Many motorists think about what kind of antifreeze is poured into Lada Vesta from the factory only when it is time to change it or it is necessary to urgently top up the coolant.

This is due to the fact that mixing antifreeze different brands is not recommended, and having different bases is generally prohibited. It is not recommended to fill the system with water (including distilled water), even in summer, as the coolant contains special additives that protect against corrosion. In addition, antifreeze contains lubricating components necessary for the water pump.

Requirements for antifreeze Lada Vesta

Antifreeze for Lada Vesta must have the following qualities:

- remove heat from the engine cylinders;
- do not freeze at negative temperatures;
- do not form deposits inside the cooling system;
- prevent the formation of rust;
- do not cause damage to rubber parts;
- do not foam during engine operation;
- have the necessary lubricating properties.

As you may have noticed, the requirements for antifreeze on Lada Vesta are not as small as they seem. And it is not so easy to combine all these qualities in one liquid.

From the factory, Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 antifreeze is poured into the Lada Vesta car. It complies with TU 2422-047-51140047-2007. Antifreeze has a red color and is produced by CJSC Obninskorgsintez in the city of Obninsk. Products of this brand are produced in volumes of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 220 kg.

To order online, you can use the articles:

1kg - 613500
3kg - 990464
5kg - 614500
10kg - 756665

And now a few words about the antifreeze itself. Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 is the latest carboxylate antifreeze based on an aqueous glycol solution and organic additives. Does not contain nitrites, nitrates, amines, phosphates, borates and silicates.
Since 2011, this product has been selected as the main product for the first refueling LADA cars at the AvtoVAZ plant. In addition, it is recommended to use Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 during warranty and post-warranty service for Lada cars.

The total volume of the Lada Vesta cooling system is approximately 6.4 liters. To replace, you will need to purchase a minimum of 7 liters of coolant. But, it is more convenient and more profitable to buy in the amount of 10 kg. The remaining antifreeze can be added to the cooling system if necessary.

Antifreeze for Lada Vesta - what else can you fill in?

If Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 antifreeze is not available in your region, and it is not possible to order via the Internet, then you can also use coolants from other manufacturers, for example:

Cool Steam Standard;
Cool Steam Premium;

The level of Lada Vesta antifreeze must be monitored by the marks on the expansion tank under the hood of the car. It is installed on the passenger side in the far corner of the engine compartment of the car and has the shape of a ball.

The tank is marked with the minimum and maximum marks, as well as the type of fluid to be filled. In our case, this is G12. If there are no leaks in the cooling system on a cold engine, the coolant level should be between the MIN and MAX risks. On a warm engine, antifreeze expands and can reach its maximum mark.

If the Lada Vesta antifreeze leaves and the level constantly drops, then you need to add coolant to the required amount and contact a specialized service. Factory antifreeze Lada Vesta has a special fluorescent additive that glows under ultraviolet light. Thanks to this, it is possible to determine the location of the coolant leak in the shortest possible time.

Replacing antifreeze Lada Vesta with your own hands

Antifreeze must be replaced after 90,000 thousand kilometers or after 3 years, whichever comes first. This interval is factory set. However, based on real conditions, this Lada Vesta coolant replacement interval can be safely reduced by 1.5 - 2 times, since even after this time the coolant is already starting to lose its properties. In order not to wait for the complete "death" of antifreeze, it is better to replace it a little earlier.

We will talk about it in the next article in order to exclude theory from it, and immediately start with the practical part. And on this it is time to complete our article and say goodbye to you. Thank you for your attention and see you soon. Don't forget to leave comments on the site!

Lada Vesta. Checking the level and topping up the coolant

It is advisable to check the fluid level in the expansion tank of the cooling system at each inspection of the car before leaving, and always in case of engine overheating and the associated release of fluid from the system. The expansion tank is located in the right rear of the engine compartment.

To check the fluid level, install the car on a horizontal platform. The test is carried out on a cold engine.

The MAX and MIN marks are marked on the side wall of the tank, between which the fluid level should be on a cold engine.

When the engine is warmed up to operating temperature, the coolant level in the reservoir may be slightly above the MAX mark.

If the level is at or below the MIN mark, add the liquid recommended by the manufacturer to the tank (see "Appendices", p. 346).

When the engine is warm, the fluid in the cooling system is under pressure. To avoid burns, do not open the cover expansion tank until the engine has cooled down to a safe temperature.
If it is necessary to add fluid to the system on a warm engine, stop it. After waiting ten minutes, we cover the cap of the expansion tank with a rag and slowly unscrew it a quarter of a turn, relieving excess pressure in the engine cooling system.

and add coolant to the reservoir, slightly not bringing the level to the MAX mark.

Remove coolant leaks with a rag. We wrap the cover of the expansion tank.
If the liquid level in the expansion tank is constantly decreasing, then there is most likely a leak in the cooling system. In this case, it is necessary to check the tightness of the cooling system and eliminate the malfunction (see "Cooling system", p. 159).

Lada Vesta.Coolant replacement

The coolant should be replaced every 60 thousand kilometers. If the engine is hot, let it cool down and then relieve excess pressure in the cooling system by unscrewing the expansion tank cap (see "Checking the level and topping up the coolant", page 29).

We substitute a wide container with a volume of at least 8.5 liters under the drain hole made in the lower part of the left radiator tank. To reduce the intensity of draining the liquid at the initial moment, the cap of the expansion tank should be tightly wrapped.

Loosen the radiator drain plug by hand.

And drain the coolant from the radiator into a substituted container.

The drain plug is sealed with a rubber ring. We replace a torn, cracked or loose ring. We unscrew the cover of the expansion tank.

To drain the coolant from the engine cooling jacket, we substitute a container under the drain hole located on the left side of the cylinder block next to the ignition module.

Using the “13” head with an extension, unscrew the drain plug of the cylinder block ...
...and drain the fluid from the engine.

And remove the hose from the nozzle.

Pour liquid into the engine cooling system through the expansion tank. Let's start the engine. We wait until liquid flows from the coolant supply hose to the throttle assembly.

After that, we install the hose in place and fix it with a clamp. We wrap the cover of the expansion tank. When the engine warms up, the outlet (lower) radiator hose should be cold for some time, and then quickly warm up, which will indicate the beginning of fluid circulation in a large circle. After waiting for the cooling fan to turn on, we stop the engine. After the engine cools down, we check the coolant level in the tank and bring it to normal (it should be between the MIN and MAX marks).

And today we will tell you how to change it. The replacement of Lada Vesta antifreeze must be carried out according to the regulations after 90,000 km or after 3 years, whichever comes first. We recommend making a replacement earlier, since by 90 thousand km the additives in antifreeze almost completely lose their properties and there is no longer any sense from them. It is best to reduce the replacement interval by 2 times and replace after 45 thousand kilometers.

What is required to replace Lada Vesta antifreeze?

To complete the entire procedure, we need a minimum set of tools, which includes:

1. Pliers.
2. A collar with an E10 head.
3. A container for old antifreeze with a volume of about 10 liters.
4. Collar with a 13″ head.
5. New coolant in a volume of at least 7 liters.

The progress of work on replacing the coolant with Lada Vesta

Attention! Antifreeze Lada Vesta must be changed only on a cold engine!

For the convenience of doing work, it is best to use a flyover or a viewing hole. If an engine protection is installed on the car, then it must be dismantled before replacing the antifreeze.

If the antifreeze has not been changed for a long time, then the cooling system must be additionally flushed with special flushes with distilled water.

1. The first step is to relieve the pressure in the system. To do this, simply open the cap of the expansion tank.

2. After that, we go down under the car and find the lower radiator pipe. compress the clamp with pliers and tighten it onto the pipe.

3. Substituting the coolant container, carefully tighten the pipe and drain the antifreeze from the radiator. After the antifreeze has stopped draining, we put the pipe in place and install the clamp.

4. Now you need to drain the antifreeze from the engine block. The block drain plug is located behind the starter. to get to it, you need to dismantle the starter. We unscrew the three bolts with the E10 head and take the starter to the side.

5. With a 13″ key, unscrew the drain plug and drain the antifreeze from the block. After that, we wrap the cork in place and install the starter. The drain plug does not require additional sealing.

6. The last step in replacing Lada Vesta antifreeze is to fill in a new fluid. It is most convenient to use a funnel, but if it is not at hand, then you can use a simple PET bottle by cutting off its bottom. Pour the required amount of antifreeze into the system through filler neck expansion tank.

7. After that, it is necessary to close the plug and start the engine. When the engine warms up, check the level. If everything is normal, then this completes the replacement. If necessary, add antifreeze to the cooling system.

Replacing antifreeze Lada Vesta video

In order to clearly show how antifreeze changes in the Lada Vesta cooling system, we decided to add a thematic video to the article, which you can watch below:

After you have replaced the Lada Vesta coolant, do not forget immediately. After the work done, the heater should please you with its work.

Antifreeze for Lada Vesta must be replaced regularly to ensure proper operation of the engine cooling system. It is important to use a high-quality coolant approved by the car manufacturer.

Antifreeze in any weather highly efficiently removes heat from the internal combustion engine due to the high boiling point and resistance to negative temperatures. This coolant consists of water, ethylene glycol and additives that protect parts from corrosion and extend the life of the entire system.

For Lada Vesta, AvtoVAZ recommends using the same coolant that is poured into this model at the factory, namely Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12. Class G12 complies high standards quality, thanks to which it is highly appreciated by car manufacturers and is popular among car owners.

Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 is based on ethylene glycol and carboxylates. It does not contain silicates, which eliminates the formation of sediment and improves the quality of heat dissipation compared to class G11. Painted Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 in red with an orange tint. Additives that are added to coolants of this class do not have a preventive anti-corrosion effect, however, they effectively isolate and neutralize corrosion foci, preventing it from spreading.

Antifreeze Sintek g12

In order to achieve the most efficient operation of the cooling system, you should listen to the recommendations of AvtoVAZ.

What coolant to use for Lada Vesta

Knowing which antifreeze is filled from the factory to Vesta, it makes no sense to look for something else, especially for a new car. Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 has been tested and approved by AvtoVAZ, it perfectly combines with Lada Vesta and proved to be the best with new engines. The reputation of Sintec products as a whole also speaks in favor of this antifreeze.

If you nevertheless replace the coolant with another one, you should choose from the G12 class, since it suits Vesta better than others.

Is it possible to mix antifreeze

It is strictly forbidden to combine class G12 antifreeze with coolants of other classes. The reason is that a chemical reaction between the components can not only degrade the quality of antifreeze, but also lead to sediment. As a result, major repairs may be required, as sediment can damage the entire cooling system and engine.

You should not experiment with antifreeze of the same class, but from different manufacturers. In that case, the risk serious damage below, but it's there.

How much antifreeze is in the Lada Vesta cooling system

The required coolant level for Vesta is 7.8 liters. When replacing, it is important to fill in just such a volume.

It is better to buy antifreeze for replacement with a margin - 9-10 liters. During the procedure, small losses are inevitable, and you should play it safe in case of unpleasant surprises. In addition, buying a large container is more profitable.

When to change antifreeze

It is necessary to replace the class G12 coolant at least once every 5 years or every 90 thousand km. run. It should be borne in mind that the service life of antifreeze also depends on how the replacement was carried out. If the system is not flushed before filling with new antifreeze, the service life will be only 3 years.

If, contrary to the recommendations of the VAZ, it is not Sintec Antifreeze Lux G12 that is used, but another product, the coolant can be replaced with Lada Vesta at a different frequency. The service life of G13, G12 + and G12 ++ can also reach 5 years, but not more, but G11 antifreeze and antifreeze last up to 2 years.

How to drain antifreeze from Lada Vesta

For work on replacing antifreeze, an inspection hole or overpass will be required. If they are not there, you can manage with a jack, but in this case it is important to be careful and take care of your safety.

For the procedure, you need to prepare:

  • gloves;
  • wide capacity for draining with a volume of 8-10 liters;
  • rags;
  • pliers;
  • funnel;
  • wire;
  • wrenches 10 and 13 mm;
  • new antifreeze.

It is important that the car is completely cool before replacing, otherwise burns from hot steam, antifreeze or system elements cannot be avoided. You should also clean the place of work as much as possible, and it is advisable to replace it in a clean room so that debris does not get into the cooling system during the process.

Action algorithm:

In order to accurately drain the antifreeze completely, you can start the engine for 2 minutes and turn on the stove to the maximum, and then drain the residue.

Where to upload

Fresh antifreeze must be poured into the expansion tank until it is full. It should be poured in a neat thin stream so that air pockets do not occur. When the cooling system is filled with coolant, you need to fix the starter, put the terminal back on the battery and start the engine.

While the internal combustion engine is running, you need to take turns pressing all the hoses in the system. This must be repeated several times. Pinching the hoses is necessary so that the cooling system is filled with liquid evenly, and all the air comes out. In the process, the level of antifreeze will gradually fall, therefore it is necessary to monitor it and add coolant in a timely manner.

When the level is kept at the desired level, it is necessary to tighten the plug and continue testing. So, the pipe during operation power unit should gradually warm up and become hot. The latter indicates that the cooling system is working properly, the thermostat is open and the coolant goes in a big circle.

We must wait until the fan starts working, and for reliability, check the temperature of all hoses in the system. If they are hot, then air locks no and the system is working properly. It is necessary to turn off the engine, wait for it to cool down, check the coolant level and add antifreeze if the level has dropped. Replacement completed.

Thus, if you know how to change antifreeze on Vesta, doing it yourself is quite simple. However, it is necessary to carry out the procedure carefully and remember that coolants are extremely toxic, so care must be taken.
