Audi A4 is a class “D” sedan, which is liked by both ordinary consumers and officials. The latest generation of the model was presented this year and has not yet reached our market.

In fact, the car became updated version Audi 80 and was released in 1994. Some features of its predecessor are still recognizable in it. The car has the highest production volume in the lineup of the German company. In terms of the number of cars, it is in fourth place after the models of the world's major manufacturers.

In March 2011, the five millionth copy of the car rolled off the assembly line. But we will consider where the Audi A4 is assembled in this article.

Where is the Audi A4 assembled for the world market:

- Germany, plant in Ingolstadt and Wolfsburg;

- China, a plant in Changchun;

- Japan, a plant in Tokyo;

- Ukraine, plant in Solomonovo;

- Indonesia, a plant in Jakarta;

- India, plant in Aurangabad.

The car is delivered to Russia directly from Germany. We will talk about the characteristics of the model later.

In 2013, the Audi A4 was supposed to be assembled in Russia. SKD in Kaluga has been authorized by German manufacturers.

The fact is that in our country, starting next year, officials are prohibited from buying cars that are not produced by us. And the fourth Audi is quite popular among politicians.

The new production was announced back in August 2012. The chairman of the corporation said that Audi A4, A5 and A6 will be assembled in Russia.

But, this year, we not only decided not to launch new production facilities, but also to close old ones. The lineup assembled in Kaluga has shrunk by three times. Now only Audi A6 and A8 are produced here. The plant's capacity allows the production of 10 thousand vehicles per year. But, how much has been released over the past 11 months of 2015 is not reported. The economic situation does not allow the plant to operate at full capacity.

The conveyor was reopened in 2013 when the company's management had an idea to increase production. All parts were supplied to us from Germany, and we only fastened them together.

Then the plant invested 570 million euros. Due to inflation, they virtually disappeared.

For the first two months of the current year Audi sales A4 in Russia decreased by 23%. The rest of the dynamics are still kept secret.

Characteristics of the Audi A4 for our market

Audi A4 for Russian market is being modernized for the eighth time. But, this model is completely redesigned. Some motorists worried that it turned out worse than its predecessor. Let's see if this is so.

The axle suspension has been improved a lot. To be honest, almost perfect. The motor is located in the front axle. Therefore, the hood turned out to be a little loaded. Engineers have slightly increased the wheelbase. Compared to the seventh generation, it has grown by 160 millimeters. The battery, oddly enough, was moved to the trunk.

The car has become much more manageable and more stable. Now you can ride it quickly and actively. The body came out branded. He got a predatory front end and an aggressive bumper. The squinted front optics are perfectly combined with the trapezoidal radiator grill.

For our market, the Germans have made two modifications. We are talking about a four-door sedan and a five-door station wagon. The latter is not very popular among our consumers. But, everything is on sale - it's not bad. On the basis of the sedan, they made a model similar to an SUV.

The classic car is extremely resistant to corrosion. Even if you peel off the paint a little, the metal will not rust. Passive safety for both passenger and driver received five stars in 2009. Here you can see some great LED lights that are everywhere. It looks technologically advanced, but in practice it is completely unsightly, or rather, expensive.

In the salon you can feel all the high cost and premium quality of the brand. Solid and high quality materials will not leave anyone indifferent. The parts have been fitted very precisely, and the durability of the cladding has been proven for generations. Even in the basic version, the machine is equipped quite expensively.

The central part of the dashboard is turned towards the driver. The seats have developed support and the zero position of the speedometer arrows with a tachometer. The wheelbase of 2810 millimeters is suitable for all roads. On back seat enough space for any person. If you sit in the middle, then the massive floor will interfere with you. Shelf at rear window begins to creak over time, and the windows work with a squeak. But, these are all the shortcomings that were discovered.

Gasoline and diesel motors are presented on our market in different proportions. In gasoline units, an individual ignition coil may fail. The most popular motor is 1.8 liter engine... But the most unclaimed 3.2-liter.

For gasoline units, the chain can stretch and the hydraulic tensioner break. This happens with runs from 70 to 100 thousand kilometers. Therefore, do not forget to control the motor. The pump on a 1.8 liter engine may leak.

Audi A4 can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. They are quite stable and passable. The transmission is no different weak points... She's a six-speed manual. On the market, you can also find a variator or a robot. The latest dual-clutch transmission is a little weak.

The suspension of the car is similar to the unit of its predecessor. And in front and behind there is a multi-link. Chassis differs in energy intensity. Stiffness settings vary, as do dampers. The four operating modes of the machine are changed by a button near the gear selector. Over time, it may become difficult to replace parts. The bolts may stop turning. We'll have to heat and drill them.

The trunk volume is 480 liters. That's a lot for a model like this. Parking brake electric. It is turned on by a button near the gear selector.

The weak points of the machine are gasoline engine... He has chain stretching. Optics can also fail. Especially the front. LEDs burn out at the back.

In general, the advantages of the car include high safety, rich finishing materials and high-quality seats. Also, it is worth noting the problem-free motor and a good transmission. Stability and controllability all praise.

The price of the car is quite high. But, for a German assembly, it is acceptable. Unfortunately, optics often burn out, and the seats are folded only in additional equipment... But, this is all insignificant, because the Audi A4 is very high quality and reliable. Therefore, if you value prestige and rich design, you can afford it.

The history of Audi is a gripping and eventful narrative, with the beginnings of automobiles and engines dating back to the 19th century. Here are the most important milestones in the company's history:

  • 1899: First chapter Audi stories associated with the name of August Horch, the founder car company Horch & Cie. Motorwagenwerke. Ten years later, he founded another car manufacturer in Zwickau - Audi Automobilwerke.
  • In 1921, Audiwerke AG amazed automotive world introducing new Audi K 14/50 with 50 hp, the first german car left-hand drive.
  • 1932: The four rings symbolize the merger of four Saxon carmakers - Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer - into a single venture to create Auto Union AG, the second largest car manufacturer in Germany.
  • 1969: The parent company Volkswagenwerk AG merged Auto Union GmbH and NSU Motorenwerke AG in Neckarsulm. The new company was named Audi NSU Auto Union AG. In 1971, a new Audi slogan appears - "Superiority of high technology".
  • In 1985, the company changed its name from Audi NSU Auto Union AG to AUDI AG. Since then, the company and the cars it produces bear the same name. The head office was relocated to Ingolstadt again. Audi's subsequent success is closely linked to a number of technical innovations. Among them: fully galvanized body, perfect aerodynamic design, widespread use of turbocharged gasoline engines, economical diesel engines with direct injection technology, aluminum body, hybrid drive, gasoline engines with direct injection technology, heavy-duty eight- and twelve-cylinder engines.

SKD assembly in Kaluga of the A6 sedans (costs in Russia from 2,600,000 rubles) and A8 (from 5,745,000 rubles) has been phased out, a top manager of one of the dealer companies told Vedomosti that the production of the Audi Q7 crossover (from 3,750,000 RUB) continues. In the current production plan(approved twice a year) the Kaluga VW car plant provides for the assembly of only one Audi model - Q7, said a person close to the car plant. “We are quickly adapting SKD production (from SKD, semiknoked down - semi-disassembled; SKD. - Vedomosti) to the current market needs. Now at the plant in Kaluga, the model Q7, the brand's bestseller in Russia, is being produced using the SKD method, ”the Audi representative confirmed, but the A6 and A8 models, produced in Kaluga in 2016, can still be ordered in Russia.

In Kaluga, in addition to Audi, a SKD assembly of the VW Touareg crossover (single-platform with Q7) and LCVs of the same brand is also carried out, the dealer knows. Their release in the first half of the year will continue, says a person close to the car plant. The crossover segment is the second in terms of capacity in Russia after the B-segment, according to Avtostat.

Mercedes-Benz at the entrance

The model range of BMW, which is being produced at Avtotor, has not been reduced, but the company has suspended the import of six niche models due to the requirement for their certification for Era-Glonass. Passenger cars Mercedes-Benz in Russia are not yet produced - the construction of a plant in the Moscow region may begin in 2018, it is planned to sign a special investment contract with the company, said Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov (quoted by Interfax). The annual production will amount to 25,000-30,000 cars.

The main reason for the reduction lineup Audi cars assembled in Kaluga - low demand in the Russian market, including due to the devaluation of the ruble, explains a person close to the car plant: Audi has a small localization, it is often more profitable to import them. In 2016, according to the Association European business(AEB), Audi sales in Russia fell to 20,705 units, or 19.3%, and the entire market passenger cars and LCV by 11%. VW announced that it has stopped deliveries to Russia of six Audi models, including A8: investments in certification of models for "Era-Glonass", which became mandatory on January 1, 2017, turned out to be too large. According to the dealer, in 2018 a new A8 is expected in Russia, already with the Era-Glonass system, apparently, the company decided not to spend money on certification of the current model.

To keep the sales of the Audi brand intact, the German carmaker brought in an additional number of cars of some models, including the A8, last year.

The cessation of assembly of A6 and A8 in Kaluga will not affect sales of the brand in Russia, the dealer believes: the price of locally assembled and imported cars of these models is the same, besides, the formed stocks from cars previously produced in Kaluga are sufficient for sales throughout the year.

The main specialization of the VW group car plant in Kaluga is the production of cars using full-cycle technology. In this way, two VW models are produced - sedan Polo and crossover Tiguan as well as liftback Skoda Rapid... Due to reduced demand (total sales of the VW group in 2016 in Russia fell, according to the AEB, to 156,712 units, or 4.9%), the plant with a capacity of 225,000 cars per year is less than half loaded. In 2016, 110,000 cars were produced here, Interfax reported on Friday, citing company data. But compared to 2015, the output grew by 13%. Export orders helped, a person close to the car factory comments: in 2016, bodies were manufactured for deliveries to Germany, as well as finished machines Polo models for Mexico. In addition, serial production of the new Tiguan started in Kaluga in the fall. Investments in the project amounted to 180 million euros, the company said.

In the market or in a store, it has always become a special argument in the direction of the profitability of making a purchase, mainly when it characterizes expensive products, in particular, equipment and transport. For every car owner, for many years, a car with the coveted four rings under the Audi brand has been an undeniable example of reliability and quality. Most drivers and potential buyers of cars are sure: the country of manufacture of Audi and the place of assembly are absolutely identical concepts, which is initially an incorrect statement. In this article, we will tell you where Audi is assembled, focusing on the model range and popular copies from the manufacturer, whether German ones can be found in the Russian Federation and how significant is the influence of this fact on the reliability, quality parameters and performance of the car.

The location of the factories for the production of Audi cars.

A bit of history

At the present time, as well as throughout the entire long period of the existence of Audi, its products were considered first-class, reliable and deserving of consumer attention. The entire range of cars under this brand belongs to the premium category, characterized by perfection from both a technological and a design position. The history of the company is more than a hundred years old, during this time the company has gone through many transformations and changes, improved and grown, and today it is one of the leading and competitive corporations leading in the automotive industry. The world first heard about the Audi brand back in 1910: after that the company was renamed several times due to the legal and social nuances of that time, returning its name only in 1965. At the present time, the company successfully operates as part of the Volkswagen-Audi concern, conquering all large segments market and positive ambitions of consumers, despite the far from democratic cost of their cars.

The scale of production of cars under the Audi brand is truly global: the vehicles of the concern are delivered to almost all corners of the world, which makes you wonder if several factories in Germany can cope with such a volume of work? Of course not: the subsidiaries of the concern have a global geography, which predetermines the need to clarify before whose assembly a certain model, since this indicator can predetermine the quality of the product and its operational resources.

Locations of Audi branches

In the technical documentation for Audi cars, Germany is indicated, however, the manufacturer of the products does not always have a German location. The concern's branches are located on almost all continents, which allows us to actively supply products to all countries of the world, cope with the global scale of production work, while developing new copies, strengthening its position in the market. With regard to production, all significant, predetermining the corresponding functionality vehicle components and assemblies are manufactured mainly at factories in Germany. Branches in most cases are engaged in assembly work, which minimizes the factor of non-conformity of the goods to the global brand. The location of the assembly plants of the Audi concern is predetermined by their following geography:

  1. Germany, as a country of manufacture of Audi, has more than two dozen enterprises for the production of vehicles, as well as centers directly involved in design and engineering issues.
  2. In the United States, the largest complex in terms of scale and production trends is located, where Audi is assembled of almost all modifications, providing 100% of the North American regions with products.
  3. Manufacturing divisions in Brazil - five SKD subsidiaries, plus factories in Argentina and Mexico that assemble select Audi models - provide products to the Latin American automotive markets.
  4. The production of models for African countries is carried out at a plant in South Africa.
  5. Asian consumers have the opportunity to purchase domestically automotive markets vehicles under the Audi brand, assembled at factories in India and Malaysia, with SKDs manufactured in China.
  6. In European countries, in addition to cars with an absolute German ancestry, Audi models, assembled at factories in Slovakia and Belgium, can be supplied.
  7. The Russian plant in Kaluga deals with SKDs supplied to domestic markets.

Let's try to answer the current questions of domestic consumers, which Audi models are assembled in Russia, who manufactures cars for the Russian market that are not manufactured in Kaluga, and we will analyze how the fact of domestic interference in the equipment of cars is reflected in the quality and operational features of products.

Warranties from the manufacturer or dependence of reliability on the location of the assembly branch

The German manufacturer, over the years of its existence on the market, is characterized as a responsible and reliable car supplier. Despite the fact that the branches of the Audi plant are scattered all over the world, the Germans are scrupulous about the manufacture of products at absolutely all factories, the human factor of influence on the quality of products is minimized. At each enterprise of the concern, regardless of which country it is, modern, modernized equipment is installed for the production of products that meet international standards, and each car supplied for sale undergoes the strictest technological control. Even at branches in African and some Asian countries, where it would be much cheaper to use human labor, the German manufacturer refuses this option for solving the problem, preferring, despite the significant financial costs, the release of suitable, reliable and technologically perfect products.

There were precedents when a concern, in favor of supplying quality goods, refused to manufacture certain models if there were complaints from technologists about the quality of the machines produced. For example, in Russia, the Audi Q5 and Q7 models were withdrawn from production due to a decrease in demand for them due to the inconsistency of the quality of the assembled cars. Statistics and user reviews indicate that product quality does not suffer from the indicator of which branch directly produced the Audi car, where the car was assembled, however, exceptions to the rules were still registered. This fact makes potential buyers, when selecting a vehicle, especially a premium category from the range of the Audi concern, to understand where this or that model is assembled.

Pedigree of Audi cars for the domestic market

Some time ago, at the opening of the plant in Kaluga and the start of its operation, the management of the concern planned mass production of Audi products in Russia, which would almost completely meet the needs of domestic buyers, and not only. However, the plans were changed due to the low-quality execution of some copies of the machines: the popular models from the "ku" line of the 5th and 7th versions did not meet the expectations of the consumer, therefore their production in Russia was discontinued. At the present time, the Audi Q5 model for Russia is supplied directly from Germany, and only the plant in Slovakia is engaged in the production of Q7 crossovers. As for the compact, popular model Q3, consumers have no complaints about the quality of its production, they are assembled exclusively in Spain, where production has been established since 2011, workshops are equipped and the manufacturing process is organized at the highest level in accordance with modern technological requirements.

At the plant in Russia, sedans of the A line of the sixth and eighth versions, which are currently popular among domestic consumers, are assembled. There are not very pleasant rumors about the quality of the Audi A6 cars assembled at the Kaluga plant, however, potential buyers should not immediately refuse to purchase this model. At the same time, copies of these versions of cars from Europe are supplied to the domestic market, which makes it possible to make a purchase "without risk", however, the cost of the imported cars will be significantly higher. Manufacturers explain this discrepancy in prices not by the quality indicators of products, but by the increased costs of transporting machines.

A lot of discussions are underway in Russia among consumers on the topic of where the Audi A4 is assembled, which is interesting in terms of acquisition both for “ordinary” people with funds and for premium buyers. The fact is that back in 2013, it was planned to start SKD assembly of these models at the Kaluga plant. These plans never came true, although initially German manufacturers gave the official "go-ahead" for the production of A4 in Russia. The delivery of this model to the domestic market has been established directly from Germany, despite the fact that its assembly is carried out in other branches scattered across the continents. The answer to the question of where the Audi A3 is assembled for Russia is not so unambiguous: cars of this version are produced both in Germany and Belgium, and in China, which requires checking the pedigree of the model before purchasing.

Let's sum up

High-tech, advanced, modern, innovative and reliable - these are all characteristics of cars under the Audi brand, which for many are the subject of dreams, a legend in the automotive industry. Large-scale production of Audi vehicles is established both in Germany, where the central production facilities are located, and around the world. The manufacturer gives official guarantees for all products on sale, assuring the consumer that the location of the assembly branch is not displayed on high-quality and performance indicators products. If, nevertheless, you do not want to become the owner of the legendary Audi of African or Chinese assembly, before purchasing the product, do not be lazy to find out the history of your preferred model by checking the transportation path of a particular car in the dealer company's documentation, or by punching the car using the VIN code when it is purchased on the secondary market.

This will surprise you, but not all.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) AUDI.

Like any other vehicle, Audi's identification system is constantly changing. So, until 1970, the VIN of all Audi models was 9-digit, then up to August 1980, one more digit was added to it. In the identification code of old Audi, the first two digits indicated a specific car model, then the year of manufacture followed, the next digit indicated the manufacturing plant, and finally, the last group of numbers indicated the serial number of the product being produced. Beginning in August 1980 (in fact, this applies to cars of the 1981 model range), the 17-digit VIN-code of Audi takes on a "common European" look. It is knocked out, as a rule, on the panel in front of the windshield inside the engine compartment (in the Audi TT it is covered with a transparent plastic strip), duplicated with a magnetic tape glued to the shock absorber cup, or on the inner surface of the wing. There are differences in the number structure for cars produced for the European market and cars for North America (USA and Canada).

By the way, manufacturers have the right to fill vacant positions with any signs they like. However, some unscrupulous sellers sometimes try to present this designation as a triple galvanized body design.
