Speed index in the form of letters of the Latin alphabet is applied to the side surface of the tire. It indicates the maximum permissible speed for a given tire under normal load.
If the car travels faster than the speed index for a long time, then there is a real risk of tire destruction. Accordingly, "real Russians", i.e. fans of fast driving should pay close attention to this indicator (especially when choosing summer tires). Its values are shown in the table.

Load index- shows the maximum permissible tire load and is indicated by a number. The load index values are shown in Figure 6. Check the load index if you plan to transport heavy items on your Nissan X-Trail.

Optimal tire pressure (i.e. pressure specified by the manufacturer) ensures the stability of the contact patch and quick heat dissipation, reduces rolling resistance, and prevents uneven rubber wear.
Excessive pressure increases the risk of tire damage, increases the load on the suspension parts, increases the noise level, and deteriorates traction. If it is insufficient, the rubber overheats, which leads to a reduction in its service life, fuel consumption increases, and it becomes more difficult to drive a car.

The answer is simple - refer to the factory recommendations. In the opening of the driver's door, on a nameplate attached to the lower part of the B-pillar, all the necessary indicators are indicated (see Figure 7).
Typical pressures for various versions of the Nissan X-Trail are 2.3-2.6 kg / cm 2 for the front wheels and 2.1-2.4 kg / cm 2 for the rear. It should be noted that measurements must be taken on cold tires.
