Recently, significant changes have taken place in the Russian automotive industry. AvtoVAZ has managed to equip its cars with an automatic gearbox. One of the first models on which an automatic transmission was supplied was the Lada Granta. She received specifications similar to world standards.

A machine gun from Yatko was installed on Granta. The box turned out to be very immune to difficult operating environments. Since last year, the machine has been produced only in a luxury configuration. An inexpensive "robot" was installed on other grants. Visually, a Lada Granta with an automatic transmission does not have any differences from its relative with a manual transmission. But its fuel consumption is higher.

Features of automatic transmission on Grant

The car can accelerate to 100 km in 13.3 seconds. The highest speed it can reach is 173 km / h. For urban conditions and a highway, such characteristics are quite enough.

The main component of control is leverage. It was made in the classic version for cars 20 years ago. The wings, in which each gear was switched in a certain sequence, often provoked difficulties due to driving errors during gear shifting.

Modern ones began to be made in the form of ladders. Such a technical solution made it possible to get rid of these problems. The cable is responsible for shifting. This scheme is quite old, but reliable.

There is a protective system against unauthorized switching on. If the car is moving at speed, then the wrong gear will not engage. The system is controlled by an electronic unit.

There is overheating protection. If the car is used at subzero temperatures, it is better to warm up the engine and automatic transmission by holding the car on the brake with the gear engaged. Failure to do this could create problems. Until the box is warmed up, the torque converter lock-up and transmissions will not start working.

The automatic transmission option is more convenient for many motorists, including beginners.

How often do you need to replace the lubricant in an automatic transmission with a Lada Granta?

According to the manufacturer, in the automatic transmission of this car, an oil change is not needed during the entire life of the car. However, any experienced car owner is unlikely to believe such a statement. After all, it is known that any lubricant can change its own properties over time. It is caused by natural processes. Indeed, in the course of using auto lubricant, it is necessary to withstand temperature drops, as well as the influence of other factors. So a periodic oil change in the automatic transmission Lada Grant is still required. Moreover, it is not difficult to fulfill it.

The resource of the box of this car is approximately 150 thousand km. It is recommended to change the oil every 75 km. It is worth checking the oil level once every 150 km. The automatic transmission is unpretentious to the composition of the oil. But it's better to use original oil, because the settings of the solenoids are sensitive to the composition of the oil.

How to check the amount of oil?

First you will need to start the engine, apply the brake, walk through each gear and turn on the "P" gear. Further, without turning off the engine, it will be necessary to remove the dipstick and check the level: if the gearbox is cold, you need to take advantage of the "COLD" risks. If the box has been warmed up, the designation "HOT" will be needed. These two labels are on opposite sides of the probe. To reach the dipstick, you will need to remove the motor filter housing.

Preparing to change the lubricant

Open the hood and disconnect the battery. Then remove the filter housing. To do this, disconnect the DMRV connector and the adsorber valve connector. The power cable tie will also need to be disconnected from the chassis.

Disconnect the pleated filter. Loosen the clamp first and then remove the corrugation. Then remove the filter housing from the supports. It is better to start with a support, which is located near the center. Disconnect the inlet from the body, remove the box. Before starting the motor, it will need to be mounted.

After that, you can begin to change the grease.

Incomplete replacement or partial

  1. Remove the checkpoint dipstick.
  2. Assemble the structure from tubes with a diameter of 8 mm. Place your hand in the oil addition hole.
  3. Begin to drain the waste fluid into a specially prepared container.
  4. Be sure to measure the amount of drained oil.
  5. Take the funnel and tube. Fill with oil.
  6. Replace the dipstick. Assemble the remaining subassemblies.

After the operations have been carried out, the new transmission will be mixed with the old one. But this will happen only after at least 200 km of run. The partial replacement can be repeated.

As already mentioned, there is nothing wrong with mixing oils for automatic transmissions. But it is better not to make such experiments with the engine.

Complete replacement

Replacing the grease in the gearbox with an automatic machine on the Grant can be carried out in full. There is a plug 2 in the bottom of the crankcase. There is a tube 3 under it; it can be unscrewed with a key “6”.

  1. Unscrew the plug. You will drain about 250 ml of liquid. Place the prepared container, unscrew the tube and drain the remaining oil.
  2. Screw on the tube 3.
  3. Fill in 5 liters of oil through the hole in the dipstick. Excess liquid will come out through the hole at the bottom.
  4. Replace the air filter and dipstick. Start the engine.
  5. The surplus will drain off for some time.
  6. After the process is over, tighten the plug 2.

Automatic transmissions are more sensitive to dust than mechanical ones. This is worth considering. When changing the oil, make sure that all tubes with funnels are clean.

The designers of AvtoVAZ were faced with the task of finding such an automatic transmission for Lada Grant, which would be reliable, inexpensive to operate and fit into the budget of the cheapest VAZ car. The Japanese automatic hydromechanical transmission Jatco JF414E became such an automatic transmission. We will deal with it now.

Many believe that engineers have found an old and unclaimed automatic transmission for Grants, which is fundamentally contrary to reality. Yes, this is not an ultra-modern automatic, but the box went into production only in 2010 and has already managed to show itself perfectly on Nissan Micra, Almera, Geely MK, Datsun ON-Do, ME-Do, as well as on VAZ Grant and Kalina. Jatco JF414E was developed in principle for the domestic Asian market, where it works on many small cars to this day.

Aisin's AW60-40 gearbox was considered as a competitor to the Jatco JF414E 4-speed automatic transmission, but due to its relative high cost, the engineers opted for Jatko. The box is designed for front-wheel drive and to work with motors up to 1.6 liters. It has electronic control gearshift, which controls the valve body and torque converter, solenoids-electric regulators for smooth operation and continuous torque transmission. The resource of the automatic transmission before a complete overhaul is 300-400 thousand km. And this is a very good indicator for a machine in the mini and micro segment.

Breakdowns and problems of the Jatco JF414E automatic transmission

Thanks to the well thought-out design and simplicity of the Jatco JF414E automatic transmission on Lada Granta, it practically does not require maintenance and, if the operating rules are followed, will not cause any problems. Nevertheless, this machine does not like abrupt starts very much and is sensitive to the quality of oils (ATF), does not react well to overheating and driving at high speeds. A number of design issues were also noted: Automatic transmission is sensitive to voltage drops in on-board network, the valve body control board may fail, for example, if the engine is ignited incorrectly. At the beginning of production, the first machines suffered from the failure of one of the needle bearings between the hydraulic pump hub and the High package, but by 2013 the Japanese won over this nuisance. If you do not install an external fine filter, after 180-220 thousand mileage, clutch wear products can affect the life of the solenoids. Installing such a filter on Grants with strong mileage will significantly increase the resource of the automatic transmission, since it is installed outside the box, it is always available and you can quickly clean it or change the filter element.

When to change the oil in an automatic transmission on a Lada Granta

Despite AvtoVAZ's instructions that the oil in the gearbox lasts forever, this should not be taken as an axiom. The manufacturer of the box, Jatco, clearly says that a complete oil change is necessary already at a mileage of 80-85 thousand km, and a partial change must be performed twice as often, after 30-40 thousand kilometers. The oil change schedule depends on the operating conditions and if it is not possible to carry out a complete replacement, then the partial ones can greatly increase the gearbox resource. The volume of oil in the Jatco JF414E automatic transmission on the Lada Granta is 5.4 liters, and with partial replacement it is possible to drain no more than 3 liters of liquid.

Checking the oil level in the automatic transmission Grant

To check the oil level, a dipstick is used and to get to it, the easiest way is to move the body to the side air filter... Using the dipstick, you can check not only the level, but also the condition of the oil. It is recommended to check it every two to three months or more often. The procedure for checking the oil level in the Jatco JF414E machine is as follows: 1 ... We start and warm up the engine. 2 ... Press the brake all the way. 3 ... Turn on alternately each of the modes with the selector. 4 ... We put the selector in neutral. 5 ... When running on idle motor, check the oil level with a dipstick.

In the case when the engine is not warmed up to operating temperature, we focus on the COOL notch, if the engine is hot, we look at the HOT risk. The level must be between the maximum and minimum marks for each of the ATF states. If necessary, add oil according to the manufacturer's instructions.

What kind of oil to fill in automatic transmission Jatco JF414E Lada Granta

As directed by Jatco, optimal oil for the box, the Nissan ATF Matic-S 999MP-MTS00-P is considered. In addition to it, the use of such synthetic fluids is allowed: Genuine EJ-1 ATF; Petro-Canada ATF D3M; DURADRIVE MV SYNTHETIC ATF; and other analogs with Dexron VI approval. It should be borne in mind that the use of mineral oils Matic-D is not allowed, only Matic-S or Matic-J counterparts.

The process of changing the oil in the automatic transmission Lada Granta

To work, you will need the following set of spare parts: Automatic transmission oil. In this matter, everyone chooses based on their own considerations, many pour "Nissan". You need to take oil with a margin, you will need at least 5 liters; Automatic transmission pan gasket (code 31397 3MX0A); Copper washer (code 1102601M02); Automatic transmission filter (code 31728 3MX0A). It is desirable to change it, although many people just get by by flushing it, and some do not touch it at all, it all depends on the mileage. From the tool you must have: Container for draining old oil; A watering can and several pieces of hose; Lots of rags that do not leave lint; Key to "19", "10" and hex to "5"; Observation pit or lift. 1 ... We open the hood. 2 ... We loosen the clamp that secures the hose to the air filter.

3 ... We loosen the adsorber valve hose, which is attached to the large pipe from which the clamp has just been loosened and remove the adsorber from the air filter housing by simply pulling it up. Approximately as in the photo.

4 ... We remove the supply air supply pipe to the filter as in the photo.

5 ... And without disconnecting any sensors, we take the air filter housing to the side, approximately, like in my photo.

The first part of the preparation is over. I deliberately did not disconnect any sensors, since during the replacement process we will have to start the car. 6 ... We remove additional protection, if any. 7 ... We remove the plastic apron and place it in the direction of the driver's wheel, I apologize for not taking a photo, but something like this should be done. It's just that you just completely remove the hemorrhoid, and even unnecessarily.

The second part of the preparation is over. We now have good access to the entire box. 8 ... An obligatory item is a smoke break or just a break and inspection of all that has been done. 9 ... We take a container to drain the oil and simply drain the oil through the drain hole. In general, there is a bolt, you cannot help but see it, it is with a paronite gasket. Approximately 0.5 liters will be drained.

10 ... We close the drain hole, bolt back. 11 ... Fill in about 0.5 - 0.6 liters. Oil into the filler hole (dipstick hole). You will need a funnel with an extension cord.

12 ... Disconnect the return hose from the box, it will merge a little more. 13 ... We build up the return hose in any of the available ways. 14 ... We put on the fitting from the box, from which the return hose has just been removed, a previously prepared spare hose. 15 ... We send the whole thing to a container for draining the oil.

16 ... We ask the assistant to start the car in neutral and carefully look at the color of the oil that will pour under slight pressure from the hose attached to the box fitting. As soon as the color of the oil became a little lighter, we shout to the assistant: "Turn off the engine!" (after about 7-10 seconds, light oil should go) Another 2.5 - 3 liters will be drained. 17 ... We put the return hose in place.

18 ... Unscrew the drain bolt again and put it aside, a drop will merge again. 19 ... We remove the pallet. The head is 10, all the bolts of the pallet are the same. It is better to pre-clean with a soft brush and spray with a VDshka or something similar. ATTENTION there will be a little oil in the pan, and there will be it in the oil drain container. 20 ... We remove the filter, the head is 10, but here it is MANDATORY to remember which bolt in which place, they are of different lengths.

21 ... We clean the pan, magnets and filter. I used brake cleaner and a rag. 22 ... We put back the filter and the pan. We tighten the bolts very carefully and carefully so as not to disrupt the thread. We tighten the drain plug. 23 ... We measure how much oil has merged and we fill it boldly as much, WE DO NOT FORGET TO RECOGNIZE THE PREVIOUSLY FILLED 0.5 - 0.6 L. 24 ... WE START AND RUN THE TRANSMISSION BOX WITH A DELAY OF EVERY SECOND BY 10. 25 ... We warm up the car to operating temperature. 26 ... We run the box a couple more times. 27 ... Without turning off the car and in neutral gear, we check the oil level (on the dipstick there is a "HOT" scale) 29 ... Top up if necessary, turn off the engine and top up in portions of 100-200 ml. We start and again run through the gears and check. ATTENTION the oil will be transparent, we look carefully at the dipstick. 30 ... As the level is at the minimum or preferably slightly above the minimum, put the air filter back, a plastic apron, protection and ride for about 10 km. 31 ... Then we check the level again, also pushing the filter to the side, otherwise I honestly have no idea how to get to the probe. 32 ... If necessary, top up, also in portions of 100-200 ml. 33 ... My level on a warm car is slightly above the middle between the minimum and maximum. It took me three cans and 600 ml for everything. Why is it so, but because the canisters are not 1 liter, but 946 ml. Well, you can say 3.5 liters. Rough. All smooth roads, if something is not clear, we do not hesitate to ask.

It should be borne in mind that the use of mineral oils Matic-D is not allowed, only analogues Matic-S or Matic-J .

How to change the oil in an automatic transmission Lada Granta Jatco JF414E

For replace ATF in the automatic transmission Lada Granta, we need a standard set of tools, about 5 liters of oil, a funnel, a hose of a suitable diameter and a container for draining the mining. The work will be carried out either on a lift or on a viewing pit. Before starting the replacement, the air filter can be removed, or, without disconnecting the sensors, you can disconnect the air duct and move it aside. Oil is poured into the dipstick hole, so we select a hose of exactly this diameter. We carry out the work in this order.

Lada Kalina cars of the second group are equipped with mechanical or. Regardless of the type of construction, gearboxes for LADA Kalina characterized by high quality and, at correct operation, do not cause trouble for drivers. Automakers declare that there is no need for a mandatory oil change in manual transmissions and automatic transmissions during the operating period. But, as practice shows, such a need exists. Full or Lada Granta has to be carried out after a run of 75,000 km.

Design features of automatic transmission Jatco

A four-speed automatic machine (AY-K3) is installed on a Lada Granta car. The characteristics of the new car are as close as possible to world standards. The Lada Granta gearbox is equipped with a reliable hydraulic unit.

The technical capabilities and operational properties of this automatic transmission are excellent for modern machines domestic production. The gearbox is protected from overheating, reliable protection is triggered when it reaches + 114 ° С. Sensor readings below this parameter are considered normal for further movement. Grant's gearbox is controlled by an ECU.

The main purpose of lubricants for automatic transmission

The condition of road surfaces on highways in Russia is not of high quality, therefore, when traveling on Grant on our roads, you will have to change the oil in the gearbox much more often.

  • volume reduction lubricating fluid in the crankcase;
  • increased lubricant wear;
  • clogged oil filter.

Before checking the fluid level, you need to:

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Apply the brake.
  3. Engage each gear alternately.
  4. With the engine running, check the lubricant level with a dipstick.

If the oil in the system is cold, you need to look at the risk of "COLD", when warming up - "HOT", respectively. These labels are located on the dipstick on different sides.

Tip: the dipstick will be accessible after removing the air filter housing.

The automatic transmission oil level is checked at intervals of one and a half to two months. If the volume of oil has decreased sharply, you need to add the required amount of lubricant to the box.

Lada Granta machine oil

Automakers provide clear guidelines for selection lubricant for each specific vehicle. To understand which oil to buy for the automatic transmission of your Lada Grant, the owner of the car needs to carefully study service book... It also indicates how many liters of oil you need to purchase to fill the full volume of the tank.

Most often, for an automatic Grant box, the manufacturer recommends Genuine EJ-1 or Nissan ATF Matic-S oil.

Tools for changing the oil in the automatic transmission Lada Granta

If as a result of the check it turns out that transmission oil has lost its useful properties, it is recommended to contact the nearest service center... Experienced drivers themselves carry out a partial or complete oil change in a garage.

The process of changing the Lada Granta oil is not much different from the standard operation for other automatic transmissions. To begin with, you should prepare a basic set of improvised tools and other devices:

  • wrenches for 10, 16, 19;
  • polyhedron by 6;
  • a special container for draining used oil;
  • funnel;
  • an elongated elastic hose of the corresponding diameter for the filler hole;
  • rags of suitable quality (lint-free) Change the oil in automatic box can be partial or complete. It all depends on the results of the preliminary check.

Features of partial and complete oil change in the automatic transmission of Grant

In contrast, in the automatic transmission it is allowed to partially change the lubricating fluid. As a result of this operation, the oil in the automatic transmission Lada Grant is mixed with the existing solution. After passing 200 km, it can be argued that the new portion of oil has completely dissolved in the base composition.

A complete oil change in the automatic transmission in Lada Granta is carried out in the following order:

  1. Open the hood, disconnect the battery.
  2. Remove the air filter housing assembly.
  3. Unscrew the pallet plug (key 6).
  4. Drain some of the oil into a prepared bowl.
  5. Insert the tube, drain the remaining liquid, tighten.
  6. Fill in new oil (5 liters) through a funnel tube inserted into the filler hole.
  7. Excess oil will drain out through the inspection hole at the bottom.
  8. Clean the magnets in the pallet.
  9. Reinstall the air filter housing.
  10. Turn on the engine.
  11. Wait for excess grease to drain off.
  12. Finally tighten the plug.

Grant's gearbox oil change is complete.

When changing the Grant automatic transmission oil, one should take into account the features of the automatic transmission device in comparison with the mechanical one. Here, dust and other foreign particles must not enter the common system boxes. Before carrying out this event, it is necessary to thoroughly clean funnels, watering cans, pipes and other devices from the remains of old oil, dirt, etc.

During the oil change, the temperature in the system should not exceed 45 ° C. This procedure is allowed to be carried out "cold", while the efficiency is not significantly reduced. The drained heated oil takes up a larger volume compared to the new product. Therefore, before pouring, it is recommended to warm it up to the required temperature.

A 5.4 liter fluid is placed in the automatic transmission crankcase. In case of incomplete replacement, at least three liters of oil are used.

Everyone knows that the oil change in the automatic transmission Lada Granta is made only at the service. And in general, such a replacement is not required according to the regulations, since the service interval is 100 thousand km. But changing the oil in an automatic transmission will not be more difficult than for a car with "mechanics". The problem is that it will not be possible to control the level, although a probe for control is provided in the design of the "machine".

The volume of the drained oil can be estimated from the video.

Design features of the Jatco gearbox

We are talking about an automatic transmission installed on Lada cars. The automatic transmission has a dipstick that allows you to control the oil level. But the control is carried out when the engine is running, and it will be impossible to get to the probe without removing the filter.

This probe is even more convenient than on the manual gearbox

Consider that only the plug is installed instead of the dipstick. In fact, many have it - if you remove the filter, you can see the "plug", not the probe.

Checking the oil level in the automatic transmission on the Lada Granta

Consider how to check the oil level in the automatic transmission Lada Grants, acting according to the rules:

Both labels are on opposite sides of the stylus. But to get to it, you need to remove the engine air filter housing.

Preparation for partial or complete replacement

Open the hood and disconnect the battery (key "10", terminal "minus"). Then we remove the filter housing:

  1. Disconnect the DMRV connector (oval), as well as the adsorber valve connector (small plastic). We also disconnect the power cable tie from the case;

    Two connectors and one cable tie

  2. The corrugation and the filter must be disconnected: loosen the clamp, remove the corrugation;

    The corrugation is pulled from the socket on the body

  3. The filter housing must be removed from the supports - start with the front support closer to the center;
  4. The supply pipe is disconnected from the body. Then the box is removed, and it will be necessary to mount it before starting the engine.

    Don't forget about the spigot

Now, when there are no extra parts, changing the oil in the automatic transmission of Lada Grants can be done quickly.

Partial replacement

Remember to return the dipstick to its rightful place. Assemble the remaining subassemblies.

After all the actions, the old oil in the automatic transmission will mix with the new one. But this process will end after 100-200 km of run. The "partial replacement" is then repeated and a total of 3-4 liters of "old" material will be replaced.

Complete oil change in automatic transmission on Lada Granta

You can completely change the oil in the automatic transmission Lada Grants. From below, plug 2 is screwed into the crankcase (key "19"). Under it there is a tube 3, which is unscrewed with a hexagon "by 6".

Two plugs at one point

The algorithm will be simple:

Of course, the car itself is placed on an overpass (pit).

  • Automatic transmission is more sensitive to dust than any "mechanic". This must be remembered, even when changing the oil in the automatic transmission of Lada Grants. All funnels and tubes must be perfectly clean.
  • It is not necessary to raise the temperature of the box too much. The optimum is 45 degrees, but in general, if we are talking about "automatic", you can replace "cold". But for greater efficiency, the box is "heated", and then the "new" oil must also be heated.
  • When measuring the volume of the drained liquid, take into account the temperature - the heated liquid expands.

Material selection

Recall that with a partial replacement, it takes up to three liters of oil, but in general the crankcase holds 5.1 liters. "Old" material is mixed with "new", and there are only two options to choose from:

  • Nissan ATF Matic-S;
  • Genuine EJ-1 ATF.

Jatco itself uses the second option.
