The manufacturer does not provide for periodic oil changes at specified intervals. That is, the lubricant poured into the vehicle's manual transmission at the factory is designed for the entire service life of the unit. But there are many situations in which you cannot do without replacement, and driving in our conditions sometimes forces this procedure to be carried out in all units of the car. The question of how to properly change the oil in the Renault Logan gearbox is worth considering in more detail.

When to change and what to fill

During the operation of the car, situations inevitably arise when the failure of any part forces the entire unit or assembly to be disassembled. No exception and manual gearbox Renault Logan, which may require revision, for example, due to the difficulty of shifting gears. Then, when removing it and bulkhead, you will have to drain the old oil and fill in new one. Here is a list of specific reasons for replacement:

  1. Depressurization of the stuffing box and the appearance of a grease leak.
  2. Wear and cracks in rubber boot left axle grenades. Through them, water and dust get into the grenade mechanism, and then into the checkpoint. The lubricant will quickly lose its properties, then the gearbox repair is inevitable.
  3. Malfunctions of the breather (air valve) of the manual transmission sometimes also lead to clogging of the lubricant, although this does not manifest itself immediately.
  4. Any repair of the checkpoint, providing for its removal or disassembly.

It often happens that major malfunctions occur for minor reasons, and therefore it is necessary to constantly check all anthers, seals and breathers. Otherwise, a major gearbox repair will definitely await you later. In addition, our vehicle operating conditions are difficult due to the condition of the roads. This means that all units, including the Renault Logan manual transmission, experience increased loads and wear out faster.

To maximize the life of the unit, you need to periodically change the oil in the gearbox, regardless of factory recommendations. It is better to carry out the procedure 1 time per 30 thousand kilometers. But the recommendation about which oil in the Renault box should be purchased must be followed. This is a "native" grease used by the manufacturer: ELF TRANSELF NFJ viscosity grade 75W-80.

Preparation for work

Since we are talking about changing the oil with our own hands, the most convenient place for the operation is an inspection pit in the garage or an overpass. It will be problematic to carry out work on an ordinary flat area: it is very difficult to get to filler neck... As for the tool, the very minimum will be required, because there are special necks to change the lubricant, and you will not be threatened with removing the gearbox. So, you need to prepare:

  • an 8 mm wrench in the form of a square, so the crankcase plug is unscrewed;
  • pliers;
  • steel bristle brush;
  • wide container for working off, you can cut in half an old plastic canister;
  • a hose with a hermetically attached funnel;
  • a new gasket for the drain plug;
  • rags and rubber gloves.

Many experts advise, for convenience, to dismantle the oil sump protection, so that a set of spanner wrenches can be added to the above list. It also does not hurt to arrange good lighting inside the inspection pit by extending there a carrier with a lamp suspended on a hook.

There is one thing in common between the gearboxes of all cars: they are filled with high-viscosity grease. In order to efficiently drain the old oil, it is better to warm it up and give it a liquid consistency. To do this, before putting Logan in the pit, you need to drive 3-5 km by car so that the oil in it can warm up and gain good fluidity.

Procedure for the procedure

Place your Renault Logan in the viewing pit with a slight offset to the right. The drain neck is located on the left, and in this position, the car will be more convenient to work. Place shoes under one of the wheels of the machine, or simply fix it hand brake... Taking a metal brush, clean the drain plug from dirt, it is located slightly to the left of the engine crankcase, between it and the left wheel. If the protection of the oil pan interferes, then first remove it.

Next, loosen the plug with a square wrench and substitute a container designed for old grease. At the last stage, the plug is turned inside out manually and with a sharp movement is removed from the jet of oil (this is why rubber gloves are needed). Place the canister securely under the stream and move to filler plug, which must also be unscrewed for better flowing out of mining. She is on front side Manual transmission, from the front of the car.

This plug is designed to be unscrewed by hand, for which special projections are made on it. Brush it off any dirt and try to loosen and unscrew. If it fails manually, then use pliers. There should be a rubber ring on the plug, inspect its condition and replace if necessary. Now all that remains is to wait for all the mining to flow into the canister. The last stage of changing the oil in the Renault Logan manual transmission - filling and reassembling - is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. Place a new washer on the drain plug and tighten it lightly with a wrench.
  2. Take a hose with a funnel and insert its end into the filler hole, passing it between the radiator and the car engine.
  3. Slowly fill the gearbox with about 3 liters of new oil, checking the filling process at the filler hole.
  4. As soon as oil flows from there, remove the hose and tighten the plug. Hand tighten.
  5. Reinstall the oil sump guard.

Please note that when pulling out the hose, allow excess oil to drain off by substituting the same or another container.

Excessive pressure of lubricant inside the box is useless, as it can cause it to leak through the seals. And the last point: before changing the oil due to contamination, you must first eliminate the cause of this phenomenon - change a cracked boot or a leaking oil seal.

One of the most popular foreign cars on the domestic market is Renault logan... The excellent ratio of price, quality, economy and relative cheapness of maintenance allowed these cars to win the universal love of our fellow citizens. Therefore, questions regarding the nuances of maintenance and repair of Renault Logan are increasingly of interest to many motorists. After reading this article, you will learn how to choose and change the oil in the gearbox of the specified model, and you can quickly and easily check the lubricant level.

What oil to choose for Renault Logan

Changing the oil in Renault Logan will not be difficult, but before performing this action, you must choose the right replacement fluid.

First of all, the type of gearbox is taken into account: mechanical or automatic. So, to change the oil in the manual transmission, the manufacturer recommends using a branded, transmission semi-synthetic oil ELF Tranself NFJ 75W80 or synthetics 75W90 (the volume required for replacement is 3.5 liters), while for filling the automatic box it is better to choose ELF Renaultmatic D3 Syn (for complete replacement 4 liters will suffice).

Nevertheless, it should be noted that many experienced motorists, from their own experience, have identified other leaders among transmission oils. For quality and technical specifications they are in no way inferior to the fluids recommended by the Renault factory.

In particular, according to reviews of a large number of motorists, synthetic oil Casrtol Syntrans Transaxle 75W-90- this is best analogue of a kind. With its presence, gear changes are much smoother, and when engaged reverse gear the characteristic crunch disappears.

To change the oil in gearbox Renault Logan can also be used and MOTUL GEAR 300 75 W-90, which, like the previous version, contributes to smooth gear shifting and the absence of any extraneous noise.

Among the lubricants that ended up in the last places, the owners of Renault Logan singled out SHELL Getriebeoil EP 75w90 GL4, which, judging by the dissatisfied comments of users of various forums, paired with transmission oil from the automaker, begins to behave very ambiguously. In most cases, hum, crunch and noise can be observed in the gearbox.

It is likely that there are some other good alternatives to oil in Renault Logan, but you can only check this by trial and error, pouring more and more compounds into the gearbox of your car.

Interesting to know!The first car assembled by Louis Renault in 1898 was a small wagon with a capacity of only 0.75 hp. Even at a time when the car was considered more of a sporting device, Renault's development did not correspond to this status in any way. Nevertheless, the Renault brothers were not upset, because, in their opinion, a light car with a high level of maneuverability and a small engine should develop much higher speed than heavy and awkward structures. After some time, having won many competitions in three years, they still proved to everyone the correctness of their philosophical thought.

There is an opinion among car owners that only the oil in the Renault Logan engine should be changed on a regular basis, since lubricating fluid in the gearbox does not need service replacement and is designed for the entire service life of the gearbox. Nevertheless, in some situations (for example, when the transmission elements are being repaired), it is better to replace the oil.

The most common reason for this is a leak in the stuffing box, which lowers the fluid level in the transfer box. In this case, the oil is changed together with the oil seal, since it is too difficult to choose a lubricant that is identical to the factory version. In addition, there is always the possibility of incompatibility. original oil and the one that you plan to add to the checkpoint.

The reason for the replacement transmission fluid poor gear shifting, accompanied by a grinding noise, can also become. In such situations, the car reacts a little belatedly to the driver's commands.

Despite the fact that the manufacturing plant has not set any deadlines for the replacement transmission oil Renault Logan cars, experienced specialists service centers, engaged in the repair and maintenance of Renault models, advise to change the lubricant in the gearbox through every 60,000-100,000 kilometers(the difference depends on the conditions and time of operation vehicle).

How to determine the amount of oil in the box

Often, instead of completely replacing the gearbox grease in Renault Logan, all you need to do is add lubricant, for which you need to know how much oil is still in the box.

In the case of mechanical transfer box, you can determine this using the control hole located on it. It is located in front of the gearbox housing and is closed with a plastic plug.

The check should be carried out on a horizontally located vehicle, at each technical inspection, as well as in cases where there is even the slightest suspicion of an oil leak.

To carry out diagnostics, simply unscrew the plug, after wiping it off with a clean cloth, and look at the oil level, which should be at the very edge of the inspection hole. The easiest way is to place your finger in the hole.

Note!If there is not enough oil, it must be topped up, otherwise the gearbox operation will be unstable.

You can add oil using a syringe or hoses with a funnel.

How to replace, checklist and required tool

Having figured out which oil is better to fill in the automatic transmission or manual transmission Renault Logan, you can buy the selected option and feel free to proceed to the replacement stage.

However, before performing this action it is recommended to warm up well and mix the liquid already in the box, a little trip around the area will help you. Thus, all dirt particles and suspended impurities are almost completely removed from the gearbox.

In addition, at the preliminary stage, all the tools necessary for the work should be prepared:

  • socket wrench or 10 mm head,
  • square wrench with 8 mm edge,
  • pliers,
  • a carrier for local lighting,
  • metal brush
  • free container for used oil
  • blower (or funnel) with a hose of about 0.5 mm.
Also you may need and new gasket under the drain plug of the transfer box.

Considering that special car lifts for performing self replacement oils are rarely available at home, it is more convenient alternative option is the usual observation pit.

Attention!The gearbox drain plug is located on the left side of the engine compartment in the direction of the vehicle, therefore, for more convenient operation, the machine should be slightly shifted to the right relative to the inspection hole.

To avoid injuries and burns that sometimes happen when changing the gear oil, you must adhere to the safety requirements:

Having fulfilled all the specified requirements and having prepared the necessary tools, you can proceed to the gearbox oil change itself in Renault Logan. The entire replacement procedure involves performing a number of sequential actions:

That's all. As you can see, pouring oil into the Renault Logan gearbox was not so difficult.

Did you know?Renault Logan is the cheapest European car available on the Ukrainian market ($ 11 400), which allowed it to take the third place in the rating of the most budget cars in the country. Despite this, the car has a fairly solid clearance - 175 mm. and one of the most roomy luggage racks in its class - 510 liters.

Essence of the question: the manual does not indicate how much oil is needed to change the gearbox, can you tell me?

Guys, hello everyone. Finally a vacation, and finally I meet him at home! The weather is good, the construction of the garage is almost finished, it is necessary to test the hole, especially since the mileage of my Logan is under 110,000 km. Standard work is clear, sort out the bones in the front suspension after the winter.

Here is my "modest" run, I want to note that during all this time, there were no special problems

I am thinking of changing the gearbox oil. Although there are no particular symptoms, the reverse speed is turned on with effort, I specifically rode another Logan in the garage to check it, it is softer there. Still on the cold box, howls.

So, I opened the service manual for Logan and did not find a word about replacing the oil in the box. That is, the manufacturer does not regulate the oil change period in any way or does it think that it is eternal?

First of all, keep in mind that the type of oil and its amount for different types of boxes are different, they have different name, purpose, they are not interchangeable and have completely different properties. Therefore, never try to mix or confuse them.

Now let's answer your other question: "How much transmission oil should be used to replace it in the gearbox"!

When to change the oil in the manual transmission

Types of checkpoint on Renault Logan

On cars of the Logan family, there are two types of transmission, mechanics and automatic.

If you are the owner of a Logan on a "handle", then in the store you will have to buy about 3.5 liters of oil, if you are the owner of a car "with two pedals (automatic transmission)", then at least 4.

Symptoms indicating the need to change the oil in the gearbox

The above symptoms indicate that a gearbox oil change may be required. The key phrase "may be required" means that one of the options is precisely the breakdown of the box itself (failure of synchronizers, etc.). But, even in such a situation, changing the oil can lead to good results and extend the life of the vehicle.

Many are interested in whether an oil change in a Renault Logan gearbox is needed and how it is carried out. Motor lubrication necessary to reduce the frictional force between parts car engine... The lubricant must be changed both in the gearbox and power unit... An oil change in the Renault Logan gearbox itself is necessary to prevent wear of parts. This procedure will protect the car from replacing the damaged gearbox.

When to change the oil in the box?

According to technical regulations Renault Logan gearbox oil change is not required. It is believed that there should be enough lubricant in the gearbox for the entire life of the machine. However, car repair specialists recommend replacing it every 80-90 thousand km. For some cars, it is better to reduce this period to 30-40 thousand.

This is necessary to keep the transmission in good working order. The period after which a lubricant change is required is influenced by various factors. These include the intensity of vehicle use, the age of the vehicle and the number of engine revolutions. In addition, you need to decide on the lubricant. If you know what is flooded at the checkpoint, there will be no problems.

Replace the lubricant with a similar one. If there is no such information, then the choice depends on financial capabilities. An oil change can be carried out in a car service. Professional craftsmen will perform this procedure quickly and efficiently. However, you can also replace the lubricant with your own hands. The procedure takes about half an hour. It is quite easy to do this, so it is not necessary to contact the service.

Stages of oil change in manual transmission Renault Logan

It is important to remember that, if possible, it should be the same brand as the used one. After completing all the manipulations, you can start assembling the unscrewed parts. It is necessary to return to its place and secure the crankcase protection.

A filler with a hose is used to fill in new grease.

Transmission oils for quality replacement

Modern car oils are divided into mineral, semi-synthetic and synthetic. Mineral gear lubricants are used in gearboxes with low rpm. Friction in them is low, and the engine operates within 2-3 thousand revolutions per minute. It is necessary to change such a lubricant every 30-40 thousand kilometers. This is necessary due to the fact that mineral lubricants quickly lose their original properties.

Such lubricants are not very expensive. are used for gearboxes with high turnover(about 3-4 thousand per minute) in vehicles with a high load. These lubricants contain special chemical additives. They reduce friction between parts of the gearbox and also protect against corrosion.

Semi-synthetic oils cover gears and parts with a resistant film. Replacement of such a lubricant must be carried out every 40-50 thousand kilometers. Their cost is much lower than synthetic ones. Transmission oil is also used for automatic transmissions. It contains a huge amount of special additives. These additives help prevent corrosion and wear on engine and transmission parts.

In addition, additives reduce stresses. Synthetic oil in the checkpoint can be applied for some mechanical boxes gear. The cost of such a lubricant is quite high, but it is worth it. Change given lubricant in manual transmission you need every 60-70 thousand km of run, and in automatic transmission - every 50 thousand. There is no definite answer to the question after how many km of run it is necessary to change the lubricant.

It is necessary to compare all factors: the age of the car, the period and frequency of its operation, as well as the number of engine revolutions. It is important to remember that the lubricant protects parts from wear and corrosion. Timely replacement of the lubricant will extend the operating time of the vehicle and save the gearbox from costly repairs.

The choice of transmission lubricant must also be taken responsibly. The service life of your vehicle depends on which lubricant you choose. At the right choice transmission oil, the machine will serve for a long time and trouble-free.

Each unit, be it an engine, a gearbox or a power steering, requires constant lubrication control. And for each node there is a certain minimum and maximum limit for the amount of oil, water, cooling or brake fluid.

Below will be considered separately each of the components and assemblies of the Renault Logan car.

How much oil to fill in the Renault Logan engine

Since Renault Logan cars were installed Various types engines, then the filling volumes for each of them will be different:

  1. For 1.6 and 1.4 8-valve - 3.3 liters
  2. For 1.6 16-valve - 4.9 liters

How much oil to fill in Renault Logan gearbox

Since the gearboxes on all cars did not differ, that is, they were the same on both 8 and 16 valve engines, the filling volumes will be identical.

For the gearbox housing, the required transmission oil level should be about 3.1 liters. It is impossible to check the level on the dipstick due to its absence. But there is another way - unscrew the filler plug and the oil should be at the lower edge. That is, it is simply impossible to fill above the level in this case - all excess will flow out through the filling hole.

How much antifreeze or antifreeze is contained in the engine cooling system

The liquid level in the cooling system must be monitored first of all! If the antifreeze leaves, and during this you do not notice, you can overheat the engine with all the ensuing consequences. Therefore, do not be lazy to open the hood once again and make sure of the required level of antifreeze in the expansion tank.

It should be between the minimum and maximum marks. You can clearly see the approximate coolant level in the photo below.

As for the entire Renault Logan cooling system, it holds about 5.45 liters of coolant. Topping up should be done only with the recommended type of coolant for your car, and also taking into account the liquid already filled.

How much brake fluid is in the system

If the level of the brake fluid is insufficient, the braking efficiency may decrease, since the appearance of air in the system is possible. When the brake pedal is pressed sharply (in cases of emergency braking), the fluid level in the reservoir drops sharply, and in the absence of the required volume, the wheels of the car cannot be blocked properly.

That is why the level should always be at the maximum mark.

How much gasoline is in the fuel tank

The Renault Logan gas tank holds 50 liters of fuel. When the lamp of insufficient fuel level in the tank lights up, the remaining gasoline is about 6-7 liters.
