The Russian motorcycle club "Night Wolves" was founded in 1989. Initially, it consisted of no more than 15 people who, on motorcycles, provided protection for rock musicians from the so-called "Lyuber". Gradually, the club grew, began to hold large-scale openings and closings of motorcycle seasons, incredible for that time, rock concerts and bike parties. By 2007, the club began to consolidate a rigid vertical of power, subordination to the charter and leadership in the person of Alexander "Surgeon" Zaldostanov.

Despite the fact that bikers all over the world have a reputation for hooligans, far from politics and public life, in Russia there is an absolutely opposite situation. The main biker "Surgeon" is a holder of the Order of Honor, is a member of the board of directors of the propaganda TV channel "Zvezda" and is actively involved in the anti-Ukrainian movement.

Clubs that belong to the MG - MotoGang formation traditionally cannot communicate with the authorities directly, do not accept monetary subsidies from them, and do not belong to political parties. The "night wolves" are under the direct patronage of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Surgeon's interviews are full of phrases testifying to their loyalty to the president: "I will do everything so that no creature can touch the president" or "For me, the president of Russia is the guarantor of power, support and hope."

In July 2012, Putin was four hours late for a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, as he met with the "Surgeon" and motorcyclists.

In October of the same year, "Night Wolves" received a state grant in the amount of 3.7 million rubles for holding children's Christmas trees.

Zaldostanov himself owns a bike center, which houses the Sexton nightclub, a restaurant-bar, a dance floor with a podium, a lounge area and a hotel, which also brings good income.

At the same time, the club earns money by selling clothes and symbols and enjoys the open patronage of the Russian Orthodox Church in the person of the patriarch himself. By the way, recently "Night Wolves" prefer to call themselves not bikers, but Orthodox motorcyclists.

The "Night Wolves" were among the first to support the plans of the Russian president to seize part of Ukraine. During the illegal annexation of Crimea, "Night Wolves" set up a watch at the building of the Sevastopol administration, protecting it from a possible assault by pro-Ukrainian activists. After the motorcycle rally across Crimea and eastern Ukraine, the hashtag #Russian spring appeared on the network. According to Zaldostanov, the first barricade and checkpoint in Luhansk were built by Ukrainian "wolves". In Russia, "Night Wolves" became the organizers of the Anti-Maidan.

The reaction of Ukrainian bikers was not long in coming. In March 2013, the Zaporozhye motorcycle club called on all motorcyclists to hunt for "bitch wolves". "The essence of the action is to eradicate on the territory of Ukraine an incomprehensible formation in the form of a motorcycle association" Night Wolves ", which, using the attributes of biker culture, by its actions shames and in every possible way discredits the biker movement and traditions, while relying on the support of the authorities of the Russian Federation, behaves in a boorish and aggressive way towards all dissenting bikers who, without hesitation, express their opinion about them, "the Zaporozhians said in their address.

The world community did not stand aside - in December 2014, the United States personally imposed economic sanctions on the Night Wolves Club and Zaldostanov. Due to support for Putin's policy in Ukraine, the "Surgeon" was banned from entering Canada in February 2015.

Once again they started talking about the "Night Wolves" on April 10 this year, when the press service of the "Night Wolves" announced the nearest plans. The bikers were going to arrange a motorcycle race dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory, which was to pass along the route Moscow - Minsk - Brest - Wroclaw - Brno - Bratislava - Vienna - Munich - Prague - Targau - Karlshorst - Berlin. But Polish bikers protested when they learned about such intentions of the Russians. On April 24, the Polish authorities officially informed Russian diplomats about the ban on entry to Poland for the participants of the Moscow-Berlin motor rally. "Surgeon" said that he was not going to change the route of the motocross, despite the protests of Polish bikers.

On April 16, the German newspaper Die Welt, citing sources in law enforcement reported that the Berlin authorities will not give permission to travel through the city to Russian bikers.

On April 24, it was reported that Germany was canceling the Night Wolves' visas. On the same day, the Polish authorities officially informed Russian diplomats about the ban on entry to Poland for participants in the Moscow-Berlin motor rally organized by the Night Wolves biker club.

The Russian Foreign Ministry immediately reacted to the decision of the Polish authorities, calling it inadequate and accusing Poland of disrupting the Night Wolves motocross, while Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu wrote in his unofficial Twitter: “A motocross through Poland should be done on tanks. "Night Wolves", good luck to you! ".

"Surgeon" declares that the club will not abandon the idea of holding a motorcycle race under any circumstances. "As we planned, we will do so. If we give up our race, then let's give up everything altogether. Let's give up May 9, let's give up our graves, our history and our past. Let's give up everything then, let's clap clap your hands and pray for a dollar sign, "he said. At the same time, he added that he himself will not yet take part in the event. Passport at the embassy.

And he will catch up with colleagues later. If a visa is issued.

The Night Wolves motorcycle club turned 22 on May 31. The Night Wolves is the first biker club in the USSR and Russia. Founded on May 31, 1989 with the type "MC" - "Moto Club" in Moscow. Since 1992 - a member of the international bike movement. The motorcycle club has 55 regional branches not only on the territory of the Russian Federation, but also in European countries. The motorcycle club has a strict vertical of power, enshrined in the Charter, and employs about 5 thousand people. The Night Wolves Motorcycle Club is headed by the Union of Friendly Motorcycle Clubs, which aims to support the Night Wolves policy and develop the interests of the Union. The Night Wolves Motorcycle Club has a twinned aerobatic fighter group “Russian Knights”.

A motorcycle is a Symbol of our Freedom, our Emblem is a Symbol of Memory, Loyalty and Honor - this is what the bikers of the MC Night Wolves say.

MC Night Wolves is a Motorcycle Club of the Russian Spirit, a motorcycle club of patriots! A motorcycle club capable of uniting the Russian, Slavic society through a selfless motorcycle fraternity. We never traded our principles, did not abandon our friends, did not change our banners for foreign ones.

A lamb was cooked on a spit for his birthday.

Bikers from the CIS countries and Europe came to congratulate Volkov. The Night Wolves wished to preserve their face and their independence, despite the wide-open doors to the West.

The Night Wolves built the first in Russia, unlike anything else, the Bike Center, which in a short time became known to the entire motorcycle, and not only, the world as - "amazing place which I never seen before" - this is how foreigners write about it, at least once visited it.

The club has had a Wolf Engineering division since 1995, which consists of amateur mechanics and is engaged in the assembly and repair of motorcycles. This division has developed and produced the Ural-Volk motorcycle, as well as custom motorcycles that are exhibited at thematic exhibitions.

The image of a rebel on a motorcycle and the spirit of selfless brotherhood are at the heart of the club's ideology.

The Night Wolves motorcycle club is multinational, club members belong to more than three religions, but the majority are Orthodox.

The festive event began with the run of the column of Night Wolves and guests to the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology.

The leader of the club is Alexander "Surgeon" Zaldostanov. (on right)

The surgeon has the status of their ideological leader and club president throughout his life.

The Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology is a private museum of automotive, motorcycle and military equipment located near the Arkhangelskoye estate in the Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow region.

Tour of the museum.

The museum has a large collection of motorcycles.

After viewing the main exhibits in the museum building, a tank battle was supposed to unfold on the site. The T-34-85 tank appeared on the horizon.

The tank stopped abruptly and the Surgeon emerged from the command hatch. He congratulated the bikers on the club's birthday.

After the congratulations, the action began. Motorcycles with submachine gunners from the Second World War drove to the site.

The submachine gunners repulsed an attack by an American Sherman tank with German emblems.

Then they knocked out an armored personnel carrier, accurately throwing a grenade into the back, from which a burning "German" ran out.

The self-propelled gun crushed a "German" motorcycle.

Here is the kind person with whom we drove from the bike center to the museum and back. Thanks a lot! It was cool!

After the museum, the bikers returned to the "base".

A musical program began on the stage.

What the business empire of biker-patriots "Night Wolves" consists of... The well-known, including scandalous, bike club "" is not just one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in the country, founded in May 1989 as the first official biker community in the USSR, but also a rather powerful and widely represented business structure in the regions, if talk about the totality of owned commercial assets. However, this area of activity of the "Night Wolves" remains in the shadow of resonant public actions that organize Alexander Surgeon Zaldostanov and his comrades. Looking for the answer to the question what motopatriots live on and what do they pay for their hyper-activity, we studied the commercial specialization of co-owners of regional Night Wolves clubs throughout the country and the business interests of the most prominent figures at the head of the organization.

"Biker Leaders"

No noticeable "big man", but a lot of "wolf" car repair shops, motorcycle dealerships, as well as trade, intermediary, security and even detective services - and so on throughout the country. “I don’t know how the owners of medium-sized businesses in the regions, but the Surgeon and his entourage fly in business class, I’ve seen it myself,” political analyst Abbas Gallyamov said sarcastically. However, the rest of the "leaders" set an example, if not pure indulgence, then at least some detachment from commerce. True, not all.

Alexander Zaldostanov himself formally resigned from the founding of all business structures, except for one: along with a certain Anton Karandeev, he is listed as a co-owner in LLC Bayk.V. Center (wholesale trade). Mention is also made of his participation in the founding of numerous public organizations (more on that later). But his deputy for the club, Umar Kremlev, according to the SPARK-Interfax database, is the owner of a private security company PSC "SB Volk" (initially, when registered in 2014, it was called "PSC Night Wolves"). In 2016, the company entered into a state contract for the provision of security services for 16 million rubles with the Moscow Property State Unitary Enterprise. In 2015, the "wolves" received 8 million rubles for the protection of the museum-estate "Arkhangelskoye" and 3 million rubles for the protection of the objects of the State Unitary Enterprise "Mosgortransniiproekt".

In general, Umar Kremlev owns a number of commercial structures: TD Holod LLC (wholesale trade in food), Kremlin Gold LLC (jewelry production), Stalingrad LLC (intermediary services), Patriot LLC (activities in the field of sports ) and LLC TSK (freight transport services). Another venture associated with club members, Iron Wolf LLC, was engaged in the motorcycle trade, but has now closed, according to SPARK. Earlier, the TATU-Center, which belonged to bikers, also ceased to operate.

Security

In the regions, the "Night Wolves" really developed, including in the field of commerce. The Volk-50 private security company, owned by Gennady Nikulov, one of the leaders of the Night Wolves in the town of Kalyazin, Tver Region, recently opened in Sevastopol. Two more security agencies owned by Nikulov also started working there. He also owns the Volk private security company in Krasnodar, the Wolf 1423 private security company in Voronezh, as well as a whole pool of security companies in Moscow, in the names of which you can find the invariable “Wolf”. In addition, Nikulov is one of the co-owners of the Night Wolves bike clubs in the cities of Kashin and Dolgorudny (Moscow Region) and one of the leaders of the Bike Center of the Tver Region.

PSC of the Deputy Surgeon received a contract for the protection of the estate "Arkhangelskoye"

Gennady Nikulov's partner in the "Night Wolves" department in Dolgoprudny, Vyacheslav Stegalov, heads the Volk 77 private security company there. By the way, the Surgeon was once among its co-owners. Stegalov also owns LLC "Water Battle", which is engaged in "activities in the field of sports", and in addition is referred to as the former co-owner of LLC "Iron Wolf" - a motorcycle sales company.

In the Istra district of the Moscow region, one of the co-founders of the local branch of the club is Alexei Kaplin, who, according to SPARK-Interfax, owns the private company Bars Group Protection and the company Katerok LLC, which is engaged in retail trade. The business of providing security services is also owned by Evgeny Lapin, co-founder of the club's branch in the Tambov region. The Tambov "wolf" also owns LLC "Antares", which is engaged in security and private investigations. Igor Cherkezia, co-founder of the "wolves" branch in Bashkortostan, manages his security business (Luger private company).

Sale and repair of cars

The business of selling cars and servicing them is another suitable activity for men in leather who also have a passion for fast driving. Many who are the founders and heads of the branches of the bike club "Night Wolves" in the regions really earn by working car dealerships and auto repair shops. Among them is Sergei Zakharov, co-founder of the "wolves" branch in the city of Torzhok, Tver Region: he owns Plastdetal LLC and GTS LLC - companies that provide vehicle repair services.

One of the founders of the Tyumen club "Night Wolves of Western Siberia" Anatoly Anisimov, who owns LLC "ABV Service", is also engaged in car repairs. In Nizhny Novgorod, Andrey Slobozhanin, one of the leaders of the regional branch of the club, owns Sochi on Yuzhny LLC, which repairs and maintains cars, as well as a number of other companies: Favorit LLC (retail trade), Mettorgsnab LLC (wholesale trade metal), LLC "Anna" (telecommunications) and LLC "Golden sticks" (restaurant activities).

In Khimki near Moscow, Andrey Mishchenko, owner of Formula NV, teaches driving. In Tatarstan, the regional club was established with the participation of Viktor Mochalov, who has the most "profile" business - his Motor LLC sells motorcycles. Another Tambov "wolf", Andrey Mitin, earns money by transporting goods through his Zolotoy Oven LLC.

The co-founders of regional Night Wolves clubs often lead regional motorcyclist associations. Gennady Nikulov runs the official bike center of the Tver region, Rostov "wolf" Sergei Borisov - the local motorcycle club "Russian Choppers", Alexander Leontyev from Tatarstan - the powerlifting federation, and Alexander Lunkin from the Istra branch - the capital's federation for the development of motorcycling.

Alcohol and food

Many "wolves" in the regions make their living from the food and beverage trade, as well as from the restaurant business, which has already been partially mentioned. Alcohol is traded, for example, by OOO Volchye Logovo, owned by Yuri Kozlov, co-founder of the Night Wolves club in Kashin. His colleague from Khimki, Ilya Golovachev, is a co-owner of Ivna LLC (also sells alcohol), as well as Park LLC and Brigantina LLC (retail and wholesale trade in food products, respectively). In Pskov " night Wolf"Alexander Korushkin owns PPK LLC, which is engaged in wholesale trade beer.

Evgeny Lapin, who has already been mentioned in connection with the security business in his homeland, trades in wholesale alcohol and food in Tambov. He owns several enterprises in this area (LLC "Proviant", LLC "DDT", LLC "Proviant Holod", LLC "Proviant RC"). In Rostov-on-Don, Sergei Bobrisov sells products through OOO Respect.

In the Istra district of the Moscow region, two co-founders of the local branch of the club are connected with the restaurant business at once. Alexander Rabinov owns Yubileinoe LLC (retail trade), Istra MGIK LLC (restaurant activity) and Obshchepit Unity LLC, and his partner Vladislav Demkin holds Vek LLC (restaurant activity).

Medicine

Oddly enough, a number of regional "night wolves" are associated with the business in the medical field. “Probably because the leader is the Surgeon,” one of the prominent representatives of the head club Felix Chernyakhovsky joked in a conversation with Znak.com.

In Novosibirsk, the "wolf" Sergey Menshikov is a co-owner of Sibmedtech LLC (trade in medical equipment) and Mediafarm LLC (drug trade). In Tatarstan, Alexander Leontyev owns the Eagle Clinic LLC. In Pskov, Yuri Burlin is engaged, among other things, in the wholesale of medical equipment through SK Service LLC.

Finally, the already mentioned Istra "wolf" Alexander Rabinov is the owner of a number of institutions providing dental services: LLC Dentalia, LLC Megamed, LLC Dental Clinic No. 1.

Construction

Another brutal area of business interests is the construction and development business. Vitaly Padalkin from Krasnogorsk owns Forward LLC, which is engaged in construction work. The company of Yuri Makarenko, the co-founder of the club in the same city, is engaged in real estate management. Vasily Zhuravlev's Istok Development OJSC rents its own real estate in the city of Kashin. In Kaliningrad, Sergei Tolochko owns the construction companies LLC Bars 39 and LLC Baltregionstroy, and his partner in founding the local branch of Night Wolves Alexei Kachurin - the installation company Divino LLC.

There are representatives of the construction business among the "wolves" in Tyumen. One of the leaders of the club, Nazariy Dobrovolskiy, owns DMC LLC and Spetsstroyavto LLC in this area. His northern neighbor, the "night wolf" from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Dmitry Burlev, is also associated with the construction business through his Rostransstroy LLC.

In the Pskov region, the already mentioned Yuri Burlin, in addition to an enterprise selling medical equipment, owns Montazh SK LLC and Scorpion Monitoring LLC, which are engaged in construction and installation work.

Mount Athos and the Sexton Club

However, it would hardly be an exaggeration to say that the main business of the "wolves" - at least at the federal level - is their social activities. The acquaintance and even quite friendly relations of Alexander Zaldostanov with Vladimir Putin is a good resource that shows its capitalization. It is no coincidence that the most rapid growth of regional branches was noted precisely in recent years - especially in the summer and autumn of 2015. In total, over 30 regional and local clubs have been created in Russia by now. Several projects are affiliated with the parent organization, which regularly receive large budget grants.

For example, in December 2015 it became known that the youth autonomous non-profit organization (a rather rare form of founding!) "Night Wolves" won a presidential grant from the operator "Union of Women of Russia". Grant funds in the amount of 9 million rubles were received by "wolves" to organize Christmas trees for children in the bike center. By the way, the status of the grant recipient did not prevent the organizers of the Christmas trees from organizing the sale of tickets - 2,000 rubles each.

“The historical and spiritual heritage of the Russian people, today's problems of Russia are taught in a fabulous and therefore understandable manner for children,” - this is a quote from a grant application. The parents of the children who came to the Night Wolves Christmas tree were embarrassed, to put it mildly, by the politicization of the performance: it’s easy to guess that the main byaks, without which, according to the law of the genre, more than one children's fairy tale with a happy ending could not do, turned out to be the Americans. An additional spice in the experience of bikers in holding New Year's parties was brought about by the fact that the same “Union of Women of Russia” refused to receive grants from socially oriented NGOs: for example, the “Vera” foundation, which is involved in helping hospices, or the “Volunteers to help children- orphans ".

There are also a number of public organizations through which the "wolves" collected presidential grants in 2015. The interregional public organization "Russian Motorcyclists" received in December 2015 from the grant operator "National Charitable Fund" 3.5 million rubles to organize a motorcycle rally to Mount Athos - "in order to develop the institutions of Russian public diplomacy, popularize the cultural and historical values of Russia and Russian Orthodoxy" ... In September 2015, another grant operator, the Union of Pensioners of Russia, gave 7 million rubles to the MOO Federation of Motorcycle Tourism for a series of automobile and motorcycle pilgrimages called Russian Road.

The Federation of Motorcycle Tourism and Russian Motorcyclists are public organizations founded by Evgeny Strogov, with whom Zaldostanov-Surgeon also established the Night Wolves MANO. The third co-founder is Vyacheslav Shkoda, who also partially owns the foundation of Russian Motorcyclists. On a par with Strogov, Skoda became the founder of a certain MOO "Night Wolves". In other words, having spawned public organizations, the guys prepared a good infrastructure for receiving money through potential grantees.

Zaldostanov himself is listed as a co-founder of MANO and MOO "Night Wolves", a fund for supporting patriotic projects of exactly the same name, as well as MOO "Russian Motorcyclists". In addition, with his participation a public organization "Stalingrad Call" was registered in Volgograd. An interesting detail: in the SPARK database, Alexander Zaldostanov appears as Zaldastanov. But whether this is a banal mistake in spelling the name of the main "night wolf" when compiling the database, or there is something more behind it, history is still silent.

In the fund for support of patriotic projects "Night Wolves" the general director is Valery Korneev, co-owner of LLC "Tsantrselkhozkompaniya" in the Tambov region. Anatoly Moskalev works as a director at MANO "Night Wolves", and the company itself is the founder of the famous bike club "Sexton".

Failed "chief bikers"

The Night Wolves can be proud of a number of high-profile events, the most famous of which was their cross-border motorcycle races on May 9th. For the position of the "wolves" on the issue of the ownership of the Crimea (where, however, as you know, the Surgeon and his comrades have not gotten through to it yet - at the suggestion of local deputies, there is a ban on the use of the plot of land allocated to the "wolves" near Sevastopol), against the members of the club sanctions from the United States and Canada. In the public space, "wolves" are overgrown with everything that nowadays befits those whose patriotic position cannot be doubted for a second, experts say.

The Russian government relies on the idea that our country is on the side of good, and good should be with fists. Sooner or later, this should give rise to such a phenomenon as "paramilitarism." These are formal and not so formal associations of citizens, which, on the one hand, are not included in the repressive apparatus of the state, but on the other hand, are de facto part of it. One way or another, this is an effective power resource that can be “turned on” in the fight against opponents of the state, but at the same time remain “at nothing”, political scientist Abbas Gallyamov argues about the role of “Night Wolves” on the socio-political stage of Russia.

“Along with the Cossacks,“ Night Wolves ”are the most vivid visualization of the idea of“ paramilitarization ”. They have two functions: to serve as a bogeyman for the opposition and to be evidence that the government is based not only on the bureaucratic apparatus, but also on other, "popular" social groups. Sometimes it seems to me that the Surgeon has one more task: in addition to needing someone else who will visibly embody the idea of a brutal force guarding the regime. And this signal already says that none of those on whom the power relies should not feel like a monopolist, ”adds Gallyamov.

Vice-President of the Center for Political Technologies Alexei Makarkin, returning to the business basis of "Night Wolves", notes that bikering is initially associated with medium-sized businesses. After all, to buy a cool motorcycle, regularly travel to Europe and ride around the country to biker events, you need money, and quite a lot by regional standards. “Plus self-affirmation, prestige, of course. If a biker is another face of a merchant, then this is how a merchant gets rid of the reputation of a “huckster”, to whom Russia still has a bad attitude left over from Soviet times, ”the political scientist says.

At the same time, he is convinced that the role of "wolves" is now exaggerated - the authorities paid attention to them when it was necessary to confront the "white tape" opposition, but now this threat is irrelevant, therefore, the need for "wolves" has decreased. In addition, during their stay in the focus of public attention, the "Night Wolves" could not act as a consolidating force even in their own community. The "wolves" have uneasy relations with other biker clubs and the role of "chief bikers" has not yet been successful for them, "sums up Makarkin.

At the same time, dissatisfaction with the fact that the movement has become too official has begun to grow among bikers. As the media reported, motorcyclists across the country began to leave the organization. So, most of the St. Petersburg bikers have long passed their "Night Wolves" stripes. "He surrounded himself with businessmen, politicians, majors - now in Moscow they are the main members of the bike club, - outraged one of the ex-members of the "Night Wolves". - He is further and further from the common people. Hosting some insanely expensive bike shows, who needs them? A motorcycle club is a brotherhood, not an organization, especially a commercial one.".
