"The whole road was covered in oil, it flowed like a train, people began to jump out on the move."

Rescue work near the Volna village, where in the morning, carrying workers to shift, continues. According to the latest data, as a result of the emergency, 17 people died, 27 were rescued (among them the driver). Our correspondents "MK in the Kuban" managed to contact the wife of an eyewitness to the events, who was traveling in a rotational bus just behind the vehicle that fell into the sea. According to him, most likely, the brakes of the bus were not working properly.

This is what a woman told our colleagues: “My husband works there. He sent me a text message in the morning: "We have an emergency, the bus fell off the pier, many people died." A little later, the information was confirmed by the local administration.

Then the spouse called and said that they were traveling in a rotational bus after the Interstroyevsky bus, on which workers were taken to the construction of the Tamanneftegaz pier near the Kerch Strait (the pier is intended for OTEKO, which includes Tamanneftegaz, the largest investment company in the new port of Taman It is being built by the subcontracting organization "Interstroy" - auth.) And there the road goes downhill. The husband explained: “We see that the bus is heading straight down. We still think why he is racing like that, and then we see that the whole road is covered in oil, it just pours like a train. Apparently, the brakes of the bus went off and the driver tried to brake with a handbrake. It was evident that he could not stop, people began to jump out on the move. We saw people getting out through the hatches above. One landed successfully, the other injured his hand, broke his ribs. And the bus is still rushing, drove to the pier and fell into the water. "

According to an eyewitness, the bus was full. They were accompanied by people from the same watch, who simply did not find a place in the bus that then fell into the sea.

Also, a witness to the events said that, most likely, the local Temryuk brigade was on the bus, engaged in the construction of the pier. People were immediately pulled out of the fallen bus, but the depth there is about 10 meters. The first three who were taken out of the water could not be saved, they choked immediately.

More than 20 divers worked on site. The bus has already been lifted up by crane. But the search for the missing continues.

According to preliminary data, the failure of the brakes became the cause of the emergency. The bus was carrying 45 workers of the Tamanneftegaz company. They were returning from watch. Earlier it was reported that the bus was carrying the builders of the Kerch Bridge. Rescuers immediately recruited divers. The bus was lifted from the sea day with a crane.

Who's guilty?

The workers were transported on a bus belonging to an individual entrepreneur born in 1963. The bus may have a problem with the braking system. Eyewitnesses report that the driver tried to brake with the gearbox, but it collapsed. The bus turned across the road, hit a concrete bumper and crashed into the sea.

Official representative of the IC of Russia Svetlana Petrenko stated that “the investigation additionally qualified the deed under the article“ Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements ”.

What place?

The Volna settlement is located in the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory. This is the Taman Peninsula, where the seaport of Taman is located. It has constructed and under construction terminals designed for transshipment of the following cargo: oil and oil products, liquefied hydrocarbon gases, ammonia, grain, coal, fertilizers, iron ore, sulfur, steel products, container cargo.

How many were injured?

18 people died. Rescuers have already lifted all bodies out of the water. At first, six deaths were reported. All those who were rescued after the bus crashed were taken to hospitals in the Krasnodar Territory - Temryuk hospital and Taman hospital.

What about the driver?

The bus driver is reported to be alive and in hospital. He has fractures in both legs.

Will there be compensation?

The company that owns the OTEKO-Portservice bus will provide assistance to workers injured in road accidents and their families. The press service of TASS said that the deputy general director of OTEKO-Portservice was at the scene of the incident. Irina Trifonova.

At about 8 am, in the area of the Volna village of the Krasnodar Territory, a bus overturned from the pier in the Kerch Strait. According to preliminary data, he transported workers of the contracting organization and the company ZAO Tamanneftegaz returning from their shift.

According to the administration of the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory, the territory was cordoned off, doctors, law enforcement officers, and psychologists went to the scene. In addition, a special naval rescue team went there, which lifted the fallen bus to the surface. The sea depth in the accident area is about 4 meters.

As a result of the tragedy, 17 people out of 41 who were on the bus were killed. All victims were taken to hospitals in the region. Doctors assess the condition of 5 people as grave.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, more than 110 people and 29 pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the accident.

The investigation is being conducted ...

By order of the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, the case of the deaths of workers in the Kuban was transferred to the investigation department of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, and experienced investigators and forensic experts from the central office were sent to the scene.

Initially, a criminal case was opened on the grounds of a crime under Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation). However, by 11 o'clock it was established that a bus belonging to a private entrepreneur was transporting the workers.

“In this regard, the investigation additionally qualified the deed under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements) ”, - reported on the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The investigation is considering all possible versions of the accident: violation of traffic rules by the driver, technical failure. In addition, the task of the investigators is to establish "the role of persons who are responsible for monitoring the technical condition of the vehicle and ensuring the safety of employees of the enterprise."

The Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office is also conducting an audit. So it's too early to draw any conclusions.

Accidents with buses are not uncommon

Unfortunately, the statistics of road accidents involving buses are sad, and not only in Russia. Messages come almost every day, and there are almost always victims.

Only the day before from Turkey came information about an accident with an intercity bus, which killed 5 people. A few days ago, 11 Russians were injured in an accident with a tourist bus, also in Turkey.

This morning in Murmansk, a bus crashed into a trolleybus. Fortunately, no one was hurt. And on the eve in the village of Vnukovo, two buses collided, as a result of which three people were injured. Even more often minibuses get into accidents.

The causes of road accidents are different each time: from traffic violations to equipment failure. In any case, we can talk about the human factor. Drivers who do not know the rules of the road are hired, the transport does not undergo a proper technical inspection, etc. In addition, many buses, especially in regions remote from large and wealthy cities, are simply outdated. And no one knows what surprises to expect from them. But any of the reasons can lead to the death of people.
