to be able to test all-wheel drive Nissans on the ice of Lake Baikal, the organizers of the event had to obtain a bunch of permits—traveling onto the frozen surface of the lake is officially prohibited. But local residents drive cars on the ice without any permits: some are going to poach, and some are taking tourists who are eager for spectacular photographs to hummocks and ice breaks.

Behind the wheel Nissan X-Trail it seems that you are driving not a crossover, but a large SUV: the seating position is high, the long “superstructure” of the chopped hood looms ahead like a truck, and the suspension unexpectedly nobly swallows any potholes - from small “ridges” to deep gullies. And on a straight line, the angular Nissan remains stable, although at high speeds the reliable handling character is somewhat spoiled by the buildup, which is especially pronounced when driving on “wavy” roads. And on winding roads, another drawback of the Nissan “walking car” appears - roll. In response to the deflection of the steering wheel, the X-Trail will first bow to lateral accelerations and only then draw the trajectory specified by the driver. But he will draw it clearly, without rearrangements.

The X-Trail was updated last year, but only fans of the model will notice the differences in the interior. For others, we have a hint: the multimedia system has changed and a new instrument panel has appeared. Fortunately, the signature angularity for which the X-Trail is loved remains, as do high-quality finishing materials, the highest level of assembly and ergonomics thought out to the smallest detail.

On city streets, the X-Trail is good without reservations. In a traffic jam, the driver will appreciate both the relaxing seat profile and the cooled cup holder on the side of the dash. And when the jam clears, the 2.5-liter Nissan will shoot - just catch up! In addition to quick acceleration, we also praise the transparent brakes and excellent maneuverability, thanks to which the crossover gets an “excellent” rating in “urban” disciplines. Maybe the rating will go down in a tight parking lot? Not at all. Yards are the element of this car: large mirrors and a small turning circle greatly simplify parking in cramped conditions, and a large approach angle, reinforced high ground clearance, allows you to occupy any free patch of the local area.

Nissan Juke - from 969,500 rubles (for all-wheel drive version)

For the Juke test, Nissan came up with a separate exercise: a platform cleared of snow, studless tires and complete freedom of action. If you want, provoke the car with blunders to test the capabilities of the stabilization system, or if you want, turn off ESP and enjoy sliding. The main conclusion: even with the “collar” turned on, the Juke is a very perky car

Under the wheels of the 190-horsepower all-wheel drive Juke there are hard joints of ice layers and bald patches of compacted snow, but the big-eyed Nissan remains soft, quiet and comfortable. And the handling is collected: when turning the steering wheel, which makes less than three turns from lock to lock, the baby literally screws into the corners, provoking the driver to actively drive. What if you play pranks? Then it is better to turn on the Sport mode so that the sensitivity to accelerator actions increases, the steering wheel is loaded with additional force, and the variator imitates a classic “automatic”. This is much more interesting! Moreover, with the VDC stabilization system turned on, it is exciting, but safe - the electronics correct even the grossest mistakes of the driver without problems.

From the outside it seems that the Juke's interior ergonomics have become a victim of design experiments. Not at all: despite the apparent frivolity, the interior of the small crossover is very comfortable (with the exception of rear seats). In addition, Juke allows you to set the “mood”: you can choose bright red interior panels (as in the photo), or you can limit yourself to a more serious gray color scheme

Overall, the Juke is a great toy. The game begins at the car showroom: the appearance of the crossover changes greatly depending on the color. Then passengers begin to play, trying to guess how many doors there are. Further more. The climate control unit, unusual in shape, turns out to be unusual in content: the buttons just controlled the temperature and air flow distribution, and now they control the settings of the engine and variator. What's that on the instrument panel? Diagram of torque distribution between wheels! But, having played enough, Nissan Juke owners will forget about electronic toys, choose “normal” settings and complain about the tiny trunk and cramped conditions rear seats. How long does it take to play enough?

Nissan Qashqai - from 975,000 rubles (for all-wheel drive version)

If we compare the prices of all-wheel drive Nissans, a paradoxical situation arises: the all-wheel drive Qashqai turns out to be only 5,500 rubles more expensive than the small Juke! True, the Juke is much more powerful and better packaged, but the fact remains. Another fact: today is the most affordable Nissan with all-wheel drive - this is a 2.0-liter X-Trail with a manual transmission

Relatively recently, Qashqai underwent modernization. Even a few kilometers along the Buryat winter road was enough to understand that a lot has changed. Firstly, the engineers shook up the suspension, and the crossover got rid of tooth-crushing rigidity. Now the Qashqai pleases riders with silence and comfort, although it is better to slow down before large bumps. Secondly, the retuned electric booster truly “broadcasts” the reactive action, so the car no longer needs to be caught “by touch” when cornering. A completely different car - before it was noisy, shaking, harsh, and the steering was sorely lacking in information content.

Qashqai received an all-round visibility system. Of course, parking a compact Nissan “in the mirrors” is not a problem for an experienced driver, but four external surveillance cameras (in the side mirrors, radiator grille and on back door) significantly simplify the process, since they clearly distinguish between concrete flower beds and dug-in posts. They are asking 14 thousand rubles for the “electric eyes” for the SV+ configuration and 16 thousand for the LE+

About the rest that was not affected by the 2010 restyling - in telegraph mode. Tall passengers of the Qashqai will still find it cramped: if you sit in the back, you will be resting your head on the ceiling, and in the front, “claustrophobia” is contributed to by high-set seats and heavily piled-up roof pillars. The base 1.6-liter engine, of course, is enough to keep up with city traffic, but the 2.0-liter crossover is much faster, although according to the passport the difference in acceleration dynamics is small. Traditionally, a variator works well - the gear ratio changes logically, and the control electronics quickly adapt to the driving style of a particular driver. And the ground clearance is 192 mm, the quick-acting clutch in the drive rear wheels and intelligent imitation of locks make the Qashqai a truly universal car.

Nissan Teana - from 1,044,000 rubles (for all-wheel drive version)

Under the guise of the Teana Four lies the filling of the X-Trail: the all-wheel drive sedan received an engine, a CVT and an all-wheel drive system from the crossover. The all-wheel drive Teana is raised higher above the road than its single-wheel drive sisters - the stated ground clearance is 165 mm, and in order to maximize the vehicle's cross-country ability, Nissan engineers removed rear stabilizer lateral stability. Hence the rolls

I didn’t have much time to test the all-wheel drive Teana, so I quickly jumped into the car... And the desire to rush disappeared. Even though the front seats do not have good lateral support and the leather is too slippery, the driver’s seat is akin to a cozy home sofa in which you want to relax and have fun. And the overall feeling of the interior is cozy, relaxing, even the wood-look plastic inserts are completely appropriate and do not irritate with their unnatural shine. Relax mobile! Eleven speakers of the Bose audio system pleasantly envelop you with the sounds of a symphony orchestra, dual-zone climate control instantly warms up the cabin frozen on a Siberian night, simultaneously ionizing and aromatizing the air... The most important thing is not to rush anywhere.

On the back sofa you can lounge imposingly, fold back the wide armrest and enjoy the ride, using the remote control to control the ventilation, heating of the sofa and climate control settings. Better yet, take the seat to the right of the driver: in expensive trim levels, Teana sports an ottoman seat, the retractable section of which carefully supports the passenger’s ankles

What if you need to hurry? There are no complaints about the engine-transmission combination: no continuously variable tediousness, but pure pleasure from the brilliant tuning of the accelerator and variator. And even the absence of virtual broadcasts is not annoying at all. But the chassis Japanese sedan designed specifically for comfort: in the Teana, of course, you can rush along a rough road without fear of suspension failures or nauseating rocking (only the imprints of tractor tracks on the packed snow force you to reduce speed - the microprofile of the road is conveyed in too much detail), however, attempts to aggressively attack sharp turns end with a slight fright - the rolls are too great. Although the behavior of the car remains predictable, and the steering wheel fills with natural effort.

Nissan Navara - from 1,190,000 rubles

How did I manage to “plant” Navara? In a completely stupid way. Having noticed a snowy shift ahead, I decided to “measure” the obstacle. But as soon as I got out of the car,... Hum! This snow cover could not support the heavy all-wheel drive, and the Navara ended up sitting tightly on the bottom. I’m sure that underway, with the locking and lowering switches on, the pickup would have passed the ill-fated section. And so I had to call Patrol for help

Instructions for Nissan owner Navara is simple - you need to constantly repeat, like a mantra: “I drive a truck... I drive a truck...”. Otherwise, succumbing to the groovy nature of the 190-horsepower diesel engine, you will forget yourself and rush around in a spring-loaded pickup truck like a spring-loaded Pafik. And this is fraught with trouble! With the “front end” disabled, an unloaded pickup truck on a bumpy winter “grader” wags its light stern too willingly, which can frighten an inexperienced driver. True, with all-wheel drive the car holds a straight line much more confidently, but then another problem arises - sharp turns The Navara begins to desperately “plow”, persistently trying to straighten its trajectory. Also keep in mind that an empty car shakes passengers a lot on any surface.

The last thing you would expect from a utilitarian car, which is the “default” Navara, is such a luxurious interior. Among the ergonomic miscalculations, we note only the peculiar height adjustment of the seat - the cushion moves separately from the backrest - and the lack of adjustment of the steering wheel for reach. However, the listed features do not prevent a driver of any size from quickly choosing the optimal seating position.

But enough of the asphalt exercises - on the right you can see a snow-covered clearing where you can test the off-road capabilities of the Navara. Shall we take a risk? With the “lower” switched on, the car confidently crawls through the virgin snow literally at idle, and the electronics selectively brake the wheels, very naturally simulating the operation of cross-axle differential locks. And if you turn on the real lock, which is present on 2.5-liter pickups, the driver will get scared before the Nissan gets stuck. A real "rogue"!

Nissan Pathfinder - from 1,411,000 rubles

The fantastic beauty of the hummocks owes their appearance to seismic activity - up to a dozen small earthquakes can occur on Lake Baikal in a day, causing the thick ice to crack. When a soul-rending crash is heard over the surrounding area, the locals say: “Baikal is breathing!” Baikal “breathes” not only from tremors - often blocks of ice break under their own weight

After the wayward Navara, the behavior of the co-platform Pathfinder seems absolutely easy. Where did the rocking and lateral roll go? Over the waves of asphalt and bald patches of snow, the Pafik rushes elastically, like a thoroughbred business-class sedan. And the transmission works excellently: the smart clutch seems to anticipate when the front end needs to be connected, which is why the car reacts with absolutely all-wheel drive! We even tried to fool the tricky electronics - we placed a heavy crossover on the smooth mirror of winter Baikal and took off sharply. But Pathfinder was not afraid and started moving “correctly”, turning all four wheels.

You can love the Pathfinder not only for its passenger habits, but also for its cargo capabilities: In most trim levels, the crossover has a 7-seater cabin, which, as Nissan claims, offers 64 transformation options. We didn’t count it, but we willingly believe it! So for travel and outdoor activities big company"Pafik" fits like no other

What is written about engines applies equally to both Pathfinder and Navara. Let’s immediately answer a popular question: are 3.0-liter cars worth the money? Definitely yes. Firstly, the diesel “six” does not bother you at all with “tractor” grunt and vibrations - this engine is even quieter than many of its gasoline counterparts. Secondly, the well-tuned 7-speed automatic transmission keeps the engine speed at the torque level, so the driver never feels a lack of traction. Naturally, after a 230-horsepower diesel engine, the 2.5-liter unit (190 hp) seems like a collective farmer: it mutters at idle and whistles with a turbine. But the noise accompaniment remains extremely delicate - passengers do not raise their voices. The driver is also happy: if you don’t get carried away high revs, then the dynamics are quite car-like, and the fuel consumption is scanty.

Nissan Murano - from 1,424,000 rubles

Is it possible to fall through the ice? The ice shell is now thick enough to support a two-ton Murano. But at the beginning of winter, here, in the vicinity of Ulan-Ude, a heavy SUV sank, mercilessly dragging four passengers to the bottom. “It was Baikal that accepted the victim, this happens every year,” the locals say about what happened. Our group of journalists, fortunately, did not make any sacrifices

In terms of interior quality, the Murano is confidently catching up with its “big brothers” like the Infiniti EX or Lexus RX. But Nissan is almost half a million rubles cheaper! And even though the Murano front panel is designed less intricately, the interior captivates with memorable details: the door upholstery is assembled with “curtain” folds, the yellowish lighting literally “flows”, the door handles are bent into stylish boomerangs. I also liked the 7-inch “TV” of the multimedia system - with an abundance of functions, controlling the electronics turned out to be intuitive. But the premium image crumbles into pieces after several kilometers on a winter country road: why does the car shudder hysterically on bumps, and why do the interior parts rattle on almost new examples? As the speed increases, rocking and yaw are added, which makes the driver nervously squeeze the steering wheel. No, not "premium".

The interior of the Murano is truly luxurious and delights with “premium” little things, such as optitronic devices and many electric drives - even the position of the steering wheel is adjusted with a toggle switch! It’s easy to use the on-board systems: controls for climate, music and electronic gadgets are clearly separated, and the interface of the multimedia system is extremely logical

Although on high-quality surfaces, the Murano remains composed: it accelerates confidently, reacts to steering deviations with noble, measured reactions, and the long-travel brake pedal allows you to accurately dose the force. The most important thing is not to try to be fast, otherwise the large crossover will disappoint with noticeable rolls and dives. It’s all the more disappointing that such contradictory suspension settings were given to a car that has a truly cool 249-horsepower engine - you slightly press the accelerator pedal and enjoy powerful acceleration. At the same time, one gets the feeling that a classic hydromechanical “automatic machine” is working under the hood, since CVT Murano moves through the six fixed gears very naturally.

Nissan Patrol - from 2,770,000 rubles

The appearance of the average “patrol driver” has changed beyond recognition: from now on, Nissan’s flagship is being bought former owners Toyota Land Cruiser 200, since the Patrol’s interior is more spacious, the finishing is noticeably richer, and the multimedia capabilities are implemented much more clearly. But Patrol is still losing the battle for the market - Toyota is selling better. Perhaps Nissan just doesn't have enough diesel

How the Patrol accelerates! Under the angry growl of a 405-horsepower engine, the three-ton colossus “shoots” to “hundreds” faster than many sports cars - in 6.6 seconds. At the same time, the 7-speed automatic transmission quickly changes gears, and those who like to “play around” have an honest manual mode. But pulling the gear lever quickly gets boring - it’s better to drive slowly and be amazed at how quickly other road users clear the far left lane. This is how a dangerous feeling of permissiveness is born! This feeling is indulged by hydraulic system Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC), - at the right moment opening and closing the valves of the anti-roll bars, this system reduces the sway of a high-set body.

Bliss? Not really. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to get pleasure from driving the Patrol: in the city crowd, when the space for maneuver is very limited, its huge dimensions interfere, and on a suburban highway... When we drove the Pathfinder at cruising speed along a narrow two-lane road, it repeatedly tried to overtake us Patrol - drives into oncoming traffic, accelerates and returns. What's happened? After the finish, a colleague driving the Patrol admitted that he simply couldn’t feel the car - in the near-zero zone the steering wheel was too “empty”, which, in the absence of the expected rolls (remember the HBMC system again), completely “untethered” the Patrol from the driver. But if you roll in and understand the character of the big Nissan, you can do the unimaginable: grip the snowy side of the road at speed, don’t brake for bumps - it’s a blast!

Technique

The most interesting transmission schemes are found in the expensive Juke versions - front-wheel drive with separately connected left and right rear wheels. This scheme is used to improve controllability and cross-country ability - by analyzing information from the sensors, the electronics “shift” the torque so that more torque goes to the more loaded wheel (when turning, this creates a “steering” effect). Drive types are controlled using a key that allows you to choose between permanent front (2WD mode) and automatically connected all-wheel drive (4WD-V and 4WD modes). What is the difference between 4WD-V and 4WD? As Nissan says, when selecting the 4WD position, the transmission operates according to a more “tough” program, diligently simulating permanent all-wheel drive. But in practice, the car behaves the same in both “soft” and “hard” modes

The transmissions of the Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano and the all-wheel drive Teana are designed in a typical way for crossovers: a multi-plate clutch with electronically controlled, which is triggered when the front end slips, and instead of mechanical inter-wheel differential locks, their electronic imitation is provided. To control the transmission modes, rotating controllers are installed on the center consoles of the Qashqai and X-Trail, which offer the following drive options: front-wheel drive, automatic all-wheel drive and “hard” all-wheel drive. Murano and Teana do not have any controllers - when to drive in front-wheel drive and when in all-wheel drive, the car decides itself. True, on the Teana you can forcefully lock the clutch in the transmission (using an inconspicuous button to the left of the steering column), but if you accelerate to 10 km/h, the electronics return to Auto mode

The Pathfinder and Patrol can be driven with rear-wheel drive, you can lock the transmission rigidly or select the “following” option - then at the slightest hint of slipping, the “front” will engage automatically using an electronically controlled clutch. The Patrol has a double-decker transmission control joystick on the central tunnel: a rotating ring controls the selection of the drive type and the inclusion of “lower”, and the buttons are responsible for locking the rear differential and selecting the road program: “sand”, “highway”, “rocks” or “snow” . In different modes, the SUV responds differently to the accelerator pedal and operates slightly differently electronic assistants(primarily an assistant for assisting descent/ascent). Pathfinder has a simpler drive control system - a “twist” at the bottom of the center console, and there is no inter-wheel differential locking - only a “synthetic” imitation

The Navara transmission is structurally similar to the transmission of other pickup trucks available on Russian market: constant rear drive, rigidly connected “front end” and downshift. The only way the Nissan utility vehicle differs from its competitors is the ability to engage the front wheels at speeds of up to 100 km/h. But the designers of the car had to make a compromise - in rear-wheel drive mode, the front axle axle shafts and the cardan continue to rotate, although the “Japanese” was not memorable either for vibrations or noise characteristic of such a scheme. Switching transmission modes is controlled by a rotating puck; the rear differential on 2.5-liter pickups is locked with a button. The 3.0-liter Navara uses a limited-slip differential instead of a lock, which, of course, reduces slipping, but on real off-road conditions it helps little
