Design

You just have to look at the photo and it immediately becomes clear that the designers have made a simply gorgeous car. In real life, the model looks even more attractive than in a photo or video.

The muzzle received a long hood, which drivers sometimes complain about, they say that it interferes with front visibility. A narrow, beautiful optics with LED filling is used here, it looks really cool. The manufacturer installed here just a huge grille and an equally huge company logo. Both motors are bi-turbocharged and have a volume of 4 liters. This is a V-shaped V8 engine. The first engine produces 462 horses, and the second 510 Horse power... A couple of these engine systems were taken from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The dynamic performance of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT was achieved not only with great power, but also with a good transmission. This is a 7-speed robotic box gear shifting with double clutch, it is an improvement of the transmission from the previous model.

History

They did not think about the name for a long time - they just took the first letters of the names of the founders of this bureau and the city. That is why AMG today occupy the first places in the ratings of the best, highest quality and most popular cars.

Today the AMG brand is known to people all over the world. It can often be found on business and premium models. However, not everyone knows about the history and technology of this unit. This is what will be discussed in this article.

History

The AMG brand was created over 45 years ago by two engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in the village of Großapach. The beginning of the brand dates back to the 60s. During this time, Aufrecht and Melcher were developing a special 300 SE racing engine in the Daimler design department. Despite the suspension of the concern's participation in motor sports, engineers continued to work on this engine. The scene of action was the Aufrecht house in Grossapach. In 1965, their Daimler-Benz colleague Manfred Schick starts the German Touring Car Championship driving a car with a 300 SE engine. Modified by Azfrecht and Melcher, the engine brings ten victories to Schick. Later, the fame of real professionals in the field of modernization and improvement of Mercedes-Benz cars comes to them.

In 1967 they open the AMG engineering office. An old mill in Burgstall became the headquarters of the company. After a short period of time, the demand for engines begins to grow, which are undergoing revision and an increase in power. Various racing teams become their purchasers.

The victory in the 24-hour race at Spa marks the first major milestone in the company's history. Winning its own class, as well as second place in the overall standings - all this was ensured by the AMG Mercedes car, equipped with the 300 SEL 6.8 engine. Rolling arches

You can recognize the "evil" performance of the off-road vehicle by the standard set of AMG gadgets: an aggressive body kit with aerodynamic elements, a quartet of exhaust pipes integrated into a black diffuser, and original light-alloy wheels with a diameter of 20 or 21 inches.

In terms of the outer dimensions of the body, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 repeats its "civilian counterpart": length - 4819 mm, height - 1796 mm, width - 1935 mm, wheelbase - 2915 mm.

Inside, the "charged" crossover differs from the base model only in details - a sporty steering wheel truncated at the bottom, tenacious seats with developed lateral support, an updated instrument cluster, AMG logos and pedal pads made of stainless steel.

The rest of the cars are identical - the "family" design, expensive finishing materials, a five-seater cabin configuration and a 690-liter cargo hold, increasing to 2010 liters.

Specifications. The main "highlight" of the Mercedes AMG GLE 63 is hidden under the hood - it is a 5.5-liter V-shaped eight-cylinder unit with two turbochargers and a direct injection system, which produces 558 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 700 Nm of peak thrust at 1750-5500 rpm / minute.
On the S-version of the "charged" crossover, the engine output is increased to 585 "horses" at 5500 rpm and 760 Nm at 1750-5250 rpm. In both cases, the motor is assisted by a 7-speed "automatic" and an all-wheel drive transmission with an asymmetric torque distribution (60% goes forward, and 40% back).

The AMG version of the GLE 63 spins to the first "hundred" in 4.3 seconds, and the GLE 63 S - 0.1 seconds faster. "Maximum speed" and fuel "appetite" are the same in both cases - 250 km / h and 11.8 liters in mixed driving conditions.

In addition, there is a "transitional" modification in the model lineup - a "heated" GLE 450 AMG 4Matic (externally and internally it is similar to the aforementioned "monsters"), equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with bi-turbocharging, in the arsenal of which there are 367 "horses "At 5500-6000 rpm and 520 Nm at 2000-4200 rpm. Such a crossover is equipped with a 9-band 9G-Tronic and an unbalanced four-wheel drive... It needs 5.7 seconds to accelerate from zero to "hundreds", the peak of its capabilities is at 250 km / h, and the fuel consumption does not exceed 9.4 liters.

Structurally, the "hot" modifications of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and GLE 63 S differ little from the standard crossover: independent suspension of both axles with pneumatic elements and adaptive electric power steering (but only with sporty settings). The car is complete braking system increased power with ventilated and perforated discs "in a circle" (front diameter - 390 mm, rear - 345 mm).

Options and prices. Russian dealers of Mercedes-Benz for the GLE 63 version ask a minimum of 6,990,000 rubles, and for the "hot" S-version - 700,000 rubles more.
