Today we will find out which of the representatives of the four-wheeled primary market have the most modest appetites - and, perhaps, both the numbers and the participants in this top may well surprise you.

An average consumption of 6-7 liters per hundred is already a trend of recent years, and a good half of fresh models fit into this indicator in their declared figures. An indicator of 5 liters per 100 kilometers is already considered excellent, and every second one cannot boast of this. However, our today's nominees went even further - the threshold for them was the figure ... 4!

Of course, such a bar is submitted to ordinary gasoline cars only in exceptional cases, and in ours one cannot do without diesel or electric magic. Well, one more note: in this top, we, of course, are guided by the indicators declared by the manufacturer in the lists of technical characteristics, and they coincide with reality as often as the promises of politicians. But, as in the latter case, we can only grumble and hope for maximum honesty. So let's go!

Volvo V40 Cross Country

Consumption per 100 km combined: 4.1 liters

We enter the distance - and here we are met by the first ultra-efficient car: the Volvo V40 Cross Country. Its gasoline modifications are quite moderate in their appetites, but the diesel engine promises much more impressive savings. The 1.6-liter unit produces 120 hp. and 280 Nm, and in return requires 4.1 liters of diesel fuel per hundred kilometers in the combined cycle.

Yes, this is 100 milliliters more than our established threshold, but we decided to forgive the “Swede” such a “liberty” due to the fact that its road version of the V40 in the European specification and with a manual transmission does flaunt an indicator of 3.4 liters per 100 km in combined cycle and 3.2 on the highway. Well, for our particular nominee, a consumption of 4.1 liters per hundred with a tank volume of 62 liters promises a power reserve of 1,512 kilometers, which looks very tempting - albeit very optimistic.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 4 l

And here are the first surprises - you do not expect to see a fairly large and dynamic Bavarian coupe in the list of the most economical ones. However, it has a 420d version, which means 2 diesel liters under the hood, quite worthy of 190 hp. and even more promising 400 Nm.

Such a car picks up the first hundred in 7.1 seconds, which in itself is far from a shocking figure. However, the beauty is that, taking into account all of the above, the nominal consumption is 4 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle and 3.6 on the highway. And in the first case, a tank with a capacity of 57 liters means 1,425 kilometers traveled until the car stalls.

Citroen C4 Picasso

Our next "economist" hails from France and has not only outstanding fuel efficiency to its credit, but also an equally noticeable practicality due to its class and therefore size. Citroen C4 Picasso with a 1.6-liter BlueHDi diesel engine has 120 hp. and 300 Nm, while consuming 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.7 on the highway.

The consumer characteristics of this minivan, and another good news is that its "enlarged" version with the prefix Grand, also has seven seats and almost the same fuel consumption - 4 liters in the combined cycle and 3.7 in the extra-urban. If we consider these figures achievable, then for a smaller minivan, a 55-liter tank provides autonomy for 1,410 kilometers, and for a larger one, for 1,375.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3.9 liters

By no means a strange coincidence, the same engine as that of the superior Citroen is available in cars with the louder name DS. The DS4 hatchback, although it has a more luxurious interior design, technically relies on the same indicators: 1.6 liters, 120 hp. and 300 Nm. Well, the consumption, respectively, is almost the same: 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.6 on the highway. The main difference against this background can be considered an increase of 5 liters to the volume of the fuel tank, which increases the potential autonomy to 1,538 kilometers in the combined cycle.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3.9 liters

This "German" works according to the same scheme as the DS: the same motor as that of a fellow, but less weight and dimensions in order to gain another half a glass of diesel fuel. And it works: the two-liter BMW 120d hatchback has the same 190 hp. power and 400 Nm of thrust, which is the same as the 420d coupe, but “eats” 3.9 liters in the combined cycle and 3.5 on the highway. True, the tank here is smaller than that of the 420d - 52 liters, which, after the simplest division operation, gives a cruising range of 1,333 kilometers. Which, in general, is also gorgeous.

By the way, the gasoline version of the BMW 118i with three cylinders is also “not far gone” from its diesel relative: the declared consumption in the extra-urban cycle is 4.2 liters per hundred. True, in the combined cycle it is already 4.8 liters - too much to get into our rating, and the loss in “powers” is noticeable: there are only 136 hp. and 220 Nm.

Consumption per 100 km combined: 3 l

Well, here we have reached the point of no return, where in order to achieve better numbers, we will have to resort to the "white magic" of electricity. Well, speaking of hybrids, we immediately.

The new Japanese hatchback has added both in size and in terms of fuel efficiency. has a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, which, working on the Atkinson cycle, produces 99 horsepower, which are complemented by another 72 "horses" from the electric motor. The torque of the gasoline unit is 142 Nm, and the electric one is 163 Nm. Well, what all this was started for - the nominal consumption - also does not disappoint: the car should consume 3 liters in the combined cycle and 2.9 on the suburban highway. True, the tank here is noticeably smaller than that of the diesel cars presented above: 43 liters, which, however, still gives the number 1,433 as an indicator of the power reserve.

Mercedes-Benz C 350 e

Consumption per 100 km in the combined cycle: 2.1-2.4 liters

Well, now meet the winner - the king of virtual consumption and the master of impressing with small numbers: the Mercedes-Benz C 350 e. This premium sedan, despite being a hybrid, knows how to splurge.

Judge for yourself: the gasoline engine here has a volume of “normal” 2 liters, and its power is 211 horsepower, to which an electric motor adds another 82. Torque - confident 350 Nm. But a much steeper indicator is the fuel consumption that interests us: according to Mercedes-Benz, it can reach up to 2.1 liters in the combined cycle. Why "before"? Because the manufacturer himself indicates a "floating" value: 2.4 - 2.1 l / 100 km. Well, if we apply this figure to a tank that holds 57 liters, then we get just a monstrous power reserve - 2,714 kilometers! It is a pity that we still do not know how to move in the universe in which automakers measure passport consumption ...

Many people ask the question: how to save on fuel? Of course, there are a lot of tips on this subject, such as 10 ways to reduce consumption and all that. But, whatever one may say, you can’t jump above the passport data. Therefore, the surest way not to spend a lot of money on fuel is to buy an economical car that consumes a minimum of fuel.

A modern car can consume just over 3 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway. And this is without any hybrid installations. In this case, as a rule, we are not talking about small cars at all. Today, economical engines can be found on roomy sedans and premium cars.

Basically, engines that can significantly reduce fuel consumption are diesel. But it cannot be said that economical gasoline units are rare. For example, small and efficient gasoline engines are being actively promoted by Ford, Renault, Opel, Peugeot and Citroen. Toyota and Volkswagen have interesting engines.

True, in the TOP-10 in the overall standings, gasoline cars still did not make it. However, in a separate rating of gasoline cars, you will definitely find interesting models.

Among economical cars, Renault and Peugeot models were the most popular.

Of the Japanese brands, only Toyota was included. Even the "baby" Nissan Micra turned out to be too voracious - it "eats" 6.5 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle. Despite the fact that the car is about the same size as Smart.

Remember that fuel consumption also depends on the right engine oil. You can find a good selection of oils.

Greetings visitors and readers of the automotive site Autoguid.ru Today's article will talk about the 10 most economical cars in the world in terms of fuel consumption. We will make a reservation right away that we will not consider electric cars. The rating includes cars that run purely on fuel or hybrid versions.

Events in the world oil market indicate that the era of oil is coming to an end. “Green sources” of energy and electricity are on the first place. This is especially noticeable in the automotive market. He subtly feels global trends and clearly adheres to the strategy of using alternative energy sources. Automotive manufacturers have taken the benchmark for the maximum reduction in fuel consumption of cars.

Leading engineers of automotive corporations are working to create an engine that consumes fuel resources as little as possible. Reducing the consumption of gasoline and diesel is put at the forefront when creating new models of cars. Traditional gasoline and diesel versions of engines are crowded by hybrid versions. They are an intermediate chain between electric cars and traditional fuel versions of cars.

Introducing the top in fuel consumption.

The miniature car, beloved by housewives, students and retirees, has mixed fuel consumption in 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers . Vehicle consumption may vary depending on driving style and vehicle load.

Korean engineers equipped a compact and lightweight car with a 0.8 cm³ engine and a power of 51 horsepower. The use of a low-power motor did not affect the acceleration dynamics of the car in the best way. To the cherished "hundreds" the car will accelerate as much as 14-15 seconds. In any case, the car is not designed for high-speed driving.

9. Chery Bonus, 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers

The Chinese car Chery Bonus is famous for the fact that it managed to give way to Daewoo Matiz in terms of speed gain dynamics. He is able to gain speed of 100 kilometers per hour in only 16-18 seconds. The car is slow and clumsy.

Its only plus is that it consumes a small amount of fuel. Chery Bonus mixed expense is 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers . This is where the advantages and disadvantages of using the machine end.

8. Audi A1 Sportback, 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers

The German car surprises with low fuel consumption. Despite the modest “appetites”, the car is able to pick up speed of 100 km / h in 9 seconds. Good result for a compact small car.

The car is located on the 8th line in the ranking of the most economical cars in terms of fuel consumption. Despite the engine with a volume of 1.4 liters, the car produces 122 horsepower. Outside the city, car consumption is reduced to a record 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers .

7. Smart ForTwo, 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers

The two-compact car consumes a small amount of fuel in the combined cycle. The average consumption of the machine is 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers . A power unit with a capacity of 88 horsepower is installed on the car.

If desired, you can buy Smart ForTwo with a lower power motor. The 77 horsepower version of the engine will further reduce fuel consumption in the combined cycle. In terms of functionality, the car leaves much to be desired, as it is designed for 2 people and has a small trunk. Great option for city driving.

6.Peugeot 107, 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers

A compact French car in terms of fuel consumption is content with little. Its engine "consumes" 5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle (city-highway). The machine is modest in size. Often, tall drivers and passengers complained about crowding.

The car is not designed for travel. He is a typical representative of cars that feel comfortable on the narrow streets of cities. Among its shortcomings, one can single out an inadequately high cost. For this money you can take a budget car of the middle class.

5. Skoda Fabia 1.2 TDI Greenline II, 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers

The Czech automotive giant Škoda is actively working to reduce the fuel consumption of its cars. The appearance of the Skoda Fabia 1.2 TDI confirms the right direction of Czech engineers in the design of machines. They created a car with an expense 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers in a mixed cycle.

The machine runs on diesel fuel. Despite the modest engine volume of 1.2 liters, the car behaves smartly on the road. All thanks to the use of a turbine. A feature of the car from the Skoda company is that in the car they were able to achieve a reduction in emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

4. Peugeot 208 1.4 e-HDi 70 EGC, 4.0 liters per 100 kilometers

The French company Peugeot was able to create a car with an expense 4 liters per 100 kilometers . The Peugeot 208 has a modest size and is mostly designed for use in urban environments.

The car is equipped with a 1.4-liter engine. It works on diesel fuel. The engine is equipped with a turbine that provides acceptable vehicle dynamics.

The maximum speed that the Peugeot 208 is capable of developing is 165 km/h. The car has moderate speed characteristics and cannot satisfy the needs of those who like to ride with the breeze.

3. Lexus CT200h, 3.7 liters per 100 kilometers

A hybrid vehicle that uses electricity in addition to gasoline as fuel. The introduction of hybrid technology has enabled car manufacturers to reduce fuel consumption. Often, in some models of cars, the average fuel consumption has decreased by 1.5-2 liters per hundred kilometers.

The Lexus CT200h is only capable of driving about 3 kilometers on an electrical installation. The main thing is not to develop a high speed, as the gasoline mode of the engine is automatically activated.

2.Toyota Prius Plug In, 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers

In second place in the top 10 most economical cars in the world is another representative of the hybrid family of cars. The Japanese concern Toyota introduced the Prius Plug In using 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers run.

Despite the modest fuel consumption, the car is able to reach speeds of 100 km / h in 11 seconds. The maximum speed is 180 km/h. The car, thanks to a special electrical installation, has a range of 1200 kilometers. The battery can be charged from an ordinary household electrical outlet.

1.Volvo V60 Plug In Hybrid, 1.9 liters per 100 kilometers

The first place among the most economical cars in terms of fuel consumption is occupied by a Swedish car manufacturer. The Volvo V60 Plug In Hybrid is in no way inferior to its petrol and diesel brothers. It is comfortable, practical and stylish looking.

Car through the use of a hybrid power plant consumes 1.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers . This is an absolute record among all modern machines of this type. The power reserve of the car is 1200 kilometers. The cost starts from 30 thousand euros.

Top 10 most economical cars in the world convincingly proves that the automotive industry does not stand still, but is actively and progressively developing. Hybrid cars are a transitional stage to the era of electric cars. This convincingly shows the rating of the cars presented in the article.

Due to the global economic crisis, an increasing number of people are trying to save money in almost all areas of life, and cars have long been no exception. Rising gasoline prices force us to look for the most fuel-efficient car brands, but sometimes it is very difficult to find such brands. A reasonable combination of "price-quality" and, importantly, fuel efficiency, many manufacturers are still only trying to achieve, however, there are those who have already managed to succeed in this important and difficult task. The task can be achieved in different ways: for example, by reducing the weight of the car, switching to a more environmentally friendly and, as a result, economical type of fuel, reducing rolling resistance, and so on. Most often, manufacturers are moving in one of the directions, which, unfortunately, does not allow achieving maximum results, however, there are, of course, partial improvements today. So, today we will list the top 10 most economical cars in the world, talk about their parameters and, of course, see these beauties in the photo.

BMW i3 hatchback

On the first line of our rating, we decided to place this particular machine, whose weight is only 1640 kg. Car BMW (BMW) i3 in the back of 5 doors. the hatchback has been produced since January 2013. The power of the i3 engine is 170 horsepower. The maximum speed that the i3 can develop is 150 km / h, and the acceleration time to 100 km / h is 7.2 seconds. gearbox 1-speed automatic transmission. This hatchback belongs to a new generation of electric cars: you can charge it through a regular outlet. The cost of a swallow, of course, is also rather big - about 50 thousand dollars, but there is another bonus: a gasoline engine that can provide simply amazing gas mileage: only 0.5 liters per 100 km.

Vauxhall Ampera

Like the previous representative, Ampera also belongs to hybrid electric vehicles: it is able to work on both electric and gasoline engines. Fuel consumption is within a liter per hundred, and its distinguishing feature lies in a convenient ability: while the gasoline engine is running, the electric battery is charging. A fairly spacious interior that can accommodate up to 4 people is a good option in a big city. In terms of its size, the Ampera fits into the concept of the C-class according to European standards: 4498 mm long, 1439 mm high and 1787 mm wide. The five-door has a 2685 mm wheelbase and 130 mm ground clearance. In the "combat" state, the hybrid model weighs 1732 kg.

Hatchback Toyota Prius

Another representative of a hybrid car, which, by the way, was the first to be mass-produced. Due to the rather high price, the car is not in great demand in Russia, but around the world it is a fairly popular and sought-after model, which is highly maneuverable and can accommodate up to five people. The hybrid is charged from the electrical network, which translates into savings of about 1.75 per 100 km. Thanks to the shutdown of the internal combustion engine during stops, as well as the help of the electric drive, the passport consumption of gasoline per hundred kilometers in the urban cycle is 3.9 liters, and in the suburban cycle - only 3.7 liters. The only transmission available for the Prius is a CVT. From 0 to 100 kilometers per hour, the hatchback can accelerate in 10.4 seconds. Overall dimensions Toyota Prius (Toyota Prius) length: 4460 mm, width: 1746 mm, height: 1490 mm, ground clearance: 140 mm, base: 2700 mm

Hatchback Peugeot 308

A relatively new representative of economical cars with a traditional (fuel) power supply system (2015). Fuel consumption is tempting: only 2.58 liters, while the engine capacity is 1.6 liters. Complies with all environmental standards, in addition, it has a fairly spacious interior, which can easily accommodate a family of 4 people. At the heart of the new Peugeot 308 is the new EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) platform, which offers compact dimensions (length 4.25 m) and reduced weight (140 kg less), as well as improved driving dynamics with low CO2 emissions and fuel economy. Unlike the first generation Peugeot 308 is aggregated with a completely new six-speed automatic transmission.

Kia Rio 1.1 Ecodynamics

A great option for those who like to save on fuel: the Korean representative with its three cylinders consumes only 2.66 liters per hundred kilometers. Of course, it will not work to call such a machine very powerful and frisky, however, given the measured driving of a big city, this minus does not burden. In addition, it also boasts of its environmental friendliness: the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere is mercilessly low, which cannot but rejoice. Kia Rio 1.1 Ecodynamic is equipped with a special Start-Stop system that allows you to automatically turn off the power unit, for example, when stopping at a red traffic light. Among other things, the car is also equipped with the Eco system, which limits the torque and allows the automatic transmission to switch earlier than in the usual standard mode, which makes it possible to significantly save fuel consumption.

Smart Fortwo CDI

This machine can be called a real Thumbelina, because it weighs only 780 kg with an engine capacity of 0.7 liters. For a hundred kilometers, it only needs 2.85 liters of fuel, which, of course, is largely achieved precisely due to the small mass. Of course, Smart is not suitable for racing, but it is very convenient in urban traffic and slow driving. The variable ratio Direct-Steer system makes city maneuvering and parking much easier. Its capabilities allow you to adjust the turning diameter indicator, which in the minimum value is only 6.95 m. It has been produced in the UK for quite a long time, and today it is already available for purchase in our country.

Skoda Fabia Greenline

The elegant and economical car of the popular Skoda brand boasts a very low consumption: about 2.83 liters, which, no doubt, automatically enters it into our rating. Equipped with a special gearbox setting system, which saves additional energy and, as a result, valuable fuel. The on-board computer is a real assistant for the driver, since in addition to all the standard lotions, it is also able to calculate the optimal driving mode. The maximum torque (180Hm) falls on two thousand revolutions per minute. The Fabia Greenline is equipped with a 3-cylinder turbocharged TDI CR diesel engine with a capacity of 1.2 liters (75 horsepower) equipped with a DPF particulate filter. In combination with it, a manual gearbox is used.

Volkswagen Golf

A classic representative of Volkswagen cars, made in its best traditions. You can buy such an assistant for 25-40 thousand dollars, which, of course, cannot be attributed to a minimum. Consumption is very pleasant: about 2.7 liters per hundred. Equipped with an updated exhaust gas purification system, which makes it also environmentally friendly. Lightweight and manoeuvrable – the perfect solution for the modern city. For the Russian market, there are several modifications of the Volkswagen Golf with gasoline power units with a volume of 1.2 liters and 1.4 liters. "Top" is a modification with a 1.4-liter TSI, with a capacity of 140 hp. and DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. In addition to excellent performance, this engine is able to offer its customers high fuel efficiency.

Ford Fiesta

Despite the acquired status of a "noisy" and rather slow car, it is a very interesting representative of its class with a very prestigious appearance. Consumption per hundred is about 2.77 liters of fuel, which, you see, is very good. Equipped with special exhaust gas cleaning technology. SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive. Many car enthusiasts will probably see the familiar “German” touches in the features of this car and will not fail at all: it is really designed on the basis of the Volkswagen Polo. It is considered a very worthy middle peasant in its class: the consumption is about 3.5 liters per 100 km, the cost is within 16 thousand euros. Buyer's Best Choice 4

Now there is a general trend of striving for efficiency and careful use of resources. Against this background, many car manufacturers are improving engines and transmissions, creating hybrids, etc. Our rating is dedicated to just such vehicles - the most economical. For the convenience of the reader, the review has been divided into several popular categories, and the position of a particular model is based on information from the manufacturer, service centers and owners who own data verified by their own experience.

The most economical small cars

Small dimensions, light weight and high efficiency make cars of this class the most preferred means of transportation on busy city highways. The category presents the most economical models that can be purchased on the primary market in Russia.

4 Renault Logans

High popularity in Russia
Country: France
Average price: 554,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.2

  • urban cycle - 8.5;
  • suburban cycle - 5.6;
  • mixed cycle - 7.0.

Renault Logan was deservedly included in the top of our rating. This car, having appeared on the Russian market, immediately gained popularity among the consumer with its availability, reliability of units and build quality. In addition, albeit not the best, but still an economical gasoline engine (especially compared to domestic cars) has become one of the reasons for such a loyal attitude. Logan has an inexpensive, but quite spacious and roomy interior, which makes it possible to use this passenger vehicle not only for transporting passengers, but also for solving a huge range of everyday tasks of a domestic or commercial nature.

3 Ford Fiesta 1.6 L

The most reliable
Country: USA
Average price: 795,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 8.4;
  • suburban cycle - 4.5;
  • mixed cycle - 5.9.

The gasoline engine (105 hp) of this car is not only reliable (like all other engines of this company), but also economical enough to become a worthy representative of its brand in the top of our rating. Compact and agile, this car is capable of accelerating to hundreds in just 11.4 seconds. The updated model has become more comfortable and high-tech, and changes in appearance have given it completely new features. The presence of intelligent and passive safety systems, a comfortable and surprisingly spacious interior.

2 Volkswagen Jetta VI TDI 2.0 l

Best power and torque performance
Country: Germany
Average price: 735,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 7.5;
  • suburban cycle - 5.7;
  • mixed cycle - 6.6.

A typical representative of middle-class cars, a four-door sedan with a two-liter TDI engine, offers motorists good fuel consumption figures, a (quite standard) 140 horsepower and under 250 Nm of torque. Despite the rather high price in the class, it is in stable demand on the Russian market, but it cannot be called the best-selling one. The high cost of maintenance affects, and gasoline "Koreans" are slowly but surely winning back market share.

This summary table clearly demonstrates the fuel consumption parameters of passenger cars that took part in our rating. The figures are obtained from open sources, and are by no means a standard (many measurements were taken not in laboratory conditions, using fuel from different suppliers)

Rating (2019): 4.9

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 5.1;
  • suburban cycle - 3.3;
  • mixed cycle - 4.3.

A small elegant machine with a three-cylinder gasoline engine “eats” very little fuel, which cannot but please the owners. An excellent car for maneuvering in a city overloaded with traffic - it is easier to park on it, and it will pass in fairly narrow places. The car has a “fresh”, youthful look and a sufficient level of comfort of the interior space. The presence of high-level active auxiliary and passive safety systems allowed Euro NCAP to award the Peugeot 208 all 5 stars, which is very cool for a small and economical car.

The most economical middle class cars

Cars of this category have a sufficient level of comfort and are in the greatest demand on the market. Modern power plants allow these models to be as economical as the representatives of the small class.

4 Hyundai Solaris 1.6 l

The optimum ratio of price and quality
Country: South Korea
Average price: 842,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.5

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 8.0;
  • suburban cycle - 4.8;
  • mixed cycle - 6.0.

The most optimal model in terms of overall configuration. According to manufacturers, the new Hyundai Solaris with a six-speed manual transmission and a 1.6-liter engine spends about six liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. For comparison, the same model with a 1.4 engine has a fuel consumption of 5.7 liters under the same conditions. Let's add to this indicator the general popularity of both the company and the model itself, supplement this splendor with a relatively low price in the class - and we have a future sales leader in Russia.

3 Skoda Octavia 1.4L TSI DSG

Buyer's Best Choice
Country: Czech Republic
Average price: 1,005,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 6.4;
  • suburban cycle - 4.7;
  • mixed cycle - 5.3.

It just so happens that the most economical model of the new Skoda has a seven-speed robotic gearbox and a turbocharged gasoline engine. In this configuration, the 1.4-liter engine produces up to 150 horsepower, and fuel consumption per hundred in the combined cycle does not exceed 5.3 liters. The cost of such a "miracle" from dealers is more than a million. With moderate driving, the car will become a good vehicle for the city, but it is not recommended to “hurricane” on it - how much the seven-speed robot will last in this case, one can only guess.

2 Kia Rio 1.6 l

Optimum combination of performance and economy
Country: South Korea
Average price: 849,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 7.0;
  • suburban cycle - 4.8;
  • mixed cycle - 5.9.

A complete clone of Hyundai Solaris in terms of engine performance and average price level, which, nevertheless, shows slightly better results in gasoline consumption. Let the difference between them is not so significant (only 0.1 liters per hundred kilometers) and does not give much gain even in the long term, but dry statistics require an honest display. Both models have a lot of fans in Russia, so talking about the dominance of one over the other in a single component, and not in general, is a rather stupid idea.

1 Volkswagen Passat 1.4TSI

Most Economical
Country: Germany
Average price: 1499000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 5.0

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 6.1;
  • suburban cycle - 4.4;
  • mixed cycle - 5.1

The most economical car of the category is very popular in Russia and deservedly leads in the top of this category. The gasoline engine model is characterized by unpretentious operation and inexpensive service costs, offering its owner the highest possible comfort and safety for the money spent. A car with a conservative design and high build quality is a good alternative to many more prestigious models.

The most economical luxury cars

The main difference between luxury cars and the middle segment lies in the visual qualities and comfort parameters. Representatives of this class are far from always equipped with more powerful engines, which, in other matters, they do not need. The main goal of such cars is to look solid and instill in others a sense of envy or genuine interest in the person inside the cabin.

4 BMW 520D

The most "frisky"
Country: Germany
Average price: 3590000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 7.4;
  • suburban cycle - 5.5;
  • mixed cycle - 6.2.

Unexpected, at first glance, the appearance of the BMW 5 Series in our rating is more than justified by such indicators. With a weight of 2200 kg, and a rather frisky "temper" characteristic of this model of an elite car, its fuel consumption is only slightly higher than that of small cars. At the same time, we have an elite class sedan already in the seventh generation, with a spacious and comfortable interior. There is no need to describe all the advantages - this passenger car has plenty of them. And, despite the fact that 190 hp is hidden under the hood, the BMW 520D can be considered an economical car worthy of entering the top of our rating.

3 Mercedes A class 1.5 l

"Rich" equipment. Corporate executive look
Country: Germany
Average price: 2,031,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 5.7;
  • suburban cycle - 3.1;
  • mixed cycle - 3.9.

Someone may consider this car a “diesel misunderstanding” that fell on the head of the chief engineer of the Mercedes-Benz concern. But we know that the lion's share of the funds given for the right to own a car goes to the mercy of excellent quality and corporate design. In principle, 90 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque are enough to drive around the city in farce mode, but you should not expect much from them. But the consumption pleases: when driving in the combined cycle, it is only 3.9 liters per "weave". Decent numbers for a decent executive car.

2 Mazda 6 2.0L

Optimal balance of performance
Country: Japan
Average price: 1626000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 8.0;
  • suburban cycle - 5.3;
  • mixed cycle - 6.5.

Eco-friendly, dynamic, stylish - this is only a small part of those epithets that the Mazda 6 deserves. A full-fledged executive car with a daring sporty character spends as much in the combined cycle as the leader of this category, provided that under the hood there is a two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower. forces, and the gears are switched by means of an automatic transmission. The cost of the model for the current realities is optimal, especially for a car of this class.

1 Audi A6 2.0TFSI

The best combination of power and economy
Country: Germany
Average price: 4375000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 5.0

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 8.3;
  • suburban cycle - 5.4;
  • mixed cycle - 6.5.

Executive sedan from Audi is deservedly one of the three most economical cars. An impressive 180 horsepower, issued by a turbocharged two-liter engine, coupled with a manual transmission in the combined cycle consumes only 6.5 liters of gasoline. Yes, such a car can cost a pretty penny to maintain, but if money is not a problem for you, this is the option that you should pay attention to.

The most economical hybrid cars

Cars of this category, in addition to modern internal combustion engines, have electric motors that allow you to minimize fuel consumption and significantly reduce environmental pollution. In addition, hybrids are more dynamic due to the possibility of using the torque of two power plants at the same time.

3 PORSCHE PANAMERA 4 E-HYBRID

The most luxurious in the category
Country: Germany
Average price: 7,652,000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 2.5;
  • suburban cycle - 2.5;
  • mixed cycle - 2.5

These consumption readings were recorded under conditions close to ideal, and in real life they are, of course, higher. The main thing is that the battery is charged. With four-wheel drive and a gasoline engine with a capacity of 462 liters. s., PANAMERA 4 E-HYBRID really surprises with a completely different one. The quick start mode, using both power plants, is able to accelerate the car to hundreds in just 4.6 seconds! The electric component of the hybrid weighed the car by 320 kg, and the luggage compartment had to be reduced by 95 liters to hide the electric traction battery. In addition to a high level of comfort and safety, as an additional option, the owner can appreciate the benefits of steering with a rear steering axle.

2 Audi A6 3.0 55 TFSI quattro S tronic

High level of safety and comfort
Country: Germany
Average price: from 3995000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 9.1;
  • suburban cycle - 5.5;
  • mixed cycle - 6.8.

This is an excellent indicator for a car with a gross weight of 2.4 tons. Economical fuel consumption is far from the only advantage of the Audi A6 3.0 hybrid. A distinctive feature of this car can be considered a completely silent and rapid start. This monster is able to “pass” over a hundred in 5.1 seconds! The combination of the efforts of a gasoline engine with a turbine and an electric motor (Boost mode) during high-speed maneuvering can impress the most experienced drivers. The AUDI lineup has always been distinguished by high quality electronics and security systems, and the hybrid is no exception. And it’s not even worth talking about the level of comfort - for this brand of car, the convenience and safety of the driver and passengers have always been and remain one of the traditional components.

1 Toyota Prius 1.8 l

The best combination of performance among hybrid cars
Country: Japan
Average price: 1925000 rubles.
Rating (2019): 5.0

Estimated fuel consumption (l / 100 km):

  • urban cycle - 3.1;
  • suburban cycle - 2.9;
  • mixed cycle - 3.0.

The legendary car from the Japanese automaker, which changed the world with its appearance. Skipping a brief digression into history, the Prius is the first hybrid car in the world. Until a certain moment, the impossible combination of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor-generator gave people an expensive, unusual and economical hatchback. When driving in mixed road conditions, it consumes only three liters of gasoline. Of course, over time, competitors began to creep into a previously unexplored niche, but the Prius is still holding its own well.
