This sporty premium crossover made its official debut in 2009, a year after the world premiere of the Original X-Six. This is a luxurious and fast car, it was developed according to the canons of the Sport Activity Coupe ideology, and it can be described as a “coupe-like crossover for active drive”.

Yes - "X6M" is not designed to knead dirt, its main advantages are manifested on the highway, where power, perfected handling and dynamics are required.

The X6 model, which was born in 2008, caused a feeling of uncertainty - the car that opened a new segment turned out to be very "not standard". However, then everything fell into place, because the sales of the coupe-crossover even surpassed the X5. But the release of its M version did not make such a serious impression, because the sporty performance for a coupe, although not quite ordinary, looks quite logical.

The body of the “X6M” is in many ways controversial - it can be said to be a one-of-a-kind four-door coupe with high ground clearance and such a “hot” filling. The appearance of the crossover may be considered by many to be unsuccessful and somewhat stupid, but there is something unusual, original and breakthrough in it! The "charged" X6 looks like a real athlete with pronounced muscles and an aggressive look.

Externally, the BMW X6M definitely cannot be confused with other cars, and its distinctive features are the original body kit with a "breathing" front bumper, swollen wheel arches containing huge M-wheels with a diameter of 20 inches on low-profile wide tires, a family quartet of exhaust pipes, and a more down-to-earth profile due to a ten millimeter lower ground clearance.

In general, the "X-sixth" from the M-division of the Bavarian company evokes a feeling of respect, and when you see it in the rear-view mirror, you involuntarily want to give way. You will not find a second such car - a large sports crossover that has the silhouette of a real four-door coupe. Extraordinary and original!

Now about the external dimensions of the BMW X6M. The length of the car is 4876 mm, height - 1684 mm, width - 1983 mm. It rests on the road surface with four wheels measuring 275/45 R20 at the front and 315/35 R20 at the rear. Between the axles (wheelbase) of the "X-six" there is a distance of 2933 mm, and under the bottom (clearance) - 180 mm.

The interior of the "charged" Bavarian coupe-crossover looks stylish and rich, and its layout almost completely repeats that of the original X6. The differences are perhaps only in the letter "M" on the steering wheel, the "automatic" selector and the backs of the leather seats.

Ergonomic miscalculations simply cannot be found, everything is thought out to the smallest detail. The controls are in the right places, everything is literally perfect, the finishing materials are extremely expensive and natural.

The BMW X6M sports crossover has a four-seater cabin layout. The front seats provide riders with a fairly strong hug due to the developed profile, and optionally, chairs with adjustable side bolsters are available at all. And, of course, they are equipped with heating and ventilation. The back sofa has two seats, separated by a central tunnel. The geometry of boarding for passengers is quite convenient here, however, "air" will be enough only for short people, and all because of the falling roof. Of the pleasant little things, one can note cup holders, containers for various small things and a personal "climate", however, optional.

Of course, the X6M is not the most practical crossover, but it is definitely one of the most spacious sports cars. The luggage compartment volume is 570 liters, and with the backrest folded down - 1450 liters. At the same time, the shape of the cargo compartment is correct, without any flaws, and the floor is completely flat. A narrow spare wheel on a cast disc is hidden under the raised floor.

Specifications. Under the hood of the X6M is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The engine is notable for the fact that a heat-resistant exhaust manifold with several two-channel turbochargers, which pulsates the exhaust gases evenly, is located in the 90-degree camber of the block. The peak output of this unit is 555 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque at 1500 - 5650 rpm. The engine is combined with a 6-band automatic transmission and a proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Up to the first hundred, the "charged X6" literally shoots out in just 4.7 seconds and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 250 km / h (electronically limited). In the combined cycle, the crossover consumes 13.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. It should be noted that the engine meets the environmental requirements of Euro-5.

The suspension on the BMW X6M is completely independent, with rigid silent blocks of the rear subframe and a front double wishbone structure with reinforced springs. The rear suspension is equipped with pneumatic supports that maintain a constant ground clearance regardless of the load.

Options and prices. In the Russian market, the coupe-like crossover BMW X6M (based on "E71") in 2014 is offered at a price of 5,727,000 rubles. Basic equipment includes front and side airbags, heated front seats, premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, adaptive LED headlights, dynamic cruise control, full power accessories, iDrive infotainment system, and many other systems that provide safety and comfort of the driver and passengers. For an additional fee, the car can be equipped with a multimedia system for rear passengers, a rear-view camera, a programmable pre-heater, and more.

The advantages of the BMW X6M are the high quality of interior decoration, a powerful engine, excellent dynamics, excellent handling and road stability, excellent noise insulation and rich equipment. Well, the disadvantages are a somewhat controversial design, expensive maintenance, parts and repairs, as well as a not sufficiently spacious second row of seats.

The pre-styled xDrive35i have supercharged 3.0 N54B30 inline-sixes. An aluminum block, a timing chain, direct injection and, which was unusual for a BMW before 2006, a TwinTurbo turbo with two relatively small snails.
- Injection on N54 with piezo injectors (180-200 euros apiece), which were not very successful. Adventures with them begin already in the region of 100 thousand: uneven revolutions, vibration, difficult start-up, increased consumption - these are all signals to diagnose the power system. The root of evil happens, by the way, not only in injectors - also in high-pressure fuel pumps (it may not even reach the first 100 thousand), ignition coils, spark plugs and even lambda probes. On the X6, it is very expensive to do repairs by typing, so look for competent diagnosticians with a dealer scanner.
- The timing chain on the N54 runs differently. It is worth starting to control stretching already from 100 thousand, but there are cars that departed with their own chain and 200 - it all depends on the style of operation.
- On the post-restyled xDrive35i there are also supercharged 3.0 sixes of the same power (306 hp), but of a different family with the N55B30 index. The bore and stroke, as well as the compression ratio, are the same as on the N54, but the direct injection has also been preserved. The main differences are in the application of the Valvetronic timing system on the N55 (it simply did not fit on the N54), the rejection of piezo injectors in favor of electromagnetic, and also the rejection of a combination of two turbines in favor of one, but with two impellers - TwinScroll.
- It is interesting that electromagnetic injectors cost about the same, but in practice they turned out to be more stable in terms of resource than piezo. The service life of the injection pump is on average higher than that of the N54, but it is also unpredictable - there are cases of its death in 120 thousand, someone drives 200+.
- On the N55, the crankcase ventilation becomes very dirty, because of which the engine can start to eat up oil when the piston rings are in perfect condition.
- The top xDrive50i, both before and after restyling, come with a 4.4-liter V8 with the N63B44 index. Like the N55, it has a twin-scroll turbine, and the output is 408 hp. The cylinder block is silumin. And this is one of the most problematic engines of modern BMWs.
- Until 2011, the N63 had a problem with the piston compression rings, which were sagging and oil leaking. The connecting rod bearings were also weak - they were also updated along with the crankshaft in 2011.
- All BMW engines are very thermally loaded, and the N63 generally breaks all records. The coking of the valves and the tanning of the valve stem seals occurs very quickly here, and after the cylinder head is re-installed, when the "heads" are re-installed, it is elementary to roll up the thread of the delicate silumin block, which makes the joint begin to flow violently. If you see smudges, it can be very bad.
- The direct injection system was constantly being improved: there are at least 3 revisions of the injection pump and 13 (!) Revisions of the piezo injectors. Some of the nozzles did not just stop working, but mercilessly leaked, which in the most advanced cases led to a water hammer with subsequent deformation of the connecting rod in one or several cylinders at once. The conclusion is simple: you need a high-pressure fuel pump and injectors, preferably the latest revision.
- The VANOS phase shifters on the N63, of course, love to leak. And it can also rip off plastic covers from them and chew with a timing chain. The chain, fortunately, does not fly off from this, but lumps of plastic in the cylinder head are not the best option. Diagnostics of the couplings is required.
- The turbines on the N63 are located in the collapse of the block and operate in hellish conditions at temperatures over 300 degrees. The fragility of the turbine cooling pump, as well as the coking of oil inside the oil supply pipes, works to reduce their resource. As a result, the turbines overheat and run dry. In this case, the resource may not exceed 40-50 thousand.
- Against this background, the rest of the problem areas of the N63 seem to be trifles, however: the throttle valves wedge, temperature sensors die, the cooling system pipes and vacuum pipes melt from the hellish heat, and in general everything plastic under the hood does not live long.
- The diesel line consists of two 3.0 inline sixes. M57TU2D30 in two variants of forcing went on machines until spring 2010: xDrive30d (235 hp) and xDrive35d (286 hp). Then, on the 30d, a motor of the new N57D30OL family (245 hp) appeared, and instead of the 35d, the xDrive40d modification appeared with a 306-horsepower N57D30TOP. All these diesels have a lot in common, even if we leave out of the brackets the configuration of the cylinders and the volume. The timing drive here is chain (about 200-250 thousand is the resource of the chain), and the injectors are piezoelectric (they last longer than gasoline ones, 150 thousand or more). Turbines operate at gentle loads, so they run more than 200-250 thousand.
- Later versions of the M57 are already devoid of the problem of early wear of the intake manifold flaps, and in general the engine is surprisingly reliable. On N57, all other things being equal, injection pumps and injectors are more capricious to the quality of fuel, and the crankshaft pulley with a rubber damper is also falling apart - do not forget to check.

The car is built on an extended platform of the X5 model. On installed wheels with a disc diameter of up to 21 inches, the ground clearance (212 mm) is only 50 mm less than that of the X5. In the top-of-the-range xDrive50i, the bmw x6 has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 407 hp. at 5500 rpm. I bought a BMW X6 E71 a few months ago, drove 5 thousand km. The total mileage of the car is 20 thousand km, the car is a dealer. Of the breakdowns: two lower levers and two silent blocks, due to poor roads in Samara, and after the G55AMG I did not calculate the strength of the suspension of this car a little. The BMW X6 E71 has some drawbacks, but there are not many of them - these are dirty trousers in rainy weather. As in the X3 and X5, you get dirty on the threshold when boarding and disembarking. Loud sound when you slam the door, not a very good view. Everything. Pros - not real handling in perfect combination with comfort. The car evokes very positive emotions while driving. Not hard if you throw out the Run Flat tires and put on the soft ones. I had an LC200 and have something to compare with. The work of the box, like all BMWs for 5-plus, goes well on the highway, there is almost no fatigue. And such cars break down in people who do not understand in serious cars and are not technically competent, and if you give the monkey a microscope, it will certainly break it. A car for those who are in love with cars, and do not consider them a means of transportation, for the latter I would recommend Lexus. And yes, cars like the BMW X6 E71 do not buy with the last money.

In my opinion X6 is a high bar, so far there are no competitors in sight. Handling is the trump card of the BMW X6 E71, which cannot be hidden in the sleeve, it manifests itself from the first kilometers of driving, especially when behind 315 at a radius of 20, at 100 km / h in a 90-degree turn, only a squeak of rubber, even the electronics do not intervene yet, which speaks of a margin of safety. A standard luxury car, if it's not a BMW that's not capable of that. If you want to drive quietly, the gearbox imperceptibly clicks gears at 1800-2000 rpm, somewhere under the hood a "six" rumbles and you smoothly swing along the bumps of Russian roads. Therefore, for those who want to drive quickly and comfortably, while collecting the views of women, I want to draw your attention to the X6. I myself suffered for a long time with the choice. Yes, the car is impractical. do not load potatoes, a stroller, fishing rods there, it is not very convenient when boarding - disembarking, roads. Someone said that the BMW X6 E71 is not reliable and expensive to maintain. But at the same time, no one said that the most advanced technologies are concentrated in it, and they, as you know, are always expensive and perhaps damp somewhere, but possession of something exclusive has never been cheap.

I bought a BMW X6 E71 six months ago. I drove about 13 thousand km on it. The last car that came before this, the Mercedes ML 320 CDI 164 body. First of all, I want to say about the exceptional handling of the car. For a crossover, it's great. Gasoline engine 3.0. After the "Mercedes" diesel engine, there is a lack of torque. Still, it was necessary to add and buy a diesel. And it's not even a matter of fuel consumption. But that's a different topic. Very comfortable 21-way seats. With my two-meter height, I don't feel any discomfort. Consumption 10.5-15 on the highway and 15-19 in the city. Now, with a mixed cycle of 50 to 50, about 15 liters. A lot of all sorts of necessary and not very "bells and whistles" (for example, driving a high beam or rubber "ranflet"). The navigator works, but not as we would like, constantly sounds: "Follow the direction signs." Although it brings it pretty accurately. Of the minuses of the BMW X6 E71: very weak suspension. I was in the service station twice. Changed the jet stabilizer struts. And something keeps knocking. But the masters cannot find what. Even for money. Brake discs were damaged over 5000 km. Deep grooves in the disc (stones are caught between the brake pad and the disc). Constructive flaw. Although I have not changed them. In an informal conversation, the master himself said that they themselves are amazed at the number of breakdowns. Although a car with a soul. I want to drive over and over again. Again, I do not live in Moscow with good roads. Perhaps such problems do not arise there. Summary: I'm not going to sell BMW X6 E71. But, before I go to the next BMW in a car dealership, I will think three hundred times.

In general, I am very pleased - the car is just like new, not a single scuff anywhere, the only thing is a couple of chips on the hood. the previous owners lived outside the city. I bought a BMW X6 E71 for $ 37,000. In general, I am very satisfied, thank you. After the purchase, I went to the dealer and did something that was not planned - it cost about 30 thousand - candles, oil, etc. The only thing that did not suit me in the car was some kind of incomprehensible acceleration. You press the gas, she seems to think for a few seconds, and only then drives. I was even upset for a while, but then kind people suggested that I had to take it and reprogram the gas pedal - I’ll do it and the car behaved in a completely different way. Really cool began to go. My consumption is about 14-15 liters, not to say that I drive a lot, but sometimes I press. Everyone scolds BMW for its unreliability, but in fact, you need to buy normal cars and not be greedy for paying for the services of professionals, and preferably already in restyling.

Pros: good handling (albeit without active steering) on ​​good roads, the BMW X6 E71 does not like the track. But the minus of handling is the stiffness of the suspension, sometimes on our roads it is very sorry for it. Really reliable car. Whoever says what - do not listen, the main thing is, look for a good option and not at the lowest price, there is always slag. Plus competent service, good oil and more. Catches glances. All your surroundings are really starting to look at you differently. The car is very high-status and commands respect. Very beautiful.

Now about the cons: because of the rigidity, it is real, sometimes, uncomfortable. Plus, the interior of the BMW X6 E71 itself did not impress me very much - but this, as they say, is not for an amateur and not a roomy trunk, but these are all the little things in life. The engine itself is really good, but it seems to me that it is not for this particular car. I rode on the same diesel 235 horsepower, and that's what is surprising - it goes up to 100 it slower, but it seems that it is much faster. Torque decides. I do not plan to change - I will probably drive another 70-100 thousand. Do not be afraid of BMW, be afraid of these cars in an already pre-killed state. Diagnose well and take diesel.

White BMW X6 E71, Activehybrid. M-Performance body kit. Wide range of tires. 21 castings. For 8 thousand km of car operation, I had only positive feelings. But all the pros have their downsides. Rigid suspension and 21 discs perfectly allow you to feel all the quality of Russian roads with your 5th point. A lot of electronics make the ride pleasant, but small errors always pop up, which themselves disappear. To make a hybrid based on a 5-liter gasoline engine with two turbines is to spit in the face of all Greenpeace's people. One could choose a diesel base. The lack of a starter just pleases. There is no minus here. There are 2 seats in the rear stock. A useless glove compartment and cup holder deprived of the fifth place. I think this is a minus. At many car washes, the X6 is used as a station wagon. So it's cheaper to wash than the X5 SUV. I fill up at gas stations with proven gasoline and a good reputation. For 2 thousand rubles I drive around 400 km around the city (in traffic jams the car becomes a trolleybus). The annual tax is a minus. The car is interesting. Peculiar. Delivers a lot of fun. I have been skating for the second year. I don’t know yet which car will be next. It's hard to decide.

BMW X6, E71 body. Engine 4.4 l, 407 hp I bought a car, almost everything is fine, a little white smoke came out of the chimney after idling. Well, I think we'll fix it, 2 turbines always eat oil. I did not go for diagnostics. To tell the truth, I always bought cars without diagnostics. It was enough to judge by the former owners and the car itself. But not at this time. Ride a week, everything is great. Completed THAT. But a week later the check of the motor caught fire. I had this on a BMW 523 F10. There it was cured by replacing the ignition coils. I came to the service, they said it was necessary to change the candles, coils and nozzles (and this is 130 thousand) - changed. A day later, again the same thing, I arrived, an error on the high and low pressure sensor and on the cylinders - changed. 4 days later again. I changed the service, found a good minder, and then everything became clear. These motors are the most unfortunate in the history of BMW. After disassembling the BMW X6 E71 engine, it turned out that someone had changed the nozzles before me and they forgot to put an O-ring in one, the result was a broken nozzle socket in the engine. Replacing the motor head. Someone will say that it’s just me and they will be right. But when they removed the motor and began to study it, it turned out that the Vanos (chain) had come to an end. In general, now we are sorting out the motor for a week and installing everything new. And then they say, travel for a year and sell, or better immediately. Then I began to find out that all owners of my colleagues have this car in service for 1-2 months a year. Chains and nozzles are their sore spots. And these motors live on average 60 thousand km. These motors are good only if they are driven long distances between cities, in a word, do not stand in constant traffic jams. Change the oil every 7-8 thousand (when operating in the city) and the filter. And periodically anneal on it to enable the system to fry everything. I hope I didn't upset you too much, but maybe I saved your budget and wallet.

I did not work at BMW, did not serve, I have nothing to do with the auto business. So, BMW X6 E71 3.0 twin-turbo (35i), release July 2008, complete set "drum" (without adaptive, active rail, "head-up", "keyless", closers). In the family from the first day to this day, more than 7 years, the mileage is 80 thousand. Serviced by a dealer with an interval of 10 thousand km, the roads in the Urals are very mediocre, worse than in the European part of the Russian Federation, the mileage is 70% of the route. Wheels in winter and summer are 19 inches single-wide. So, for all the time of problems: replacement of the injection pump in the first year of life. I drove to the service from the region on my own. Guarantee. Replacing the bypass belt roller (hummed). 3 thousand rubles. Headlight washer plugs flew out. Someone changed it under warranty, I bought 600 rubles each. piece and painting. Nothing else changed at all, except for the oil and filters. It starts at minus 30. Whether to Urengoy or to Amsterdam I'll drive it right now without question, I have no doubts about the reliability of the BMW X6 E71. Well, if for the rest, then everything was written before me: handling, steering effort, braking - everything is clear, verified, standard. I personally have enough acceleration everywhere, the suspension is stiff (noticeably proportional to the road kill), and people on the Internet do not lie - you have to take it with full minced meat so that it does not hurt excruciatingly. I advise everyone who seeks and chooses to look for living, not wrung out, not wound, not killed specimens and to clean karma - everything will be fine. This is exactly what happened with the BMW X6 auto-crossover in the back of the E71, where the company's engineers used and implemented the most daring auto solutions. Thus, in 2007, the Bavarians presented the world with a new crossover in the back, which combined a four-door hatchback and a coupe, and at the same time also had a large rear trunk lid.

The X6 model was founded and created on the basis of the X5 auto-crossover in the back of the E70, which also began to be produced in the same 2007.

It is worth noting immediately the following here, when the X6 model entered mass production, the BMW company had quite high investment risks at that moment, since it did not know in advance how the public would react to this car, since this SUV (E71) opened on essentially a new class of cars in the entire world car market.

So the management of the Munich company must be given credit for their courage and self-confidence, which were necessary when making the decision to launch a new class of cars.

Thus, eventually, starting in 2007, a new class of sports crossovers with four-door bodies appeared on the world car market. For a long time, the Bavarians had no competitors and they got all the cream of the car market. But over time, competing models gradually began to appear on the car market. True, the latter could not take the market share from BMW and move it.


But recently, the world famous Mercedes-Benz company, apparently waiting for a long time and studying the success of the X6 model car, actually decided to copy this very type of crossover and release its own new one.

Time will show how the competition in this segment will develop further. But regardless of the results of this battle, BMW has certainly already inscribed itself (company name) in the history of the entire auto industry, as the discoverer of a new segment of premium sports crossovers.
