Everyone in the house has a washing machine, but not everyone has it equipped with a laundry drying function. Therefore, after washing, the clothes begin to hang out on the street so that it dries. But the weather doesn't always allow it. In this case, you have to look for a place in the house where you can hang clothes. A good helper in such situations is a clothes dryer.

The clothes dryer allows you to dry your clothes indoors. It can be a bathroom, a kitchen, a corridor, one of the rooms of the house, but the best option is a glazed balcony where such a dryer is placed.

Types of dryers

There are a lot of clothes dryers. All of them differ in location.

Wall mounted clothes dryer

This type of dryer is ideal for small apartments. Due to their design, they do not take up much space. There are capitally installed dryers and dryers - "accordions" for clothes.

Overhauled wall-mounted clothes dryers consist of two parts. One piece is attached to the wall. The second part is mounted on the opposite side and is the main part of the structure. Ropes are pulled out of it and, with the help of hooks, are attached to the first part of the structure.

The dryer - "accordion" for clothes thanks to a design completely develops and saves the place in the room. It is suitable for the bathroom, where it can serve as a towel holder, as well as for the balcony. The dryer can withstand considerable weight and is considered one of the best among wall-mounted types.

In general, wall-mounted dryers do not withstand a large amount of laundry. Therefore, they are more suitable for light and not large clothes.

Floor dryer

This type of dryer is similar in design to an ironing board. If it is necessary to dry the laundry, the dryer is taken out and unfolded. When the laundry is dry, it is folded again and hidden in a closet or pantry. When unfolded, the dryer is quite large and therefore can accommodate more laundry than the previous type of dryer.

When choosing a floor dryer, attention should be paid to the legs, because they can scratch the floor. It is best that the dryer has wheels or plastic caps.

Some models have small holders for children's clothes.

Vertical clothes dryer

This is a type of floor dryer. Compared to a floor dryer, it is compact even when unfolded, as it has several tiers. Thanks to its design, the dryer allows you to place a large number of things. At the same time, things should not be large, that is, it will not work to dry a duvet cover, trousers or a jacket on it. It is suitable for drying small items such as children's clothes or dresses and sweaters. If the upper tiers are not used, they can be removed.

Ceiling clothes dryer

This type of dryer is installed on the balcony or in the bathroom. It is almost invisible, especially if the ceiling and walls are light. In addition, it does not interfere with the people who live in the apartment. The dryer is attached to the ceiling, and the bars are attached to the wall. With the help of these rods, the dryer is lowered and wet clothes are hung on it. After that, it can be raised back to the ceiling or left in the lowered position. When the clothes are dry, the dryer is raised to the ceiling and it does not interfere with anyone.

It is best that there is a large distance between the rods, and the rods themselves are dense. In this case, you can be sure that they will not get tangled or torn. The dryer itself is made of aluminum or steel. Therefore, it is believed that these are the most durable and reliable clothes dryers.

Separately, it is worth highlighting electric clothes dryers. This type of dryer is ideal for drying any clothes, both small and light, and overall, such as jackets.

Today, electric dryers are popular among people. The advantage of the electric dryer can be called the size, thanks to which it does not take up much space. The dryer consists of several knitting needles of different sizes. Large needles are for bulky items, while small ones are for small and light items. There is an electric dryer in the form of a ladder. You can dry different things on it.

During operation, the electric dryer makes a little noise, but at the same time, things will be dry in 2-3 hours. In order for things to dry quickly, the power of the device must be at least 70 watts. In addition, the dryer must have a temperature controller and several modes of operation. This allows you to dry both a woolen jacket and a silk blouse quickly and without harm to the fabric.

What to look for when choosing a dryer?

When choosing a clothes dryer, the first thing you should pay attention to is the material of manufacture. In no case should you buy plastic dryers. This material is not reliable, it bends under the weight of clothing and breaks easily. Plastic elements can, of course, be present in the dryer, but in the form of, for example, caps.

High-quality and reliable dryers are made of stainless steel. The material withstands heavy loads and does not rust, unlike aluminum. This material also withstands large items, but rust spots can remain on them due to oxidation.

When choosing floor dryers, attention should be paid to the legs. They should be padded with rubber pads so that the dryer does not slip on the floor.

The next point that you should pay attention to when choosing a dryer is the top coat. It can be enamel or chrome. The enamel coating cannot be called high-quality, because it exfoliates and its pieces can end up on clothes. The chrome finish adheres better to the surface. At the same time, it is covered with an anti-corrosion layer, which improves its quality. With a chrome finish, dryers are only available in gray.

In addition, it is worth paying attention to the distance between the bars. The optimal distance between them should be 6-8 cm. If it is less, then the clothes will not dry well, and if more, then the space will not be rationally used.

How to choose a clothes dryer?

Choosing one or another type of dryer is based on the place of its application. If the dryer will be installed in the bathroom, then you should choose wall-mounted dryers. If the height of the ceilings in the bathroom allows, then you can purchase a ceiling dryer. If a room will be used to dry clothes, then you need to buy a floor dryer. Ceiling dryers are more suitable for balconies.

What is the best clothes dryer?

It is rather difficult to name a good dryer specifically. Each of them has its own purpose. Of course, it is best to use a ceiling dryer. It does not take up much space, it is not visible, and more things are placed on it than on the floor or wall. At the same time, it can be used as the main device for drying clothes. Whereas wall and floor views can not always be used as the main place for drying things, and especially large sizes. Such dryers are more used as additional devices for drying small items.

Main manufacturers and prices

There are many companies that manufacture dryers. Each of them is designed for a specific buyer. Someone offers a cheap and not very high-quality product, and someone lures buyers with good quality, but the price of the dryer is high.

Floor dryers are manufactured by Binex, Casa Si, Eurogold, Gimi, Meliconi and Ocean Dryers. All firms, except Meliconi, produce dryers with an affordable price - 500-2500 rubles. Whereas Meliconi offers table top dryers with several tiers and made of high quality material. Their price starts from 3600 rubles and can reach up to 15000 rubles.

Wall dryers are recognized as the cheapest devices. Among the manufacturers of dryers, it is worth highlighting Gimi and Familia. Their cost varies between 1100 - 1800 rubles.

Ceiling dryers are produced by Comfort Alumin, Familia and Filplast brands. Their cost is 830 - 3500 rubles.

How to use and care for the dryer?

To use a dryer, especially an electric dryer, it is worth reading the instructions. Only in this case it is possible to correctly install the structure and the operation of the device depends on this. If the dryer falls, you will have to wash things again. In the worst case, if the dryer falls, one of the household members will suffer.

Dryer should be cleaned after every use. A damp surface is the best environment for the development of germs and bacteria.

If rust is found on the strings, then it should be immediately treated with an anti-corrosion agent or replaced with new ones.

To hang things on the dryer, they stand in front of this and unscrew them well. Excess moisture on things is an additional load on the rods.

Do not ignore the purchase of a clothes dryer. This thing is always useful in the household, especially when there are small children in the house and washing is a constant process for mom.

Floor dryer for balcony Balcony outdoor dryer Ceiling electric dryer for a loggia

The main types of dryers for balconies and loggias

Drying clothes in a city apartment causes a lot of problems. The most popular way to solve it is to use the space of the balcony and loggia. Ordinary clotheslines are a thing of the past: compact and modern clothes dryers have taken their place. Dryers for balconies and loggias differ in size, maximum allowable weight of linen and method of attachment.

Ceiling dryers are installed on balconies and loggias most often. They are attached to the ceiling and do not take up free space. Wall dryers are fixed on the surface of the walls and equipped with a sliding mechanism. Floor dryers - withstand heavy weight of laundry and are installed on the floor of the balcony and loggia. Electric dryers - work from a network with a voltage of 220V and reduce the time of drying clothes due to heating. You can get acquainted with all types of dryers for balconies and loggias in the photo and video in the gallery. We will consider each type of dryer in more detail later in thematic blocks.

Ceiling dryers for balconies and loggias

Our review starts with ceiling dryers. Ceiling clothes dryers are used on balconies and loggias most often. By their design, they are a rigid frame with metal rails with anti-corrosion coating.

Cords are pulled from them, passed through the roller mechanism of the ceiling dryer for the balcony and loggia. Additionally, the dryer is equipped with a latch that allows you to lower and raise the slats. Advantages of ceiling dryers for balconies and loggias: affordable price (600-1000 rubles), compact size. Disadvantages: the dryer can withstand a weight of no more than 6 kg, it is inconvenient to hang small things on thick crossbars. After viewing photos and videos about ceiling dryers for balconies and loggias, we will move on to an overview of the wall modification.

Wall dryer for loggias and balconies

Wall dryers are attached to the surface of the walls of balconies and loggias. They are designed for spacious rooms with a large width. The most practical models are inertial wall dryers. They consist of a compact housing fixed to the wall.

Inside is a spring-loaded drum with coils of rope. To fix them, hooks are installed on the opposite wall. Another type of wall-mounted dryers for loggias and balconies is multi-tiered dryers. They allow you to dry many more clothes at the same time. Advantages: low price (700-1200 rubles), can withstand weight up to 10 kg (console options). Disadvantages: ropes sag over time. You can learn more about wall-mounted balcony dryers in the photo and video materials in the gallery.

Floor dryer for balconies and loggias

The next model in our review is a floor dryer for balconies and loggias. The floor model is a folding structure that can be installed anywhere on your balcony or loggia, and after use it can be folded and put away in a secluded place. The dimensions and load capacity of the dryer depend on the specific model.

Some of them are equipped with wheels that allow you to easily move the dryer on the floor without harming the flooring. Advantages: withstand a mass of laundry of 10 or more kg, light weight, ease of use, affordable price (1500-3000 rubles). Disadvantages: before using the balcony floor dryer, it must be removed from storage places and decomposed, large dimensions (compared to ceiling and wall options). You can get acquainted with floor dryers for balconies and loggias in the photo and video materials in our gallery.

Outdoor dryer for loggia and balcony

Outdoor dryers are located on the street side of the balcony or loggia. By design, they are 2 metal corners with roller mechanisms fixed to them. Between the corners is a clothesline. Thanks to the roller mechanism, the ropes can be moved to hang clothes from an open window.

Advantages of an outdoor dryer for balconies and loggias: wet laundry is dried outside the apartment, thanks to the placement of the dryer at the parapet level, the view from the window does not deteriorate, the laundry is dried at no additional cost due to wind and solar radiation, affordable price (1000 rubles). Disadvantages: laundry hung on an outdoor dryer from a loggia or balcony accumulates street dust, a fire is possible when a cigarette butt falls from the upper floors, increased drying time for laundry in winter. You can get acquainted with the appearance of the outdoor dryer in the photo and video in the gallery.

In the traditional arrangement, laundry is dried by heated rods. Drying covers for balconies and loggias dry clothes due to directed heated air. Clothes can be hung on hangers inside the dryer and save time on ironing. Advantages of electric dryers for balconies and loggias: the linen dries in 2-3 hours, it dries well both small children's things and woolen products, the heating temperature of the rods is only 50 degrees. Disadvantages of electric dryers: they require compliance with fire safety rules, consume electricity (about 1 kW per hour), require an outlet on a balcony or loggia, high price (1500-9000 rubles). You can get acquainted with electric dryers for balconies and loggias in the photo and video in the gallery.

This block allows you to calculate the cost of glazing and overhaul of balconies and loggias. Specify the area of the room and the dimensions of the glazing to get the results. After the calculations, you will receive a list of prices for windows and repairs, ranging from cheap to expensive options.
Best of all, electric dryers cope with the functions of drying clothes on balconies and loggias. But for the speed of drying, you have to pay with dimensions, a high price and energy costs. Which option to choose - it's up to you!

In order to comfortably dry washed clothes, a lot of devices have been invented today. They occupy a minimum of space, are able to withstand heavy loads and can be almost invisible to the eye. In this article, varieties of clothes dryers will be presented, their features will also be considered.

Types and features

According to the type of construction, all dryers are divided into simple (without additional mechanisms), folding (with special shutters, with which you can increase the area for hanging) and sliding / retractable (built-in grooves allow you to quickly move the dryer apart).

And according to the place of attachment, the dryers can be divided into wall, floor and ceiling. There are also portable models that can be placed anywhere.

wall

Wall dryers are the most popular product option. When installing, you need to make sure that the wall is strong and leave enough space for unfolding the dryer. Not all models provide for a large load, but almost all provide an opportunity to save space.

There are many types of wall dryers:

  • inertial folding;
  • in the form of an accordion;
  • telescopic;
  • elevator type dryers;
  • folding;
  • stationary.

Inertial folding dryers are two parts installed opposite each other on the walls. The spool of rope is attached to one, the hooks to the other. The ropes must be pulled out and secured to the hooks. In the folded position, such a model takes up almost no space, and when disassembled, it can accommodate a lot of laundry.

The accordion-type dryer is attached to one wall and, if necessary, moves apart according to the accordion principle. The role of the ropes in such a dryer is performed by thin tubes that do not leave creases on the dried laundry. The number of these tubes varies from 5 to 10 pieces. Often the dimensions of such models are not suitable for drying bed linen. Products are installed in bathrooms, they are very compact when assembled.

Telescopic dryers are extended using a different mechanism. Such models can be extended fully or halfway. They are designed to dry light items such as socks, T-shirts, shirts.

The lift type dryer is the most versatile. Often it is placed on the balcony or in the bathroom. It takes up little space, but it can accommodate a lot of clothes. Such a dryer is rather a wall-ceiling dryer, because some of its parts can be attached to the ceiling. The design is as follows: two strips with metal tubes are attached to the wall, thanks to a special mechanism, these tubes can be lowered to the desired level, and then raised with hanging laundry.

Such a dryer allows you to hang things on different levels, so that they are better ventilated. The mechanism can withstand up to 25 kg of clothing, for which it is considered the most durable and comfortable.

The folding dryer also supports a decent weight, but has a slightly different design. It can recline at any angle. Folding or unfolding takes seconds, and you can choose the number and width of the partitions yourself. Often the design is placed in the bathroom or on the balcony.

A stationary wall dryer is the most common option. It consists of two planks attached to opposite walls. Ropes are strung between them. It is most convenient to equip such a device on the balcony. The length of the ropes depends on the dimensions of the balcony, it will also be equal to the length of the ceiling.

There is also a roller dryer, with which you can greatly facilitate the process of hanging clothes. A roller system is placed in the slats, which allows you to pull the rope, thereby moving it along the hanging.

Ceiling

Ceiling dryers have more complex mechanisms than wall dryers and are less commonly used. Their main advantage is space saving. The design and size of such dryers can be made absolutely any.

There are several types:

  • The dryer "liana" or "elevator" has tubes for hanging, which were described above.
  • The ceiling harmonica has the same mechanism as the wall model, only it is fixed to the ceiling. They can use both ropes and tubes.

  • Suspended. It is designed for drying light clothes and has a very primitive device: a hook with a bar, on which clothespins can be additionally attached. Usually these are short-lived models made of plastic, but there are more reliable variations made of metal and wood.

floor standing

Floor folding dryers are mobile and can be placed in any room. In addition, when folded, they take up minimal space. The configuration of such models can be completely different. But the main elements are unchanged: a frame (of various shapes), fixed legs attached to it and a latch that does not allow the dryer to suddenly collapse. Some models have wheels for easy movement.

Floor dryers have many important advantages:

  • There is no need to install and assemble the structure, you can start using it immediately after purchase.
  • In the folded position, the dryer takes up very little space and can fit in a pantry or closet. For small apartments, this is a significant plus.
  • Most models can withstand heavy loads.
  • Standard models can be purchased at a fairly low price.
  • Constructions made of high-quality materials can serve for many years even with frequent use.
  • Lightweight design makes it easy to carry when needed.

The disadvantages include only a long process of drying clothes. This can be reduced by placing the dryer in a well-ventilated area.

Floor dryers can be vertical. In them, the planes with ropes are located one above the other. Their height can be adjusted and up to two meters. Such models are called whatnots, they are often installed in showers.

Portable

Portable dryers are suitable for small apartments (rooms). They are convenient due to their compactness and can be installed on a battery, bath, door, cabinet. The only negative is that you won’t be able to dry a lot of things at once.

Electrical

If there is a need for quick drying, electric models are perfect. In them, the process is faster, compared with rope structures, due to heating.

Electric bathroom clothes dryers are very popular these days. The design does not need to be connected to a hot water supply, unlike a standard towel dryer (coil). You only need access to the network.

The main feature of the electric dryer is the heating element, which is in mineral or natural oil. Other liquids may also be used. The main thing is that it conducts heat well.

Thanks to the oil, the tubes warm up evenly, and wet things dry very quickly.

Owners of such models highlight the following advantages:

  • Linen acquires a pleasant aroma after drying.
  • The heating temperature can be adjusted.
  • You can purchase a model with an ultraviolet lamp or an ionizer in the package.
  • You can mount the dryer anywhere in the bathroom, because its device is not connected to the pipeline and does not depend on the supply of hot water.
  • The operating time is adjusted manually.
  • The temperature inside the tubes does not rise above 60 degrees. This allows you to gently dry delicate fabrics and not burn yourself when touched.
  • An electric dryer can be useful as an additional heat source.

Of course, some fabrics cannot be dried in such devices. But this is often written on the tag of the thing.

The disadvantages include only the consumption of electricity, but many note that the advantages of the device compensate for this nuance.

Bath dryers

There are miniature models of dryers that need to be installed directly on the bath. Usually they have rubber tips on the legs, which fix the structure well and prevent it from rolling off the edges.

By principle, such a dryer is similar to a sliding floor model, only after use it is removed. They are also called umbrella models. On average, they can withstand up to 10 kilograms of wet clothes.

Dryers on the battery

Such miniature options are well suited for drying small items for the entire heating season. The heat from the batteries dries fairly quickly without any cost. Battery dryers can replace the electric model in winter. They are small and can be stored anywhere.

The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing such a dryer is the mechanism for attaching to the radiator. Many apartments still have old-style batteries in the form of an accordion, and not every one of them is suitable for mounting a similar design. First you need to measure the battery and compare its length with the length of the dryer. It is also worth considering that a low-quality dryer can deteriorate under the influence of high temperature emanating from the battery.

drum dryer

Outwardly, such a dryer is very similar to a conventional washing machine. The mechanism includes a drum in which the laundry is dried. Tumble dryers dry faster than all other types - from 30 minutes to an hour. But there is a caveat: clothes and linen after such drying will be very wrinkled, and it will be more difficult to smooth them out.

Another controversial issue is the need to connect the drum dryer to the sewer system in order to be able to remove moisture. This requires additional financial costs and the involvement of specialists.

Mounting methods

If we consider models based on the method of their attachment, then there are few options. The design can be built into the wall, suspended from the ceiling, or be mobile.

Hanging dryer

The design consists of plastic tubes, inside of which ropes are stretched. The dryer is attached to the ceiling, and the slats are easily lowered to hang clothes and then raised by pulling the necessary ropes. The mechanism can be fixed both above the bathtub and on the balcony.

Stationary dryer

The easiest option for self-production: the required number of hooks are attached to opposite walls, and clotheslines are pulled between them. The tension can always be adjusted.

Any model that is attached to the wall (panels) and does not move can be classified as stationary. For those who do not like the suspended ceiling system, they came up with balcony hangers that are removed from the hooks after the laundry has dried.

materials

The material from which the dryer is made is of great importance. The service life of the product, its strength and susceptibility to moisture depend on it. There are some of the most common options:

  • aluminum dryers. They are light but not strong enough. To prevent the aluminum from turning black over time, manufacturers cover the models with a layer of polymer. But this coating, as practice shows, cracks after a while.
  • Dryers made of stainless steel. This material is ideal for such structures. Moreover, both the body and the strings can be made of steel. It is very strong and durable. The disadvantages include its large weight (which will increase stability for floor models) and cost.

  • Plastic dryers. The plastic version will not last long, but it is good for its cheapness and lightness. Often, models are used to dry light items (socks or underwear).

  • Wooden dryers. From an aesthetic point of view, these are the most stylish models. But to extend their service life, the board must be regularly covered with protective solutions.
  • Combined. Multi-material dryers are less common and often homemade.

How to do it yourself?

If the apartment has the necessary tools, then the dryer can be assembled by yourself.

Here is a step-by-step instruction for manufacturing the simplest design:

  • First you need to attach two wooden planks to opposite walls (for example, on a balcony).
  • Then you need to screw the screw rings into these strips. For each rope, you will need two pieces (one on each side). The number of rings in a row depends on personal wishes and the length of the slats.
  • In order for the screws to fit well, you must first make holes for them. The diameter should be slightly smaller than the screws themselves. These holes must be thoroughly cleaned before screwing in.
  • If gaps remain near the screws, they must be repaired in order to increase the strength of the entire structure.

For a homemade dryer of this type, you can not cut the rope into pieces, but simply take a whole one and stretch it through all the rings. Before starting, it is important to carefully inspect the walls of the balcony for cracks and voids. If they are, they must be repaired, otherwise wet linen may one day outweigh, and the entire structure will collapse. It is also advisable to make markings on the walls, given the future location of the dryer.

It can take an hour and a half to make and only requires a piece of string, a couple of wooden planks and about ten screws. Any housewife will cope with such work.

Making a folding dryer will be more difficult. But, following the step-by-step instructions, you can do it pretty quickly. For such a design, you will need wooden planks, rods, a sheet of plywood or drywall, furniture hinges, hooks, fasteners and paint.

Procedure:

  • First you need to drill holes in the opposite frame parts, which will be equal in diameter to the cross section of the rods.
  • The rods are inserted into the holes. At the ends, they can be thinned in order to make it more convenient to fix them.
  • Next, you need to assemble the frame by fastening the elements together with nails.
  • The base of the dryer is being prepared, which should be 12-15 cm larger than the frame in length and width.
  • The bottom bar of the frame must be attached to the base using furniture hinges.
  • Then the entire structure must be painted with water-based paint and wait for complete drying.

  • On the side opposite from the hinges, a latch is attached for fixing.
  • A folding structure is installed. It is important to determine the optimal angle for the mechanism so that the cot does not take up too much space.
  • Next you need to hang the hooks for small things on the side of the frame.
  • The dryer is attached to the wall with screws.

You can decorate the product by painting the rods in different colors. It is important to choose shades that will be in harmony with the design of the entire room / balcony.

You can also make a floor dryer with your own hands, which in its design is very similar to a table-book. It may seem that such a design is quite difficult to make, but it is not.

For manufacturing you will need:

  • chipboard or MDF boards lined with plastic (two side - 60 by 20 cm and two top and bottom - 70 by 20 cm);
  • self-tapping screws;
  • any parts that act as handles;
  • steel pipes for hanging clothes (20 by 2 mm and 18 by 2 mm);
  • stainless steel rods (10-12 pcs);
  • steel pipes for a support that will recline (6 pcs);
  • steel pipes for the frame (4 pcs of 60 cm and 4 pcs of 70 cm);
  • steel pipe 18 by 2 mm;
  • nuts;
  • corners (4 pcs);
  • wheels (4 pcs).

Procedure:

  • The boards that form the future frame must be fixed to each other using steel corners and self-tapping screws.
  • Wheels are mounted to the bottom of the structure.
  • Next, you need to connect the entire body with ties on the top. For the manufacture of the frame and body will need hinges.
  • The next step is to connect the rods and the frame. It is important to maintain the same distance between the parts.

It is advisable to paint the assembled dryer to avoid rust. The structure will regularly be in contact with moisture, it is important to extend its service life with the help of painting. First, the entire surface must be degreased (for example, with acetone) and coated with a primer. The best option would be automotive or acrylic paint applied in two layers.

Such a product can be put in the bathroom, in the kitchen or in any living room. If necessary, it can be folded and removed in a matter of seconds.

How to make a clothes dryer with your own hands from wood, see the following video.

Which is better?

You can highlight the main characteristics that you should pay attention to when buying a clothes dryer:

  • Working surface area. It is the sum of the lengths of all the rods (ropes) in the unfolded state. The higher this value, the more massive and expensive the model will be.
  • The number of rods (ropes). Their number determines the width of the model.
  • The presence of tiers and their number. Multi-tiered designs allow you to place a lot of laundry at a time and save space. But their cost will be corresponding.
  • Maximum load. This indicator is determined by the type of design and material of manufacture. Accordingly, the greater the load the model can withstand, the longer it will last. The simplest wall-mounted dryers usually hold about 7-10 kg of things, and floor-mounted folding and "lianas" - up to 25 kg.
  • Additional details. These include transport rollers for floor structures, which facilitate their movement. Wheels are usually made of rubber or plastic.

Rubber-coated plastic wheels are more practical because they won't leave marks on the floor. A latch should be attached to them so that after moving the dryer does not roll away anywhere.

  • The presence of compartments for drying shoes. Standard dryers with large string spacing are not very good for shoe placement. Therefore, if you plan to dry your shoes every day, you should take care of the presence of such compartments in advance.
  • When choosing a dryer, you need to clearly know the future place of its installation. For balconies, "lianas" and conventional ceiling mechanisms are more suitable. For placement in the room - floor dryers.
  • It is important when buying to pay attention to the quality of fasteners and ropes. These are the details on which the strength of the structure and its service life directly depend.

Attention should be paid not only to the material and size of the dryer, but also to its design. It is clear that this thing is completely household, but modern manufacturers sometimes make it out as a full-fledged element of decor, so that it is not immediately possible to guess about its intended purpose.

If the place for the location of the dryer is a closed balcony, then some factors must be taken into account in advance:

  • dimensions of the balcony and its heating;
  • the maximum weight of the laundry to be dried;
  • material for wall and ceiling decoration, repair features.

If it is rather cold on the balcony, then you should not mount the structure very close to the ceiling, otherwise the clothes will freeze. The thickness and quality of the fasteners directly depends on the weight of the things that will be dried. For light clothing, ordinary ropes and a plastic base are suitable. For blankets or winter clothes, you need thick ropes and a metal frame.

The material from which the house is built also matters. The fact is that it is quite difficult to make ceiling holes in panel buildings, and special nuts will be required for concrete walls.

The following rules must be observed when using dryers:

  • If you plan to hang heavy bedding on the ceiling dryer, then you should not opt for models with aluminum slats. Most likely, they will not withstand the loads and simply bend.
  • Before the final installation of the dryer on the balcony, you can fully open the windows and check whether they will touch the hanging laundry in the future. This is true for owners of spacious balconies in which this can be avoided.
  • After each use, the entire structure of the dryer must be wiped first with a damp cloth, then dry.
  • If the dimensions of the apartment or bathroom are very small, then you should pay attention to vertical dryers. They do not leave scratches on the floor, occupy a minimum of space, and are easy to assemble.
  • It is important to thoroughly wring out the laundry before hanging it up. This will reduce the load on the dryer and protect the floor from water that may drip from the clothes.
  • Rust may appear on metal structures with frequent use. At its first signs, it is necessary to immediately treat this place with an anti-corrosion solution, but it is better to lubricate the entire dryer.

  • When buying a dryer, it is very important to consider the distance between the ropes (rods, tubes). The greater this distance, the faster the laundry will dry and it will be more convenient to hang it. The optimal distance can be called 7-9 mm. If this value is less, things will touch each other, and this will significantly increase the time for their complete drying. In addition, some things shed, and they need to be hung separately.
  • It is not recommended to buy a dryer whose bars are attached by welding, because this most often leads to corrosion. An excellent alternative would be rolling and plastic caps at the joints. With such a system, puffs will not form on clothes.
  • If you do not plan to clean the dryer for a long time, then you can make sure that it fits into the interior of the room by choosing the color of the model for tiles, furniture or curtains.
  • Another nice bonus is that drying things indoors in winter moisturizes the air well.

  • To prolong the life of your dryer, it is important to monitor how the ropes are worn or structural parts fail. This is especially true for plastic models, which wear out much faster than metal ones. A good manufacturer will make parts subject to wear in such a way that they are easy to replace.
  • The most common malfunctions are bracket deformation and gear wear. Again, this is very common with plastic models. You can buy similar parts and repair yourself. Of the tools you need only pliers and a screwdriver.
  • To replace the roller wheel, you need to pull out the pin that holds it. The new gear must be fixed with the same rod.
  • Replacing the cords is a breeze: they slide through the bracket just as easily as they did when they were originally assembled.
  • If a creak is periodically heard when using the dryer, then it will not be superfluous to lubricate the friction points with technical oil. It is only important not to overdo it with it and wipe off the remnants so as not to stain clothes.
  • The problem of a broken bracket is most easily solved by purchasing a new dryer.
  • If you can’t fix the dryer yourself, you can trust experienced craftsmen. They will quickly pick up the right part and save time.

  • If you have a lot of clothes made of delicate fabrics in your wardrobe, you should pay attention to electric dryers with a built-in thermostat. In this way, the risk of damage can be reduced to a minimum.
  • If there is a need for drying hats, when choosing a model, pay attention to the presence of additional holders for small items.
  • Some models even provide an air ionization function. For this, an ultraviolet lamp is built into the design.
  • Although manufacturers assure the complete safety of their products, it is better to play it safe and not allow children to turn electric models on and off on their own. But often the maximum temperature of such models does not exceed 60 degrees, and there is no risk of getting burned.
  • If you plan to place an electric dryer on a balcony, then you should first waterproof it in order to prevent moisture from entering the mechanism from the outside.
  • When choosing an automatic dryer, you need to pay attention to the marking, which indicates the energy consumption of a particular model. The letter "A" denotes the most economical models, the letter "G" - the most energy-intensive and powerful.

If there is no need for maximum power, the best choice would be a model with an average rating. This will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of the device and not overload the wiring.

  • If the issue of saving space is acute, then you can give preference to installing a dryer outside the apartment, that is, the street version. Often it is installed on the outside of the balcony. This option is not very convenient because:
  • The possibility of drying clothes directly depends on the weather.
  • There is no certainty that clothes will not be blown away by a strong gust of wind
  • From an aesthetic point of view, this design does not decorate the apartment at all.

  • It is important that all available fasteners for the dryer are metal. Many manufacturers make them plastic, but this only saves money on manufacturing and shortens the life of the structure.
  • In a vine-type dryer, the cables can be metal or nylon. And here it is worth making a choice in favor of metal. But if, nevertheless, the choice fell on nylon, then for a long service life they should be no thinner than 3 mm in diameter.
  • In order to understand the design and properly equip it, you need to read the instructions. Even if the manufacturer is foreign, the inserts must be duplicated in Russian. If the instructions are incomprehensible or completely absent, you should think about the integrity of the manufacturer and the quality of the product.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the mounting bolts. Often, the package includes plastic dowels and rather short bolts. With a tube length of more than 1200 mm, the length of the bolts may simply not be enough for reliable fixation. Therefore, when purchasing a massive model, it is better to immediately take care of the strength and buy good anchor bolts.

  • In the care of electric dryers, it is imperative to wipe the edges of the air ducts with a simple cloth (napkin) without the use of detergents and chemicals.
  • Rotation of the tank in a drum dryer can be one-sided or two-sided. The latter ensures uniform drying of clothes and speeds up the drying process itself. It is important that the tank is made of stainless steel or other durable metal, otherwise the dryer will not last long.
  • Each automatic dryer has a filter. Threads, villi, wool and other small details accumulate in it. When choosing, you need to take into account that this filter is easy enough to get out, because it will have to be cleaned regularly by hand.
  • Some automatic dryers even have an ironing mode. Things rotate in the drum in a certain way, are blown with cold air and come out of the dryer completely ready for use.

Manufacturers and reviews

It is easier to decide on a suitable option after familiarizing yourself with the most popular models of the best manufacturers. Pay attention to the detailed characteristics of high-quality dryers with different functionality.

Gimi Lift 160

This wall-to-ceiling dryer will help you make the most of the space above the bathroom. It has a fairly solid frame and reliable fasteners. Production material - stainless steel (brackets and rods), plastic (rollers) and textiles (cords for hanging). This model does not need special care, it is enough just to wipe it occasionally. Humidity is not terrible for her, so many install it in the bathroom.

Brackets are attached to the wall or ceiling. The roller mechanism allows you to quickly and easily hang clothes by lowering the plastic rods one by one. The total length of the entire surface for linen is 9.5 meters and can accommodate up to 15 kg of linen. After drying, no creases remain on clothes thanks to rods with a diameter of 1.2 cm.

This model is most often fixed in the bathroom, but it is quite suitable for the balcony. The robust construction, when properly installed and maintained, allows the dryer to serve for many years.

Gimi "Dinamik 30"

Floor model made of stainless steel. Suitable for installation in any premises. The total length of steel rails is 27 meters. The package includes sashes that can be opened, thereby increasing the usable surface area. The dryer can be moved apart and hang curtains or bedding.

Protective corners are attached to the legs, which do not allow scratches on the floor. The dimensions of the dryer in the unfolded state are 198 (258) cm by 57 cm by 102 cm. When folded, they are 116 cm by 57 cm by 10.5 cm.

Gimi Extension

Another variation of the floor model from the manufacturer Gimi. The dryer is equipped with a telescopic sliding system, wheels and plastic holders for small items. An impressive indicator of the maximum load is 25 kg, the total value of the working rails is 20 meters. The model is made of stainless steel with a polymer coating and weighs 5.35 kg. The dryer folds easily and does not take up much space when assembled.

Eurogold EK Stabilo

This model is chosen by those who often wash and dry a lot of things. It is especially relevant for a large family, where laundry becomes a daily activity. This dryer belongs to floor structures and has a folding mechanism. It can be installed in any corner of the apartment.

The design consists of three main elements: a central large compartment, including 8 strong rods, and two compartments at the edges for hanging smaller items (each has 5 rods).

The useful length of this model is 16 m, and the maximum load is 20 kg. The metal structure will not sag under the weight of wet laundry. There are also a couple of plastic parts in the package, but they are placed on legs and perform the function of protecting the floor from scratches. Dryer dimensions - 128 cm by 55 cm by 101 cm.

Residents of large apartments do not need to think about where the clothes dryer can be placed, since the interior space allows you to put it both on the balcony and in the kitchen, living room, hallway, bathroom if it has a square shape and a place to place it. The problem is with the owners of small apartments, where every meter is important, and the main area is occupied by the already necessary interior items.

Quite often, in apartments of a small area, a place for drying clothes is given to the balcony. There, as a rule, a rope dryer is located. The suspended structure is very convenient in that there is no need to constantly disassemble and assemble it. It does not interfere with the movement and internal organization of space. Today in stores you can find a special rope dryer - this is the so-called removable, exhaust design, when special devices holding the rope are installed on the side ledges. After using such a dryer, the hinged part is removed and attached to the opposite wall. This is necessary so that the rope does not interfere with the passage. This is the meaning of the fact that it is exhaust, which means that it can be deployed for work at any time.

An alternative drying method is a clothes dryer, which is placed on the bath. This is done in the case when it is impossible to install a folding bed in the bathroom itself, since the main place is occupied by a washing machine, a sink and the bath itself. If space in the apartment allows, then a folding rack for drying clothes is placed in any of the rooms. In this article, we will focus on the designs placed in the bathroom.

Varieties

Today, many different designs of clothes dryers are sold in building and interior solutions stores. Different types of hangers will allow you to decide which one you want to see in your bathroom, what essential elements it has and the types of installation.

Among the most popular designs:

  • floor;
  • hinged;
  • wall-mounted (drum on a rope);
  • folding dryer for a bath for clothes;
  • electric, or clothes dryer on a heating radiator.

floor dryer

To understand which one is suitable for a bathroom, it is necessary to take into account many parameters: the size of the room, the needs of the owner, the infrastructure of the room, it is desirable to have a drawing of the room and products.

Selection principles

Manufacturers and consultants of specialized stores recommend making a choice in favor of the design based on some parameters of the room. If we are talking about a balcony, then, of course, you should choose a ceiling rope, if about a room, then a floor rope. In the case of a bathroom, there may be different types:

  • it is important to consider the size of the dryer (width and working area) and how much laundry it can support;
  • you must first decide on the place where the structure will be placed, and only after that make a choice. For example, a dryer in the bathroom, especially for a small room, can be located directly under the ceiling - a hanging, exhaust hanger, as well as a clothes dryer can be placed on a battery. Also very popular is the compact design, when the installation site is a washing machine or the sides of the bath itself;
  • clothes dryer in the bathroom should be made of quality material. When it comes to an accessory that is supposed to dry clothes and which is placed in a humid room, the clothes dryer in the bathroom should be made of metal - steel and aluminum, moisture-resistant polypropylene pipes;
  • if the choice is made in favor of the rope option, then the hanger should be with strong rods that can withstand the heaviest loads;
  • it is important to pay attention to appearance. The clothes dryer should be compatible with the design of the room - experts can suggest ideas, after drawing up a drawing and a plan of the room. For example, metal accessories will harmoniously fit into the interiors of modern, hi-tech, minimalism.

Separately, I would like to dwell on the material of the product. For example, the preferred material - aluminum - may not always be of high quality. This is primarily indicated by the price of the product. It is worth remembering that inexpensive aluminum models are fragile and can be deformed quite easily under the weight of drying clothes, it depends on the type of polypropylene pipes of the product. Such an oxidation rack can leave unpleasant rusty stains on the laundry. Therefore, you should buy bathroom accessories, including a dryer, made of stainless steel - they are stronger and not able to oxidize. The hanger made of polypropylene pipes, due to its material, does not react to liquid in any way and is not deformed.

Often you can find structures made of ordinary steel. If the price of the product is high, then this indicates that a special protective coating has been applied to it, which will prevent the rods from oxidizing. True, it is doubtful that the hanger will last a long time - mechanical influences will lead to the fact that there will be ideas for buying a new product, therefore it is better to choose accessories from durable polypropylene pipes.

Floor dryers

Floor structures are a very popular model for drying clothes at home. Such a product can be put on the balcony, in the room, kitchen, corridor. If the bathroom allows you to put a dryer due to its size, then you should listen to some recommendations.

First, it is worth noting that such a product is a reliable design. The sliding dryer consists of metal rods and looks like a cross-shaped linen stand. Many models have additional modules that allow you to expand the working surface of the product. As a rule, we are talking about folding side panels. It is better to hang small items of clothing on them, and take large linen in the middle. Some models have clips on which socks and handkerchiefs are attached.

As for the weight, they have a light construction and do not exceed 3-3.5 kilograms. They are very easy to assemble and disassemble. The sliding model is simply installed against the wall or placed horizontally on any surface or under the sofa. Thus, the issue of its storage is solved and space is saved. The width of the model when folded does not exceed 10 centimeters. When the dryer is disassembled, its length can reach 3 meters, it can withstand the total weight of laundry - 20 kg. To learn more about what are, you can read here.

Dryer racks

One of the varieties of floor models are whatnots. On such products it is impossible to dry long and bulky clothes, but underwear, blouses, T-shirts and children's clothes are very suitable clothes for drying on such portable models. Dryer racks do not take up much space, so they can be placed in not very large bathrooms. By the way, a washing machine or the surface of a closed bathtub are great ideas for placing a bookcase. The best option would be to buy a model that is to be assembled after use. Such a folding thing will become indispensable at home. You can assemble this model yourself - the drawing attached to the product explains everything quite accurately.

Another type of folding floor rack is a roller dryer. It is equipped with castors, easy to move around the floor. This is especially true if there is a need to rearrange it to the other end of the bathroom, if it interferes with movement. The width of such a bookcase varies from 20 cm to a meter.

wall models

Floor options, as mentioned above, are suitable for large bathrooms. If the area does not allow placing impressive models, the washing machine does not interfere, it would be advisable to choose. This built-in model is a sliding structure that folds easily. The retractable part easily shifts to the side, therefore, when folded, the clothes dryer is almost invisible above the bathtub. During drying, the model is adjusted taking into account the number of wet things and extends to the required distance, which, by the way, may not occupy the entire part above the bath.

Clothes dryers above the bath - telescopic drum model. It has the feature of extending links located one above the other. The telescopic structure can be presented in the form of rising pipes, which are attached to the wall with the help of guides. Clothes are hung on such clothes dryers above the bath. Such products are chosen by modern people who value functionality and ease of assembly. But a significant disadvantage of such a model is the small working surface and width, and, consequently, the fact that it will not withstand a lot of laundry. Therefore, as a rule, this type of hangers is chosen by bachelors and students. All these nuances are stated in the instructions for the product.

bath models

There are clothes dryers that are installed directly on the bath. They have legs with a rubber base, which allows you not to roll off the edges of the bathtub and prevent the product from falling.

This is the same sliding design as the floor model, and after use it is removed. You can put it against the wall, hang it, or the washing machine can serve as its storage place. As for the weight that such umbrella models can withstand, it is about 10 kilograms of wet laundry.

Liana

Very popular, especially in small bathrooms, or in other words, a liana, that is, a clothes dryer located above the bath. It is a structure in the form of rods attached to the upper surface of the bath. The links can be raised and lowered using the rods that are attached to them. Due to this mechanism, the hangers were called "lianas". They are considered very practical, durable and compact. The built-in liana looks very aesthetically pleasing in the bathroom.

Ceiling clothes dryer is best placed above the bathroom. This is very practical in that the water from the wet laundry will run into the bath, there is no need to put rags on the floor or supply basins for fear of water leaking.

Portable models

In small bathrooms, small models of clothes drying are especially popular. They can be placed on any surface. Ideal options are a washing machine, bathtub, floor, sink, cabinets and even a laundry basket. Among them are hanging dryers. Unlike models installed on the bath, they are hung on the door, radiator and even on towel holders. Placing products near the pipes helps the laundry dry faster, as they are equipped with quick heating due to the heat located nearby. That is why, to save space, a clothes dryer to a battery is convenient.

Electric hangers

A special place among the accessories for drying clothes in the bathroom is occupied by heated dryers. They are excellent helpers for the hostess, as they allow you to quickly dry washed clothes. This is due to the fact that the rods on which the laundry is hung are heated. As for manufacturing options, it can be represented by several models:

  • floor;
  • wall;
  • ceiling.

Electric floor clothes dryer

Electric wall-mounted clothes dryer

Electric ceiling-mounted clothes dryer

All those models that were discussed above, but with a significant difference, are an automated clothes dryer that does not work in manual mode. An automatic heated dryer, in addition to its function of quickly drying things, can also have such an additional option as disinfection. The ideas of designers and manufacturers have a wide implementation in terms of safety. A number of models are equipped with a germicidal lamp, which allows you to fight any microorganisms in the bathroom. The design of such a drying rack is different. For example, it can be a rack where wet laundry is placed. From above, the rack is closed with a cover, under which warm air penetrates with the help of a fan. Women compare such a mechanism for drying clothes with drying hair with a hair dryer.

When choosing such a product, it is important to carefully read the manual for it. For example, the instructions for electric dryers say that it is unacceptable to place it near heating appliances and pipes. The same item is the washing machine. This is due to the increased risk of overheating of the device. The instructions for such products recommend not to hang the automatic model in the vicinity of a water source. The best option would be to place it on a neutral surface.

Despite such a variety of options, a clothes dryer should be chosen wisely. If the repair in the apartment is still at the planning stage, then it is worth making a drawing of the room, which will indicate the approximate location of the dryer. Ideas on where it will look more profitable and practical can be suggested by various resources and qualified specialists, and then they can be transferred to the drawing. It is important to consider what is the width of the room and the width of the dryer, what design is in the bathroom, the height of the ceilings, the piping and the need to place this part in the bathroom. For example, the need disappears when the washing machine is equipped with a laundry drying function or there is a voluminous heated towel rail on which wet things can be hung, and of course, do not forget that there are convenient clothes dryers above the bathroom.

We have long been accustomed to drying clothes on the balcony or on the street, but this is not always convenient, especially in rainy autumn or frosty winter. In this case, clothes dryers come to the rescue - special designs that are very convenient to use.

The clothes dryer is a small frame with tightly stretched ropes for hanging wet laundry and drying it. But, depending on the type of dryer and manufacturer, dryers can vary significantly. How to choose a clothes dryer so that it is convenient to use it, and the dryer itself lasts longer? We will answer these questions right now, having considered the highest quality and most popular dryers on the market.

Clothes dryer manufacturers

  • Gimi;
  • lift;
  • Leifheit;
  • Hausmann;
  • Liana.

They are the most popular and are presented in specialized outlets in the largest assortment.

Types of clothes dryers

Now, I would like to consider not trademarks, but namely the types of dryers according to the principle of their placement, because today a lot of things have been invented for the sake of our convenience. At the same time, we will find out how these devices are installed.

Ceiling clothes dryer

A classic dryer from a long time ago, but qualitatively modernized, provided with everything necessary for drying clothes - ropes, rods, a special system for adjusting the height level and the distance between the ropes. Most often, it is made of aluminum or steel, which are coated with protective compounds, as well as small plastic parts.

Installation of a ceiling-mounted clothes dryer is very simple, on any ceiling, but preferably, next to the wall, on which the mechanism for adjusting the tension of the ropes and their height is attached. It only takes 4-6 dowels or small anchor bolts to secure the dryer to the ceiling.

Wall mounted clothes dryer

Quite a convenient device, which can be capital or in the form of a prefabricated mechanism. The manufacturing materials are the same as in the previous version, but such a dryer is attached to the wall, for example, above the bathroom or on the side wall of the balcony. Often, such devices are also equipped with adjustment mechanisms, which is very convenient for hanging clothes. You just turn the handle of the mechanism, the ropes are lowered, and you evenly hang clothes on them, then only raise them again to the required height. But, if the dryer is located above the bath, this can not be done so that the water that runs or drips from the laundry gets into the bath and goes down the drain.

Floor dryer

Most often, this is a standard rectangular dryer, or a more practical, folding clothes dryer that has additional “wings” with ropes, making it possible to dry more clothes at a time.

The Gimi floor dryer does not require special installation, it is simply placed where it is convenient and moves freely around the room. It can be moved to another room, put on the balcony, brought back, and when the dryer is not in use, simply fold it and put it, for example, under the wall, behind the closet.

Clothes dryer on the balcony

It can be both wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted, but only intended strictly for placement on the balcony. These dryers are slightly larger, which means they can fit more wet clothes on them. They are installed on anchors that can easily withstand the weight of all linen hung on the ropes.

Balcony clothes dryer can also be of several types - standard and balcony ceiling clothes dryer Liana. The first option is the most common and inexpensive - 2 planks and clotheslines stretched between them for drying clothes. The second one is a little more convenient and practical, since in such a device there are various mechanical adjustments. So, you can pull the clotheslines tighter, lower or raise them, increase or decrease the distance between the ropes.

Features of clothes dryers, or what you should pay attention to

Choosing a clothes dryer is very simple, just try to follow some rules in order to choose a high-quality and durable fixture.

  • First of all, decide on the location of the dryer - a bathroom dryer, a room dryer, a balcony dryer, or, in general, an outdoor clothes dryer.
  • Next, be sure to decide on the type of dryer if you are looking for a home option. That is, pay attention to the possibility of mounting on the wall or on the ceiling.
  • Now, you can go to the manufacturer. For example, the Leifheit wall-mounted clothes dryer or the Gimi wall-mounted clothes dryer are considered pretty good. But, it will be much more correct to choose not the manufacturer, but the quality of the product.
  • So, speaking of quality, it is necessary to recall that almost the entire surface of the dryer will be in a humid environment, which means that the materials for its production should not be afraid of moisture and temperature fluctuations. Painted steel, aluminum or other metal with high-quality protection, plastic and even wood are not bad.
  • And finally, determine how convenient the dryer you have chosen will be for you and the room where the main time will be set.

Question answer

What is the best clothes dryer for a bathroom?

Best of all for the bathroom is a sliding wall-mounted clothes dryer. It does not take up useful free space and is very convenient to use. Hanging a clothes dryer is very simple, and you can do it even after repair, without violating the integrity of the decorative finish.

When choosing a clothes dryer, be sure to pay attention to the build quality, the strength of materials and fasteners, as well as the maximum weight of clothes that its design can withstand.
