Owner reviews ZiD 50-05

ZiD 50-05, 2013

Well, perhaps, let's start - the ZiD 50-05 is exactly the same as the Delta and Orion 100. Well, it will not work for long distances, it is better to put a weak engine on one hundred and ten cubes. The moped is light, very convenient, not very beautiful, the tank is very small, and I personally don’t like the trunk either. There are two places on it, but only if two teenagers sit there, they will fit, and if there are two normal men, then no, and it will be difficult for him to lead them. The front fork is bad, the first thousand kilometers it was just wooden, the rear shock absorbers are bad, I have already changed them, since it’s impossible to ride on those. You need to qualitatively run in, if you go badly, then ZiD 50-05 can be killed for a year. Change everything as written in the instructions. There is little gasoline, which is very convenient. Rides slowly. And there are very bad bolts on it, when I bought it, half of the bolts still had to be tightened. My opinion is a moped for a neat quiet ride. And it's up to you to decide whether to take it or not.

Advantages : eats little gasoline. Not expensive.

disadvantages : bad materials. Not handsome.

Alexey, Cherepovets

ZiD 50-05, 2012

The moped is not bad, the engine capacity is really only 48 cubic meters. see and the ZiD 50-05 does not drive very fast (about 60 km / h), but there are no problems with traffic police. Yes, and I personally bought a moped in 2010, and I will tell you that the engine of this unit is reliable (there have been no breakdowns as such until now). As for the frame of this unit, it doesn’t pull higher than 4 points, since the metal is rather weak and therefore it is advisable not to carry gravity. And so, in general, the unit is good (no worse than the "alpha" and other "Chinese").

Advantages : compared to the "alpha", the patency is better, and not expensive (21-22 thousand rubles).

disadvantages : frame metal is weak. Tires are soft (not off-road).

Alexey, Nizhny Novgorod

ZiD 50-05, 2012

This miracle of technology is produced at the Degtyarev plant. From Lifan brand components. The ZiD 50-05 moped is quite light (up to one hundred kilograms), easy to operate, and economical. Good visibility (two rear-view mirrors). The seat is designed for two riders (only not solid, but separate). Therefore, these vehicles are increasingly popular with the fairer sex. A huge plus is that there is a small trunk on the ZiD 50-05 frame (in front of the driver) and you can put shopping bags on it. The engine is a four-stroke, 48 cc engine that clearly fits into the moped category, which means no driver's license is required. Only a helmet is needed. The moped easily keeps the speed allowed in the settlement (60 km/h). On it you can go to nature, he is not afraid of bad roads. True, I do not advise you to travel long distances, with such a speed of movement (too tiring).

Advantages : maneuverable, easy to operate, economical.

disadvantages : wheels are not interchangeable (different sizes).

Alexander, Novosibirsk

ZiD 50-05, 2013

The first step after buying a ZiD 50-05 is to immediately check all connections (bolts, nuts) and tighten them. You can treat them with silicone grease or WD40, and then you will have a better chance that nothing will unscrew. But after this method, nuts and bolts can boil so that you won’t break it only if you use a liquid wrench. If possible, I advise you to immediately change all the wiring to insulated or something more expensive. It is also better to immediately change all the hoses, the more expensive the better. There is also no protection against dry shifting on the ZiD 50-05, since the gears are located in a circle, you can safely switch from 4th gear to neutral by turning off the engine. But there is also a drawback, because I drive down a country road and turn on 4th gear right away, I have already touched the gearshift lever more than once and switched to 3 or neutral - this is the second, this is not very good for a moped. As I read on the ZiD forums in the 2014 model, this problem has already been eliminated and you can’t switch from 4 to neutral without depressing the clutch. What can I say - the moped is light, the engine is 48 cubic meters, the “maximum speed” on the speedometer is 60 km / h, and on the transmission 80, then a cut-off is triggered. But it’s not realistic to accelerate to 80 on the ZiD 50-05, because. the engine is very weak. A person up to 100 kg pulls calmly, on a good road you can safely accelerate up to 60. A person above 120 kg is already barely pulling. A friend rode a girl on my moped, the total weight was about 120 kg. The moped was no longer confidently accelerating, but still picked up a speed of 60 km. On country roads, the ZiD 50-05 also goes well, but on the sand it can demolish the rear, so I immediately turn on 4th gear and drive quietly as if in a low gear. It is especially good to ride through the mud and not stall. The moped just smells gasoline. How much it consumes, I do not know, but the tank was enough for a long time. Problems for 2 seasons - at first the carburetor sneezed, the neighbor quickly blew it without removing it and set it up. Then he began to twitch when shifting gears, as it turned out the clutch burned out, bought a new one for 1650 rubles.

Advantages : low fuel consumption. Spare parts are always available in the central region.

disadvantages : The Chinese engine cannot be compared with the Soviet one in terms of quality and performance.

Three-wheeled cargo moped ZiD - designed for use in personal households. On paved roads, including dirt roads, a compact cargo tricycle is capable of carrying up to 100 kg of cargo. On straight sections, the vehicle develops a maximum speed of 50 km / h, while with a load, the manufacturer recommends adhering to a speed limit of 30 km / h.

The ZiD 50-02 model is equipped with a Lifan 1P39FMB-C gasoline internal combustion engine, with fuel supply through a carburetor. The engine is cooled by an air cooling system. The power of a single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a volume of 49 cm³ is 2.72 hp. or 2.0 kW. And its average AI-92 fuel consumption is 2.2 liters for every 100 km.

The chassis consists of a welded tubular frame, a front telescopic fork with two spring-hydraulic shock absorbers and an independent pendulum suspension of the rear wheels, also with two spring-hydraulic shock absorbers. The front fork travel is at least 150 mm along the wheel axis, the rear suspension travel, also along the wheel axis, is 50 mm. All three wheels of the moped are spoked.

The tires of the front and rear wheels have a dimension of 2.50 / 85-16 (L-264). Drum-type brakes are made with a separate mechanical drive to the front and rear wheels. The diameter of the brake drums is 125 mm. Torque from the gearbox (final gear) is transmitted to the rear wheels through a chain. The motor is started with an electric or kick starter. The bright headlight illuminates the road well in the dark.

There are 3 gears forward and 1 reverse. The gearbox is located in the same block with the power unit. The driver shifts gears with his foot, and the clutch control is located on the steering wheel. The clutch itself is multi-plate, placed in an oil bath, and the motor transmission is gear.

The three-wheeled moped is equipped with a metal dump truck body with a tailgate. The tailgate simplifies the loading of the tricycle, and the tipper body speeds up unloading. Thus, the process of unloading bulk cargoes, for example, sand, peat, earth, sawdust, gravel, garbage, etc., is simplified as much as possible.

ZiD 50-02 is adapted for Russian road conditions. Thanks to a strong steel frame, the loaded tricycle is stable while driving and withstands loads well, and spring-hydraulic shock absorbers smooth out road irregularities well. All major controls are logically located on the steering wheel. The instrument panel consists of a speedometer, an odometer and control gauges for important operating processes.

The ZiD cargo tricycle is a light and economical utility vehicle with a dump truck body, which is primarily aimed at residents of villages and villages, small towns and urban settlements. Mokik does not take up much storage space and is easy to maintain. The low price makes the Russian moped the most profitable purchase in comparison with Chinese and other imported counterparts.

Machine guns were produced at the Degtyarev plant for a long time, and from the first peaceful year of 1946 there was a conversion to the production of K-125 motorcycles. Already by 1950, powerful motorcycles of the Kovrovets brand were produced. Progress was made in the nineties, when a small displacement motorcycle was released.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50 cubic meters

ZID 50 "Pilot"

Was released in 1995. It was equipped with a fairly strong two-stroke fifty cc engine. The lightweight moped turned out to be very powerful, and could reach speeds of 50 kilometers per hour, while only 2 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers were consumed.

A three-speed gearbox was connected in one piece with the engine. Four years later, a model with a raised front wing was released. And later, the plant pleased with the powerful motorcycle ZiD-50-01, equipped with a lifan engine, in this model a semi-automatic clutch was used.

Based on the ZID 50 "Pilot" model, the cargo ZDK-2.404 was later produced. She was three-wheeled and weighed only 112 kilograms. All specifications were the same as the previous model. was 3 liters per hundred kilometers. The already known lifan engine was installed on it. The model was supplemented with a rear differential.

Since 2000, the plant has been producing ZID 50-01 "Active" . There were no significant differences from previous models. A rather powerful Chinese-made lifan engine was used. The model was distinguished by a beautiful and stylish plastic body kit, similar to the lining of cruisers.

ZID - 36

It was a tiny scooter, which was also foldable. This made it possible to transport it in the trunk of a car and store it on the balcony of a high-rise building. The model was equipped with a powerful engine and developed a speed of up to 35 kilometers per hour. The ZID-36 existed from 1997 to 2007, turned out to be economically unprofitable and was discontinued.

ZID 50 "Arkan"

The first model of a domestic scooter, released in 2000. The advantages of the model include:

  • chassis from a moped ZID - 50 "Pilot";
  • powerful battery;
  • indicators of fuel level, low amount of oil;
  • separate lubrication system

This model differed from foreign models by the presence of a three-speed gearbox. It was mechanical, not CVT. However, it was precisely because of this detail that the scooter was not in demand, although it was sold very inexpensively.

Later, models of scooters with an engine capacity of 50 liters were released. These included "Nika", ZID-50 "Arkan" with a variator, ZID KM.

ZID 50-05 or ZID Lifan 50

Later, the ZID 50-05 model was produced at the Degtyarov Plant. . She was a licensed copy of the famous scooter lifan 50. The Russian model was similar to its Chinese counterpart. Its main advantages include:

  • powerful four-stroke engine brand Lifan 1P39FMA;
  • air cooling of the engine;
  • weight not exceeding 82 kilograms;
  • strong plastic casing, which is not subject to mechanical stress and corrosion;
  • large bright front headlight;
  • the presence of a passenger seat;
  • the presence of spacious trunks for storing things and equipment, located under the driver's seat and dashboard;
  • the presence of a glove box for documents and small things, lockable.

To the features of the ZID 50-05, like the Chinese scooter Lifan 50 , accepted to refer to:

  • a soft saddle that allows you not to get tired from a long road;
  • alloy wheels for wheels;
  • easy to read dashboard;
  • comfortable passenger seat;
  • the presence of handles for which the passenger can hold.

ZID 50-05 and scooter lifan 50 were famous for their:

  • small size;
  • ease of management;
  • increased maneuverability;
  • a high level of security.

Model scooter lifan 50 and its Russian copy are suitable for beginner motorcyclists. Their driving does not require special knowledge, skills or training.

The Lifan 50 scooter is a high-quality and fashionable scooter model that has reached a high level of popularity in the world. ZID 50-05 was also in demand, because it was of high quality and quite cheap.

History of the Plant named after V.A. Degtyarev (ZID) in the city of Kovrov began during the First World War: on August 27, 1916, the construction of the first buildings of the Kovrov machine-gun plant began. In 1946, the first K-125 motorcycles began to be produced in Kovrov, in the 50s - Kovrovets and Voskhod. Well, the first small-capacity motorcycle of the plant appeared only in the 90s.

ZID 50 Pilot (1995-present)

ZID 50 Pilot became the first moped of the plant. It first appeared in 1995 and was equipped with a 3.5-horsepower 50cc 2-stroke engine. He developed 50 km / h and consumed 2.2 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. A small moped weighing 76 kg had a three-speed gearbox, combined in one unit with the engine. In 1999, a batch of mopeds with a raised front fender was released. In 2004, an improved version of the ZiD-50-01 appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a power of 2.72 hp. Interestingly, a semi-automatic clutch was used here, so the clutch handle disappeared.

ZID 50 Cargo (ZDK-2.404) (1995-present)

In addition to the two-wheeled moped ZID 50 Pilot, they also produced a three-wheeled cargo model ZDK-2.404. It got the same 50cc, 3.5hp, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine, but its top speed was only 40km/h. Fuel consumption - 3 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. Weight - 112 kg. In 2004, a version of the ZID 50-02 appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a power of 2.72 hp. Moreover, such a moped could be supplemented with a rear differential.

ZID 50-01 Active (since 2000)

In 2000, another version of the ZID 50 model appeared, which was called "Active". It was equipped with the same 2-stroke ZDK-50 engine, and its main difference was in the original cruiser-style plastic body kit. In 2004, at the same time as ZID 50 Pilot, Aktiv received a Chinese 4-stroke Lifan engine.

ZID 50-05

More recently, the Degtyarev plant began producing a licensed copy of the Chinese Lifan moped under the ZID 50-05 brand. The lightweight and extremely cheap moped is equipped with a 4-stroke LIFAN, 1P39FMA air-cooled carburetor engine. The same is installed on all other models of the "50" family. The double scooter weighs only 82 kg.

ZiD-36 "Bird" (1997-2001)

In 1997, the plant presented its new development - a tiny folding mokik ZID 36 Ptah. Its folding steering wheel and drop-down seat allowed it to be transported in an ordinary passenger car and stored on the balcony. In 2001, the plant began serial production of Birds. It was equipped with a ZDK-36 engine with a working volume of only 36 cm3 and a power of 1.5 hp. Maximum speed - 35 km / h, fuel consumption - 2.8 l / 100 km. Gearbox - two-stage with foot switch. Bird weighed only 35 kg. Overall dimensions - 1400x650x1100 (950) mm. Despite the interesting design, Ptah turned out to be economically unprofitable, and production was curtailed in 2007.

ZID 50 "Arkan" (ZDK-2.501) (2000-2003)

In 2000, the Kovrov Plant produced its first ZID 50 Arkan scooter. He immediately became a sensation at all Russian and even international exhibitions. "Arkan" was made on the already proven chassis of the ZiD 50 Pilot moped, which has already become a bestseller in the Russian market. The scooter absorbed all the most innovative that was available at that time at the factory: a battery, an electric starter, a neutral indicator, a fuel level indicator and an indicator of insufficient oil. An important detail is a separate lubrication system that simplifies refueling. There was one “but” that distinguished the Arkan from foreign analogues: the gearbox here is also from the Pilot, i.e. mechanical three-stage, not a variator, as on all foreign models. In the spring of 2001, the plant produced the first experimental batch of minirollers in the amount of 50 pieces. But the moped went ... In total, until 2003, no more than a thousand of these machines were produced. "Arkan" and Vyatsko-Polyansky "Strizh", although they were cheaper than new foreign scooters, were not in demand. And the main reason was precisely the lack of a variator in the design of scooters.

Concept Models

ZID Alpha-50

In the early 90s, plant engineers began to think about replacing the Pilot. This is how the promising Alfa-50 model with a very original design appeared. The engine on the Alpha-50 remained the same, with a 50 cc power of 3.5 hp, which allowed the moped to accelerate to 50 km / h. Consumption remained at the same level - 2.2 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. Weight - 76 kg. But such a moped did not go into series, and the plant still produces obsolete Pilots.

ZID TURBONE-50 (1993-1998)

From 1993 to 1998 at the Plant. Dyagterev, along with the Pilot's successor, Alfa-50, a moped equipped with a variator was being developed. Mokik was named TURBONE-50, featured an interesting innovative design and could become very popular. But, only 11 pieces were produced. One of the surviving mokiks is in the private collection of Nikolai Tubaev in Kovrov.

ZID 50 Arkan Prototype (1999)

In 1999, a prototype of the Arkan scooter was made with an original plastic body kit. The whole technical novelty was similar to the ZID 50 Pilot mokiku.

Rusak (1999)

Custom mokik "Rusak" was a prototype moped in the style of American cruisers. The entire technical basis was borrowed from the serial ZID-50 Pilot.

Nika (2000)

In 2000, a prototype of Nick's moped was released, which is a ZID-50 Pilot in the enduro style. Mokik received an appropriate body kit and reinforced suspension.

ZID 80 Arkan (2000)

The model of a perspective mokik was created by designer Alexey Bobylev. He received a five-speed gearbox, a front wheel disc brake and a separate lubrication system. It was in the factory museum, after the dissolution of which it was sold into private hands. It is currently in the collection of Vladimir Myachin.

ZID 80 Arkan Custom (2000)

Another promising mockup created by designer Alexey Bobylev. From the ZID 80, Arkan differed in a body kit in the style of American cruisers.

ZID 50 Arkan with CVT (2001)

As already mentioned above, the main reason for the failure of sales of the ZID 50 Arkan scooter was the lack of an automatic transmission in the design. But in 2001, the plant produced a prototype Arkan with a variator, which, unfortunately, never went into production.

ZID 80 (2001)

The mock-up of a promising enduro-style mokik was created by designer A. Kabaev.

ZID KM (2002)

In 2002, a prototype of the ZID KM cross-country motorcycle with the ZDK-50 engine was created.

ATV "Double" (2006)

When things in the motorcycle production of ZiD were so bad that they were ready to build anything, just to get cash, comrades from St. Petersburg turned to SKB. And they asked to implement their long-standing idea - to build a double moped so that you can ride with a passenger, and at the same time not worry about maintaining balance (ideal for drunk drivers - you don’t need “rights” for a fifty dollars). They took "Pilot" as a basis, using a number of nodes from their Tarpan all-terrain vehicle.

The front suspension turned out to be especially original - independent, on trailing arms. Nobody in the world had such a thing, as well as a way to "fix" a passenger - holding onto a motorcycle-type steering wheel. The quad was powered by a Chinese Lifan engine with 2.72 hp, the same one that was installed on the Pilots. The device, named without much imagination "Double", was taken by the customer, paying generously, and taken to St. Petersburg. The further fate of the "Double", unfortunately, is not traced ...

Sports models

ZiD-50-SMB (1998-1999)

The sports mokik ZID-50-SMB for a motoball was a ZID-50 Pilot with a full motoball hitch and gear shifting on the steering wheel. It was intended for athletes aged 11 to 16 years. A small party dispersed to the clubs of the country, and European clubs showed interest, but things did not go any further. Overall dimensions - 1700x980x750 mm. Wheelbase - 1150 mm. Weight - 76 kg. Two-stroke carburetor engine ZDK-50-01 with a working volume of 49.9 cm3 and a power of 4 hp. Gearbox - 3-speed.

ZiD-50XL-Cross (1999)

The prototype of the children's cross mokik ZID-50XL-Cross was created in 1999. It had the same ZDK-50 engine with a power of 3.5 hp. and a 3-speed gearbox from the ZID 50 Pilot. Things did not go beyond the production of prototypes.

ZID-50 Cross (2000)

A variant of a sports body kit for the chassis ZDK-2.103. It was released in a small batch.

ZID Ptakha-NRMF (2003)

A prototype of the children's sports motorcycle "Ptakha" was manufactured by ZID by order of the National Russian Motorcycle Federation in 2003 in a single copy. Specifications are identical to the standard mokiku ZID 36 Ptah.

ZID Pilot 80 NRMF (2003)

A prototype of the children's sports motorcycle "Pilot-80-NRMF" was manufactured at ZiD by order of the National Russian Motorcycle Federation in 2003 in a single copy.

ZID GAS-GAS (2003)

"ZiD-Gas-Gas" was a combination of the running Spanish mokik GAS-GAS EC 50 Rookie and the Kovrov engine ZDK-50. The mokik was made by order of the Russian dealer Gas-Gas. According to the characteristics, the engine of the "Pilot" was similar to the native one, but still they differed - three gears instead of six, air cooling instead of water and the absence of an electric starter. A total of 2 copies were made, one of which is located

ZiD 50 Pilot has been dream of future bikers who dreamed of a two-wheeled steel horse. It is not a motorcycle, and the rights to drive it before the introduction of the "M" category were not required. Now the bike is out of production, but buying a used copy is not difficult.

Design

The moped looks like the little enduro it is. Long-travel suspensions, a raised tail, a muffler placed up, a minimum of plastic - when looking at the photo, it immediately becomes clear that it was created for rough terrain. Of course, the mokik ZiD 50 Pilot cannot be called a full-fledged two-wheeled SUV, but it does an excellent job with country roads and primers.

Specifications ZiD Pilot 50

ZiD Pilot is inferior to all modern analogues, but when it first went on sale, it was head and shoulders above the usual "Karpaty" and "Riga". But its technical characteristics were good for its time, which became the reason for the high popularity of the model.

Engine

Usual 2-stroke air-cooled motor with 2 valves and one spark plug capable of accelerating the ZiD Pilot moped to 60 kilometers per hour. The manufacturer claims a maximum speed of 50 km/h, but this was done so that, according to the documents, the bike met the requirements for mopeds. Engine power - 2.7 horsepower, torque - about 2 Nm.

Transmission

archaic 3 speed gearbox works very well. Unlike Chinese pit bikes, gears are switched like on a motorcycle - the first down, the rest up. The third can be safely turned on already at 30 km / h.

Chassis and brakes

It's hard to come up with something simpler. ZiD Pilot 50 is steel frame, mechanical drum brakes on both wheels and standard suspension, with a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock rear. The suspensions do not differ in high energy intensity, but since the moped is designed for one person, they are enough.

Electronics

Electronic stuffing in Pilot Hardly ever. It doesn't even have a battery! So the light optics is powered directly from generator. There is no electric starter either - if you please, be content with the kickstarter. Everything is simple, even primitive, and therefore very reliable.

Weight and dimensions

Dry weight moped is only 87 kg, and equipped - about 100 kg. Any motorcyclist, even an inexperienced one, can cope with the ZiD 50 Pilot. And thanks to its modest dimensions, the mokik easily makes its way between cars in traffic jams if its owner is brought into the city. But trips on busy roads are best avoided, as the bike clearly lacks power for them.

Controllability

Thanks to its modest weight and compact dimensions, the ZiD 50 01 moped is controlled not just easily, but very easily. You just need to get used to the ease with which it leans, and the steering wheel, which is not too comfortable for long-armed drivers.

Fuel consumption

A 2t motor, by definition, is not economical, and a mokik from the factory. Degtyareva, without hesitation, consumes up to 2.5 liters gasoline per 100 km. The ZiD Lifan version with a 4t engine has lower fuel consumption, and the Chinese replaced the archaic K 39 carburetor with their own, more modern one.

Motorcycle price

You can buy this model for a couple of tens of thousands of rubles, there are enough offers in the secondary market. The old ZiD 50 is sold at all ten thousand, but the condition of the cheapest copies is often deplorable.

Repair and tuning

Even before the plant. Degtyarev was bought by the Chinese, this mokik had enough tuning, which enterprising citizens ordered in the same China. And everything you need for repairs can be found in Russia, and it is inexpensive.

Repair

The moped has several weak points. First, often leaking front fork. The problem is eliminated by replacing the seals and anthers, but when driving over rough terrain, sooner or later it will appear again. Second, native carburetor K39 is not of high quality, and there are often problems with it. Many owners change it to a Chinese counterpart.

Spare parts

Despite the fact that the ZiD 50 moped was discontinued a long time ago, there are practically no problems with finding spare parts. Almost everything you need is easily found in motorcycle shops and markets. The price tag on the parts will make any motorcyclist cry with envy - they are sold almost by weight.

tuning

Rural bikers have adapted to decorate the mokik with various optional improvements, such as new handlebars or windshields, but the main thing is that it has the opportunity to change the piston, increasing the volume. On Aliexpress, and in Russia, you can find 70 cc CPGs that fit perfectly on their own engine. As a result, the moped noticeably increases agility.

Motorcycle modifications

The very first version was called ZiD 50 01, and it is she who is the classic "Pilot". On its basis, a cargo truck was designed modification 50 02, and "Active" - exactly the same mokik, but slightly modified in appearance. And later the bike was replaced by ZiD Lifan, equipped with a Chinese 4-stroke engine and a new transmission.

Advantages and disadvantages

Considering them, we must not forget that we are talking about a simple entry-level bike, produced a decade and a half ago, and designed using the technologies of the last century. For its time, this model was quite good.

Advantages

  • Light weight. Everyone can cope with mokikom.
  • Simple design. Dismantling, repairing, assembling the ZiD moped back is no problem, even if this is your first bike.
  • Reliable engine. The transmission is also no different fragility.
  • Nice pendants. They confidently handle unpaved roads.

disadvantages

  • Lack of passenger footrests. The bike is designed strictly for one person.
  • Weak brakes.
  • Gas tank volume ZiD 50 - only 6 liters.
