The Ford Mondeo appeared in car showrooms in 1993 and is still in production. The name Mondeo comes from the French word “Monde” - “peace”. The first generation is called Mk I.

This car is available in various versions - a 4-door sedan, a 5-door hatchback and a 5-door station wagon. The equipment is of a high standard. The car doors are reinforced with timber to protect against side collisions, and the design of the seats eliminates “diving.”

The first generation Ford Mondeo was equipped with 4-cylinder petrol engines (Zetec) of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liters. The engine was equipped with the then latest systems of distributed sequential fuel injection and direct ignition (without a distributor), as well as fuel evaporation control systems, exhaust gas recirculation and a three-fraction catalytic converter.

Since September 1994, a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine (Duratec) with a volume of 2.5 liters was installed on cars. This 24-valve engine is compact and lightweight. It was designed and manufactured in the USA, where it was installed on the Ford Countour (similar models for the American market).

Mondeo Mk II

A significant update to Ford Mondeo models took place in October 1996. This modification belongs to the first generation, but is called Mk II. The front and rear parts of the body have changed, the suspension and steering have been modernized, and they are also equipped with an EEC-V engine management system.

The engine is mounted transversely, the transmission is automatic (4-speed) or manual (5-speed) with a cable or hydraulic drive. Fully independent MacPherson-type suspension on all wheels with anti-roll bars.

The steering is equipped with a hydraulic booster. The brake system is also equipped with a vacuum servo booster. Rear brakes are drum, front brakes are disc. On some modifications, front and rear disc brakes with an anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Mondeo Mk III

The second generation Ford Mondeo (Mk III) was produced from 2000 to 2007. There were sedan, hatchback and station wagon modifications. This car is almost 300 mm longer than the first generation. Twice during this period (in 2003 and 2005) the appearance was slightly updated. This model was equipped with gasoline (volume 1.8, 2.0, 2.5 L4 and 3.0 V6) and diesel turbocharged engines (2.0 and 2.2 liters).

This car's new Durashift automatic transmission has 5 gears and can be used in manual mode. The manual transmission has 6 gears.

In 2003, the Mondeo received a larger chrome grille, a new dashboard made from better materials, electronic climate control and steering wheel-mounted automatic transmission controls. Also, an on-board computer and cruise control have become standard for all modifications.

Mondeo Mk IV

The third generation Ford Mondeo (Mk IV) was introduced at the end of 2006. Sales began in May 2007 and continued until 2014. There were five different trims - Edge, Zetec, Ghia, Titanium and Titanium X.

The new platform allowed the use of Volvo's new 5-cylinder gasoline engine. V-shaped 6-cylinder engines ceased to be used. Gasoline engines have the following volumes - 1.6, 2.0, 2.3 and 2.5 liters. Diesel engines of four different sizes - 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 liters.

The steering has an electronic-hydraulic system, which increases the sensitivity of feedback and helps reduce fuel consumption. Inside the Mk IV, a 5-inch LCD display is used to display the on-board computer and satellite navigation. The basic configuration includes a climate control system. In addition, there is an option to start the car without a key using a button on the dashboard.

Towards the end of 2010, some updates were made, such as a new EcoBoost engine, LED rear lights, and an improved interior. Changes have also been made to the 2.2 liter diesel engine.

Mondeo Mk V

The fourth generation Ford Mondeo (Mk V), also known as the Ford Fusion, was introduced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Sales of this car were scheduled to start in the summer of 2013, but were postponed until the fall of 2014. In October 2014, the fourth generation Mondeo appeared in Europe.

The car uses 4 types of EcoBoost gasoline engines - 1.0 L3, 1.5 L4, 1.6 L4 and 2.0 L4, as well as 4 types of four-cylinder turbodiesels - 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2 liters. Transmission: 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual.

Currently, the Mondeo's main competitors are the Citroen C5, Volkswagen Passat, Kia Optima, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6, Mitsubishi Galant, Nissan Teana, Opel Insignia, Peugeot 408, Renault Laguna, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry, Audi A4 and Infiniti G.

Ford Mondeo 1 was created in 1992 in order to become a single model for the markets of America, Europe and Asia. Before this event, certain modifications of cars were presented at regional car dealerships. Since 1993, the car, which replaced the once popular Sierra, hit the stands of car dealerships. A new era of Ford Mondeo has begun.

What was remarkable about the new model? Ford Mondeo changed its type to front-wheel drive. The plant's engineers took care of the safety of the car owners: the body received a shape that protected the car owner from the harmful consequences of an accident. The front airbag, ABS and belts with pretensioners protected the health of the driver who decided to buy a Ford Mondeo.

The high-quality steel of the body did not allow the Ford Mondeo to be changed over the years; even after several years of operation, the paint continued to shine in the sun. The car was produced in three versions: station wagon, hatchback and sedan. A steel beam was welded into the doors, reducing the likelihood of injury. The Ford Mondeo model did not need replacement; the owners were satisfied with their purchase.

The Ford Mondeo engine was a four-cylinder with the name Zetec. The volume of the power unit was two, 1.8 and 1.6 liters. The Ford Mondeo car, a photo of which is still available on the Internet, was equipped with an engine with a distributed injection system - the latest at that time. The price for the first generation of Ford Mondeo cars is now 100 thousand rubles.

The creation of the Ford Mondeo 2 took place in 1996. In October, the first car rolled off the plant's assembly lines. The base remains the same, but the body has received several major modifications. The car has become larger, and its interior has “matured”, taking over all the best from the German presentable assembly. The new Ford Mondeo was produced in 3 standard versions: hatchback, station wagon and sedan.

Ford Mondeo received an improved MacPherson strut suspension and off-road vibration of the cabin became history. Control has improved, because the car is equipped with power steering. Traveling has become easier; drivers are freed from the need to use physical force to turn and turn around. It was only for the sake of these changes that car enthusiasts decided to buy a Ford Mondeo.

The Ford Mondeo engine has also changed: along with the traditional 1.8 and Ford Mondeo 2.0 options, power units with a volume of 2.5 liters and 3 liters have appeared. The latest modification was equipped with a V6 engine. The next minor cosmetic changes happened to the Ford Mondeo in the years 2003-2005.

Due to the optimal price-quality ratio, the new Ford Mondeo did not require replacement; it was a popular model. The new Mondeo in 1998 cost 418 thousand 77 rubles in the basic configuration. But even in 2016, the price for a Ford Mondeo rarely falls below 150 thousand rubles.

Ford Mondeo 3 appeared in 2000. As for the previous generation, the car plant's engineers designed three body types: station wagon, hatchback and sedan. The Mondeo 3 was lengthened by as much as 30 centimeters, but this did not negatively affect the handling, because the Ford Mondeo, as before, accurately cornered.

Ford Mondeo was equipped with a new Durashift manual transmission with 5 gears and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Acceptance has increased significantly. It has become easier for the car owner to control when driving in traffic jams. In those years, buying a Ford Mondeo meant gaining comfort and confidence.

The Ford Mondeo engine has not undergone major technological changes. The cars were still equipped with gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.8, 2.0, 2.5 and 3 liters. An alternative to gasoline is diesel fuel and turbo power units with a volume of 2 and 2.2 liters. The engines installed on the Ford Mondeo did not require replacement for several years.

Ford Mondeo wheels were made in size R16 and could withstand heavy loads. Thanks to high-quality wheel tires, tire fitting and repair of the Ford Mondeo were required extremely rarely. In online discussions about the Ford Mondeo, only positive reviews flash, so even now you can buy a Ford Mondeo whose price is 200 thousand rubles.

The third generation Ford Mondeo was restyled three times. The first change happened in 2004. The shape of the bumpers has changed. The new version looked modern, it received an increase in speed thanks to the optimization of aerodynamic parameters. Engineers changed the mirrors, the central part of the dashboard and the radiator grille of the Ford Mondeo.

In 2005, a second wave of modification took place, after which many motorists had a desire to buy a Ford Mondeo 3. The windows received chrome-plated, sparkling moldings. It is now possible to fold the rear view mirrors with the press of one button. Ford Mondeo sensors remained unchanged.

Manufacturers have not changed the Ford Mondeo engine. But in 2006, the car's taillights were updated with chrome and white stripes. The rear bumper skirt has two reflectors. Many car enthusiasts expressed their desire to buy a Ford Mondeo after restyling.

Thanks to the fact that the car's appearance acquired modern features, the Ford Mondeo was quite consistent with the years. The rear mudguards of the Ford Mondeo, reviews of which are still published on the Internet, have received a new shape. After restyling, the popularity of the third generation led to the fact that the price of the Ford Mondeo was set at around 250 thousand rubles.

Manufacturers presented the new Ford Mondeo 4 to the public in the last months of 2006. Sales started in 2007 and ended only in 2014. Car enthusiasts had the opportunity to buy the Ford Mondeo 4 in six trim levels: Titanium x, Ghia x, Titanium, Ghia, Trend and Ambiente. The basic Ford Mondeo platform has changed.

A Volvo 5-cylinder engine was installed on the updated Ford Mondeo platform; the power unit of the previous generation was no longer used. The Ford Mondeo gasoline engine was supplied in the following modifications: 2.5, 2.3, 2 and 1.6 liters. There were also diesel engines: 2.2, 2, Ford Mondeo 1.8 and 1.6 liters.

Even the Ford Mondeo diesel changed its steering system to a new, electronic-hydraulic one. The feedback became instantaneous; Ford Mondeo suspension parts rarely needed to be replaced, because it became easier to go around an uneven section of the road. An on-board computer with a liquid crystal screen with a resolution of 5 inches appeared in the car.

The Ford Mondeo, which was replaced only in 2014, occupied a significant share in the automobile market. You can buy a Ford Mondeo even now, 9 years after the release of the first car in the series. For Ford Mondeo the price is 450 thousand rubles.

For the Ford Mondeo 4, a replacement was created at the end of 2010 and was called Facelift. The model was equipped with a new stylish hood, updated radiator grille and bumpers. Ford Mondeo has acquired an appearance that is 100% consistent with modern realities. As part of the lighting technology, engineers added daytime running lights with LED bulbs to the Ford Mondeo.

The interior of the Ford Mondeo station wagon and other modifications of the car received lighting consisting of a group of LEDs. The navigation system has been updated, and especially for music lovers, engineers have integrated a powerful audio system with a sound amplifier into the new Ford Mondeo. Information has appeared on the Mondeo forum resource about a complete subwoofer with a volume of 17 liters.

The new Ford Mondeo engine, powered by EcoBoost technology, was offered in two versions: 240 and 200 horsepower. The car was produced with a Duratorq TDCi turbodiesel power unit. The Ford Mondeo petrol sent power to a 6-speed automated gearbox called PowerShift.

Only in 2014, key technical characteristics were replaced on the Ford Mondeo, and before this date, the 4th generation was among the favorites among motorists. You can only buy a used Ford Mondeo, because the production of new cars ended in 2015. For fourth generation Ford Mondeo cars the price is 600 thousand rubles.

The first Ford Mondeo 5 was released in 2014. The car was called Ford Fusion. The generation acquired several distinctive features. The main design element of the 2016 Ford Mondeo, the radiator grille, which gives the car extraordinary speed, has changed.

LED headlights with variable angle of rotation help the driver to control the Ford Mondeo in the dark. Electronics monitor the car's turn and redirect the light flux in the direction of movement of the Ford Mondeo. Engineers equipped the cabin with anatomically shaped seats, with which any trip becomes comfortable.

The Ford Mondeo engine is designed using EcoBoost technology, which means that, with a low volume, the power unit shows high power levels. Gasoline cars are available with 4 types of engines: 2, 1.6, 1.5 and 1 liter. Ford Mondeo turbodiesels are a replacement for traditional power units and are available in displacement sizes: 2.2, 2, 1.6 and 1.5 liters.

Modern Ford Mondeo cars, videos with test drives of which fill YouTube, have taken their rightful place in the automotive market. Engineers will clearly not be in a hurry to remove Ford Mondeo from the assembly line, because the car has great potential. You can buy the 5th generation Ford Mondeo from official dealers and major car dealerships. For a new Ford Mondeo, the price starts from 1 million 150 thousand rubles.

The Ford Mondeo debuted in 1993 under the concept of a "global" car. The idea was to sell the same model in many markets around the world without fundamental differences. For this reason, the car was equipped with a wide range of power units.

Subsequently, each subsequent generation adopted this tradition from the previous one. This article is intended to familiarize you with engines of various generations and their service life, characteristic features and problems.

I and II generation (1993-1996; 1996-2000)

The first generations of Ford Mondeo are in fact modifications of one car. Appearing in 1996, the second generation has noticeably changed in appearance. However, the range of engines remained the same.

The most widely used are the fours of the Zetec series. They were presented in three versions:

  • 1.6 l. (90 hp or 95 hp);
  • 1.8 l. (116 hp);
  • 2.0 l. (131 hp).

In general, this series is considered quite reliable. With timely, competent maintenance, they can go through fairly decent runs. The youngest 1.6-liter unit is considered the least resourceful. This is due to the need to “twist” it often in order to maintain acceptable dynamics of a fairly massive car. Larger counterparts are considered the best choice. Sufficient power supply is combined with a good level of reliability. Typical problems include leaking front and rear oil seals.

The 2.5-liter Duratec series engine produces 170 hp. The V-6 has a reputation for being ultra-reliable. Thanks to the timing mechanism with two chains, it does not require active intervention and unscheduled repairs up to 300 thousand km. When considering problem areas, it is worth noting the pump. It runs on average 60-80 thousand km. If you do not replace it on time, then either a sudden breakdown occurs or a gradual decrease in the efficiency of pumping coolant. This is fraught with overheating and serious repairs. Also, the owner of a car with such an engine should be prepared for increased maintenance costs compared to 4-cylinder options.

There was also a “charged” version of the Mondeo. It was equipped with a 2.5-liter V6 with 200 hp. The status of the sports version obliges. The motor has many characteristic problems, including the search for spare parts and maintenance. Such specimens are extremely rare.

Diesel modifications were equipped with a single 1.8 liter engine. and power 90 hp. In operation, it proved to be a fairly reliable unit. It does not cause any problems and pleases with a high level of reliability, subject to timely maintenance. It is recommended to pay special attention to the timing belt, replacing it every 50 thousand km.

When looking closely at specimens of the first two generations, you should take into account the age of the model. And the age is already respectable. Therefore, when choosing, you should pay very close attention to the technical condition of the main components. To reduce the likelihood of running into a “dead” specimen, it is better to seek advice from a competent specialist.

III generation (2000-2007)

The new generation of Ford Mondeo, which appeared in 2000, continued the tradition of a wide range of engines. A decision was made to increase the working volume. Therefore, the insufficiently dynamic 1.6-liter unit disappeared from the lineup. At the same time, the range of heavy fuel engines was expanded.

Gasoline engines

  • 1.8 l. (110 hp/125 hp);
  • 1.8 l. SCi I4, (131 hp);
  • 2.0 l. (145 hp);
  • 2.5 l. (170 hp);
  • 3.0 l. (204 hp/226 hp).

Engines with a volume of 1.8 liters. have become quite widespread. There are no critical complaints about their service life and reliability. Typical problems include failure of the thermostat and fuel pump. The EGR exhaust gas recirculation valve and the idle speed valve can add headaches to the owner.

The SCi series engine stands apart. Its peculiarity is the presence of a direct injection system. Because of this, it has increased sensitivity to the quality of fuel consumed. In addition, there may be problems with finding spare parts, since it is much less common on the market.

2.0 liter engine. is considered the best option among gasoline modifications. A decent level of dynamics is combined with a slight increase in consumption relative to the basic modifications. The problems have something in common with 1.8-liter units, and are usually associated with attachments.

Six-cylinder versions with volumes of 2.5 and 3.0 liters. are generally considered successful and quite reliable. However, when purchasing such a copy, you should take into account the more frequent need for maintenance.

Diesel power units

  • 2.0 l. (90 hp/116 hp) TDDi;
  • 2.0 l. (116 PS/131 PS) TDCi;
  • 2.2 l. (155 hp) TDCi.

The TDDI series was installed before the 2003 restyling. Even then it was obsolete, so it did not last long on the assembly line.

All diesel engines had certain design flaws that critically affected their durability and service life. The TDCi series was regularly upgraded during production. Thus, the later the engine is produced, the fewer problems it has. Among the weak points of diesel engines: problems with the dual-mass flywheel and flow meter.

IV generation (2007-2013)

The fourth generation of Mondeo has noticeably increased its solidity, coming very close to the business class. This applied to both size and level of equipment. The tradition of a wide range of power units has also been preserved. After restyling, it was supplemented with a series of supercharged EcoBoost engines.

Gasoline engine range

  • 1.6 l. (110 hp/125 hp);
  • 2.0 l. (145 hp);
  • 2.3 l. (161 hp);
  • 2.5 l. (220 hp) before restyling;
  • 2.0 l. EcoBoost (200 hp/240 hp) after restyling.

On basic 1.6-liter cars, in the first years of production, problems were encountered with camshaft couplings. In addition, traditionally the base engine is weak for a large car. The need to drive at high speeds does not add life to it.

The most widespread is the 2-liter 145-horsepower unit. This is justified by its reliability and survivability. It is not at all uncommon for specimens to travel 300-400 thousand km.

The 2.3-liter Duratec-HE naturally aspirated may have problems with the throttle assembly. At 50-60 thousand km, detonation, floating speed, and problems with starting may appear. Cleaning the throttle valve most often helps solve this. However, sometimes replacement may be necessary. A more serious drawback for many copies is critical oil consumption after 150-200 thousand km. The reason for this phenomenon may be either a problem with the valve stem seals or stuck rings.

The five-cylinder 2.5 liter turbo engine often presents owners with problems in the form of leaking oil seals.

2-liter engines of the EcoBoost series are not famous for their phenomenal reliability and reliability. In the first batches of engines there was a serious problem in the form of piston burnout. In the area of 80-120 thousand km, the camshaft clutch may fail. The injection pump serves 100-150 thousand km. A fairly common problem is burnout of the intake manifold.
A common problem with all gasoline engines is the short service life of the drive belt tension roller. A harbinger of its demise is a knocking or crunching sound when the electrical load increases. Also, after 100 thousand km, a sudden failure of the fuel pump may occur. Almost always this happens unexpectedly, without preliminary symptoms.

Diesel line

  • 2.0 TDCi (130 hp/140 hp);
  • 2.2 TDCi (175 hp).

TDCi diesel engines are developed by the French concern PSA (Peugeot/Citroen). Up to 200 thousand km pass without major problems. But after that, most likely, serious repairs will be required. Usually it includes work on restoring the fuel injection pump and replacing injectors. In this case, the turbine actuator may fail. The turbine can quite successfully survive up to 250-300 thousand km. The 2.0-liter version is much more common.

Sometimes a 1.8 liter diesel engine can be found. Such machines were intended for the European and North American markets. There are two modifications for 100 and 125 hp. The engine itself is quite reliable. Its problem is increased sensitivity to the quality of fuel consumed.

General information about the car

The second generation Ford Mondeo was produced from 1996 to 2000. This is a class D passenger car, which was produced in factories in Belgium and the UK for the European market. Analogues of the model were sold on the American market - Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique. The car was produced in sedan, station wagon and hatchback versions.

In 1996, the first generation Ford Mondeo was updated, which was classified by experts as the release of a new, second generation of the car.

Almost all external panels were replaced, the radiator grille and optics were changed, and the windshield was strengthened. It became possible to adjust the steering column, a wider range of settings for the driver's seat, semi-automatic air conditioning appeared, and there was more space in the rear seats. The car has become safer thanks to larger driver and passenger airbags, three-point seat belts and reinforced door construction with springy foam under the trim.

Changes to the interior were less radical.

In 1998, the Zetek engine was updated. Power has decreased, but the engine has become more reliable, and traction at high speeds has increased. In the same year, more expensive materials began to be used for interior decoration.

A fairly large number of Ford Mondeo 2 trim levels were produced, which differed in the presence of different engines, additional options and trim level. Among them were the sports ST 24 and ST 200, equipped with powerful engines (168 and 200 hp, respectively), sports suspension, leather upholstery and digital climate control.

Production of the model ceased in 2000 due to the entry of the new generation Ford Mondeo onto the market.

Technological features

The new Quadralink passive steering suspension began to be installed on second-generation cars. With its help, the car's stability and controllability have significantly improved.

It was installed, providing a stable stop and a shorter braking distance. Another distinctive feature of the Ford Mondeo 2 was the engine fuel pump, equipped with an emergency system that turns off the gasoline supply in the event of an accident. To restart the fuel supply, a button had to be pressed.

The emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere has decreased by 30% compared to the engines of the previous model. This result was achieved thanks to a new catalyst design.

Interesting Facts

In 1997, the Ford Mondeo 2 was purchased by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The well-known German company Minichamps, one of the leaders in the production of scale models that are valued by collectors all over the world, took over the production of the Ford Mondeo 2 model.

In 1998, the Ford Mondeo 2 station wagon was created exclusively through computer modeling, without the use of traditional layouts. This was a new experience for the company, which turned out to be quite successful.

Pros and cons in comparison with classmates

During the production period of the model, its price differed from its main classmates; the car was 30% cheaper than the Mitsubishi Galant, Toyota Carina E, Volkswagen Passat and Opel Vectra.

Numbers and awards

This model has gained the greatest popularity among European countries in the UK. From 1996 to 1998, the car was in third place in sales in the country.

In 1997, the Ford Mondeo 2 was included in the Top 10 most reliable cars produced in England. In 1998, the model won the title of "Best Family Car" in the UK.

General information about the car

Ford Mondeo 3 is a front-wheel drive “D” class car, produced by the European division of Ford in three body styles - hatchback, station wagon, sedan. The third generation Ford Mondeo was produced from 2001 to 2007. Produced in Belgium, China, Vietnam and Taiwan.

At the beginning of 2000, Ford presented the Ford Mondeo 3 at the Paris Motor Show. Production began in 2001 at the company's Belgian plant.

The car has become larger than its predecessor. The designer of the European Ford division, Chris Bird, developed a body project in accordance with the Ford concept of “new edge” - “new edge”, which means a mixture of sharp corners and smooth lines, oval and triangular shapes in the design.

The body was significantly strengthened: in terms of resistance to deformation, it became 60% stronger than its predecessor, the guarantee against through corrosion increased to 12 years, thanks to 24-stage metal processing during body assembly. The safety system was supplemented with new electronic systems: in addition to ABS with an electronic brake force distribution system, an emergency braking assistance system (EBA) was installed on the car.

The car was restyled in 2003 and 2005. Basically, the design and interior were slightly changed: a new radiator grille, headlights and taillights, fog lights. Titanium and Titanium X trim levels have appeared with chrome inserts and titanium-colored door trims.

Production of the model ceased in 2007, after the entry into the market of the fourth generation Ford Mondeo, designed according to the new concept of kinetic design.

New options for the third generation Mondeo are a powerful audio system, the ability to install satellite navigation systems, a multimedia system with a touch-screen screen for the driver and two independent screens for rear passengers.

The “charged” version of Mondeo - ST220, was 20 hp more powerful than its predecessor. It was equipped with a 6-cylinder 24-valve engine with a volume of 3.0 liters (223 hp). With it, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, the maximum speed was 243 km/h.

Interesting Facts

The car was developed by the company's specialists in a fairly short time - within 24 months.

Before the first presentation at the auto show, the model existed only in a computer version. This approach was rare for that time, although the company had already used it to develop the Ford Mondeo 2 station wagon. The innovation was criticized more than once, but the result proved the progressiveness of the new Ford technology.

The famous automotive journalist Jeremy Clarkson used the Ford Mondeo 3 as a personal car, and included a test drive of the Ford Mondeo ST 220 version in a series of his car programs.

Pros and cons in comparison with classmates

The spacious interior of the model is one of the most advanced in its class. The body also became larger - the Ford Mondeo 3 surpassed its classmates in size - Citroen C5 (11 cm), Volkswagen Passat (2 cm), Renault Laguna II (15 cm), Peugeot 406 (17 cm).

Ford wins in cargo capacity - it is 50 kg more than that of the Mazda 6. The 510-liter trunk is larger than that of the Volkswagen Passat and Renault Laguna II.

For the first time in its class, the Ford Mondeo 3 began to be equipped with 16-inch tires as standard. 17- and even 18-inch wheels were installed to order. Peugeot 406 and Volkswagen Passat were initially equipped with only 15-inch ones.

But the main advantage of the model is its excellent handling, which has become a benchmark in the class.

Visibility of the Ford Mondeo 3 is not very good - it is limited by the high rear and small exterior mirrors.

Numbers and awards

The model became “Car of the Year” in 2001 and “Best Family Car” in 2006 according to the British publication “What Car?” In 2001, it was also named “Best Car” by Top Gear magazine. In 2005, EuroNCAP awarded the Ford Mondeo 5 stars in crash tests.
